Why does Vassago already have merch, we haven't even met him yet
#Celtrist#cel rambles#I don't particularly care how abundant the merch is on shark robot#It literally feels like they'll take a scrap of anything and make it a pin#Like the Moxie Antartica pin Really sir and a bunch others where they're just a random frame from the show#I mean they're FUN frames at least but I swear I've seen some real random ones that don't even make sense to be a pin#AND I'M SORRY WHY DO THEY HAVE SO MUCH MERCH OF CHARACTERS THAT I CAN'T IMAGINE BEING THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT#Sallie Mae fine I can see why people like her and want merch#Chaz is pushing it especially seeing as he's pretty dead but fine I suppose he has his fans#Glitz and Glam? Okay you already fucked up not going with their beta designs but who really was looking at them and thinking âI want merchâ#But fine. I'm sure they have their fans#BUT FREAKING MUFFY?? THE VET RECEPTIONIST? WHO TF WAS ASKING FOR A PIN OF HER? DID YOU EVEN KNOW HER NAME?#They do that shit all the time and it aggravates me. They seem to go by a âquantity over qualityâ thing.#Which their quality is great btw but the quantity of things they have for characters that don't even matter and are seen once is rediculous#Also when I was gonna look up when we were gonna meet Vassago I saw he was an overlord in the pilot#Curious if that's gonna stay. What's to say overlords can't be hellborns or goetia#Is he a goetia? Not sure.#P-point is I like their merch and the new batch seems to mostly be uniquely made to be merch and I like that#But the amount of âgarbageâ (that's mean but best way I can put it) merch that has a character little to no one would care about#Or is essentially JUST a screen grab from the show is annoying and just pointlessly fills the shop pages#And while I see from a business perspective why they'd put Vassago out especially since some already like him#I also just think it's silly for him to already have merch when we haven't seen his character other than in the trailer#Surprised they don't have merch of satan out yet lol#Okay but I would've approved only so they could make a krampus joke with him#Granted I don't care about Helluva as much as Hazbin#But can't help to be more critical of it when it has a lot of problems Hazbin has aside from pacing#But absolutely NO excuse or leeway for the reason of the sloppy writing that's present#Lemme reiterate my good ol' phrase here:#You're not in the Sonic fandom for like 22 yrs and don't learn to be critical of the media you enjoy lol#rant

The Boys Preference: Reacting To Your Tattoos
A/N: I have so many ideas for The Boys cast! Be sure to look out for more posts! I'm updating my request list to include them đ I'm sorry I've been a little MIA! I'll be getting back to requests asap! Hope you like it! Feedback is always appreciated đ
Butcher loves them. This is not the moment to say something, to react, but he definitely takes notice. You got hurt, really hurt, and the only way to save you was for Annie cauterizing your wounds, buying you a little more time. Butcher didn't need to hold you down, you'd already gone limp, losing all color in your face. He begs you to wake up, to stay with them. There was so much blood. So much red. He was covered in it, seeping through his shirt. Your jacket was thrown off, the collar of your shirt torn, ripped, for easier access to your shoulder and they both discovered the tattoos. Your chest, your arm, neck, you were covered. He had a feeling there were far more, wondering why you never showed any of them. You were always so bundled up, he never even questioned it. He warned you this was going to hurt, though he wasn't even sure you could hear him. Still, as Annie's hands grew bright, he cringes, hoping you were too out of it to feel anything, hoping this would all seem like a far away dream. Hoping you won't mind the large scar that will warp your ink.
Hughie is pretty intimidated by them. The Boys are already a scary looking group, but meeting you, he thought you were going to bite off his head. Your body was pretty covered. After getting to know you, he realizes how wrong he was. You're snarky and stubborn, but you're also thoughtful and funny. If it were up to you, you'd never hurt a fly, just Vought. Still, every so often you'll do or say something that reminds him of that first impression, especially when you feel threatened or your friends are threatened. You'll show up with a few new ones, filling in the gaps. When it comes to open wounds you're ready to treat it with a strong drink and duct tape. When it comes to your tattoos, you're meticulous in your aftercare. He's never seen you so serene looking as when you're taking care of them, so gentle. Something about that makes him feel like he shouldn't be witnessing it, but he's grateful that he is. When they're in tricky spots, he's the first to offer to help. He works with nervous hands, afraid he'll do something to ruin it. You just laugh, walking him through it.
Annie knows all about your tattoos. They are, after all, linked to the V in your blood. You didn't start developing them until your late teens, your parents assuming the V they injected was a dud. Images started appearing and with them, your powers. By the time she met you, you were covered. You didn't like showing off to The Boys. You still had a long way to go to gaining their trust. Parading around the fact that you were a Supe wasn't going to help. Still, when it was just you and Annie you were less reluctant to show her. All kinds of images adorned your skin: weapons, insects, animals. You liked the weapons the best. The thing could project itself from your skin as if it were real. In seconds, you had a sword in each hand, as real and sharp as if you'd physically gotten one. The best part? Your skin was indestructible. Every few months, maybe years, a new tattoo would appear, giving you a leg up in the fight against Vought. She thinks you have by far the most interesting powers of any Supe she's met.
M.M. hates them. Because they're linked to the V you got as a baby, he sees them more of a warning than anything else, the way brightly colored animals are poisonous. He hadn't realized the first time you met, what they were from, and you were smart enough not to tell him. It was only when you were fighting for your life did you use your abilities: the circles on the back of your neck, layered, you let out a sonic scream that shattered windows, set off car alarms, and drew blood. The group that had attacked you were coughing it up, it was running down their necks from their ears. M.M. was far enough away not to be affected, but the way he tells it, he was *this* close to having his insides turned to goo. Some were safe enough to run away. The ones who were closer dropped dead with a wet squelch. He trusts you even less for not telling him. When he breaks the news to everyone else, he's shocked to find out that they either knew (like Annie) or they were unfazed, more impressed than anything else, like you'd become this great asset. You apologize profusely, but you know it'll be a long time before he can even look you in the eyes.
Frenchie thinks they're so cool. He went with you once and got one of his own: while you were getting a rather large piece finished, he wants to get a smiley face on his ass cheek. Despite the discomfort, Frenchie's all giggles. He's more than excited to show this off to everyone he decides to moon. You try to tell him how to take care of it, but he waves you off. He's eager to show The Boys. He's lucky it heals properly and by the end of the week, everyone he comes into contact with has seen it. Besides that, his favorite thing is to study the ones you have. They're intricate and beautiful and some of them are pretty silly. You never understood the sentiment that there had to be some grand kind of meaning behind them. If you like it, you get it tattooed. He asks questions about them, most done all over the world or, a couple, in prison. He thinks you look badass, especially when you shed the bulky layers and show off what they normally don't get to see. Your back piece is his favorite. When you're wearing something with a low back, or disregard a shirt completely, he can't help but watch you. You're careful, covering them with clothes or makeup so that whatever illegal thing you're doing can't be traced.
Kimiko asks a lot of questions. Did it hurt? Why that image? What does it mean? How long did it take? You never mind, in fact you like talking about them. You spent enough time getting stabbed, you wanted someone to ask. She especially loves the ones on your hands. They look beautiful as you sign back to her. Some are still a little raised despite how well you took care of them, those are her favorite. She touches them delicately, afraid it might hurt, but you assure her they're all healed. She watches when you're getting changed together, how they move with your skin and muscles. They make her smile knowing you feel so much more at home in your body because of them, something you admitted to her late one night after a few drinks. They help you like yourself, covering up insecurities, making you feel cuter/cooler than you would without them. She's always the first to notice when you get a new one, making a point regardless of the situation to tell you how nice it looks and that she likes it a lot.
Bonus! Homelander thinks they're horrendous. Disgusting. Just another way you've defiled your body. He can't stand to look at them and made sure you understand that. Around him, you keep them covered, either by clothing or makeup. You know better than to draw attention towards them. Regardless of how you acquired them (Compound V or just an aesthetic choice) you know not to bring them up or let anyone else bring them up. A-Train noticed the one of the back of your neck and that put Homelander over the edge. You were both thrown out of the room. You consider yourself more than lucky. He could have killed you, both of you, but he was feeling generous. He had bigger things on his mind. You knew working for Vought would lead to sacrifices, uncomfortable situations, but being interrogated by Homelander about your tattoos was never something you ever considered. He thinks about using his lasers every time he sees them poking out from your sleeve or pants. But he needs you. As long as he needs you, you're safe. The moment you stop being useful, he's going to cut off every individual image until there's nothing left. Until you look normal again.

Clarisseâs younger sister has feelings for Percy Jackson
Pairing: Percy Jackson x black!fem!reader (romantic), Clarisse La Rue x black!fem!reader (platonic)
Synopsis: the new boy, Percy Jackson, shows up to camp, Clarisseâs younger sister Y/N falls for him.
Warnings: Y/N & Clarisse have different godly parents, Clarisse grabs Percy Jackson, Y/N is daughter of Apollo
I feel bad for the newbies that come to Camp Half Blood, my big sister, Clarisse, always feels the need to âbreak them inâ as she says. So when she told me she was going to be doing the same to the new boy, Percy, I felt bad for him.
Imagine my surprise when I saw her and her half-siblings storming out of the bathrooms, soaked. I looked to find the cause of her state walking out just a few minutes after her. I stared at him and he stared at me.
âYouâre Percy Jackson, the boy who killed the Minotaur, correct?â I asked him, unlike Clarisse I wasnât that skeptical to not believe him. Sometimes things just happen and you get that adrenaline rush.
âUh..yea, I am.â He said, he seemed cautious of me. âArenât you Clarisseâs younger sister?â He asked me.
I stepped closer to him and held out my hand, I noticed the boy was slightly shorter than me. âY/N La Rue, daughter of Apollo, best bow user at camp. Pleased to meet your acquaintance.â I said with a confident smile.
