HELLO, and Welcome to my World
Tumblr media
Hi, I'm Percy Jackson… But you probably already knew that…
I am 17 years old
My amazing mother is Sally Jackson. You probably must have heard stories of her delicious blue chocolate chip cookies.
My Godly parent? Gods, you must be new… I'm Poseidon's bastard son… And, apparently, I have a debt to pay for being born… isn't that awesome? /sarc
My pronouns are he/they/blue! I'm biromantic and demisexual!
Tumblr media
Powers: Awesome water powers, and I can't get wet even after I get out of water; unless I will myself to of course! I can also talk to horses! I mostly talk to Blackjack though... he's easier to talk to, even if he insists on constantly calling me Boss.  I used to have the Curse of Achilles; but since something happened, I don’t have it anymore…I have more powers, I guess, but it’s not important!
Likes: my mom’s blue chocolate chip cookies (I mean, who doesn’t?), my mom, of course and my friends! Blue food, of course, we can’t forget that. The feeling of the waves washing over my feet as I stay standing between the sand and the sea.
Dislikes: my old step-dad, (we don't talk about Bruno, guys... We don't talk about Bruno). Getting up early, I am not an early riser. Like, at all. Panda plushie killers... I do not like you guys (/hj).
Fears: (TW: mentioned drowning!) Hmmm, why would you want to know that? I'm kidding! It's fine! If I were to be honest, I'd say drowning. I know, I know... Kinda dumb for Poseidon's kid. But, trust me, if you'd been through what I've been through, you'd be scared of drowning too.

Fandoms who can interact:
PJO/HOO/TOA (have not finished tsats nor the new pjo books)
BSD (mostly for my friends; I don't know anything about it tho)
The Kane Chronicles (I am at book two, but I can manage!)
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard (did not finish either, but I can manage)
Winx Club (if you guys exist I would love to!)
MHA (technically up to date but no?)
One Piece (why not? It'd be fun!)
MORE TO BE ADDED!!!

Adventures of Chika Hanabusa: The Restoration of Earth
Disclaimer: This book follows the events of Percy Jackson and Heros of Olympus fanfic, this fanfic will not include Trails of Apollo, The Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase.
Chapter 2: Training
Chika PoV
We have been up in the sky for 3 hours. Reyna is pretty good at riding a Pegasus, she must have ride it to battle at times.
"So, Dad, are you going back to the farm once we made it to camp Jupiter and where did you put all of the stuff?" I asked him while he sat behind me.
He showed me a tiny green pouch, "This tiny green pouch contains all of the stuff and it is magical. Your recruiter, Reyna, says that it was created by the children of Vulcan and Trivia respectively. I will probably go back to the farm; I can take the bus to get home. I will Iris Message you once I get back." He says as he opens the pouch the shows a golden light, I can see all of my clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, books, and other stuff all in that tiny pouch.
"Thank you, Reyna, for helping me out with the Giants. Sorry, I wasn't much help." I say as I rub the back of my head and close my eyes for a bit.
“You weren’t bad Chika; you did well against the giants. Your father trained you well. Later in the day, do you want to spar?” Reyna asked as she looked at me with her eyes. Woah her eyes are intense, it’s like she is challenging me in a fight.
“Sure, I don’t spar for a bit. How close are we to Camp Jupiter?” I asked with uncertainty.
Reyna smiles in a teasing, lighthearted way, and says "We are only a minute away from the camp." As she finished her sentence, the white pegasus landed at the front of the Caldecott maintenance service tunnel and then the white pegasus started running into the tunnel. Dang this horse is crazy. As the pegasus ran, suddenly the tunnel led to the area that shows the status of different gods.
“Welcome to the Temple Hall, where we go to sacrifice and pray to the Gods. But we are supposed to be in New Rome. Someone must have manipulated the tunnels to the Temple Hall" Reyna says as she begins to look around to see if it's trapped by enemies and gripping her sword.
"Relax Praetor, it was I who led you here." Says a lady in a floral dress comes up to us. She has black hair with grains around her hair and warm brown eyes. I know who this woman is.
"Demeter," Father said in shock and all three of us bowed in front of her.
"Ceres, I have brought your Greek daughter to our camp, and I did as you asked," Reyna says in a loud, assertive voice.
"You don't need to call me that now. Don't want to deal with the split personality business again. Thanks to you, the satyr, and the son of Hades, we gods don't have to deal with the crisis anymore. I shall also thank you for bringing my daughter here, I will give Camp Jupiter a good harvest. Isshin and Chika, how was the trip." Demeter says in a soft low tone, her soft tone is how people think Mother Nature sounds like: compassionate, motherly, and full of patience.
“The trip is fine Demeter. Our daughter was about to cheer for her school. As you can see with her wearing her cheer uniform." He points to me wearing my cheer uniform.
"I can tell, daughter I want to see your cheer routine. Do you want to cheer for Mommy?" Mother says with a big warm smile and then she hugs me and kisses me on the cheek like crazy. Reyna looks on with sadness and a little bit of envy. I'm guessing she is not close with her godly parents.
“I will but I did promise Reyna that we will spar for a bit," I say with a shaking voice. I hope I don’t embarrass Mother with my cheer routine.
“It’s ok I can wait; I think it will be more appropriate if you guys’ spar at Bacchus Garden. I will talk to your father, and I can take him to his farm, he doesn't need the bus." Mother says with confidence with abilities. She grabbed my father in a bridal carry while Father blushed, and Mother had a flirty smile.
“Take care daughter and make sure you are safe," Father tells me before he gets transported back to the farm. Reyna takes my hand and leads me to Baccus Garden, it was a long walk.
“Now are you sure you can fight in your cheer uniform?” Reyna questions as she points to me.
“Yeah, I can, I fight in skirts and dresses a lot so it’s no big deal. Anyway, what happened to your pegasus.” I asked while she held her sword against me from a couple of feet.
"Sagittarius moves back into the stable, he is fine. So, are you ready?" Reyna asked in a loud demanding voice.
"I am," I answered calmly while I uncapped my pencil that became a celestial bronze scythe. She ran at me and slashed upward but I blocked it with my scythe. Dang she is strong I thought to myself while she hit me with a barrage of slashes, and I kept on blocking it.
“It seems your father taught you well. You can block me, but let’s if you can handle hand-to-hand combat.” She says as she moves her sword and uses it to drag my scythe out of my hands. She tries to punch me in the face, and I block it. She grabs my hand that I use to block, flips me over into the ground and tries to pin me down. Oh my god, she is on top of me. She's awesome, Chika you must focus I say to myself. I decided to move from the back and decide to try to wrap my legs around her head. Reyna saw what I was trying to do, moved my legs out of her head, and pushed my leg down. I decided to use my hips to push her off me and I finally got on top of her. I decided to use the armbar on her left arm, a move when you wrap both legs around the person's arm and use your hand to push down your opponent's knuckles. She escapes by using her right arm to push my leg apart and she moves over to be on top of my body and cradle pin me to the ground.
“You have some decent ground skills, but it could be better. Anyway, this is just basic training. I’m trying to see how good you are.” Reyna explains as she holds me up.
“You are very good Reyna; I hope I didn’t completely suck. You won our sparring match." I say with a loud voice, a huge smile and my eyes sparkling with excitement like an anime character.
“It’s not about winning; it is about survival. Work on some ground drills and you will be fine. Thank you for sparring with me. I was shocked that Ceres requested me to recruit you. I’m guessing that she wants both of us to go on the quest if that were the case.” Reyna says as we both sit on the ground.
“Thank you, Reyna, for taking the time to take me to Camp Jupiter and for being kind and guiding me on what I need to improve on. I hope I don't sound like a suck-up, but I think you are the best fighter that I know, and I hope we can be friends." I say shaking enthusiastically.
"I know many people in courts who try to suck up to me, but you are not one of them. You are just a grateful person. It was a nice sparring match, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I want to let you know that you are a part of the second cohort. I have one Greek demigod who was part of the fifth cohort and his name was Percy Jackson, you might be the first Greek demigod to be a part of the best cohorts. But enough about that, I do want to see you cheer in this garden along with your mother." Reyna says with a small smirk.
"Thank you for talking about the cohort business and I hope I don't disappoint you with my performance," I say in excitement. Oh my god, she wants to see me cheer I thought to myself. Reyna looks a bit taken back at my squealing but just has an accepting smile. Mother came out of nowhere.
"Lady Ceres, we just finished sparring," Reyna says as she and I bowed in front of my mother. It is odd to see Mother getting bowed to but I guess it's because she’s an Olympian goddess.
"Praetor please stop calling me by my Roman name. Just call me Demeter dear, anyway I can't wait to see my baby cheer. You got your pompoms?" Demeter asked and I nodded yes while I picked up pompoms from the tiny green potch. I move into the center of the garden, and I see Reyna and Mother watching me.
I shook my pompoms and I yelled "Give me a M-O-T-H-E-R" as I moved my arms and pompoms to match the letters I yelled.
"M-O-T-H-E-R" Mother shouts as she claps her hand. I dance by lifting my leg in the high kick and spinning myself with the tip of my shoe. I moved my left leg in front of my right leg, and I did some breakdancing. Once I was done with the dancing part of my routine, I did a split and shook my pompom and I jumped back in front of them in the air and I touched my toes while I was in the air. I did some somersaults and cartwheeling and I feel my body shaken and tired from all of that tumbling. I hold my arms in the arm and shack my pompoms to end my routine. Both Reyna and Demeter clapped while I was finished.
"That was good, sweetie. I will spend about two more days here; I should be able to visit my Roman children. I will tell you about the quest that I want you to do and, I have a secret that I need to share with you as well that I will tell tomorrow. Praetor will you take my daughter to her cohort." Mother says in a hurry for something while she ‘poof’ away. She holds me up and hugs me one last time.
I noticed that the sky was getting darker, I guess it already evening now. Reyna holds my hand and we walk to leave the garden.
"It was a nice routine, I hope you find the second cohort a good place to settle down. I guess Lady Ceres will tell us what she wants to do. I'm happy that Lady Ceres is very loving towards you, not many demigods have that kind of relationship with their godly parents." Reyna says in a low, sad tone. Dang, I bet she's not the only one who has a cold relationship with their godly parents. I'm just fortunate that I have a mother goddess like Demeter as a mom. Speaking of Mother, what secrets does she want to tell me and what is it like to be part of quests? Reyna led me to a pure white building that says Second Cohort in Latin and the letters are gold. The building is comparable to that of a settlement of Roman gladiators or even a military camp because it has ten bunk beds, and the area seems very cramped.
“My name is Hyun Moon and I’m a centurion of the Second Cohort.” A Korean woman with long black hair and green eyes says as she greets us. She was wearing a black dress with floral patterns around the dress. Reyna left us to probably do her praetor duties.
"You're such a cute cheerleader. I bet you would have been a good fighter if you got into this cohort. Anyway, I can't wait to get to know you tomorrow. We should sleep now, here is your bed." Hyun says as she points to the bunker bed.
"And here is the bathroom" as she points to the huge bathroom. I went to the big room. It has many tubs, and showers, and has different sinks. I got out my toothpaste and toothbrush to brush my teeth. Once that was done, I moved to the lower bunk bed and lay down. I feel too tired from the cheer routine and the whole sparring with Reyna, so I begin to close my eyes. "Are you seriously going to bed with your cheer uniform on? Well, nighty-nighty cheerleader" Hyun asked with a mischievous smile and she laughed like a cartoon villain. Hyun might be trouble, or it could be that her teasing others is her way of affection. She could be my friend or might be a bully, I don’t know. I will see tomorrow, I thought to myself before I fell asleep in the lower bunk bed

how I figured out the Riordenverse timeline off a Taylor Swift song.
Hi I'm Ace and let me explain why I think this is how the timeline plays out (warning Kane Chronicles aren't here cause I haven't read it yet and no exact dates are shared for TSATS cause I haven't finished TOA) (this is just for fun and I'm not being serious at all,)
with that out of the way:
I started my timeline with Magnus Chase, because in the first book we go to the Dwarf realm, and over the speakers the song "I know places" by Taylor Swift is playing, that song is from the Album 1989, which released in the year 2014, which means that MCGA has to happen around then, which makes me place the MCGA books to happen in around 2015
then we have Trials of Apollo, in the Third MCGA book we find out Sally Jackson had her Baby which tells us MCGA and TOA happen in parallel to each other (also in the first TOA book Percy mentions Annabeth going to see her cousin (Magnus)) which places it at about 2015, as well. and in the third book Apollo mentions that he was cast out in January, so that's when I place it when I did
which brings us to Heroes of Olympus, which I place to happen around late 2013-mid 2014, the lost Hero takes place in winter of 2013 and the son of Neptune takes place in June of 2014 and then the rest of the HOO books take place from June-August of 2014
and Finally we're at Percy Jackson and the Olympians. the Last Olympian takes place 16 months before TLH, so in this timeline it would take place in summer of 2012, and the entire PJO series takes place over 4 years and so in conclusion that places the beginning of the series in the Summer of 2008.
thank you for hearing me out on this :) I wanted to figure this out for a while and now I've done it!

