This beautiful lady is a micrommata virescens, and she made my day 💚 I've read those white circles around her eyes are tiny hairs, but it looks like she has googly eyes 😆

WOW she is sooooo beautiful what a great color! One of my favorite huntsman spiders for sure. It really does look like she has tiny googly eyes but we won't tease her for it. I know very little about scorpions so I can't tell you whether that one's a juvenile or not! Especially not without a location so I can ID the species first.

had the incredible privilege of witnessing this Bronze Huntsman molting on our front gate. this was my first time seeing a spider molt in action, and also my first time encountering this species of huntsman-- extra special indeed!

the process of ecdysis is a very vulnerable one for the creature, as their new exoskeleton requires time to dry and harden, leaving them at risk of injury and predation. in the photo above you can see the single thread of silk tethering her to the gate while she dangles.

between her unhardened joints, her blue-green hemolymph is seen.

after dangling for a bit, she began to flex her legs as her fresh new exoskeleton became more firm.

we found her back on the gate the next night, looking beautiful and healthy!

~100 yo (~25 human years), any pronouns, environmental engineer. They lament the fact they need to restore Megapolis’ green areas over and over again because of all those attacks. She is a chill-looking extrovert, likes outdoor activities, likes going into abandoned-looking places and talking about Megapolis’ modern lore. He tends to be too noisy and a know-it-all for their own good, but if they need to get out of trouble, they can dissolve into the ground and reappear somewhere else

Sying Zaohui:

Sying is an engineer scientist who excels in her work and tends to be more than happy to assist others and her coworkers. She had been stolen away to help build the Spider Queens mech under the city and have been missing for a few months. During her imprisonment down in the city’s underground Sying had befriend another human who was also in the same situation as her own. Under Spider Queens relentless threats and pestering she had grown to dislike her and talk to the demoness bluntly. That and the fact she had been kidnapped by one of their clan members Huntsman, and at first had feared him a bit because of it. On the day of New Years, she witnessed her friend become the test subject of the Spider Queens venom to transform the city to her empire. After the events of the Hero’s saving the day and curing the townspeople, Sying couldn’t leave her friend behind, having made a promise to him that she is determined to fulfill to the end. Even if he hadn’t remembered her well and renamed himself as “Syntax”. So when the Mayor and Lady Bone Demon had taken him and the others away as spirits, she would join the journey the hero’s will embark for the Three Rings of the Samadhi Fire in hope to free him and maybe find some confidence and recognize her self worth during her adventure.

What's Xiaoxiao's relation with the spiders like in the reverse taken AU?

I know the Wukong's rage snippet said Spider Queen wasn't always the best mom, but what was it day to day?

I love the spiders so much and whenever someone does something with them I just wanna know everything about it!

THANK YOU!!! I had a lot of fun with his design :D Xiaoxiao was raised to believe they are his family. And despite all of them knowing Xiaoxiao is mostly being used for his powers/blood, they have grown to care for him too. In their own way. Syntax is surprisingly the kindest to Xiaoxiao. While he is in charge of keeping the boy healthy and getting blood samples from him, he does spoil him a bit. A part of his human side peeked out, caring for the boy almost like he was his own.

Spider Queen: His Mother. She does care for him, truly, she does. He is her son, but her ambition have always been a tad stronger than that motherly love. She doesn't want him hurt or in danger, but she isn't afraid to push him to his limits either. She expects him to follow her, as her son.

Huntsman: A lot rougher with Xiaoxiao, as he is in charge of his training. Still, he does care for the kid, but struggles to show any softer side as he knows the Queen doesn't want Xiaoxiao to be "soft". She wants him to be a warrior, which is what the Huntsman will make him.

Large Spider; Someone Xiaoxiao considers family, but family that can easily be manipulated. You will often see Xiaoxiao sitting on the guy's shoulders for a ride, or tricking him into buying Xiaoxiao a bunch of sweets.

