struggling to like anything I sketch tonight, so instead of AF stuff I returned to an old sketch of Cloudy's brother to finish designing him! now if only I could remember what the fuck I wanna name him
#my art#my ocs#digital art#character design#procreate#it feels weird to not tag an oc bc he has no name augh. im gonna tag his sister then#since shes mentioned and that way i can find this again to retag it if it takes me longer than a couple days to name him#oc: storm clouds#nekomata#cloudy wasnt intended to have a story of her own but.....#i WILL say ive been. slowly rotating the idea of an actual story for her#and thats why her brother is being created & designed#but actual details for what that story may end up being will remain in my original story discord#until i decide if im actually committing to this story happening or not ALDJFJDKSKF#me stumbling into my discord covered in blood: chat what if i added Another story to my docket#the ~16 or so already planned arent enough. i cant stop having fun ideas man#even if i never finish them i just! like indulging in them!#theyre my special little treats in my brain#oc: fire eater

favorite fics of 2024/basically just batfam fic rec list
It's that time of year guys, here is my favorite fics of 2024 in no specific order (aka my master batman fic rec list bc that's all i read this year with some spider-man thrown in there lmao). most of these have been in my previous rec lists, but this is just like one big frankenstein’s monster of a fic rec with all of them in one place <3
starting off strong, anything @bluelotuswrites's hands have touched is pure gold. Red is the Color of Sinners placed post UTRH where after being hit by bruce's batarang and now mute, jason decides to leave gotham and go to hell’s kitchen for a fresh start, but he keeps running into daredevil both in and out of costume. this is possibly the best jason of all time i rotate him in my mind like a microwave all day
The Hellblazer's Apprentice is an all blades jason fic where instead of continuing his lost days world tour, he meets john constentine and decides to learn magic to piss of bruce. blue added some lore to jason’s character in this that to this day makes my brain vibrate with excitement and the dynamic between john and jason is just ?? so good. both of these fics haunt me, they follow me wherever i go, i love them. read everything she's written, trust me
going with the theme of my favorite authors i read this year, @cdelphiki wrote my favorite read of the year and possibly all time Life Happens a fic that hit me like a sucker punch where tim and damian are both sent to a different dimension where everyone they know are comic book characters. with no other choice, they have to start a new life in this world while they wait for rescue. words just dont do it justice, please please read this fic. it’s the most beautiful story on growing and life
their other fic Jason and the Three Terrors crosses my mind at least once a day if not three times. jason is still with the league when talia charges him with getting damian, his cousin mara, and his secret sister athanasia to bruce safely from ra's. the rest of the fic is jason going from "i cant wait to get rid of these kids" to "these are my kids, i need to provide for them and keep them safe and i would die for them" 100/10 jason's character development is some of my favorite in any fic.
The Time Before is another of my favorites where jason is sent back in time to when he was 9 and goes to bruce for help and realizes maybe his memories of bruce maybe aren't all accurate. just read everything cdelphiki has ever written, trust me <3
Split by @wolfsbanesparks i have never been hooked on a character i previously did not know much about faster than when i read this fic. Billy and shazam are forcefully separated into separate bodies by black adam and then they have to try to keep billy's identity secret somehow while working with the justice league to fix them. the end of this fic had me sending paragraphs and 5 minute voice notes to my friends, trying to explain why i was so absolutely distraught and obsessed.
also by wolfsbanesparks, From the Shadows is basically everything you could ever want from a billy batson joins the batfam fic. it's got plot, it's got identity shenanigans, it's got badass magical billy, what more could you possibly need! seriously idk what is up with everything wolfbanesparks writes, but the endings are always so fucking good, 100/10.
Something in the Static by @bonerot19 is one of my favorite jason series ever, i go back to it constantly and think about it all the time. this is a series where jason's mom doesn't die and his dad isn't in prison, instead he's 17 working nights at a convenience store when everything changes and suddenly batman won't leave him alone. this is my favorite jason & steph best friends fic ever and the way this fic is paced scratches an itch in my brain, the flow of the story is just perfect
Buy Back the Secrets by @vinelark is the only ship fic on here and it deserves a place of honor. every time i get an email that it's updated an angel gets it's wings and my friends all get texts in all caps. Timkon fic where kon still doesn’t know tim’s civilian identity, but tim keeps calling for superboy when he's in trouble which leads to kon meeting him as a civilian. the identity shenanigans are just so top tier, its a 5 + 1 fic so every chapter is just just a new world of fun tropes. the chapter with tim's fake uncle and jason is actually probably my favorite chapter of a fic ever its so dear to me. as far as i'm concerned, this fic is the only timkon ever <3
Honoring Promises by LananiA3O is the shortest fic on this list and is the most important jason & dick post UTRH fics i've ever read. this fic both scratched an itch and created an itch because i need 100 more chapters and for it to never end. set post UTRH when dick starts to rethink his opinion on a note jason left him and realizes it was jason reaching out and decides to find him and fix things. this goes up there with RITCOS in the post UTRH fics where jason decides to just fuck off and do his own thing, i love them
Adopting a New Plan by A_Silly_Gander is yet another fic where jason winds up with an adoption problem when he first comes back to gotham. however, my favorite part of this whole fic is how the author writes jason making mistakes and being flawed and how those mistakes affect him. absolutely 10/10 character development and jason rejoining the batfam + damian and jaosn meeting in the LOA tag is just a mixture of all my favorite things, i love this fic so much
A Collision of Masks by MOVAZ is my favorite dick grayson fic ever, its set in a young justice AU where batman never joined the JL and YJ never met dick, so when the YJ team is sent to investigate a new vigilante, nightwing, identity shenanigans ensue. this is seriously such a fun fic, i loved all the crossover between dick's many identities and the YJ team
Cards on the Table by @wesslan is just!!! so fun oh my god. the chapter titles are to this day my favorite things ever they enhance the experience. it’s about tim being a scam fortune teller who knows a lot more than he should about the upper class due to his nighttime stalking. he winds up meeting the batfam and giving some scarily accurate advice which leads to him being tied up in their business and lots of lying <3 it’s such a fun fic and i just love the vibes 100/10
Hand in Unloveable Hand (a chokehold) by @a-large-orange-cat is by far my favorite fucked up tim fic! while tim’s out taking pictures of batman and robin as a kid he gets kidnapped by black mask and raised to take over his crime empire. cue 50k of manipulation and angst, the ending is so satisfying and the sequel with jason always makes me :’) very good, this tim lives in my mind in a little house he and jason built
Dark Matter by @mysterycyclone because would it be a fic rec without the loml? i love this fic so much oh my god, it sent me back on my spiderman obsessed bullshit which in turn led me back down my marvel bs. post infinity war peter is dusted and wakes up in the DC universe with the ghosts of the dusted avengers following him. i love this fic so much, nothing compares to this peter in my mind. the dynamic between him and the batfam + the identity angst is just so well done
keeping up with the peter theme, The Teenage Vigilante's Guide to Saving New York (And Making Friends Along the Way) by candlesneedflame is such a good team red/mentor matt fic oh my god. where peter goes against tony’s wishes and starts hanging out with daredevil and his friends and maybe starts getting mentored by new york’s vigilantes. 10/10 i love peter interacting with the other vigilantes and also matt mentoring him
anyways, that’s all folks! 2024 was the year for the DC and marvel fics clearly and hopefully 2025 will be the year of me binding all of these finally and having them sitting pretty on my shelf <3
#these are my fav little guys and i think about them all constantly#i want them all in my bloodstream#batfam#fic recs#batman fic rec#fic rec#jason todd fic rec#batfam fic rec#dc fic rec#jason todd#dick grayson#tim drake#damian wayne#bruce wayne#batman#fanfiction recommendation#batman fanfiction#fanfiction rec list#fanfiction#fanfic rec#marvel fic rec#marvel#peter parker#peter parker fic rec#spiderman

If you do still happen to have any Clark/ Bruce bodyswap ideas rotating in your head. This is a sign to reveal them to the masses (read: I fsbking. Love them . And would be incredibly happy to hear any others you have)
Like for instance what if they have to go off and superhero with others? (Not including their families I mean). Say if there's suddenly the yearly alien invasion that the JL needs to get together to beat. Would they be able to fight convincingly as each other or just kinda fumble given that they've not had that much time to develop the necessary skillset for this body? Would they be able to handle interacting with the JL as their counterpart, or would Batman suddenly be an optimistic guy giving reassurance and pep talks to the team while Superman either broods in a corner or starts spouting intricate plans with eighty contingencies? And what if one of them happens to in some way come into contact with Diana's lassoo- will they be able to keep the ruse intact or is the game immediately up?
(I'm also wagering that a good few members of the JL have taken some sort of photos/ videos of the things they do for blackmail purposes)
So uh. As you may be able to tell I very much enjoyed this concept. There are worms wriggling about in my brain and they all whisper Clark and Bruce's names
Wait that opens up an entirely new facet of this scenario, and I love it, thank you anon
I think in the body swap scenario, and this isn't me biased towards batman, i love both him and clark equally, but Bruce would be able to cruise by with his new superpowers, easily. Clark would be the one who would be struggling a little.
Bruce has extensive files all over them, he's human, he's observant, he knows how Clark operates. And he's pretty adaptable too, so he'd be terrifying.
He'd obviously have to figure out minor kinks on how to better control his powers, but he's talked and trained with clark long enough to do how to do that. Bruce never had any powers, that was never his usp, and now that he does, he's like the most overpowered character in the verse. He'd absolutely I think, if no one in the league knows about it, imitate Clark's cheery attitude, Bruce would just view it as putting on another mask like he does for Brucie Wayne. Martian manhunter knows but he doesn't tell anyone, because he's Bruce's best friend and he supports his friend
Now, that's not to say obviously, that clark would be weak or that everything heroic about him is his powers, but now he's in a more fragile body, obviously he's super intelligent and would be able to adapt real fast too. But the key difference is that while Bruce is simply gaining something, Clark is the one losing his powers. He'd also, absolutely, enjoy imitating Bruce, he's a journalist after all, he knows how to pretend.
I think they're obsessed(affectionate) enough with each other that they'd be able to emulate each other pretty well! Plus, clark now gets the added benefit of a gaggle of robins behind him and Bruce now has to walk alone, so in that way, the gain loss is the opposite
I don't really know enough about like the lasso to really say anything about that but does it like excuse loopholes? Because if it does then technically, they are clark and bruce!
Omggg this post would be too long if I talked about the reactions of the JL too, I think I'll make another post about those scenarios, it'd be so funny
There's this one panel I remember in which clark is insulting Gotham and Bruce is insulting metropolis, that will definitely, definitely be their reactions when they have to spend extended amounts of time there
I get those brain worms from time to time too, they're eating up my brain now, I think I've been convinced to make like atleast two more posts about this
Thank you for the ask!
#thank u so much I'll be rotating these ideas in my head just like you#bruce wayne#batman#clark kent#superman#superbat#dc#batfam#superfam#do bruce and clark not have a separate ship name from their hero counterparts#blark#cluce#yes#justice league#dc comics#body swap au#dems asks