Estelle and The Mark of Arachnid: The Trident of Poseidon (Chapter 10)
[First Chapter] - [Previous Chapter] - [Next Chapter]
Chapter 10: Even My Doctor is Quite... Strange
Disclaimer: The following is a non-profit, fanbase series. Percy Jackson and the Olympians; Heroes of Olympus; Trials of Apollo; Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard are owned by Rick Riordan. Spiderman or any concept of him are owned by Marvel Comics and Sony Entertainment. Please support the official releases.
So… after what happened at the CTF event, the adults took us to the medical cabin and gave us a check-up. They first checked up on Sam and saw how she was doing after her little power-up. Sam was confused at first on why she was being checked until I explained to her what happened.
“Wait… so I just went full Ultra Instinct?” She asked.
“Yeah.”
“That’s totally cheating! And Overpowering!” She yelled. “There’s no way I could use such an overpowering technique this early. Not even Goku mastered it in one day!”
“Relax, it’s not Ultra Instinct,” Annabeth said. “It’s Aura.”
“Aura? What’s that?” Sam asked.
“It’s-
[FAST FORWARD]
We already talked about this from the last chapter so we’ll just skip that for now. But rest assured, a time will come when Sam’s adventures will be revealed. It is awesome!
[PLAY]
After Annabeth explained her theory of Aura, Sam was giving a shock expression.
“Oh my god… or rather, gods. I can’t believe I unlocked an ability that gods can wield!”
“You unlocked it, but you haven’t mastered it,” Annabeth said. “I don’t watch anime, but even you have to know that it takes a lot of training to master such power.”
“True, but still, it’s crazy enough that I’m also a daughter of Athena, let alone have a unique power.”
After the doctors finished up on checking on Sam, they reported that she’s healthy for now. However, they did find a small burn mark under her arm. It may have been the result of her overusing the power without proper training. Unfortunately, there’s no one alive that can guide her to use the power properly. And the gods are forbidden to teach a technique to mortals (Don’t ask why because not even Annabeth knows either). So for now, she’s not allowed to use the power for the time being.
For now, they started their check up on me. Percy was really impatient about it. Annabeth was more worried about the symbol and what it means. I recall what  Percy told me about how she fought Arachne and won. Afterwards, they both fell to Tartarus; I guess seeing the symbol brought some horrible memories for both of them. And it’s worse if I have it.
“Anything?” Percy asked.
“Nothing out of the ordinary. Just only these marks that’s on her sleeves,” one of the Apollo kids said.
“Then what about the immense strength she showed earlier? And her fast reflex?!”
“Percy! Calm down!” Annabeth tries to calm Percy down. “I’m sure it can be fixed easily.”
“Now, Estelle, do you know when all these strange abilities start to manifest?” One of the Apollo kids asked.
I shrugged, “Sort of? It may have been around the same time that the spider bit me during the field trip. It kind of appeared near the Tablet that mentions Arachne.”
“Tablet?” Annabeth asked.
I explained to everyone about how a spider appeared near the Tablet of Arachne and then bit me, only to disappear afterward. Then The Vulture appeared and attacked me and Sam. And pretty much, that’s how we were sent to Camp in the first place.
“I see…” One of the kids said.
“What is it?” Percy asked.
“What Estelle has is a simple Curse.”
“A curse? Oh man, am I gonna turn into a giant spider monster?”
The kid sighs, “Unfortunately, we do not know. Curses are not our specialty I’m afraid. And the expert of curses is in California at the moment so there’s no one close by that can help us.”
“No,” Percy replied. “There are a couple of people I know.”
“Really? You know some people, Percy?” I asked. He nodded.
“Who?”
“The most powerful sorcerers we know, The Kane’s.”
The three of us, Percy; Annabeth and I, headed off to Brooklyn to get me checked up and to understand more about my situation. Sam had to be left behind due to her injury during Capture the flag. In the meantime, she will be watching over the kids until we return.
“So… when you say sorcerers…”
“They’re Egyptian sorcerers. Some of the most powerful ones we know so far.”
“Woah…” I said. “I didn’t think such a thing existed.”
“There’s more than just demigods, Estelle. There’s Egyptian magicians, fallen Norse warriors called Einherjar who are sent to Valhalla, Valkyries and Roman demigods,” Annabeth explained.
“Okay, we’re here.”
We all got out of the car and arrived at a tall building. What amazed me was that it was a school with a bunch of students around my age and younger coming and going in uniforms. The crazy part is that I know the school.
“Hold on! Is this the Kane Boarding School Institute?!”
“You heard of it?” Annabeth asked.
“Heard of it?! Sam and I nearly got accepted to the school! Apparently we were highly skilled and were considered to be transferred to KBS.”
“Why didn’t you?” Annabeth asked.
“To be honest, I don’t know.”
“Well anyways, before it was a school, the place was an abandoned warehouse. But Carter decided to expand the House and rebuilt it into a school. It’s a lot bigger inside,” Annabeth explained.
As we entered, one of the administrators greeted us.
“Hello, welcome to Kane Boarding School.”
“Hi Jasmine,” Percy answered. “We’re here to see Carter and Sadie.”
“Ah, Percy Jackson,” Jasmine replied. “It’s good to see you again. Elevator down the hall. Top floor as always. I’ll let them know you’re here.
Percy sighs.
“Thanks Jasmine.”
As we left and heading down, Percy commented about how much he hates elevators. Apparently, he had to escape Tartarus by an elevator and started playing Pina Colada as he watched his friends in Tartarus suffer in front of him.
I don’t know if I should find that funny or traumatizing.
Anyways, we started heading down the hall, I noticed that kids were looking at us, well, me specifically. They weren’t being curious; they were being more cautious instead. The elevator that was at the end of the hall opened and we all entered. Percy pushed the button to the top floor and it closed. And you wanna know what song it was playing?
Walk Like an Egyptian by the Bangles.
Kinda funny in a cosmic way. Going to visit some sorcerers of Egypt; on an elevator, listening to Walk Like an Egyptian.
I started humming to the lyrics and swayed a bit. Couldn’t help it, it’s a good song.
“You really love the classics, don’t you Estelle,”  Percy commented.
“AND PROUD OF IT!”
What can I say, I have a… bizarre taste.
And before you ask, YES! THIS IS A JOJO REFERENCE!
I’m sorry…
Anyways, the elevator opened and reached the roof and what I saw amazed me to this day.
“Woah…” I said.
It was a huge mansion and at the front was a wooden door with no knob or handles.
“So, uh, do we knock or…”
Before I could finish, the doors automatically opened and a young kid around my age appeared, with dark skin and black curly hair and light brown eyes.
“Hey Lucas,” Annabeth said. “You’ve grown a bit.”
Lucas smiled, “Hey Aunt Beth, Uncle Percy.”
“Hey kid, is your mom and uncle home?”
Lucas nodded. “Yeah, Uncle Carter just came back from the museum with the artifact.”
“Artifact?” I interrupted, “Wait, are you referring to the Tablet that bit me?!”
“Ah, you must be Estelle Blofis,” Lucas said. He took out his hand for a shake. “Lucas Stone is my name. You already know my mother.”
When I heard Lucas last name, I freaked out.
“Your mom is Sadie Stone?!”
Lucas nodded.
“The very same,” said another voice. I turned around and saw a woman wearing a jean jacket, a black shirt and blue jeans. She has long blonde hair with colorful highlights.
It was the highlights that gave away her identity.
“Doctor Sadie!” I said. I ran up to her and hugged her.
Doctor Sadie is my doctor who I always visit every year. She also checks over Sam too.
“Hey Estelle, how have you been? I hope you’ve been eating properly.”
“Me?! Why didn’t you tell me you were a wizard?!” I replied.
Sadie chuckled, “I take it Percy told you the truth about everything?”
I nodded.
“Well it’s about time. I swear, I thought your brother was making a terrible mistake hiding it from you.”
“I did it to protect her,” Percy replied. “You of all people should know how dangerous this life is.”
“And you of all people should know how important family is,” Said another voice. Behind Sadie and Lucas was an older man, roughly around Percy’s age but maybe a bit younger. Dark skin and brown trimmed curly hair and brown eyes.
“Hello Percy, Annabeth.”
“Carter, been a while,” Percy said. Though I sense a bit of hostility between Percy and Carter.
Carter smirked, “Ready to admit you lost that fight?”
Percy scoffed, “When hell freezes.”
Annabeth sighed and explained. Apparently, these two fought when encountering a very hungry alligator (Or Crocodile, I couldn’t remember) and neither are admitting who would’ve won that fight.
Boys, am I right?
“And you must be Estelle Blofis,” Carter spoke to me and reached out his hand to shake. And shook it.
“That’s me, I took it that my brother and Annabeth explained my situation?”
He nodded.
“Yeah, I had to head to the museum to retrieve the artifact.”
“How did you manage to steal an ancient artifact after the building was attacked?” I asked.
“Simple, I was the one that found the artifact in the first place.”
“Huh?” I said.
Apparently, Carter Kane was on an archeological expedition for the high schoolers and eventually, they found the tablet and brought it back to New York for studying. And the crazy part? Carter Kane is the Pharaoh. No joke. This archaeological sorcerer is the Pharaoh. So technically, he’s a king. Like Black Panther.
And what does that make Sadie? The Sorceress Supreme?
“The weird thing is that the entire case was secured both to mortals and monsters. So how a spider managed to bite you is a mystery itself. But Sadie and I will find out about it.”
“Hold on Carter, I think we should wait for Walt to come up with Zia and Ruby. He’s an expert on this kind of magic as well.”
Carter nodded and explained to me who Walt and Zia are.
Zia Kane and Walt Stone are also gifted with magic and are married to the Kane Siblings. Zia Kane is the headmaster of the school downstairs and Walt Stone is a professor who teaches curse magic. The school is also part of the Kane’s mansion and is used as a place for children gifted with magic to learn how to wield it as well as use it responsibly.
It’s basically Hogwarts but for Egyptian sorcerers.
“Sounds like Hogwarts has competition,” I said.
Sadie laughed.
“Oh they wish they can compete with Zia's students.”
We all sat by the main floor, waiting on Zia and Walt to finish school. It is the last day before Summer Vacation. In the meantime, Sadie was gonna give me a doctor check up on my situation.
“So, what’s the issue with Estelle? Transformation? Death Omen? Sickness?”
Percy shook his head. “No it’s… well it’s best that she shows you. Go ahead Estelle.”
I looked for something that I can use for demonstration.
“Hey, can I use that lamp?” I asked.
Carter nodded.
I aimed my hand at the lamp and the magic circle appeared again at my wrist.
THWIP
A thread of web was shot toward the lamp and made it fall.
Carter and Sadie were shocked at what I did.
“Did you just… shoot out webs on your wrist?” Carter asked.
I nodded. “Yeah, but it’s coming from these magic circles on my wrist.”
“So… it’s not like Tobey Macguire’s situation then?”
“Nope.”
“That’s not all,” Annabeth said. “She apparently has a quick reflex and superhuman strength. We witnessed this during our Capture the Flag event.”
“Does she have the ability to climb walls?” Sadie asked.
“Sadie, this is no joke,” Carter replied.
“I’m serious, Carter.”
I never really thought about that. I never had an opportunity to climb up walls. Maybe now might be a good chance. I asked the Kane’s if I could try climbing their walls. I walked up to the wall.
“See if you can climb up that wall.”
I then placed my hands on the wall, but nothing seemed to be happening. My hands weren’t sticking to the wall.
“Maybe you need to have the need to climb the wall. Otherwise your hands would have stuck to everything,” Carter suggested.
“That… actually makes sense,” I said.
“That’s why he’s the nerd,” Sadie said.
Carter rolled his eyes.
Apparently even when you grow up, siblings will always be siblings.
I did what Carter suggested and tried to crave for a need to climb the wall. Right when my fingers were about to touch the wall, the magic circle appeared for each finger. Suddenly, my hands felt attached to the wall.
“It worked!” I yelled. I started climbing upwards, even the magic circles appeared to my feet as well. I kept climbing up the wall until I reached the ceiling.
Everyone was shocked at what I was doing.
I, on the other hand, was freaking out with excitement.
“PERCY! ANNABETH! LOOK, I’M SPIDER-MAN!” I yelled, laughing.
As I came back down, I asked the Kane siblings, “So, what do you guys think?”
“Well… for starters,” Sadie responded. “Do you guys by any chance have an Uncle Ben?”
This is why she’s my favorite doctor.
“Sadie!” Percy yelled. “This is serious!”
Before Sadie could reply, the front door opened. Three people walked in. A woman with short black hair dressed in a business suit arrived. A man, dark skin and in  formal satire as well. And a little girl, a shade lighter than Carter’s skin.
“Daddy! We’re home!” Said the little girl, running toward Carter and hugging him.
“Hey Ruby. How was school? Were you behaving well for Mommy?” Carter asks as he picks her up and hugs her.
“She was a little excited but she behaved well in school,” Said the lady. Carter kisses her on the lips after putting down Ruby.
“I take it the school wasn’t too hard today, Zia?” He asked.
She sighs, “Just the usual. It’s what you expect from teenagers.” She looks at us, “Ah, Percy! Annabeth! So good to see you again.”
“Hey Zia, we need your help in a situation. It involves curses.”
“Then I take it, you’ll need my help as well?” The other man spoke. He walked up toward Sadie and kissed her. I take it that he’s her husband.
“You know it, Walt.”
Percy and Annabeth explained the situation to Walt and Zia. Meanwhile, I was talking to Lucas.
“I have to say, Lucas, I never knew Doctor Sadie ever had a son before. She never mentioned that.”
“Well, technically, I’m not actually her son.”
“Huh?” I said.
Ruby walked up to Lucas and he picked her up on his lap.
“You see, a couple of years ago, I was brought in due to what happened to my real mother.”
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. What happened?” I asked.
Lucas hesitated for a second and replied. “I… really don’t want to talk about it. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I understand,” I said.
Lucas talked more about himself. He used to live in California. His mom used to be a scientist but was suddenly on the run. At some point, she met up with Sadie and Carter and asked them to protect her son. Since then, Sadie took him in and he’s been family since. Especially to Ruby, he was like an older brother to her.
“I see,” Walt said.
The adults finished talking about my situation.
“So now she’s showing symptoms similar to that of Spider-man. That superhero from those movies.”
“Yeah, and it all started when she saw an artifact in her field trip,” Percy explained.
“The Tablet of Arachnid,” Carter mentioned.
“I see…”
“Mr. Stone?” I spoke. “Are you an expert on Curses?”
“Yes. It’s mostly because my bloodline is cursed as well.”
“Wait really?!” I said.
Walt explained that due to him being a descendant of King Tut, his lineage tends to die very young. Which explains why Sadie never had children. But that left me with one question.
“Wait, if that’s true, then how are you alive?!”
“That’s because I became one with Anubis.”
“…Come again?”
“Walt is a vessel to Anubis, the God of Funerary Rites, protector of Graves, and my husband.”
“… your husband is a god?!” I said.
After explaining the situation with Walt, I was still baffled. Walt and Anubis are technically one person. Like, it’s the Fusion Dance technique but without the time limit. No… wait, that’s not right. It’s more like Naruto and Kurama?
I… I need to figure out a better analogy but this is the best I can come up with.
But one thing is certain.
I am a HUGE fan of Anubis.
“YOU’RE LIKE MY MOST FAVORITE EGYPTIAN GOD EVER!” I yelled. At first, it was due to that movie, The Mummy’s Return and that huge army of Anubis. Of course, as I grew older I realized that movie was terribly inaccurate. Regardless, it's still my favorite.
After a while of me freaking out about Anubis and still contemplating the fact that my doctor is a sorcerer; her brother is the Pharaoh and his wife is the headmaster of a magical school. I swear, each day I’m learning more and more about my brother’s life and the many wonders that were hidden from me.
Ugh, anyways, we all headed toward the library except for Lucas and Ruby. Those two headed off so that the adults could talk to me about my conditions.
“So I did some research on the artifact,” Carter explained. “And I learned some very interesting history about its makers.”
As we reached the library, I was astonished by how massive it was. There were books everywhere and enough to rival even the Public Library here in New York. There were several artifacts that were displayed. There was a staff made of gold and had rings; A bracer with a small blade underneath, hidden; A pair of big old books with locks on them and an arrow with a unique arrowpoint.
“What are these?” I asked.
“Deadly artifacts that we sealed away.” Carter answered and named them. “The Staff of Cleopatra which is said to have a powerful amount of magic in it; The Blade of The Medjay which was used to kill several of the last pharaoh’s servants.”
Okay… That one is definitely familiar to me. Glad Sam’s not here, she’d be all giddy.
“The book of the Dead and the Book of the Living. Said that it can bring back those that died or undo the spell.”
Oh, apparently that also exists. I hope a really bad CGI Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with a scorpion body and an army of undead anubis warriors doesn’t exist.
“And lastly, this cursed arrow. We don’t know how it functions but for some reason, the majority of people who got hit with it die. Yet, a handful of people survived and say that they see spirits around them.”
“Oh my god, that’s a Stand Arrow!” I yelled. I explained to them what a Stand arrow is, it’s basically an arrow forged from a meteor that unlocks powers from those with strong wills. These powers are called Stands and they vary to different types. I… can’t explain it too much because it’ll take all day. Best you look up Stand Arrow online, it’s quite bizarre.
“So… what you’re saying is that those with strong wills receive these abilities from this arrow?” Carter asked.
“Yeah, though I’m not surprised this also exists in real life too since this confirms my brother being an Alternate Universe Joseph Joestar.”
“Please stop, Estelle!” Percy yelled. “I’m not like that cheating old man! It’s never going to happen!”
“Anyways, let’s get back to our current situation,” Carter said. “The Tablet is over there.”
At the center of the hall was the artifact itself, the Tablet of Arachnid. The very thing that started all this.
“What did you learn?” Walt asked.
“Well… this artifact was made during Ancient Greek time but it was found in a castle in England. How it got there is still a mystery, but I detected two kinds of magic on it. Greek magic and… dark magic.”
“Dark Magic?” I asked. “Like Harry Potter Dark Magic?”
“Not exactly,” Carter explained. “You see, a long time ago, there was a time where myth and reality coexist. But, there were mortals who feared the supernatural, including the gods. They would use magic, weapons and all sorts of methods to put a stop to them. They want to rid this world of all the gods and monsters that exist.”
“Who are these people?” I asked.
“They call themselves the Cult of the Cosmos.”
OF COURSE THEY’RE NAMED AFTER AN ASSASSIN’S CREED VILLAIN!
“Of course…” I muttered.
“Since Ancient Greek, they have been in the shadows pulling the strings in politics, military, kingdoms and more. Hell, they were the ones responsible for World War 2. They used Germany as a scapegoat for their experiments to fight off the gods.”
“Why?” Percy asked.
“They fear the unknown.”
That’s understandable. Not knowing what’s out there can be scary. Heck, we still don’t know what happens after we die. But even so, to sacrifice so many lives to fight off the supernatural is just not right.
What’s the point if innocent lives are lost?
“What were they trying to do?” Annabeth asked.
Carter replied, “… They were hoping to make a philosopher's Stone.”
A Philosopher’s Stone? The Harry Potter kind or the Fullmetal Alchemist Kind because… oh… never mind. I just figured that out.
“And they almost succeeded too. But the war ended before they could finish. Since then, they have been quiet for a long time. But my men have been finding proof that they were still pulling the strings even after the War.”
“So, have they been involved with most of the historic events after WWII?” Percy asked.
“Along with recent events we were involved with.”
“Wait,” Annabeth said. “Are you implying that…”
“The Cult was the culprit for everything. The return of Kronos; Apohis revival; Gaia’s awakening and many more.”
“So what you’re saying… these guys were the reason for all the people we lost in our life…” Percy said, with a lot of anger.
Of course it’s the Nazi’s fault. If Alucard was real, he’d be giddy with joy for being right. Ugh, I hope these cults don’t have vampires or werewolves. Twilight ruined the hype for me.
“We’ll have to talk about them in our next summit. For now, let’s focus on the curse. Walt, can you help me out with this?” Carter said.
Walt nodded and got working on studying the artifact.
There wasn’t really much to it, they used some tools, some magics and even used some books from the library. In the meantime, Zia and Sadie continue checking up on me to make sure nothing unusual is happening to me. They ask me if I started seeing anything strange after the bite. Other than the fact that I can see through the mist and know the truth about the world of Myths and Folklore, not much has changed. Of course, there are the occasional dreams I tend to have, but that shouldn’t be of much importance. Right?
As time passed, Carter and Walt finished and explained what they found on the Tablet.
“I studied the artifact for a bit, but I can tell that this tablet was a spell for Arachne’s revival. Its sole purpose was to find a new host for Arachne, but the magic was incomplete and was unable to achieve its purpose. Instead, it gives whoever it chooses the abilities of a spider.”
“So, there’s no fear of turning into a spider creature or being possessed?” I asked.
“No, you’ll just be, well, pretty much Spider-man.”
I sigh in relief. As much as I love to be Spider-man, I don’t want to turn into a monster or be possessed by Arachne.
“Is there a cure?” Percy said.
“What?!” I yelled. “But Percy, there’s no harm to this. We’re okay.”
“Doesn’t matter, it’s still a curse. Plus we don’t know the full extent of this magic or what it can do to the host.”
“He’s right,” Carter said. “We don’t know the full capability this curse has, nor the limit. It may be a permanent curse that may pass down to your lineage; or a temporary one that can fade away at any moment.”
“But there won’t be any changes physically, right?” I said.
“No, just the magic circles appearing and your fast reflexes,” Carter answered.
“Then there’s no reason to find a cure! I can use this power to protect myself, my parents and Sam! I can-”
“NO!” Percy yelled. We all jumped at the sudden change in his tone. “No… I won’t let that happen.”
“But Percy! You kept this hidden my whole life! This is my family's life. I don’t want to be left to sideline and-”
“I told everyone not to tell you because I want to protect you. You saw what happened to Mr. Stacy. You saw how dangerous the monsters are. You saw how powerful and dangerous us demigods are.”
“But Percy-”
“No… we’re finding a cure and then sending you back home. You will not be part of this life.”
Frustrated, I stormed out of the library and headed outside. I just couldn’t believe Percy. He always said that I was smart and brave. I remember how happy he was when I told him I got straight A’s in my classes. I worked hard for those A’s!
He always believed in me.
So why was this different?
What was he afraid of?

