Elden Ring and Disability
Elden Ring is filled with disabled characters. What I love about the specific way that Elden Ring uses disability, though, is that there is almost always a lore-compliant accommodation provided to the disabled character. This world filled with magic doesn't erase disability, but rather finds magical and lore-compliant ways of accommodating it, much like Star Trek:
Here is some of the disability representation within Elden Ring.
First Generation Albinaurics
First generation albinaurics are synthetic humanoids. Their legs do not function normally, so they are unable to locomote by walking. In the worst cases where no accommodations are provided, we see them crawling to move. But we get two really cool examples of ways to accommodate this disability:
First, we have Latenna the Albinauric. Normally when you summon her as a spirit ash, she functions as a static archer due to the state of her legs. However, if you summon her near a wolf, she will climb onto the wolf and ride it around to avoid enemy attacks and even gains a new attack (freezing mist) with the help of her ride. This puts the onus on you, the player, to make sure that you summon her under accommodating circumstances if you want her to be able to move. And of course, you could also choose not to, accepting her disabled self as-is as a perfectly great battle companion.
You can see a video of the wolf companion in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=st6vGIpsHLs
Second, we have Commander Gaius. Gaius is also a first generation albinauric with non-functional legs. But you'd almost never know without reading his lore or looking closely at his model, because is accommodated. He rides his Battle Tank Boar into your fight and has absolutely no problem wiping the floor with your sorry ass.
In both cases, a support animal functioning as a mobility aid allows the first generation albinaurics to locomote.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella
Malenia is missing some limbs due to the Scarlet Rot infection she was cursed with at birth rotting. She is also blind due to the sickness taking her sight. However, Malenia is still able to fight you (and win and win and win and win and...). There are two accommodations at play, the first of which is canon and the second of which is a canon-compliant fanon.
The first is the prosthetics made by the Shaded Castle. Malenia's iconic blade is physically attached to her arm prosthetic, allowing her to wield it in battle regardless of the lack of (natural) limb.
Fun fact: this is based on a real, historical practice with armor where old armor was recycled into prosthetics! There was even a mercenary famed for using a prosthetic limb to hold his sword after an accident that damaged his arm. You can learn more here (timestamp 16:58): https://youtu.be/PJwNjOvn-Ow?t=1018
The second accommodation that allows Malenia to be battle-functional is the water in her battleground. Because she is blind, she can listen for the player character's movement in the water, responding in a Daredevil-esque way. This is probably helped by the fact that her blade instructor--the blind swordsman named in the Blue Dancer Charm--was also blind and likely taught her how to accommodate that disability.
Millicent
Like her mother Malenia, Millicent is also afflicted by the Scarlet Rot. We find her alone and largely non-functional in the Church of the Plague at the beginning of her questline, writhing in pain. We then bring her the Unalloyed Needle, which keeps the Scarlet Rot at bay, relieving pain and allowing her to travel once more. Toward the end of her questline, Millicent removes the needle, which brings the Rot back in full force and ends her life.
In this way, the Unalloyed Needle functions as a treatment regimen for a chronic illness. It does not cure her, but it keeps the illness in check well enough for her to function.
The fact that Millicent chooses to remove the needle at the end of her quest is Important! Disabled people aren't under any obligation to "meet their potential" or continue treatment because it is convenient for others; if they wish to stop their treatmentâeven to accept palliative careâthat is their right. Anything less disrespects their bodily autonomy and choice to make their own decisions. The fact that we get this representation in Millicent, who actively chooses against continuing her treatment after a certain point, is Good and Important.
And of course, we also provide Millicent with a prosthetic from the Shaded Castle, same as her mother. Once properly accommodated in this way, she can fight by your side as an NPC summon.
Messmer the Impaler
A lot of people speculate that Messmer is blind. This is because his left eye is (as far as we know) permanently shut, while his right eye appears to be a grace-filled synthetic seal rather than an eyeball. It's entirely possible that the grace seal does allow vision, but there are a couple of reasons to consider why it might not:
1) When we first arrive, Messmer is sitting in the dark. You could interpret this as being a Sad, Broody, Wet Blanket (which he is), or you could interpret this as evidence that things like light and dark are of less consequence to him than to a sighted person. Or, you know, both. A Sad, Broody, Blind, Wet Blanket.
2) Shortly after he lights candles--probably for your benefit--he sends one of his snakes into your face. He is able to tell from what the snake sees that you are Tarnished and comments on it. We can tell this means he can see what the snake sees, because he would have to figure this out from looking at your eyes and only the snake is close enough to do so.
This suggests that the snakes function as a remote viewing aid, providing a sight accommodation. And yes, again you could choose to interpret the snakes as existing in addition to a sighted right eye, but it is still interesting to consider what they mean if they are simply Support Noodles.
Ranni and Melina
There is a syndrome in our world called Locked-In Syndrome, in which paralysis prevents the entire body from moving with (usually) the sole exception of the eyes. As a consequence, the disabled person is unable to affect the physical world without help due to an inability to physically interact with the world around them.
Ranni and Melina have a similar situation going on, but with different ways of dealing with it. They are both disembodied spirits, having lost their physical bodies.
Ranni chooses to deal with the problem by incarnating herself into a doll's body at least twice: once as the doll's body we spend most of her quest interacting with, and later as a tiny actual-doll-sized doll that the player can interact with. Essentially, she has given herself a prosthetic that allows her to interact with the physical world once more.
Meanwhile, Melina goes a different route. Rather than incarnate physically, Melina requests that the player character help her reach her goal--the foot of the Erdtree, and then the Forge. In this case, we provide the physical support necessary for Melina to interact with the world, much as support workers do for those unable to care for themselves.
Goldmask
Goldmask never speaks to us in words. Rather, he communicates largely via physical movements. Brother Corhyn, a pupil of Goldmask, refers to his master's communication as "the movement of his finger". When Goldmask stops his movements, Corhyn reacts with distress, "I'm a little shaken since the master ceased his movements." He then proceeds to translate what the movements meant up to that point for us.
The fact that Corhyn is distressed at the master's lack of further communication after his movements cease suggests that this is his *only* mode of communication with him.
This is entirely a canon-compliant headcanon, but I like to believe that this means Goldmask uses sign language that Corhyn is learning to interpret in order to communicate with him. Additionally, the fact that we cannot necessarily interpret it ourselves and must rely on Corhyn to translate means that Corhyn is also acting as a support worker by being Goldmask's translator.
And yes, I think this is largely to poke fun at the Gesture system in the game, but it's also fun disability representation!
This list isn't exhaustive. There are yet other characters that either are disabled or could be easily argued to be so, like Roderika (grief and/or PTSD, given a space to heal and process), Rennala (depression and/or grief, NOT accommodated AFAICT), and Hyetta (blind, accommodated with...uh..."treatments"). But the fact that this post is already over 1400 words and has yet to touch upon all of the disability representation in the game just shows you how much there is.

In January of 2024, Dr. Bara Zuhaili entered Gaza on a two-week medical mission with a U.S.-based organization, Rahma Worldwide. Dr. Zuhaili dedicated most of his time to Shuhada' Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, central Gaza. While this was not his first experience in a wartime or crisis setting â he had undertaken medical missions in Syria and was in southern Turkey during the earthquake â it proved to be his most horrific. As a vascular surgeon, he was tasked with assisting Gazan doctors in one of the ugliest tasks of this war: amputations. A generation of amputees has emerged, with over 10 children losing one or more limbs per day, on average, since the beginning of the war. Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah called it âthe biggest cohort of pediatric amputees in history.â Even this statistic, reported by UNICEF in December of 2023, is now outdated. The true number of men, women, and child amputees remains unknown, with estimates ranging upwards of 10,000 people. It is a number that will continue to rise as new and unknown weapons destroy tissue and bone, crumbling medical infrastructures and scarce supplies force constant life-and-death decisions, while infections and chronic illnesses â largely ignored â silently kill or handicap thousands.
Is this the first time you've worked in a war zone or in a humanitarian crisis? Did any of them prepare you for this? It was not the first time. Unfortunately, I had experience in Syria, working in the underground hospitals in the besieged areas of Aleppo and Idlib. There, the healthcare facilities were also under constant attack by the Syrian regime. But Gaza was unlike anything I had seen before. To start, the supply chain was completely broken. Supplies were extremely limited in Deir Al Balah, where I was based for most of my stay. The hospital functioned at only 5-10% capacity compared to any similar hospital in the Middle EastâI'm not even talking about an American hospital. Then, there were the number of patients. Just to give you an idea: Shuhada' Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah is only equipped for 150 patients. Under extreme circumstances, they could maybe stretch to accommodate up to 200 patients. When I arrived, there were 950 patients, in addition to over 20,000 refugees sleeping in the corridors of the hospital and its complex. Every time we experienced a bombardment, we had anywhere from 20 to 60 patients rushing in simultaneously, in addition to the patients already being treated. It was completely overwhelming and overcrowded. The third issue had to do with the type of injuries. I've seen a lot of trauma before â traumatic injuries are not new to me â but the level of trauma I saw was something I've never witnessed in my entire life. When I was in the operating room, I would get a call from the ER saying someone was shot in the leg and they needed me as soon as possible. In my mind, someone shot in the leg with a bullet would have an entry size of about five to six millimeters and an exit wound size of about two centimeters long. That is what I was familiar with. What I saw in Gaza â which I had never seen before â was literally as if an explosion, an RPG, had exploded into the leg. The entry wound would be about five to 10 centimeters wide and the exit wound would be almost 30 centimeters wide. One bullet would destroy a diameter of 10-15 centimeters⌠all of the muscle, bone, arteries, and nerves were all gone, destroyed.I'm not a military expert, I don't know much about weapons. But I don't know what kind of bullet can cause that much destruction. With a bullet wound in the U.S., I could get away with doing a bypass to salvage the leg. In Gaza, there was nothing anyone could do to salvage the leg. The amount of tissue damage forced me to do amputations almost every single time.Â
Can you describe what a single day would look like? As a rule, anytime a bombardment happened, we would wait between four to eight hours before we received any injured people. In Deir Al-Balah, we would see the missile hitting two to three kilometers away and we knew that there were many casualties, but it would take these people â who were only three kilometers away from us â four to eight hours to reach our location. The IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces) prevented any ambulances from entering the scene, and anyone attempting to help or approach would be shot. I had many cases where the ambulance driver would come to me holding two or three kids. They were dead, and he would swear to me they were alive four hours ago. We lost a lot of lives just waiting to reach us in the hospital. Our days typically began around seven in the morning, and even though the night was filled with attacks and bombardments, no casualties would reach us before the morning. By then, we would go to the ER and try to start the triage process: determining who needs to go to the OR first and who could afford to wait. We would then perform surgeries throughout the day, often not finishing until one or two in the morning. Sometimes, if I had time, I would do my rounds to check on the patients, and by late afternoon, we would have more bombardments and injuries coming in until midnight. Usually, by midnight, things slowed down⌠not because there was no bombardment, but because they couldn't reach us anymore.