---------------- Take this writing piece! REVERSE TAKEN: (The Huntsman and Syntax)

With a bag slugged over his shoulder, Xiaozhizhu slipped below the beam and into the secret lair beyond. Webs covered the walls, small spiders dancing to his shoulders to welcome him. As one nuzzled his cheek he chuckled.

“Yes yes, I’m back,” he mused.

The flickering lanterns cast a warm glow around the cramped space, illuminating the scattered artifacts of his previous adventures. The scent of mildew mingled with incense as shadows stretched and twisted, dancing playfully against the stone walls. He had slipped through the domain without much notice, getting back to his room without getting stopped halfway to demand where he had been.

Xiaozhizhu dropped the bag onto a rickety table, sending an assortment of trinkets spilling out: a brass compass, a collection of shimmering gemstones, and an old map that had seen better days.

“Let’s see what treasures await today,” he said to the spiders, their eyes glinting with as much mischief as his own. Looking over one of the gems, a voice cleared their voice. Xiaozhizhu flinched, scowling as he realized he was not alone.

He turned slowly, glaring at the corner where an oh-too-familiar figure stood. The Huntsman spider greeted him with a slow blink of his eyes, arm folded against his chest.

“Back from your little escapade, are you?” the Huntsman spider said, his voice a low rasp that echoed slightly in the confined space. The shadows shifted as he stepped forward, a glint to his piercing green eyes.

Xiaozhizhu crossed his arms, a playful grin tugging at his lips despite the tension that laced the air. “What’s it to you, dear Hunter.” he cooed in fake adoration. “Come to spy on little ol’ me?” he batted his eye lashes, “Exactly how long were you cooped up in here, waiting for me?” his sweet tone dropped to a more accusing tone.

The Huntsman spider let out a low chuckle, a sound that sent small shivers along Xiaozhizhu’s spine. “Not quite waiting,” he replied, each word dripping with sarcasm. “One might say I was merely... observing. Can’t have you wandering into trouble without someone to pull you back, can I… Little Prince?”

Xiaozhizhu scowled just a tad, throwing himself back into his seat. “I can handle myself just fine, thank you very much.” he pointed a finger at him, “Otherwise, what was the point of all our training?”

His main mentor and stick in the mud of a tutor. So strict in how he taught. Impatient, rude- but undeniably skilled. Xiaozhizhu couldn't deny the Huntsman spider's prowess. A “Hunter” for a good reason. Could track anything or anyone with ease. Able to avoid any trap with ease. Xiaozhizhu can’t describe how many things he would have gotten himself caught by if it hadn’t been for Hunter’s training.

“Training or not, you have a penchant for reckless abandon,” the Huntsman shot back, his tone rolling low like thunder. “Every time you flit out into the world, you stir things up that are best left undisturbed.” With a flick of his wrist, he gestured to the items strewn across the table, “What is even the point of all of this? I’ve told you to not put a target on yourself. The less people know about you, the better advantage you have.” the child’s skills with the shadows always gave them means of escape should things turn dicey. Not bad in hand-to-hand, but far better suited as a support.

Xiaozhizhu leaned back in his chair, the wood creaking under his weight, eyes glimmering like the gemstones scattered before him. “The are shiney?” he shrugged.

The Huntsman spider’s expression hardened, his green eyes narrowing as they bore into Xiaozhizhu’s. “Shiny doesn’t answer my question,” he said, voice simmering with restrained frustration. “You should know by now that every bauble has its price, and for every treasure, there exists a hunter—one intent on getting what is theirs back.”

Xiaozhizhu rolled his eyes just a tad, grumbling. Ready to bark some retort back, the two paused when a flutter came to the cloth Xiaozhizhu used as a door.

“Xiaozhizhu! It’s time for-!” Syndax emerged a chart in his hands and goggles on his eyes. He paused at the sight of the two, shrinking just a tad. “Uh… I didn’t mean to interrupt,” Syndax stammered, his gaze darting between the two as if caught in a web of tension. His demeanor shifted from buoyant enthusiasm to a mix of uncertainty and apprehension- all from one look at Hunter. The Huntsman frowned at this, unclenching his fists. “But it’s time for your blood draw, Xiaozhizhu, as well as your medicine.”

