as much as I love the common "Tim worships/stalks Jason" trope in TimJay fanfiction because it's Good and making Tim a weird little freak is Fun, I think the underutilized dynamic is where Jason is the one weirdly obsessed with Tim and makes it Tim's problem.

Like, the moment Jason is confronted with the information that a third Robin exists, the first thing he does is cover his wall with pictures of Tim so he can just obsess and torture himself over it. That is the behavior of a man who is Unwell over Tim's existence and I love it.

And as much as a shitshow as The Titans Tower Incident™ is characterization-wise (though I think it has far more merit in depicting Jason's character than people give it credit for but I digress-) there's something very fun about the fact that even after kicking his ass, Jason respects Tim and is impressed by him.

And on top of that, Jason can't seem to stop trying to ask Jason to Tim to work with him in some capacity.

batman: battle for the cowl #2

While Battle for the Cowl is an exceptionally bad comic, especially for its characterization of Jason and the "be my Robin" bit is taken deeply out of context, I do think it's interesting how obsessed Jason is with believing that Tim is extremely competent, only held back by being "brainwashed by Bruce". (hence him leaving Tim for dead later on in the comic.) Jason seeing a darker side of Tim and wanting to bring that out of Tim, wanting to see what Tim could be if he let go of his loyalty to Bruce is so fun to me, tbh.

And in Robin #177, Jason seems genuinely upset Tim doesn't want to work with him. Jason sees such a raw potential in Tim and is obsessed with it, constantly wanting Tim to work for him and see Tim be the type of person Jason is. And despite Tim rejecting him, Jason doesn't shoot to kill Tim. I just cannot get over the fanfic potential of Jason obsessing over Tim, tracking him and seeing what he's capable of and what he could be capable of. Wanting to make Tim see things the way he does. To Tim it's corruption, to Jason it's freedom. Tim trying to 'save' Jason is fun and all, but Jason trying to corrupt Tim? That's even more fun to me. Watching that power struggle between them, Tim unable to get Jason off his heels as Jason gets more and more possessive and bold with each attempt.

And when Jason sees Tim successfully get Gotham back under control after a gang war, he's impressed. He praises Tim, even. And then Tim just. Breaks him out of prison.

robin (1993) #182

The way they're constantly trying to see something in the other that isn't there, hoping the other will come around? That is the most fucked up hate/love dynamic ever. Jason keeps coming back to Tim, keeps trying to find ways to get Tim onto his side. They're always chasing each other. And I think Jason would be the one to confess love first, the one to do anything to make Tim his. And when you consider after all of this, Tim has his Red Robin arc and is at his lowest, getting the closest he ever gets to considering murder? I think it'd be so fun to see Jason take advantage of that and worm his way back into Tim's life and finally push Tim over the edge.

My favorite part of today is that when Daniel came by our grandstand during the driver’s parade, he further riled up the crowd (already fairly hyped up because Max was in front of it doing his interview) by throwing his arms up to make the crowd whoop and kept doing it on repeat because the orange army was YELLING for him, and he did it all the way through the grandstand and he was so smiley and having so much fun

Angie get bent? Like over by isles or something bad in the timeline that is our stupid reality?

Oh no, we’re forgetting the ancient lore. (Though, you’re forgiven, because I think three queer people and my grandparents watched this show and it *is* from 2010-2016.)

Angie Harmon famously denied there were any queer undertones to this show, despite her insane acting choices (????) and got angry with fans who held onto this narrative. Like, really doubled down on the “there is nothing but family love between Jane and Maura” card. (During this time, she also attended the RNC and spoke about the sanctity of marriage…) She was a denier to the point of discomfort. Which was weird, because was she not watching the same show we were??? I know she’s just acting what was written, but her face (and hands!) didn’t get the memo. She has a pattern of this kind of behavior, too. Don’t get me started on Women’s Murder Club…

Sasha Alexander, on the other hand, loved the idea and definitely supported fans who thought that Jane and Maura were madly in love. She has talked about it in interviews somewhere but I’d have to do a deep dive to find the sources and I’m typing this with one eye open, still in bed. She also stopped interacting outside of the show with Angie during this. (I’m pretty sure, at least?)

Overall, clown behavior on Angie Harmon’s part. I mean, for goodness sake, the whole ending (can you ‼️ spoiler alert ‼️ a nearly 10-year-old show??) is Jane chasing Maura to Paris—on Maura’s miles! They nearly raise multiple babies together. Jane can’t marry Casey because it would take her too far away from Maura. Maura considers moving to Maine and Jane immediately says she’ll give up her very tight-knit family dynamic to go with her. Maura’s crime boss bio dad threatens Jane because he knows it’ll get Maura’s attention. Maura meets her bio mom and when she disappoints Maura, Jane goes up one side of her and down the other. Jane’s mom lives with Maura. There’s a scene where Maura thinks she might be attracted to Jane’s brother because he’s an attractive chess master and it turns out that Jane taught him everything she knew and Maura gets this look on her face and Jane smirks and Maura’s attraction to Tommy is never brought up again. And this is just what I remember off the top of my head. I could name a hundred more examples, but I’m tired.

Anyway, “get bent” not in a fun way. Very much in a “Angie Harmon you were not watching the show you were acting in and there are legions (read: six) queer people mad at you about it” way.

The best way to stay sane rn is to just remember that executive orders, even when they are written very carefully with strong legal counsel, are not very difficult to overturn, and are, and i cannot emphasize this strongly enough, NOT LAW. Their main purpose is for regulation of internal governmental affairs within the confines of existing law. They can also be, like, instantly dismissed by the next president.

Your better bet right now is keeping an eye on your states policies. Many state policymakers are being emboldened by trumps exec orders and are taking advantage of a distracted, confused, and politically disengaged constituency to try to pass vile shit at the state level. Many red state governments are also insanely understaffed and easy to overwhelm with calls and emails (I would know, I work for one).

Keep an eye on proposed bills in your states, and, if you feel safe doing so, talk to the moderate republicans and libertarians in your family or other circles; emphasize the devaluation of the consitution, the abuse of our political systems, and the encroachment into personal privacy and freedoms. Speak their language, as it were. These people are far more likely to actually call their reps and be taken seriously as a part of the core voter base. Make calls posing as a Republican voter yourself with these same tactics if you think you can pull it off; they're more likely to value the opinion of those they share a platform with. Look into their backgrounds, see what their origins are, play to that.

Just dont obey in advance, okay? Especially if you don't even know what you're obeying.