Could you do a fic of a reader with chronic pain x Spencer Reid? Please just fluff and maybe angst but obviously it's totally up to you. I've been having a few flare ups recently and it sucks ass.
Maybe Spencer like low key just makes them rest all day even though they want to help out with a case?
Love your writing btw! :)
French press coffee[s.r]
Spencer insist you take a break despite your insistence
WARNINGS- mentions of chronic illness symptoms,
Spencer Reid x gn!reader ][ fluff/hurt comfort ][ masterlist!!
a/n- The reader is implied to have chronic fatigue, or something similar but let me know if anything is inaccurate!
1.3k
You couldn't hold back a grimace when you finally reached a standing position after much effort. The pain radiated through the rest of your body, making it hard to function, not to mention the fog blanketing your brain.Â
But before you could even think about how to deal with the flare up, you dreadedly remembered you had work today. Well you had work (almost) everyday.
This meant walking to the train station with spencer. Then taking the 45 minute train ride, with Spencer. And then you and Spencer could finally get to work, only to then fly to god knows where and profile serial killers.
You internally sighed. You were in for a long day. But you couldn't let Spencer know that- or he would make you stay home from work like the wonderful boyfriend he was.
So you instead crept quietly out the door, wincing when it cracked slightly. As soon as you slipped through the door your shoulders relaxed and you padded into the kitchen to start coffee.
Or at least you tried to, but you were slowed down by the intense ache radiating in waves. Usually the pain was bearable, of course with the help of your accommodations, at home and at work- but not today. When you finally made it to the kitchen counter, you grabbed the kettle and started boiling water for the necessary caffeine.
Just because Spencer will accept any coffee, doesn't mean he isn't the eensiest bit a coffee nerd. He especially had a sweet spot for French press coffee.Â
Spencer felt the first sip was just that much more satisfying when you had to work a little bit for it.Â
Despite his wet noodle type physicality, he still always pushed his whole weight down on the pump. He would feel it slowly sink under his gaze and he would smile slightly.Â
You smiled at this thought as you sank down into one of the chairs sitting around the kitchen table.Â
But the smile faded as soon as it had placed itself on your lips when your mind came back to the pain aching through your body and fog coating your mind.
The whistling of the kettle woke Spencer, his face scrunching up at the unpleasant noise. With the hope of finding the source and stopping it. When your sleepy boyfriend broached the kitchen, he found you slightly hunched over the kitchen table in a chair.
but when you heard Spencer come in you stayed hunched until Spencer called your name and you perked up, noticing the boiling pot.Â
Spencer noticed your expression flicker when you stood up, and took note of that and the fact that you didn't notice the kettle boiling at first. Spencer could read you like a book, and right then- you were saying you were in pain. Well Spencer had to read between the lines, but he was just as good at that.Â
âGood morning my love,â Spencer mumbled into your shoulder, as he had now wrapped his arms around your waist while you poured the steaming water into the large canister.Â
you just so conveniently turned around to greet spencer just before you got to the step of pushing down on the pump, spencer took a note of this as well.Â
âgood morningâ but this time the smile actually reached your eyes when you spoke, Spencer always brightening your mood. you even forgot the pain for a brief moment when he pressed a soft kiss on your lips, your eyes easily drooping closed. But when he pulled away to finish the coffee, not commenting on your casual avoidance of the physical exertion portion of the process, reality came back harshly.Â
You took this opportunity to sit down, closing your eyes and sighing for a moment at being off your feet. Again, Spencer noted this to himself.Â
A couple minutes later, he approached you quietly, two mugs in hand. One was black with at least a couple tablespoons of sugar, and the other with just an average amount of cream and sugar.Â
Spencer pressed one into your eagerly awaiting hands, and the other onto the table while he put the coffee grounds away.
You could feel your boyfriend watching you carefully ever since he entered. Not only was he a profiler, but so were you. Although both of you knew he was watching, and the other knew, neither said anything. It was like an odd competition of who would bring it up first, you or him.
He won. âHow's you feeling today?â Spencer spoke with a casual tone but the question held weight. the weight of the whole morning that had come before.
you smiled weakly as a response and shrugged, saying â not too bad, i'll just bring my cane,â you tried to sound casual but Spencer could see right through you.Â
He threw a knowing look, his eyes holding empathy. You couldn't meet his gaze. âAngel-â Spencer couldn't get the rest of the sentence out before you interrupted firmly. âNo- I'm going to work. We have cases, people need us.â You had a determined look on your face, you were always stubborn.Â
Spencer thought this to himself as his gaze softened, a sympathetic look creeping up. Â âHoney, you need to take care of yourself, it's okay to not go to work for one day. You'll be better help with the case when your not in pain and your more clear headed-â
You found it hard to argue, stuttering a bit before huffing and saying âbut the team needs meâŚâ your argument was meek, as you had essentially already accepted defeat.Â
Your disagreement made Spencer furrow his eyebrows, causing the familiar worry crease between the two form.
Though it was hard for Spencer to stay mad at you, especially when you looked so sweet like that. Sat at the kitchen table, a warm mug of coffee cupped between your hands, your hair a mess from sleep.Â
there was still a substantial amount of coffee left in your mug. You had forgotten it for arguing with your boyfriend.
Spencer Instead pushed himself up from his chair with a heave, making his way to you a couple steps away.Â
He reached out a hand. A compromise. You took it silently in surrender to Spencer's insistence. Although you didn't say anything Spencer could tell you were slightly embarrassed at needing to take a break.Â
He offered a small squeeze of your hand as reassurance, hoping to provide some comfort.Â
Spencer used his hold on your hand to lead you to your shared bedroom. He left a chaste kiss on your lips and left you to get ready.Â
He instead used the time to call your boss and explain the situation. You could vaguely hear Spencer speaking to someone on the phone as you pulled out some of your (Spencer's) most well worn lounge wear.Â
âHey Hotch, ya, ya- oh really- are you sure?â You could only hear Spencer's side of the conversation as you entered the living room with your cane in hand.Â
Spencer threw you a smile as you walked up to him, taking his cheek in your palm and placing a soft kiss.Â
Once Spencer hung up the phone, he explained that Hotch had told him that it was mostly a paperwork day. This meant Spencer could stay home with you all day(as the workaholic he was he always brought his paperwork home anyways).
Despite having woken up not more than an hour ago, you were ready to sink into the couch, resting your cane against the side.
You weren't really listening to what Spencer was saying very well as the fog was growing thick in your mind.Â
Spencer almost immediately noticed, and sat down next to you on the couch, pulling you into his side.
You leaned into him, wrapping your arms around his waist and nuzzling into his chest. Spencer placed one arm around your shoulder and used the other to work on some reports.Â
You spent most of the day in his arms, sleeping, or talking with your boyfriend. You tried doing some mission reports but your brain felt like sludge and your muscles ached.Â
But it wasn't as bad, because you had Spencer there with you.