It sucks that I have nowhere near enough time or energy to make a fangame because I have such a good idea for a direct sequel to the Johto games and I can't stop rotating it in my brain. Anyway I just spent the last 8 hours typing up the entire plot for no particular reason
Pokemon Blaze Gold and Storm Silver
-Box mascots are Entei and Raikou, but new formes with Ho-Oh/Lugia's wings respectively plus added motifs from each Pokemon, Fire/Flying and Electric/Flying
-Regional Pokedex has all Kanto/Johto Pokemon minus the Kanto starters available, plus every new evolution to a Kanto/Johto Pokemon up to Gen 4
-Start in Camellia Town, a new town south of Route 29, loosely based on Toyohashi
-Rival 1 is your neighbour, Maya, who has major chuuni vibes, tells you Prof Elm has returned from a trip and that you should go ask him for a Pokemon, declares herself the best trainer ever despite having no Pokemon
-Start traveling to New Bark Town but get interrupted by Professor Elm upon entering the grass
-He reluctantly agrees to take you to his lab on Maya's insistence
-At his lab you meet his kid who is also his assistant, Rival 2, who is the opposite gender version of the player character. Following old traditions I'm gonna say the male character default name is Blaze and the female character default name is Storm. I'm gonna refer to the rival as Blaze going forward but it depends on your PC.
-Elm says he was going to offer one of the three to Blaze, but we can have the other two.
-Blaze gets nervous and indecisive and asks us to pick first, Maya says it doesn't matter which one they get because she will win no matter what. Maya picks the starter that's super effective against yours, Blaze picks the one it's weak to. Maya immediately challenges you to a battle.
-After you win, Maya declares that this is jist a roadblock and that she's going to take on the gym challenge and become champion. Elm gets wistful remembering the PC from the original games, and then decides to ask you to retrieve a package from another professor in Cherrygrove City.
-Route 46 now has wild Pikachu, plus a new part of Dark Cave featuring all Pokemon from the Violet City side as the original location will not be accessible until much later. Phanpy and Teddiursa are also available in their respective Crystal version locations (I have no idea why HGSS removed this inprovement). Paras is also now available on Route 30. These changes have been added so that you are not completely fucked if you didn't pick Chikorita.
-Cherrygrove City is now much larger, featuring a port, and a new Pokemon Gym. You go to the house Elm indicated but Blaze comes out and says the professor is out, and that they need to go look for him.
-On Route 30, you see Professor Oak standing in front of a cliff face dividing the route in half. He tells you that 6 years ago, a great cave suddenly sprung from the ground, causing great devastation. Nobody knows how, and it should have been impossible. He then tells you to come with him to get the parcels Elm asked for.
-Upon returning and being handed the parcels, Blaze asks you to battle him. When you win, he gets nervous and asks you what you think it takes to be a good trainer, before leaving.
-When you all return to Professor Elm, he hands you and Blaze the newest Pokedex which was in the package from Oak. He asks you to fill out the dex. After Blaze leaves to go catch Pokemon, he suggests you could try the gym challenge like Maya is.
-You run into your mother in front of the entrance to Camellia Town. After explaining the situation, she gives you the Poketch and encourages you.
-When you get to Cherrygrove Gym, Maya comes out and declares she beat the gym leader easily (though she is clearly worn out), and says she's going to get on a ferry to go take on Cianwood Gym.
-Inside, the Gym Leader, Akua, is a cheerful, portly middle-aged lady wearing a blue floral patterned sundress. Her team is a Lv12 Chinchou and a Lv14 Corsola. Upon winning, she grants you the Shore Badge.
-Upon leaving, a boat has returned to the port. You can interact with it and travel to Cianwood City. You arrive at the new Cianwood Port inside Cliff Edge Gate. However, Chuck is blocking the entrance to Cianwood City proper. He asks you to go after his son, Hurley, who ran to the Safari Zone saying something about Team Rocket - which is strange, since Team Rocket disappeared 10 years ago.
-The same Pokemon as usual are available on Routes 47/48, but only their first stages, and levelled down. Miltank has been replaced with Murkrow to make Dark-types accessible earlier in game.
-You see Hurley in front of the Safari Zone. He is a young boy with a buzzcut, tatami pants, and a sarashi chest wrap. He is surrounded by a group of Team Rocket grunts. Team Rocket are trying to kidnap all of the Pokemon out of the Safari Zone. Hurley is trying to take on all the Rocket Grunts himself. Blaze arrives and you take on two of the grunts in a double battle.
-After winning, the entrance to the Safari Zone is wrecked, so theycare trmporarily closed. Hurley thanks you for your help, and gives you the field move Poketch app for Headbutt. He tells you some of the apps need gym badges, but not this one, before announcing that he is the new Cianwood gym leader now that his dad has retired.
-You return to Cianwood City, which is now accessible, along with its gym. Hurley has a Lv18 Tyrogue and a Lv20 Heracross. Upon winning, he grants you the Storm Badge, which allows you to use the Fly app (which you will need to acquire later). The ferry is now ready to depart for Olivine City.
-At Olivine, when you pass in front of the Olivine Gym, Maya is there. They tell you they came to fight Jasmine, but she's gone travelling to Sinnoh and the gym is closed. Maya challenges you to a battle. She has a Lv18 Snubbull, a Lv19 Shellder/Bellsprout/Growlithe (whichever is weak to your starter), and a Lv22 Bayleef/Quilava/Croconaw.
-At Ecruteak City, the Gym is locked, and Morty is in the Burnt Tower. When you enter it, you run into Colress as he is leaving the building. He talks about the Legendary Beasts that were believed to have existed in this building. When you go up and speak to Morty, he says he had been having a conversation with Colress about the legends surrounding the towers. He then heads back to his Gym. Houndour is now catchable in Burnt Tower.
-The Kimono Girls can be battled as before for the Surf app, however there are now 7 of them, with the addition of Leafeon and Glaceon.
-Morty has a Lv24 Gastly, a Lv25 Misdreavus, and a Lv27 Gengar. Upon defeating him, he grants you the Fog Badge, allowing you to use the Surf app.
-The path south of Ecrutreak is blocked by a Sudowoodo, forcing you east. As you enter Route 42, Blaze appears. He says he thinks he's gotten stronger and wants to test himself against you. His team is a Lv25 Pikachu, a Lv20 Happiny, a Lv24 Oddish/Vulpix/Staryu (whichever is super effective against your starter), and a Lv27 Bayleef/Quilava/Croconaw. After you win, he says Professor Elm said to give you this, and installs the Rock Smash app on your phone.
-Upon arriving to Mahogany Town, you see that it has been levelled by the rising caves. The Gym and Pokemon Center are in disrepair, and the path to Route 44 is obstructed by a new cliff face. If you enter the one accessible house, the hermit inside will tell you everyone left when the disaster happened, and they moved to Lycoris or Ecruteak cities, and that the Gym Leader Pryce disappeared when the cave formed and hasn't been since since.
-At the Lake of Rage, two Team Rocket grunts are standing by the water. When they see you, they challenge you to a battle. After defeating them, more arrive, but they are scared off by the arrival of Silver. Silver thanks you for defeating the grunts, and introduces himself. He says he's had some experiences with Team Rocket before, and that it's troubling to see them around here. He then gives you a Squirtbottle to get past the Sudowoodo.
At this point, you can take on the next three Gym Leaders in any order you want. However, there is a firm level curve, and if you challenge the 6th one next you're likely to get your ass kicked - you are, however, free to do so. This will be following the recommended order.
-After removing the Sudowoodo, the path to Violet City and the Ruins of Alph is blocked by a risen cave, forcing you towards Goldenrod City. This area is mostly unchanged, but more houses have been made accessible, including one with a conspicuously blocked off basement. Additionally, if you enter the basement of the Pokemart, they tell you you're not allowed down there and send you back into the elevator. The radio tower has modernized, and now runs streaming content and podcasts. You can also still obtain an Eevee from Bill at his home.
-At Goldenrod Gym, Whitney has a Lv29 Clefairy, a Lv31 Furret, and a Lv33 Miltank. Upon defeating her, she grants you the Plain Badge, allowing you to use the Strength app. She has a line about how she's not gonna cry over losing any more, and tells you there's a reward at National Park for the Strength app if you win the Bug-Catching Contest (if you haven't already won it).
-The Bug Catching contest can now be played at any time, and allows you to catch as many as you like, with your final score being a point total so as to make it way easier to win. You also get to choose which Pokemon you keep at the end so you don't have to keep a bunch of fodder mons.
-When passing the Daycare, you see Maya outside. She brags about having 5 gym badges and challenges you again. She has a Lv27 Snubbull, two of Lv28 Weepinbell/Shellder/Growlithe (excluding whichever matches their starter's type), and a Lv32 Bayleef/Quilava/Croconaw. When defeated, she throws a mild tantrum about how she has more gym badges and should be stronger than you, but then corrects herself and offers you one of two eggs she was given by the daycare. Yours contains a Togepi.
-In Ilex Forest, at the Celebi shrine, you encounter a strange man with a tattered black cloak shrouding their body, extremely long white hair, and a white mask covering their entire face, although you cannot see the front of it from your position. He is talking to the shrine. "Celebi... how long has it been? To this day, I still don't understand why...". He sees you, at which point he excuses himself and leaves.
-At Azalea Gym, Bugsy, now an adult, has a Lv35 Ledian, Lv35 Ariados, and a Lv36 Scizor. Upon winning, he grants you the Hive Badge, allowing you to use the Cut app.
-As soon as you leave the gym, you hear a commotion coming from nearby. Bugsy comes out of the gym, and says that sounded like the Cut master, and that it was coming from Slowpoke Well. He heads over to see what's going on. In the Well, you see the Cut master trying to corner a Team Rocket grunt, but the grunt defeats him. You step up and battle the grunt, who then tries to escape.
-When you leave the well, the grunt is being cornered by Kurt, who says he'll never let Team Rocket mess with this well again. The grunt runs away towards Union Cave. When you get to the cave's entrance, he is nowhere to be seen, and the cave's entrance is boarded up. Kurt, Bugsy, and the Cut master all arrive and tell you he must have gone into the cave, but that we shouldn't follow him - the cave was unstable after the rest of the cave system rose from the ground, and it may still be dangerous. Kurt introduces himself and tells you about Azalea Town's history with Team Rocket, and tells you about his apricorn ball service. The Cut master thanks you by giving you the Cut app.
-Returning to the Lake of Rage, the northeast has a new path, but it's obstructed by two rocket grunts. Travelling west, though, through the maze of trees, there is now a new route, Route 49. It is a winding route, covered in trees and snow. Here, you can catch Fearow, Furret, Noctowl, Murkrow, Misdreavus, Smeargle, Sneasel, Houndour, and Delibird.
-To the west of Route 49, and north of Mt. Mortar, is Lycoris City (loosely based on Fukui). It is a snow-covered city with architecture similar to Ecruteak, with numerous beds of Spider Lillies. It is divided into two halves, with the top half being on a high raised wooden platform.
-In the north is Lycoris Shrine. It is a two-storey building in the center of the raised platform, filled with trainers and wild pokemon. Here, you can find Growlithe/Vulpix, Golbat, Gastly, Haunter, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Natu, Murkrow, Sneasel, and Houndour.
-When you get to the far end of the top floor, you encounter Blaze. He tells you he came all this way looking for as many Pokemon as possible, and wants to show you. His team is a Lv37 Pikachu, Lv36 Chansey, two of Lv37 Gloom/Ninetales/Starmie (minus whichever is the same type as their starter), and Lv38 Meganium/Typhlosion/Feraligatr.
-Karen comes over, who tells you she used to be the gym leader here a long time ago. She says she was impressed by your battle and likes the look in your eye and expects she'll be seeing you again soon, before giving you the Fly app.
-At Lycoris Gym, the Leader is Shin, a tall person with spiky white hair, a sleeveless black turtleneck, mesh sleeves, long and sharp black nails, and baggy black jeans. Their team is a Lv37 Sneasel, Lv38 Umbreon, Lv37 Murkrow, and Lv40 Weavile. Upon winning, they grant you the Umbral Badge, which allows you to use the Whirlpool app.
-Once you have 6 badges (and have handled the Slowpoke Well incident), Silver will call you asking you if you can come to Mahogany Town. When you arrive, he is in front of the old Rocket hideout. He thanks you for coming, when suddenly Maya arrives, bragging about having 6 badges, before being shocked that you've caught up to them. They proclaim that they will be the strongest, and need to battle you to prove it. Silver interrupts saying we have more important things to worry about, and telling Maya that it's a mistake to view everything in terms of Weak and Strong.
-Silver then breaks down the door to the hideout with his Crobat, and inside we see the place full of Team Rocket members, who run down into the base. Silver comments that he thought they'd be smarter than hiding here again, and tells the two of you to follow him into the base.
-In the boss's office of the base, you encounter Proton, Petrel, Ariana, and Colress. Silver says he's shocked to see the three of them back at it, but asks who the new guy is. Colress introduces himself and says Team Rocket are his new benefactors. Petrel tells Silver that Colress is the brains behind their big new scheme, before Ariana tells him to be quiet. You battle Proton, while Maya battles Petrel and Silver battles Ariana. Proton has a Lv38 Golbat and a Lv39 Weezing.
-Upon winning, Proton says it doesn't matter, and they already got everything ready here. Petrel says they learned one thing from last time, and Colress flips a switch turning off all the lights. When they come back on, they have all vanished. Silver expresses disappointment that they couldn't catch them, and tells the two of you that he once battled Team Rocket here with two of his good friends. He then wonders what they're planning next before he takes his leave.
-Maya says it was always her dream to become the strongest, but that seeing the way Silver battled was something she never imagined. She trails off before leaving.
-The rocket grunts at the lake have now left, allowing you to take a new path heading down into Route 44, which is much the same as it always was besides the entrance to Mahogany Town being obscured.
-You travel through Ice Path into Blackthorn City, and on arriving at the front of the Blackthorn Gym, Maya shows up. She tells you that she's not sure if she really is the strongest, and that since you two are even she wants to battle you before either of you face the gym. She says to meet her in the Dragon's Den behind the gym, and she'll be waiting.
-In the shrine in Dragon's Den, you face off against Maya. She has a Lv42 Granbull, a Lv40 Rhydon, two of Lv42 Victreebel/Arcanine/Cloyster, and a Lv44 Meganium/Typhlosion/Feraligatr.
-Upon defeating her, she wonders if maybe she isn't the strongest after all. Before she can go on, Lance appears, and tells her that she's plenty strong, but strong isn't enough. Clair also arrives, and says they heard us talking outside their gym and watched our battle. Clair announces that she is the leader of Blackthorn gym, before Lance corrects her and says that they are the leaders of Blackthorn gym, and that they now battle side by side, and that they're excited to face us.
-In Blackthorn gym, you face off against Lance and Clair in a double battle. Lance has a Lv43 Gyarados and a Lv45 Dragonite, and Clair has a Lv42 Dragonair and a Lv44 Kingdra. Upon winning, the two of them bicker a bit, before giving you the Rising Badge, allowing use of the Waterfall app.
-When you exit the gym, you get a call from Professor Oak telling you there's an emergency at the radio tower and he needs our help. Immediately afterwards, Silver calls, and tells you Team Rocket are attacking Goldenrod City, and wonders to himself if they're really just trying to same plan all over again.
-When arriving to Goldenrod, the city is swarming with Rocket Grunts. The radio towers has waves of them in front of it, blocking the entrance. Silver is fighting them all off. Silver tells you he'll take care of this, and to go look for a cardkey in the underground - he know show they operate, and that we'll need it to get to the top of the tower. We go to look for it, however the Pokemart and the Underground are both blocked by Rocket grunts. Blaze and Maya are both here, battling rocket grunts at each of the entrances.
-Heading into the house that had the suspicious basement passage from earlier, you are immediately confronted with a rocket grunt, who accidentally gives away that this is the new secret entrance to the underground system. You then battle your way through the underground, where you eventually encounter Petrel, who has the keycard. He has two Lv40 Koffings and a Lv42 Weezing. Upon defeat, he runs away, dropping the keycard.
-You can then leave via any of the three exits, where you can see Blaze and Maya have defeated their respective batches of grunts. You head into the radio tower, now accessible, and give Silver the keycard. He heads upstairs. You encounter Proton and Ariana, but before they can stop you, Maya arrives. Silver says to fight them while he heads upstairs and deals with their leader. You and Maya enter a double battle. Proton has a Lv40 Golbat, a Lv39 Qwilfish, and a Lv42 Weezing. Ariana has a Lv40 Arbok, a Lv41 Vileplume, and a Lv42 Honchkrow.
-Upon defeating them and heading upstairs, you see that Silver has firmly defeated Archer. However, Archer makes a break for it, running outside of the building. Outside, you see Blaze, who tells you they saw Archer run towards Ilex Forest.
-In Ilex Forest, you encounter Archer at the shrine, where you challenge him. He has a Lv40 Houndour, a Lv43 Weezing, a Lv42 Ariados, and a Lv45 Houndoom.
-Upon defeating him, Silver, Maya, and Blaze arrive. Silver tells him to give up, but Archer tells him that this was a trick to buy time while the broadcast was uploading. You then get an alert on your Poketch showing you the radio tower has a live stream - you cut to the video, and you see a man shrouded in a tattered black cloak, with long white hair, and a white mask covering his face... with the Team Rocket emblem over the mask. It's the man you saw here, in Ilex Forest. He begins a speech, telling everyone that he believed that Team Rocket was done when Giovanni left - however, the broadcast 10 years ago inspired them to take up his mantle. He calls himself Rocket Mask, and declares that he is the new boss of Team Rocket. He informs them that they have plans in motion that will enable them to achieve total domination, and invites anyone who abandoned their cause to return to them to fulfil their destiny. He tells them that the Mahogany Town base is compromised, but that they should know where to go. The stream ends.
-Archer says he's completed his work, and it doesn't matter if you take him in. He tries to eacape anyway, but suddenly... Looker turns up. He apologizes to Silver for taking so long to arrive, and captures Archer. They all briefly talk about who the strange man in the mask could be. Archer refuses to tell them anything, and is hauled away by Looker. Silver thanks you for your help, and gives you the Flash app for your help. He tells you to head to Violet City through the Dark Cave.
-As everyone leaves, you begin to walk away, but suddenly hear something. Celebi floats down in front of you, before hovering over their shrine. The space in front of you begind to warp, and you are shown a vision of Rocket Mask at the shrine, with the four Rocket Execs beside him. He tells them that this shrine belongs to Celebi, and that it is thanks to them that they can begin their glorious return. Celebi then disappears, returning everything to normal.
-You fly back to Blackthorn City, and travel through the Dark Cave to Violet City. Falkner is currently out, at the Sprout Tower. You battle your way through Sprout Tower, and once you meet Falkner at the top, he returns to his gym.
-At Violet City Gym, you face Falkner, who has a Lv45 Noctowl, a Lv44 Fearow, a Lv46 Dodrio, a Lv47 Togetic, and a Lv48 Pigeot. Upon defeating him, you are granted the Zephyr Badge, allowing use of the Rock Climb app.
-Upon leaving, Professor Elm calls you and asks if you can come back to his lab. When you get there, he gives you the Waterfall app, and upon finding out you have all 8 badges, suggests you go to the Pokemon League. Before you leave, Blaze arrives, and says they've been watching us, watching Maya, and that they think they've learned from us and our bond with our Pokemon what a good trainer is. They challenge us to one last battle. Their team is a Lv48 Raichu, a Lv48 Blissey, a Lv47 Espeon, two of Lv48 Bellossom/Ninetales/Starmie, and a Lv50 Meganium/Typhlosion/Feraligatr. When you win, he thanks you, and declares that they're going to take on the gym challenge as well.
-You travel through the way to the Elite Four the same as in the original games. Just before entering to face the Elite Four, Maya stops you. She says she's been thinking about what Silver told her, and that maybe she had been wrong to focus on being the strongest. She asks you to battle her again to help her figure it out. Her team is a Lv50 Granbull, a Lv50 Rhyperior, a Lv49 Umbreon, two of Lv51 Victreebel/Arcanine/Cloyster, and a Lv52 Meganium/Typhlosion/Feraligatr. After you beat her, she thanks you, and says that she realizes that instead of trying to be the strongest, she should just try and be the best that she can be... which meand THEN she'll be the strongest! (never change, Maya).
-As you enter the Elite Four, the first member you face is Brock. He has a Lv50 Golem, a Lv51 Kabutops, a Lv51 Omastar, a Lv51 Onix, and a Lv52 Aerodactyl.
-The second member is Will. He has a Lv51 Hypno, a Lv52 Girafarig, a Lv52 Slowking, a Lv53 Exeggutor, and a Lv54 Xatu.
-The third member is Misty. She has a Lv53 Politoed, a Lv54 Cloyster, a Lv53 Azumarill, a Lv53 Vaporeon, and a Lv55 Starmie.
-The fourth member is Karen. She has a Lv54 Umbreon, a Lv55 Honchkrow, a Lv56 Weavile, a Lv56 Gengar, and a Lv58 Houndoom.
-As you head up the long staircase to face the champion, the ground suddenly begins to shake, and the lights momentarily go out. You continue to climb the stairs, but when you reach the door at the top, it won't open. As you head back down, a gang of Team Rocket grunts swarm in. They tell you that the building is surrounded, and they're going to keep the Elite Four incapacitated while they carry out their plan. They begin to back you into a corner, but suddenly, Celebi appears. The world around you begins to warp. Suddenly, the Team Rocket grunts have disappeared, and everything seems to be normal.
-You head into the Champion's room and see... Lance? But wasn't he a gym leader now? He seems just as confused as you are, since there wasn't anyone challenging the league. After you explain about Celebi, he tells you that he has heard the myth of a time travelling Pokemon, and that maybe you've been sent back in time. You leave the building with Lance.
-As he begins to wonder how to return you to your own time, he gets a call from Silver. Silver tells him that the Pokemon are going crazy near the Ruins of Alph, and that there are some strange signals being picked up on the Poketch. Lance takes you to Violet City, however as you head to the Ruins of Alph, a great quake begins. The ground begins rising in front of you. You hear a great cry, and you are seperated from Lance as the ground beneath your feet lifts, turning into a new cave. It's six years ago, and the disaster is occuring before your eyes.
-From the Ruins of Alph, you see something fly away. As the sunlight clears, you see Entei/Raikou (the opposite of the boxart legendary) soaring into the sky on wings, surrounded by Unown. Its emits a great glow, and its wings seem to burst into flames/lightning. It falls onto the new cliff face in front of you, now in its original form. As it stares us down, Celebi returns, warping us back to our own time, in Ilex Forest, before disappearing.
-We immediately get a call from Blaze, who is asking if we're okay and is confused that we're in Ilex Forest. They heard that Team Rocket is staging an assault on Indigo Plateau. Suddenly, the same signal starts coming through the Poketch that did six years ago. A broadcast comes on, and you can see Rocket Mask once again making an announcement. He states that six years ago, he failed. But this time, he will succeed. Celebi has shown him the way, and soon, Team Rocket will have the key to world domination.
-You head to the entrance to Union Cave, now unblocked. As soon as you enter, you see Suicune. It roars at you, before running into the cave. You travel through its underground passages, and make your way into the Ruins of Alph.
-The ruins now have a large pillar in the centre, which you seemingly have no way to access. As you head into the ruins, you see Suicune again, at a wall. Suddenly, Unown surround them, and a portion of the wall disappears, revealing a hidden passageway.
-As you get to the end of the passageway, and enter the pillar in the center of the ruins, and see Colress and Rocket Mask. Colress seems alarmed to see you. Rocket Mask asks how you got here, but remarks that it doesn't matter. The screen pans, and you can see Entei/Raikou (your box legendary), surrounded by two chains of Unown, spinning around them like a gyroscope.
-He explains that ever since a fateful encounter with Suicune, he had sought the power of the legendary beasts. 10 years ago, when Team Rocket made their broadcast, he was ashamed to have left them when Giovanni first disbanded the team. To find out that they had even been operating in his old secret hideout brought him great shame. After the news of their defeat broke, he went on a journey. In Ilex Forest, he was suddenly approached by Suicune, and feared Suicune was going to attack him. Suddenly, Celebi arrived, and teleported him back through time, showing him his glory days in Team Rocket as Giovanni's right-hand man. He decided then that this was a sign - that he needed to bring back Team Rocket, and that the Legendary Beasts were how he would do it.
Six years ago, he was approached by Colress, who had experimented with Pokemon before, and had heard of his interest in the beasts. He knew that they had a master who had created them, a legendary Pokemon named Ho-Oh. If they were created by Ho-Oh, they could use its power. By utilizing the power of the Unown, he believed he could combine their power - with a Rainbow Wing/Silver Wing. However, they only used one chain of Unown - they needed two. The beast they captured six years ago broke free, and unleashing their full power caused them to send that energy through the land, reshaping it. While they lost both the beast and the wing, they discovered that there was a second wing - that the Silver Wing was not actually from Ho-Oh, but from Lugia, a Pokemon whose power mirrored Lugia, and that they could use the Silver Wing instead/that they had the wrong wing, and that the Rainbow Wing was needed. Now they have obtained the second wing, and captured another beast.
After their failure six years ago, they felt tremendous shame. Not just for their failure, but for the damage they did. They even destroyed their own town. After that, they could never go back. They had to see this through to the end. They took up the mantle of Rocket Mask, and decided nothing would stop them from taming the beast - least of all, you.
-Rocket Mask removes their mask, revealing themselves to be none other than Pryce, the former leader of the Mahogany Town gym. While Colress finishes combining the beast's power with the wing, Pryce challenges you. He has a Lv55 Weavile, a Lv57 Dewgong, a Lv56 Piloswine, a Lv57 Cloyster, and a Lv59 Mamoswine.
-Upon defeating him, he says it no longer matters - the beast is complete. The Unown chains spin faster, and emit a great glow. The ground begins to shake, and then... suddenly, it ends. The Unown are floating freely, and Entei/Raikou is before you, in the air, flapping its wings. Pryce is amazed, and orders Entei/Raikou to come to him. It roars, and ignores his order. Pryce is shocked and indignant, and demands an explanation from Colress, who doesn't understand why the Unown chains broke apart - they were key to controlling it. Entei/Raikou attacks them, sending them both reeling. It floats before you, waiting.
-You challenge Entei/Raikou, Lv60. Capture or defeat it.
-Once captured/defeated, Pryce demands an explanation, and says he couldn't have been wrong. Suddenly, Celebi descends. It shows Pryce his past again - this time, the day he left Team Rocket. It shows him coming to terms with moving on, and looking forward to the future. Pryce then begins to wonder if he had made a mistake this whole time.
-Suddenly, Looker flies in! He challenges Pryce, before realizing that he has already been defeated. Pryce agrees to come quietly. Colress slips away unnoticed.
-Suddenly, Maya, Blaze, and Professor Elm all fly in seperately. They congratulate you on taking them down, and you all head home together. Roll credits.
-Upon resuming, Maya comes to your house, informing you that the league is shut down at the moment to repair the damage Team Rocket did, and that in the meantime we should go and challenge the Kanto gym leaders!
-You head to Cherrygrove City and take the ferry to Vermillion. When you arrive, Looker is there, and thanks you again for your help taking down Team Rocket. However, the three remaining admins are at large, and they believe they are somewhere in Kanto.
-With one exception, the gyms can now be faced in any order. However, two of them require specific events first. The rest, in no particular order:
-Lt. Surge has a Lv56 Raichu, a Lv57 Electrode, a Lv57 Magneton, and a Lv58 Electivire
-Sabrina has a Lv58 Mr. Mime, a Lv58 Slowbro, a Lv59 Espeon, and a Lv62 Alakazam
-Janine has a Lv55 Ariados, a Lv57 Venomoth, a Lv56 Weezing, and a Lv58 Crobat
-Cinnabar Island has a new artificial extension to keep the town proper out of volcano range, and have fully revuilt the town over the water. Blaine has a Lv58 Rapidash, a Lv58 Arcanine, a Lv57 Magcargo, and a Lv60 Magmortar
-Flint, Brock's father (yes, like in the anime) has taken over Pewter Gym. He has a Lv57 Forretress, a Lv57 Magneton, a Lv58 Skarmory, and a Lv60 Steelix.
-Erika is not at her Gym in Celadon - she can instead be found in front of the disused casino. She is speaking to Looker about Team Rocket sightings in the area. She will not battle you until after all of Team Rocket are fought. If you go inside the Casino, you can find Rocket's original base is in use again, and the rest of the rockets are hiding there. You and Looker go through and find Proton and Ariana there. You battle them. Proton has a Lv55 Golbat, a Lv57 Qwilfish, and a Lv57 Weezing. Ariana has a Lv60 Arbok, a Lv59 Vileplume, and a Lv61 Honchkrow. Looker captures them and takes them away. On their desk, you can see a plan to take over the Power Plant. If you head there, you find Petrel, the last Rocket, skulking around in front. He has three Weezings, Lv60, Lv61, and Lv62. Once defeated, he agrees to come quietly, and Looker thanks you for your assistance. You can now fight Erika.
-Erika has a Lv60 Jumpluff, a Lv61 Victreebel, a Lv61 Vileplume, a Lv60 Bellossom, and a Lv64 Tangrowth.
-In Mt. Moon, you encounter a young girl digging for fossils. She has beige overalls, a braided black ponytail, a hard hat, thick gardening gloves, a white dirt-stained tank top, thick round glasses, and freckles. She tells you her name is Bonnie, and says you're welcome to one of the fossils she's just dug up. At that moment, Maya arrives and tells you she already has 6 of the Kanto badges, but can't find the other two gym leaders. She then challenges you to a battle. She has a Lv64 Granbull, a Lv65 Espeon, a Lv64 Rhyperior, two of Lv65 Victreebel/Arcanine/Cloyster, and a Lv66 Meganium/Typhlosion/Feraligatr. After you beat her, Bonnie offers you both a fossil (you pick between Dome and Helix) and she awkwardly says that she's acfually the new Viridian City Gym Leader, and heads back to her gym. You can now challenge her.
-Bonnie has a Lv63 Quagsire, a Lv64 Pupitar, a Lv64 Donphan, a Lv65 Gliscor, and a Lv67 Nidoqueen.
-Upon passing the front of Cerulean Gym, Lorelei will appear. She informs you that this gym is closed now that Misty is in the E4. She retired from the Elite Four years ago to look after her home in the Sevii Islands, but got offered the Gym Leader position here. She arranged for a new gym to be made in the Sevii Islands instead, and to come visit her once you have the other 7 badges. You can travel there from Vermillion.
-At Lorelei's gym on Four Island, you can battle her once you have the other 7 Kanto badges. She has a Lv65 Delibird, a Lv66 Dewgong, a Lv67 Jynx, a Lv67 Glaceon, and a Lv68 Lapras. Once defeated, she grants you the Snow Badge.
-With 16 Badges, you are ready to take on the league again.
-As before, the first member you face is Brock. He has a Lv67 Golem, a Lv68 Kabutops, a Lv68 Omastar, a Lv69 Steelix, a Lv69 Rhyperior, and a Lv70 Aerodactyl.
-The second member is Will. He has a Lv69 Hypno, a Lv70 Wobbuffet, a Lv70 Girafarig, a Lv70 Slowking, a Lv70 Exeggutor, and a Lv71 Xatu.
-The third member is Misty. She has a Lv70 Politoed, a Lv69 Cloyster, a Lv70 Azumarill, a Lv71 Vaporeon, a Lv71 Golduck, and a Lv73 Starmie.
-The fourth member is Karen. She has a Lv71 Umbreon, a Lv72 Honchkrow, a Lv71 Weavile, a Lv72 Gengar, a Lv73 Muk, and a Lv74 Houndoom.
-Finally, you climb the stairs up to the champion, once again. No interruptions from Team Rocket this time. You open the door.
-Silver greets you. He thanks you for yoir work in defeating Team Rocket, and says he doesn't know what would have happened if you hadn't been there. He apologizes for not being able to fight last time, but as the Pokemon League Champion, he will hold nothing back. Silver has a Lv74 Crobat, a Lv73 Weavile, a Lv74 Magnezone, a Lv76 Gengar, a Lv75 Alakazam, and a Lv78 Tyranitar.
-As you defeat him, he congratulates you, and says he knew you had it in you. That he hadn't faced a trainer like you in a decade. He takes you to the hall of fame, and swears you in as the new Pokemon League Champion.
Roll credits, again.
-Finally, as champion, you now have access to Mt. Silver. And who is on top the mountain... but Ethan/Lyra, standing in the spot where they once defeated Red. They say nothing. The battle begins. They have a Lv82 Red Gyarados, a Lv81 Ampharos, a Lv83 Meganium, a Lv83 Typhlosion, a Lv83 Feraligatr, and a Lv85 Togekiss.