2024 READING LOG
I’ve seen people make lists like this and i decided to make one myself! I got back into reading Published Books in January 2024 after a long time only reading ao3 (admittedly quite a lot) and started a list in my phone so i didn’t have to remember what books in a series i’d already read (always my downfall as a kid at the library). We’re going by author because that’s easiest.
First up: Rick Riordan! (Was the release of the new PJO show a month before the catalyst in all this? Probably. But i never turn down a good reread.) Over the year i made it through all five Percy Jackson and the Olympians audiobooks, all five Heroes of Olympus audiobooks, the three Kane Chronicles books, and the first Magnus Chase book. All rereads, many times, with the exception of Magnus Chase. Hopefully in the next year i’ll get caught up on the rest of the Riordanverse.
Next up is Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series! I took the first two paperbacks to a family reunion and then have been devouring the rest as fast as the library app will allow. So far i’ve read through book twelve (and 7.5) in the series.
Next up is Lev Grossman, because i read all three of his Magicians trilogy for the first time after i rewatched the Magicians tv show (not for the first time).
I also read Sally Green’s Half Bad trilogy this year after yet another rewatch of Netflix’s The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, just to see what the original source was.
I started dipping my toes into Terry Pratchett’s Discworld with the Watch series, and i’ve made it through the first four of those.
Megan Whalen Turner’s The Queen’s Thief series has a wonderful audiobook narrator, and i’ve listened to the first four of those too.
I started the Game of Thrones books because why not (not based on a tv watch this time, although i should maybe finish that series at some point) and have made it slowly through a Game of Thrones reread and Clash of Kings first-time so far.
Also got Penny Louise’s mystery crime series recommended to me and i read the first one, Still Life, which was good enough that i’ll add the series into the library holds rotation.
Speaking of rec’s, the only non-fiction book i read this last year is Madeline Pendleton’s I Survived Capitalism and All I Got Was This Lousy Tshirt. An actual finance book memoir for the struggling broke people? It was excellent.
I also read Katy L Wood’s Poison in the Blood several times in actual paperback form, a post-vampire-apocalypse book with western vibes. Which is an off the walls description but it is also very good.
And i read the first book in Diane Duane’s wizards series, because i was looking to see if the library had her Middle Kingdoms books and they don’t (yet) but they did have So You Want To Be A Wizard available and it brought up nostalgia from reading that when i was like twelve. So i read it again, and loved it all over again.
Last but never least was the Fellowship of the Ring audiobook, which is so often my ‘i can’t sleep so i’ll listen to this with my eyes shut’ series that it was surprisingly difficult to Pay Attention to the Actual Words.
48 books in a variety of audio and ebook and paperback. Some months i read nothing, some weeks i zipped through four or five books.
I apologize for how long this post was, and the overuse of parentheses.
What were you reading in 2024? Leave a comment, send me a rec, tag me in a post of your own!