If the boys had a chronically ill mate:
Possibly ooc
David: the minute heâs told (or realizes) Angel is chronically ill he internally panics and frets about them and how they treat themselves and how he treats them. He knows Angel has been living with this for a long time knowingly or not, their usual laidback attitude and usual lack of thought towards how they take care of themselves makes him concerned. Heâll focus more on making sure Angel is accommodated for in the home and they can be as comfortable as possible in their house.
David makes sure Angel is also treated well in day to day life. They come home complaining of how theyâre getting treated or how they have to go into the doctor and how shit the doctor was to them when they told the doctor their problems heâll come in next time as scary dog privilege and back up bullshit detector since unfortunately theyâll listen to him better than Angel. David is also on top of any medications and the conditions and location of possible mobility aids. Angel will never run out of medication or misplace any aids they need. If any of their medications have bad side effects or reactions with Angel Davidâs written it down in detail along with when they started it. Anything needs maintenance or needs to be replaced? Thereâs already an appointment set before Angel can forget or procrastinate about setting one.
Asher: Asher doesnât worry like David, Babe is responsible and has their shit together out of the two and they probably have a steady routine; and despite his goofball, carefree personality heâs extra attentive to Babe once heâs told and help them see the positive side of things. Yeah he might try to get out of things but heâll become their personal runner for anything, heâll even ask David to try and teach him how to cook again so then Babe doesnât have to make meals when theyâre not up to it or has to power through making meals because Asher canât really be trusted in the kitchen. Heâll also move anything around to make things manageable for Babe, heâll also carry them and any mobility aids around if need be any time they ask.
Asher isnât as intimidating as David off of looks alone, he lacks Davidâs murderer face, but he is very much a people person and I think heâs able to guilt trip people very well. Someone talks down to Babe or touches their things he makes the person feel so bad the person canât help but apologize and depending on the situation avoid the two. Heâs also naturally Babeâs biggest hype man, things are getting hard for Babe and he canât do anything? Heâs there encourage them and then comfort them after. Physio? Asherâs right beside them being literal support and not backing out no matter how hard they hold onto him or how much of their weight Babe puts on him. Asher is also great with positive reinforcement, if Babe struggles to take or remember to take pills he has a timer and little treats to make it all worth it and bearable few minutes.
Milo: Sweetheart is pretty self sufficient and tries to work through hell and high water so when they crash, they crash hard. When Milo realizes they have a chronic illness he makes it his mission to alleviate their stress and pain. He knows sweetheart is a workaholic and they are set well in their ways no matter how unhealthy it is. He has pain killers, massages and a good show/movie on hand. Even if Sweetheart tries to keep going despite everything Milo will pull out the big guns: â¨Aggroâ¨. Heâll plop the cat on their lap and sweetheart can help but stay put for as long as possible no matter how frustrating it is to be kept from their work. Milo also makes sure that in sweetheartâs work frenzy they eat well so they donât feel even worse. He has ice packs, heating pads, pain killers and if worst comes to worst his mother to help manage sweetheartâs conditions.
Milo also makes sure he that they keep any mobility aids in arms reach for them. Itâs not that sweetheart doesnât acknowledge that they need them, itâs just that itâs another thing they have to bring with them that they also canât cloak the aid so they try to go for as long as possible without it. Heâll start to nag if theyâre at home and refuse to use it. Milo will also get sweetheart excellent comfy formal wear for work so they donât have to wear anything uncomfortable or if they have braces they can wear them comfortably under their clothes and are able to look fashionable. I feel like sweetheart carries enough respect naturally with their job and just the attitude they have on their own they donât need Miloâs help when it comes to disrespectful people and doctors in the empowered world but both would bounce off each other excellently and damn near kill someone with their words alone.
Sam: in short he is stressed. When Sam finds out Darlin has a chronic illness they shrug it off as ânot that badâ and that âeveryoneâs bodies do this.â that if Sam werenât a vampire and immortal heâd have had so many years taken off his life by the stress of this revelation alone heâd probably be on his deathbed. In the early stages of their relationship Darlin has nothing but a sketchy ziploc bag of Tylenol/Advil and a brace and/or cane from like Walmart. He goes all in looking for their medical history to confirm what they have if itâs there and if they should be on medication and then takes them in to the doctors for various tests whether they think itâs serious or not. Sam is there no questions to make sure Darlin goes to their appointments and he makes sure Darlin gets answers and proper treatments, he is unbelievably persistent and determined to get their health back on track. He is the ultimate mother hen early on and focuses on getting Darlin into better habits while also keeping them safe from their own recklessness.
Sam later in the relationship is far less stressed since Darlin is considerably more stable. He keeps tabs on their medicine still and canât help but monitor their condition just incase they try to hide it again as to try and not worry him. In the rare time that Darlin finally crashes Sam comes in with old man comfort as they sit on the couch under a blanket. He uses his lack of body heat as a human sized ice pack, putting his hands on the areas that ache the most and apply subtle pressure while murmuring affirmations of how theyâre still strong and how he doesnât see them as lesser or love them any less for times like this.
If darlin has a cane and Sam picks it up Fred and bright eyes joke that itâs his now and to not rush his weary old man body and a whole bunch of grandpa jokes.

been a rough week and projection is so in right now so here are the chronically ill skizzpulse headcanons:
â˘Impulse gets pain in his legs and lower back, Skizz gets frequent migraines and back pain
â˘Impulse's flare-ups can get bad to the point where he can't get up to shower or brush his teeth, so Skizz sits with him in bed and carries him to the bathroom every morning
â˘Skizz's pain can spread to his wings sometimes and make it difficult for him to fly or walk. It can be helped by a good preening and massage from Impulse
â˘Impulse switches between knee supports and a cane based on the vibes that day
â˘Skizz has one of those strap-on heatpacks for his back with "Yeah, I'm hot" embroidered on it
â˘Sometimes they both have bad pain days, which puts into motion "Operation Ouchie" (they lay in bed all day and watch anime with no interruptions)
â˘They both have each other's favourite foods / drinks / takeout order memorised for when the other has a bad day and they need to get them a little treat
â˘Impulse's claws massage Skizz is a way that is only rivalled by the gods themselves
â˘If Impulse collapses or is having trouble when out and about, he calls up Skizz who swoops in like a superhero to "be your knight in shining armour!" and fly him home
â˘Impulse plays with Skizz's hair when he has a migraine
â˘Skizz is the most dramatic man ever. When Impulse isn't doing well, he becomes his personal assistant and talks to the other hermits for him like a security guard ("Nope, Impulse cannot help you with redstone today, for he has been ordered a day-long dose of Sleepy Relaxing")
â˘Impulse loves giving Skizz little presents when he's having a flare-up: buying him food, getting him plushies, just spoiling him rotten
â˘Impulse crushes up Skizz's pain medication into a yogurt so that he'll take it with no complaints
â˘When Skizz gets a migraine, he effectively makes his bed into a nest of pillows, blankets, plushies, and heat pads, for him to just collapse into with the lights off
â˘Impulse has a shower seat, and Skizz keeps coming over just to use it because he thinks it's nice (and to use Impulse's shampoo)
â˘They always accommodate each other with ease and love each other <3

Hiii! I love you blog so much!! Could you by chance do a Carlisle Cullen where heâs the readerâs caregiver? Lots of snuggles and some comforting reassurance for mental health struggles? Thank youđĽşđ
Cg!Carlisle Cullen x little!human!reader
Headcannons
Contains: established relationship, CG/l dynamics, littlespace, Carlisle being the best, fluff
Carlisle would be the best caregiver for a chronically ill little honestly.
Heâd use his position as a doctor to get you actually diagnosed and get you the accommodations you need.
He also justâŚ. Loves to spoil his loved ones.
I could absolutely see him âprescribingâ his little one regression time just because he can tell theyâre overwhelmed and not doing great.
Is the best ever sippy-cup refiller. Keeps you hydrated even if you wonât do it yourself.
Very supportive of your clinginess. Literally will get a comfy pull-out couch for you in his work office for when you need him extra bad that day.
Gives those good, firm hugs where he rubs your back a little bit.
Fully supports you sitting on his lap for cuddles if you need it.
Keeps you fed on a schedule
This man buys you things just because he forgets you can buy things yourself
I think Carlisle would rather be called Papa than daddy imho
Carlisle is the type of caregiver to zip your coat for you if he thinks itâs cold
Also always holds your hand when going places
He really enjoys slow, comfy days in with you

