Made some sprite sheets for Confection Castle!
Made some tweaks to the designs for some characters or completely redesigned some (For example, Uncle Candiesworth is now a cough drop, Gumther is now jello, and Granny was redesigned to look the part of a CEO's assistant). Some characters are completely original that you might be seeing for the first time here, and maybe I will expand more on their purpose in the AU later. Gonna make a part 2 for more sprites soon when I can!

And yes it's still canon that Teddy is transmasc.

Y'know, something just clicked in my head about Lancer, thanks to something i read in the tags on a reblog (thank you, @commiedalek-blog!):
How Non-Human are Non-Human Persons/N.H.P.s?
For instance: Would they have likes or hobbies like many humans do?
Does the ever-eager and bloodthirsty Sehkmet-Class N.H.P. in someone's mech secretly watch cheesy TV-Dramas as a guilty pleasure, or does it communicate in auditory hallucinations: The growl of a chain-axe, the splattering hiss and shriek of rending metal and coolants from a struck enemy, and the insatiable, ever-ready rumbling afterwards?
Does the Osiris-Class N.H.P. partnered to someone communicate in staticky flickers of code on nearby monitors, whispering a binary chant only its "Chosen" could hear? Or does it act like a sh#t-posting gremlin and rib the ever-loving Hell out of its "follower" when they mess up in a small way?
In a way, it reflects the sort of character you want to play: A more serious take would lean more into just how Non-Human an N.H.P. can be, while a more lighthearted take would lean on them being surprisingly human, for all their power and potential horror.
It's always a fascinating question to ask and answer, whether you're the player fleshing out your character and how they interact with N.H.P.s, or the GMs setting up interesting plot-hooks and missions involving them.

#grannyscandydish This #detail from a #French Robe à la Française, c. 1770 reminds me of the striped #ribboncandy my #granny always put out in a #depressionera glass dish at the holidays. None of the kids would touch it but it sure was pretty to look at! Via @metmuseum

I have a hypothesis that folk- and crone magic (respectively) would work well within popular culture witchcraft. No, really.
Tumblr media
I've got some research and thinking to do on the idea, but all I need to do is write up the conventions, correlations, and the beginning of construction (this isn't a one-and-done paper endeavor, this is like doing doctoral level work in folklore, but for fun).
I got this book and flipped first to the "Inscriptions of Power" chapter:

(Crone's Book of Charms & Spells by Valerie Worth)
And I'm seeing how popculture witchery has great potential using crone magic (and folk magic) intentions. This isn't a matter of creation, but of revealing some unexplored practices.
I want to detail my study on my other wordpress blog and I'll post here as I do. This is a teaser post, but I literally just now gave words to nebulous thought.

(Jessica Fletcher: a crone avatar I never thought to incorporate in my practice beyond a quick reference)

I love the casual sadism of Hannibal flipping a fucking coin to decide whether to save Bella. Hmm, do I want to torment Bella or torment Jack?

"Why thank you, I appreciate you, dear---you're free to use that settee anytime you wish next time." Despite her gloomy appearance, the witch seem to be a very warm shop keep. Motioning her head toward the old fashioned, but well kept sofa that was decorated with throw pillows. These chairs did comfortable though, in fact they sort of fit in her shop.
"I'll be happy to join for a sit--" And there goes the teapot whistling again, levitating it over her way with two cups and sauces. "Would you like a cup of tea too? It have ginger and peach."