âPercy.â He said, shaking my hand and letting it go. For a boy, he had really soft hands. âPercy, did you somehow do that to Clarisse?â I asked. âI mean if you did, I donât hate you for it or anything. Itâs finally time someone here stood up to her, someone who isnât Luke.â
âI donât really know how to explain it..â he said to me, looking down at his hands. âHonestly, Iâm not even sure I understand how it happened.â
I hummed and looked at the sky for second before looking back at him. âWell it was nice meeting you, Percy. Letâs chat again sometime, okay? Okay.â I said, not giving him the chance to respond as I walked back to my cabin.
The next day was capture the flag, and as usual, the Apollo kids were on the red team with the Ares kids. Mainly due to the fact Clarisse didnât want to hurt me since Iâm her younger sister.
After the conch blew, the red team let out a war cry. I didnât of course, I didnât want to accidentally scream too loud and bust everyoneâs ear drums.
I looked at the other side of the stream where I locked eyes with Percy, I smirked and sent him a wink before walking away with the rest of my team. Clarisse was barking orders and I could tell she had a plan up her sleeve, mustâve had something to do with last night.
She turned to me, âyou already know what to do, lilâ sis.â She said, ruffling my hair with a smug smile. I put on my helmet then ran into the part of the woods where Clarisse would hunt.
My job was to stay in the trees and shoot down anyone who just so happened to stumble in there. If I was captured, use my sonic scream to let them know where I am and to distract my enemies.
I climbed up high in one tree, part of me couldnât stop hoping I would see Percy though. In my honest opinion I thought he was kinda cute.
Over the last ten or fifteen minutes I was able to take down ten campers from the blue team. What I love about my cabin being on the red team is that, that means the blue team barely has any campers that are good with bows.
They have the Hermes cabin, of course, but most Hermes kids prefer swords. I could clanking and other noises out in the distance, one distinctive voice I could make out clearly was Clarisseâs.
I like watching her fight so I climbed down from the tree and ran to the direction of the noise. I could see the lakeshore, once I got there, Clarisse let out the most shrilling scream I had ever heard.
A scream of pure anger, and the expression she wore on her face was murderous. Her spear. Her spear was broken. The only thing she felt was the closest she could get to having some sort of connection with Ares, now it was broken.
My eyes flickered over to Percy, I felt my heart beat speed up. I couldnât tell if it was because I saw him, or because Clarisse stormed over to him and lifted him off the ground slightly by his armor.
Before I could go and stop her, the horn blew and the blue team ran down to the shore carrying our flag. I let out a breath I didnât even know I was holding when Clarisse dropped him.
She stormed passed me, nearly bumping me in the shoulder. Percy and I locked eyes, I wanted to talk to him and ask him what happened. I wanted to also congratulate him on his first win, but I knew I needed to talk with Clarisse. So, instead, I just gave him a small smile and walked off.
Maybe tomorrow I could get the chance to meet up and talk with him.

Macaque x Fangirl reader
"You must be my biggest fan." The hooded storyteller leaned down next to your seat. "I hope that journal isn't to steal my stories." He gestures to the open notebook in your lap.
"What?! No! No of course not." You promised hurriedly. "Your stories are so good but, they're yours. I couldn't tell them half as well. No I'm-" paused trying to collect your thoughts. You certainly had been taking notes but not to steal anything. It's just the story reminded you so much of someone.
The hooded figure smiled indulgently.
"And who is that?" He asked clearly meaning the sketches next to your notes.
Some heat flared to life in your cheeks.
"Oh that is my depiction of the six earred Macaque." You explained ensuring to keep your eyes glued to the journal. "He was the brother of the monkey king? Played a super important role." You rambled. "Actually your story reminds me of-" the words died in your throat as you saw his grin slowly turn into a slight frown.
"You.....you know about the six earred Macaque?" He said slowly.
You nodded slightly.
"He's my favorite. It's really unfortunate how he died." You mumbled with a shrug.
The figure seemed to flinch a bit but when you looked at him he pasted on a grin that felt a touch forced.
"Sooo....you're a fangirl?"
A blushed burned at your cheeks and you tensed.
"I wouldn't call it that!" You shook your head adamantly.
The figure chuckled.
"Hey it's nothing to be ashamed about. Although-" He sat next to you thoughtfully touching a hand to his chin. "Why does my story remind you of him?"
You blinked.
"Uhm well it's pretty well known that when Sun wukong and Macaque parted ways it wasn't under the most...ahem....amiable conditions."
For a moment you thought you heard the man mutter under his breath, 'No kidding' But you couldn't be sure.
"But Macaque was still pretty renowned in his own way and when they did work together they were virtually unstoppable!" You slipped into explanations and gushed about how cool you believed the monkey brothers were.
That was until your own brother ran into the theater.
"Y/n! I can't find Mei or the others any-" He stopped short suddenly and summoned his staff.
"Macaque. I should have known."
"Wha-"
"Get away from my sister. Now." M.k growled twirling the staff.
A low chuckle sounded behind you making you stiffen and slowly turn.
The man pulled back the hood to reveal a black monkey with purple eyes and a wicked grin.
"Ohohoho sister huh?" He looked at you with a risen brown and you felt your gut twist in knots.
"So... Fangirl." He addressed you stepping towards you. "Ready to meet the real deal?"
"I said-" Gold flared around M.k just before he launched at Macaque. "Get back!"
You screamed and raised your arms as purple and gold magic clashed and the resulting sonic blast threw you back into the bleachers.
"Careful there, bud." Macaque's mockery reached you just as your shadow morphed under you. "Wouldn't want someone to get hurt !"
At the last word the shadow opened a portal in the floor.
With a gasp you reached for M.k as you fell only to see him lunge for you.
"Y/N!" He shouted only for his fingertips to just brush your own before the world vanished into a void of black.
You came to with a groan touching a hand to your head.
"M.k you've got some explaining to do." Pigsy groused somewhere in the background as you got your bearings. Slowly, as the world righted yourself you spotted your journal.
You picked it up carefully as M.k dashed out the doors for some unknown reason. You flicked through the pages and froze on your latest page.
'To my biggest fan. Thanks for coming to the show. Was nice to hear someone remembers me. ' - Macaque.
You blinked and despite yourself you smiled slowly. Perhaps you really were a fangirl.

That said, I do think that Shadow Generations being such a more carefully cultivated exploration of Shadow's past compared to what the original Generations was for Sonic is... not doing Sonic himself any favors
General audiences are already kind of under the impression that Sonic as a character is fundamentally not that deep or interesting, and Generations was written during a time that really, really wanted to prove that notion right. Sonic "being deep" was what, seemingly, caused so much critical backlash, so to counteract that, they gave us the blandest cutscenes Sonic has ever had the displeasure of being in.
But that's not really what Sega is trying to push for, now. Frontiers wanted to be more serious, with a mature, down-to-earth Sonic. The movies gave him an origin story that inherently makes him a lot more complicated than usual. Prime put the focus on his emotions and gave him a character arc that lasted the whole show. The IDW comics can get extremely serious, and we're treated to Sonic's inner monologue as he wrestles with difficult choices. They clearly want Sonic as a character to be interesting to people, not just a vehicle for action and quips.
But putting the old Sonic Generations in the same package as the new Shadow Generations is inherently portraying them as equivalent experiences. When Sonic explores his past, it's no big deal - just another day on the hero job! Absolutely nothing worth exploring on his end when it comes to meeting his past self and revisiting his memories! Nope! No need to use time travel as a way to explore his core values as a person who prefers to live in the moment and not be bound by his past, no siree!
Oh, but Shadow? Now that's the actually interesting character! Revisiting Shadow's past is such an exciting event that it requires the whole year to hype up, and Sonic's just so boring in comparison, isn't he? Who really cares about Sonic beyond his surface-level characteristics anyway, right? The Sonic Generations remaster is more of an accessory to what's essentially Shadow the Hedgehog 2 at this point, and that bothers me.
Sure, Sonic doesn't have "a backstory" like Shadow does. But the past that we explore in Sonic Generations isn't his literal origins, but all the adventures we went on with him. Imagine how much depth you could wring out of him if you just took those events as being legitimate parts of his life that he has feelings on! Feelings we could explore!
But because it's a remaster instead of a full-blown remake, all of this effort they're putting into Shadow's campaign is nowhere to be seen in Sonic's. Can you imagine how good of a package deal this would be if Sonic's character was given this much care and respect, too? Like, we have two Sonics, but Shadow is getting more than double the favoritism.
And the fact that this is only going to continue to push the idea that Sonic is just. incapable of being interesting, or even really affected by what happens around him is really frustrating. We already have the movies and Prime drastically changing his demeanor and core traits for the sake of making him "able" to have character development, and as much as I love those versions as characters, it's really doing a disservice to who Sonic is supposed to be.
The last thing we need is for Generations to come out again and make the Sonic from the games seem like the least interesting version of him. Bringing Shadow up should not involve dragging Sonic down - they're supposed to be equals. But this game doesn't seem to be showcasing that very well, on account of essentially being two games written by different people haphazardly mashed together.
People being introduced to the series through this game are going to have such a skewed perception of what Sonic is like as a person, as well as what he's like compared to Shadow, and that just. makes me kinda upset not gonna lie
#sonic the hedgehog#shadow the hedgehog#sonic x shadow generations#sonic generations#sxsh generations#Make no mistake I'm looking forward to the new Shadow content with all my heart#but WHEN will my boy Sonic come back from Mischaracterization Hell

Six Years Ago
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Fortunately for them, the kid isn't good at subtlety. When he appears it is usually with a delayed boom announcing his arrival, like a crack of thunder to his lightning. And a hood pulled low over someone's face doesn't mean much when there's only one preteen in the world who can blow a fire out with his bare breath while floating in midair.