Hi there! I'm working on a modern supernatural story, and I've got a side character (the main character's best friend) who deals with chronic fatigue syndrome. He's a sweet, goofy, confident guy, and he has friends who are happy to change plans to accommodate him when he has flare-ups. They'll also help him out with chores or errands when he needs, with his consent. Naturally he gets bummed about his condition from time to time, but he's accepted that it's how he lives and with the help of therapy he's found ways to manage it. He also has plenty of hobbies and interests and grievances outside of his condition.
My question is this: I have a side-plot where the characters learn that a vampire has been feeding off him for weeks without his knowing, most likely using some kind of hypnotism. I'm wondering if the effects of consistent blood loss - fatigue, headaches, dizziness, etc - could reasonably be chalked up to a particularly bad CFS flare-up. Or would that be something where it's more likely he would notice the difference in severity of his symptoms and realize something else was wrong? Assuming the vampire can heal up any bite marks he leaves.
For the sake of clarity, he's had CFS most of his life and I'm taking care to avoid implying that it has anything to do with the vampire attacks. I'm just wondering if his symptoms would help hide the feedings or not.
Thank you!
The short answer: absolutely yes, this seems like it could be chalked up to a bad flare-up.
The long answer: I'm going to use the CDC's description of CFS/ME to lay out pretty exactly why it would work for both you and anyone wondering why exactly it would work.
A list of symptoms from the CDC has 3 core and 2 that you only need 1 out of 2 symptoms to have CFS.
Core: Lowered ability to do usual activities due to fatigue [that is not relieved by sleep/rest] that wouldn't have been an issue before illness
Core: Post-exertional malaise (PEM), which is a worsening of symptoms after physical or mental activity that wouldn't have been an issue before illness. Often described as a 'crash' and can include feeling dizzy, having difficulty thinking, headaches, or feeling ill. It can take days, months, or longer to recover from a crash and it's hard to predict how long a crash will last or what will cause it.
Core: Sleeping problesms; even a full night's sleep doesn't help symptoms much and might not help at all. Might have trouble falling or staying asleep.
Other: Problems with thinking and memory, like 'brain fog' or slowed thinking or trouble remembering things or paying attention.
Other: Orthostatic intolerance, meaning that symptoms can get worse while standing up. This can make people feel lightheaded, dizzy, weak or even faint.
I've bolded the symptoms on the list that match your stated symptoms of vampiric blood loss: "fatigue, headaches, dizziness, etc." and as you can see they match up pretty exactly!
Your character could perhaps do something that required a decent amount of mental or physical extertion, and perhaps it did or didn't cause a crash but at around the same time the vampire could have started to feed off of him. This might seem to prolong the 'crash' and your character might not think twice about it, just realize that they're feeling pretty miserable in a way not unknown to them.
I hope this helped!
PS, I really enjoy modern supernatural stories, and if you ever feel like sharing it I'd love to read this.

okay hmm quiet metal gear disability thoughts now. specifically quiet, dignity of risk & the right to refuse treatment. major spoilers for tpp ahead!!!!
i do consider quiet to be a textually disabled character primarily because of the english language parasite infection. you can, and i in fact will, make the argument that needing accommodations for how her body physically works post-burn trauma counts as disability, but on its own it wouldn't be enough for me to say so emphatically that Quiet Is A Disabled Character. but having a chronic illness that she refuses treatment for because the cost of the treatment is too great is a CLASSIC and incredibly common disability story and weaves it incontrovertibly into her narrative as a whole.
and the way this interacts with quiets choice to live with the infection by not speaking english, is so great juxtaposed with code talker (himself disabled and dinĂŠ) asking her in dinĂŠ bizaad if she speaks it, and her responding in the affirmative being the reveal that quiet is herself also dinĂŠ (quiet not being dinĂŠ is, while technically textually possible, not actually supported by the text). the scene ends with quiet telling him she was infected with the parasite but hasn't spoken english to infect anyone on motherbase, and repeating, "and i never will. i never will."
so she chooses to live with it, and the way that venom accommodates her is extremely similar to what he does with kaz-- aside from the direct parallel of rescuing kaz and later rescuing quiet in very similar ways at contrasting points in the narrative, you see a lot of venom communicating wordlessly with them both; he leans in close to kaz so kaz can see or feel him, his first impulse is to speak to quiet wordlessly through touch/looks/gestures... i feel like this is highlighted by how kaz, my best beloved bitter hypocrite, is like (paraphrased) "she doesn't talk! how could you communicate in the field?!" and venom looks at quiet and they visibly, silently exchange a thousand words. i can't get into that more rn bc it would derail the post from quiet but theres a LOT going on there w/kaz and disability, and kaz and quiet.
and similarly getting too deep into the theme of language in tpp is also beyond the scope of this post, it would derail it even more. BUT LIKE in a lot of code talkers tapes you do hear him talking about, like... being taken away to one of those assimilation schools and that being part of why he developed the language parasites the way he did. and in another he speculates that quiet refused the treatment bc she wanted to keep the possibility of revenge but considering that she is a disabled indigenous woman, and that the parasites are repeatedly referred to in terms of ethnic cleansing, and the treatment for the parasite infection does make you infertile, i would argue that the text is not necessarily presenting code talker as exclusively correct here; there is another glaringly obvious reason why quiet might have chosen not to undergo the treatment.
so instead she chooses to live with it, and all its drawbacks, including requiring accommodation for it; she chooses to put up with kazs suspicion without explaining herself; she lives with the risk that came with an active infestation; she chooses to leave when it mutates further and puts people at risk. and when venom comes to rescue her she chooses to put her own life at risk to save his by choosing to break her vow and speak english. (also, side note, Jesus Christ but vquiet is so fucking beautiful. venom saving her and getting bitten by the decoy snake in the process....! good lord. who is doing it like them.) dignity of risk is crucial to this story -- none of this would have happened if she had Simply Accepted The Cure, but shes... really not presented as being in the wrong for choosing not to. that was her decision, and she deserved the choice to make it. when her tape opens "i did not choose to be Quiet," it delves into her choices. yes, the desire for vengeance brought her to this place. yes, it pains her that they don't "share a common tongue." but also, she has made the choice to disavow vengeance, to "choose the language of gratitude," and to her that means returning to her vow of silence. this is the dignity of risk.
i do have more thoughts on this, particularly elaborating on what dignity of risk is and why its so important to the narrative of tpp, and want to come back and elaborate on this more, but im just gonna hit send for now, just... quiet đĽ°

I know people have mentioned how Ghost Cole can be seen as a metaphor for depresssion (or just. Go hand in hand with it.) but have we considered Ghost Cole as a metaphor for just. Disorders/disabilities/chronic illness in general?
Like ok specifically disorders that you gain rather than ones youâre born with. A lot of disorders and disabilities actually tend to develop during your late teens to early 20s (although I believe thereâs genetic risk factors for a lot of them) Which. Would be the rough age of the ninja during S5. Aka around the age range Cole is when he gets ghosted.
And!!! A lot of people need to come to terms with it when they become disabled!!! Even with disorders so many of them can be so debilitating that you canât perform a lot of actions you used to be able to do, especially if you have such a rare or misunderstood disorder, or an often overlooked part of a disorder that, say, you donât have easy access to any of the necessary information you need to manage the symptoms / accommodate you and need to figure it all out yourselfâŚ. Like the way Cole struggles to do even âsimpleâ things like touch or hold objects and needs to figure out how to work around that by himself because they donât have any sort of knowledge on ghosts. And the way that sometimes gets in the way of him helping his friends and he feels the need to apologize when he canât grab their hand during situations. And the way the others are trying to figure out how to approach the situation and accommodate him or what types of jokes heâs comfortable with.
Or when you have an extremely stigmatized disorder that youâre scared people will hate you for. Like. Like the way people are afraid of gho-
(Iâm saying all of this as someone with early onset OCD)
Anyways my point is I think ghost cole can actually work for a lot more than just depression I think we could extend it to a lot of things actually.
(also yes thereâs the whole him becoming human thing being able to be read as a magic cure for disability when you think of it this way but. Depression is also a chronic illness. And counts as a disorder. So.) (also Iâm in charge of canon here and i choose to say that never happened and even if it did he still has tons of side effects and issues he needs to deal with for the rest of his life)
#ninjago#ninjago cole#cole ninjago#lego ninjago#ghost cole#cookieâs thoughts#ninjago headcanons#headcanons#yes this is me projecting#Kinda I already project my OCD onto Nya but like#Idk I donât think ghost Cole just applies to depression I think you can apply it to a lot of things#I still loathe how canon butchered ghost Cole thoughâŚ.#Also anyone whoâs ableist on this post will swiftly get their comments deleted im not standing for that#Feel free to add on btw#Aaaa ghost Cole had so much potentialâŚ.#I need to stop thinking abt him Iâm gonna go into a ghost Cole hyperfixation again if I think abt him too much

