missing barcelona and the sun right now

march caught me off guard, not gonna lie. there were so many things to do in february and it passed by so quickly.

now, I'm unfortunately still not ready to start my qualitative study. I have to work on the interview plan some more. I did apply for 2 conferences so that's nice. I also started to teach social psychology to 1st year students ✨

I hope that we'll get some nice weather soon 🖤

Got a ton of stuff done today, such as working for 6 hrs and doing a ton of homework.

Homework completed (and one incomplete) today:

1. Finish psychoneuroimmunology notes 📝✅

2. Read article and take notes for neuropsych presentation 📚📝✅

3. Read and take notes for fundamentals of clinical interventions 📚📝✅

4. Work on neuropsych assessment report👩‍💻 ✅

5. Read for neuropsych 📚✅

6. Read for psychotherapy seminar 📚✅

7. Start on neuropsych presentation slides 👩‍💻🚫

Thank god for coffee ☕️ , am I right?? Now it’s finally time for bed. 💤

So, apparently in my town there is currently some kind of celebratory event happening right now commemorating people who have a doctorate in the medical field. What is important to note is that I live in Finland and when a person gets a doctorate in Finland, no matter the field, they also get a cool top hat and an even cooler sword. This means that there are currently about 150 people wandering around my hometown looking something like this:

What I am getting out of this is that in my close proximity the change of the occurrence of an epic sword fight has just drastically gone up. The probability might be miniscule, but it's a tiny glimmer of awesomeness that shall nurture my sense of wonder today.

I am defending my doctorate in 2 weeks! I am so thankful to be so close to the finish line.

After the defense of my dissertation, I'll be submitting my dissertation to the library about 2 weeks later and then graduating in May!

I was also asked to go to one last conference so in May I will be presenting my work.

Then I will be working as a post doctorate for about two months while I look for work elsewhere where the goal will be to write and submit my final two journal articles and also continue with assisting in external project work.

And then on to a new job, new area, no school!!!!

barcelona, you were good to me

it was so nice to experience sunny days again after this gray, dark winter. I don't know, if seeing the sea will ever get boring to me 🖤

that was a perfect break from the work and academia. coming back to see my work final published was the cherry on top!

now, I need to send another paper to try and get it published. this semester I'll be teaching social psychology and working on my qualitative research, so that will be interesting

I have no interest of going to university ever again, however there's this MA/PhD programme in Sound Design in Berlin I'd be tempted to attend sometimes, I went to the rundgang in 2022 and liked it!

Alternatively I would consider computer science so I could pursue software engineering as a day job but ngl that's more of a backup plan I'd rather just have to pay the bills and am not actually interested in pursuing beyond having the possibility to work in most countries

The University of Montana held its spring commencement ceremony for the class of 2024 at the Adams Center. The ceremony was highlighted by performances, special presentations and a commencement speech by UM Alumni Lily Gladstone who received an honorary doctorate.
