my brother just struggled to use two six-foot bamboo poles like chopsticks to pick up cat toys and play with our youngest cat, and then as he set the bamboo back down he chuckled softly and said "ahhh... i really just wasted those five minutes. i'm gonna be late for work" and ran straight out to the garage

The most perfect picture of Soshi I may ever take! Noticed she was sitting looking out the window and I had to get up and take this so fast before she decided to move ;w;

So I was scrolling idly and I came across an article on the tallest man alive- Sultan Kösen from Turkey. He is 8'2.
Here's a photo of him and his lovely wife:
Tumblr media
...And I thought it was really sweet! So of course I thought about how I plot heights, and if I do them accurately.
Needing to give myself a reality check on heights, I pulled up basketball players that were over seven feet tall to see how well I made Nathaniel. I was instantly humbled.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT HIS HANDS. THE FEAR IN THAT PLAYER'S EYES. (The one in red is supposedly Rudy Gobert, measured at 7'1.)
HE IS CROUCHING. AND HE IS STILL TALLER.
Tumblr media
More Rudy. Jesus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This poor man hasn't fit in a chair in years. His legs are too long. He looks so uncomfortable. He is also a size 20 in shoes.
Meanwhile we have an even taller player- Victor Wembanyama, who is 7'4.
LOOK. JUST LOOK. THE GUY ON THE LEFT IS RUDY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks so skinny. He is 200 lbs of muscle. His weight doesn't show at all because it's all distributed vertically. He's a size 21 in shoes. The average size for men is 10.5.
Wanna know how that tracks?
Tumblr media
YEAH.
I don't know why I wrote this. I was just so astonished to see how the numbers actually looked. Nate, I have given you WAY too much leeway here

Save me, May to December by Megan Fernandes. Save me
#but goddd. also shoutout to The Woman Who Turned Down A Date with a Cherry Farmer by Aimee Nezhukumatathil#idk. something about summer nights turn me into someone who yearns for people who i haven't spoken to in a long time.#when I was fourteen in the summer I remember running around the yard and having dried-out bamboo sword fights like children would#and a decade later I still have the skeletons of bamboo everywhere back in the woods because it's impossible to fully get rid of.#and every summer I step over the brittle bamboo corpses on my way to the blackberries#and I remember the hollow thunks that the bamboo logs made when my friend and I smacked them against the old oak trees.#how apt to remember someone by the one plant that's impossible to kill. you think you've got it down and every year without fail it returns#even when it's gone it's never really gone. What do you do with a fuckton of dry 17-foot-tall bamboo logs once you chop them?#dead corpses that won't decompose. they just haunt the forest floor and crack underfoot to remind you of their presence.#dry and brittle and sunbleached and splintering in the july heat.#we used to burn them but they'd pop and crack and remind me of bonfires and the smell of smoke in his sibling's car instead.#I think the only route is acceptance and maintenance. it'll never go away. you just keep it at bay until you move away from it entirely#you can't uproot it but you can run from it I guess#but what use is that when it even grows along the interstate because people plant it without knowing how determined it is?#anyways. tentative plan is to find something even more invasive to choke it out /j

Hoping this isn’t me tumbling down another character analysis one shot but I wonder what Tsubasa would think as he looks at the main cast and how they grow in leaps and jumps, and he who once among the top of the world in beyblading now having to crane his neck up just to be able to see a glimpse of his friends among the cloud and stars, towering over his position in ways that he could never reach

Being in the Okami fandom for a long while, I've seen a lot of jokes about the commonfolk praising the gods for miracles without realizing who Ammy is. And those jokes evolve into either mocking at how ignorant those people are that they can't see that the god responsible is Right There, or annoyance that no one is outright thanking Ammy (or, let's be real, thanking you) for the hard work being done.
And I think that's sort of... missing the point? Because they are thanking the correct people! They're thanking the gods! And you're one of those!
And sure, Issun gets irritated about people not thanking you directly on occasion, but he's looking at these efforts from a mortal's perspective, much like we as players are. And that's only natural: we're humans, and the way we take in and process praise and rewards is very human. We like having our efforts lauded, and our name spoken, and acknowledgement that We are the ones that Did The Thing.
But Ammy isn't mortal, and she doesn't need the people to look her in the face and tell her directly how grateful they are. She watches as people thank the unseen gods in big ways AND small, and even if they can't see the markings on the wolf in front of them, the praise still flies right into her. And she's still wagging her tail.

DCA Jumanji turn teasers…
The idea landed well, so a tidbit more! You’ve rolled the dice and an “effect” or a “monster” appear. A effect changes the environment, and a monster… well. Can you guess what these turns are?
(effect)
Take a breath and clear the air
To know what is and isn’t there
(monster)
She dances and sings, but please think twice

it's that time of year again
no, I didn't plant it myself, it's been here at least 20 years
but even 50+ feet away from the main forest, it's still sending healthy shoots up. the furthest I've seen is 90 feet. I dug in a 10mil hard plastic barrier to separate half the forest, but I haven't finished this area yet, so the bamboo continues.