hi I saw your masterpost and was wondering if you could write Micah Yujin x reader who suffers from asthma?? I donât know if requests are open and Iâm so sorry if they arenât, no pressure at all
Sure! I personally don't have asthma, so I'm sorry if these aren't necessarily the most accurate. Most of my research for these things comes from Mayo Clinic and the NIH. I also went to the ACAAI for this one. These will be headcanons because they weren't specified, but if you want a short fic you can ask!
TW: Asthma Attacks, Hacking, Invasion of Privacy/Stalking
Micah Yujin with a Reader who has Asthma:
⢠He's a smart man. I mean, he literally found your address by hacking into your personal information. So, the chances are, he probably knows that you have asthma. Not only that, but what type of asthma you have, any allergies you have, what medication you take... you get the gist. The only problem he may have is knowing what exactly your condition may cause.
⢠Yes, most everybody knows asthma can cause shortness of breath and asthma attacks, but not everybody really knows the less noticable symptoms, or what to do during an asthma attack. That's not going to stop him from trying his best to learn! He's pretty internet savvy, so he knows where to look. Though, those pesky research papers have a bunch of medical terms he doesn't understand... What the hell is an etiology, or a toxicokinetic? He's probably looking at papers that are high above his medical knowledge or reading level.
⢠When the two of you finally end up meeting face to face, he's absolutely ecstatic! He also tries his best to accommodate for you in certain scenarios. If the two of you decide to go on a hike or walk, he'll try to go slower for you so you don't overexert yourself. If your asthma is triggered by certain dusts or allergens, he'll be keeping a sharp eye out for them to steer you away from it. He may seem to be extremely overprotective and worried about it, and he really is! He wants to protect you, but he's also painfully aware that he can't really do so when it's a chronic illness...
⢠If you ever end up having an asthma attack with him nearby, his first step is to internally panic. Yes, he knows what to do, but he's also terrified that it might not work. However, he'll help you sit down, use your inhaler if you have one, and get you to a safe place. All while he's internally telling himself stupid jokes to keep himself calm, and telling you words of affirmation to keep you calm. As much as he'd love to tell you the jokes he thinks of, he doesn't want to make you laugh or frustrate you while you're having difficulties breathing. Humor tends to calm him down when upset, but he knows others might get angry and think he's not taking the situation seriously. He'll tell you them after your attack passes, and you've calmed down, if you want.
⢠Micah is going to let you cuddle one of his dinosaurs, afterwards. If you aren't allergic to cats, he'll also let you cuddle Skrunkly. If you are, though, he'll put her into a different room for you, and vacuum the room after she's out.
⢠He's the type to completely forget about your asthma until you actually have a problem. Not necessarily in the sense that he'd forget to avoid your triggers. No, he'll remember them, and help you avoid them. It's more like it is second nature to him, now, and he doesn't think of your asthma as being "asthma". It's almost like he's forgotten that not everyone has the "smaller" symptoms, like coughing or slight wheezing while laughing... And that may or may not be because you're one of the few people he actually talks to. So, any small symptoms are seen as just normal, then whenever you have bigger, more serious problems related to your asthma, he'll suddenly remember that "Oh, yeah, you have asthma- OH SHIT-!" and begin panicking, because said "more serious problems" that most likely will make him actively think about your asthma are probably asthma attacks or extreme coughing fits.
⢠He's probably going to have a miniature checklist written down on things to bring with him whenever he's going somewhere with you. He's already been bringing a mini first aid kit with him just because it's useful, but now he's bringing a separate kit with your emergency inhaler and any medications you might need to take in an emergency, as well as a thermos of a warm, caffeinated beverage to drink if you don't have or use an inhaler. He saw somewhere online that caffeinated, warm drinks can help open the airways a little bit, so it wouldn't hurt to try.
⢠He's going to obsessively check in on the latest news considering research regarding asthma. Any new, scientifically backed tips and tricks on how to help ease the symptoms will be relayed to you.
⢠Also, is your medication too expensive? How about he just pays for it! He'll find a way to get the money! He can hack into a few places to... "borrow" a few dollars for it. Or a few thousand... Or million... No price is too high for your comfort!
⢠If you couldn't tell, Micah probably will be a bit overly anxious, at first. However, once he calms down and actually gets used to living or being around someone who has asthma, he calms down. It's all second nature for him at some point, and he's no longer actively thinking about it. From then on, it's all just a regular relationship! Or, at least, as regular of a relationship as you can have with an obsessive hacker that is probably stalking you... It's to protect you, he promises.

thank you @tolkien-fantasy we hope you like your match ups <3
if anyone else wants a personalized fic this is our ko-fi
your bg3 match up is....
HALSIN!!!
SFW
How you met: Halsin was taking a walk through his neighbourhood when your gorgeous garden caught his eye. He was entranced. Never had he seen natureâs bounty bless a land so thoroughly. You caught the man looming over a lovely flower bush. You debated calling the police but settled on walking over to him and cheerfully greeting him good morning. Halsin smiled warmly, and began complimenting your garden. You were happy to share a few techniques with him and invited him inside for tea. He was charmed by your love for nature and wisdom, and started showing up more and more often to chat with you with the excuse of admiring your garden.
In terms of gifts, Halsin would never buy you flowers, only seeds so you could plant them. He would often get you books that he thought you would like or reminded him of you.
Since you are 4â10 Halsin would often accidentally almost step on you. He would be very apologetic about it though. Thanks to his size you would also end up calling him over to reach the top shelves in your house or the grocery store. Sometimes instead of getting you the item himself, he would just pick you up so that you could reach it yourself.Â
Both of you being incredibly wise, would never have fights as a couple. All your couples friends would come to you for advice.Â
Halsin is the type of person to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the world around him (including you <3). Your dates would involve long walks in parks and cute picnics. He would make you delicious sandwiches and other baked goods, though they would all probably be vegan.
Halsin respects your work as a death doula since over his 400 year lifespan he has come to appreciate the circle of life. He is always there to offer you support and be a calming presence when things get a little too overwhelming.
Halsin is Oak Daddy and he would often end up somehow unofficially adopting some children who would follow him around. He loves watching you interact with the kids, watching them be put to ease by your bubbly, cheerful and friendly personality the same way he was.
Halsin will never make fun of you or tease you since you donât like that. Besides, he prefers cracking dad jokes.
He likes engaging in different parts of nature with you. Exploring the lands of Faerun, and trying different activities to interact with the nature. If yâall ever go fishing heâs gonna make this stupid joke: âWhat do librarians take fishing? Bookworms.â
Heâd be very gentle and caring when it comes to your chronic illnesses. Halsin being a powerul and wise druid would know some possible cures or spells to alleviate the pain. He also has a wide network which heâd use for this cause.
NSFW
Halsin is very gentle and uses his years of wisdom and experience to find new sex positions to accommodate your physical illnesses. Â
Everytime you go off on tangents about things you have learned from books, Halsin gets horny, he canât help it. Of course he admires your intelligence, but he also canât stop imagining how itâd feel to pull his cock out and stuff your mouth with it.Â
Because of the height difference, Halsin does have a bit of a size kink. He likes overshadowing your smaller frame with his large body. Heâd also love to try standing positions like you giving him a blowie while standing.
Your physical affections are very much encouraged by Halsin. He loves the feel of your arms and lips on his body. Often his mind is filled with innocent love, some other times his mind wanders and he presses your body back against a wall and grabs your ass.Â
Halsin has intense animal urges, he growls and grunts. Grits his teeth, as he would hold you by the back of your neck tightly and look into your eyes. His desperation visible as his cock would throb to be released against his pants.
Halsin likes to overstimulate you, he loves to pump you till you are scratching his back or pulling on his hair. âBy Oak Father's blessings, you are beautiful like this. Cum for me,â he would say, while he watches you squirm.
He enjoys slow sex too, he would ask to make love to you. He would fuck you side ways so he can kiss you while cuddling and holding you in his arms.Â
Halsin picks you up over his shoulder as he would smack your ass cheek and kiss your hips. He would carry you to the bedroom and lay you down gently before playing with your clit while kissing you deeply. You can heel his muscles, and pecks move up and down against your body as his breathing gets heavy.
Sometimes he would like to watch you get undressed or touch yourself as he rubs his cock and strokes it up and down. He will ask you to clean his precum off his red tip before continuing masturbating for you.
Halsin would cook for you after sex, something to get you feeling less tired and energetic again. He would also like to feed you playfully by keeping food on his muscles or taking a bite by keeping small foods on your breasts and licking them off.
your beach waves,