🏵️: Really into this right now, thinking about it a lot.
🌟: Current obsession! Will talk a lot if prompted.

Story's release status:
🏢: Finished

🫡: Canceled and left to rot

Extra tag to give a bit of background:
🏆: Badge of honor; pushed through shitty companies/fear of not happening and was continued awesomely, even if some sacrifices had to be made
🤏: Independent (aka indie); made by independent creators instead of big corporation like Disney or Netflix (yeah this one's just because of the GLITCH Productions shows lol)
🎤: Encore; was finished, but was loved so much they decided to make more of it against the original plan

Representation!
🏳️‍🌈: Queer (lesbian, gay, bisexual, ace, etc) canon representation! (Disclaimer: Label is included on media where the actual showing is very, VERY brief, so don't expect all of them to be full of the rep. Dw tho, lots of them have plenty)
🏳️‍⚧️: Trans umbrella (transgender, non-binary, etc) canon representation! (Same disclaimer as the Queerness label)
♿: Disability (from amputees to wheelchair users to chronic illness and beyond; wide umbrella) canon representation! (Includes allegories/coding that isn't a disability faced in real world but is commonly considered disability rep; i.e. the Owl Beast Curse from The Owl House)
♾️: Neurodivergence canon representation! (Yes, I understand that MANY of these beloved characters are super ND-coded, but this labeling system is all canon only. I don't wanna be responsible for bait. Well, okay. MAYBE I'll put it if they're so obviously ND that the show figured they didn't have to put it explicitly [like I did for Luz Noceda, though her neurodivergence was later actually confirmed by a background detail in Season 3.] and/or if real ND fans collectively relate to the character and accept them as one of us.)

If you notice that a media contains one of the things I made emoji labels for but I didn't label that trait there (i.e. I forgot to put a 🏳️‍🌈 for "Queer Rep" on something with a canon queer character), go ahead and let me know through my ask box! /nf
And vice versa! If you think I put a label on something that doesn't fit that category, feel free to correct me 🩷 (i.e. I put a 🏢 for "Finished" on a series that's still ongoing)
Tell me where you are in that media first, though, to make sure I don't accidentally spoil something! If you ask about something that is coming later in the story than where you're at, I'll just pull a Gooseworx. ("You'll have to wait and see.") I'll give you a general checkpoint (like an episode/chapter) though, where if you get there and still haven't noticed the thing, come ask again and I'll point it out.
I will, however, freely speak about missable background things and things confirmed outside of the show by the creator of someone. For instance, if someone who's never seen Star Vs. the Forces of Evil asks, "what? Where's the gay in that show?" I can tell you that A) in the background of a Season 2 episode, there are two boys kissing in the background for one brief scene, and B) that though Princess Star only shows obvious interest in boys on screen (note: obvious. there's still some slight hints of her liking girls that snuck past Disney), the creator confirmed her to be pansexual. Neither of those are spoilers for the actual story or anything important, so I can freely tell you.

Monthly Wrap-up~
July 2024
Books Read: 19
DNFs: 2
Holy I read a lot this month, haha. There was a lot of Manga to be fair though! I've never read this much in one month! It didn't feel exhausting either!
The Last Hero: I absolutely loved this one. It finished off the series with a banger and made it's way to one finishing this series and as well as making it a favorite!
Remarkable Bright Creatures: I'd never heard of this before, but it was my bookclub's August pick! It was a nice cozy read. I really enjoyed the character work in it!
Sword of Summer: The first in the Magnus Chase series! I love Rick Riordan's writing, but did not care for the Kane Chronicles so I was wary of the gods of asgard series. I shouldn't have worried I loved meeting Magnus!
The Midnight Lie: I loved Rutoski's Winner's trilogy. So I was excited when I saw a Lesbian romance by the same author and didn't really know much about it before I read it! I was very intrigued with it and am excited to pick up the sequel. I think it was only a duology. \
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet: This was such a nice cozy Sci-fi it made me think of Mass Effect. I loved it and the Wayfarer crew really made me happy
Golden Kamuy Vol. 5: I like the many expressions and how much Japanese history i'm learning with this series. Also love Asirpa.
Heaven Official's Blessing Vol. 8: This was such a good ending to such a beautiful story. I will not shut up about how much I love this story. Xie Lian you are such an icon.
Requiem of the Rose King Vol. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5: This is all gonna go in one seeing as I feel it will get blurred together haha. My Partner was reading this and told me it had some playings with gender. I like reading things like that! It is defintely very political and I am actually really enjoying that, I'm not the biggest fan of shakespearean stories at times but this one feels just right.
Hunter x Hunter Vol. 4, 5, 6: I love the Hunter x Hunter anime. I started the manga to get caught up and see what happens after the anime ended. I like this series, and the anime was pretty on the nose.
Divine Rivals: I read this for a challenge to read the past years GR best of the year, this was YA fantasy & Sci-Fi pick. It was ok, but I do not understand how it won. I look at the nominees and I hadn't really read any of the others, but look it was not the best book I read. There were some good bits, but it felt under-developed. Not interested in continuing this duology.
Tokyo Ghoul Vol. 7: Ah, I have never really read a horror manga. Tokyo Ghoul has been something I've been reading for a while but slowly. I loved this volume, it was peak. I loved that Kaneki went through a major character break. I love this boy.
The Hammer of Thor: Magnus Chase! He Strikes again! I listened to the audiobook for SoS and HoT, there are two different audiobook narrators so that was a little off putting. I'll be honest Kieran Culkin the narrator for HoT was better than the one in SoS. I liked this because of Alex Ferraro, I enjoyed she/he's banter with Magnus it was fun. It was also funny to hear Alex call Magnus a golden retreiver. This series is fun!
Icarus: I had not really have heard of this, I got it in the Rainbow Crate book box so It came to me via book recommendation boxes. It is kind of a retelling of the myth of Icarus and Helios. It was pretty good and is def not a close retelling. K Ancrum writes so beautifully. I do highly recommend it
Dnfs:
Godly Heathens: This seemed like really good potential, but I just didn't care about the characters and there were too many dream sequences and it blurred with what was happening. Maybe listening to the audio was the problem haha.
Westside: I just didn't want to read about a detective with a cop dad that was admired who did some police brutality. I'm sure some will like it, I just can't read about that.
That's about it! It was such a good reading month I had a great time. Once I started I just couldn't stop!