(Un)spoken Echoes - An OdyDio Iliad Fic
First OdyDio and The Iliad fic of mine. Woo! All kinda splurge-written in one stream-of-consciousness go, not at all one of the 10+ planned OdyDio fics I've been rotating like rotisserie chickens in my brain. They possessed me, I wrote this, here we are.
Please read, enjoy, reblog, comment - all that good stuff.
Name: (Un)spoken Echoes
Pairings/Characters: Odysseus/Diomedes, Diomedes POV
Snippet: At that, he found himself on the receiving end of that black, thundercloud scowl that Odysseus had treated Agamemnon to several times tonight. He just smiled politely through it, weathering the storm until it broke, which it inevitably did.
Tutting impatiently, Odysseus began to pace restlessly like a caged wolf, “was it not you who once told me that the merit of a man’s words should be in what he says, not the flowery way he says it?” he shot at him.
Diomedes smiled at the fact the other man had retained this little nugget for so long. Likely stored away for use against him at a later time, but even so. It was the fact he had the thought at all that counted, he felt.
“And was it not you who told me in turn that the roses we offer up around the thorns of our words to sweeten their sting are often essential in ensuring that the gift of our advice, however sharp, is actually acknowledged and accepted?”
Summary: Odysseus has a Wild Time between books 13 and 14. This picks up immediately after the war council where Agamemnon suggests leaving (again) and Odysseus loses patience and roasts the ever-loving-fuck out of him. Diomedes thinks they may need to have a small talk about that.
Link in title or read below the cut!
The members of the war council flowed from the room with the rapidity of a river’s waters released suddenly from the dam holding them back. All save Odysseus. He alone remained, hands planted like two immovable oaks anchoring him to the table that he loomed above, surveying the map like a god might survey the world spread out before him.
Diomedes waited until the room had cleared entirely before he spoke, words quieted yet pointed, “that was rather harsh.”
Odysseus’ sharp eyes snapped up and bit into him more fiercely than any arrow. They did not waver nor give him any respite from their bite as he said, voice soft but utterly undeniable in the silence of the room, “was I wrong?”
With a sigh, Diomedes admitted, “No, but,” he added swiftly, heading Odysseus off before he could exalt his victory and shift the target of his focus to another topic before they’d finished with this one, “you did not make your point in such a way that left Agamemnon a way to do anything but reject it.”
At that, he found himself on the receiving end of that black, thundercloud scowl that Odysseus had treated Agamemnon to several times tonight.
This brought the other king up short in his angry prowling. Apparently the surprise of Diomedes having remembered his exact words in turn was startling enough to briefly halt him.
Then he huffed a soft laugh and shook his head, muttering, “I should not have forgotten the lesson I learned long ago about not underestimating the sharpness of the blade your mind is,” he met his eyes, twinkling like twin stars, even in the low candlelight of the room, as he added, “no matter the brutish scabbard it’s hidden in.”
Diomedes, recognising it for the affection it was, if Odysseus’ strange brand of it, smiled in turn.
Though he started and reached briefly for his sword as Odysseus then whirled back to face him with the rapidity of a suddenly diving hawk, pointing a finger at him and glaring again, “which is not to say that I relent or admit defeat in the matter of Agamemnon’s idiocy.”
Diomedes sighed softly again as Odysseus resumed his pacing or, more accurately, irate stomping up and down, muttering, “what was he thinking to suggest that we flee now?”
“That he does not want to watch any more of his people die for him,” Diomedes returned softly, then, taking advantage of Odysseus’ lack of an immediate, whip-crack response as he seemed not to have realised he’d spoken aloud and invited one from him, he added, “or, equally, not wanting to watch the moment he fears, when those same people start refusing to die for him and abandon him alone.”
A contemptuous snort greeted that, with the brutal assertion that, “he would deserve it.” Shaking his head like a majestic stallion irritated by flies the same as a common sheep, he went on, growling, “Agamemnon, lord of men, shepherd of the people’” he mocked, “titles he seems to crave, given how he preens in their presence, but he does not think, nor speak, nor act like the king of kings he is meant to be. ‘I am not telling any man to drag their ships to the water against their will’,” he snarled, repeating Agamemnon’s rebuke to him in evident mockery.
“Is that so wrong?” Diomedes put in quietly, “to not wish to whip men like cattle and force them to obey?”
He was fully aware that he was a poker prodding at the hissing, crackling embers of a fire, and was only going to succeed in rousing it to full flame. But he had often served as the tool of Athena, and found that he did not mind serving as the tool of Odysseus, either, when it was needed. And this, he knew, was needed. His partner needed this chance to blaze and let the fire of his rage erupt. Diomedes knew that he could weather it, and that he could prevent Odysseus burning himself too badly in the process.
As predicted, he turned on him, puffing like a baited boar. “He is supposed to be their king! Our king, the gods grant us the strength to endure it,” he added in a slightly despairing mutter, “it is his right, and his burden, to command, just as it is our duty and burden to obey.” Looking up he met Diomedes’ eyes again and repeated words he had spoken before to him, “‘our victory his glory, our defeat his sorrow’.”
Diomedes bowed his head, acknowledging that, but giving no word in answer. Which left Odysseus the space of silence into which he could huff his frustration, teeth gnashing together with the force of two armies meeting on the battlefield.
“If he lacks such confidence in his plan that he would not give it as an order and demand it be obeyed, then he should not have let the feeble thing out past his lips to watch it stumble and die like a fawn born too early to survive,” Odysseus grumbled somehow effortlessly, and seemingly unconsciously, blending the cruel beauty of life’s struggle to merely exist in contention with all the world, and an idea Agamemon had spoken aloud before it was properly refined in his mind.
“He wants to avoid angering and driving away the others as he did Achilles,” Diomedes noted, reasonably, he felt.
In turn, Odysseus stared at him with a dark expression that very clearly suggested he had taken shits whose wants he cared about more than Agamemnon’s in this moment.
“What he wants is to be wanted,” he spat contemptuously, “he wishes to be loved, and adored and fawned over by all, to never risk making another man wroth with him, and so now he will never risk anything at all.”
“Is that such an evil thing?” Diomedes prompted, fairly, fully expecting that fairness to be swiftly put down like a lame horse as a mercy.
“No,” Odysseus admitted, surprising Diomedes with the apparent evenness of the response, which was not typically what was heard from him when he was in this mood. Then Odysseus restored his faith in him, and by extension the world outwith the tent, confirming both were continuing to act in the manner expected of them when he added, “but if incessant love and fawning was what he wanted, he ought have been a whore, not a king.”
That made Diomedes choke, partially on hastily swallowed laughter, and partially on his own spit. Amused as he was, he dragged a sweeping glance around the tent to make quite sure they were alone, though he knew they must be. He forgave Odysseus’ sometimes frighteningly brutal sense of humour, but others may call it something closer to treason. What they would do to him for that was a risk it was worth looking a paranoid fool to protect him from.
“You were more the king of kings than he,” Odysseus said unexpectedly, and Diomedes felt he knew what it must be like if Helios chose to direct the full power of his blinding light directly upon you, as the intensity of that legendary focus and mind were suddenly upon him. “You stood up and told them what you felt needed to happen clearly and directly, making it evident that it was what had to happen. And you were obeyed, unanimously, at once, as Agamemnon should be.”
Blushing like a boy given his first kiss, Diomedes cleared his throat excessively loudly and turned away from the intensity of that stare, the pride and respect and trust and something deeper they had never dared name blazing from it like an all-consuming forest fire.
When he turned back, he smiled almost playfully, unable to meet that sincere emotion with anything more serious, taking the role in this game they played where one laid their raw, world-changing set of cards upon the table and the other snatched it up like a trickster with an easy flick of the wrist and a laugh lest it ever become too much.
“Are you suggesting that we overthrow our lord of all men Agememnon and put me in his place?” he asked, making his eyebrows dance in an utterly ridiculous manner, which Sthenelus had previously described, deadpan of course, as being like two blind caterpillars attempting to fuck.
Indeed, Odysseus laughed, though from the wince of pain it seemed to cause him as he ghosted a hand over his chest, this was apparently regretted. Not enough to stop him from grinning, however, as he shot back, “do not tempt me.”
The smile they shared was a balm to the sharpness of the day, a necessary moment of levity, lightening their limbs so that they could still go on. As well as acknowledgement from both that this was not a thing either of them would ever truly contemplate. Not unless things became far, far worse than they were now.
Heaving a deep sigh, Odysseus circled back to the table at the room’s centre, looking down at the map spread across it. Diomedes joined him, and mirrored his gaze. His eyes, as they so often were, caught on the delicate little wooden figures scattered across it. Each had been carved, with unnecessary beauty given their purpose, into the likeness of different creatures to represent the different kings, camps, and companions brought with him. Each had been carved by the man now standing at his side. Such skill on display before him. He’d been so casual about it, too, as if this were some idle thing he did without thought or meaning, merely habit, like sharpening a sword.
Not for the first time Diomedes looked at the brilliant, talented, crafty man he’d come to rely on more than almost any other here, and wondered who and what he might have been had he managed to resist the irresistible hand of the gods dragging him into this war. He never wondered these things about himself. His place, and his purpose, was clear, and always had been. He had been born of blood and bronze and carved by immortal hands for one thing and one thing only. Were he not here at Troy he would be in some other war, he had no doubt. The world never seemed to lack for them. But Odysseus… Odysseus…
Abruptly, he realised the man that had been consuming his thoughts was speaking to him again, and forced his mind to this moment and to that voice, “...and perhaps I am being too harsh on him. I know Agamemnon does his best” he was saying softly, the shift in tone surprising, until he noticed the shake to his body, the slowly clenching fist, and the near wild rawness of his eyes. “But, I must confess, I have sometimes felt he has been playing at this war like a man at dice. But the stakes are men’s lives!” he cried, slamming the table with his fist in anger, sending his beautiful little wooden pieces scattering, collapsing like felled trees, helpless before the might of man’s axe. “My men’s lives!” he said, pounding the table again as though he wished it were the world and it would bend as easily to the strength of his emotion. “Men who’s faces I know well as that of my wife! Men who’s faces I will never see again, and will be haunted by forever from my last look at them, too young, too pained, as we covered them over with unfeeling dirt and left them to rot. My friends,” he whispered, voice fading to an anguished rasp.
“My friends,” he repeated, face contorted in a feral, furious snarl of pure pain and grief. Smashing his hand against the table once more, as if he needed the pain and the shock of it to have given him the strength that was in his voice again.
“Friends that I loved. Friends that I watched grow alongside me in Ithaca, climbing in the orchards together. Friends I can never bring home to those orchards. Gone. All of them! And the others, out there, each of them just waiting their turn to follow them down to the House of Hades. Waiting to die and be yet another stain of grief upon my soul that I will never be free of!”
A stain he would never truly want to be free of, either, Diomedes was sure. This was the curse Odysseus had carried with him over the sea. Most of the men he’d brought in his twelve ships were men he knew personally. Knew their names, their father’s names, their mother’s voices, their grandparents’ trades, their secret dreams and hidden hopes. Diomedes commanded too many to know each man by sight and name. He’d always been saddened by that fact, envious of the commanders with fewer numbers who knew their fighters, when knowing a man, friend or foe, was so often the difference between a battle one and a battle lost. Now he saw the sharpened edge of that blade as it stabbed into the heart of his Odysseus.
His Odysseus who raged still, and brought that fury to bear upon the table, crumpling the map, and bloodying his hand, like a storm battering against the walls of a man who unwisely trifled with the father Zeus. Diomedes let him, and made no move to intervene, knowing that he needed this.
Though when his strength finally gave out and his legs buckled beneath him, he was there. He had been expecting this since his fellow king had insisted on leaving his sickbed to join them, so he was ready for it. He caught him, as gently as he could, mindful of his wound, and cushioned the impact that would otherwise have come as he lowered him gently to the ground, cradled safely against him, ignoring the screaming of his own wound as he absorbed the weight of Odysseus’ fall and grief.
“I know,” he whispered quietly, though he knew he did not, “I know.”
Trailing his fingers through the thick curls of Odysseus’ hair, in a mirror of the way he did after their lovemaking, a word he had always inwardly scorned, before he’d met this man, he tried his best to soothe him and be a balm to his pain.
“Easy, easy, I’ve got you,” he murmured gently, wishing the gods had added even a little heart to the blood and bronze they’d created him from, so that he might be better at this.
For his part, Odysseus actually snorted, half-amused and half-indignant, apparently. Looking up at him, eyes red and raw, but still bright, still alive despite it all, he huffed reproachfully, “do not treat me as if I am some skittish horse, breaker of stallions.”
“I wouldn’t dare,” Diomedes replied, with utmost solemnity and sincerity.
But he did not stop stroking Odysseus’ hair. Nor did Odysseus ask him to stop.
After a long while, or possibly a very short time indeed, he couldn’t tell, Diomedes braced himself to say the thing he’d sworn to himself he would say, even though he knew Odysseus would hate it. But he had come to the conclusion that morning that he would rather that, for then at least he could hate Odysseus as well as himself if the worst came to pass, knowing it was because he hadn’t listened, not that Diomedes had not tried. If he could ever bring himself to hate Odysseus at all.
“Do not go into battle again,” he whispered down into the dense brown curls tucked beneath his chin. “There will be no shame in it, all the men know you are wounded. You should return to the healers’ tents and rest.”
“No.”
He had expected the response, spoken as softly as it could be, while still being utterly unyielding, far more gently than he’d deserved it, in truth, knowing what his own reaction would be if he’d been asked to do the same. Yet it hit him harder than any blow he’d ever taken on the battlefield. And, even his very worst, he knew he would endure a hundred times over just to change that response to one that would have pleased his heart so much the Trojans all the way in their sacred city would have heard it sing in joy.
“Odysseus–” he began, but the other interrupted him.
“I cannot, Diomedes. You know I cannot. I cannot leave my men to face this alone. I cannot.”
My friends, he had said, my friends, he’d continued to cry in Diomedes’ arms, trembling and wracked with unbearable agony from his wound at every sob, yet he’d let them come all the same. He knew what he was asking him, and hated himself for it, even a little, as Odysseus must surely hate him for it now, but he pressed the attack all the same. It was the only thing he knew how to do, the only way he knew how to defend those he cared for.
“They would not have to be alone,” Diomedes told him, forcing himself through the arguments, determined to exhaust every weapon that he had armed himself with, to refuse to accept defeat until his corpse was dropped in the dust, incapable of fighting anymore. “I will take them under my command, join your men with mine. They know each other well, from the training and battles we’ve fought together, as they know and trust me. I will care for them on your behalf as if they were my own,” he swore, and meant it, he meant every damned breath of it. For all that it mattered.
Gripping the edge of the table, Odysseus pulled himself up, and out of Diomedes’ arms, with a stifled grunt of pain.
Without looking at Diomedes, even as he rose to his feet alongside him, suppressing a grimace, Odysseus said quietly, again, “no.”
“Odysseus for once in your damned life would you consider being reasonable? You are wounded!” Diomedes snapped, jabbing a finger at his chest, at the injury that, but for the grace of Athena, would have killed him mere hours before, leaving nothing but dust swirling in the air where his lover now stood.
“We are all wounded,” Odysseus replied in that steady, even voice.
That awful voice he used when he was carefully sculpting any evidence of emotion from himself. That voice he used with strangers and friends alike when he felt need to hide. That voice Diomedes had not heard directed at him in so long that he'd begun to delude himself into believing he never would again.
“But ‘let us go back to fighting, wounded as we are’,” he said, and his own words spoken back to him like this felt like a blow to the head from a god, “we have to,” he added, because he would never not twist the knife a final time.
Another thing Diomedes had once said to him. That last twist was the cheap price of cruelty for the priceless certainty that the job was done.
“Is that not what you said?” Odysseus threw at him, and gods, how quickly it could turn, like a beloved hound gone rabid, a thing he so loved about a man could so easily become a thing he loathed, as he did in this moment.
“This is an entirely different context to the one in which I spoke those words,” Diomedes growled, and he did not have the blank, empty voice that Odysseus could muster, free of the frustration and anguish he felt now. He wished that he did. Just so he could feel what it was like to have to listen to that from a man he–
“A point,” Odysseus allowed, inclining his head in acknowledgement, as if they were at a casual debating contest and he was conceding a fair point lost. “I do value your counsel, of course, Son of Tydeus,” he paused a moment, just to watch that strike precisely where it had been aimed, right at the heart of him. “If you have reconsidered our earlier discussion, I will of course return to the healers’ tents with you, where we who are wounded should rest.”
Damn him. Damn him by all the gods he knew and all those who had long been forgotten. Because he held Diomedes’ stare with a steady, unflinching calm. The calm of a man who does not look at the dice he throws, does not need to, for he has loaded them to guarantee his outcome, and knows what they will be. A calm that could drive a good, sane man to berserk, bloody insanity for how badly he wanted to rip it from him.
“I cannot–” Diomedes growled, knowing he was stepping directly into Odysseus’ trap, feeling its jaws spring up and snap around him, trapping him in place, but he couldn’t help it.
The response came immediately, mercilessly, before he'd even had a chance to draw breath, let alone brace himself for its impact.
“Yet you ask me to do this thing you cannot bring yourself to do?”
“It is not the same!” Diomedes barked furiously, “an arrow in the foot is not equal to that of a spear to the chest and you know it, Odysseus.”
There was a moment, the briefest beat of time, where Odysseus actually faltered a step in his relentless bludgeoning of Diomedes’ argument. Then he took a breath, raising his hands in a gesture of peace, meeting his eye and nodding slightly. And in that moment there was just enough time for Diomedes to believe that he might, perhaps, if the gods had ever favoured him, be considering being reasonable.
“You must admit, the spear and the arrow do share similar qualities,” he had the infuriating audacity to ponder, eyes twinkling, “both long, straight sticks with sharp ends, capable of piercing flesh, both–”
“Don’t,” Diomedes breathed, the words as near silent as a whisper carried upon a mountain breeze, more like to lose its way than ever find an open ear.
Yet Odysseus heard, he knew, and Odysseus felt. He watched the realisation strike him, the realisation that, for the first time, Diomedes could not bring himself to indulge in their typical game of deflection and levity. He had not, could not take the bait that would have allowed him to be pulled from the ever-darkening depths they were sinking to in the reality and rawness of this emotion that threatened to drown them both.
“Do not ask me to laugh in the face of the thing that almost took you from me, Odysseus. Do not.”
They teetered on the razor’s edge of that fleeting, fracturing moment, lingering for a fraction of a heartbeat, longer than they ever had before, in this feeling that had stirred between them years ago, yet had never borne a name, their tongues too heavy, their lips too fragile, to bear the weight and birth it. He felt it now, rising between them, daring Odysseus, all but impossible for him to resist.
Yet he did.
He turned to anger, eyes narrowed, sliced by the razor’s bite and enraged by it as he slipped from its edge, but chose to seize it like a man at a cliff edge, even though it cut into his flesh to do so.
“Do not ask you to laugh in the face of death?” he repeated softly, then his voice darkened like a calm day twisting suddenly to storm, rough and cold, and almost cruel as he hissed, “do not ask again, don’t you mean, Diomedes?”
Those eyes, those damned eyes, pinned him in place and held him there as sure as chains as Odysseus continued.
"We have done this dance before. You asked me to do it just the other day - after you wounded two gods. You bade me laugh for you, then. And I did.” That last word bit into his very bones like the sharpest winter cold. “Why can you not do me the same courtesy now?" he murmured, voice becoming so suddenly soft, where it had been harsh and hard, it was nearly breathtaking.
"You know why," he whispered, shocked at how faint his voice sounded, even to his own ears.
"What I know,” Odysseus returned, and Diomedes could have hated him, were he capable of that, for how controlled and unaffected he sounded when he spoke, “what we both know, is that I will not abandon my companions on the field of battle for any wound that is even a fraction less than one which would claim my life. The same as you, my friend,” he added with a slight smirk that, had he not caught the way it trembled in spite of all of Odysseus' composure, he might have punched from his face along with several teeth. “But,” he said, and though his tone had brightened to an attempt at nonchalance, Diomedes knew that it was an attempt, a pretty lie from the pretty liar he should have cut all strings from before he learned how to make him dance with them. “as I stand here in this planning chamber addressing you, Diomedes; not before grim Hades in his dread House, I shall see you in battle.”
He had nothing, in either heart or mind to say to that, but, needing to be sure, Odysseus added with the finality of a spear through the throat, “there is nothing more to be said."
Then he left. With a thousand lost epics of things yet to be said lingering in the chasm he carved between them, stretching on after him as he walked away. And did not look back.

