what is iod? you post about it a lot and I think i missed a post explaining what it is D:

IOD (Isle of Derivia) is a fantasy project that I've been working on for 2-3 years now with a small group of friends. It's based on some planet (that isn't earth) that is majority water, except for a few landmasses. Derivia being included in that. The island is generally a strange place to live; You have this group of Mages (Sharde, Sin, Maxwell, Verisity, Siana, Vicki and Haedon) who are constantly at odds to keep the isle safe from various different threats, MOST of those threats being JJ, Kore, and even Alf at some point. JJ being a terrorist, Kore being his sidekick (essentially.), and then Alf who has.... a lot going on in the background that I wont FULLY explain for now. :D I eventually one day plan to animate it, but, as of now, the only pieces of content I am interested in producing for this project is probably short-form comics. Once I feel more comfortable in the storyline and other things, I will likely be making animations based on it!!! :)

anyway oh my god IOD is so back in my mind focus. i hate this world. i will eat it. so many character designs. there has been. SO much rework done on this world and im so happy because i can finally understand whats happening (IN MY OWN WORLD!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!)

on another note how thr?????hell has iod been around for NEARLY THREE YEARS#/#///#//???? gross. also, i might post another doodle dump later today. i have like 300 things on queue (exagguration) aaaa

Permanence in a currently being worked on story is so hard to keep.

If you told me like, two years ago how much I've changed for one of my main stories I'm pretty sure he'd flip out

I had to teach myself to not be so attached to ideas especially considering how quickly they might fall out of relevance ����

the ONE BIG THING THEY DONT TELL YOU WHEN YOU START WRITING is that you gotta be OKAY with deleting and editing. Not just prepared for it, not steeling yourself enough for it, you have to be OKAY with it. It has to be NORMAL. You have to go into it thinking that EVERYTHING is a rough draft that will be part of a CONTINUOUSLY EVOLVING piece.

And I mean this in every part of writing.

I’ve spent HOURS stuck on sentences I didn’t want to revise, chapters I didn’t want to admit didn’t fit into my narrative, even whole PLOTLINES that I had previously mapped out.

The point is, if you’re stuck because it feels wrong, it feels wrong for a reason.

and as a writer, you have to be used to the thought that not every idea needs to be there. because that’s how you end up refining the story you want to tell.

Hi Tumblr Newbies,

The inevitable new influx of people means a roundup of folks talking about "we don't have an algorithm here," "you NEED to reblog things," etc. and I would just like to offer some actually helpful advice.

One of tumblr's best assets is that it offers you multiple algorithmic feeds, including not having one at all. If you are on mobile, you will notice a "following" tab, followed by a "for you" tab, which is algorithmically generated. "Following" only includes posts from people you follow, in reverse chronological order. That's it. The vast majority of tumblr users prefer it this way, as we predate algorithms.

If you are new and looking to expand what you're finding quickly, you can browse under the algorithmic feed and tweak it once you've followed a few blogs and liked a few things - under "settings," you can choose to have posts related to your likes, or the likes of people you follow.

However - again, most users on this website do not use the algorithm. It's for that reason that reblogging posts is of such importance here. Liking a post is an appreciated sign of goodwill, but for the majority of users, it will not boost the post. Many of use use likes just as a save folder.

So if you genuinely like something you see on here, I encourage you to reblog it, because that is the only way the post will continue to spread around. Almost everyone started their blog with a theme they were loathe to ruin with an unrelated reblog, but by now most of us are just streams of consciousness showing each other things we find funny or interesting, and if you view your blog the same way you will have a much more enjoyable experience.