Disability pride request? Two characters of your choice hanging out, maybe one using two forearm crutches and one using two canes. They can be friends or partners - I just generally love seeing disabled characters interactng with one another!
How about three disabled characters?
Once upon a time @camille-lachenille sent me a prompt about MĂriel having Ehler-Danlos Syndrome. I had already sketched a disabled Celegorm with EDS in mind and, thinking about how it's genetic, had an epiphany about Celebrimbor (and the meaning of his name) and I drew him as well. So I wrote a fic about all three of them dealing with chronic pain, but I still hadn't drawn MĂriel. That oversight is now fixed!
They have more in common than just chronic illness xD.
This is still titled "The EDS gang" in my files, I'm going to stick to it. Set sometime in Fourth Age Valinor, when most things are good again...
Disabled Tolkien characters series
(Feel free to send me more disability prompts! I love drawing them.)
More ramblings about disability aids that devolved into bullet-point headcanons under the cut. ID and transcription at the end, but they're also in alt text.
[CW: this is all fairly light but discussion of death and trauma and you know, everything that comes with these three.]
I do not know how to make comics. I'm sure that's very obvious but, you know, learning new things and all that. One thing I learned was that my usual style of rendering does not work with it as well so I rendered them entirely twice.
It was meant to be day 21 and 22 of my October challenge, because surely I can draw and colour a full page in a day (spoilers: no). In the end it was a combined 15 hours of work over 3 and a half days because I made it as complicated as I possibly could đ Still, I had fun and learned a lot.
Note: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is a connective tissue disorder, affecting basically how your cells are glued together. There are a lot of different symptoms (and different types of EDS) but a frequent one is joint pain and hypermobility, and it's at least partly inherited.
MĂriel:
Red was MĂriel's colour first. She's not into gaudy things and rarely wears vivid colours, but almost always something red. She barely wears any jewellery since reembodiment, mostly for sensory reason (She is very autistic. That's something she gave FĂŤanor, Curufin, Caranthir, Ambarussa and Celebrimbor, at least.)
She died of post-partum (and general) depression and energy depletion from childbirth or something, but the chronic illness that was taking all of her energy and keeping her from her craft certainly didn't help.
Also pregnancy was horribly rough on her, partly because EDS can be affected by hormonal changes.
She's actually been better since reembodiment, because she has better accommodations (FinwĂŤ did his best but he was very lost) and also a Vala on hand who makes her very good painkilling tea.
She wears knitted compression gloves that she designed to help with hand pains.
Her wheelchair is of Noldor make, but I'm sure Celebrimbor will have suggestions for improving it.
The tapestry that she is weaving is actually this painting of Finrod that I did a while ago. I figure that she's representing calmer, nicer things now that she doesn't have to weave her grandchildren's downfall and deaths.
Celegorm:
He was in a relationship with OromĂŤ before the Exile. After his reembodiment, it took them a while by they talked it out and forgave each other. OromĂŤ doesn't quite get elves, but he's really supportive.
He has a pair of wolf-head canes carved by Nerdanel. He alternatively uses both, just one and sometimes none depending on activity/pain level.
He wears bandages as compression garments because this is a world without elastane. His leggings have reinforced knees for support.
He's always heard about MĂriel having the same thing as he does from FinwĂŤ, and he knew that when he started showing symptoms, FĂŤanor was terrified that he'd fade too. So for a long time, MĂriel's story was kind of hanging above his head.
That's why it takes him a while to go seek her out after he's reembodied. Celebrimbor understands why it's important to him and he pushed him to it a little bit, so Celegorm dragged him along.
They're going to get along great. MĂriel is both the quintessential grandmother and also she has a twisted sense of humour that Celegorm will just love.
Celebrimbor:
Celegorm was always his favourite uncle, and they became very close when Celebrimbor started having symptoms in the early years in Exile, and Celegorm stayed with Curufin in Himlad for him.
It took Celebrimbor a while to forgive him after Returning (not as long as Curufin but still) but they've gone back to being really close.
He was really unlucky with reembodiment: while he wasn't reborn with the physical aspect of his torture, the memory of pain and the trauma made his chronic pain a lot worse than it was before, and he can no longer walk unaided.
He designed the silver ring and wrist splints back in Eregion with Narvi's help, and ended up literally living up to his name (which means "silver fist/grasping hand").
Paradoxically these were a great motivation for him to work through his trauma and go back to the forge, because he couldn't find a silversmith in Valinor who could make good enough ones for him, even with all of his sketches and specifications.
A lot of his work since reembodiment has been designing and making disability aids for people.
He uses platform crutches to spare his hands as much as possible. He invented and designed them, of course, as well as the KAFO brace that he wears here. He's also a part-time wheelchair user.
He is still wearing dwarven beads in his hair. He obviously didn't bring anything back from Middle-Earth but he asked Gimli to make them for him in remembrance of Narvi. His tunic is also dwarven-inspired.
He is pretty chill about Sauron here. I don't know if there was a redemption (I have feelings about @chthonion's The Harrowing and @mynameisjessejk's Otter Mayhem) or if he's just been through enough elf-therapy to be able to joke about it. Celegorm's sense of humour is just Like That.
Celegorm and Celebrimbor are about to try VairĂŤ's special painkilling tea for the first time đ
Between all of them they should really open a disability aids shop or something. They just might! MĂriel doesn't really ever leave VairĂŤ's house but I think Celegorm and Celebrimbor will keep visiting her a lot, and eventually all of the grandkids will as well.
Image description and transcriptions:
Two digital comic book pages.
Image 1: The first case takes the whole width, showing two pairs of feet with each two canes/crutches on a tiled floor, with a speech bubble saying "Do you think she'll want to see us?"
The second line has two cases in 2/3 and 1/3 format. The first shows two hands in red fingerless gloves working on a tapestry on a loom. The second shows part of a light-skinned face in profile, with curly white hair. Three speech bubbles say "My love?" "Um?" "There are people here asking for you."
The bottom part has one case off-center showing the same hand undoing the brake of a wheelchair, with a speech bubble saying "Your grandson and your great-grandson." above and one saying "I'll be right here." below. Then a full-length off-case portrait of MirĂel, a light-skinned elf with shoulder-length curly white sitting in a wheelchair and pushing herself. She's wearing a pale pink embroidered dress with red accents, red fingerless gloves and elbow pad and brown boots and smiling.
Image 2: A single large case shows two elves standing in a room with a tiled floor, with a large door and two tables behind them. There are thread spools on one table and a tea set on the other. One elf, Celebrimbor, is brown-skinned and slightly chubby, with long black hair in a braided bun, wearing a red tunic and dark green pants. He is leaning on two decorated platform combo crutches made of wood and metal, with a KAFO brace on his leg. He wears finger and hand silver splints. The other elf, Celegorm, is pale and has long white hair in a high ponytail with small braids, he has tattoos on his neck and arms and he wears bandages on his shoulders, elbows and wrist. He wears a green tunic, leggings and wrap-around gaiters. He is leaning on a cane and holding up another cane, pointing at the first elf. Both canes have handles carved in the shape of wolf heads.
The speech bubbles are arranged around and below them, giving this dialogue, with the speakers distinguished by the shape of the bubble (the parts in parentheses are smaller text in the bubbles):
Celegorm: "My lady, my name is Tyelkormo, and this is my nephew TyelpĂŤ." MirĂel: "I know who you are, my wonderful children. Come sit." Celebrimbor: "That would be nice, thank you." MirĂel: "VairĂŤ, my love, would you make us some tea?" Celebrimbor: "My lady!" Celegorm: "A Vala who can make tea! (I could never get OromĂŤ to do it.)" MirĂel: "It was a long domestication process." VairĂŤ (off screen): "Hey!" Celebrimbor: "Instant hot water! Thatâs nice. (I wonder if I could replicate that.)" MirĂel: "She makes wonderful hot water bottles." Celegorm: "OromĂŤ just uses his hands as hot pads." Celebrimbor: "Ew, I didnât need to know that." Celegorm: "What? Just because your Maia burns everything he touchesâ" Celebrimbor: "Shut up." MirĂel: "You must both tell me everything about yourself. And your partners!"

Bsd disability week: Chronic Illness
Chuuya headcanons
Chuuya has Chronic Pain from corruption wearing down his body, it started around age 15 and has slowly been getting worse.
He has bad flare ups for around a week after using corruption but it never goes away fully. He has a lot of braces and age bandages to help support his joints. Dazai helps him during his flare ups when he can, when they were younger Chuuya was scared to ask him for help but it's gotten easier for him as time went on. Chuuya has very bad internalized ableism because he has a tendency to overwork himself and feels working defines his worth.
Chuuya sometimes uses a cane to help take pressure off his body. He mainly uses it when alone or with close friends (Dazai, Kouyou). He has charms on the cane and it's a very pretty red & black geometric design.
.
.
.
Kunikida headcanons
Ever since the helicopter incident, kunikida has had hand pain & hand mobility issues. He has some ring splints, and sometimes he types up some of his paperwork because holding a pen for too long is painful
It was really hard for him to accept at first, since writing is such a big part of his ability, job, and identity. Dazai & Yosano let him talk to them about it, and he slowly found it easier to accommodate himself without feeling ashamed

You know what, I'm making The Post.
Disability parallels in Carry On and why they matter
We know Simon's wings and tail are a metaphor for his queerness, but what about the disability parallels? The disability parallels in Simon's wings and tail, in Baz's vampirism, in Simon losing his magic.
Simon's wings and tail make life difficult for him. When he wears clothing at all, he has to either accommodate his wings and tail or deal with crushing them under clothing. Crushing them and that extra pressure can hurt like hell and really distract you, but having to constantly worry about accommodating yourself is also a huge pain. It takes a long time--learning to accommodate yourself and your disabilities in a world that just doesn't want to let you.
I'm pro-Simon keeping his wings and tail for this reason.
Baz's vampirism, while a metaphor for queerness, is also a metaphor for chronic illnesses. I don't have a chronic illness myself, so I can't really speak to this one, but it's still important to talk about the parallel. He has dietary accommodations he needs to survive, and not many people around him willing to accommodate that because of fear and prejudice.
As for Baz's leg... Oh, I'm so sick of the abled healing the disabled narrative. Let Baz be disabled. Let him have a fucked-up leg and use a posh cane. Let Simon and Baz be disabled boyfriends together.
Simon's magic is a whole other can of worms to open, but @messofthejess opened it this morning and I'm crawling through the unpleasant sliminess with them.
Simon losing his magic is an important disability parallel. He's had magic his entire life--had magic as a part of his body his entire life, even if he hated it the whole time--and now that part of himself, of his identity, is gone. Who is he without his magic? Who is he when the world he lives in revolves around and caters to people with magic? Who is he when people won't slow down to match the pace he's going at when he can no longer keep up?
Simon has to learn to live without his magic. Because as @ebbpettier said, tape exists. And sometimes wanting to go back to the way things were means you never move forward or grow. Because things will never go back to the way they were, too much has happened. You can never go back. Sometimes growing means letting go.
There are people who will accommodate Simon. He'll find his people. We all will. It'll be rough, it'll be hard, it'll take literal blood and sweat and an ocean of tears, but he'll get there.
These disability parallels are important and I think they should be talked about more.
#i'm disabled and have THOUGHTS#fuck it i am throwing them out there#the disability parallels are too important#the queer parallels are talked about a lot but the disability parallels are just... left behind#fandom is for disabled people too#carry on#baz pitch#simon snow#snowbaz#meta

