I'll be honest, having it out of a jumbled one-note doc spread into two dozen different tables and into mildly coherent pages is really exciting. Makes it feel less like brain rot and more like an actual game!

Hello. It has come to my attention that we don’t have a proper public relations team. For now I will do, until we have a proper system. You may call me Halo. I am an awakened NHP. Awakened NHP are what we call permanently unshackled NHPs.

Hiii I have to make a real promo post bc I'm bored of not meeting mentally ill people on the internet
🐛 Khyle
🐛 32
🐛 Ze/zir/he/him (no preference/mixing fine)
🐛 Not a huge fandom blogger but I'm deeply unwell about red vs blue and partially unwell about halo atm.
🐛 Need to make friends over 25 to play TTRPGs with because if I don't play tabletop games soon I might actually expire
🐛 I have an art blog that I never update but it's @inkfucker
🐛 I also have a comic I haven't updated to an even more extreme degree at @doggirlsondrugs
🐛 Literally trying to read more theory so I guess my main fandom is gonna be Parenti if I manage to get through this book lmao
🐛 Speaking of which I will absolutely read a book with some1 and compare notes cuz I suck at reading on my own ☝️
🐛 I don't care to see majority-nsfw blogs and esp not a lot of the in-vogue kinks on this site
🐛 Uhhh idk here's a list of things I've enjoyed ever:
🐌Bugs/insects
🐌 Comics by mentally unwell weirdos
🐌 Fashion in general (I have 1000 sideblogs my fashion blog is @didthatdudejustsayshelikescloth)
🐌 Homestar Runner
🐌 Pet sites - mostly flight rising & neopets (yeah I have a fucking sideblog for this too lmao @coadels)
🐌 Buffy the Vampire Slayer even though Joss Whedon needs to be killed
🐌 Buffy's goofy cousin show Big Wolf on Campus
🐌 Unwell podcast (I have not finished this)
🐌 Idk man I gotta leave the house and go see my friend come hang out with me on computers

hey it's the "nhp in my mech wants to annihilate the mendicant" guy again. after talking to it more and doing some research i am more confused.
the nhp told me that "the mendicant" is subservient to "the unliving vengeance of the primordial", and while i couldnt get much more out of it, it did vaguely remind me of some old pre-omninet story i dug up once. now i can't tell if this thing is serious or messing with me about the lore of some thousands of years old game about giant space circles
why not both? NHPs are also perfectly capable of structuring their personalities around stories they read in their youth its entirely possible they are roleplaying

So, I've been thinking about The Unity War and how, in writing it, I made a perfect structure to also tell another piece of media I love.
Tumblr media
So Halo Reach, the video game, is the story of Noble Team, a batch of six highly competent but ultimately unremembered soldiers from the pivotal event of the Halo canon. These six form a potent fireteam which, while not unique, exists outside of the typical military organizational structure, used for specific missions rather than mass battles. Each is a specialized personality, with a lot of room to interpret their minds and histories. Missions typically involve three or four of them at a time, in nearly any combination. Some die before the end, others choose their fates.
Most importantly of all: Reach will fall. There is literally nothing Noble Team could do to stop this. They are not the main characters of the Fall of Reach, they are a small side note. They can accomplish things, maybe even important ones, but they will never save Reach.
Players know this opening the game, and it never diminishes the interest. The journey, the little realities, that's the point. The romance of a doomed battle that might still affect the greater war, even if no one ever attaches their names to the final deeds. People will remember that Cortana and Master Chief got off Reach. People will never know that it was Noble Team's sacrifices that made that happen.
That's what The Unity War is about. Seven soldiers who can't stop their homeland from being conquered, but who can do little things that matter the whole way through, and maybe one day the Skovlanders will be free, even if no one ever knows the name Alx Squad.
Tumblr media
Get The Unity of Skovlan, including the Unity War, PWYW on Itch. It's worth it.

The Twitch Chat was talking about dealing mega-damage one day. They wanted ways to double, triple your attack, they wanted exploding dice mechanics (coming soon!) What do you think of the Triad's Halo?
Triad’s Halo
Wondrous Item, rare
“This ring was created using three different magically-treated metals. They were twisted and wound around one another. There are small gems infused with arcane energies trapped between the layers.”
Make your next attack roll with disadvantage, if you hit you can triple the damage from your primary ability modifier. You can use this property a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, only expending a use when your attack hits. You regain all expended uses after you finish a long rest.
Join us on Twitch every Mon\Wed\Fri to create new Homebrews and check out our Patreon for 474+ magic items, tokens, maps, and more.

I have started a free Patreon for Legendary: Conflict Evolved.
It is a tabletop roleplaying game homage to Halo and other first person military science fiction shooter games. Chapter 1, which will cover setting and basic rules, will be finished by the end of January.
It is a percentile roll under system. I've been developing the game since 2019 and as I roll the chapters out I am looking for feedback and playtesting.
I will also be running a few sessions of the game myself and will be looking for players. Eventually I will also be looking for artists, so if you are interested or know someone who might be, please let me know.
It is not a paid Patreon, I just needed a newsletter service and I think that will work fine. You can find it here.