The Spider Prince tilted his head back with a groan.

"Must we always fester on the dullest of tasks?" he lamented, the edge of his voice a playful whine. He shifted his gaze from Syndax's hopeful eyes to the ever-watchful Huntsman. "I just want one day without... well, without all this poking and prodding."

Syndax frowned, stepping forward slightly while still eyeing the man in the corner of the room, "Xiaozhizhu, you know how vital this is for your health. The Queen has been worried; She’s keeping tabs because—"

"Because I am vital to the future of this Kingdom," Xiaozhizhu interjected sharply, crossing his arms. “Lets just get this over with,”

Syndax cleared his throat, adjusting his goggles. He lifted a finger, a brilliant idea striking, “I say, afterwards, I can fetch you a scoop of ice cream to liven your spirits.”

Xiaozhizhu’s expression brightened at the mention of ice cream, the corners of his mouth curving upward in a grin that momentarily dispelled the cloud of irritation that Hunter had cast. “Ice cream? Now you’re speaking my language, Syndi,” he replied, the prince's enthusiasm bubbling back to life like a fizzy potion. Syndi was always his favorite~

The Huntsman scowled, clearing his throat, “You shouldn’t coddle the boy,” he told Syndax.

The scientist clutched his chart to his chest, leaning away from the man just a tad. His gaze shifted, “I hardly call it that.”

“Me too,” Xiaozhizhu says, wanting that ice cream.

Hunter spoke again, moving so Syndax was forced to look him in the eyes. The man jolted, the action seemed intense and charged to any outsider, but seemed like a boring every day occurrence to the impatient Xiaozhizhu.

“You are spoiling him.” The Huntsman grumbled.

Syndax bubbled a response, finding a flicker of courage, “And-And you are too rough with him!’

“I am making him strong!” Huntsman disagreed, puffing his chest.

“I am ensuring the proper growth of his mental and emotional health!” Syndax says right back- like a bickering couple unable to agree on how to best raise their child.

Xiaozhizhu watched the exchange with bemusement, a slow drawl of his rolling eyes. This was a dance he had come to appreciate—Hunter, with his steadfast nature, and Syndax, ever the exuberant dreamer, playing out an unspoken tug-of-war for his affection and care. “Ice creaaaaaaammmm,” he whined, the two hushing him.

“You are going to fill his head with nonsense!”

“As a child, the correct stimulation is needed for a growing mind! I believe under the proper conditions—” Syndax began, his voice a touch defensive. "—that he can flourish beyond the confines of your brutal training!" Syndax shot back, his courage swelling like a tide. It was a spirited retort, sparked not from anger but from a genuine desire to protect Xiaozhizhu's essence. Plus, he believed the mind was far sharper a tool then just muscles... e-even if muscles were an appealing sort of trait.

At that, Hunter’s jaw tightened further, and he leaned closer, their faces almost brushing as he glared down at the scientist. “You mistake indulgence for care,” he said, low and threatening. “The world is a dark place, Syndax. Without strength, Xiaozhizhu will become another victim in it—a mere spark snuffed out before it ignites.”

"I'm right here-" The boy grumbled.

"And you-!" Syntax smacked his forehead to the Hunters, "Wouldn't lose quite so many fights if you actually uses your brain!"

Hunter seethed, "What did you just say-?!" he grasped the man's collar.

Xiaozhizhu wanted to slam his head against the wall, “Can you two just kiss and get it over with?!”

The air fell heavy with shock, leaving a momentary stillness in the room. Syndax's goggles slid down to the bridge of his nose as he blinked, unprepared for such candor. Hunter’s fierce demeanor faltered, revealing a flicker of surprise.

“What did you just say?” Hunter demanded, though the sternness was laced with a hint of incredulous disbelief.