Unfortunately for them the kid is fast, see aforementioned "sonic boom". That is not to say Danny could not follow him anyway, but after the eighth time he heads to one of the kid's rescues and he flees before Danny can get a word out, Ellie is sitting at his kitchen counter heating up his leftovers.
"You need to cool it," she says, using her fang to pop open a sapporo. "He doesn't want to be found right now."
"Yeah, I got that." Danny says, swiping the beer out of the hands of what is technically a fourteen year old. She shoots him a scowl as the microwave dings.
"He's a child, and he's sick, Ellie." Even if Frostbite hadn't said as much, it hasn't escaped Danny's notice that in the past two months his speed has ever so slightly slowed. A particularly brave emergency worker had scolded Phantom for scaring him off this time around, concerned about his thin wrists.
"Gee, a sick child runaway, I wonder who that reminds me of," she says, tapping at her chin. She douses the chicken lo mein in sriracha.
"That's different. You knew to come find me, when it got bad. This kid is afraid of me." And he was. Whenever he and Danny met eyes the kid would go pale(r) with fear before zipping away.
"So make him less afraid."
Danny gapes at her. "Gee," he says slowly, a mimicry of her earlier sarcasm. "Why didn't I think of that."
"You're literally stalking the kid right now, you think I don't know about Tucker's alert system? Right now you must seem like the boss monster that shows up at the end of the level," Ellie says. "You need to approach this differently. Go slow, the way you did with me." She pauses, mouth twisting in a way that signals she's about to be reluctantly vulnerable with him.
"I didn't know what it was like to be...cared about. Properly. Before you guys. Even with the memories," she taps her head with the chopsticks, "It didn't click. But you showed me you would be there for me, even as you respected that I needed my space. You taught me how to trust you."
Danny takes a lengthy pull from the bottle he's still holding. "I can't be patient with him, Ellie," he says. He fiddles with the edge of the peeling label. "He's going to get worse."
"Yeah." Ellie says. "And I think you should let him."
---
The first time the backpack appears, Jon takes one look at the post-it with the scribbled stylized D and ":)" on it and tosses the whole thing in the trash before taking off.
He does the same the next four times, even as the backpack gets bulkier, its contents crashing together as it hits the nearest available dumpster.
He's in New York City after he saves a window washer from falling twenty stories when he sees his face plastered on a Times Square billboard. A hotdog stand owner in New York City offers him one on the house which he reluctantly accepts, trying to ignore the man's searching gaze.
He's not an idiot. He knows he's starting to look like crap, if the way the people react when they see him means anything. It's not like he smells, he regularly bathes in clean streams and lakes, but even when he eats coconuts and mangos and wild raspberries until his stomach is bursting and he has spent the last five minutes petting a giraffe on the head, feeling so giddy he almost forgets how his family is goneâhe feels...strange. Weaker. The cuts on his side and face from the evil robot with the green eyes have slowly scarred pink, and they still pull and sting if he stretches. Jon's never had a scar before, and now he has six. And he's losing weight.
A lot of the people he meets have been super nice about it, offering him food and, in a particularly cold area of Alaska, a zip up hoodie he now wears over his recognizable family crest. Not that doing so has stopped the white-haired guy from finding him. But it has allowed Jon to move around more freely when he isn't out rescuing people. He even made some cash in Wisconsin cleaning up a grocery store before the night shift manager had recognized his face.
This and the billboard means he stops to buy a pair of cheap glasses and a large t-shirt with the NYC skyline and shorts on it from a tourist shop. After, he takes a bus to New Jersey with the last of his money and changes in the bathroom. He bites back a sniffle when he peels his superhero costume from his body. He's suddenly overcome, poking a finger through the slashes in the side, and spends the rest of the trip with his head buried in his knees, trying to keep his hiccups quiet.
When he exits, he heads to the library he's already visited three times before. It's bad, to develop a routine like this when he is actively being hunted, but he can't help himself any more than he can help the way he sometimes sleeps in that barn in Kansas, the few times he feels like he can actually rest, surrounded by the familiar smell of animal and hay.
As he searches a few more terms that predictably turn up nothing on the public computer, he notes bitterly it's not like the man can't find him anyway. Just because he's backed off doesn't mean he isn't around, silently threatening Jon with randomly appearing backpacks. Each backpack is different too, as if Jon might be taking issue with the color purple rather than the scary guy providing them.
Jon pushes away from desk, waiting for the inevitable wave of despair that hits him after each Google session proves fruitless. He's even, in one moment of lunacy, searched Talia Al Ghul, thinking if anyone can find him after his search pings her servers it's herâ
But she never did come.
No one has.
Except for him.
The wave today is muted, lapping at his ankles rather than bowling him over, and somehow the resignation that accompanies it hurts more. He wants to do something, anything, and so he scoots back to the cubicle and types in white haired flying man, d symbol.
This is the first time he learns about Phantom.
---
The boy has started taking the backpacks.
Each one is filled with fresh meals in glass tupperware, meant to last for a while even without refrigeration (though with the boy's ice breath, maybe it's not a problem), as well as ziploc baggies filled with pretzels and carrots and goldfish and celery sticks.
("no peanut butter, he might have a nut allergy!"
"Wouldn't that have come up in Frostbite's scan?"
"You think Frostbite would've thought amidst scanning a little boy's half-alien body to check for a peanut allergy?"
"...Fair enough")
Alongside the meals are cash in the form of U.S. dollars, pounds, euros, yen, yuan, and an extreme hail mary in the form of an ATM card that Ellie rolls her eyes at every time Danny packs it.
There is also a miniature first aid kit, sans medicine but including ice and heat packs you can shake to activate. Danny wedges folded clothing in the spare edges of the bag, a blanket, and forces the zipper closed over a pair of high top sneakers similar to the ragged ones the boy wears. He tops every one with the same post-it drawing of his symbol, and a smiley face.
The boy is still weakening, beginning to look like a strong wind could blow him over even as he zips through mudslides in Colombia and scoops a father and son out of a rip current in Italy, but as he accepts the backpacks Danny listens to Ellie and waits.
And then one day Danny is watching him push a bus away from the edge of a sinkhole in Mexico, school kids pressed against the rear windshield watching him, and Danny hears the creaking of his bone right before the kid's arm snaps.
"Okay, fuck this," Danny says into the Fenton comms as the child wails, swooping down to grab the boy with one arm and the bus with the other.
The boy is too stunned to react, sobbing with pain as he cradles his arm protectively, and Danny shamelessly takes advantage of that as he gently but hurriedly places the bus beside the crowd of spectators.
A very small woman who immediately beelined for him as he landed smacks him in the shoulder, hissing at him in Spanish while several people try to hold her back. She smacks him again.
"I'm trying to help him. I promise. Ayuda." Danny says, shifting the boy into a more comfortable bridal carry.
"Ayuda? Help? You, you bad! El pobre niĂąo." The woman sneers. "Bad! ÂĄMal Fantasma! ÂĄEres un padre horrible!"
Danny knows what padre means, and even if he didn't, he's heard the rumors and conspiracies (and maybe even leveraged them in a conversation with the U.S. government, who can say) and he doesn't bother denying it, because the truth is he has let this child down from the moment he allowed him to be hunted on Skulker's island, and he deserves every nasty word and more.
"Yeah. I know," he tells the woman. In his ear, Sam demands to know what's happening. The boy is incoherent with pain, the outline of the bone pressing against his skin.
"It's going to be okay," Danny tells him, lifting off the ground. Regret is sour in his gut, bile on his tongue. What was he thinking? In the curl of his arms, the child is so small. This isn't a stray cat one coaxes into their home. This is a terrified little boy.
Danny isn't a fourteen-year-old too young and stupid to recognize he shouldn't let a two-month-old clone explore the world with his blessing. He's twenty-eight. He needs to get a grip.
He needs to be better.
The world stops. Everything goes quiet.
A blue portal unwinds via the hands of time.
"I see you're ready now." Clockwork says to him.
Danny wants to deny it, but the words are stuck in his throat. What use is denying what Clockwork already knows to be true?
"This is the right choice, Danny. Everything will be as it should be. Help him," Clockwork nods at the child. "Then find me."
Danny's tongue unsticks from his mouth. "Only if you tell me. If I do this, will he be safe? Will I have the power to protect him?" An echo of what waits to be unlocked drapes over his words, cracks appearing in the ground at his feet. "Tell me."
"Yes. You will keep him safe. Until he no longer needs you to do so. Here."
With a wave of his staff, a neon green portal rends through the air.
Clockwork drifts back to his own portal. "I will see you in Time, Danny."
Danny nods at him as he leaves, feeling a contract snap into place as time restarts at a crawl.
"Shh kiddo," he says as the boy, gradually unfreezing, trickles tears. "I've got you. You'll be okay. I'm going to fix this. I promise."
He steps through the portal, towards whatever comes next.

Hi!! Iâm not usually a big SonAmy fan as Iâve never really shipped sonic characters but your art is amazing and Iâve been seeing your work on and off for years :) this is the only *kinda SonAmy* thing I have on my phone so please enjoy XD hope you feel better soon!
Also wondered if you think Sonic and Amy wouldâve had any other romantic relationships with other people before getting together?? Like when they were working on themselvesâŚ? It would be interested to know your thoughts!
Ahhh this is one of my all time favorite scenes from the IDW comics! đĽ°đĽ°đĽ° It perfectly shows why I think they are such a perfect fit for each other.
Though everyone is entitled to their own theories and opinions, I personally donât see either of them having romantic relationships with anyone else, even if it ended up going nowhere and they ultimately ended up together. Amy is depicted as only having eyes for Sonic so I donât see her even entertaining the idea of going on a date with someone else (or maybe she would, but only to be nice. Not because sheâs interested). Meanwhile Sonic has made it very clear he is NOT interested in dating! If he did finally decide he wants to explore romance, I truly believe Amy is the only person who meets his criteria. She loves him for him, sheâs just as up for adventure as he is, sheâs positive and cares about others đĽ°
Iâm not saying anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong, this is just what I believe đ Thanks for sharing!

