rambles about the black blade under the cut because i’m fascinated by that dumb little weapon
a picture of it features within the black book (shown in killer track) so it most likely existed around the time the book was written or it could have even existed before. this thing is probably around as old as the book. maybe willabella helped create it too.
we know that the black blade is the only thing that can kill miss holloway, it completely bypasses her curse/deal. we know that it can also kill wilbur cross as miss holloway used it on him in the witch and the web. it potentially could be the only thing that kills him too, but there’s no confirmation on that. wilbur is a strong sorcerer, it’s likely that he also has some kind of immortality too
i like to think of it as something forged from the black and white itself. it’s a piece of shrapnel from the black and white, a fragment. that’s the only thing that makes sense to me for it to bypass the lords in black’s gifted immortality. i like to imagine that it’s so dark and shadow-y that light can’t even reflect off of it.
i’m wondering if the disciples automatically wield it? like is it something the lords bestow to them directly? do the lords have any control of it? can it be summoned by the book? does wilbur always wield the blade? and in the timelines where miss holloway kills him, does she just wrestle it away? or are there others where she acquires it by different means?
my assumption is that wilbur does hold onto it in the same vein that miss holloway usually is the one with the book. there may be some timelines where they each have the other, but typically he has the blade, she has the book. i don’t know, it makes sense to me if the blade is something passed from the lords to wilbur cross, especially if they have a desire to erase holloway from the playing field
we don’t know anything about what their fights look like. it could be a lot of spell slinging, maybe they wait to strike in the shadows when the other is distracted so it’s over quickly, it could be a full on physical brawl. we don’t know. i feel like it always devolves to fighting over the blade and then trying to get a stab in. i do think it’s interesting that these two are such powerful magic users, but their big fight will always come down to who can get a grip on a knife.
a headcanon i have for the blade is that, when you die because of it, your soul is instantly pulled to the black or drowsytown where you will essentially remain forever. maybe in a deep slumber where there’s nothing or maybe you’re tortured for eternity. could depend on who you are. and that’s why it can permanently kill holloway, because it traps her soul and prevents her from resurrecting.
another is that even one little slice is enough to kill you. not right away, but if it draws blood, it will eventually kill you like some poison or rot. (this is completely stolen from the mechanics of death’s scythe from supernatural) you can use it to kill like any knife, but one scratch is all that’s really needed (tho i’m sure they often make sure the other is dead, beyond just a small cut, like how wilbur eats holloway’s heart in one timeline) maybe the black and white slowly devours your soul or it’s poisoning your body in order to snatch your soul. i feel like there’s so much angst potential and it could make the fights more interesting because it makes them more careful. they can’t be as risky in the fear that a random swipe could end them.
i just really want more lore on this thing, but who knows if we’ll ever get it

I’m watching one piece, and now I’m wondering do you have any hcs on the world building in the fairy tail universe ? Do you think theirs some crazy kingdom’s , advanced technology in some lands ? Love to hear your thoughts 💗
hmmmmmmmmmmm kinda a bit of a deep question tbh.
Structurally FT has good bones for its world. And that's kinda it lol
There's a fleshed out map of all the countries within the continent that fiore is found on (Ishgar, which has 16 named countries apart from fiore itself) and expanding wider than that we know that there are about 3 named continents (Ishgar to the east being a peninsula connected to the mainland that we know nothing of, Alakitasia to the west where Alavarez is and Guiltina to the north) and a fourth unnamed continent further east that exists within earthland.
But while we have all this info, nothing in particular comes into play as the series had progressed, the majority of the series' arcs all more or less take place within the same country, which for a series that has it's characters constantly travelling for missions looks particularly bad, especially when even the known locations all visually seem indistinct from each other in terms of stuff like architecture. It's a reason why I appreciate edolas in particular because it at least offered something that visually stood out and an insight into how that culture functioned. (and in Phoenix Priestess for the small montage the squad in the city of Rose Garden and showing a bit of the country Veronica)
Like it is frustrating to me whenever I think on it because the solution would be just to change the locations of where they travel to just to expand the background of the places travelled, wouldn't even have to change arc structures or anything to give some life to the named countries like:
Joya despite its small size as a country is the main manufacturers of trains and exports the majority of the transportation other countries use as well as weapons. Wizards are less found here, with treasure hunting being a more popular job choice.
Sin, despite the ironic name, is a deeply religious and faith driven country. Magics that have connection to nature and celestial bodies are particularly revered here.
Desierto mostly deals with trade, having constantly active shipping ports. Enchanted items such as brooms and carpets are popular and easy transport choices within cities and are more widely used than vehicles.
Iceberg's largely uninhabited due to the weather with most of the population sticking closer to the country's borders.
Like this is all just purely flavour text examples to just try and bring some life to these otherwise lifeless locations but you get the general gist of it.
There was clearly this effort to establish these locations by giving then names (and drawing a full on map) so it always boggled me that they were never properly used as a backdrop for the arcs within the story. (Tower of Heaven? Move that arc to Sin, Lucy's arc with Loke? Takes place in Stella, That arc with the giant village? Put it in Minstrel).
Like shifting around major arc locations would easily open up avenues to naturally expand the world as the story moves. And not even just big arcs, but smaller less grand filler arcs (which jesus christ did ft rlly need because it defs need breathing room between all the big events. It's why the story moves at such a breakneck speed without things really feeling as though they've changed in any meaningful ways) would do wonders to make earthland feel like a genuine lived in world (like how it is within the world of one piece that you cited as an inspo for this ask.)