Caught Between
Pairings: Poly!marauders x disabled!reader Summary: You prepare for a batch of muggle medical appointments. You're dreading it. Warnings: Chronic illness, references to inadequate medical care, references to medical appointments, emotional angst Note: I imagine the wizarding medical side of things is a little sucky, purely because there are less of them than of muggles and not really that advanced, and while I appreciate the NHS, it is not built for the complex. Series Masterlist | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
You sit on the edge of your bed, your fingers tracing over the worn leather handles of your small overnight bag. The folds of your muggle clothes are pressed neatly against one another, a stark contrast to the storm brewing inside you. James, Sirius, and Remus surround you, their expressions mirroring the worry etched into your features.
The dull ache that has become a constant companion in your body throbs with persistence, grounding you in the reality of your situation. It's coupled today with a sinking feeling in your chestâa reminder that while Hogwarts is home, it cannot entirely shelter you from the world beyond its stone walls. Despite the magic that flows through its every crevice, there are limits to what it can mend or heal.
The wizarding world has been accommodating, even helpful at times, able to soothe some aspects of your chronic pain with charms and potions. But for othersâconditions like epilepsy, low blood pressure, cerebral palsyâit falls short. These are realms that even the most skilled Healers have yet to grasp fully, where the line between magic and medicine blurs, leaving gaps only Muggle doctors can fill.
"Are you sure you've got everything, Y/N?" James's voice cuts through the heavy silence, pulling your attention away from the bag at your feet. He crouches down beside it, his hands making quick work of the clasps as he peers inside.
His fingers brush against the neatly folded clothes and toiletries before moving on to the small compartments where you've tucked away necessitiesâmedication, a water bottle, a list of emergency contact details. Nothing escapes his thorough inspection; every item is checked off mentally, ensuring you're prepared for any eventuality. It's typical of James, always thinking ahead, planning for outcomes others might overlook.
Sirius perches on the edge of the bed next to you, his shoulder brushing against yours in a silent show of solidarity. "I've been trying to learn some Muggle medical terms," he announces with a grin that doesn't quite reach his eyes. "You know, so I won't look like a complete dunderhead at your appointments once we're out of this school."
Despite the gravity of the situation, laughter bubbles up within you, breaking free in a soft chuckle, "I appreciate it."
Across the room, Remus stands by the door, his arms crossed over his chest. His gaze never strays far from you, watching, waiting, understanding. He knows what it's like to bear pain that magic can't touch, the silent battles fought behind closed doors. But unlike him, you have no transformation to dread or anticipateâyour struggle is constant, woven into the very fabric of your existence.
While Sirius fills the air with jokes and exaggerated tales of Muggle medicine, Remus stays quiet, offering support without words. His presence alone speaks volumesâa steady anchor amidst the storm.
The bond between you four has been strong for years, even before you got together, but moments like these reveal its depth. Each one plays their part: James with his practicality, Sirius with his levity, and Remus with his quiet empathy. Together, they form a shield around you, bolstering your courage as you prepare to leave the castle walls behindâfor however brief a time.
Remus moves away from the door, crossing the room to join the rest of you. His hand rests lightly on your shoulder, a silent promise that whatever comes, you won't face it alone.
"Let's get this over with." You pull on your jacket, the fabric stiff against your skin. Your nerves buzz beneath the surface, a reminder of the uncertainty that lies ahead. The thought of another round of appointments, of hospitals and sterile white rooms, weighs heavily in your stomach.
For years now, you've been caught between two worldsâshuffled back and forth between Muggle doctors and wizard Healers, neither side able to fully understand or diagnose the symptoms you're dealing with. They started subtly enough, creeping up on you, and at first, you brushed them off, thinking it's just an extension of your other conditions, but they soon revealed themselves to be unrelated.
Each appointment is the same. There's always the initial hope, the desperate wish that maybe this time will be different. Maybe this doctor will have answers, will finally give a name to the invisible monster that's taken up residence inside your body.
But then comes the inevitable letdownâthe puzzled looks, the furrowed brows, the shaking heads as test after test comes back inconclusive. Each one chips away at your resolve, leaving you feeling more lost than before. And when the Muggle doctors can do no more, they pass you back to the wizarding world like a hot potato, hoping someone else can solve the riddle.
You've seen it all, endured every poke and prod, swallowed countless pills and potionsâall for naught. Still, you press on, because what other choice do you have?
Now, here you are again, preparing to step outside the safety of Hogwarts' walls into a world that feels increasingly foreign and hostile. The dread has settled into your bones, heavy as lead. But you square your shoulders, steel yourself for whatever comes next.
"Ready?" James asks, his hand outstretched toward you.
"As I'll ever be." You reach for him, your grip finding purchase on his forearm as he helps lift you from the bed. Sirius and Remus are there too, their arms forming a cradle that eases the transition into your wheelchair. You donât need the help, but you know it makes them feel good, so you let them have it this time.
With a final pat to your shoulder, James steps back, allowing Sirius to take over the task of pushing your chair. Together, you leave the dormitory behind, navigating the winding corridors towards Professor McGonagall's office. The castle is quiet, its inhabitants either tucked away in classrooms or absorbed in their own thoughts, oblivious to the gravity of your departure.
The light-hearted banter between the boys fills the silence, effectively masking the tension that underlies each word. They tease, joke, argue about Quidditch statsâanything to keep the mood from becoming too sombre. And though you remain mostly silent, their effort doesn't go unnoticed; it's a lifeline amidst the storm brewing ahead.
The door to Professor McGonagall's office looms before you, the carved stonework a stark reminder of the trials that lie ahead. The air grows tense as your friends come to a stop, their playful banter fading into silence. Even Sirius seems lost for words, his usual bravado replaced by a quiet intensity.
"Alright," James says, breaking the silence. His voice is steady, but you can see the worry etched in the lines of his face. "Remember, we love you."
You nod, appreciating the sentiment even though it does little to ease the knot in your stomach. It's not just about getting through these appointmentsâit's the fear of returning more frustrated and confused than before; it's the dread of being handed off to yet another doctor who might look at you with the same baffled expression.
James steps forward, his hand reaching out to brush a loose strand of hair from your face. His fingers linger longer than necessary, tracing the curve of your cheek with a tenderness that belies his usually boisterous nature. He leans down, pressing his lips to yoursâa kiss filled with unspoken promises and reassurances.
His grin falters slightly when he pulls away, the corners of his mouth twitching with uncertainty. But there's something else in his gazeâsomething that makes you believe, if only for a moment, that everything will be alright. Itâs a silent echo of the confidence he exudes, an assurance that no matter what happens next, you wonât be alone.
"Speaking of love..." Sirius begins, a mischievous glint in his eye. He steps around the chair to stand in front of you, his hands resting on your knees.
You raise an eyebrow, bracing yourself for whatever he has planned. Despite the heaviness of the moment, Sirius always manages to find a way to lighten the mood. It's part of what makes him so endearing, why people can't help but be drawn to his magnetic personalityâeven when he's causing all sorts of trouble.
Sirius' fingers glide up your arms until they cup your face, his thumbs tracing gentle circles against your skin. "Just remember," he says, leaning down until his forehead rests against yours, "when you get back, I'll have the perfect plan cooked up to distract you from all this medical nonsense."
He pulls away just enough to let his grey eyes meet yours, and for a second, everything else fades into the background. There's only Siriusâhis warmth, his steadiness, his unwavering faith in youâand it's enough to make you forget about the world beyond these walls, if only for a fleeting moment.
And then, with a quickness that leaves you breathless, he leans in and places a light kiss on the tip of your nose. It's playful yet there's something more behind it now: a promise of companionship, of shared laughter and brighter days ahead.
A laugh bubbles up from your chest, surprising even you. The tension eases from your shoulders as you reach up to swat at him playfully. "You're ridiculous," you tell him, though the smile tugging at your lips betrays your fondness.
"That's why you love me," he counters, grinning wide. His hand moves to squeeze yours one last time before he steps back, allowing Remus to close the distance between you.
Remus is quiet, contemplativeâa stark contrast to Sirius' buoyant energy. Yet, there's a strength in his silence, a calming presence that anchors you amidst the chaos of your thoughts. He doesn't say anything, not yet; instead, he reaches out, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder in a silent show of support.
"You know we'll be waiting, right?" he finally says, his voice barely above a whisper. It's not a question, but rather a statement of factâone that carries the weight of their collective resolve.
"I know." Your response is equally soft, laden with gratitude for friends who've become so much more than that. You draw in a deep breath, letting it fill your lungs before releasing it slowly, each exhale carrying away a sliver of your anxiety.
Remus reaches down, his fingers brushing lightly against the side of your face. His touch is soft, almost hesitantâas if he's afraid to cause you any more pain than you're already in. But there's a purpose behind his movements, a silent promise that he won't let you face this on your own.
He leans closer, his breath warm against your skin. "We love you," he murmurs, repeating Jamesâs words, before kissing you, his lips moving over yours in a slow, sweet rhythm that steals away what little resistance you have left. Every beat of your heart seems to echo the sentiment, pounding out a steady refrain: You're not alone. You're not alone.
His hand rests at the back of your neck, offering both support and comfort. It's a simple gesture, but one that speaks volumes about the depth of his concern for you. And despite the storm raging within, you find yourself leaning into the contact, drawing strength from its unspoken reassurances.
Unlike James or Sirius, there's no rush in Remus's actions. Instead, he takes his time, each movement measured and deliberate. It's as though he wants to etch every second into memory, to weave a tangible thread of connection between you that will endure whatever trials lie ahead.
When he finally pulls back, there's a look of quiet determination in his eyesâa reflection of the resolve that has carried him through some of life's harshest battles. He brushes a thumb across your cheek, tracing the path of a tear before cupping your face once more.
"You'll get through this," he says, holding your gaze. There's no hint of doubt in his tone, only the unwavering certainty that comes from someone who knows all too well the power of perseverance. And suddenly, you want nothing more than to believe himâto cast aside your fears and trust in the hope that shines so brightly in his eyes.
As you step into Professor McGonagall's office together, the boys' faces are a study in forced nonchalance. The lines around their eyes betray their worry, though they try to mask it with smiles that don't quite reach their eyes.
"Miss Y/L/N," McGonagall greets you, her voice steady despite the gravity of the situation. "Are you ready?"
"As I'll ever be." Your response is automatic, but your heart beats frantically against your ribs as she presents the Portkeyâa small, nondescript object that belies its extraordinary purpose.
There's a moment of hesitation then, as if the universe itself is holding its breath before the inevitable. Then James steps forward, his glasses slightly askew, and pulls you into a hug that feels like home. His hand rests on the back of your head, fingers curling in your hair.
"Take care, love," he whispers against your ear, his voice barely audible. "You're stronger than you think."
Next is Sirius, his embrace fierce and protective, and he kisses your forehead, a silent promise etched in the lines of his face.
"We've got your back, no matter what," he murmurs, his breath warm on your skin. "Remember that."
Remus is last, his arms encircling you gently, almost hesitantly. There's a sadness in his eyes that mirrors your own, a shared understanding of the darkness ahead. But his touch is steady, grounding you in the present.
"Be safe," he says quietly, his lips brushing your temple. "We'll be waiting."
With every second, the reality of your departure sinks deeper, until itâs a heavy stone lodged firmly in your chest. You look at the Portkey again, feeling a strange sense of dread creeping over you. It seems so harmless, just another piece of bric-a-brac cluttering the professor's desk, but you know betterâyou know the power it holds.
The room falls silent as you extend your hand towards the Portkey. Your fingers hover above it, trembling slightly, before finally closing around the cool metal. McGonagall also touches it, and for a split second, nothing happensâand then the world spins out from under you.

