Angie get bent? Like over by isles or something bad in the timeline that is our stupid reality?
Oh no, we’re forgetting the ancient lore. (Though, you’re forgiven, because I think three queer people and my grandparents watched this show and it *is* from 2010-2016.)
Angie Harmon famously denied there were any queer undertones to this show, despite her insane acting choices (????) and got angry with fans who held onto this narrative. Like, really doubled down on the “there is nothing but family love between Jane and Maura” card. (During this time, she also attended the RNC and spoke about the sanctity of marriage…) She was a denier to the point of discomfort. Which was weird, because was she not watching the same show we were??? I know she’s just acting what was written, but her face (and hands!) didn’t get the memo. She has a pattern of this kind of behavior, too. Don’t get me started on Women’s Murder Club…
Sasha Alexander, on the other hand, loved the idea and definitely supported fans who thought that Jane and Maura were madly in love. She has talked about it in interviews somewhere but I’d have to do a deep dive to find the sources and I’m typing this with one eye open, still in bed. She also stopped interacting outside of the show with Angie during this. (I’m pretty sure, at least?)
Overall, clown behavior on Angie Harmon’s part. I mean, for goodness sake, the whole ending (can you ‼️ spoiler alert ‼️ a nearly 10-year-old show??) is Jane chasing Maura to Paris—on Maura’s miles! They nearly raise multiple babies together. Jane can’t marry Casey because it would take her too far away from Maura. Maura considers moving to Maine and Jane immediately says she’ll give up her very tight-knit family dynamic to go with her. Maura’s crime boss bio dad threatens Jane because he knows it’ll get Maura’s attention. Maura meets her bio mom and when she disappoints Maura, Jane goes up one side of her and down the other. Jane’s mom lives with Maura. There’s a scene where Maura thinks she might be attracted to Jane’s brother because he’s an attractive chess master and it turns out that Jane taught him everything she knew and Maura gets this look on her face and Jane smirks and Maura’s attraction to Tommy is never brought up again. And this is just what I remember off the top of my head. I could name a hundred more examples, but I’m tired.
Anyway, “get bent” not in a fun way. Very much in a “Angie Harmon you were not watching the show you were acting in and there are legions (read: six) queer people mad at you about it” way.
(Wow, this is a long response. Sorry.)

So, I sent an e-mail to my mom, dad, and sister about yesterday’s work shenanigans, and I’m just going to copy and paste it here and take out people’s full names. ‘L’, fyi, is the husband, and ‘C’ is the wife.
I’m pretty positive the business is utterly fucked. I’ve wondered for a while how badly off they are, but this meltdown kinda’ says to me that the ship is sinking, and it’s sinking fast.
Yeeaaaahh...I know we've all suspected this for a while, but the clinic is definitely going under. Or, at least, they're very concerned it's going under.
So, yesterday, I had something of an inkling that shit might have gone down upstairs based on things I overheard, but I didn't think much of it because I had my own shit to worry about and because there's always drama upstairs. M (the PA-C I mentioned to you guys) didn't come in yesterday, and he tells me this morning that he's glad he didn't, because he'd heard that L had gone apeshit. He didn't really know any details, just that there'd been some impressive pyrotechnics upstairs.
Later I was talking to R, one of the MAs, and asked him what the hell had happened. He told me L came completely unhinged, went storming into the nurse's station, spewing f words, telling them it was his fucking business, if they didn't like the way things were done, they could pack their shit and get out--just ripping everyone a new one. R said he had never seen him so mad. He said 90% of the problem is P (one of the secretaries), which doesn't surprise me, and won't surprise Maegan. She is constantly at the center of all the issues upstairs, and likes to stoke the fire and cause problems. However, she has crawled so far up C’s ass that she can no longer be considered a separate entity, so they just keep her despite how many issues she causes. She got into it with R yesterday, which is what started it. R works for B, one of our nurse practitioners. One of her patients called in half an hour after her appointment to say that she was running late--now, it's always been pretty standard that if a patient is that late, they're going to need to be rescheduled because it'll screw up the whole schedule. And B is INSANE about her schedule and anyone messing with it. So P tells R that he needs to put this patient in; he tells her he's not doing it till he's talked to B to see whether she's ok with that, or whether or not she wants them rescheduled. P told him that he'd either put the patient in, period, or she'd go tell L. (This is elementary school, after all.) He eventually just ended up putting the patient in (the lady was apparently an hour late when all was said and done, so I'm sure B was thrilled), and then L came to R and said, "I heard there was a problem with this patient?" R told him there wasn't, that the patient had been put in, etc. L said P had told him there was an issue with getting this patient put in the schedule.