This December, or starting November, actually, I'm going to try to make a dent in my TBR book pile. I haven't read probably half of my books and bought four more today, so it's time to get reading.
I don't have as many books as someone who likes reading probably should have, I only started collecting books after high school so it's a fast growing pile.
This is a list of all the books I have. I marked the ones I did read with ✅, the ones I have to read with ❌, and the ones I started reading but didn't finish yet with 🔶.
I'm restarting this blog to post updates, talk about the books, and hopefully get some encouragement to keep reading.
Listing Rick Riordan's stuff first because I have most of the books and read nearly all of them.
Percy Jackson
✅ The Lightning Thief
✅ Sea of Monsters
✅ Titan's Curse.
✅Battle of the Labyrinth
✅ The Last Olympian
✅ Greek Gods
🔶 Greek Heroes
Heroes of Olympus
✅ The Lost Hero
✅ The Son of Neptune
✅ The Mark of Athena
✅ House of Hades
✅ Blood of Olympus
Magnus Chase
✅ Sword of Summer
✅ Hammer of Thor
✅ Ship of the Dead
❌ 9 From the Nine Worlds (Shorts)
The Trials of Apollo
✅ The Hidden Oracle
✅ The Dark Prophecy
✅ The Burning Maze
🔶 The Tyrant's Tomb
❌ The Tower of Nero
That's it for Uncle Rick. I want to finish Apollo's series first, because of the new books releasing next year. I will add the Kane Chronicles to my collection at some point, but because of them being so unpopular, they're very hard to find.
Divergent
✅ Divergent
✅ Insurgent
❌ Allegiant
❌ Four
Stopped reading because at the end of Insurgent the book kind of went into a totally new direction. It felt like I was starting to read a different story and everything just fell apart so quickly. I did enjoy the story up until then, just never felt the need to continue reading. But I'll finish the series. Sometime.
The Hunger Games
✅ The Hunger Games
✅ Catching Fire
✅ Mockingjay
Loved it. Will read again. I know there are more books by Suzanne Collins that need to be bought, but I need to get through my TBR pile first.
Gone
✅ Gone
🔶 Hunger
Absolutely loved the first book. Read it within one weekend, which is great since I'm a pretty slow reader. I stopped reading Hunger because I wanted to buy the rest of the series before I continued but I could never find a store that sold them all and now it seems they're off the shelves. I'll have to buy the full box set and just donate the two books I have.
Alex Rider
✅ Stormbreaker
✅ Point Blanc
✅ Skeleton Key
✅ Eagle Strike
🔶 Scorpia
❌ Ark Angel
❌ Snakehead
❌ Crocodile Tears
❌ Scorpia Rising
❌ Russian Roulette
Love this series too, not as much as others but it did inspire a book I wrote in lockdown. Going to finish it. There are more books now. I think there are three or four new ones, I don't know, but I'll get them (My grocery list is getting LONG. How am I to afford all this?)
Poison Study
❌ Magic Study
❌ Fire Study
❌ Shadow Study
❌ Night Study
❌ Dawn Study
Those who are familiar with this series will notice that the first book is missing. I bought this set in a thrift store, brand new, not even a crack in the spines, but the first book is missing and I can't find it anywhere. There is one at our local version of Amazon, but the cover doesn't match the others.
Death Note
❌ I
❌III
Watched the anime until L's final appearance. These books are basically just a collection.
Game of Thrones
✅ A Game of Thrones
✅ A Clash of Kings
🔶 A Storm of Swords: 1
❌ A Storm of Swords: 2
❌ A Feast for Crows
❌ A Dance with Dragons: 1
❌ A Dance with Dragons: 2
❌ A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
❌ Fire and Blood
Making my way through these books at a snail's pace. I only read them in December because that's the only time I have enough free time to really sit down and read them. There are so many characters and plot lines that I can't keep track if I read just a few chapters at a time.
Dragon Blood (Kindle)
❌ Balanced on the Blade's Edge
❌ Deathmaker
❌ Blood Charged
Snatched when it went on sale. Free or almost free, I don't remember.
That's it for the series's.
🔶 Merde in Europe
Very funny. Loaned it to a friend who loaned it to his uncle who loaned it to a friend. By the time I got it back I was already reading something else.
✅ Good Omens
Everybody loves Good Omens. Whoever doesn't like it is a liar.
🔶 The Hobbit
I know this is a children's bedtime story, I just didn't know it's as childlike as it is. Need to finish it so I can get the rest of the series.
🔶 Dark Lover
Part of a series. Don't like. Won't finish. Will Donate.
❌ 1000 Years of Annoying the French
A history book written by the same man who wrote Merde in Europe. I paged through it before buying but haven't gotten to reading it yet.
❌ Monstrous Devices
No idea what it's about. Bought it today on clearance. Something about a magic robot.
❌ Reaper of Souls
Bought today because I've seen it around stores and kept on thinking that I should buy it someday.
❌ The Language of Thorns
Bought today. No idea what it's about. My mom showed it to me when I was at the front of the line to pay, it looked like the kind of thing I would buy. It's a hard cover and it was really cheap.
❌ Some TikTok book about some kind of trial. A navy blue book with constellations on the cover. My sister wanted to read it. She never wants to read anything so I bought it so she can borrow it.
✅ Travelling Without Moving (Kindle)
Was a good book, very imaginative. Not the kind of thing I would normally read.
❌ The Oath and Blood Price (Kindle)
Used to be Twitter friends with the author. He's pretty cool. Read the first few pages, we have a very similar writing style.
These are the books I have. I used to read a lot as a kid, but I don't have those books anymore. Read mostly Wattpad stuff as a teenager, it's what we could afford at the time.
A few books I did read but don't own:
Maze Runner. Book one.
A School for Good and Evil. Halfway through book one, trying to ignore Netflix's prompts to watch the series (movie?) instead.
The Last Five Swords. A new release. I was one of the late beta readers but unfortunately didn't have enough time to finish. It's an amazing book and part of my TBR pile now.
Harry Potter 1-3
A few more I can't think of right now.
Then there are the books I said I would buy at a later stage.
Lord of the Rings
The Silmarillion
The rest of the Gone series
Rest of the Alex Rider series
The Kane Chronicles
Poison Study
Rest of the Death Note books
How to successfully rob a bank
That last GoT book to finish the collection
Maze Runner, probably
Those assassin books by Robin Hobb
Something by Suzanne Collins
I need to write a paper list that I can check.

Book Recommendations??
I just found out about the book ban that apparently has been going on for AWHILE. So I'm thinking I should update my little book collection. (Seriously I have books from 4rth grade that I have not read in years but kept them anyways) Obviously I want to support BIPOC and LGBTQ+ authors so I need a list of ppls recommendations please.
Some books I have are:
°PJO/HOO/TOA, The Magnus Chase books & The Kane Chronicles trilogy by Rick Riordan
°Night by Elie Wiesel
°A Dream Called Home by Reyna Grande
°Taken by Lisa Stone (haven't finished it and it's been 2 yrs)
°Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
°The Song of Achilles & Circe by Madeline Miller (haven't read Circe yet)
° All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven (yea haven't read it either...yet)
*Oh! While I don't own a copy of the book I did read The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander, and that was a real "Hey, bet you never thought about this before" moment for me and so books like that would also be appreciated.*
Sooo yea. I'm going to buy The Hate You Give for sure. And I've heard of Cinderella is Dead so that one too. But yea I really want to get more books and I just found out about this ban so why not get books that offends some bigots. Really really want YA fantasy but again, some "adult books" (not ✨spicy✨) like How to be AntiRacist by Ibram X Kendi would be good for me to educate myself on...well stuff I probably should be well aware about. Yea idk what genre that would be in though.
Think that's it. Ok, thanks to anyone who recommends me some stuff.

My Top 5 Book Series
As my first real post on this blog, I wanted to talk about my 5 favorite book series. This is specifically about series, not stand-alone books, so I am excluding Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot books. Although those books are, technically, chronological with recurring characters and references to other books, you can read those books by themselves and understand everything fine. I really like all of these series and it was hard to choose an order, and I haven't read some of these series for a while, so I am going off of memory. Heads Up: There are some spoilers about certain character relationships, but no major spoilers.
1. Rick Riordan PJO Universe books: This is the longest series with 21 books in the main storyline(Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, Magnus Chase, and Kane Chronicles). There are also other books that aren't part of the main storyline that I liked. I think that my favorite protagonist is Magnus Chase, but I also liked Apollo's character development and Percy is hilarious. I love Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology which is partially why I liked the series. Sidenote, Alex Fierro and Annabeth Chase are some of the best-written female love interests that I have ever read and they are both amazing!
2. Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens: Out of all of these series, I think that this will be the least known. Murder Most Unladylike follows Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong who created the Wells and Wong Detective Society. They solve a variety of crimes involving murder in multiple places in England, Hong Kong, and Egypt during the 1930s. Hazel is the narrator and my favorite character, but I also like George Mukherjee, the best friend of Hazel's love interest. There are ten main books with a couple short stories. In August, there will be another book coming out that is a collection of four stories, which I am definitely going to be getting. If you are interested, check out Robin Stevens' website. I would just like to say I am only putting this below Percy Jackson because there are fewer books, but this is my favorite mystery series that will be getting its own post eventually.
3. Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom: So let me preface this by saying, I did not read the original Grisha Trilogy, I am just talking about SOC/CK. Also, I just finished reading Crooked Kingdom the other day and the ending has me shook!!! I really loved this duology. I enjoy how it is written, switching between 6 POV characters(the Six Crows). I love the plot and I think that the first couple of chapters do a really good job introducing us to the characters. I think that Kanej is one of the most interesting and well-written ships there is and I love Jesper, he's fantastic. I haven't watched the Shadow and Bone TV series on Netflix, but from watching analysis/reviews of it and watching funny moments, I think that Kit Young's performance as Jesper looks amazing and really well done. With that said, I was surprised that they are all supposed to sound British.
4. Stalking Jack the Ripper: The first book this series takes place in is London while Jack the Ripper is committing his murder spree. Audrey Rose and Thomas Cresswell, along with the help of Audrey's Uncle, investigate the crimes while dealing with living in the 1880s. My favorite part of the series is that in other books, they travel to different places which creates a lot of good character development. My favorite book out of the 4 books in the series was "Escaping from Houdini". With that said, I think the ending of the second book was the best and most surprising. Seriously, if you like historical fiction with a romantic subplot, you really need to read this book.
5. A Series of Unfortunate Events: So I read this one a long time ago, but it is still one of my favorites. I think that it is a really unique series because it is a mix of mystery, horror, and thriller. We know who the villains are and they stay the constant villains for most of the series, but the people who die change in every book. I am also putting this here because there is an AMAZING Netflix adaptation of this book series. It was so good and it was probably one of the best book series to screen adaptations, in my opinion.
Anyways, if you got to this point, thanks for reading! With everything going on in Overwatch right now including the Anniversary Event and the Game Developer update, it took me a little longer to get this out than I wanted it to. I will be talking about a book I just finished in the next few days, hopefully, and I will talk a little bit about the Overwatch League on my main blog.