Silly goofy cross guild idea that will not leave my head, but hear me out
Buggy being the mafia wife archetype is well and good, it is one of the best, hottest takes on the PLANET and I'll die on that hill. But we also need to touch base on the blending of cultures and tastes here where I am currently FROTHING over.
Crocodile being Alabastan and taking over his once-home in a bid for control and for reasons that haven't been touched upon. Why Alabasta? Is it the 'wanis? Are fruitwani native there? If so, if Alabasta ISN'T his homeland, what made him choose there? What started his love of fruitwani? What lead to a mafia instead of a pirate and what does that mean for his character??? ((Middle Eastern and maybe smth English, German or Russian, smth about that scratches a brain itch for Croc, might be the languages-))
And Mihawk. My silly spooky little swordsman is full of mysteries and I am ROTATING him. Mach speed. Full 360 tail spin in my frontal lobe. Is he human? If he is, what was his upbringing like? What was his childhood? His parents? His homeland? Does he speak other languages? ((I love the idea of Mihawk being the One Piece equivalent of French)).
Buggy's heritage is Unknown (jazz hands), but he was raised by Roger who has Big Gaelic Energy, no I will not explain, it's RIGHT THERE. On that note though, Buggy grew up on a pirate crew, a bunch of headstrong fellas from all sorts of places, with all sorts of lives. Buggy's a little melting pot, a drifter, and while some things are poignantly Roger's in his words, actions or beliefs, he's all over the place with a wide palette.
Now the three of them learning and picking things up from each other. They wind up leaving marks on each other.
Mihawk sings quietly to himself sometimes in French, usually while gardening or cooking. Buggy and Crocodile learn the songs by osmosis.
Crocodile sometimes calls the others by certain pet names or gives orders in his own mother tongue, or he'll organize things a certain way, set up smth in a specific manner, idek, my brain is fried but the vibe, the VIBE is there.
Buggy shares dances or recipes from his childhood. Just... yes. Them bleeding into each other's spaces. Them leaving marks on one another metaphorically.
((Also them slowly incorporating bits of each other in apparel. Buggy opting for richer or darker colors or cuts. Crocodile incorporating lace and pops of red. Mihawk adding textures to his eyeliner and updating his harness with more crisscrosses.))

