(it's #2 on the first 'fics still missing'. there's a rec however i think that fic/the relevant scene was posted AFTER i sent the ask on may 2021 so it's probably not it, and i do not think it's 300k 😲 long!)

the only thing i still remember is that wen qing does a surgery to bring back wei wuxian's core, and the new core is from a wen prisoner who is set to be executed. the prisoner turns out to be wen yuan's bio dad, and he's willing.

Modern AU Wangxian where they're retired/considering retiring figure skaters, and the fic is a series of them trying to have sex but something going wrong. At the end LWJ breaks/hurts his ankle really badly on the way to a cabin to have sex in Olympics gear, and then they get married.

B) WWX comes back in a random cultivator's body while LWJ is recovering from the discipline whip, and he sneaks into the Cloud Recesses to learn about A-Yuan. I think the cultivator gave his body up to WWX to punish him, and the curse mark on his arm becomes activated when he's happy, and it activates so badly it nearly cuts his arm off.

So Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen reached immortality and now they are living in present time where everyone has reincarnated. I'm looking for match-making fic where Jin Zixuan (tired of wwx constantly interrupting family time with his wife and newly born son) decides the best way to get him out of the way is to matchmake him with someone. I think he tries Nie Mingjue mainly, because they have similar interests, etc.

Jiang Cheng also gets roped in, but he thinks Jin Zixuan is nuts the whole time. NMJ thinks Wei wuxian is definitely flirting with him at some point because his muscles get complimented? Lan Xichen has to reassure him that "no, he is just like that".

It's a comedy of errors mainly, because LWJ and WWX definitely have something going on between them, and it ends with them running off with horses to elope into the sunset or smth. Jiang Yanli doesn't know her husband's matchmaking scheme, but she does know about wwx and lwj and helps them elope at the end.

Pretty sure it was a short fic, ignores canon and occurs in a what-if scenario where the whole burial mounds situation didn't happen.

Lan Sect

The Lan Forehead Ribbon™ is sacred, if it is touched by someone that isn’t family, then it is considered a marriage proposal (if consensual—though that part was only added after some unfortunate mishaps in the past…).

Literally, everyone in the clan hates the oldest Sect Council Elders, it’s a running inside “joke” (bc it’s not actually a joke since those aren’t allowed—) to try to plan the best way to kick them from their spot in the council.

The Lans are known to have incredibly straight hair because of the weather of Gusu Lan.

Since they live in a normally clouded and misty area, with not a lot of direct sunlight, the Lans are naturally very pale. But, they don’t have to worry about getting skin cancer too much since golden cores deplete that possibility pretty easily.

The more detailed the Jade gate pass is that you have, the more important you are considered to the Lans. (It can also be regarded as a courting gift should one or both parties be interested, although it’s not often given that way.

Lan Yuan

He always has to get help to straighten his hair out in order to not be found out as a “fake” Lan. (He got help as a child from the Twin Jades, and then learned to do it on his own the older he got.)

He also has some of the darkest skin that is seen in the Lan Clan (since he was born a Wen, but it’s a secret). At first, people were suspicious, but as he grew older and acted as a Lan, people eventually stopped caring too much.

Lan Zhan wasn’t actually that good of a father figure to Lan Yuan when he was a younger kid, and Lan Huan was actually the one to bring him up more. (It was only during the duration of Lan Zhan’s time of seclusion given to him by the Sect Elders.

Lan Zhan did eventually become a good father figure toward him, it just took some time and help from others.

Lan Zhan

There was a time at the beginning of his seclusion when he would try and play Inquiry to see if Wei Ying was alive, but he eventually stopped when he got no answer after a few months. At that time, the Wangxian song became too hard on his mental health for him to play, so the next time he ever heard it was when he ran into Wei Ying on Dafan Mountain.

Lan Zhan is actually the worse cook of the Twin Jade Brothers. It was discovered when he tried to make the Lotus Rib Soup that he always heard Wei Ying gush about during his time studying at the Cloud Recesses, and he wanted to try to make it in memory of him and his fallen family. Lan Huan had to come and help him after he set the water on fire.

So you know how the fandom bash Wei Wuxian because of their precious abuser grape. I have now discovered another side of the fandom where people bash Lan Wangji because of Lan Xichen. For some reason I have found fics where they say that Lan Wangji betrayed gusu for Wei Wuxian and hurt the elders and that it’s good that Lan Xichen is such a forgiving brother (I mean it’s not like Lan Xichen slaughtered innocents). I barely like Lan Xichen as it is and with these stories I end up disliking him even more!!!

