#payneland #edwin x charles #dead boy detectives #dbda #pre canon angst brought to you by the weirdo who's always drawing post canon fluff #something about oral tradition and old timey slang #i took quite a lot of decisions with this one so buckle up #first of all the female ghost keeps edwin's eyes color because there's still some truth to the legend #the background is the same shade of green to reference hell #just like it is when he's having his flashback #alive charles is dressed all in black because he's not a happy boy #i also made it so that he grips his clothes when his mate punches him even as it's intended to be friendly #because well #these people will end up killing him so it's less friendly when you remember THAT #charles obviously doesn't mean anything by the mary ann comment #he doesn't know the slang meaning and just blurted out what he remembered from the legend #he will find out reach some conclussions and go punch a wall about it probably #about edwin tho his escape is still very recent and he didn't expect this #but even so early on he knows charles means no harm and allows himself to be comforted #it wasn't intentional but hey edwin shruggin off charles' touch is a good parallel to that one scene after charles “kills” the night nurse

i do mourn glinda's wardrobe more than anything else the movies could possibly change. every one of her costumes in the musical is so deliberate and there's so much visual storytelling done with them. her skirts get progressively longer as the show goes on because she's growing up. she goes from warm colors to cool colors because she shifts from naive and sunny to melancholic and serious. her accessories go from little purses to actual jewelry and her wand and tiara as her "public persona" solidifies. green and blue are incorporated to signify her relationship with elphaba. you can trace her whole character arc with just the way she dresses.

in the movie she just wears pink. all the time. the same shade of it. a bit of lavender if we're lucky :/

#thranduil #the hobbit #lotr #myart #i wanna start drawing him consistently for all of these doodles anyways #i hope his emotional state/proximity to elrond will be apparent by how ornate or stripped down his clothes and jewelry are :)#he wears dark warm colors and greens elrond wears cooler colors and occasional red and copper their tailoring is to personal taste #i like that rivendell elves have really elegant lines in their clothes it makes sense w the art nouveau architecture #i think thranduil dresses p singularly tho i think his tailoring and color choices are all of his own (dramatic)#ugh wish these geezers would hurry up and court each other so i can draw elrond wearing a flower crown in the greenwood

i wanted to combine the designs of all the soul riders. including the concept arts (and star academy for lisa). im always imagining them as something between the designs of starshine and sso, so i thought i'd do something with it for once

#sso #ssoblr #star stable online #its a travesty that they didnt keep more of lisa's old design elements #so i made her a yeehaw punk so to say. switched the brown jacket to a sleeveless one but kept her boots and flanel from the concept arts #anne and linds actually do not have as many changes #for anne i wanted to merge the skirt she has in starshine with the burgundy jacket and her cadual outfit from the design panels #so a dress it is #and linda #i wanted to keep the green hoodie. she REEKS of green why did they get rid of it #alex had some concept arts with the flannel wrapped around her waist so i did just that + her starshine shirt. and she kept her sso shoes #i associate them with a specific color so i also wanted to keep the color pallete close to it #so lisa's red. anne is pink. alex is orange/teal. and linda is green #that's it i think #enjoy #silverart

been seeing a lot of people say kalim's outfit in the tangled event reminds them of pascal, or that it feels more like princess and the frog than tangled, but the first thing it made me think of is all the concept art where rapunzel was going to have a green dress!!