A nervous chuckle escaped Syndax, breaking the tension like a spider’s silk thread snapping under pressure. "Kiss? What on earth are you- I would never-!" He stammered, trying to regain composure, a dust of color coming to his cheeks.

Xiaozhizhu rolled his eyes, a dramatic swoop of his arms punctuating the absurdity of the moment. “Ugh! No one is ever going to feed me ice cream at this rate!”

“You listen here, Young Man!” The Huntsman seemed- flustered. A small quiver to his tone that he pushed away with a forced anger. It only grew worse when Xiaozhizhu gave a very unimpressed side eye. The nerve!! “This pathetic little-” he gestured to Syndax, “He and I are not- how dare you even assume that we-!!”

Syndax, heart racing beneath his goggles, leapt in to diffuse the brewing storm. “Of course not!” he exclaimed, waving his arms frantically. “I mean, we’re not… right, Hunter? You wouldn’t—” His gaze flicked to the Huntsman, who was now wearing a mask of indignation mixed with mortification.

“Wouldn't what?” Hunter snapped, his voice rising with each word as if he were trying to chase away the absurdity Xiaozhizhu had unleashed. The glare he directed at Syndax was sharp enough to slice through the tension, but it was also tinged with something softer—something almost bewildered.

It was clear that a battlefield had momentarily shifted into awkward territory. Eyes locked, stunned. There were a few seconds of charged silence before Xiaozhizhu loudly clapped.

“And~” he threw his arms out,“Scene!” he announced with theatrical flair, drawing both their gazes away from each other. “Let’s quit the drama and get some ice cream, shall we?” His grin was infectious, even if impatience dripped from every syllable. He was swaggering his way out of his room, calling for the Scientist to follow.

Syndax could only stammer for a moment before recovering his composure. “Ice cream! Yes, of course! Let’s—uh, yes!” He stumbled after Xiaozhizhu, his mind still reeling from the abrupt shift in the air. Behind him, Hunter’s heavy footsteps matched the clamor of Syndax's flustered retreat.

“We are supposed to be training, Xiaozhizhu," Hunter called after them.

“Later~!” The prince sang, disappearing into the dark with the scientist at his side. Left on his own, the Huntsman scowled, scratching his chin lightly. Annoying little brat…

What happened to the time when he was a sweet little spiderling that adored his every word? It made the Huntsman sigh.

He leaned against the cold wall, the flickering lights casting shadows on his rugged features. Not so long ago, Xiaozhizhu had clung to him like a duckling, a small creature of curiosity and wonder who craved stories of heroes and beasts. Now, that bright-eyed child was some grumpy unpredictable teen. He was 19, sure, and while many considered him an adult, in the world of demons, he was still very much a child.

A pang of longing tugged on his heart. Kids grow up too fast.

Me too! Mostly they're cryptically colored grey, tan, brown, black, or green.

The green huntsman comes to mind first since it's uhhhhhh bright neon green

Because of the spider I chose for inspiration

(Mongolian green jumping spider-lyssomanes viridis) [as well as a green jumping spider-mopsus mormon but I digress]

I want him to jump higher than other spider people. Max jump Straight up would be 15-20 feet. This particular spider can jump 3 to 4 times in comparison to their size. These spiders also don't make their own webs so he had to make the web shooters. I don't imagine Edd as that type of smart so it took him a while. He's smarter than Edd originally but not a genius just a good learner with bad focus.

Also generally from what I've seen spider people are fast enough to dodge bullets. Especially if their paying attention. One of the main ability aside from electricity I wanted was a speed and agility boost. Definitely be fast enough to react to electricity like in the Andrew Garfield movies (I know the nerd specs I don't think I should get into them this will already be long.not even gunna open the can of worms that is the speed of electricity and electros powers) Which electricity is 90% the speed of light so 270,000 km/s..But we all know edds is not that focused and is probably gunna be making jokes the whole time so.

