My thoughts on... X-Terminators 2022 (#1-5)
After reading through most of Laura Kinney's solo runs I was dying to read more comics with her in it, and X-Terminators seemed perfect for that considering its fairly standalone story plus its fun premise and cast of character! Not to mention it was a perfect way to learn more about other characters! It's safe to say that it didn't dissapoint as it's absolutely one of the craziest comic series I've ever read. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this series as it consisted out of characters I had seen before such as Jubilee and Laura but also characters I wanted to learn more about such as Dazzler of whom I'm currently really enjoying the earth-65 version of in Spider-Gwen: Smash. Boom Boom also provided some really amazing comedic moments and added a fun dynamic to the team. She was a character I didn't know much about so it was really fun to see what's she's all about! I loved how this entire series starts of as a group of besties helping their friend with a breakup which then slowly evolves into them helping a whole lot of women escape and confront their abuser. The overarching story of this series was something I actually quite enjoyed a lot and something I feel gets a bit overshadowed at times when I see people discussing this series. The humor and jokes in this run were absolutely unhinged and hillarious for the most part. There are a few moments that felt a bit weird to me and didn't land. But overall I laughed a lot while reading this series and had an absolute blast with it. The self awareness the series has really adds a lot to the humor. And overall all of it really made for some incredible one liners and character interactions. Another thing I really appreciate about this series is the consistency in Laura's characterization and past (despite a few nitpicks i have here and there). I love that they remembered the friendship Laura and Jubilee have and how in a way it's partially a follow up to the events of the Misadventures In Babysitting arc from X-23 2010B. It was really nice that they remembered those details and made it part of the series! I also loved the absurdity of it all when they desperatly try to explain everything to the Quiet Council and how the X-Men experienced the situation. It was so fun to see them try and explain everything after falling through a massive portal in the sky and landing onto the X-Men sports game while wearing all sorts of halloween costumes and how the X-Men basically had 0 context for any of it. I really hope that they revisit this team at some point in the future because i absolutely love the chemistry they have together and how fun they are to watch! All by all X-Terminators was a really fun miniseries with incredibly fun and hillarious moments and character interactions even if sometimes the humor didn't land or certain parts of the comic were a bit weird. The overarching story was really good and I wish more people would mention that part of the series as I think that it gets overlooked quite a bit. I'm really happy that I ended up reading this as it was an absolute blast!

incomplete list of niche characters i restrained myself from submitting to the niche comic character tournament
Ryoko Sabuki/Radiance: 7 appearances. Granddaughter of Gwen Lou Sabuki, whom I did submit. Biggest sensation since Dazzler, which would mean more if Marvel remembered Ryoko existed. Light generation and manipulation, just like her grandma.
Ameiko Sabuki/Goldfire: 9 appearances. The dead sister of Ryoko. I don't think she ever even showed her face in her non-powered form.
Leyu Yoshida/Sunpyre: 9 appearances. The dead little sister of Shiro Yoshida/Sunfire.
Marnie/The Rumor: 9 appearances. Spider-Man side character. Badass old lady. Figured out Peter Parker = Spiderman in like two issues.
Takeshi Matsuya/Wiz Kid: 29 appearances. He's literally so funny to me. I think he should be allowed to say fuck.
Nuwa: 2 appearances, once in an X-Force annual and once in a Tabitha Smith oneshot story. Her personality shifts wildly between those two and they never elaborate on why.
Tamara Kurtz/Dragoness: 28 appearances. Evil and loving it. Has wings, but they're technological, not part of her mutation.
Rina Patel/Timeslip: 19 appearances. No hate to whoever submitted Robbie, but she is definitely the more niche New Warrior.
Georgia Dakei/DK: 13 appearances. I like it when teenagers sass tf out of adult characters I think it is so fucking funny.
Sybil Dvorak/Skein: 44 appearances. her original villain name was a slur and i am SO glad they changed it. canon sensory issues queen. Also evil and loving it. Canonically bisexual (for evil).
Larry Bodine: 1 appearance. This is the guy from New Mutants vol. 1 who killed himself after his classmates joked about outing him. Yes this is the issue of NM with Kitty's infamous slur speech.
Rebecca Littlehale/Lighttrakker: 3 appearances. Kid from Power Pack who could teleport to light sources she could see.
Helen Takahama/Jolt: 74 appearances, which makes her the least niche character here. I need to reread Thunderbolts. In MC2 (Mayday Parker's universe), she was an Avenger.
Charlie Burlingame/Charcoal: 41 appearances. Created by a reader via a Wizard magazine contest. Legal problems means that he was never brought back when he was killed off.

