emile having more of a disconnect irt his heritage than his peers of noble team, because he was one of the handful of orphans who lost their parents not to the covenant, but to insurrectionists, and as a result he was raised by his older brother. only speaks the odd phrase or three in another language ( i haven't got a HC yet for what his ethnicity might be ).

and his big bro didn't have a lot of time to teach him about everything their parents would have taught them in regards to their history, where they came from, their family and stuff. bc his big bro was trying to parent emile and also look after himself.

and he looks at kat, who also lost her parents prior to her homeworld being attacked, and who was raised by her grandmother. it's something they can relate to each other with, to a degree; neither one of them has many memories of their parents as compared to the other threes. but kat has more ties to her heritage than him because, well, her grandma had the time to teach her that sort of thing.

and he looks at carter, who although isn't entirely conversational in the language, who he relates to because they're both older, even if carter's older only chronologically, spits out the odd sentence or two in isixhosa. and he feels something that might just be jealousy.

and he looks at jun, who was orphaned years before his planet was ever touched by the covenant, and doesn't speak much of which family he was raised by; they might have more in common than he does with kat. and he thinks here, here's someone i can relate to. but the sniper has an accent that's thicker than kat's, and he speaks in two languages other than english, not just one.

and then there's rosenda. and thom. and all other members of noble team, spartan-iiis all. some more similar to him. some less so. some speaking two or three languages. some speaking only english.

and jorge. big, soft, gentle jorge, the only spartan-ii. taken from his parents, his family; got lucky enough to be trained on his homeworld, as opposed to his peers, the other spartan-iis. lucky enough to be stationed there with noble. and perhaps it's jorge he's most jealous of, of all noble.

and emile looks at himself, and wonders, "why couldn't i have that?"

Alastor- Bamboo Binds

You’re one of the weirdest demons he’s ever seen. You don’t want to eat demons? What’s the point of being in Hell then if you don’t sin. That’s how Alastor feels and that’s how he thinks as he watches you with the sharpest eye a deer like him can at your entrance to the Hotel

As soon as Charlie checked you in to the Hotel, she begun introducing you around and trying to have you befriend everybody but yet, you somehow clicked the most with Alastor. Nobody can explain it, you just did

Alastor can’t help but view you as an attached kitten, following him around, your off yet cute bamboo muzzle, light pink kimono and long haori covering your body well, light pink slit eyes. You’re so cute, like a child. He can’t help but view you as a child… a naive, easily manipulated little one

Alastor eventually ‘adopts’ you after pretending he doesn’t even acknowledge your presence around him for quite some time. He finds you way too perfect for his own purpose to just ignore your existence further so he goes from ignoring to openly addressing you

Alastor just drags you around when he needs you. He has a tab on you so he can teleport you from place to place with his voodoo magic. He nicknames you ‘Kitten’ so his voodoo entities know the target but he won’t ever explain how he managed to spread his magic onto you

Alastor isn’t the biggest fan of your bamboo muzzle since it’s restricting your ability to communicate so the only way he knows your answer is based on nonsense muffles and your gestures. At least, you’re naive enough for this to work

Alastor isn’t entirely sure what to call you. You’re not necessarily a younger sibling or a child figure to him but he also doesn’t feel comfortable with calling you a servant. You’re just some type of thing he favours and appreciates but also needs for his own selfish reasons

Alastor may pretend he doesn’t truly care for you but he does. He’ll put on your muzzle for you, he’ll crate a shade for you so you can walk in the sun of the Pride Ring without being burnt and he’ll give you a corner for you to sleep in. He does care… in his own way

Alastor also does express that he isn’t a fan of your style but is of your preferences. You’re from the Tashio Era, around his time on Earth so you view technology like him and it makes him feel more appreciative that you get him. You’re his best tool ally after all, he didn’t suspect anything else from you

Alastor is surprised by how sweet and compassionate you are to him, even him where everybody else kinda makes sense. He isn’t a nice man at all, he may believe he deserves a number of things but does he deserve kindness from people like you or Charlie? Not really. He doesn’t want it but once more, he doesn’t care much

Alastor is actually quite impressed and interested in how you’ve basically been brainwashed… through whatever, maybe some old guy, into believing he is your family so you defend him, just viewing your lost siblings through him. He finds it cute how you rely on kickboxing to fight or even argue, he finds you cute. Like a little fawn

Alastor believes you’re a powerful useful tool-ally to him. You keep his threats away, you serve him. It’s a give to and give back relationship you two share. You give him something, he gives you something back as to keep you under his thumb