Between the Sea and the Sky!
Hi everybody! Meet the TWO new guys I made between last night and today! Their names are Tarmac (an Aeromorph dog) and Soda (a pooltoy fox), and they've filled a desire for these two specific kinds of OCs I've had in mind for MONTHS lol. They were super fun to design and draw and I'm super excited to do more with them soon!! This piece is relatively simple but more so serves as their introduction hehe
See more about them, including refs and some additional pieces/information below the cut :] (it kind of turns into a huge braindump lmao)
Tarmac is an aeromorph, although a bit more towards the furry side of things rather than the plane side lol. His design is influenced primarily by the Concorde and the Space Shuttle! I couldn't decide for the life of me which of those two things I wanted to use so I thought "why not use both?" and here we are lol. I'm super happy with his design, with the black/dark gray markings mean to emulate the look of the Space Shuttle's thermal insulation tiles and then I really like how the red and blue stand out against the gray. I really like his icon too! I wanted to make it look like a stylized depiction of a plane (mainly a Concorde hehe) breaking through the sound barrier with a sonic boon! In terms of personality, I don't have a whole lot in mind yet. Mostly that he'd be the brave, adventurous type and since he can fly both in the air and through space, he's gonna be friends with Astro too :3
Soda is a pooltoy fox! I have wanted to make a pooltoy OC FOREVER (blame my mutuals for always posting/reblogging so many cool pooltoy OCs hehe). I finally got brave enough to actually give it a shot, and I love how he came out! I was mainly just thinking about summery themes and as I was just trying out different colors and stuff, I thought about orange soda, and that's the direction I ended up going! He's got a big stupid tail [affectionate] and can have either rounded bappy hands or have actual fingers, you're free to stylize that either way! I've only ever drawn a pooltoy character once ever before, so this was something way out of my realm of familiarity, but I'm so happy with how he came out! He's so shaped I love him so much already <33
So those are my two new guys! Making two new OCs at the same time is already a rarity for me lol. The only time it's happened before was when I made Rye and Pumpernickel back in August of 2021. And then making these guys when I had only gotten Astro about two and a half weeks ago means this is an exceedingly rare event for me lmao. My friends know how infrequently I make/get new OCs, so this just goes to show how much these guys have been bouncing around in my brain lately lol.
They are definitely gonna have some sort of connection to each other, but I'm not sure how I wanna go about that yet. Since I made them back to back, they are already connected in my brain, but I'm not sure how I wanna express that in a meaningful way. I don't wanna make them siblings bc, well, they're obv very different from each other lol, but they're kinda parallels (with one being in the sky and the other being in the water yknow), so as of right now they're definitely good friends with each other. I might upgrade that to bfs at some point in the future, but we'll see how things go hehe.
Anyways huge braindump of a post lmao, thank u for reading if u did! I'd love to hear your thoughts on these guys since they're so different from all my other characters! Also if anyone may wanna do an art trade of either of these guys (or Astro as well! I'd like to get more art of him too!) let me know hehe

TIME TO LOVE AMY ROSE part 3:
(another repost of a 2022 post because i miss Amy in the trailer...)
Amy Rose movie Theory time
Ok let's start the theory with why would Amy end up in earth in the first place and how? Well in this theory of mine it will be for similar reasons as Tails and knuckles, few points to remember:
1. The chaos emeralds were conveniently spread out in space by Sonic himself and he and shadow conveniently will need it.
2. Lately the most recent version of Amy in both modern and Classic (that is the perfect version), Amy is someone ready to be a hero and take action and I inspired this theory thanks to this panel over heređđđ
You will my girl, you will absolutely prove your are a worthy warrior ( words probably said by Knuckles)
3. Unlike Tails who used his gadgets to know about sonic and about knuckles and how trace him to find him and unlike knuckles who always knew about him and hired people to find him... How would Amy know about sonic in the first place and how will she know how to find him? Are we forgetting something canon that Amy is skilled at besides swinging a hammer?đđđ
The fortune cards should be used in the movie your honor, literally Amy knows how to use magic with them cause she always nails it!
Know let's mix all the ingredients, i chose to write this as a prologue back story through Amy's pov:
Hi, nice to meet you my name is Amy Roseđ and I'm on an important mission to help save a different planet! Isn't it exciting?𤊠Oh yeah you're probably wondering how I ended carrying this mission and how i know where I'm going jeje đ¤cof cof well it's all thanks to this girls over here:- Amy's hands starts shining surrounded by some kind of pink electric light and a deck of cards shows up out of nowhere- impressed? đJiji this are fortune cards and I have mastered the ability to read them and they always tell me things i need to know, oh and these aren't the only thing I can summon, take a look at this: -Amy extended her arm straight with her palm open and again her hand is surrounded by pink electric light, this time the light grows bigger forming a shape and in a blink she is holding a giant hammer- cool isn't it? Your head won't get away uncracked if you fight me fellasđ¤ đ I can crack mountains
oh you also wonder where did I get all this stuff? Ok I'll tell you, bring the flashback:
Some years ago i was a little girl who ended up all on her own, i used to help in a food place but I wanted to do more than that and I craved to prove my independence and strength! Cause I was seen as a weak lonely nobody little girl so... I started to do boxing đĽđĽ and trained to be more athletic but it wasn't enough, i love boxing but I don't actually like to fight using my fists... and one day finishing my training next to a nice valley i found something... There were some kind of ruins hidden and I felt something calling me under some rocks and there were them... I found a bag with a full thick deck of cards surrounded with a shiny aura and I was so hypnotized with them, i remembered some tales and legends about some mysterious powers that came from the energy of chaos and I wondered if there were items with chaos powers too... As I was checking one by one the cards i stopped when I saw one with a big beautiful hammer image on it and I realized that what I was lacking for was a personal weapon and then... How do I describe this... Well the card started to shine and there was some pink electricity and there was an explotion boom đĽđ¤Ż and them poof the hammer of the picture fell on my hands!!! đś And I felt connected to it like with the cards and few years of training latter here I am! See? I was a bit more Little back them i guess it grew up with me or maybe Is because I'm stronger đŞđŞ Anyway I'm on this mission because... It happened again! I found a chaos item! A lot more powerful than my cards! It was an chaos emerald! I learnt about them thank to the cards knowledge because like I said they always tell me what I need to know and in fact when I tripped with the emerald while training the cards reacted to it and gave me my mission:
"A foreign whole planet is in grave danger, a future legendary hedgehog hero needs the emerald to save that world so you must give it to him"
And that's what I'm doing! Traveling between worlds until I find that hedgehog hero! And I hope he lets me help save that world! I'm so exited to finally have a chance to prove myself!!!đđ¤
Next post will be my theory about with who will be living Amy Rose at the end of the movie
He is a hedgehog like me... I wonder how he looks... He must be handsome! đ¤đI hope I can recognize who he is... I don't want to give the emerald to the wrong person and make a fool of myself... Enough Amy! Be more confident đŁđŁ ok ok I'm fine, let's do this! đŞđ¤ Is going to be fine! Uff I can already feel the upcoming danger... How curious... I feel like someone is following me? (đŚ) I have to protect the emerald! Let's go! I'll see you later! Hope you liked my story! đđ

Son of the Red Hood: Reunions and First Meetings
Master Post
Jason was once again at the end of his rope. He had this wonderful, amazing kid in his life who could fly and float through walls, and influence his Pit Rage, and smiled like the sun, and all in all was still a kid. And sometimes kids threw fits.Â
He had taken Danny to an abandoned and fenced off lot so the kid could get some practice with his powers where no one would see them. He hadnât wanted Dannyâs toys to be forgotten or dirtied in the lot, so he had made sure to leave behind his stuffed animals. Something Danny had taken incredible offense to.Â
Of course the tyke hadnât realized until they were in the abandoned lot, blocks away from Jasonâs apartment that his toys had been left behind. And he was now bawling his eyes out, screaming at the top of his lungs for his toys. He was once again starkly reminded that Danny was a meta and many of his powers were tied to his emotions. Jason could only feel sympathy for what the Kents had to deal with when they were raising Clark. They even had to deal with a super powered toddlerâs terrible twos.Â
âI want my Jazztronaut! I want my Wonder Bear!â Danny screamed.Â
Each scream rattled the walls around them and set off distant car alarms. Jason had brought his Red Hood gear so that if anyone saw them they wouldnât recognize them and he was thankful he had as the sonic protections in the helmet activated and muffled his hearing. Though the fact that he could still hear his kid over the protections showed just how loud Danny could be.Â
âI promise kiddo, we can go back and grab your bears! Iâll grab them as soon as I can, but you have to calm down.â Jason tried to reason, but one thing he knew from helping with the street kids in Crime Alley, sometimes a child just doesnât want to be reasoned with.Â
âI want Wonder Woman! I want Wonder Woman!â Danny shrieked even louder.Â
Jason clamped his hands uselessly over the ear holes of his helmet as he staggered back. Holy shit this kid had a pair of pipes on him. If he didnât have his helmet on he might be deaf now.Â
âDanny, Iâm sorry I forgot your bear.â Jason tried again, and Danny fell silent in surprise. He sniffed and his lip wobbled. What the hell was this kidâs life that someone apologizing to him got this kind of reaction?Â
âIâm sorry I yelled.â Danny whispered back, tears running down his face, though he was tense like he expected to be yelled at or worse.Â
âHey, itâs ok buddy.â Jason pulled his helmet off and he pulled the kid into his lap. âSometimes your emotions can get too big for your body, I understand that. I really am sorry that I didnât bring your bears. Iâll go get them soon, ok? But I canât leave you alone to grab them.âÂ
âPerhaps I can be of some help?âÂ
Jason tensed as a womanâs voice sounded in the lot. He shifted Danny so he was protecting him with his body as a tall woman with black hair approached. She had greasy and sweat stained work out clothes, just like every other thug in the city, but she towered over him where he was sitting on the ground. He reached as subtly as he could for his gun, then paused as she stepped into the light.Â
âWait, Aunt Diana?â Jason asked, perplexed.Â
âHello, little Warrior.â Diana said with a small smile. Then she knelt down next to Danny. âAnd hello you too, little King.âÂ
Danny, his little devilish meta child, actually blushed at her attention.Â
âIâm not a king yet.â He said softly.Â
âI know. And yet I have followed your call for me and found you.â Diana said with all the gravitas she reserved for meeting foreign diplomats.Â
âI thought I knew what was happening, but now Iâm not so sure.â Jason said softly before he rose to his feet, lifting Danny onto his hip.Â
âIâm not certain I can explain everything, but I can shed some light.â Diana said, standing as well, before addressing Danny. âAre you aware of someone by the name of Clockwork?âÂ
Dannyâs eyes lit up and started glowing as he smiled.Â
âGrandpa Clocky! Heâs always tellinâ me boring things that I need to do and learn. But he keeps me safe and cares about me.âÂ
âYes, well your grandfather has a few other grandchildren, one of which is me.â Diana held her hand out and shook Dannyâs little, tiny hand. âDiana Prince. Some call me Wonder Woman.âÂ
Dannyâs eyes glowed even brighter and he floated out of Jasonâs arms.Â
âSo weâre like cousins! Or something!â
âYes. Or something. And Clockwork sent me to find you, so you can be trained properly for when the crown is yours.âÂ
Jason genuinely couldnât tell if Diana was being serious or if she was playing along, but either way he was grateful that she had appeared when she did and even more grateful that she seemed to be willing to help train Danny.Â
âThank you so much Aunt Diana.â Jason said with a smile. âMaybe you and I can talk about a training schedule together. In the meantime would you mind watching him while I go and grab the teddy bears that caused all this?â
âOf course. My cousin and I will get to know each other.â Diana said and gave Danny a warm smile.Â
Jason pulled his grapple and left to return to his apartment, happy with the knowledge that Danny was safe with Diana. Though he had a lot of questions about why she had called him a king, and who the hell Clockwork was.Â
.