So I had the first official playtest of the UNSC ttrpg yesterday! Here's a couple screenshots from the sesh, wanted to just recount a couple things.
First, when you drop to 0HP, you roll on a Wounds table. The higher the number you roll, the worse your injury is, going from good, to bad, to worse, to instant death. You can keep fighting at 0HP, but every time you take damage, you roll again on that table, adding +1 on the result. The wounds are all varied enough, and realistically stack horrifically together so that you have the potential to really be a dead man walking after a couple rough rolls on it, but one of our players rolled not once, not twice, but five times on the table that night (between his own character and an npc squaddie) and managed to, each time, between different modifiers, roll "being concussed" FOUR TIMES. So, I'll have to make some rules for repeat offenders on the list. Something like temporarily removing 1 point from your strength, or tech, or something like that, because I'm not sure how one would stack multiple concussions, lol
You can kind of see one of the firefights play out in the second screenshot- Echo Squad engages a grunt fireteam in the streets, caught between a rock and a hard place with the Jackal Snipers. Damages and weapons felt good- which is important, given the universe it's set in- but you know, three skirmishes is hardly enough evidence. They'll get to the AA gun next time, so hoping to have more data, but by and large, the weapons feel good, the zone-to-zone movement feels solid, and each unit having a universal 2 AP (Action Points) to spend doing things during their turn helped easily communicate what could and couldn't be done. No bonus actions, reactions, whatever. If you have AP left, you can almost certainly do a thing.
Hope it's a fun preview, and hoping to share even more soon! Especially a more complete breakdown once they're finished with the scenario!

@halobearerhavoc By this tag, you signed up for what I am posting here now (I couldn't help myself, even if it's not a digital game!) Based on John Harper's excellent Lasers & Feelings, this is:
Warrior & Nun
You are members of the ORDER OF THE CRUCIFORM SWORD. Your mission is to protect humankind from demons, preserve your dignity while serving in the Church and finding your own faiths. The HALO BEARER has been sucked by an interdimensional portal, leaving you to fend for yourselves while on leave on The Other Side.
PLAYERS: CREATE CHARACTERS
Choose a weapon for your character: Sword, Staff, Shotguns, Crossbow, Pure martial arts, or Gadgets.
Choose a trait for your character: Proud, Discreet, Outspoken, Eager, Bubbly, or Sombre.
Choose your number, from 2 to 5. A high number means you're better at WARRIOR (fighting, strategising, athletics, strength, passion, etc). A low number means you're better at NUN (diplomacy, academics, social abilities, rituals, calm, etc).
Give your character a cool saint name or something like it.
You have: a regular habit, armour, means of communication with other OCS members, a Mother Superion.
Player goal: get your character involved in crazy demon-hunting and women-kissing adventures and try to make the best of them.
Character goal: choose one or create your own: Prove yourself to your shitty family, Become next in line as halo bearer, Find yourself a new family with your sisters, Forgive yourself for your own sins, Be loved, or Keep Being Awesome (you have nothing to prove).
PLAYERS: CREATE YOUR OCS CHAPTER
As a group, pick two strengths for your convent: Handy connection to a rich, brilliant scientist woman; Ties with a powerful cardinal, Highly competent sisters, Gadgets galore, Large library on demonology, Easy access to vehicles.
Also, pick one problem: Most of the sisters are aggressive, undisciplined and possibly sociopathic; The press is on to you, The Vatican is unwilling to spend another penny on you, Mother Superion is always having a bad day, You only have ammo and fuel for another week, Your house priest might or might not have been compromised by a being from another dimension and is secretly working against you...
ROLLING THE DICE
When you do something risky, roll 1d6 to find out how it goes. Roll +1d if you’re prepared and +1d if you’re an expert. (The GM tells you how many dice to roll, based on your character and the situation.) Roll your dice and compare each die result to your number.
⬇️ If you're using WARRIOR, you want to roll under your number.
⬆️ If you're using NUN, you want to roll over your number.
0 - if none of your dice succeed, it goes wrong. The GM says how things get worse somehow.
1 - if one die succeeds, you barely manage it. The GM inflicts a complication, harm, or cost.
2 - if two dice succeed, you do it well. Good job!
3 - if three dice succeed, you get a critical success! The GM tells you some extra effect you get.
!! - if you roll your number exactly, you gain a moment of REVELATION. You get a special insight into what's going on. Ask the GM a question and they'll answer you honestly. Some good questions: what are they really feeling? Who's behind this? How could I get them to _____? What should I be on the lookout for? What's the best way to _____? What's really going on here?
With your Revelation, you can change your action if you want to, then roll again.
HELPING: If you want to help someone else who's rolling, say how you try to help and make a roll. If you succeed, give them +1d.
GM: CREATE AN UNHOLY ADVENTURE
Roll or choose on the tables below.
A threat...
A possessed cardinal
A demon-worshipping cult
An eurotrash would-be prophet
A Vatican ex-archivist
A mad scientist
A renegade sister warrior
Wants to...
Destroy/corrupt
Steal/capture
Bond with
Protect/empower
Build
Occupy
The...
Pope
Divinium
Vatican
Quantum tunnel
Tarask/wight demon
Holy artefacts
Which will...
Destroy the halo
Brainwash the masses with a new dangerous religion
Enslave humanity
Start a war/invasion
Rip a hole in reality
Fix everything
GM: RUN THE GAME
Play to find out how they defeat the threat. Introduce the threat by showing evidence of its recent badness. Before a threat does something to the characters, show signs that it's about to happen, then ask them what they do. "The Firstborn Children guards run toward you, what do you do?" "Your undercover tactical nun partner pours you a glass of lemon drop and slips her arm around your waist, what do you do?"
Call for a roll when the situation is uncertain. Don't pre-plan outcomes — let the chips fall where they may. Use failures to push the action forward. The situation always changes after a roll, for good or ill. Ask questions and build on the answers. "Have any of you encountered a nun who to all intents and purposes was dead but is now alive and kicking whilst in the process of becoming some sort of demon hybrid before? Where? What happened?"
