Someone asked a library worker what floor a subject was on while I was waiting for the (30) books I had on hold, and I answered without thinking. And I was correct. This may say bad things about my social life.

My love language is putting together google drive folders where I share all of my research resources, tenderly grouped into subfolders and featuring a perfectly formatted annotated bibliography. May or may not be putting one together rn after my friend expressed interest in medieval texts on magic and may or may not be in the process of uploading my high-quality scans of beautiful primary sources.

Collaborative Writing: Tips for Co-Authoring Research Papers
Collaborative research is an integral part of academic work, and co-authoring research papers is a common practice in the scholarly community. By combining the expertise of multiple individuals, you can produce high-impact research. However, successful collaborative writing requires effective communication, coordination, and a shared commitment to the project. In this blog, we'll explore valuable tips to ensure the success of co-authoring research papers.
Define Roles and Responsibilities Before embarking on a collaborative research paper, it's essential to clarify the roles and responsibilities of each co-author. This includes determining who will lead the project, who will conduct data analysis, and who will be responsible for writing and editing. A well-defined division of labor sets clear expectations from the outset.
Establish Clear Communication Open and effective communication is at the heart of successful collaboration. Ensure that all co-authors are on the same page regarding the research objectives, timelines, and milestones. Regular meetings, both in-person and virtual, can help maintain transparent and ongoing communication.
Choose the Right Tools In today's digital age, there are numerous collaborative tools available that facilitate co-authoring research papers. Consider using platforms like Google Docs, Dropbox Paper, or specialized reference management software (e.g., EndNote or Zotero) to streamline the writing and revision process.
Set a Timeline Develop a timeline that outlines the key milestones, from data collection to manuscript submission. Having a clear schedule ensures that the project progresses smoothly and that all co-authors are aware of deadlines.
Respect Each Other's Expertise Each co-author brings a unique set of skills and knowledge to the table. Respect and acknowledge the expertise of your collaborators. This mutual respect can enhance the quality and depth of the research.
Collaboratively Plan the Structure Work together to plan the structure of your research paper. Decide on the order of sections, headings, and subheadings. This planning stage can help maintain a consistent and coherent narrative.
Establish Authorship Order Determine the authorship order, keeping in mind the conventions of your field and the contributions of each co-author. It's essential that authorship reflects individual contributions rather than seniority.
Data Sharing and Management Ensure that all co-authors have access to the necessary data and research materials. Establish data management and sharing protocols to maintain transparency and accountability.
Review and Revise Collectively Collaboratively review and revise the manuscript. Encourage co-authors to provide constructive feedback and be open to making revisions. This iterative process is key to improving the quality of the paper.
Address Disagreements Constructively Conflicts and disagreements may arise during the collaborative process. Address these issues constructively, ideally through open discussions and compromise. It's necessary to assert a positive functioning relationship.
Proofreading and Editing Consider professional proofreading and editing to ensure the paper's language, grammar, and style are of the highest quality.
Plan for Authorship Agreements Before submission, create a clear authorship agreement that outlines the roles, author order, and expectations for all co-authors. This consent can serve as a extract point in case of debate or disagreements.
Acknowledge and Cite Contributions Properly acknowledge and cite the contributions of each co-author in the paper. Ensure that all individuals who contributed significantly are appropriately recognized.
Collaborative writing can be a rewarding experience, leading to the creation of impactful research. However, it requires commitment, communication, and a shared vision. By following these tips, you can navigate the challenges of co-authoring research papers and produce high-quality work that advances knowledge in your field.

As per usual every few months, it looks like my planned video is going to be postponed, and by extension all the others I had planned after it. This is why YouTubers are typically ex-grad students instead of current ones.

a freshly human bill AU where he struggles with eating... not because the fear of medication or the texture or the act of eating is troubling... but because the taste is all wrong now.
Everything tastes off now, things he knows taste good aren't anymore, and it's all because the last time Bill had access to living taste buds was when he was inside Ford Pines, and Ford Pines is a freak who eats concerningly old expired food like starving raccoon and drinks coffee that can double as motor oil
the billford kicks in trying to find foods Bill actually likes idk not important, what is important is what is WRONG with Ford's palate