Jazz had been on the move almost non stop ever since she had woken up yesterday. Her parents were dead. The portal in Amity was destroyed. Angela had said that Danny was killed by the blast too. But he wasnât. She knew he wasnât. She didnât need the boo-merang to tell her that Danny was still out there somewhere. He was alive, and she would find him.
She had only stopped moving long enough to pass out in her car for a few hours during the drive to Gotham City. She was following a faint trail, a mere pressure in her mind that was leading her closer and closer to where her brother was. Whatever ecto contamination her parents had done to her over the years had given her a connection to her brother and she would follow that connection to the very jaws of hell itself if she had to.
She was running on fumes now. So was her car. She had made it into Gotham and the pull brought her to one of the poorer neighborhoods. In fact it looked like it was the poorest and most crime ridden part of the city. Graffiti covered every wall, and multiple burnt out wrecks of cars littered the sides of the streets.
Jazz slammed on the brakes and opened her car door. She was next to an abandoned and fenced off lot and her brother was here. She could feel him. She dashed tears and sweat from her eyes, slung her weapons over her shoulder and tied her hair back. When she left her car she left it with the door open and the key in the ignition. She doubted it would start again and she didnât care enough, all she cared about was her brother.
She crouched next to the fence and leaped, putting her ectoplasmic strength into the jump as she easily cleared the twelve foot tall fence. She landed on the other side in another crouch, her eyes zeroing in on the woman standing in the middle of the lot.
The woman was easily as tall as Jazz and she was 6'8" thanks to the ectoplasm in her veins. The woman had long black hair and was built like an absolute tank. She was wearing work out clothes that showed off all of her muscles. If Jazz were in a better mental state she would be jealous.
But all she could focus on was the toddler just past the woman. The small, black haired, blue eyed boy that was her entire world. Danny. He was younger and smaller than he should be, but she would recognize him anywhere, and she had enough experience with ghostly shenanigans to recognize a simple deaging. She could deal with that later, now she just needed to recover her brother.
âGive him to me!â Jazz demanded as she stormed closer.
The beefy woman was between her and Danny, she couldnât risk angering her, but all the words were trapped in her mind. All the deescalation techniques she learned, all the psychology she dedicated herself to, was all trapped and stuck. The woman turned to face her and Jazz pulled out her creep stick, her hands shaking.
âGive him to me.â She said again, the words feeling like nails dragging past her throat yet it was all she could say.
âIâm afraid I canât do that.â The woman said. She kept her hands open and spread apart. Some small part of Jazzâs mind said that she was trying to keep her body language open and friendly. But that part was overshadowed by her fear and her exhaustion.
âGive him to me!â She shrieked, wondering if she should be coughing up blood with how difficult the words were to drag out. She dashed forward and swung her creepstick. The woman blocked the blow with her forearm, but Jazz swung again and again. Each blow the woman either blocked or dodged without any visible effort.
âYou have skills sister.â The woman said and she went on the attack.
Now Jazz was getting driven back across the lot. She was clearly out matched in every possible way, but she couldnât back down. That was her brother. That was her brother. That was her brother. Danny. Danny. Danny.
The woman twisted her body and with a powerful kick the creepstick was sent flying across the yard. Jazz didnât give her a moment to gloat at disarming her and instead pushed forward with her bare fists and legs, using all her skill with martial arts, managing to push the other woman back one step at a time. Still she looked calm and confident as if she did this every single day.
Jazz ducked under one of the womanâs blows and managed to pull her knife. She thrust the blade forward with all her might, putting her full ectoplasm enhanced strength behind the blow. And watched in horror as the blade shattered against the womanâs shoulder.
âWell struck!â The woman seemed genuinely impressed. Then she twisted and almost without effort threw Jazz to the ground.
Jazz gasped in air as she stared up at her, then passed her to where her brother hovered in the air, watching like this was all an exciting movie.
âPlease.â She forced the word out, like broken glass down her throat. âGive him to me.â
She begged. Desperately. The woman startled and pulled a long rope from under her sweats. With a flick of her wrist the cord wrapped around Jazzâs body.
âWeâll soon find the truth of this. Why do you want the boy?â
The cord glowed around her and even past her pain and her fear and her exhaustion the words came.
âHeâs my brother.â
She gasped the words out.
âHeâs my brother.â
Her throat was closing and her breath was coming faster and faster. Her own fist collided with her forehead.
âHeâs my brother.â
She sobbed the words out, her vision fading as she hit herself again. A high pitched keening noise pulled itself out of her, no more words were coming, just her raw expression of grief and longing and she hit herself again. She smacked her fist into her forehead and when she went to do it again, she felt a tiny hand wrap around her wrist.
âNo Jazz! No hurting. No hurting.â
Dannyâs little voice. Just like when he was first a child and would help her when she melted down. When her parents ignored her desire not to be touched, when they made her speak even when the words hurt like gargling acid, when the noise of the lab wouldnât stop and pounded into her head like a jack hammer. He was always there for her, ever since he had understood what she was doing and why.Â
She didnât try to pull her arm out of his hand but she hit herself again with her other hand. She could hear Danny begging her to stop, but she couldnât, she couldnât, she couldnât. She went to hit herself again and a strong, calloused hand grabbed her wrist, then just as gently as if she were something precious and valuable held her other hand to keep her from hurting herself.
âNow, young one, there is no call for that.â
âJazz itâs ok.â Danny whispered, because he knew the loud voices bothered her. Then he started humming, so softly she could barely feel it, yet his humming vibrated with ectoplasm and carried down all the way to her infant ghost core.
He was hugging her and holding her and humming to her and slowly, muscle by muscle her tension unwound. She could think again, she didnât think she would be able to speak yet, but at the very least she could pull her wrists from the gentle hold of the other woman and wrap her arms around her little brother.
She held her brother, her Danny and sobbed and sobbed. She had gone through too much. She had been told she had lost her parents and that everyone she loved, including her beloved brother were dead, her home destroyed. Then she had driven half way across the country following a desperate thread to try and find him only to be beaten by the first stranger she encountered. But at the very least, she had her brother back in her arms again. Just like she was supposed to.
.
Diana watched the young woman cry, raw grief tearing its way through her. Jason had asked her to watch over the little King, and she would do so. She couldnât hand the child over to the obviously distressed woman who had demanded him. She had defended herself, just like she would do during any of the spars with her sisters on Themyscira.Â
However, she had misjudged her opponent. This woman was not fighting with the relaxed energy of a friendly spar. She was desperately fighting, just as she had desperately begged for the boy. Lord Clockwork had not mentioned that the little King would have any siblings, but perhaps it merely showed that the Lord of Time still needed to learn the importance of mortal lives.Â
Even without the magic of the Lasso of Truth, Diana could see the love Danny had for his sister. She could see the way he knew exactly how to stop her from harming herself. How the young woman, the King had called her Jazz, didnât risk harming the child when he held her wrist, instead using her other hand.Â
Now she could see the love, almost like a physical aura off the two young ones. She had found her charge, the young King she was to train, she had found him with an able caretaker, and she had found him in time to see the reunion between the King and his sister. Maybe she would have another to train and to teach, and the young King would have a valiant protector.Â
She turned at the sound of a grapple and Jason landed next to her, two teddy bears in his hand. One was dressed as an astronaut and the other was wearing a cloth version of Dianaâs own armor. He was staring at the woman who was sobbing and holding Danny as if he were the most precious thing in the world.Â
âWhat the hell did I miss?âÂ

Elise & the Duke
Elise's relationship with her father isn't discussed very much. I think it's actually one of the most interesting aspects about 06.