rotating potential Mat Show Structures in my brain...........assuming that ebou dar is cut (which feels likely if mat is indeed already having a southwestern coastal roadtrip with elayne and nynaeve in s3), what if:
s3: gets his marriage prophecy, tanchico trip with the girls, meets tuon (without knowing she's Prophecy Wife) but they go their separate ways by the end of the season
s4: returns to rand's side, forms the band, leads the band as part of the dumai's wells rescue mission because dumai's wells needs to involve as many main characters as possible goddammit (and because i need the romance of mat helping rescue rand)
s5: leads a campaign against the seanchan with rand and/or on rand's behalf (depending on what else rand has going on this season), reencounters tuon and kidnaps her (but may or may not yet know she's Prophecy Wife; either way, kidnapping motive is instead something calculating like taking a high-ranking seanchan as a prisoner of war, or something morally righteous like rescuing her from her own people's assassins and taking her off with him to keep her safe)
this would be adding mat into rand's TPOD storyline, of course, but at the same time it would ALSO be mat absorbing ituralde's storyline from the next few books. i remember talking once with @butterflydm about how ituralde is basically Knockoff Mat in that he's getting a whole spotlit Clever General storyline while mat, who's supposed to be our main Clever General, is off fucking around in the circus.
so i feel like involving mat in the seanchan campaigns could be an elegant solution all around. mat actually gets to fulfill his narrative role of leading armies on rand's behalf, the seanchan campaign storyline is in the hands of a main character (vs. rand doing it only briefly and then ituralde taking over the bulk of it), mat gets involved with the seanchan in a manner more organic than "author drops a wall on him to force him to encounter them", and it lends a huge amount of much-needed enemies-to-lovers narrative tension to the mat/tuon relationship if he is actively leading military campaigns against her forces (like he did for about.......5 pages in the books).
now wandering off into very-hypothetical ship-related territory thinking of what mat/tuon would look like in this scenario.
i'm thinking mat never finds out during s3 that tuon is a high-ranking seanchan and thinks she's just His Good Buddy Tuon (because she's disguised and undercover). but as the s3 finale stinger, the audience finds out that tuon is mat's Prophecy Wife AND is the heir to the seanchan throne, so we've got some tasty dramatic irony. s4 has tuon doing a solo storyline of seanchan political intrigue, either still in the western westlands or back in the actual court in seanchan (the latter would be sooooo cool, but it depends on how many times they want her zipping back and forth between continents). but her time spent with mat, elayne, and nynaeve (two marath'damane who are in fact people!) in s3 has got the gears turning, and in s4 we get to see tuon in her natural habitat but we also see that she's starting to question and doubt some Seanchan Ways because our kids have expanded her worldview.
in s5, tuon is tasked with heading up the next wave of military efforts in the westlands. so when mat crosses her path again, she is decked out in full seanchan regalia and he realizes that His Good Buddy Tuon is a high-ranking seanchan and must have been using him in s3 when she acted like his friend, so he's all hurt and betrayed (alternately, this reveal could happen as their final scene in s3 and mat is still feeling betrayed when they reunite in s5), but tuon genuinely did like him in s3 so she's hurt that he now hates her but she also can't reveal any of this weakness because he's the enemy general and her people would think she's a traitor if she shows any hints of non-hostile feelings towards him, and despite his anger mat can't help holding onto some non-hostile feelings for her which makes him even more angry with himself, and it's all very delicious.
kidnapping happens, and for s6 they embark on a roadtrip back across the continent (maybe with mat intending to deliver tuon as a hostage to rand; we could even mix the 2 motives i brainstormed, where he impulsively saves her life out of feelings but Then justifies it as taking her with him as a hostage), and all this prior development means several good things for the show being able to sell their relationship as a bona fide romance (and tuon as a dynamic, complex character).
1) tuon having spent time with westlanders and free channelers already in s3 and having spent s4-5 questioning Seanchan Ways on her own means she is now primed for a final push over the edge of unlearning seanchan conditioning and admitting that slavery is wrong (which she has to do IF the show wants mat/tuon to be a bona fide romance rather than a political marriage; a political marriage with an unrepentant tuon would also be a viable route, but show!mat would never ever ever fall in love with an unrepentant slaver so if it's going to be a bona fide romance then she has to repent) and ideally admitting that she herself can channel (feat. tasty scene early in the season of her accidentally channeling for the first time to protect mat). now tuon is a complex character who grows and develops over the course of the story, and it does not defy all reason, credibility, and established characterization that mat could fall for her. improvement!
2) if mat is feeling angry and betrayed by the discovery of tuon's seanchan identity, and if tuon is hurt by this because she genuinely likes him and wasn't faking friendship in s3 and wishes he would believe her, now mat has the "upper hand" in their roadtrip dynamic, so to speak, and tuon is in the position of needing to work to earn mat's trust. so rather than mat nonsensically handing over his loyalty and protectiveness at the drop of a hat to tuon who's used to being worshipped and takes mat doing so as her due and walks all over him with no pushback, now it's a more equal dynamic and a better power balance because tuon has to work hard to give mat (and the audience) a reason to believe she's Better Than Other Seanchan. improvement!
imagine how hard the "you're not my enemy, but your empire is" line would go in this context!
and i haven't even thought about when mat would find out tuon is Prophecy Wife in this structure. i would love for it to be not until after he's already falling for her naturally, but if he's fighting against a seanchan army that she's leading in s5, he might not be able to go very long without hearing the "daughter of the nine moons" title. idk! even if he does find out fairly early, i know that show!mat would not let this information immediately remove his spine from his body, so i have faith either way.
#wot#wot book spoilers#i forgot to even say#if rand IS involved in the campaign for part of s5#imagine if we had cauthor together for season 4 AND part of season 5!!!! the joy that would bring me!!!!#melding main characters' plotlines together whenever possible 100% feels like something the show would do#and if rand keeps his seanchan campaign (idk if he will)#(the Callandor Flaw Live Demonstration IS pretty major but it could be worked into a different storyline if necessary)#then it feels like a very natural storyline to involve mat in since mat is rand's general AND is deeply narratively tied to the seanchan