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji did not wrong. I stand by that, lmao. But honestly tho, the first punishment, tho extreme, does have a solid basis. LWJ did betray his sect and harmed his leaders for WWX.

But post canon, they are absolutely the only adults in the right. Anyone that bashes LWJ needs to go back and read the novel. He has the best character development and is on par with WWX by the end of it. Some people in this fandom just can't deal with the fact that after suffering so much at the hands of the society and loved ones, Wangxian won. Fate rewarded them with a long, happy married life with a gaggle of admiring juniors.

LWJ is out there living his best life, being the best cultivator, adored by the future generation, with a righteous reputation that no one can beat, and with the love of the most righteous and charismatic person in the Jianghu. Their favs could never, lmao.

It was late and it was dark and Lan Sizhui should be asleep by now, but Lan Jingyi was snoring just a few feet away and there was a rock digging in between his shoulders no matter how he shifted. It would be simple if those were the only things keeping him awake, but there was more, something in the back of his head, a ghost of a melody that he could always almost catch, but had never succeeded in capturing for himself.

It wasn’t a song that Hanguang-Jun would have played for him, he’d already asked him, but none of the notes matched the ones he could play for himself on the guqin. Those notes had been clearer when he was younger, but they’d been lost in hours of cultivation and guqin lessons as he’d gotten older, until he could only remember the barest parts of it.

He should try harder to sleep, he knows that, but laying in the same spot is becoming unbearable, so he slips out of his and Lan Jingyi’s tent, meaning to go and find a quieter spot to meditate, or maybe even just look up at the stars, but Senior Wei catches him first.

“Shouldn’t Gusu Lan’s head disciple be asleep?” Senior Wei only pretends to scold him as he sits across from the tents, a fire between them, and for just a moment, he looks the way he used to, when Lan Sizhui was much, much younger, even the way he twirls the dizi between his fingers is the same. “Your Lan elders will have qi deviations by the dozen if I have to lead the nighthunt because you’re too tired tomorrow.”

The smile on Senior Wei’s face is brighter and warmer than the fire they’re sitting at and Lan Sizhui can’t help but smile back as he comes to sit on his side of it, his knees underneath him unlike the way Senior Wei sits. “I have a hard time sleeping some nights,” Lan Sizhui confesses, looking away and suddenly feeling bashful. He’d felt the same whenever he’d woken Hanguang-Jun up in the middle of the night with bad dreams and terrors that he hadn’t been able to fully piece together back then. 

The next time Lan Sizhui dares look up at Senior Wei, his dizi is held much lower in his hand and concern has sunken in place of the smile that was once spread across his face. “You still have trouble sleeping after all these years?” Senior Wei asks, his voice dropping down into something quieter and his hands dropping into his lap.

“Did I have a hard time sleeping when I was with you, Senior Wei?” Lan Sizhui hears himself ask before he can stop himself. If he thinks hard, he can remember his head against someone’s chest, on someone else’s thigh, on someone’s thin but warm shoulder, but the voices are always the same, soft and gentle and trying their hardest to get him to sleep.

Slowly, Senior Wei nods, “You had a lot of nightmares.” It sounds like an admission of guilt, but Senior Wei is staring into the fire now, a far away look in his eyes as he pulls one knee up and rests his elbow against it. “Wen Qing and I came up with a lullaby for you, it worked most of the time.”

Something between hope and fear climbs up the back of Lan Sizhui’s neck and he tilts himself forward. He shouldn’t ask, he knows he shouldn’t, what if Senior Wei didn’t want to be asked about some lullaby he’d made up years ago? What if he didn’t want to sing it for Lan Sizhui the way he’d sung it for Wen Yuan?

“Does Senior Wei remember how the lullaby went?” Lan Sizhui asks, pushing the words out of his throat instead of allowing himself to think better of it. He wouldn’t hold it against Senior Wei if he didn’t remember, or if he didn’t want to sing it for him, he wouldn’t, and he wouldn’t be sad either.

“It won’t work with you sitting all the way over there, we always held you when we sang it to you before.” It might not have been an invitation, but Lan Sizhui takes it as one, getting up and coming to sit next to Senior Wei as if he were still worried about getting too close.