In a flashback, he's shown telling a young Elise "Don't cry" and "Become a strong queen who doesn't cry no matter what happens" in response to her grieving over her mother's death, which is...not great. A child should be allowed to grieve over their deceased parent. Although the Duke means well and says this because he genuinely believes strong leaders never cry (which is far from the truth), that doesn't make what he's doing okay. It doesn't matter that he's saying it in a soft and gentle tone, either. To a child, it's likely gonna seem like a dismissal of their feelings (which it is). This also shows that he was telling Elise to never cry before he used her as a vessel to seal Iblis.
Another thing I find interesting is that Elise says "I understand everything my parents said to me now." It could imply that Elise's mother held the same sentiment as the Duke, but we don't know for sure.
Now, onto the Solaris Project. Some time before the project began, the Duke told Elise that Solaris' power would allow them to travel through time and rectify past mistakes. The main reason the Duke began the project was so Elise could see her late mother again. Once again, good intentions, but the Duke experimenting with supernatural forces beyond his understanding cost him his life and hurt many people, perhaps his daughter most of all.
So long story short, the project goes wrong and the Duke is fatally wounded in an explosion but shortly before his death, he sealed the Flames of Disaster in Elise and pretty much left her clean up his mess. She was cursed to never shed a single tear, had to rule an entire kingdom at a young age, is relentlessly pursued and kidnapped by a madman who wants to harness her power, and when she makes a single friend, he gets murdered right before her eyes by the creature that her father experimented on all those years ago. Elise is suffering the consequences for her father's actions.
And how does Elise feel about her father after all this? She still loves him deeply. She doesn't express any anger towards him or angst about the way he treated her, or that he inadvertently caused her suffering, even though she has every right to do so. You get the sense that she doesn't realize her father's "love" was actually quite abusive, which is just really tragic. At the start of the game, Elise lacks confidence, is unsure of what she can do in her situation, and even blames herself for the things that are happening. Her attitude gradually changes when she meets Sonic, who encourages her to be more proactive and truly enjoy life instead of being restricted by her role as a princess.
Yet people get on Elise's case for breaking down once at the tail end of the game over the fact that she'd lose the memories of her only friend and would be separated from him?
Elise doesn't mean what she said in this moment, and blows out Solaris' flame to save the world seconds later. She had to bottle up her emotions for a decade and now has to say goodbye to the person whom she grew to love over the course of their adventure. Her reaction here is more than justified.
Elise is such a good character đ¤

Dadow Boom AU snippets and ideas while I try to make sense of it! Hooray! :D
Shadow having a soft spot towards kids, especially his own, means Tails is off limits when/if fighting. He dodges all attacks made by the young fox and tries to disarm him without dealing damage. Heâll even step in if Eggmanâs attacking and heâs around to help protect Tails.
Silver is around 8 biologically, but 1,000+ chronologically. Heâs a little shorter than Tails.
Warning to all villains: Do not, I repeat, DO NOT try to kidnap Silver and hold him hostage against Shadow! Heâll have you begging for the sweet release of death! Kidnapping Silver is a one-way ticket to hell!
Silver gets along with Tails well. Silver doesnât always understand him, but he tries his best, and Tails appreciates his efforts to understand and honesty when he doesnât.
Shadow does his best to keep their past under lock and key, but sometimes, Silver will say something that sounds like they were struggling a lot before finding Bygone Island.
Silverâs still practicing his telekinesis, but heâs very good at it! According to Shadow, the edgy looking hedgehog himself was accidentally and quite literally tossed across the room by Silver once. Knuckles and Sonic arenât allowed to help Shadow teach Silver because they tried making him do all these things that were dangerous.
Shadow is a tired single parent, Sonic and Amy are both working together and fighting each other to make him not a single parent. Shadow doesnât understand what they see in him. Silver disapproves of them flirting with his dad.
The reason they fought in the first place was because Team Sonic took some strange crystals that Shadow needed, so he went to get them back and it escalated into a fight when they refused.
Eggman once picked Silver up because he thought he was a lost child because Silver was practicing his teleportation skills and showed up at his door. It took Shadow so much not to rip Eggmanâs head off when he discovered that Silver was in Eggmanâs lair.
Shadow being unbelievably pissed and out for blood if someone dares to lay a hand on his son, partially due to past experiences.
Shadow growing Black Arms features (tail, third eye, wings, bigger claws) when he either needs it or when he just wants to. Silver is completely used to this âmonster formâ as Sticks put it and will ask to be carried during flights.
Because Silver was created with significantly more hedgehog DNA, the only Black Arms feature he actually has is a longer tail, which is still white. Theyâre not quite sure where the extra fluff came from, but maybe heâll grow out of it? (Spoiler alert: He didnât.)
Here are a few bits Iâve thought of, but might not fit in this AU.
Possible Sticks and Shadow meeting before the rest of the group?? Sticks being an honorary aunt for Silver?? Sticks and Shadow solidarity. Sticks making âold manâ jokes towards Shadow. Sticks not asking Shadow much about the whole âhalf alienâ thing or much of his past, just enough to understand the bare minimum and then stop despite her curiosity.
âHey, Sticks, is your friend single by any chance?â â Sonic
Silver climbing on Shadow, pouncing on him, pulling him, shaking him, whatever it takes to get him up so they can play while the rest of the group watches in horror. Shadow either suddenly waking up from a fake sleep at just the right time and grabbing him, or does the whole âAlright, Iâm up, Iâm upâ thing. Just the group being surprised how patient he is with Silver, I guess.
I donât usually headcanon Shadow showing signs of age or having old scars because the scars are supposed to heal completely and he doesnât age, but I think this shall be an exception and give Shadow maybe one or two old scars. Maybe. I havenât decided yet.

Over the past week I've thought about what it'd be like to have Scourge in the main world of Sonic. I wanted to keep the whole "sonic copy" concept while completely ditching the whole alternate evil universe direction from Archie (and make him redeemable to boot, lol)- and now got an AU developed because of it.
Alotta text so you can read it under the cut!
The idea is that this hedgehog started off as a nobody in a small town, unseen and unnoticed. He'd had heard of and admired Sonic for being a cool hero that everyone loved and respected, wishing to have the opportunity to become that himself.
One day he does get that opportunity when a group of thieves invades his town. Seeing others in trouble, he takes the risk and jumps in to help, managing to stop them and gaining his scars-- which not only make him stand out but also gets him recognized as a hero. He latches onto this, his first time being acknowledged by others, and uses the only example of a hero he knows: Sonic the hedgehog.
Overtime he reinvents himself, putting on this "cool dude with a tude" persona and completely ditching any bit of his past self, taking queues and knowledge from what he believes made Sonic so admired. Considering it his time to be "reborn" as someone better, he takes on the moniker of Scourge (no one knows what his past name was, not that it matters anymore).
He becomes a small town hero, keeping the place safe and really living in the limelight. During this time he meets Fiona, and they partner up to form a heroes for hire team, eventually leaving town to take on bigger jobs so that their fame can spread.
All is well- until they take on a job they can't handle and sonic comes along, showing them up. This really strikes a nerve with Scourge, fearing getting shoved back into the shadows, and Fiona, who does not plan on losing this new popularity.
They come up with a plan to join the resistance to get information on bigger 'jobs' so they can strike before Sonic and his friends can.
Whew, there's more to this but I wanted to get the main concept outta the way first. Will post more on this later!

People who like Amy Rose are right that Amy is so much more than just her crush on Sonic. But they always kind of fall into this trap where they ONLY ever talk about her virtues. The positive attributes of her character. They glaze her up. They say "Amy Rose is a great character because she's a Good Person" and that kind of thing.
And that's a trap and it's what allows people to mischaracterize Amy and butcher her portrayals in shit like Sonic Boom and IDW Sonic. Because Amy is actually a crazy stupid bitch. And THAT is what makes her a great character. If you want to explain what makes Amy so great as a character, you need to talk about her flaws in addition to her virtues. Because her flaws being sandpapered away and disregarded because they're "sexist" or "problematic" are the REASON her character keeps getting fucked up and then that fucked up characterization gets held up as an "improvement" by people who never liked Amy.
Amy FROM HER VERY FIRST APPEARANCE in Sonic CD was an annoying clinger. LITERALLY. She would jump onto Sonic and cling onto him, making it impossible for him to move. When she meets Sonic at the ending of Palm Tree Panic she is literally an obstacle that you as the player need to avoid, and jump to shake her off when she grabs hold of you. And after the Metal Sonic fight, the act will not conclude until Amy grabs hold of Sonic. Stopping him from running off screen to the right, the way he does at the end of every other boss act. And the score screen showing the end of the act will ALWAYS last just long enough for Sonic's idle animation of frustrated impatience to start. From her very first appearance, Amy is an annoying bitch. This is a FOUNDATIONAL attribute of her character.
In Sonic Adventure Amy's story opens with her complaining about how bored she is, and how she misses the excitement of going on adventures with Sonic. Then when Birdie crashes into her she takes it upon herself to help this lost animal who is being targeted by killer robots. She is throwing herself in harms way risking her personal safety on behalf of a creature that is weaker than her.... PARTIALLY because she was bored and thinks this will be exciting. SelfISH motivations for selfLESS actions. And it pays off when she runs into Sonic and uses the whole situation of the Birdie needing protection as an excuse to get to spend time around Sonic by imposing the need for a bodyguard onto him without giving any thoughts to what Sonic might be up to.
THEN WHEN THE KILLER ROBOT COMES BARING DOWN ON THEM, AMY GETS CAUGHT UP IN THE IDEA OF A ROMANTIC DATE THROUGH TWINKLE PARK WITH SONIC AND RUNS OFF IN A FLIGHT OF FANCY WHICH COMPLETELY DISTRACTS HIM FROM FIGHTING SAID ROBOT.