hi,
I'm fascinated by ur Loki works, and since I'm currently rereading all my favourites I wanted to ask about your general headcanons for Loki, and your opinions on all the movies and appearances Loki had. Basically, could you please talk about Loki, because i feel like my idea of Loki and your idea of Loki are similar. bye!!
"Do you want to rant at me about your favorite character?" I mean. do you want my first born?
general headcanons:
there's this scene in Loki: Where Mischief Lies where Loki has a throwaway line that talks about how it never matters when Thor hits him even if it gets violent and it rotates around in my head like a microwave all the time. Such an interesting concept that Thor took things too far but Loki never said anything because that's Just What Siblings Do TM
Loki's hair is soft to the touch, not greasy, because I will die mad about loki's hair in ragnarok
loki steals clothing. This is something you can see in all my fics, he's constantly stealing things from everyone.
Loki is ace, never had sex, and isn't interested in changing that. I don't think he's aro, I think he is interested in romantic love to some extent, but I think sex is just mid to him
loki's magic pokes at all five senses. It's something you can see, taste, hear, touch, and smell
loki got "food poisoning" a lot as a kid because his body was made for jotun stuff and like. asgard doesn't have that
Loki has a moral code, and there are lines he won't cross
loki doesn't lie that much, people just gave him the name because he's shifty and it was a rumor that was started by thor that he lies all the time
loki and thor's relationship has only gotten more complicated as they've gotten older and they have the brain chemistry to process things better, look at their childhoods and go, uh, bro, wait a minute
frigga wasn't a very good mom to loki, even though she tried
Loki can cook
loki uses magic less now that he's older, not because he's not good at it, but because he just like. he uses more subtle magic, and he doesn't need to turn his magic into a glowy show when he could just punch you in the face
loki is a man of few words
loki being captured and watching him lose his mind is straw that broke the camel's back for Gamora, who left shortly after he agreed to help thanos
loki wasn't mind controlled per se in the first avengers, the scepter was just affecting his feelings, but not more than anyone else? Loki was just genuinely tortured/coerced into this by thanos and they didn't have to force him to do anything. he was too terrified to say no. scepter was just an added bonus to cement the control
loki absolutely has permanent spinal damage from his time with thanos
I have a bazillion of these i could literally go on for ages.

thoughts on movies:
Uh. Okay. um. How do I say this without getting slain? I...do not think, objectively, that any of the Thor movies are good movies. I think they have fantastic concepts, and wonderful characters, and I adore poking at them, but I think one of the reasons that they're so beloved is because of their potential not because of what they are. People love thinking about what could have been and what they wished happened, because there's very little that's actually satisfyingly completed about the films.
Because the Thor movies are not...It. You kind of have to go hunting for outside material for pieces to be connected together and thor 2 has lots of issues that not even thor 1 could have dreamed of, and Thor 1 is just. A disaster, narratively. I think Thor 3 is definetly the most well put together movie, which sucks because it's the one that botched the characters beyond repair. You either have good characters and awful story or fantastic story and terrible characters with no inbetween.
Trying to talk about why I don't think the movies are good - objectively, as movies - has never ended super well for me, but yeah, i just. I don't. I don't think they're very good. I can break it down in more detail if anyone is interested, but there seems to exist two opinions on tumblr: you either think thor 1 - tdw is an untouchable master piece or you don't and there's nothing good to say about them at all.
I have endless praise to give the movies, but that doesn't mean I don't have criticisms, because, good lord, they suck in some places. Loki's character arc is the most baffling mishandle of a character that I have ever witnessed, and yes, I mean this from the get go. Connecting thor 1 - thor 2 takes some mental math.
Thor 1: Interesting set-up for Loki's character, I like how careful they are with setting him up to make sure that his arc was clear and the line between victim and villain was really blurred. They did a good job on making him sympathetic, and revealing an interesting concept with him and Thor, even if I don't think it was executed as well as I wanted.
Avengers 1: adore poking at Loki and Thanos's relationship here. I cannot get enough of it. I like writing with the avengers mostly because of all that didn't happen in the movie that I wished had. There's so many narrative secrets that don't get addressed or glossed over and I just want it picked apart
Thor 2: i enjoy seeing Loki and Thor working together, Loki's deteriorating mental stay in prison is always fascinating, and generally tdw is my favorite movie and portrayal of loki. It's what I usually base all my fics off of is how he acts in this movie. 10/10, will sing praises
thor 3: my loathing for this movie has shriveled considerably since i saw it the first time, but i'd still be hardpressed to say i liked anything they did with loki's character. Loki is self-sabatoging constantly, and his character makes no sense whatsoever. he is the village idiot, and like, i'm not really into that.
Infinity War: Honestly, i'm just gonna say it - i really did like what they did with loki in this movie. Like yeah, I wanted him to help and be an important part of the story, yeah, of course, but I also appreciate from a writing perspective what a powerful move killing him off before the credits was. Loki was the Big Bad of the first avengers and murdering him set the stakes amazingly. It carried Thor's entire arc, and it felt like a shroud that was layered over the movie. I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I appreciated what they did with it, and I like the tragedy.
---
Appearance:
not a single scene in ragnarok with him it it did not make me want to chew off my foot, his character design was awful. I will never understand why everyone was drooling over the black suit, it looked like it was bought from walmart and then the wrinkles smoothed out with a flat iron. His hair is greasy af for no reason, all of his clothing looks cheap and ugly. there's nothing impressive or visually interesting about him. the choice to remove his colors so hela can take them will never not be annoying to me even though hela is my baby child
thor 1 has the best hair, in my opinion, but he also looks stupid as hell in his armor. loki's design, to me, works best when it has long lines and it's flowy and/or soft. visually nice:
and like the reason it's visually nice is because it's soft and doesn't make me notice tom hiddleston's hips. The moment i'm aware of his hips i get irritated as hell about it, because idk man, loki just. he does not look good when you're aware he has hips. tom hiddleston is like fine, somehow? i don't know why it doesn't bother me when he's wearing whatever he wants to - i also just like. do not care - but with loki i'm just like. oh good LORD stop making me aware of your hips.
It's why i can't stand his ragnarok suit but would sing praises over the thor 1 one.
It's something that's just like. confounded me forever, because i don't even know why it bugs me so much, but every time i see his TVA outfit, thor 1 armor, or that stupid ragnarok suit i want to shoot a canon ball into the sun.
Give the man a suit coat or do not put him in a jacket. loki has lots of skills but pulling off a jacket is not one of them.
He needs to look haunted, like, in general. Or like an 18th century tired man. it's integral for his character to me.
things that make galaxy happy:
loki soft hair
loki having suit coat or suit coat equivalent
things that will send her into a ranting, unwanted, nitpicky rage
loki greasy hair
loki dressed in jackets
#answered#loki#honestly it's been a while since i gave any opinions about loki#like i still love him very much mcu has just been so exhausting recently that it gives me more fatigue to work in it than less#i just feel like...out of steam with it#i should go rewatch a few movies to remind myself it does bring me joy when it doesn't suck

Okay I finished the BOOK
YAYYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYYA
God I need fanfics of Molly living with Giovanni now like T-T
AHGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH JUS
JU- AHHAHHSHHSHAHDJXBJBSKSJKZBSJS
Everything I ever WANTED
AND NOW THAT IVE FINISHED
My verdict on Lorelai:
I'm glad that whatever growth she may go through, Molly won't be suffering when she inevitably backtracks along the way. It'd be nice to see the two mend their relationship but it is definitely for the better that they've been separated.
I wanna see Lorelai struggle and grow but she shouldn't get anymore opportunities to hurt Molly, much less for the sake of her learning a lesson. So it's better this way imo
And now that Molly isn't there, Lorelai's gonna have to run the shop and learn her lesson through CUSTOMER SERVICE joining zuko and others in the redemption arc trend of becoming redeemed by dealing with bitchy people
I very much don't mind rotating Lorelai in my brain a lil more cuz I don't hate her. I want to bunt her across the room when she hurts Molly ofc, I will not retract my statements, but I hate HER FATHER more than her
Cuz her father has no excuse to be the way he is. I'll get back to Lorelai in a moment cause she is definitely NOT faultless, but HIM?? He enabled all of this. He never checked in with his daughters and was always so inconsiderate of them. AND HES A GROWN MAN! It's telling that Giovanni goes off on him more than he does Lorelai cause in the end, he did nothing.
Back to Lorelai, she feels like a very intentionally immature character. Immature and selfish in a way that contrasts with Molly when Molly is the actual kid. I mean, Lorelai is 17 and all but by that age you can fairly expect someone to grasp not leaving your 12 yr old sibling to suffer under responsibilities your supposed to share.
And Lorelai being immature I think is added to by her fear that she's the reason her mother died. And the grief in all that. I think it's a good enough reason to feel sympathetic for how she's spiraled into this unhealthy coping mechanism and separates her from her father when it comes to being a rotten person.
By the end of the book it still felt like she hadn't grasped WHY what she did was bad to me and I'm kinda hoping that was an intentional writing decision. The book shows how she doesn't grasp some things like what makes someone a genuinely horrible person and so for her to still not quite see how what she did was bad, feels fitting.
By the end of seemed to me like, she KNEW what she did wasnt okay because Giovanni told her off and she was confronted with the truth that, she wasn't the good guy. Yet knowing that didn't make her understand what her actions specifically caused. Despite. Molly telling her.
I want to look up shenanigans between Molly and Giovanni in fics but I also kinda want to see Naven and Lorelai's relationship with the steps she'll make to become a better person
So def a ways away from growing significantly but I like that Naven has stuck around offering his help should she accept it. I mean Giovanni did that too but Naven's role in her story hits HARD
[EDIT: God I'm embarrassed Naven only pointed out Giovanni's card he left behind, ONLY GIOVANNI reached out if she wanted to work on herself to be better BUT I STILL LIKE TO THINK SHE AND NAVEN KEPT IN CONTACT SHUSH he could like give her some tough love]
Speaking of relationships, idk about Giovanni x Lorelai
I mean I still think it could be cute, Lorelai's crushing scenes are hilarious as much as they are sad and envoke feelings of "I just want good things for Lorelai". I def don't think she deserves him rn but I do think that, since Giovanni hasn't shut down her becoming his minion in THE FUTUREE, when she learns to be good at being bad, she has a shot.
Though, it's still a little lost on me if Giovanni has figured out she has been crushing on him HARD. Like, he picked up on her cheating and bullying but did he pick up on any of the signs for her affection?? Makes me think she's gonna have a hard time in the friendzone if she became a minion. Not sure what Giovanni with a crush would look like either tho so.
I have a bit of a hard time seeing Giovanni crushing on her but I still think their dynamic is cute enough! Just dragged down by how awful she's been to everyone and HIS NUMBER 1 MINIONNN
but the more I think about it, I think it'd be great to see them as just friends. Like, getting on the level of best buds and Lorelai loses her crush on him. Both still maintaining the dynamic they had in that last fight with all the bantering cuz they are pretty similar
If they ever became romantic though. Like. Molly and Lorelai's relationship NEEDS to be healed and I think healed for a WHILE. I just can't see it working out otherwise. This would probably need to ring true if they were to become best friends too but EVEN MORE SO if they got mushy (as in the failed baking trials that would compromise 40% of the time they would hang out. Love language quality time)
Anyway
Ngl I already got my own angsty ideas for Lorelai because self hatred + not wanting to be the bad guy is such a delicious combination of traits that contradict each other yet still exist never the less
I wonder how Lorelai reacted the morning she realized Molly was gone and gone for good. I'm betting she at first believed she'd be hanging out with her friends and would be back. Then a day passes. Then another. And another. She asks her father if he's seen Molly and is reminded he doesn't care. I wonder if she confronted Naven about where Molly was, if she'd at first lash out when he doesn't tell her, and that reminds her why this happened.
She probably couldn't wallow in self pity for very long since she'd be working now, but still vry interesting how it'll play out
#also imagine in a session with Naven where he's been teaching lorelai for a while#she's accepted his help even if begrudgingly#and one day she accidentally calls him dad.#hdjsghdsv HAHA CAN YOU IMAGINE HER EMBARRASSMENT#he just. freezes.#she runs away and they never speak of it again#epithet erased prison of plastic#epithet erased prison of plastic spoilers#epithet erased spoilers#epithet erased#prison of plastic#prison of plastic spoilers#lorelai blyndeff#giovanni potage#molly blyndeff#naven nuknuk#is that his last name?#martin blyndeff