But Senior Wei doesn’t object, he only turns a quiet smile onto Lan Sizhui, a hand on his shoulder for just one moment before it’s gone and Senior Wei starts to hum.

It isn’t the voice that he remembers, but the melody is the same, the lyrics are the same, even the way his cheek lands on Senior Wei’s shoulder feels the same as his eyelids become heavier, his breathing slower, and his body slumping against Senior Wei’s.

Lan Sizhui sleeps soundly, and Senior Wei’s voice fades into a hum once more, soft words murmured against Lan Yuan’s hair that neither of them would remember in the morning.

Writing Prompt: this pairing is pure chaos but also pure fluff at the same time: chaotic fluff. Basically, they all love each other, but they love each person for very different reasons. Xiao Xingchen is the outwardly calm, but inwardly chaotic, Song Lan is outwardly and inwardly calm, while Xue Yang is outwardly and inwardly chaotic. It’s beautiful.

Writing Prompt: For me, this relationship is always so much more of a slow-paced, “LQR was JC’s mentor” or “LQR was his father’s old friend”, who JC reaches out to for advice, they enjoy talking to each other and find out they have a lot in common, and it naturally progresses into something more. Lan Qiren would not stand for it. Something had to be done...before it was too late. Too late to save Wangji... Too late to save his clan from the slow encroach of evil which that demon has wrought upon their world. 12. Reddit has directed me to you oh great ones 🧎‍♀️. Essentially, I read a time travel fic a while ago that was amazing and after scouring tags and even my history (I’ve only been bookmarking for a month like a dummy) I haven’t found it. The fic is wwx getting dumped back into his body in the lectures arch immediately after dying. He has some insane PTSD (like genuinely doesn’t want to live anymore but also feels guilty about how he ruined things the first time) and I distinctly remember him throwing up meat of all kinds and the Jiang siblings not understanding but LWJ just rolls with it from what I remember. The final piece which I’m only 90% sure was part of this fic is the plot twist. LXC discovers WWX embarrassingly quickly, and in this fic i’m pretty sure this LXC leans on the “WWX was your only mistake” kind of LXC, but ultimately doesn’t care that he’s in CR for the sake of LWJ—like he’s incredibly wary of WWX and his intentions but throughout the fic you can see LXC realizing he’s more than just the yiling patriarch or the man who broke his brother’s heart.

now there are two scenes i remember from this fic, but i’m not sure which one goes first, and for all i know i might be mistaking two different fics lol. but i distinctly remember WWX coming down with a severe illness. like LWJ and LXC come back to the jingshi at some point and discover that something is really wrong with him, and i think him being sick leads to a golden core reveal? not sure tho.

the scene that i remember that is definitely part of the fic i’m looking for is when LWJ and LXC (i think maybe for a medical check up for LWJ?) leave the jingshi for some reason, and WWX just chills for a little bit. after a while a servant comes into the jingshi to clean some things up, and WWX has to scramble to find a hiding place because no one else in the lan sect is supposed to know he’s there. he ends up hiding behind the far side of LWJ’s bed(?) OR behind a privacy screen(?), and he just sits there, cramped and uncomfortable for who knows how long, before LWJ comes back.

LWJ doesn’t see him at first and you can tell that he’s afraid WWX left, but WWX calls out for him and LWJ discovers his hiding spot, where i’m pretty sure WWX is cultivating some nasty illness.

i believe in the fic wwx and lwj used to know each other well (or were together? i cant remember), and wwx came back to lwj’s life with baby sizhui. the baby is also lwj’s i think? but lwj didnt know prior to wwx’s return. the fic is set in modern times, so lwj is a rich boss running a company and wants to provide wwx and baby sizhui everything they need. theres this one scene where lwj gets overwhelmed about the whole situation, so he starts making lists: schools for sizhui, putting wwx on lwj’s uber plan, etc etc.

-After the dead of WWX, LWJ (who is injured from the whip) go to Burial Mound and saves A-Yuan. WWX, who become a ghost king (if i'm not mistaken) tie his red ribbon on LWJ wrist to protect him and the ribbon makes LWJ very strong and he healed so fast. And it become a gossip at Cloud Recessess

-There is a scene where the only people LWJ trust with A-Yuan is Lan Jingyi's dad who is a healer

-There this one scene where LWJ been punish to seclusion in Cold Cave(i think?) and there are actually an army coming to attack CR but nobody tell him except Lan Jingyi's dad amd they escape together.