Amy is immature, selfish, does NOT have her priorities straight, and is kind of dumb. These flaws and shortcomings being ignored and disregarded is why Amy gets turned into the sensible mature voice of reason with a good head on her shoulders - which is the EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHO SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE. These are character flaws that have NOTHING to do with her obsession with Sonic. But because her feelings towards Sonic are all anyone ever talks about, and because people who like Amy always want to present her in the most positive framing, these elements of her character getting sanitized are ignored.
Amy being sort of a super fucking annoying dumbass is WHY she gets treated like a punchline in games like Sonic Adventure 2. She gets caught up in her own little world, and because of that she gets left behind when everyone else is focused on more pressing issues right in front of their nose. All of her interactions with other characters in Sonic Battle are about how she's caught up in her little delusions about Emerl being her and Sonic's baby, and she lashes out violently at anyone who challenges that. You cannot have Amy without her being kind of crazy and kind of dumb.
Because these flaws are the REASON she's capable of her virtues. If Amy wasn't always getting swept up in her own little ideas, she wouldn't be there to find Shadow on the ARK and get him to remember Maria's wish and convince him to save the day. If Amy wasn't always charging off on her own flights of fancy, she wouldn't be the spunky little ball of energy and inspiration that helped Cream and Big rescue Chocola and Froggy. If Amy wasn't obsessively in love with Sonic, she wouldn't have gotten Blaze softened up to the idea of not needing to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders.
I've not put much focus on Amy's virtues in this post because I wanted to emphasize her flaws and shortcomings, BECAUSE I feel those are important parts of her character that always get ignored. And ignoring those parts of her character make them easy to get swept under the rug. And that more than anything else is what results in Amy being mutilated in spin offs like the comics and cartoons.
Amy is more than JUST her crush on Sonic. She is more than just her hobbies. She is more than just her virtues! She is ALL of those things. And she is also REALLY fucking dumb. And REALLY fucking crazy. And those things should be celebrated as part of the whole of Amy Rose JUST as much as her love for Sonic, just as much as her enjoyment of fortune card reading and shopping and boxcersizing, just as much as her being a spunky inspirational leader who reaches out and touches the hearts of others and risks it all to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Love Amy Rose warts and all, or lose her.

Hot Take! Nineâs Redemption Arc Was Rushed
Iâm usually positive on this blog, but I believe itâs important to have a balance. Thisâll be my longest post yet, so buckle your seatbelts. Itâs going to be a bumpy ride.
Quick Positive Points
I like the idea of an antagonistic Tails. Nineâs amazingly voiced by a VA I recognize. His design is awesome. His attitude and sarcasm can be entertaining. Nine saving Sonicâs skin when dealing with the Chaos Council was nice. The scene with Nine and Mr.Doctor Eggman talking about Sonic is one of my favorite moments. The thought of creating robots who look like the other characters as if Nine still wanted friends was neat. (even if he tried to kill with them) And despite my grievances, I thought Nineâs hug with Sonic at the end was adorable. The animation is what helped with that.
Introduction
While I do like Nine, Iâm going to talk about my glaring issues with his character development. I can see both sides of the argument, but let me tell you why thereâs more proof of Nine not being well written. I will implore you to think for yourselves regardless of what I have to say. We all have our opinions and Iâm only here to share mine.
Nineâs Characterization
This is how the fox carry himself throughout the show and why most of it isnât written well. Iâll state my issues with Sonic in certain moments too.
Season One
Nineâs reasonably defensive at first when Sonic came to his home out of nowhere. He became annoyed by Sonicâs immaturity yet concerned for him once theyâre captured. After they meet the Rebels, his sassiness begins to show. Replying âYouâre welcome,â after saving Sonic by taking control of Rusty. Having a direct and harsh tone when advising others to take the Chaos Councilâs shard. And not seeming to care about the rest of the group who gets trapped with Mr. Doctor Eggman.
Nine: âSonic we have to get to the core!â âYou heard her come on!â This I understand because Nine doesnât know them, so they donât really matter to him. But then Nine dismisses Sonicâs feelings even after he asked âare you okay?â Because he noticed the hedgehog was a little off.
-Because Sonic started remembering the events that happened to him before he broke the Paradox Prism.
After Sonic realized the prism shattering was his fault Nine says, âSnap back to reality! Grab that shard and weâll sort the rest out later!â Then when Sonic stated the original Tails told him not to touch it Nine states, âWell, Iâm telling you the opposite! Now grab it and letâs go!â Not realizing if Sonic is the reason for the prism being small, his original variant mightâve known touching it was a bad idea. I also canât forget about these lines.
Sonic: âIf thereâs anyone whoâs got the brains to put it all back together, itâs you.â Nine: âThatâs the first thing youâve said that I agree with.â Nice ego for a person who ends up getting Sonic sucked up by the prism after being warned. Back to what I was saying before, Nine seems to only care about stealing the shard away from the Eggmen here. Which is proven later on in season one. His care for Sonic has progressed, but Sonic learns from the Rebels that Nine abandoned them. And itâs never addressed by Sonic.
-Sonic also insist Nineâs ânot a traitorâ without any proof. Sonic hasnât known Nine that long. The last time Sonic saw the fox, he ended up getting the hedgehog sucked into another shatterspace. Unless Sonicâs talking about Nine working with the group. But Iâd argue it was more for Sonic and his own sake. Especially since Nine left the Rebels and Rusty at the drop of a hat.
When Nine comes to help Sonic, he shows off the Grim and discuss how itâs âTheir bright new future.â Wanting to live in the Grim with Sonic. Even after the last time he saw Sonic, Nine knew how distraught Sonic felt about losing his home. Again, Sonic stated he believed Nine could put the prism back together. Meaning his original friends and world would come back. But Nine immediately assumes Sonic would be happy living with him for the rest of his life. Which is sweet on paper but very messed up in execution. Iâll get into why later. To be fair, Nineâs never had a friend before and was bullied for most of his life. His social skills arenât the best and he isnât use to caring about others. But even if Nine didnât understand empathy, he has no reason to believe Sonic would forget about his home just because Nine didnât care about his.
Nine: âThat city hasnât brought me anything but misery. I owe it nothing.â He hasnât been around Sonic for long either, but Sonicâs demonstrated his loyalty before. By worrying about the Rebels instead of the shard while Nine did vise versa. Anyways, Sonic explains he needs to save the Rebels. Nine being Nine didnât care about them, but came to help anyways because he âcared about Sonic.â Iâd say Nine only helped because he thought Sonic would join him after getting the other shards, but thatâs my opinion.
Nine: âWith enough fortifications and enough shard energy, this could be home.â Because of this line, I believe he already knew about the other shards before Sonic. Which is also why he knew what Sonic was doing in season two. He also says, âWhen this is over, Iâm going home and never looking back. Whether I go it alone is entirely up to you.â Still assuming things.
-Sonic doesnât give Nine an answer for some reason. Only responding with âI knew youâd come back, buddy.â Projecting how heâd expect Tails to act. Which becomes a serious problem later.
Season Two
Throughout this season, Nine helped Sonic collect the shards. Which was a bonus to keep developing the Grim.
-Sonic and the Rebels have another debate on trusting Nine. At least this time when Sonic says âHe saved you,â itâs true. Nine took down the Doctors before Sonic and co got killed. Iâd still argue it was for Sonic, but Nine still saved their lives despite his intentions.
Iâll also admit when Mr.Doc used Nine, it was reasonable for him to feel as if he had no choice. He even apologizes to Sonic. We even learn how Nine first fount the Grim and see him make a hammock for Sonic. But the positives goes down hill once we get into the shard chase between Nine, Sonic, and the villains. Once away from the Docs Sonic stated, âOh, things are finally coming together. Weâve got the shards! We can finally fix everything!â Heâs still obviously talking about Green Hill and his friends. But Nine doesnât notice this. Instead he says, âItâs going to be perfect.â Very specific you two. Nine seems to suddenly believe Sonic changed his mind and Sonic still thinks Nine and Tails are one and the same.
Dude even calls the fox âTails Nine,â while introducing him to another character. What are the odds? Later on Nine says, âIf you like surprises, wait until you see what Iâve got going on in the Grim.â Sonic responds with, âGrim? Cool. Canât wait to here more. But right now, weâve gotta get to Ghost Hill.â Talking as if if the Grim was an afterthought. Then the two talk about bringing the prism back together without knowing what the otherâs thoughts were behind it.
Even if they didnât have time to discuss things, I think they shouldâve explained something to each other during the chase or before Sonic left to help the Rebels in S1. That way the unfortunate occurrence couldâve been avoided later on, but weâll cross that bridge soon enough. Anyways, after the goose chase, they meet up with Shadow, who reasonably doesnât trust Nine.
-The Blue blur defended the fox again with his projecting his friends onto strangers self. Itâs also weird how often this dude doesnât listen to anyone while also wondering why no one wonât listen to him.
After Nine put one of the shards back together and it brought everything back for a split second. Sonic: âReality was flipping out over here.â âGreen Hill was back and so were my friends.â Which mustâve went in and out of Nineâs ears because this show has no time for the characters to communicate properly. Instead of listening, Nine interrupts the hedgehog and shenanigans ensues.
After said shenanigans, another argument scene happens. Except somehow, itâs worsts then the last. Iâll criticize both characters. I want to address the âSonic projectingâ discussion first. I know people think Sonicâs wrong for doing it (he is) but I believe heâs doing it as a coping mechanism. Since his friends are replaced by ghost who repeat themselves and a bunch strangers who look like them, he might not be able to help it. I give him a bit of slack because we all know what heâs been through. Prime!Sonic is also a very sincere version of Sonic who instantly feels guilt. Even if he doesnât completely understand what he did wrong.