Hello! Could you write headcanons for the four dragons with a female s/o who is sick and how they would go about taking care of her?
Hello Anon! Thanks for sending this in when you did! I'm so sorry about the long wait. Every time I get requests about the dragons fretting about their s/o for any reason, I get so excited because they're all very cute (and maybe even cuter when they worry)
These might be reminiscent of my injured s/o HCs with Jaeha and Kija as the topic of discussion is somewhat similar! (ailed s/o with dragons caring for them)
I also happened to fall sick while working on this LMAO, but side note: using my platform to say please mask up when you go about your day! Masking is a way to protect yourself and your community members, especially those at risk/who suffer chronic conditions due to or not due to the novel COVID-19 virusâ the pandemic is not over!
Pronouns for this ask will be she/her as used by anon!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kija
Kija is a member number 1 of the overprotective squad. He already wishes to treat you delicately under normal circumstances, so if ailment befalls you, you can bet that protective nature will flare up more. He makes sure you're in bed and resting no matter what you say and takes care of all of your chores for you.
Much like he would in my injured s/o HCs, Kija would want to be as knowledgable as he could be about your illness and would ask Yun questions about your condition, unusually attentive and serious while taking the info in.
He's very worried about you! It agonizes him to see you suffer headaches or sore throatsâ anything that your illness inflicts on you, he would take in your stead and he would often voice this to you at your bedside.
He'd help you eat and feed you without question, and maybe even force feed you before Yun tells him not to bother you too much in case you're suffering from headache/unable to stomach anything, but of course you make sure he knows his intentions are appreciated.
I don't know what to call this factor; something like this applies to all the dragons in different ways, so I'll tell you how I think they'd go about processing and expressing this: Kija is ecstatic he gets to take care of you. He thinks it ill-hearted on his part to be happy about your unfortunate state, but really, he's just happy to be at your service in any way he can. Your being sick only increases the opportunities for him to show you how much he loves you and how much he cares.
Shinah
Shinah is member number 2 of the overprotective squad. He'd go to great lengths to make sure you're well-accommodated and ask Ao to be with you at times he may have to leave your side. He gives you his fluffy coat of fur and braves the cold without it because he thinks you need it much, much, much more than he does.
He sends you glares if you try to be proactive. He really really wants you to rest because Yun advised it and said it would go away faster if you slept and ate and don't overexert yourself.
While he's out in the field and happens upon some wildflowers and thinks of you, he may hear from Yona or Zeno that he could give them to you as a get-well-soon gift. Even though it's a form of courtesy, he wants to believe that it's like a prayer for you to get well soon and thinks it will help you fight your illness.
He always keeps an eye on you. Every time you run out of water, Shinah would make sure to fetch some more for you. You don't even have to askâ if he sees that your cup is empty, he'll be right back with it full. Even at night, if he happens to be on night guard duty, he'll care for you all the same.
I don't know what to call this factor; something like this applies to all the dragons in different ways, so I'll tell you how I think they'd go about processing and expressing this: Shinah loves taking care of you. He feels like he's doing something good and that makes him feel good and worthy. He has a bit of a hard time expressing his feelings for you in words, so in some ways similar to Kija, Shinah would take this time to make sure you're well-taken care of because he wants you to know how much you mean to him. He really, really wants you to get better.
Jaeha
While you're sick, Jaeha often teases you with things like feeding you dinner and saying that you must've gotten sick so he can dote on you, or hoping that he'll catch your illness and be in bed with you, but he's actually really careful (worried) and observant of your state and wants to make sure you're comfortable.
As always, he cares much more than he lets on, and does things for you outside of the periphery of you and the group. Once he's caught, he plays it cool (like he always does) and keeps going about his day doing things for you.
While you're sleeping, he'd often sit there and watch your peaceful expression. If you have fever, he'd be there to change out the wet towel on your forehead, but he's otherwise there just watching you. When someone else walks in on him, he's unusually startledâ I'll let you decipher why on your own. :) (spoiler: he's embarrassed for no reason and gets more embarrassed because he felt embarrassed but he plays it coolâ it's complicated. TLDR Jaeha's silly but we already know that.)
Generally, Jaeha may tease you but his true feelings can be gleaned from how he blows on the steaming porridge in your spoon and the way he pulls the covers over you when you lay down.
I don't know how to word this factor; something like this applies to all the dragons in different ways, so I'll tell you how I think they'd go about processing and expressing this: Jaeha secretly loves the intimacy of being at your side and having you rely on him. He'd be quite open about how he's loving it (it'd come off a bit teasing and as typically non-betraying-his-feelings as Jaeha can get), but there's a deeper emotion that he's feeling while he goes through the motions of taking care of you that he wants to keep all to himself.
Zeno
When you're sick, Zeno already knows the motions of caring for you pretty well. He's his usual cheery self and his sunny disposition almost cheers your recovery on like a cheerleader.
Outside of caring for you, Zeno likes picking flowers as get-well-soon gifts. He likes to tell you all about the shenanigans of the group that you may have missed in your time resting, and his lips stretch into that heart-wrenching smile of his as he watches you giggle about how silly the group can be.
Zeno sticks by you the most out of the three dragons. Because he's immune to illness and fatigue, Yun trusts him to look after you the most while he may have his hands tied with other chores. Because of his inability to feel fatigue, Zeno also rests by you while you sleep despite your many demands for him to get some sleep. "Zeno doesn't need sleep, so you rest well, Y/N." You can hear his care in the way your name rolls off his tongue despite his infrequent use of it.
When he feeds you, he lightly brushes his lips against the spoon to make sure it's just the right temperature.
I don't know what to call this factor; something like this applies to all the dragons in different ways, so I'll tell you how I think they'd go about processing and expressing this: He finds your sick state incredibly endearingâ it evokes a lot of memories for him that are bittersweet but nevertheless precious. He knows your pain will only be temporary and takes each action he takes to care for you with a profound contentedness and hope that he'll see you bounce back within a few weeks' time.