I'm not entirely sure how it escalated from here; but the potential rescheduling of the patient was apparently the root of the rant. After screaming at them about how they could pack their shit and get out if they didn't like the way he did things, he then started screaming about how they were losing money because no one wanted to work, that he was going broke because of this shit, etc., etc. (I assume the 'no one wants to work' thing was aimed at the fact that the aforementioned nurse practitioner calls in sick ALL THE TIME, and another lady who only works Thursdays to take the place of Dr. G, who is off that day, comes in more like once or twice a month instead of every week). They were all then told that if any patient is rescheduled for any reason whatsoever next week when L and C are on vacation, whoever has rescheduled them will be fired on the spot (which is a bit grandstanding, since you can't be fired on the spot if the boss isn't even there). After this, B's last patient of the day was fifteen minutes late; she told R that if they didn't show up in five minutes, to just reschedule them for another day. He told her he couldn't and had to explain to her what had happened. I said to R that it's like walking on eggshells around L lately, worried you're going to say the wrong thing (and with no idea of what the wrong thing even is), and he said it's the same upstairs.
I told M (the new PA-C) what had happened, and he said he'd caught C crying in her office several times, obviously stressed about everything. He told her if it's that big of a deal, and it's worrying her that much, why have the Bentleys and the Ferraris and the fancy clothes and expensive watches? None of that is a necessity. (That's another rant for another time re: the fact that they're so financially stressed out L is constantly losing his shit over stuff that is a perfectly legitimate thing for employees to do, and they'll take away everyone's benefits, but they won't cut back on their very expensive lifestyle. Maegan had like $30 to spend on groceries some weeks, but oh God, how horrible it would be to give up my fancy douche car!! The tragedies never cease!!)
To be perfectly honest, L can go fuck himself. It's not the fault of the MAs that they've made shitty business decisions. They're lucky it's taken this long for stuff to start biting them in the ass. And even now that he's stressed out about their finances, he keeps doing stupid shit. He nearly canned a doctor (and they most definitely can't afford to lose any more doctors) over a stupid-ass political opinion that wasn't even aimed at him. He keeps people on who create the vast majority of the issues upstairs just because they do a good job licking his ass, and then bitches and moans that there are so many problems upstairs. I get that it's nice to have your asshole tickled, but Jesus Christ, exercise your common sense. They still have four secretaries and as many MAs as they did when we had twice as many doctors. They were going to fire one MA because apparently they've had a lot of complaints about her, and then B (who's worked with her for a while) threw a big fit and refused to work with her replacement. So not only did they keep this incompetent lady on, they still hired her replacement. L pays people to be terrible at their jobs. He has a cleaning guy that's worked there for at least a few years now, and so far as I can tell, the guy empties the garbage cans and calls it good. One of the lab techs and I were just talking about this the other day; the floors are filthy. They clearly have not been swept or mopped ever since this guy starting working. The only time they get cleaned is when an employee spills something and wipes it up. The lab tech (who gets there early in the morning) says that often she has to replace the toilet paper rolls in the bathroom, which is supposed to be done after hours. She's found CRAP on the toilet that was never cleaned, and when she tells L, he's just like, "Oh, I guess he didn't have time to get to it." She says she messes up little things just to see if it gets cleaned (flicking water on the mirror in the bathroom to see if it's been wiped off; it never is).
It's a mess. Please some deity help me get my ass out of here as fast as possible.
