The more I think about "What if they made the Beetlejuice cartoon today instead of in the 80's/90's?", the more I think it would just be The Owl House but with more of a Stinky Bug-Man/Grunkle Stan masculine energy.

My alt take for my own two words/two people (3 but Raine joins later thanks to Stan wingman skills) band au is that they get a small fan cult in the human world but they make BIG in the Boiling Isles.
So they end up focusing way more in the Boiling Isles and since Stan fully belives no one will miss him in the human realm anyway he moves to The Owl House, and it gets to a point Eda is visiting The Human Realm more than Stan.
Stan just disapears to a point most people think he is dead. There's no trace of him.
At least until Ford tries to send a postcard without direcion and by destiny (and Time Baby/Titan/Axelotti interfereance) Owlbert finds it and it ends up in Eda sack of human realm findings (they don't NEED to sell it because they are a famous band but Eda WANTS to and Stan does agree it is a fun scan so he joins in).
When Stan decides to go find his brother in Gravity Falls (while Ford looks for a plan B and finally realizes that Stan might be dead actually) Eda and Raine like the good bandmates they are offer to join. This will eventually end up bad for Bill because liking it or not the trio has Hooty on their side.

I keep seeing those little crossover images where Bill Cipher meets up with other chaotic characters from other media and it made me go "Hmm, what if Ford had to deal with another chaotic god who has control over the mindscape and has yellow slitted eyes"

Sin, Kit & JJ @fluffyhellspawn
So I made a new character. Meet Kit. Kit is very cool :) Decided to throw Kit into a non canon interaction with JJ and Sin. Probably how it would go, honestly.
This is Kit. Kit is Kit. There isn't much to Kit other than the fact Kit is in fact, the Kit of all time. It is part of a gravity falls AU server. (ive been getting into it it's actually really good :) I'll no doubt end up repurposing Kit into a different world when I'm done on Gravity falls !)

Wondering if you have an interest in the owl house??? If you do share your gt headcanons rn
yesss i love TOH! AND they had a shrinking episode like come on, i would watch it for that alone but here are some HCs on how the main cast would interact with a tiny
luz: would be so enamored with a tiny it would be insane. like picking them up and calling them cute little pet names in spanish and generally just cooing over them. absolutely no regard for personal space at first but is very respectful when told boundaries. she'd ask a million questions but she would be genuinely curious and nice and loving and would want to be instant friends. would instantly claim herself as their protector
amity: would know everything about tiny history and culture and behavioral patterns and all that. she would tell luz all she knows and would be very gentle around a tiny, especially one that's afraid. she would be a very good calming presence for them and any tiny would respect her knowledge of their culture. would try and make them stuff out of abomination goo even though it's kinda gross to the tiny but they appreciate it nonetheless
willow: would kind of be a mix of amity and luz's reaction -- she would think a tiny is so cute and would want to be their protector but also knows and understands their tendencies. she would just be like a rock for the tiny, keeping them grounded and safe when they need it. would grow them tiny plants for a living space and in general would help them build out a home
gus: he would be like an instant brother figure for a tiny. i imagine the tiny also having a fixation on the human realm or something and they get to just geek out together and talk for hours about their findings and theories and all that. he wouldnt even acknowledge that they're small, he would just become instant pals with them. would make tiny illusions of himself when they talk so they dont get so overwhelmed
eda: she would be like luz and violate their personal space LOL just plucking them up whenever she wants to, but she would just as easily adopt them the same way she adopted luz. she would tease the tiny and use size-related nicknames but it would all be out of love. she would make them their own little corner/space in the owl house
hunter: the tiny would at first be very terrified of him and hunter would be super awkward and feel bad about scaring them but doesnt know what to do about it. eventually the gang put them in a room together and they have to talk out their feelings and they become very close afterwards, like almost out of nowhere, but they actually have a lot in common and are able to uniquely understand each other in a way that nobody else can