But really… he’s grown to have a bit of a soft spot for you so he will tolerate giving you and your pretty blank pink eyes a bit more benefits than he would normally dare to

That shrinking power of yours is great at infiltrating Vees Tower and squeezing through hidden areas easier, and whilst Alastor does leave you to do those type of missions solo as a ‘favour’ in exchange for a ‘favour’ back, he likes you too much to let the Vees lay a hand on you so he swoops in when he needs to

Alastor has seen your Awakened Form before. The first time he’s ever been intimidated in this realm. It was triggered during the Exterminator Battle for the Hazbin Hotel. You were kicking around angels viciously, setting them ablaze, almost targeting your own allies out of immense hunger, but Alastor had to restrain you to stop you from going too far and it… was amazing for all that he even stepped in, despite the danger you opposed in this state

Your strength and your healing fire touch makes you become a further valuable item to Alastor, more and more everyday, so it makes him protective and possessive over you. A demon with your power and capabilities must be under his servitude but also being treated like a pampered kitten by him and only him

Alastor legit gets so pissed if anybody dares to put you outside in the sunlight with no protection, even when they don’t mean to hurt you! It doesn’t matter to him!

Headcanon time, le’s go.

James was a General, first. Well, first, he was a soldier in the Atlesian military, and he may have been a bit too late for either war (not that he would have wanted to fight in either, stupid, pointless waste of lives they were), but he saw his fair share of combat against the Grimm. It's a position he worked for, tirelessly, because he had ideas and ambitions and saw too many of his comrades die on the line to let things continue to operate as they were.

Meanwhile, his position as Atlas Academy’s Headmaster was... an offer. More of a politely-worded demand. The former Headmaster—civilian, not military, but definitely militaristic in thinking—was the one to start the Special Operatives program and bring the military and the Academy together fully, and didn’t want that effort to go to waste upon his departure. Who better for the job? James was hesitant at first, to put it mildly, but eventually agreed. He never regretted it.

On the note of todays Nitpick I would love to hear what people’s headcannons are for how James found himself as General and Headmaster. I have my own personal headcannons but I would love to hear other people’s ideas for how it happened.

Angel Dust- Little Spiderling

You know, right away, Angel drags you back to the Hotel when he finds out you’re his niece/nephew by pure accident. You aren’t the little one he remembered once seeing his beloved Molly having but you’re still a minor, not eighteen yet! So, he must protect you! And he will!

Angel has a barely functional life down here and is really struggling through it but the one thing he knows how to do is express his love for people so he does it a lot to you

He tries SO hard to let his walls down to bond with you, to let you know you matter to him and he won’t shut you out. You are really the only person he doesn’t act like a sarcastic prick to but he will not tell you his problems since you’re his family, not his therapist

He really wishes he got to know you when you were both alive, he was so wrapped up in his own life, he didn’t acknowledge you. He barely remembered your name and he is clueless on what you like so he just tries to bond with you by trying to seem like that ‘cool Uncle’

Angel asks for advice all the time. He asks Husk, Charlie, even Vaggie. Advice for how he can try bond with you better and how to talk to you better. He already became your guardian… at his own word, so he needs to know how to connect with you

Angel often gets you gifts, it’s how he sees making you happy with him. Like, he’ll buy something whilst he’s out than he’ll offer it to you when he’s back at the Hotel, smiling so nervously and hoping you’ll like it. He is that one awkward but loving Uncle!

Angel basically dies again, of pure joy, when you express love or appreciation. He already has so much guilt for how little he knows you and how little he paid attention to you back on Earth but now, he wants to try again and he really wants to rekindle so he believes all his effort is always rewarded with the way you smile at him and say ‘thank you’ or ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m glad you want to join’

Angel is also that uncle who goes ‘aww, you’re so pretty. I remember when you were so little! Now, you’re big!’. If he had pictures of you, he’d be admiring them whilst crying

Angel does seem like a selfish man but he’s really only selfish with… everybody else. When it comes to you, he spoils you. He kinds parents you. He doesn’t know how to tell you your mom’s in Heaven so he distracts you with other stuff and he even shows off his beloved Fat Nuggets, to make you smile

Angel has a habit of picking you up, since he is much taller than you, and putting you on his back when it is time to go. He only does this when you escape the Hotel or leave against his wishes, and he can always keep his eyes on you this way

He also puts you on his back if you’re tired or want a nap or even miss him. You weigh nothing to him, and he can handle it well

Angel also loves taking you out to shopping trips with him and Cherri. He loves dressing you up in feminine/masculine clothing and praises you so you feel confident. You look great, and in-fact, he’ll buy that outfit so he can see you in it again and boost you up like a good Uncle does!