i think i fooled myself into believing i sent an ask before whoops can i get 5, 7, 17, 25, 31, 33, 39, 40, 43, 45, 50!!!
5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?
well honestly Selene is already what I would consider a popular oc because like. more than a handful of people know who she is and have said nice things about her and people have ??? drawn her ??? unprompted ??? which is WILD shoutout to the Selene fandom once again. so if I had an option to make one (1) oc popular on a larger scale it would probably be her because I already know she'd click with people (and also she's my favorite and I'd never get sick of talking about her/seeing other people talk about her).
but also as a secondary option, Aqun and/or Adina because I feel like they have some fun nuance to them and I'd be kind of curious to see different people's takes/opinions/interpretations of them
7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories?
BDJDBSJSHSJSBSJDJDKS well?????? yes?????????
most of them are part of the story of their associated videogame, and then there's all the fic I'm writing. I do also have some non-fandom characters/settings rotating in my brain, but it's nothing concrete enough to talk about
17. Any OC OTPs?
no OCxOC ones, but a lot of OCxcanon ones tbh. if we narrow "OTP" down to One True Pairing as in "I can't envision them with anything else" then it's Selene and Edér (surprising no one) and Mae and the Devil of Caroc (which also shouldn't be surprising). if we interpret it as "favorite ship regardless of whether this PC has other ships", then I'm adding SolAqun to the list bc they've also been on the brain lately. the holy trinity of Doomed Yaoi, Undoomed Yuri and Impending Doom Het Ship
25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)
funnily enough probably Aqun. we look nothing alike but Aqun🤝me (multicultural, multilingual, single child, STEM, Logic and Rationality as a coping mechanism, inclined towards Making Things, burning hatred of Social Overcomplication)
31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)
Adina would 1000% be on here and her blog would be red-themed with yellow/blue/green accents, have a custom HTML theme she edited herself with artwork BY her, and it would be just all of her interests in one big pile with a barely functioning tagging system. she posts her vitaar designs a lot and her pfp is Her Actual Face with her favorite vitaar design up to date. she uses all caps/keysmashes a lot and vibes perfectly with tumblr's more absurdist kind of humor. Funny Nonsense comes to her effortlessly
33. Your shyest OC?
LORENZO. he's trying so hard to figure out how to People and having the physique of a Death Omen + an evil voice in his head is not helping. also he was a slave for the first 24-ish years of his life and old habits of Be Quiet Be Helpful Don't Speak Unless Spoken To die hard
39. Introduce any character you want
making you look at: the guy from the previous question. he's a runaway slave. he's a Ghost Bard. he was briefly possessed by the god of death and killed everyone in his master's estate with a song. he can sing ghosts into existence. he's haunted by his evil past life. he doesn't speak Aedyran (Eoran English) that well yet. HE'S SHY.

40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!
@curiouslavellan I have to shout you out again because brainstorming Selene and Helaine plotlines in real time in DMs has been one of this year's highlights for sure. the people don't even know about the soul merging in POE1 and the Selene Is Dead drama in POE2. they don't even know about the werewolf au (well. one other person knows about the werewolf au)
43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It’s time to confess
I'm going to be real, my OC creation process IS just like. *spins wheel* so what's the source of YOUR deep set feeling of alienation
45. A character you no longer use?
shoutout to this girl who is an old creepypasta OC of mine. I still care her
50. Give me the good ol’ OC talk here. Talk about anything you want
subjecting you to the mental image of Aqun and Eldritch Wolf Solas chilling together in some nice scenic place. they never got to do that but I think they should have
#thanks for the ask!!!!#oc: adina saar#oc: aqun adaar#oc: watcher lorenzo#oc: watcher selene#herearedragons speaks

GOOD NEWS!
wicked movie… good
ok first of all i gotta say… i shipped gelphie before i really understood People Can Be Gay And I Can Be One Of Those People. i saw the musical on stage and was like. huh…. these two girls should have ended up with each other instead of fiyero. they give me soft feelings. baby’s first yuris…..
i went in with low expectations of course because as we all know movie adaptations of musicals can be very hit or miss, and film adaptations of anything lately have been mostly garbage it seems. but thank GOD they delivered on this one (or at least the first half).
- Honestly out of everything my favorite part has GOT to be the set design. the village, the school, the city, the miniature city, the tower, the FUCKING ROTATING LIBRARY?!?!?!?! coolest shit ever. knocked it out of the fucking PARK.
- costume design was also phenomenal. love all the funny little outfits. the gowns, the shoes, THE shoes, the variation in the school uniforms, the glasses, the sheer amount of Pink Things in glinda’s wardrobe (and the choices of which scenes to wear which shades of pink? spot on)… i’d unironically wear that Froat. gorgeous needle felting. and of course all the funny outlandish costumes in the One Short Day scene were amazing, especially those bouncy men, and those twisty ribbony skirts…
- also speaking of student uniforms i LOVED seeing visibly queer people at shiz. that half-skirt-pants thing was iconic. loved every instance of gender nonconformity, no matter how small. i’d love to rewatch the movie just for that. of COURSE this colorful magical musical world is filled with people like us and thank GOD the director + cast + crew had the brains/heart/courage to display that on screen.
- special shoutout to jonathan bailey whom once again has baffled me with his ability to convincingly fall in love with women on screen… but this time he gets to be a little bi with it! he managed to seduce practically every single student in that school, even boq, hot damn
- loved boq’s little quirk of standing on things to make himself taller. and - can’t remember if this was in the stage version - the line about the hankerchiefs “i cry a lot.” all those little foreshadowing moments made me chuckle. “Get Stuffed.” can’t WAIT to see fiyero get stuffed in part 2 ;0
- side note, i heard they might be adding a new musical number to part 2?!?!? and if it were up to me… i’d love to see some fun scarecrow/tin man/cowardly lion three-part harmonies. they probably won’t do that though since it’d be hard to do so without making dorothy an Actual Character and i like that she’s a faceless plot device in this version of the wizard of oz story. time will tell
- i thought the whole thing was very well cast. even though there were some cases i wish they had gone with better vocalists… (michelle yeoh and jeff goldblum) their acting chops did definitely make up for it so i’m satisfied
- one little detail i really really loved is there’s this illustrated poster of the wizard you see in the background in several shots throughout the movie - and it looks like a bland generic white man… but once they reveal which actor is actually playing the wizard you realize in hindsight… hey it DOES kinda look like jeff goldblum. not super recognizably, but the facial proportions are there. they got his wide set eyes. whichever illustrator did that, you toed the line between accurate and vague soooooooo well. hats off to you
- the one thing that kinda irked me acting wise was ariana grande’s lack of facial animatedness…. i’ll begrudgingly accept it as a Character Choice since she rocked the vocals and the body language (and i know she worked her ass off for her dream role) but oh man. would have loved to see her wrinkle up her face a bit more. sigh.
- cynthia erivo fucking KILLED ITTTTTTT in all respects. i got nothing negative to say about her at all, mwah mwah mwah. she’s gorgeous and she has such a great voice and was such a good choice for the role.
- hair and makeup crew for elphaba killed it too, awesome wig, awesome nails, awesome shades of green in her skin (and the cute little freckles!!!!)…. beautiful. selfishly i thought she looked better with the glasses but that’s a Me Thing. i think everyone would look better with glasses
- staging and choreography was awesome. every number was great. they even managed to make everyone’s least favorite song A Sentimental Man entertaining! the power of cinema! and shadow puppets!
- loved the addition of the other animal characters to Something Bad. aging mustachioed snow leopard…. call me
- and fiyero’s banter with his horse… great way to show what kind of person he is right off the bat: snarky and playful but also got a kind heart and doesn’t look down on anyone.
- i had heard a negative comment (on xitter of all places, should have known) that they padded out the runtime with a bunch of stupid filler but honestly i didn’t think it was stupid. i guess it was frustrating from the point of view of someone who wanted to sing along to the songs as i know them from the obc soundtrack but, like. it made sense. the pacing felt good.
- of all the New Additions to the film (and besides the aforementioned badass rotating library) my favorite was probably glinda’s two besties. they probably had names idk. LOVED them. great comic relief without taking too much attention to themselves. looking forward to seeing them again in part 2…. and i love having no idea what’s going to happen to them. will they recede into the background? get mini character arcs? split apart or stay together? either way they’ve gotta stick around because they are so entertaining to see on screen.
- i can safely say i’m shipping gelphie again. they are very important to me. love this beautifully tragic doomed yuri.
- the little smiles… the gestures… the development of their relationship… the part when they’re laying in bed together looking at each other… AAUUUUGGGHHHHHH MY LITTLE GAY HEART CAN’T TAKE IT
-Do You Think They Explored Each Others’ Bodies Flushed Emoji
- ok but this time. im smart enough at media now. i recognize that fiyero is a Good Character and not just getting in the way of the girls. he can be part of this relationship too. in a perfect world the three of them could all get married together………… but this is not a perfect world
- god. what a great movie. i’m really eager to watch it again already. the level of detail and love that was put into this production is so, so, so clear. thanks to jon chu for recognizing this story is so important to so many people and transferring that onto the big screen with not only fidelity but creativity and passion. from the producer to the director to the cast and crew - especially the crew and ESPECIALLY the section of the crew specifically dedicated to covid management. everyone involved gave their all and, pun intended, i couldn’t be happier. thank goodness!
- oh wait never mind i forgot my least favorite part of the movie. the kristen chenoweth idina menzel cameo was stupid as hell. like they were funny and all but the meta humor was so out of place it took me out of the moment. if i were a kid watching this and i didn’t recognize those people i’d be confused. …they did have cool outfits though.
- ok. can’t wait for part 2. i will wait as long as i need to for it to be Good

Reworking Noob
Inspired by this post by @crossyyt. Saying what we're all thinking, Number One Fan was a lackluster episode despite the fact that it furthered what little overarching plot we managed to get out of the end of Season 2.
And it's because of this guy.