Why, out of GF, Amphibia, and TOH, only Luz didn't have to leave her new world behind:
I've seen people complain about Amphibia and to a lesser extent, Gravity Falls, for having their series end with a goodbye; the main characters having to leave their found families and this world they've grown to love and return to regular life. But the thing is, the three shows all have MASSIVELY different morals, that each fit in with how the goodbyes (or lack thereof) work into the finales.
Gravity Falls has a large theme of temporary goodbyes and reconciling. Stan and Ford being the primary example. But there are others: Soos and Melony, Wendy and Robbie, even Dipper and Mabel to an extent. The show builds upon this with Gravity Falls being a VACATION, they aren't trapped there, they could theoretically go home at any time. Episodes such as Summerween and Dipper and Mabel Vs. The Future also build on the tone, telling that it's okay to both grow up and move on, but you don't have to leave behind what you once loved in doing so.
The final conflicts (Wierdmaggedon) are caused because of characters not being able to let go. Stan couldn't let go of Ford, Mabel couldn't let go of Gravity Falls, Gideon couldn't let go of Mabel.
Gravity Falls teaches the viewer that even if you love something, you have to let it go, and eventually it will return. In the words of Bill Cipher: "We'l meet again. Don't know where, don't know when. I just knew we'll meet again, some sunny day."
Tumblr media
Amphibia has a similar theme of Gravity Falls, but it takes it further. Amphibia tells you that if you don't let go, sometimes things will only get worse. The primary example for this is the show's catalyst event: Marcy getting Anne to steal the Music Box. Marcy chose to go to Amphibia, rather than move away, and she dragged her friends into it with her. Instead of having a long distance friendship with Sasha and Anne, she took them to an alternate dimension in order to spend eternity on a massive adventure, and it got her killed. Marcy and Anne died and Sasha tried to kill herself.
And that's only Marcy. Sasha was a control freak that bordered on yandere at the height of her villain arc. Sasha couldn't accept that Anne was beginning to move on from the toxic friendship that the Calamity Trio had locked themselves into.
The trio were horrible to eachother, pre-character arcs, and they needed to focus on self improvement before they could even hope to be good friends. In the time between 'All In' and the epilog, the Calamity Trio would not have actually been able to be good for eachtoher. They say they forgive eachother, but that was forgiveness given during a WAR. Post show, the real feelings would start to bubble up. Anne's resentment for the betrayals, Marcy’s abandonment issues, Sasha's definite self hatred. The trio HAD to split up to have any semblance of a friendship.
Amphibia tells its audience that not all good things can last, and if you obsess and force it to stay, it can destroy you.
Tumblr media
The Owl House has a completely opposite moral. It tells you to find your people, and fight for them.
Luz lived in the Human Realm, but it was never her home. Her home was with Camila and Manny, but when Manny died, Camila and Luz's relationship began to falter. That world wasn't her home. When Luz found the Boiling Isles, she was always supposed to be able to leave. This wasn't a summer trip she didn't want at first, or a one way portal. The Boiling Isles was HER choice.
Luz picked Bonesburrow. Luz picked Hexside. Luz picked The Owl House. Her home was always meant to be The Boiling Isles. She only started trying to find a way back to Earth because the choice was taken from her. Luz no longer had the choice to go back to the Human Realm. In fact, the only time Luz chose Humans over Isles was when she was PUNISHING herself for helping Belos.
Luz got to stay in the Boiling Isles because TOH tells its audience that where you start isn't where you should always stay. Find your place and find your people. And when you do, hold it dear and never let go. "Us weirdos have to stick together."

i love your gravity house au! do soos and wendy know of each other? do they visit each other? what sorta shenanigans do they get up to
Tumblr media
Oh yeah! They’re even closer in this au than they are in the canon. Soos never really ventured out into the human realm, so Wendy exposes him to a lot of that stuff like video games and lakes that aren’t boiling. Wendy meanwhile is always wanting to get Up To Shit in the Boiling Isles and Soos follows her to help her get out of any scrapes and stuff. They’re besties your honor

While I enjoy The Owl House for its captivating plot, fascinating characters, accurate and respectful representation of the LGBTQIA+ community, and strong character development, I find that the ending leaves something to be desired. Specifically, I would like to address Belos’ death. His character is fascinating, complex, and significant to the narrative, so I feel that, although he obviously deserved to face the consequences of his actions, his death should have been treated with more gravity and significance rather than mockery.
To me, Belos has always been an example of a well-crafted, complex villain, marked by internal conflicts, fears masked by a stern façade, regrets, and a flawed worldview. His delusional belief that his monstrous actions serve a noble purpose sets him apart from the typical villain, whose sole motivation is an insatiable desire for power and chaos.
Even the smallest glimpses into Belos' backstory reveal his complexity, making him… painfully human despite his desperate attempts to project an image of divinity and power. While his actions are undeniably inhumane — marked by obsession and unwarranted hatred toward witches — his backstory exposes a vulnerable, sobbing child, and a young man consumed by envy and fear of abandonment by his brother. This perspective shifts him from a mere cruel Emperor driven by a thirst for power, to a mere human full of insecurities.
While Belos’ past doesn't excuse his horrific actions, it sheds light on his motivations and twisted worldview, which would remain opaque without this context. Exploring more of his backstory would allow us to uncover vital details about the way his past influenced his future life, his mission to spread the “Titan’s Will” across the Boiling Isles, and so much more.
If only Belos’ vulnerable, human side had been explored more deeply, we could have seen the stark contrast between his imposing exterior and his inner loneliness and misery in more detail. This exploration would suggest that his public persona wasn’t just manipulation to gain the witches’ trust, but also the act of self-deception in an attempt to convince himself that his actions were for the greater good, while also trying to fill the void within him.
This being said, the scene of Belos’ death was quite the opposite, as it was treated as nothing more than a comic relief, completely undermining his character journey. After his entire body melted, he was casually stepped on by Luz and her friends, which felt jarring given the weight of his character, and was simply unnecessary. I believe that even if Belos’ death stayed the exact same, but the last part was removed, it would’ve been so much more tolerable.