finding out ur coworker is way older than you thought and having to very quickly reorient how you talk to them
#art#traditional art#watercolour#fanart#synthv#synthesizer v#genbu#kasane teto#rikka is also here :) i think she likes to cause problems sometimes. because all the adults in her life are dweebs#and very easy to cause problems with <3#anyone else have this happen before. im older than a lot of my university peers and i always have been#because i took 5 years in highschool and my undergrad has been like 6 years and counting#(hashtag learning disability <3 ) and like thats chill to me i dont mind#but now i usually assume everyones way younger than me and i get shocked when theyre not. a buddy in some of my classes#when i first met her i absolutely and completely assumed she was like barely 19 and talked to her as such#like i dont talk down to people or anything but i do soften the way i talk a bit and give a bit extra patience with younger peers#cause yknow. i remember what it was like being 19. being 26 is WAY easier lol so i wanna give em a bit of leeway yknow#anyway a few months after meeting her i found out she was actually a year older than me and a grad student when she ended up as a TA in#another class i took. i felt so bad. we bonded tho and she didnt mind she thought it was kinda funny when i was like WAIT UR A GRAD STUDENT#i thought she was like a first or second year undergrad..............#also yeah im a 31yo teto fan. i dont mind the popular fanon that she has a separate age that makes her actually 15 and#i dont mind that more interpretations have her like that BUT for my internal canon she is a grown ass woman because i think its fun <3#she pays taxes. she goes to work parties. she can rent a car. i love it#let teto rent a car. let her rent a car.#yknow im exicted to be 31. i still got a few more years of being a 20 something which is fun. but being a 30 something sounds like it rules

getting out of a rut
my few days of regression were not significant to my journey at all. i'm aware that going backwards a little is something that always will happen when you are growing. i did so well in my first 10 days or so of productivity before i entered this. it overcame me and i just did not have any motivation to do anything. i wanted to lay in bed forever, not eat or study or go outside. it is so unlike me and it always makes me feel so inauthentic.
i have a bit of an odd coping mechanism to get out of a rut. i'm not sure how healthy it is but whenever i feel myself growing so horribly bored and tired, my main priority is to not mindlessly consume content. i choose a show (usually atla, since it only has three seasons) and for the following week or days, i watch it all. LET ME SAY THAT BINGE-WATCHING AND COMPROMISING SLEEP AND OTHER ACTIVITIES IS NOT GOOD. but, it allows me to realise that i cannot live like thar, and since i am watching with purpose, when the show ends, i return to my regular life.
this explanation is not very good, so in the future, i will better define what i go through and how i deal with it, hopefully, to help anyone who struggles with the same thing. my focus now is to continue my 100 days of productivity and finish the term on some wins.
love, joanne

ok this isnt meant to be a dig or anything but it's always really funny to me when people like just cracking 30 are like "omg you're in your early twenties, you're a babyyyyyy"
babe you're like barely 30, you're a baby too. You're a blink and a half older than me. I spend too much time around people over 50, the difference between 23 and 33 is a few years at a job and a little more distance from living in your parents' house but it's like, nothing. the gap closes every time you breathe and every time i move. the difference between you and me is like one-fifteenth the difference between you and my dad's friend Joe or whatever. don't worry you'll get to live more life too, but don't kid yourself.
and this is doubled when it's coming from a 25-year-old currently experiencing a crisis of age because they're soooo old, they're 25, the horror! You are twenty-five. We have an age difference of three years. Your concern over this is embarrassing for you and highly entertaining for me. But like don't kid yourself here. You are 25. You are a like a fucking baby to me.
#red rambles#when i was 18 all my friends were grad students#i think my youngest close "peer'' friend was 27#when i was 19 it was covid and almost all my friends were distant people i knew online and then the age gap between me and my oldest friend#got even wider!#when i was 20 i stayed with my grandma for several months and i'm still friends with a bunch of her friends! i got a standing invitation to#a neighbor's house to shoot the shit with her and she's like 55 and she's the youngest of the people in my grandma's social circle i'm all#buddy-buddy with!#i was learning new knitting tecniques from someone in her late 80s!#You are like a little baby to me watch this [hits on a man around three times my age] [hits on a woman almost three times my age] i'd say#im hitting on enbies 3x my age here but i actually haven't met any out enbies that old yet. i think the youngest nonbinary person i know is#their forties and that's just 2x#wait no. i do know someone. but i haven't hit on them. not gonna steal valor LOL#if ur a cool recently-retired californian i cannot recommend coming to [city removed] to come get hit on by a 23 year old nonbinary tboy#but i wouldn't say it's off the table LOLLL#anyway.#point made i believe.#i'm sure i'll hit the Age Crisis one of these days and start being like omg... you're so *young* because you are so Small Number...#but the one i run into is just Omg... You are so Fucking Immature why do you think this problem Matters... and that one i get from everyone#ill be sitting there chatting with like 70yo retired married couples and be stricken with waves of utter disgust bc they're too concerned#with their neighbors' opinions and think it constitutes a legitimate issue if someone does things too differently when there are like.#real problems in this world LOL