He will absolutely have gaps in his Spidey sense lmao

Venom strike/electricity powers are slightly limited because he won't be able to use them in combination with the webs since it would mess up the web shooters. Still a strong ability. This will replace the ice and fire movesets from power Edd set. I am keeping x ray vision, enhanced senses (duh) and the speed.

Not at that level though superspeed doesn't make sense for a spider person in my mind. More of like stored power that can come and go in bursts like kinetic energy. It's still a great asset. Imagine putting spider strength with that speed boost into a kick. This spider is faster than a huntsman (5m per second or 30-40 times their body length a second and scaled up would be 1450 m per second I did the math)

Mentioning strength Edd has already lifted tanks in cannon which lines up with some comic panels for Spidey. Probably will line up with the strength projection for Toby McGuire (around 182,000 newtons)

New Spider

Meiyun gets Spider’d. Inspired by @vegalocity

Early thirties.

That seemed like an appropriate time to administer the venom.

It put Meiyun at roughly the same age as himself (physically and mentally) and Goliath (mentally). It was a good time to slow her lifespan. Nice and neat.

…he was mentally rambling and he knew it.

Syntax exhaled through his nose as he held the syringe, flicking a finger against the tube to get rid of any air bubbles.

He didn’t look back at Meiyun, not yet.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to do this.

They’d all discussed it; Meiyun had agreed to it, gladly.

He didn’t remember how it came up. Maybe it was some comment about humans being fragile. Maybe it was Meiyun mentioning her birthday was coming up.

Or maybe it was Bell’s birthday coming up, and it occurred to everyone that while Bell would start aging a lot slower after she hit her twenties (such was the nature of mortal/not-mortal children), Meiyun… wouldn’t. She’d keep aging til she went past Goliath and everyone else, and then…

Syntax shook his head. No. No, they were actively preventing this now.

(Spider Queen had said she didn’t need Goliath or their princess to be miserable, but he knew there was more to it than that.)

The venom was a modified version from the one he’d been dosed with. He and the Queen had spent months on it.

He reminded Meiyun of it right now.

“You won’t lose your memories.”

“I know.”

“You’ll still have loyalty to the queen - that part we couldn’t get out. But you already are, I suppose, so. You’ll barely feel much difference.”

“I like Spider Queen,” Meiyun said with an anxious smile.

“Love ya too, girl,” Spider Queen said automatically.

That got a faint chuckle out of everyone at least.

“Alright.” Syntax finally turned around.

Goliath was sitting on the reinforced table, cradling Meiyun in his arms. She’d changed into a pajama set, and was staring blankly at the needle in Syntax’s hand. On either side of the room, Huntsman and Spider Queen tried to look detached.

But Syntax saw the way Huntsman’s foot tapped rapidly, and the slight motion in the Queen’s cheek that showed she was grinding her teeth.

The only ones not present were Spindrax and Bell.

Spindrax had sent a message wishing Meiyun good luck and congratulations, and a small box of alcohol and chocolate for the recovery period.

Bell was staying with her friend, Chenguang.

Good. The girl didn’t need to be woken up.

As Syntax approached with the needle and pushed up Meiyun’s pajama top, Huntsman tried to assure her in his Huntsman way. “Don’t worry, Cotton Candy. The process is mostly painless.”

From the corner of his eye, Syntax saw him suddenly wince at his own words.

“He’s correct to an extent,” he warned Meiyun, swiping the alcohol-soaked cotton on her spine. “It only hurts for roughly three seconds… but it hurts like a bitch. But three seconds, and it’s over.”

Meiyun nodded, trembling slightly.

“Still want to go through with it?”

“Yes.”

“Alright.” Syntax put his other hand on her back to hold her steady. “Ready?”

“No,” Meiyun laughed weakly. “But I won’t feel any readier.”

Syntax dared to pat her back for a moment.

He heard Goliath whispering to her, holding her tightly: “It’s gonna be okay, Bun. I’ll hold you the whole time, I’ve got you, I’ll be right here–”

Syntax drew a breath, put the syringe to her spine, and pushed down on the plunger.