Spider-Man Read-Through 055: Man Hunt (ASM 201-203, WI v1 19)
MASTERPOST
Tumblr media
Has he really?
After a nervous breakdown, Jameson confirms to his therapist that he didn't see Spider-Man's face back when he had the opportunity.
Later, at the Daily Globe, April Maye (...) is confused by the chaotic publication history of these comics and asserts that she absolutely met Peter before, while he's convinced he hasn't. At this point, I don't know who's right :p
The Punisher, searching for a lead, goes through Peter's apartment, and finds nothing, except for...
Tumblr media
As you can see, Frank's feelings for men aren't even a secret anymore, it's basically text.
Peter and April really don't get along, and Bushkin reveals to the readers that he's investigating something about Peter for his boss.
When Peter gets back to his flat, the Punisher's waiting for him.
At the beginning of #202, Frank reveals that he thinks Peter's part of the gang they've been fighting.
He's quickly fooled by a lame excuse, and he simply leaves (after apologizing for the intrusion).
More importantly:
Tumblr media
Yes, get that hunk naked!!!
April investigates her drug story and gets pretty close to the ringleaders. Glory's at the Bugle! Robbie's been asked to be in charge of the Bugle, he doesn't quite know how to feel about it. Jameson feels betrayed by this, leaves and knocks himself out on a wall. I like this new Jameson! No Spider-Slayer in sight. Let's hope it continues that way.
Spidey finds the Punisher again, who tells us more of his life story.
Tumblr media
That twink who saved him from that peculiar torture was about to get married when Jacobi's men shot him down. How unfortunate! So the Punisher seeks revenge.
They fight some goons, and Frank says he's using "Mercy bullets". Spidey's pleasantly surprised.
That Gwen Stacy wannabe gets found out during her journalism investigation (I'm beginning to like her! Female agency, yay), but Spidey's around, since she was dealing with none other than... Jacobi.
The Punisher wants to kill him, but Spidey doesn't let him. Instead...
Tumblr media
How convenient! We already did this a few issues ago with Aunt May's killer getting a heart attack!
Tumblr media
Frank, you know what roses mean, right? You really miss that twink, don't you?
Also, a X-Men crossover?! Dazzler?!?! Why the heck not!
The "What If" of this batch is "What If Spidey Never Became A Crimefighter", and I can't say I'm especially interested in that, so I'll just... skip it!
See you next time, folks.

I was already pretty interested in Spider-Gwen: Smash when I read that it would be about touring super powered musicians. I like any superhero comic in which there’s not much adventure and we just follow super beings’ normal lives.
But then I was doubly sold when I realized this doesn’t even take place in the 616-universe so it has nothing to do with the current trauma of the X-line.

X-Men '97
A continued mention of the plot
Got caught up on X-men '97 and apparently Gambit's concern about Magneto and Rogue were founded?!? Like that's a thing that happened?! (This is Marvel, I read the Norman Osborn - Gwen Stacy plot idk why I'm surprised, maybe because he was 70?? I mean they drew him like I GILF but I assumed... any who I was very wrong.)
Gray kissed Wolverine. Scott's cheating on her with her clone? I think?? They're doing a mind meld thing that Gray seems to think is too intimate for non-partners. Scott fucked up a live interview. Cable (all grown up) appeared for like a minute and was sucked back in time.
Portuguese guy and Dazzler are apparently a thing, they also got trapped in a video game. They met an older version of Dazzler but she was just a program remnant for the beta tests. I presume she'd dead now. This has not had an affect of Dazzler from what I can tell. Sentinels are on the island for mutants Genosha(?) (where there's like 4 kids we follow around, it's like... always these 4 children) Gambit's maybe dead? In completely unrelated news depowered Storm's been captured by a demon?? Magneto might also be dead (see Gambit) ? Honestly a lot of them are maybe dead. Got to see Nightcrawler though (might also be dead)!
Gambit absolutely decks Rogue with a truck after she chooses to stay with him. These two events are unrelated.