Gifs from this post by @atmosiacyclonia
Yeah, Noob. "The fan", and the writers' way of making jabs at both the fanbase and the industry as a whole apparently. Kind of entertaining on a first watch, especially over a decade after the show has ended, but looking at it critically...
He's just kind of a nothing character overall. We didn't need him to get involved in the quest for Warp crystals, he doesn't add anything to the story, he doesn't leave any meaningful impact on the story and yet he gets frozen in the prison crystal in Cyclonia Rising. Anyone could've been in his place and not much would've changed overall.
But I'm a believer that all characters have a use, you just need to find one for them. Noob didn't have much potential, but the potential that he did have feels wasted.
So let's see how he could've been put to better use.
TL;DR: I put him on the reserve team that was mentioned in Talon Academy and then never brought up again. Alternatively he could be a relative of Dark Ace.
Edit: I hit post on this too soon, added more thoughts as soon as I realised this wasn't in my drafts anymore.
First off: remove the meta commentary aspect. Poking fun at fans is bad form and commentary on real-life merch production in a fantasy setting like this is, in my opinion, nonsensical and makes my worldbuilding brain itch.
Second: Let's take a look at this kid's design.
When did y'all notice that Noob has black hair
and red eyes?
I only noticed a year ago.
Remind you of someone?
Allow me to freak out a bit, because
This can't have been an accident, right? What was the intent behind it? As far as I've noticed, these are the only two characters with this specific colouring. What was Nerd Corps trying to tell us??
Ok, freakout over. What are our options?
Noob and Dark Ace are related, and Noob's obsession with the Storm Hawks comes from knowing that he had a relative who was part of the old team.
Possible, but considering how quickly Noob bounced from being a Storm Hawks fan to an Absolute Zeroes fan, I don't think it's likely. If that is the case, then a rewrite of the episode would be needed to show a little bit more loyalty from Noob. I don't know about everyone else, but the jump from one fanbase to another feels like a pattern of behaviour in my opinion. He rotates through special interests on the regular. Nothing against that in a real-life context, but it feels like another mean-spirited jab at fans.
Meta commentary aside, Noob could be rewritten to be a fan of the original Storm Hawks because of this potential relation to them. It'd give us something close to a "real" origins episode if Noob was given a chance to infodump about his old idols. Maybe he dislikes the new team for being "inauthentic", or he doesn't care all that much about them, he's just interested in the Condor; a crucial piece of Storm Hawks history.
As for Dark Ace? Noob could either be unaware that the copilot he might be related to was a traitor (possibly indicating that the Sky Knights tried to cover up the traitor aspect), or he rejects the copilot out of disgust. He's just a traitorous Cyclonian after all and fodder for an identity crisis in Noob if he was anything close to a main character.
In short: Noob could've been used as an exposition device.
Option 2, and my personal take on how Noob can be made useful:
Rewrite him in full and give him a touch more screen time. Put him in Talon Academy for a scene or two, and then have him beg to join the reserve team that Aerrow suggested to Lynn. "Number One Fan" makes good on this suggestion and is about the whole reserve team, not just Noob.
I see this as a two birds, one stone solution. Noob gets to be useful, keeps his character trait as a mega-fan of the Storm Hawks, and that loose end from Talon Academy gets tied up somewhat. As much as I love the show, its episodic writing lead to quite a bit of disappointment. But it just means we get to play with all the elements like dolls.
Let him be an exposition piece for the world in regards to sky knight merchandise, but have it make sense in the context of Atmos. If he really is the only Storm Hawks fan out there (which I find doubtful), why are action figures of the team being made without the Hawks knowing? Either all his figures be handmade, or repurposed from existing figures of more popular teams like the Rex Guardians. Or hell, keep the joke that there aren't any Piper dolls in production, but have it be due to resource scarcity brought in by the war. Or Cyclonis bought every single Piper doll to use as target practise for whatever machine or weapon she's working on.
As I said above, let him be from the Talon Academy. Have him be so enamoured with the Hawks' takedown of this Cyclonian institution that he latched onto them as heroes and then got wrapped up in war propaganda in his efforts to become their number one fan. He's obviously a good few years younger than the team, so have his understanding of the war be incredibly shallow, and maybe give him an arc where he learns from that.
I was going to add more to this a lot more but a misclick or some kind of tumblr goof caused this to he published half-finished instead of saving it to my drafts, so eventually I'll make another post elaborating on these ideas. For now though I'm curious to see what everyone thinks, and their own takes on Noob. Is he a waste of screen time? Did you guys scrap him in your AUs? Did yall forget about him? Let me know.

Hi, hi! I hope everyone is doing well. 😊
I want to go over some housekeeping stuff. I'm extremely long winded sadly when I don't need to be so I put the more detailed version below the cut. This post will go over the results of two of the polls I did recently and what they mean for this blog.
TLDR: The light novel content AND Burn the Witch will be added into the mix of stuff I will write for.
To begin with, as I've stated in my introduction post and even written in my bio and pinned post, this is a Bleach fanfic blog. When I was making this blog and the pseud on AO3 I did so with the anime and manga only in mind. The intention has always been to write Bleach fics to
Keep this fandom from dying. When I originally made this blog back in December/January-ish there were only a small handful of writers actively writing for this series. (Luckily, it seems things are changing with more and more people coming in and posting their works. Thank you so much to everyone who writes for Bleach and also those who read it!! It's been awesome to see change happening.)
To possibly/attempt to add diversity into the pre-existing fic pool. I am one of those—what feels like—rare people who doesn't like reading and writing NSFW works all the time. Not to say those are bad. I too love to indulge in those here and there. I just like to read more plot heavy stuff or just straight up no plot, all fluff and those feel harder to find for Bleach. Maybe I'm blind. I don't know. Throw your plot heavy fics at me. I'll eat them up right now. Additionally, I want to write for those who don't get a lot of love from the fandom. I'm doing a terrible job so far but the Kenpachi and Shunsui brainrot is so bad rn.
And that is still the case!
Really, I got to thinking when I started playing Brave Souls again and pulled Soya Azashiro. He's such a beautiful character and I knew he was from the light novels. I did some searching online and found ways to read them. While I haven't read them yet, I do know a bit about Azashiro and know of some other characters that are only in the light novels. They looked interesting enough and thus this poll was born.
With my brain already thinking about other possibilities for this blog, I started thinking about Burn the Witch since it's set in the same universe as Bleach. And did a poll for it as well. Which leads us to the point of this post.
What do the results of these polls mean?
Regarding the Light Novel: Hardly anyone said no to the light novel characters being written so they will will be added into the rotation of characters I will regularly write for AFTER I read the novels. Which will be soon.
Regarding Burn the Witch: Burn the Witch will also be added into the rotation too BUT with the condition that it won't be a regular occurrence. There was less interest in BTW comparatively. It will have it's own masterlist and probably will have a fic posted once every few months. Enough to where fics are being posted for those who are interested but not enough to flood anyone's feed who is disinterested in it and follows for Bleach posts.
When will these additions go into effect? Probably sometime after the summer. I have a huge backlog of fics I need to finish so it will be a little while before I start writing anything related to these.
If you have any ideas or characters you would like to see let me know! I am not taking requests, but if you want to share anything you'd like to see I'm down to hear you out at least. 😊 I'm easily influenced so if you're excited about a certain idea, you'll probably get me excited about it too.
That is all! Thank you for reading! ❤️

Hello! I am OK1610 from ao3. I loved Riddle V.I.Z.ion so much! Such an amazing story with great characters! I loved the aliens especially! Your story inspired me to weave my own tale for these characters as well as a design element for Diz (the support beams) for my refs of the aliens (credited in the post)! I cannot wait to read more about them and their pasts!
Any chance we can get a little sneak peak of what is to come?
('Riddle Classified' sounds like a great name btw!)
Hello!! Lovely to see you again!
Literally had to spin in circles at work when you said my story inspired you, was not prepared; I’m honoured <3 and I hope you have fun creating! You art is so perfect!!! I love how the style is still reminiscent of the game art but far more detailed and much more fun to look at—it’s so vibrant! They’re all super adorable (rotating Quiz in my mind rn) and it looks like such a sweet AU—I’m an absolute sucker for stories where things end well (which I don’t think anyone would guess from my own works XD.) Would be super intrigued to know more when you’re ready to share!
(Definite spoilers for my future Riddle School fic below the cut!)
Dutifully adding a tally to Riddle Classified’s column! I swear the title is going to be the bit I decide last with this thing, it’s certainly giving me the most trouble XD
As for sneak peaks, hmmm; it’s a little early in the process for me to feel like I’ve got much that’s actually interesting to share, but I could tell you about the first chapter? It’s post defection, a few years into the V.I.Z.ion Project, and involves Quiz being kidnapped by bounty hunters/pirates. He has to stall for time, turning them against each other as a distraction, while Viz and Diz sneak around and kill off the people stationed at other outposts before picking him up.
It’s told from the perspective of the pirates, who really have no idea who or what Quiz is, and is set in a snowstorm to really play up a theme of isolation/being trapped. Horror movie vibes. They know something is going on outside, and they know their contacts are going cold one by one, but they can’t figure out why—maybe it’s just the storm like their leader says, maybe it’s something else. They’re stuck with this unknown alien who’s sounding way too plausible when he says the roof might cave in, or there’s something outside, who talks them into telling him the scary stories they’ve heard about rogue soldiers in the area. If they go outside and try to run, they’ll definitely die of exposure, but if they stay? Unclear. And surely nothing out there could be alive. The noises are the wind, just the wind, they’re not in danger, nothing’s getting closer, everything’s fine.
It’s a good opportunity to play with Quiz’s unique skill set of appearing very harmless to manipulate people, gives me the chance to do some exposition on the alien’s species lore, and—most vitally—sets a pretty sinister tone for the V.I.Z.ion crew actually in action! A good jumping off point for what’s to come!
Another chapter I’ve got planned as a definite inclusion (though I don’t know where it’ll go yet; probably late in the collection) is them kidnapping Phil. It’s from Phil’s perspective, and I’ve honestly just been galaxy braining over it for a few nights now; he just barely escapes them when they see him first (runs through populated places they can’t follow, gets on a bus, his dog attacks Quiz when he gets home) and then spends the next few days as Dib from Invader Zim trying to convince his family that Aliens Are Definitely Real And Also After Him. They don’t believe him. One night he wakes up to find that everyone else is knocked out, and the aliens are in the house searching for him. He doesn’t get away this time. Very stressful times for Phil—I don’t think I’ve ever written a non-stressful time for Phil. I don’t think I’ve written a non-stressful time for any of these characters.
With this chapter, I’m hoping to do something with the perspective shift, which is another reason I think it should come late in the formatting. While the aliens are very much villain protagonists in this, having everything be through their eyes will eventually make them familiar—maybe not exactly relatable, but certainly comfortable. The jarring dissonance of exchanging that highly militarised, desensitised perspective to an actually human one—the P.O.V of someone we, the audience, know—when he’s terrified and being hunted by them appeals to me. Particularly as, at that point, I will have written scenes of the V.I.Z.ion aliens interacting with humans from their own perspective, and the difference between what they think and what people think can be thrown into even sharper relief.
I realise I’ve told you about the only two chapters that aren’t from the alien’s direct perspectives, so sorry about that! But I hope they made for a satisfying sneak peak <3 maybe this isn’t what you meant at all… I’ve never actually done a sneak peak before!

what would your ocs be as pokemon? or if you've already done that what would they be as bugsnax??
Oh I have never been asked this publicly before (for I have not been asked... anything publicly before this week LOL) but I don't know if you're prepared for how much I have thought about my ocs as pokemon or how much effort I am currently putting in to... Well. You'll see.
So. I have Thoughts.

Here are my thoughts (names quickly added for this to be understandable by anyone but me. But I've had this image made for quite some time)
(I love that regular wingull appears on here twice. It was kind of the only choice for both of them LOL.)
(also I like how this shows you who my brain considers In A Group with each other... hee hee)
So this is like.. The whole cast of MYMK lmao. Even down to background characters. These are like... PMD style pokemon assignments. I tried to balance "literally looks like them" with "has the right vibes, thematically". So you can see a couple thematic pairs of pokemon like the cherrims, meowstics and such. Then other fun picks like Charizard for Hainu, since he's a, well, hypebeast more than he is a person. Then, Markus and MacGuffin get Silvally and Type: Null for (wink) reasons.... And Miao is Marowak because don't even worry about it. Lupus is Lycanroc-Dusk because funny doggy shounen protagonist :)
Also there are ABSOLUTELY pokemon that fit Tabitha better than Persian does but I've been saying hes one of those since 2015 and I'm attatched to it now.....
The reason I went ahead and planned these out and finalised these recently though.... Is because I also assigned them all ideal ribbons/marks/pokeballs and am going to hunt them all! Right now I'm prioritising getting ones where the ribbons/balls necessitate getting them from gens 4-7, but they're all nearly done and are sitting in ultramoon while I grab the royal master ribbon for a few!
(Obviously I've named pokemon after OCs before but these will be The Definitive Guys... Until next gen inevitably introduces the perfect guy for someone lol. C'est la vie!)
I've got a couple more already in swsh and scvi (recently I caught Lazulite in swsh! Go Raid RNG!) but this is the big first step. As for how many other steps there are....
Don't.
Don't even worry about it.
Anyway! Most of the main characters have fully assigned "if they were a pokemon trainer" Rosters too with some lore. (Chrome does contests, All of Tabitha's pokemon have been gifted to him, Lupus has insane shiny luck, Ali Will Summon Giratina....)
Also! The Alighieri triplets map perfectly onto the shiny meowths! They were the first three I went out of my way to hunt back when I saw shiny G-Meowth and realised!!! Pink Yellow Blue!!! My little guys!!
And lastly the thing you almost certainly weren't asking was "what would your OCs look like if they were fakemon, but I also have that for, you guessed it, Chrome, Tabitha and Ali.
Now... As for bugsnax. I have not played bugsnax but I DO have a resident bugsnax fan... So I asked him out of curiosity and they Extremely Delivered. So, Courtesy of @thebrightesteyes....
(me, going on the wiki for the first time: WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE ARE 112 BUGSNAX I THOUGHT THERE WERE LIKE. 20)

these things are cute i should play this game. i hear there's divorce.
Anyway I've been trying to rotate a PMD AU in my brain for some time now (purrgatorio lends itself well to it, obviously...) I wonder what I'd make the antagonist...
Also, of note. Ali (and their siblings) does actually have a canon favourite pokemon and opinion on pokemon because they're from a real-world setting. Thing is they are like, not a gamer. So...
Ali likes Dusknoir and Seviper because they saw them on trading cards as a kid and likes Hoopa Unbound because Ari showed them on pokemon go knowing they'd like the design. If they gamed though they'd LOVE Giratina but Hoopa would probably stay top spot.
Ari likes Raichu, Lurantis and Toucannon. (Gamer)
Avi likes Clefairy, Meloetta and Brionne. (The kind of person to seek out fanart and gifsets online to reblog)
#love how nobody caught i was autistic as a kid and then i dont even bat an eye at making spreadsheets and doing rng manipulation for my ocs#i tried to keep this shorter because. oh god. oh good lord. as you can see im normal about it#surprisingly though havent drawn them as pokemon in a few years though! i have some unfinished PMD sketches from pre swsh (so no Obstagoon)#but when i do draw them again i want to try and be very on model with my additions + design quirks. as a design excersize....#lucabytetalks#mymk#anyway thanks cecilia for the . burgs