He’d thought he’d been ready for the scream.

He wasn’t.

He didn’t dare turn to dispose of the syringe and needle until he saw Meiyun’s body go limp, her breathing heavy. Her rose-brown hair was the same green as his own now.

Goliath drew her up further against him, and Syntax saw a trembling purple hand go up to rest against his collarbone.

“You okay, Bun?” the big guy whispered.

“I’m okay…”

“Does it still hurt?”

“A little… but not exactly…? Feels like aftershocks… or something…” Meiyun mumbled.

“I had that,” Syntax chimed in, brushing off his hands and returning to the group. Now that it was over, he felt a lot calmer. “You’ll have a full-body ache for a few days, similar to the last days of having the flu. I would suggest you take it easy.”

Now Spider Queen… didn’t wince, but she did sharply look away.

“Okay… Thank you, Syntax,” Meiyun said with a weak smile.

Goliath churred a bit and nuzzled his now-spidery wife.

Huntsman, never one for awkward silences or heavy atmospheres for too long, suddenly clapped his hands together. “Welp, if we’re putin’ Cotton Candy to bed, I say we also break out the drinks Spindrax sent! She needs it.”

In this AU, the Spider-Man characters are the Fairy Tale characters. Princess Petra as Spintress is the gender-flipped version of Peter Parker while Merry James Watson the bard is the gender-flipped version of Mary Jane Watson. Also, in the Fairy Tale AU, the male musician is the dude in distress instead of the usual tiresome princess damsel in distress cliche. Kraven the Huntsman is the Fairy Tale AU version of Kraven the Hunter. Bishop Octopus is the AU version of Doctor Octopus except that he's not a villain yet. Vulture is a literal vulture but big and green. Norma the Fairy Gob-Mother is an unpredictable gender-flipped version of Norman Osborn.

Here, Merry James Watson is kidnapped by Kraven the Huntsman so that he could lure Spinstress into his hideout. Spintress races to the hideout to fight Kraven and save her boyfriend. While fighting Kraven, Norma the Fairy Gob-Mother appears in the battle to help Petra but rather for sinister purpose. After beating Kraven, Petra reunites with James only for Norma to appear and disrupt the couple. Both Petra and James smash the special orb before Norma could get her hands on it.

What's everyone's favorite color?

Suprising to nobody, Jing’s favorite color is blue, as is Sandy’s, Yellow tusks, and huntsman.

Mk and Wukong both like the color yellow! Hence the clothing.

Pigsy, Tang, Macaque, Pif, and Redson all enjoy the color red.

Mei, Syntax, Goliath, and suprisingly Erlang enjoy the color green!

Spider Queen, Scorpion Queen, and DBK all love the color purple!

Peng in particular loves the color black, and maaayyybe starts to get into the goth fashion alongside macaque.

I don’t know if these words were actually said in the show, but if they were I swear I’m gonna blow a circuit. (Just looked it up. They were.)

Either way this is driving me bonkers.

The reason it’s driving me crazy is that both Starscream from Transformers Prime and Heatwave from Rescue Bots were voiced by Steve Blum. Both are characters I LOVE (right now, and as a little girl) and both were played by the man, the myth, the legend himself.

Steve Blum is a real person, not a fictional character that I can gush about with no consequences, so I’ll keep this to a minimum.

but I’ve reached a point where the only thing you need to do to get me to adore a character (Evidenced with Huntsman and Mayor from Lego Monkie Kid) is to show me that they have been voiced by this man. It’s a bit of a problem. And if you watch YouTube, you’ve probably seen his ad. Imagine me perusing YouTube. Clicks on a video and moves mouse to skip the ad. Drinks water.

“Hi. I’m Steve Blum.” *Spews water all over my shirt. Lunges for the mouse to move it before it’s too late and spends the next several minutes it takes for the ad to play trying not to spontaneously combust from pure joy. …

Um… let’s just say this Transformers screenshot brought me some joy and leave it at that.