What's your favorite Rick Riordan series between Percy Jackson, The Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase and Trials of Apollo? (or like, if you can't choose, what do you like about the series you've read?)
Trials of Apollo, no contest.
I liked Percy Jackson a lot, it was VERY well done. Percy was hilarious and relatable, but also just super awesome, his dynamic with Annabeth was fun to read, along with his dynamic with Grover, the quests had a lot of entertaining encounters, and it had some well-executed themes that tied in with the overall conflict nicely, mostly about how parents’ and adults’ negligence and even abuse can harm their kids, the overall effects of that, and just... generally trying to get the parents to shape up, as well as the effects of not respecting others in general, like with how the minor gods and by extension, their children, are treated by the Olympians. It comes up with Percy’s relationships with both Gabe and Poseidon, and most of the campers’ relationships with their godly parents, and that’s a MAJOR cause behind the entire conflict, and one of the major things that Percy tries to make better at the end of the last book.
Kane Chronicles... it’s been awhile since I read it. I don’t remember it having as prevalent a theme as Percy Jackson did, though there was definitely social commentary on racism, with how Carter was sometimes treated, and with how people had trouble comprehending that Carter and Sadie were full siblings, since while both are mixed, Carter’s pretty dark-skinned, while Sadie looks White. It was more of a background thing though, not a major plot point. I liked the characters and the plot fine, they were entertaining, and it was good overall - but it’s not a series I’ve felt a pressing need to reread either. Only real complaint I have about it is the romances centering around Sadie. Her and Anubis were kinda cute, but it would’ve been a lot cuter if she was older than 12-13, and he wasn’t a 4000-year-old god who looked, acted, and was treated as a 16-year-old. And then the whole thing with making it a love triangle with Walt who’s ALSO 16 and Rick’s method of “solving” the love triangle... look honestly I just would’ve been a lot more ok with the romantic shenanigans there if Sadie wasn’t a middle-schooler throughout it. Overall still good though, I’d be down for an adaptation of it, but it’s one of the few cases where I hope something IS flat-out changed to make the romances more palatable.
Heroes of Olympus is where I originally fell off of the Riordanverse. There was just so long between books and I could barely remember what happened between them, and with most of the books being like parts of the same quest (especially books 3, 4, and 5), unless you were constantly refreshing your memory of them via fandom, they were hard to follow, especially with several main characters and different character dynamics to keep track of. When I went back and read the whole set of them though, getting back into the series, it was WAY better, since I could read them as a coherent whole. I could tell he was struggling to juggle all the characters, but I thought he did a fairly decent job of it for what it was. I ended up liking all the characters - ESPECIALLY Leo, I thought he was great and relatable and funny, but I also wanted to hug him - and while the quest could drag on a bit at times, there were some interesting parts there. And Percy and Annabeth’s journey through Tartarus was GREAT.
The themes for Heroes Of Olympus overall were pretty much the same as with Percy Jackson, but with less emphasis I think. It was mostly just “the gods (mostly Zeus, really) are being crappy again, but this time we have enough support among ourselves to manage, except for when a god is technically required to defeat a Giant”. A lot more emphasis was placed on individual character arcs and circumstances, which I think was a good choice, since with so many main characters, they needed more concentrated character development in order to put them up to par with Percy and Annabeth. Plus it allowed Rick to still go into some different themes a bit, like racism with Hazel, trauma with Leo, insecurity with Frank, etc, in a way that felt natural and relevant. It helped that they were broken up into different books for their introductions, so not everything was dumped in at once.
The ending of Heroes of Olmypus... yeah the final battle with the GIants was lame as all hell, and honestly the quest ended up feeling a bit like busywork, but screw it, I did LOVE one part of the ending. The imagery of big, bad Gaia, who even Zeus is so scared of he just wants to hide away with his head in the ground, physically manifesting and being about to take everyone out, everyone losing hope... and then screaming as Festus appears and snatches her up into the sky as Leo gives a shit-eating grin and hurls fireballs at her while insulting her the whole time is just GREAT. I always giggle, and I honestly found it a lot more memorable than the Kronos fight, even if it was technically less epic. It seemed fitting for her to be taken out in such an embarrassing way, by the boy she’d personally taken the most from.
Magnus Chase... yeah that’s the only one I didn’t finish. Quick note: its been over a year since I tried it, so I’m operating off of memory here. I wanted to like it, and after reading through Heroes of Olympus (which i originally stopped reading after Mark of Athena) and Trials of Apollo, I was all hyped up for more Riordanverse... and was disappointed. The basic elements were there, and the writing itself wasn’t bad, but... well, I never really got attached to most of the characters this time, I didn’t find the quest very interesting, and... well, you see how I mentioned about the themes in the earlier reviews? I thought Rick bit off more than he could chew with Magnus Chase, at least with the first book. (I slogged through the first book, got a hundred pages into the second book to see whether Alex, who I’d heard a lot of hype about, could save it, thought Alex was only ok but not someone who saved the book, and called it quits).
So in Magnus Chase, Rick went DEEP into the social commentary on a lot of disparate subjects, trying to really tackle homelessness, child abuse (because no duh, that’s pretty much a staple, I think the only of his series that DOESN’T have major themes around that is Kane Chronicles), Islamophobia, ableism, and... I’m having trouble thinking of the exact term for it, but Blitzen was heavily looked down upon and derided for wanting to make fashionable armor and just being into fashion in general, so... I think it’s supposed to commentary on making fun of people for having interests that are generally seen as feminine? I guess? I dunno, it was definitely social commentary on SOMETHING, but I think the dwarves having their own particular culture here hurt whatever Rick was trying to say, since social commentary is very much tied to the culture it’s in, and we only have a small taste of dwarven culture, at least in the first book.
In any case, all these things are fine to do social commentary on, but when you’re trying to go in-depth and really address them, it helps if they’re more tied in with the overall conflict in the book, and if each issue has room to breathe. As it was, it kinda felt to me like the characters were being paraded from location to location to confront some different social issue. I just thought it was too much, too crammed into one book, and the overall conflict had pretty much nothing to do with that. Like, at the end of the book Rick tried to tie it together with some sort of “we’re a band of misfits” message, and... well, a message based on NOT fitting in with society, isn’t one that’s very satisfying or cohesive. And the individual issues, while there’s certainly cross-sectionality between, aren’t intrinsically linked, so... they just don’t mesh together very well. Not so many, all mashed into one book. Plus I just didn’t care for any of the gods, and the only characters I liked were Magnus and Sam. Blitz and Hearthstone... they were just sort of “there” for me.
I can see why people like Magnus Chase, and it’s not BAD by any means, but it just wasn’t for me. Maybe I’ll take another crack at it at some point, but I’m not super optimistic about it. As it was, I just ended up looking up the parts where Magnus met with Annabeth and read those.
Trials of Apollo though, I ADORE. Apollo was hilarious (along with the books in general), it had a pretty focused message about child abuse and abuse in general, along with how a privileged position can blind you from the travesties that are going on around you, or that you yourself cause, and I just thought the themes worked very well. Rick went more in-depth this time on the exact consequences of child abuse and the ways that a parent could abuse and manipulate their child, something that wasn’t covered as much in his earlier series, as those were more based around neglect. I’m a sucker for a good redemption arc, and I was really impressed with how it was kinda slipped in with Apollo. Like, he didn’t even know he NEEDED one, and the good guys weren’t especially pressing him on that point, it’s a realization he slowly came to over the course of several books. And you can clearly tell that he’s conceited and has issues, but isn’t actually malicious... and slowly the reader comes to the realization that he has hidden depths, that not even HE knew he had. It’s really interesting how he did some pretty bad things (or DIDN’T do, a lot of it has to do with inaction and just being uncaring), but he never comes off as being like, evil. He comes off as being an arrogant, narcissistic person at first, but then slowly finding out that beneath that is a lot of pain and trauma, and part of that persona he’s built up has been to deal with this. Watching him slowly change and grow and discover himself during the series, in a way he never had before... it’s just amazing to read. Also puts a nice cap on the Greco-Roman saga, in that the past two series had a heavy emphasis on how the gods didn’t care enough and had to have their hands forced a lot, and Apollo sort of acting as a stand-in for those other gods, showing that yes, they CAN change for the better - something that most of the gods, and even other immortals, didn’t think was possible, even as they did it.
Well that was super long. But yeah, I have strong feelings on the Riordanverse, and Trials of Apollo is far and away my favorite.

why rick riordan could do better with trials of apollo
k so this is just my opinion, but i never really liked trials of apollo as much as pjo or hoo, and i’ve finally figured out why.
i’ve been a fan of rick riordan’s for a long time now, like five or six years. i started reading the kane chronicles and then went on to pjo and then hoo, catching up with the series in time to read blood of olympus right when it came out. i’ve always loved these books, the only other fantasy writer’s books i’ve ever felt so strongly about were the harry potter series. i’ve read the magnus chase books as well.
but trials of apollo. i was so excited to read it, but something about it just bugged me - in the first book of the series, i didn’t really like nico and will’s relationship all that much. i wasn’t sure why. it’s not like i didn’t think they were a cute couple, i did like solangelo, but something about how riordan wrote it bugged me.
and then i read the next two books, which were okay, but recently i finished the fourth book, and it left me with the same feeling.
so in the fourth book, one of the characters has this star of david necklace. i like that, i think that riordan being inclusive of different groups of people is great. he’s included LGBT+ characters, he’s including people with different religious backrounds, it’s great. but something about it was still bugging me.
i was trying to figure out what it was about this series that i just couldn’t get, and it finally hit me.
the way riordan writes these things - he just kind of sticks them in there for the sake of it, and never elaborates.
take the relationship between will and nico. in blood of olympus, their relationship is unclear, but it seems mostly based around healer!will and stubbornpatient!nico. i think they only have a single (written) interaction in the entire series. clearly they have talked at least a little bit behind the scenes, but presumably they’ve all been pretty similar conversations. then we get to the hidden oracle, and riordan just sticks in a scene that says, “oh, and they’re dating now.” and it’s never really brought up again. we get no background, no further information. it’s as though riordan is saying, “well, i gotta put something in to cater to the fans” and then just half-assed it and went, “okay, good enough, now back to the story”. i would’ve liked to know a little more about how they came to be dating, some stories about them as a couple, something. but it just went from “antagonistic frenemies” to “cute couple” overnight.
now, on to the second thing. in the tyrant’s tomb, we’re introduced to a character named lavinia. she’s a pretty cool person, free-spirited, sweet, extremely ADHD. she has this star of david necklace, which would’ve been an interesting addition to her backstory if anyone had actually MENTIONED IT. like three times in the book, apollo goes “oh and lavinia nervously twisted her star of david pendant”. and that’s it. riordan just kind of shoehorns it in and doesn’t do anything with it. it would’ve been really cool to hear about what it was like for lavinia specifically to learn about the Roman pantheon, what kind of thoughts it evoked, what it did to her worldview, or anything like that. but we don’t get anything at all. riordan just sticks it in and leaves it hanging.
and that’s the thing. riordan has the chance to further develop these characters, but he just doesn’t. he has these opportunities to dig deeper into these people’s stories, but he just leaves it. he writes it in such a way that it sounds forced, like his editor or whoever told him he should cater to the fans and be more socially minded or whatever, so he just put it in at the last minute.
the way he writes it sounds like he’s trying to fulfill an obligation, or complete a chore. he doesn’t develop it at all.
i think that if he’s going to write it so half-heartedly, he shouldn’t put it in at all. it’s distracting and doesn’t sound genuine at all. i’d rather have his old writing style back - where he sounded as though he enjoyed everything he wrote, and believed in what he was writing.
i’d rather have the effortless flow of his earlier books than this forced, “i did my part and now i’m done” undertone.

