Y/N sat on her couch, scrolling through a list of healthy recipes on her phone, resisting the urge to snack on anything that wasn’t labeled "low-calorie" or "sugar-free." She had been on this strict diet for two weeks now, determined to stick to it. Her mind wandered, thinking about all the food she missed: pasta, pizza, and most of all—burgers.
Just as she was starting to think about how good a juicy burger would taste, her phone pinged with a message.
Boo .ᐟ 🍊: "What are you doing?"
Y/N smirked, already knowing where this was going. Seungkwan was her best friend, and if there was one thing he was known for, it was his late-night cravings.
Y/N: "Avoiding bad decisions. And you?"
Boo .ᐟ 🍊: "I’m on my way to make one. Come with me?"
Y/N: "Seungkwan, I’m on a diet. No."
A few seconds later, her phone started vibrating with an incoming call. She sighed before answering.
"Seungkwan," Y/N greeted dryly.
"Y/N-ah, please," Seungkwan whined on the other end of the line. "There’s this burger joint that stays open 24/7. They make the best burgers ever. You’ll love it."
"I’m on a diet," she repeated, hoping that would end the conversation.
"One burger won’t kill you! C’mon, it's been weeks since we hung out. Do it for your best friend." He was switching to the pleading tone now. "You wouldn’t let me walk alone in the dark, right?"
She rolled her eyes, staying firm. "I would. Besides, I know you're just trying to get me to break my diet."
"Y/N-ah! I’ll die if I don’t get a burger soon! And you want me to die hungry? After all we've been through together?" Seungkwan’s voice went up an octave, dramatically emphasizing every word.
Y/N sighed. She knew he was relentless when it came to food cravings. "I already ate dinner. I don’t need a burger."
"You could just watch me eat. You know, for moral support. And I’ll act like I’m eating for the both of us. You’ll live vicariously through me!" He was pulling every card out of his deck now.
"No," she repeated firmly, though she could feel her willpower cracking.
"I’ll buy your drink. Whatever healthy option you want!" Seungkwan offered, his voice laced with desperation.
"Not gonna work."
"I’ll sing for you while we walk."
"Seungkwan, no."
There was silence for a moment, and she thought she had finally won. But then…
"You don’t love me, do you?"
Y/N sat up straighter, confused. "What?"
"You heard me. If you loved me, you'd help me in my time of need." He gasped, adding to the drama. "Do you… do you even care about me? Your best friend?"
She could hear the pout through the phone.
"Don't you dare—"
"Oh no, it's okay! I’ll just walk alone in the dark. I’ll probably trip over something because no one will be there to catch me. Who knows what kind of strange people are out there at night?"
"Seungkwan!" Y/N interrupted, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Fine. Fine. I’ll go with you, but you are not making me break my diet!"
There was a pause before Seungkwan’s enthusiastic voice came through the phone. "YES! You won’t regret it, Y/N-ah. Meet you in ten?"
"I already regret it," she mumbled, but hung up and begrudgingly changed into something warm for their late-night food run.
As soon as Y/N stepped outside, she spotted Seungkwan waving at her energetically from down the street. He had his signature bright grin, and was bundled up in an oversized hoodie. She walked up to him, narrowing her eyes.
"You owe me big time for this," she said as they started walking.
Seungkwan hooked his arm through hers, pulling her along as if she might change her mind. "You’re the best! I knew you couldn’t resist spending time with me."
"Spending time with you or watching you stuff your face? I’m not sure which one is worse."
He pouted but quickly recovered. "Oh, come on! You can just drink water or something. I’ll eat the burger and make the whole experience entertaining for you."
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small smile creeping up on her face. "This had better be worth it."
They walked down the dimly lit street, Seungkwan chattering on about the latest drama in his life. Apparently, he'd been stressing over a video shoot that hadn’t gone as planned, and his "burger night" was his way of rewarding himself for surviving it. He emphasized every word with a wild hand gesture, nearly hitting Y/N at one point.
"You know what they say," Seungkwan continued dramatically. "When life gets tough, you eat. Preferably something greasy and unhealthy."
"You say that," Y/N muttered.
He winked at her. "And I’m always right."
"You’re always something."
As they neared the fast-food joint, their conversation spiraled into chaos. Y/N pointed out that Seungkwan’s logic was flawed, saying he couldn’t use food as an emotional crutch. But Seungkwan, in classic form, declared himself an "emotional eater" and went on a tangent about how everyone should indulge in their cravings once in a while.
"Besides," he added cheekily, "do you really want to live a life without burgers?"
Y/N couldn't help but laugh. "You’re so dramatic."
"And you love it!" Seungkwan spun around to face her, walking backward now. "Admit it, Y/N. You missed our late-night food runs."
She shrugged, not ready to give him that satisfaction. "Maybe. But I also missed having self-control."
"Self-control is overrated," he declared, turning back around just in time to avoid tripping over a curb. "Besides, think of this as… quality time with me. A bonding experience."
