Cuttlefish bao buns

Made some inky bao buns filled with seared pork belly cooked for 24 hrs, pickles veg, peanuts and a spicey aoli. Also, pork filled fried gyoza with chili oil! 🥟

Seasonal activities enjoying the atmosphere (bit busy but), and trying Dutch pancakes! Could not recommend more. 🥞 They’re soo fluffy. We all walked into a random restaurant to regain some warmth and they happened to sell gyoza, a favourite. 🥟 I was planning to go to a gyoza restaurant for my birthday next week but I might not be able to do it, so this was a total blessing that they appeared on the day I got out with friends and family there. Christmas isn’t my holiday in relation to beliefs but I do celebrate seasonal things as I’m a romantic and it’s nice seeing happy faces and celebrations throughout the year of all kinds and trying different foods that aren’t usually around. Pleasure seeker, what can I say! ✨🌹 I still enjoy it all.

I’ll be doing my own thing at home for the winter solstice, but observing Christmas with the family, then personal activities for my own pagan stuffz, like the winter solstice and whatnot too. I have a few things to do because I have a collective of beliefs rather than One as I’m polytheistic. 🙂

every once in a while i get asks like this and please don't worry!! here's some highlights of the past couple of months:

we're thoroughly sickly sweetly in love

all of our friends think we're disgusting

buttons decided to get another degree (why not)

i got promoted at my job and now oversee the entire public law department at the firm

we have two cats together

we are planning on getting married by next year or so

i came home from work one day to find out buttons had placed a PIANO IN MY LIVING ROOM. we live in an old apartment complex with no elevator. she had a piano brought up THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS

every 2/3 weeks or so i have religious commitments and have to buy flowers for offerings so i also buy her different flowers until she figures out which one is her favorite and i can buy those instead

buttons derives great pleasure from buying what she calls "food waste lootboxes". it's this system we have of buying near expiration or aesthetically unpleasant foods for cheaper. so far this has yielded: 16 beetroots, too many potatoes to count, 6 cabbages, 120 eggs (organic!), 72 strawberry yoghurts (buttons hates strawberries) and a whole lot of weird ass imported groceries that just pile up in my pantry

i learned to cook many new dishes to get rid of all that food. my gyoza dumplings have become quite sought after at the office

buttons ditched medicine practice but remains a registered doctor to file my prescriptions when i forget them

when i leave for the office in the morning i put on red lipstick and leave a kiss mark on hidden parts of her that won't show on her zoom meetings

she says i take up too much space in the bed but this is a LIE i keep chasing after her at night and she keeps evading me slippery bastard

every day i wake up in the morning and she has left notes on the refrigerator. the other day she informed me a candidate broke a chair on another candidate's back during a debate in são paulo. often enough she just says cutesy stuff to make me smile

anyways life's been good!! she says the energy to write fanfiction and to mess around with her robots is one and the same and she's quite hyperfocused on the robots atm. but we've never been happier!!

WEEK 2 AESTHETICS

For this week's activity, we talked about aesthetics.

Identity, personality, style, and uniqueness come to mind when I think about the word "aesthetic.' To give your design a specific aesthetic, we need to pay attention to colors, fonts, images, compositions, and grids. Let's take a look at these menus:

After analyzing both menus, we can see that they have different approaches. The first one is a menu for Martha's Grill. We can see the predominance of pink and red (vibrant colors), vintage fonts, and an illustration that reminds us of a typical American Diner. For the second restaurant, there is a small appearance of colors, only red, which goes well with the composition since we are looking at a ramen shop, a typical Japanese dish. So it reminds us of the flag of Japan. Also, the font they used, reminds us of Japanese characters. In conclusion, aesthetics are built depending on what message you want to give.

For the activity, we had to go out and look at restaurants and hawkers. Do we see any similarities? Do they all look the same? Which one looks more expensive? What is their aesthetic?

We took notice of all of these points and went on a walk. I ended up going to a food hawker and noticed that their aesthetic can be a little bit messy...? Usually, those food stalls don't pay much attention to their menu design, yet they want to make food more accessible to the customers by showcasing these dishes, in case they don't know what to order. With simple fonts and images, food hawkers' aesthetic can be different from our usual indie cafe