THEY BUFFED D'EON WITH A BUSTED BUFF REMOVAL RESIST, HER SKILL IS A PARTY WIDE ENTIRELY TURN BUFF. I'm surprised they gave such a buff to dD'eon, honestly, but I'm glad their giving these older servants buffs!
I hope maybe they'll buff her np next. It's so outdated, maybe a defense up buff to leen into the taunt thing she has going on with her third skill oh and they could also give her a hp recovery up thing for her too or maybe hp recover per turn!

Day 602: So, funny thing that happened when the Advanced Quest with Vritra first dropped two or three months ago. I thought that it would be doable to finish her off (with Siegfried, of course) while two of the conditions to defeat her were met.
I was wrong. 🥲

Doing some Solo Rolls on GudaGuda Rotating Banner
WHAT THE HECK!
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!
FGO, I just want to MLB the 4* Event CE cause it is the trio of Oryou, Izo & Ryouma.
Instead I get Shinsengumi Vice
Tumblr media
Not just once either. In an almost back to back singles for one more copy of a 4* CE, this happened.
Tumblr media
Hijikata was like: “Oh, hey. You have all of the summonable Shinsengumi corps (technically). Guess I got to step up as vice commander and make an appearance.”
*Appears with Rainbow Sparks*
Hijikata again in a snap decision: “Hm? Am I not strong enough to represent the corps? Guess I can do a small boost”
*Second Copy Appears*
Hijikata is one of those units that I was impassive about when he first appeared and reoccurring banners he was in. Heck, the only spook I was going for is NP2+ Saito
Welp, at least my Chaldea will have a never ending supply of pickles/yellow radish.

@themoomoorn replied to your post “Genuine question, not trying to start a fight, why...”:
My favorite TS tidbit where you get the Golden Ending is that if you keep Roland safe, then the ideal goal is to not set poor Avlora on fire with Wolffort's fire traps, as that would be reprehensible. No, you don't use them there because the right thing to do is to instead use said traps on Exharme and his standing army! 🤦
But you see Exharme BaD Benedict said so !

I have an beloved one piece oc but she's from my au that is about Usopp leaving the crew at water 7 :D . After the crew (without usopp) reunite and continues their journey after fishman island, they find out Usopp is still a pirate and has a crew now, and apparently he's the captain???(not like he had any choice lol i have some ideas about it). Maybe between the arcs where the strawhats meets law and dressrosa happens, the crew and usopp has a surprise encounter with each other. Anyways my oc makes part of Usopp's crew and she is his precious little thing, they only have a few years old apart and act much like siblings <3

Hi, hope you are well in the afterlife. What exactly is going on with Eli Vanto and Grand Admiral Thrawn? I've heard a lot of gossip but I thought you'd have the inside scoop, so to speak. Are they like together... or what
Dear anon,
I regret to inform you that I cannot give a definitive answer as to whether Commander Vanto and Grand Admiral Thrawn are romantically involved at this point in time. I haven't seen either of them for years, as it seems both are still amongst the living, and I will be frank that with the exception of my mother, I've fallen rather behind about keeping in touch with my living contacts.
I can say that Commander Vanto and Grand Admiral Thrawn were very close in life and spent a great deal of time together. Granted, part of this was likely due to Vanto serving as Thrawn's personal interpreter. However, I believe they were certainly closer than one might expect based on that fact alone.
Now, I always found Thrawn rather difficult to read. He and Vanto weren't as openly affectionate as some other couples, though I doubt Thrawn would be particularly inclined towards excessive PDA as it was. He was much too dignified for that.
As far as Vanto is concerned, he did express a particular.... fascination, shall we say, with the Grand Admiral that surpassed what one might expect of a simple working relationship. The two of us were quite friendly with each other at a time. I suppose we connected over coming from "backwater" planets. He clearly had a very high opinion of the Grand Admiral which he expressed to me at times. And he did mention to me once that he favored men with red eyes, who were in short supply in the Empire.
Then, there was one occasion during a group retreat to Niamos in which Motti suggested we play "kriff, marry, kill". During one round, I mentioned for the sake of the game only that I would kriff Thrawn if given the choice between Thrawn, Grand Moff Tarkin and Admiral Screed. I didn't think anyone cared about my answer. Then, I woke up in the middle of the night to find Vanto sneaking around my bed with a vibroblade. He later denied the incident, which made me wonder whether it was a nightmare of sorts, but I am now quite sure that it did indeed happen.
So, that is all the evidence I have on the matter. If anyone is more informed than me, I would be happy to hear what they have to say on the matter. I will say I am unfortunately not very savvy in terms of discerning romance, as evidenced by the fact that about half of the Empire apparently though General Maximilian Veers and I were married at a time when I didn't even think we were dating.
-Admiral Piett