Y/N laughed harder this time, shaking her head at his antics. "Oh, sure. Because nothing bonds people like burgers and guilt."
"Exactly!"
They finally reached the fast-food court, the familiar neon sign glowing invitingly in the night. Seungkwan practically dragged Y/N inside, and they approached the counter. He eagerly scanned the menu, while Y/N glanced around, wondering how she’d ended up here in the first place.
"You’re really going through with this, huh?" she asked as Seungkwan placed his order for the largest burger on the menu.
"Oh, I’m not backing down now. I’ve been dreaming about this for hours." He turned to her, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Are you sure you don’t want one? You’ve been so good with your diet. A little cheat meal won’t hurt."
Y/N hesitated for a moment. The smell of grilled burgers was overwhelmingly tempting, and Seungkwan wasn’t making it any easier with his exaggerated eating gestures.
"Fine," she finally said, giving in. "But only a small one. And I’m blaming you for this."
Seungkwan grinned like a child who had just won a prize. "Blame me all you want. I’ll take full responsibility!"
As they waited for their order, Seungkwan started humming a random tune, clearly pleased with himself. Y/N leaned against the counter, trying to suppress a smile.
"Why do I let you talk me into these things?" she mused.
"Because you love me," Seungkwan replied without missing a beat. "And because I’m impossible to resist."
"You’ve got that right," Y/N muttered, shaking her head.
When their food finally arrived, Seungkwan wasted no time diving into his burger with gusto. Y/N took a more reserved approach, nibbling on her small burger and trying not to think about the calories.
Between bites, Seungkwan shot her a playful look. "So… how’s that diet going?"
She groaned. "Don’t remind me. This is a one-time thing."
"Uh-huh," he said, grinning. "Sure it is."
They ate in companionable silence for a few minutes, but it wasn’t long before Seungkwan started cracking jokes, making Y/N laugh until she nearly choked on her fries. Every time she tried to glare at him, he would flash that innocent smile, and she found herself unable to stay mad.
By the time they were done eating, Y/N’s initial guilt had melted away. She still had a diet to get back to tomorrow, but tonight? Tonight was about enjoying the moment.
As they walked back down the street toward home, Seungkwan looped his arm through hers again, leaning his head on her shoulder dramatically. "See? I told you this would be fun. Aren’t you glad you came?"
Y/N chuckled. "I’ll admit, it was better than I expected. But you still owe me for breaking my diet."
"I’ll buy you a salad next time," he teased, earning a playful shove from her.
"You're the worst."
"And yet, you keep me around." He wiggled his eyebrows, and Y/N couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah, I guess I do."

Job Requirements to future employees of the Magnus Archives (and tips to nail your interview):
GENERAL
- Be part of the LGBTQIA+ comunity.
- Be neurodivergent
- Have personal trauma (a little bit of trauma is enough but the more trauma the best)
- Have a small or even better non-existent support group outside of maybe other Institute Employes if and when Elias sees fit (he will break your friendship and you won't even notice).
- Better yet just make very clear that the chances of someone noticing your sudden disapearance is something between "almost none" and "zero", same for looking for you if they somehow notice.
- Be extremely nervous and specifically afraid of Elias during your enterview. (Yes, the Head of the Instute does all the job interviews personally, no it's not for quality test he's just hungy and really enjoys the fear of being known and truly seen that comes from job enterviews in specific).
- Deep wish for knowledge
- Opticional: Have a college diploma and some high academic credenciais. Don't worry you can straight up lie, Elias will know but he will hire you for the lols (and because your anxiety of if someone noticed and when everyone will know you're an impostor is a really fun snack).
EXTRA RULES FOR A POSITION ON THE ARCHIVES
- Have no idea how to run an archive
- Cassete Tape Expertise
- Some level of distrust that will ruin your friendships (Martin is the exception because the lie anxiety was a rly good snack and Elias subestimated him).
* Specifically for the Head rchivist position we also recomend you have previous supernatural trauma to pair with your normal trauma, be hard to kill but easy to hurt and be incrledibly easy to kidnapp.
+ SOME GUIDELINES FOR IF YOU WANT TO BE THE HEAD OF THE INSTITUTE
- Have cold grey eyes (alternativally have no one that really rembers your eye color all that well).
- Jonah Magnus considers you to be actractive and healty.
- Answer the question: what the people around you would think if your personality suddently changed with "preffer it" or "they wouldn' notice" or even better some mix of both.
+ Bônus: DON'T try to enter to or act as someone from HR, the HR people are either not real or just Peter Lukas dressed as a slutty secretary after he lost a bet. He hates it. You hate it (you better do or the Fog will get you). Everyone hates it (except Elias because of fucking course Elias is fine). If you try or even if you just do something that looks a bit like HR's job you will be the one testig whatever it is they're testing in artefact storage right now.