Adventures of Chika Hanabusa: The Restoration of Earth
Disclaimer: This book follows the events of Percy Jackson and Heros of Olympus fanfic, this fanfic will not include Trails of Apollo, The Kane Chronicles, and Magnus Chase.
Chapter 10: Comfort
Chika PoV
I woke up in the garden of many flowers and I saw Gaia staring at me. I also saw the three gods that Gaia consumed fully healed and just sitting at the flowers, like they were never eaten in the first place. I'm glad that they are alive even though they did try to kill Reyna, Hyun, and me.
"Don't worry demigods, those three are alive and healthy. Now then, you three will have no choice but to help take down Eris and Enyo. I have enough of war and destruction deities destroying my domain." Gaia puts her hands on her forehead and massages it, while Limos, Oizys, and Moro have sweat coming down their foreheads.
“Yeah, we will help you, just don't shatter our essence" The skinny elderly woman, Limos, says in a nervous tone while she sweats like a pig.  I'm guessing they are all scared of Gaia since she went all Godzilla at them.
“See Demigod, I just got you allies. You need to be smarter to deal with those deities over there" She points in the back to the three deities looking at us.
“You know, you don’t need to eat them. You could have just threatened their lives." I yelled in frustration. I was so traumatized by seeing Gaia possess me and eating the three gods, I will need to go to therapy for the time being.
“Does it matter, they are already afraid, and they have fewer incentives to betray your group. I expect gratitude, I never wanted to be stuck to you." Gaia angrily rants. At least she and I agree that we don't want to share a body, I just had to be a prison for a cranky earth goddess.
“Thank you, Gaia, for not killing them and making sure that they chewed up. Look, but can you at least swear in the River Styx to not go all crazy and feral again.” I want to make sure she doesn't possess me again and do all of these cruel things, I examined Gaia's facial feature and she smiled serenely, and her eyes was closed.
“I swear on the River Styx to ask your permission about possessing you and to not go all savage again," Gaia says in a tone like a grandmother promises to not eat all your cookies. Why is Gaia calm suddenly? She was all angry and frustrated a few seconds ago, I guess you can never know what to expect from Nature Incarnate. I have to be careful with dealing with the Earth.
“Hooray you two make up, now we can all relax in this nice field anyway.” The pale-haired man, Moros, says sarcastically. Oizys and Limo look at Moros with a worried expression like they worried that Moros would cause Gaia to shatter them.
" I guess so God of Doom. You three will help me regain my full strength since you came from the Night lineage." Gaia explained to the three gods and the three gods stared at her in curiosity, processing what she just said.
"Demigod, just promise to look after yourself next time. You should probably wake up because your friends are worried about you. We will talk late" As she finished her sentence, I felt the meta world or should I say my inner consciousness fading away and my eyes suddenly opened up in our camp site, and Hyun and Reyna stared at me.
"Hey guys, I'm back" I put on a fake smile and Hyun tackles me and Reyna looks on in worry. Reyna and Hyun must have carried me back to the camp site we just made.
"Chika, are you really fine?" Reyna asked in a worried tone her eyes showing sympathy, she must have been unnerved about the whole Gaia possessing me to eat the three gods.
"I would be lying if I said I was alright. To be honest, I was scared that I would have hurt you guys, but I know that I need to push through to fight Eris and Enyo. I just want to make sure we are going to be alive after the quest is over." I say in a low voice, and I stare at the campfire.
Reyna PoV
I was happy she was being honest and didn't try to lie that she was fine, but I'm glad that she was brave enough to continue this quest. I have noticed small things about her appearance like how the campfire highlights her shoulder-length hair and makes it lighter, her teeth are completely white, and I can tell that Chika has put on some red lipstick.
“Chika, I just want to let know that I will always be there for you. This is your first quest, and you are bound to see some messed up stuff. I hate to say it but quests are not glorious at all, they can be mentally draining and you could lose your life easily. I’m sorry that I didn’t prepare you well.” I looked on to see Chika's response, and she smiled and did a small heartfelt laugh.
“Reyna I was able to handle Limos because of your training, well before Gaia took over my body. You have nothing to apologize for.” Chika responds kindly. I have never encountered someone this warm and lighthearted, I hope this quest doesn't take away her light. She has been a welcome presence in my life even though we have known each other for three months.
“I’m glad that my training helped you fight a goddess. Chika, don’t be afraid to ask for more help.” I look at her and I smile warmly. I do hope that she won’t push me away, maybe I should lend her my strength like I did with Nico when we must take Athena's statue to Camp Half-Blood. I also noticed that Hyun has been quieter than usual, she's usually all spunky and energetic. She kept looking at me and at Chika, like she wanted to say something, but something was preventing her from saying it.
“Hey Hyun, what was your dealing with Moros?” I asked her, I’m not sure if she could answer me honestly.
“All he says is how I’m going to die a tragic death. He is the God of Doom, so I’m taking this seriously. We are all going to die tragic deaths anyway because of who our moms are. Why do we always have to suffer just because we are demigods? Poor Chika must share a body with a cannibal, you must fight your mother in her Greek phase, and now I might lose my best friend to some curse.” Hyun angrily rants about our struggles, and I have no answer for this as well. I sometimes wonder why we can’t have normal lives as well and why we must mature so soon.
"Maybe because we are stronger than normal people. You are right, it is unfair that we have huge responsibilities, but I think it will make us stronger. All we can try to do is to be happy with our lives and to live a guilt-free life. I don't have a perfect answer for why we are doing this. I guess we could ask our godly mother about this." Chika answered wisely, and both Hyun and I were shocked. I never expected her to answer Hyun’s question very well. Hyun and I both laugh at Chika’s answer and even Chika starts laughing as well. Perhaps I should ask my mother why she left Hylla and me to deal with our PTSD-ridden father.
“Thanks for lighting up the mood Chika. We should ask our mothers about why we had hardships. Anyway, I’m going to sleep, we need as much energy as possible to deal with Eris and Enyo.” Hyun walks back to her tent and starts sleeping. Hyun is right, we should all probably sleep at this time.
“Thank you, Chika, for your answer, perhaps I could finally confront my mother. I have another Chika, will Gaia try to possess you like she did during our fight with Moros, Oizys, and Limos” I asked uncertainty, I know being possessed by the Earth itself is not a pleasant experience.
“Believe it or not, Gaia got Oizys, Moros, and Limos to help us take on Eris and Enyo. She also swears on the River Styx that she will not go Godzilla and eat gods again, so I'm guessing she is tired of them screwing up her domain. We will need Gaia's help to survive the battle with Eris and Enyo. You don't need to trust her, but I do want you to trust me." Chika answered in a confident tone and her head perked up. Chika is right, we will need as much as possible because Eris and Enyo are both very dangerous, but I will never trust Gaia for what she did to my friends. If it were up to me, I would gladly behead her for what she made Chika do and her actions in the war. At least Chika doesn’t have to live in guilt for Gaia using her body to cannibalize those three gods.
"I trust you Chika. You know after this quest; I was hoping we could hang out and spend some time at Bacchus's Garden" Chika was in shock and her face became red.
“I would love that Reyna," Chika says in a soft, shy voice. I wonder if I made her nervous by accident. I do want to become closer to her in any way possible, I don't know where this feeling is coming from. All I can think of is that I admire her a lot and I enjoy making her face red. It is adorable.
"We should probably sleep now, Reyna." Chika walks away in a hurry and her face is all red. Was I too sudden, I need to work on my social skills. I put out the fire and I went to my tent. I change into my sleepwear and lay my head on a pillow. I cover my body with a blanket, and I close my eyes. It was a long day; it will become even longer once we find Eris and Enyo. I need to defeat my mother and ask her why she left us. I can't think about that, I need to rest now. I fell asleep, preparing for battle tomorrow.

Have you read rick riodan’s other series or the sequel series to pjo? I’m curious about what’s your opinion on them, if you had?
oh yes i have! well most of them
I love pjo, and i love the dorky musical made off of it, and i won’t talk about any other adaptations that do or do not exist. I’ve read all of the hoo series, and i also loved them. (Leo is my favorite) (But i love all of them) (this isn’t a complaint but yeah when i finished reading boo the epilogue was literally ‘i have read ten different versions of this exact scene in fanfics and i love it but rick. fess up did you read any fics’)
Nothing will ever have as much of an emotional impact on me as Percy and Annabeth dropping into Tartarus. actually house of hades was probably my favorite book of those five. just, everything.
um I’ve read the magnus chase series and Sam is probably my fave. i felt the final battle was a little trite until i remembered that mc was supposed to be at the same reading level as pjo, which is more middle school than the giant bricks the hoo books are, and then i liked it. Also Alex is goals, and i freaking LOVE the power Sigyn has in the plot, its understated but it’s there.
Actually i could go on for a while about how Hestia and Sigyn are held in similar ways and how i adore it but lets just say i adore it.
I read the kane chronicles! i sadly never enjoyed them quite as much as i did the pjo-lined ones, but honestly the fact that the egyptians have that huge world wide organization, like. Camp Halfblood is a 20 building camp ground. Rome gets one city- a whole city! but only one city. the Egyptians have multiple conclaves encircling the globe. i don’t know why but i feel that should have meant more to me than it did.
that said, Sadie just breaking the love triangle thing with ‘ill date both’ is the first time i saw that option in ya and now every single time i see it i think ‘both. if you cant do that, are either worth it?’ and i think ‘both’ and ‘neither’ should be just as common options as team a or team b ya know
uhh oh the trials of apollo! i feel kinda bad now but. I loved the first one! and i lost a lot of momentum in the second one. and then i got things spoiled about a certain character death before i read the third one and i just. i can’t bear to read any more of that.
Um, overall opinions. I like how Rick uses side characters. Reya and Rachel never stop doing things, even when they’re out of focus and the main story is half a world away. I love how powerful children of Aphrodite are, even if they’re shafted by other campers. I love how i can actually sympathize with the antagonists in the first trilogy- the gods do suck! I’d totally help Luke storm Olympus! but i also can’t abide by him turning on the children in camp, and like thats the most nuance i’d ever seen in a book series up to that point, and it’s still up there in things i’ve read since. I like that there are some obvious myth parallels that are directly talked about, and then there are quieter ones that are like easter eggs. the representation’s been talked about before but i do like it, and i like how it grows.
I like that Percy got to just about to jump out of a window to finally avoid having the fate of the world unwilling foisted on him again, and that he actually gets to be a kid! he’s on a swim team and he’s got college plans and he’s going far and is happy and i do not what to be told if this has apparently changed since the start of the trials of apollo
Also the found family is good kush