For example, in the first episode, Tails didnât tell Sonic why he was upset with him. He just said, âItâs cool really.â Tails brushes things off instead of discussing them. I can see where Sonic is coming from. What I wonât excuse is Sonic having a terrible amount of trust in Nine. Iâll discuss this in S3âs issues. And the rest Iâll summon up to Sonic never addressing problems which mightâve needed to be addressed. Like Green Hill almost coming back and other stuff Iâve already mentioned. Onto the fox. This argument might be a great time for Nine to explain what his plans are instead of saying, âWeâre not making your old world. Weâre building a better one.â Implying Sonicâs original world is inferior and he should deal with it being gone.
When Sonic says, âI think we can get it back.â Nine responds with, âYouâre wrong about that.â Despite Sonic in the same episode said minutes before, âGreen Hill was back and so were my friends.â Did the fox forget? Is he lying? Or does he not care? Iâll go with the writers forgetting about this line since it never gets mentioned again. Which seems to be a trope in this show. I understand Sonicâs done plenty of wrong when it comes to Nine as well, but I donât see how Sonic wanting to fix the problem he made in the first place as selfish. Especially since Sonicâs not the only one who wants Green Hill back. Shadowâs dealing with the consequences too.
The âwhatâll happen to me when you bring your friends back,â issue is never explored. Thereâs no confirmation on what happens, so this comment basically means nothing. Also, Sonic living with Nine forever is messed up. It implies Sonic and Shadow never going home. And their friends would stay ghost forever. Dead to be specific. Not to mention Nineâs home would be a copy of what Sonic use to have. Youâre telling me Sonic The Hedgehog would allow his freedom to end because of a self centered fox who wouldnât care if he wanted to go home? I could continue, but Iâll stop here. In the end, Sonic and Nine were both wrong. You could argue Sonic never said ânoâ to staying with Nine, but Sonic saying in S1 âItâs not going anywhereâ was all Nine needed to hear. Sonic thinking Nine would love Tails and discussing Green Hill was prominent when talking to Nine before getting to Ghost Hill too. Dude was completely set on getting home and he wasnât subtle about it.
To be fair again, Nine hasnât been in enough good relationships to know who to trust. Then finds someone he thinks he can trust. Then gets treated like a reflection of someone else instead of a different person entirely. This goes to show I actually donât hate the idea of the miscommunication. I only feel the show doesnât give them enough time to breathe and only focuses on rushing the plot. Therefore having contradictions and forced conflicts.
Season 3
Nineâs first statement in this season is, âThis couldâve been everything he ever wanted.â I wish Sonic had a moment to explain why creating a new world is a nice but bad idea. That way Nine could get a better understanding of how close Sonic is to his home and friends. Giving it a sense of importance. He could choose to stay selfish or to be reasonable. Nine tries to capture Sonic in order to get his shard energy throughout S3. In the next scene Shadow says, âSo, it was all about power?â (Shadow is the MVP of this entire show) Then Sonic defends Nine for the millionth time.
Sonic: âNo, thatâs notâŚâ Nine: âExactly!â Wonderful.
Moving on. Sonic tries to reason with Nine again. Nine: âYou were only using me to get what you wanted.â Sonic: âThatâs not true.â The hedgehog doesnât elaborate before or after this conversation. I love how the two barely have a coherent conversation. Itâs honestly my favorite thing in the world.
-Sonic tells Shadow if reasoning with Nine doesnât work, heâll be âtheirs .â Probably implying theyâll have to hurt or kill Nine if necessary. Then Sonic never follows through with it and doesnât actually fight Nine. Sonic only uses his shield powers or tries to convince others not to hurt the fox.
After that Nine tries to attack both hedgehogs with a robot copy of Sonic and states, âThis time, youâre on your own.â Shadow: âHeâs not on his ownâ Nine: âWeâre all on our own.â Describing his perception on loyalty is a detail I actually like.
Later in the season Nine tries to disrupt the bystanders worlds to get Sonic, so they disrupt their agreement. Nine attempts to kill them again and wonders why they wanted to protect Sonic. Almost as if Sonic has been helping them since the fox met him or something.
After constant fighting and begging on Sonicâs part, he tells Nine to, âLOOK OUTSIDE!â And thatâs when Nine at last sees the shatterverse breaking and realizes what heâs done. All of this mess lasted 7 episodes by the way. The big fight took up 6 of them. Nine knew beforehand the shatterverse was ending and it didnât phase him as long as his world was safe. Now he suddenly he feels guilty?
Sonic apologizes because he didnât listen to what Nine wanted. Or appreciate what he was trying to do. This is Sonicâs words not mine. Nine doesnât apologize for trying to kill everyone, but to Sonic instead. Sonic asked everyone to leave Nine alone. And asked Nine to not cause anymore trouble. Knucks: âHow can we trust him?â Nine: âYou can trust me.â Outstanding dialogue. Plot needs to occur, so weâll skip the part where Nine and everyone else gains trust in a none forced way. Great.
Nine finally helps Sonic even if those problems couldâve been avoided a few episodes earlier and say their goodbyes. The End.
I hate how Sonic had to apologize to Nine about wanting to go home. Itâs absolutely unfair. Then Nine doesnât apologize to everyone else for the havoc heâs caused. What I believe Sonic shouldâve apologized for was treating Nine like Tails, but it never gets brought up. But my biggest issue is the only way Sonic called out Nine on his actions was by saying, âThis isnât you!â âDonât do this!â âI care about all of this. You, the shatterverse, and everyone inside of it. I know you do too.â The last bit being a huge lie.
I donât make these kind of comparisons often, but Game!Sonic would have everything nipped in the bud. Iâd assume by telling Nine, âWhat youâre doing is wrong. This is why itâs wrong. If you donât quit, Iâll do everything in my power to make you quit.â Heâd understand Nine needed to be stoped and act accordingly. Iâd assume everyone would have to make him surrender and heâd be forced to fix everything. No, it doesnât reform him, but I wouldnât have minded if he didnât get reformed because sometimes you canât change people. This might not have been the perfect solution, but I tried. Yes, Nine is a child who was treated terribly, but it shouldnât excuse his actions.
Whatâs hilarious is during his last talk with Sonic, he unreasonably guilts the hedgehog and called him selfish. Saying Sonic didnât save everyone because he actually cared about them. But because Sonic feels guilty about breaking everything from the start. Except Sonic actually admits to messing up which was shown in the third episode of Prime. And took the time to right his wrongs. Itâs the most hypocritical and short sided statement in the entire show. And if that wasnât enough, Nine gets upset when everyone came to attack him. It admittedly was a dumb idea, but Nine made himself the enemy. He didnât give the gang a reason to trust him before or after his deal with Sonic. Yes, including the end of the show. It made no sense.
Why Nineâs Reformation Was Rushed
First of all, Iâm not saying I donât like Nine because of his negative traits. Thatâs the main reason he exists. Heâs a antagonistic or Iâd even say evil version of Tails. Nine is suppose to be distant, selfish, and such. I simply donât believe after all heâs done and how his character was established that he suddenly changed into a good guy.
Nineâs focus was on his own pain while he ignored everyone elseâs. Including the one person who saved his life on multiple occasions and who (even if itâs wrong) still tried to stick up for him. Giving off the, âI suffered so everyone else should suffer,â mentality. Then blames Sonic by saying he, âPut him into this position.â As if Nine didnât already make terrible choices before going evil. Sure, the shards couldâve been corrupting him, but itâs never explored and can only be assumed. Which are too different things.
-Also other characters like Thorn and Dread made bad decisions before they had the shards. So, thereâs zero proof regarding that theory.
These are obvious toxic/red flag behavior and it never gets properly called out. Things are only fixed because the plot demanded it. Not because there was a natural progression. The only thing that progressed was Nineâs uncaring attitude until it magically fixed itselfâŚat the last minute. And I hate that for him because he deserved better. Sonic deserved better. All of the Sonic Prime characters deserved better. But they all fell into the pit of unsatisfying conclusions.
Side Note: What also bothers me is how Sonic is almost the only character Nine interacts with. No wonder he doesnât care about anyone else. Nine barely talks to anyone. Like Shadow, the blue blur is the main center of Nineâs attention. At least most of the other characters donât have the same problem, but itâs still ridiculous.
How The Show Is Flawed In General
I have more glaring issues with this show. Sonic Primeâs plot almost never stops to breathe. The repetition is unreal. None of the characters (especially the OGs) get enough attention. Some things are both over and under explained simultaneously. Thereâs reused animations.
Reused conversations and dialogue are especially prevalent. âThis isnât you, Nine!â âItâs over, Nine.â âGotta go fast!â âGame over.â âWeâre gonna end/fix this together.â âWeâre friends.â âMe Beauty.â âWe have to take the fight to them.â âYouâre even dumber then you look.â
This isnât half of the repeated lines unfortunately. Some of them arenât only said by Sonic either. Itâs almost as if they ran out of dialogue. I am only scratching the surface of problems, but I wonât go any further. At this point âthe showâs writingâ is the main issue of Nineâs arc. Itâs also why other parts of Prime feels rushed.
Conclusion
Yeah, I have a love hate relationship with this show. Itâs seriously hard to watch sometimes. I know this has been a bummer, but hereâs what Sonic Prime does right. I adore Sonic Prime in terms of how it looks and sounds. With the outstanding animation, voice acting, music, editing, and sound design. Iâll even say itâs one of the best looking 3D animated kids TV shows Iâve seen. Thereâs so much attention to detail and quality of the character facial expressions and movements. Furthermore, when the lighting is really good, it looks near movie levels of quality. Not to mention great writing still exists. All in all, Sonic Prime may not be the best written Sonic show, but it does have the most polished animation. Even with its plethora of flaws and lost potential, Iâm glad Prime exists to prove 3D TV shows can look fantastic when given enough care.