Angel actually trusts Cherri with you. He is very protective over you so really, only Charlie and Cherri have the permission to take care of you when he is busy

Sinners often confuse you for Angel’s son/daughter, mainly for the way he treats you, and even Valentino has called you ‘Angel’s kid’ before but he doesn’t take that shit from anybody and sets it straight. You’re his beloved sister’s baby and whilst he loves you, he’d never act as if he is your parent. He is your guardian, get it right

Angel teaches you how to cook the meals of the family. He loves cooking and he’s happy to be a mentor so he’ll ensure you know how to take care of yourself if you’re ever without him and know how to whip up a fine Italian cuisine. Cooking together is one of his personal made bonding methods

As well as baking. Angel knows you like baking so he tries to bake with you. Four arms are very useful and yes, he messes up a lot but the way you laugh at his attempt makes it feel like his eggy crispy frosting mess of a cake was totally worth it. You’re growing to like him more and not be annoyed with the fact he didn’t really care for you much in your past life

I will say now. Angel apologises a lot for the past but you take it maturely and understand his point of view. Though, your acceptance doesn’t remove Angel’s guilt and he takes a long time to feel better about himself, even when you two grow closer and you become more and more fine with him being your guardian

Angel doesn’t understand why he didn’t acknowledge you all those years ago… you’re so cute. What is there to not like?

Angel always sees his twin sister in you. You even look like her, so it means you look… more than a bit like Angel too, and he’s glad. It reminds him that he’ll always have a piece of his beloved sister with him as well as a family member who doesn’t dislike him

Angel’s kinda clingy, straight up. He cries whenever you do something he considers ‘cute’ and mews and calls you ‘Spiderling’ whilst hugging you. Angel is also THAT type of Uncle but it’s pretty cute how attached to you he is

Once more, he does get jealous of Arckaniss. He wants to be your favourite! Not his older brother so he sweeps in and steals you away from when you were talking to Arckaniss too much for his comfort. He is soooooo much better!

Really. Angel, in this entire situation with you, is trying and always trying. He tries to be the best guardian for you, he tries to be the best best friend for you, he tries to be the coolest best uncle for you! He tries and he hopes it works

He is actually fine with you calling him ‘Anthony’ over ‘Angel Dust’ and to make it fair, he calls you your real name over your demon name too!

shadow generations spoilers:

i keep thinking about how shadow immediately wants maria to be just his hallucination or a 'dream'. he's so afraid of giving himself false hope.. and after he realizes she's real he runs away from her multiple times because he gets overwhelmed or doesn't want to get attached :( 

i'm sure the idea of going back in time to stop what happened to her has crossed his mind before.. but he's intelligent, he knows he'd be changing the past AND future.. and possibly fucking up the timeline for good so.. he would never do that. and after remembering his promise to maria he wanted to leave the past behind and move on.. but i don't think shadow really understood that healing isn't something that can be forced upon yourself or something that just.. happens when you've found all the answers. he was always extremely harsh to himself when he found himself longing to be with maria again because he's supposed to be over it, right? she can't be brought back and he knows that...

yet when he sees maria and gerald in white space, he wants to protect them, to save them. he becomes confused and angry and most of all desperate. he goes as far as to wanting to use chaos control to froze them all in time.. WHICH IS VERY UNLIKE SHADOW.. it really speaks volumes of how much he wants to keep them alive.. thinking with his heart and not his brain..... when with shadow it's usually the other way around.

and the ending scene.. i'm sure it took every fiber of his being to turn around and leave them behind, he knows it's the right thing to do but it's painful, he doesn't want to do it... so HE CRIES. and when it's all over and shadow gets some time to process it all i think he's ( understandably ) going to be sad for a while. 

but he also gets closure. he gets to hear maria's wish from maria and not just from his blurry memories. and she told him she wants him to be happy too, when it's something he's been struggling for a long time. up until now he always thought he could sacrifice his own happiness to keep everyone on the planet safe but now? he needs to think..... and maybe start attending some birthday parties.

(also side headcanon another side effect of this is whenever he gets a new bird his wings are underdeveloped and can’t hold his weight and that’s why he needs elytra to fly, it’s like a mobility aid for flying)