So, at this moment, I’m pretty much useless. Because of my fever, I don’t even have the strength to get up. So I have no choice but to watch my best friend hold on to her dying father. While that’s happening, The Vulture was laughing sinisterly.
“Stop laughing, you freak!” I yelled in anger.
“Oh you foolish mortal. Can’t you see? This is the curse of being a half-blood, no matter how much they struggle, the people they care and love are the ones that suffer.”
Sam was trying to stop the bleeding, but it’s not working. The wound was too big and too much blood was spilling. Mr. Stacy was dying and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. At this moment, Mr. Stacy seems to be saying something to Sam, but he was too weak for me to hear it. The Vulture flies up in the air, ready to attack.
“Time to die, Halfblood!” She yelled.
As she swoops down, Percy suddenly flies out of nowhere and clashes with the harpy. They both fall to the ground. I hear Percy groaning in pain.
“Percy?!” I yelled.
“Should’ve known it was an ambush,” He replied. “Where’s Sam?”
I pointed towards the Stacy’s, and as I did, Sam looked at me.
Her eyes say it all.
He’s gone.
Percy notices her expression and curses in an ancient language. Then the Vulture pins Percy down from behind.
“You insolent brat!” She yelled. “Always getting in the way! Always ruining our plans and forcing us to hide in the shadows!”
Percy tries to escape from her grip but fails. The harpy claws out Percy’s back. He screams in pain. I screamed out to him as I tried to get up; but once again, I was too weak to even move. I don’t know why I’m getting this fever, but it’s a really bad time to lose most of my strength!
“Time for you to die, Percy Jackson!” Vulture yelled.
Just as she was about to do the finishing blow on Percy, a bullet flew past her face, leaving a scar on her face. She grunts in pain and lets go of Percy.
“Who did that?!” She yelled.
We all looked at where the bullet was shot at, and we saw Sam holding her father’s gun and the knife I had a while ago.
“You're fighting me, bird freak!” she yelled.
Vulture snarled at her, “You? How can a mere child hope to stand against… wait…” She squints her eyes as she takes a closer look at Sam, “Your eyes…”
I looked at Sam and saw what the Vulture was seeing. Sam’s eyes were glowing. As I said before, Sam has gray colored eyes that are just full of curiosities and wonders. Now, they’re glowing, shiny like silver but fueled by anger and sorrow. It’s kinda like how Goku goes Super Saiyan; or Rose using her silver eyes; or… basically like how every anime character activates their powers for the first time.
“No matter!” The Vulture once again flies up and swoops down to attack Sam. However, Sam miraculously dodged her attack and slashed her talons with the knife. The harpy screeches in pain. Sam was being relentless, she was somehow dodging all of her attacks and was counter attacking with her knife. She wasn’t using the gun, but I believe she was just saving ammo to finish off the Vulture.
As Sam was dealing with the harpy, Percy was getting back up and was about to join the fight when we suddenly heard a loud roar. Percy cursed in silence and saw a big figure charging through and ramming towards him. Percy managed to dodge but barely. He grabbed his pen that was in his pocket and uncapped it, turning it into a sword. Percy gets back up and continues fighting the big guy while Sam deals with the Vulture.
I’m honestly at shock; not only is my lovable and dorky brother is being a total badass, but my best friend who is a total otaku (don’t judge, anime is getting popular lately) and a nerd on history and myths is standing up against a highly experienced flying bird person. Either I’m now hallucinating, or I have underestimated my family.
Sam continues dodging and slashing down the Vulture, but is only doing minimal damage. Makes sense, but just because she has some ancient power that’ll most likely be the start of another Shonen anime, does not mean she’s instantly an expert. What do you think this is? An Isekai Anime? Anyways, despite Sam holding up, she’s still no match for the Vulture. After only a few minutes of them constantly fighting, Sam was being overwhelmed by fatigue and the harpy’s relentless attacks.
Panting, Sam was cornered.
“Your temper tantrum is over, little girl!” The Vulture yelled. She lifted one of her talons and attempted to attack, but Sam anticipated and dodged it, then aimed her father’s gun and fired at her. The bullet flew past her, but left a small scratch by her cheek. The vulture then left a swift kick toward Sam at the stomach, knocking her out. Sam landed right next to me, groaning in pain.
“Sam!” I yelled weakly, “Stay down, just get to the gate, I’ll be okay!”
Sam slowly gets up and grabs the knife on the ground.
“No!” She yelled, “I’m not losing anyone else because of me! You want me, you flying freak? Come get me!”
As the Vulture was panting from their fight, I saw Percy also struggling with his fight against the big guy himself. Whoever this guy is, he definitely knows Percy’s fighting technique. I muster up all the strength I have as I slowly get up, but my fever is really wearing me down, like I could pass out at any moment. But I can’t.  I need to find a way to help them in any way possible.
“Percy!” I called out.
“Estelle! Get Sam inside camp! I’ll hold them off!” Percy yelled, unaware that I’m not feeling well and can’t do much to help Sam.
“But Percy-”
“I’ll be fine, go!”
I know he’s lying, but I ain’t got much of a choice at the moment. I called out to Sam.
“Sam! We gotta go!”
“Not yet! Not until I kill her!” Sam replied.
“Sam! That’s not you,” I said. “Your dad wouldn’t want this for you! He wants you to live a normal, happy life!”
The Vulture continues her relentless attacks. She would either fly up and swoop down to attack with her claws; use her wings to attack on the ground or simply throw some of her feathers at Sam. Most of her attacks don't lay a scratch on Sam, but she’s wearing out fast. Probably because she never did this much exercise in the past. Remember, she’s an Otaku nerd, not an athlete. Or maybe, it has something to do with those silver eyes. You know, how in anime where the main character uses their abilities for the first time with recklessness, only to wear out fast and lose the fight? Yeah, something like that.
Okay… I gotta convince Sam to stop making me watch anime. It’s ruining both our views in reality.
Suddenly, Sam was kneeling down, panting from dodging and attacking the Vulture. She was already wearing down from the fight already.
“Sam!” I yelled.
“You lose,” The Vulture said, kicking Sam towards me. She dropped both the knife and gun far away from us so we have no way to defend ourselves.
Meanwhile, Percy was managing to keep his head up and focused on his fight. The big guy was losing his breath. No doubt, Percy is actually winning.
“Why can’t you just stay down?!” Percy yelled.
The big guy growled.
He then punched Percy, making him fly towards us.
Percy groaned in pain.
“Okay, that really hurts,” He said.
The three of us stayed closed as the Vulture and the big cloaked man walked towards us. But now that I got a good look at his front side, I noticed he has horns popping from his hood. I can only think of one creature with such a horn. But it can’t be… right?
“It’s over, Percy Jackson!” The Vulture yelled. “Give up!”
Percy still has his sword on his hand, but he’s worn out from his fight and so was Sam. Plus, her weapons are tossed to the side. And what’s worse, the two are blocking the entrance to the camp, so now we can’t even get to safety and call for help.
“Now, time for you to-”
As the Vulture was gonna attack, a sudden buzz was heard from nearby. The vulture then responded toward her ear.
“Master?” She responded. She was nodding and listening to whoever was behind her earpiece. Which, may I remind you, I just noticed right now. Was that always there? And if so, was she just following orders from someone else? And by whom?
“Understood,” The vulture responded and looked at her partner. “Change of plans, our boss wants Percy alive. The rest we can dispose of.”
The big guy growled and nodded.
“Who wants me?” Percy asked. “Who do you work for?!” Percy yelled.
“Nothing for you to know, Jackson. Just know that you are very lucky that my master wants you alive,” The Vulture says.
“What, Percy has a fan club of his most hated enemies?” I asked.
“Oh, you have no idea.”
The Vulture walks closer to them as Percy gets between.
“You leave them alone!” Percy yelled.
“I don’t think so,” Vulture replied. “You are important to my master, but the girls made this personal now. Never have I lost my prey in all my life.”
I scoffed, “Yet you managed to fail to stop all three of us.”
“Perhaps… but you won’t be alive to tell anyone.”
As the two monsters walked closer to us, an arrow flew past the big guy. It came right behind us, and as we looked behind us, what I saw was even more shocking. I swear, I saw dozens of these spartan looking warriors, wearing armor and wielding spears, shields, and bows. Suddenly, a tall man walks up front from behind the group. As he appears, I realized something… he has a horse body underneath his torso. A horse butt.
Yeah… let’s add that in this pile of crazy reveals.
“You two! Leave these kids alone, or you face my campers!”
Vulture snarls then replied, “Chiron… mark my words, your camp will burn along with these warriors. My master will ensure it!”
The Vulture ordered the big guy to retreat, as they both walked back towards the shadows, she spoke to Estelle.
“We will meet again, sister of Percy Jackson.”
“The name is Estelle. Estelle Blofis,” I replied.
And the two disappear to the shadows.
Several of those warriors ran towards us and tended to our wounds. The man with the horse body, I believe his name was Chiron, spoke to Percy.
“Percy, are you okay?” he asked.
“Been through worse, but…” Percy looked towards Mr. Stacy’s corpse. “We lost a good man.”
Sam collapsed, as if all of her energy was just used up and she didn’t notice until the fight was over. Of course, I’m no different.
“Hey, Percy?” I asked. “I… I don’t feel so good…”
I suddenly started to lose consciousness as Percy called out for me. The last thing I saw was him running towards me as several of those warriors grabbed onto me so that I wouldn't collapse on the ground.
And then everything turns black.
You want to know something crazy? I don’t dream, at all. Seriously, everytime I go to bed, I close my eyes and then wake up the next day. No dreams or visions, nothing. It’s like time just passes by and I don’t notice it.
This time… I had a dream.
I can’t really describe where I was; only that it was dark and secluded. At the other end of this room, I saw these three hooded elder ladies, weaving something. Hard to tell what it was as it weaved endlessly towards the darkness.
I slowly got up and asked, “Where am I?”
The three ladies did not answer, instead they continued weaving. I noticed something though; they seem to be weaving some unique colors of threads. As I look towards the end of their threads, I see several sweaters and shirts with names on them. Most of them I recognized instantly and some not yet. However, the majority of these shirts were unfinished. But… the ones that were finished had names I am unaware of. There were names like Charles Beckendorf, Silena Beauregard, Luke Castellan and more; but there was one name that really grabbed my attention for some reason. It was a purple sweater, unfinished and tossed to the side and had a hole on the spot on the chest, where the heart would be. It didn’t have a name on it.
I don’t know why it piqued my interest, but for some reason I felt grief and sorrow for it. It’s as if it was meant for someone.
“Estelle Blofis…”
One of the ladies spoke and was pointing upwards. I looked up and saw a spider hanging by the light on the ceiling. It came webbing down towards the unfinished clothes and did something unexpecting. It began using its webs to seal up the holes on them.
“It seems,” One of the ladies said, “You have taken a path that shall defy fate itself, Estelle Blofis. Would you use this gift for yourself? Or for others?”
I didn’t understand what she was saying.
Gift? Defy fate? What does that even mean?
“Perhap time shall tell…” She said as the room began to darken.
Then I woke up.
I groaned as if I didn’t get enough sleep due to me staying up and watching some anime Sam recommended. Don’t deny that you have done this before.
“Estelle!” I heard a voice. I looked ahead and saw Percy, wearing some shorts and an orange shirt that had a logo and name on it: CAMP HALF-BLOOD.
I replied, “Percy? Where am I?”
“In the infirmary at camp. After you passed out, we took you here to heal. You had a pretty bad fever during the fight.”
“How long was I out?” I asked. Percy was quiet for a moment and then replied.
“About two days.”
“TWO DAYS?!” I yelled. I then rapidly started asking questions about The Vulture and her partner, Percy and Sam’s health and… about Mr. Stacy.
Percy was able to explain everything to me. The campers took us here to heal and recover from Vulture’s attack. As for Mr.Stacy… They buried him nearby and gave him a proper funeral yesterday.
“I should’ve been there for Sam,” I said. “It was my fault… I should’ve done something to help.”
“It’s not your fault, Estelle. He knew how dangerous this life is, so he did everything he could to protect her daughter. Mom did the same for me, and Annabeth and I would do the same for our kids.”
I sighed, “But all that Sam had was her dad. What is she going to do now?”
Suddenly, Sam emerges from behind Percy as she enters the infirmary.
“Stella! You’re okay!” She yelled as she jumped on me and hugged me.
“Sam…” I couldn’t say anything. I just held her and she let out all of her emotions.
“I was so worried, I thought I’d lose you too!” She said, crying out on my shoulder as she held onto me tightly.
After what felt like a few minutes of crying, Sam picked herself up and joined in on the conversation. Percy explained how the campers healed our wounds and saved us from the Vulture and her partner. Percy explained to me how I was having a nasty fever and that I was sweating pretty bad. I miraculously survived, but there was no explanation for my sickness. I wasn’t hit by any poison or cursed at all, whatever that means.  He explained to Sam why he brought us here.
“Sam, your father and I brought you here because it was the safest place for you to be. You see, your blood is sacred and brings danger to yourself. Your father did everything he could to protect you from this. If you knew, our enemies would pick up your scent much faster.”
“And where are we, exactly?” I asked. “What is this camp?”
“This is Camp Half-Blood. A safe haven for half-bloods like me and Sam,” Percy answered.
“Half-bloods? What is that?” Sam asked.
“Demigods, Sam. Demigods.”
Sam and I gasped.
“I understand this is a lot to take in but-”
“I’m like Thor?!” Sam yelled in excitement. “Can I do some awesome god powers like him? No wait, what if I’m like Bell from Danmachi?!”
Leave it to Sam to always talk about anime and movies. To be fair, it is a good anime, don’t mind too much about the… plot.
“Not like that, Sam,” Percy said. “It’s a lot to explain, so as soon as Estelle is ready, I’ll take you girls to the big house. Chiron will be there to help explain it better.”
“Chiron?!” I yelled. “You mean THE Chiron? The friendliest and wisest Centaur in Mythology?!”
“Oh yeah, I forgot how much you both were into Mythology. I guess this will be pretty easy to explain. Anyways, I brought you some extra clothes for you to wear in the meantime, Estelle. It’s by the chair next to you, Sam and I will wait outside.”
After that, Sam and Percy got up and left the building. On the chair next to me was an Orange shirt and shorts. My sneakers were there too. Afterwards, I got up and changed. I thought about what my dream was about and why I even had it in the first place. I don’t dream, at all. And what did The Vulture and her partner want with Percy? Who was their master? Well, whatever it was, it’s not good. All I know is that Percy is involved, and even though he’s such an overprotective dork, he’s still my brother who’s also a father and husband. And Sam is all alone now. She needs me.
Whatever happens from this point on, is my choice. I don’t know where this life will take me, but I won’t abandon my friends and family. Whatever this life holds for me, I will have to face it. Even if it’s a living nightmare.
And so, I stepped out of the infirmary.
