DIY: Plain button-up shirt -> Gothic Valentine’s cuteness!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been obsessed with the art of Creepy Gals on Instagram (her shop is here), and I decided that this pink Old Navy shirt I thrifted months ago was a PERFECT candidate for a kitschy Valentine's gothic makeover!
All of the patches, except the anatomical heart, were sewn on by machine. The red lace trim was all sewn by hand so that I could use pink embroidery floss to create little heart-shaped stitches--I thought that up on a whim, and it turned out so cute!
Then it was time for buttons, and I especially love the heart-shaped button by the tooth patch and the two roses on the lapels. The cross and chain was another idea I thought of on the spot, and I think it works really well with the knife patch! The cross is sewn on with a couple stitches so that it won't come off if it gets pulled off the chain and will lay where I want it to.
I may add more to it in the future, but for now, I'm considering it finished.
Embroidered patches came from Hot Topic, knife and tooth patch came from ToothxNail, and fabric patches are just leftover fabric from my stash.

Let go of the idea that diy will inherently look shit. All your clothes are handmade you just don't see the people doing it.

I made some solarpunk soda tab jewelry!! Again. And I'm making more. (Image ID at the bottom of he post)

A choker, a pair of earrings, a belt/waist chain and some bracelets using 100% thrifted/recycled materials! The choker and the bracelets have two layers so that the sharp aluminum edges on the back of the tabs aren't making contact with skin, you can kinda see it in the pictures. Here are more pictures:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image ID: 8 images. The first one shows a choker made out of soda tabs, with black cord weaved through it forming x shapes. There's a silver spike charm hanging from every other tab about an inch apart from each other. Im in the picture wearing the choker, my face is not in frame but my pale as fuck neck is visible and so is my dark brown hair.
The second image shows a pair of clip-on earrings laying on a sage green background. Each earring is made of 6 soda tabs weaved into a flower shape with green yarn, and three dangles hanging from the bottom. The dangles are made of a wire link with a black bead on in and a silver spike charm hanging from that. The same spike charms I used for the choker.
The third image shows a 2 ft 7 inch long belt chain made of the soda tab flowers from the earring image. Each flower is made of six tabs weaved together with the same green yarn but they yarn fades to yellow towards the end of the chain. 16 soda tab flowers are linked together with large jump rings and there are large silver clasps on each end to attach to a belt.
The forth image is my hand wearing a black compression brace and two soda tab bracelets. They are weaved together the same way as the choker, with the cord forming x shapes, but the cord is orange and not black. The bracelets are the same size, 8 inches long when laying flat including the clasp. There are two layers of soda tabs which makes the bracelet a little thicker.
The next 2 images shows a dress form wearing the belt chain from two different angles. It had a black skirt with a soda tab belt, with various spikey chains hanging from it. There's a black strip of grommet tape hanging on the right side of the belt and my soda tab flower belt chain hanging on the left side.
The next image shows one of the bracelets at and angle so the double layers are visible, and the last image shows the bracelets, the choker, and an unfinished soda tab choker with green ribbon weaved through it all laying flat on a sage green background. End ID]

Pansy Leatherwork Goes International!
Hi! If you don't know me, I'm Hank, the dyke behind Pansy Leatherwork. I'm an independent, transfem leatherworker, and I am now shipping my work internationally!
I now have shipping set up through my site for Canada, the UK, EU countries, non-EU Europe, and Australia/Oceania/NZ. If your country isn't listed but you're interested in getting something sent, shoot me an email.
Everything I do is on sliding scale cuz if it's not accessible to the freaks I'm actually in community with, it's not worth doing; I also have custom options for just about all of my designs.
As always, the amount of support and positivity y'all show me just blows my mind :)

Alternative fashion styles are so interesting because they are a wonderful combination of fashion culture and music. I love goth music and i love goth fashion. The layers, the hair, jewelry, makeup and diy aspect. It's exactly what i want. The many different goth styles that there are (with a continuity among them) created with mostly black is an exercise in fashion.

never posted this build here, so let's go!
materials: $7 thrifted black cargo pants that fit me poorly, pieces of a safety vest, discarded fabric from fabscrap, straps & trims from other old stuff, screen printed patches
added: reflective grommet tapes to the side so the pants can be laced up and adjusted for a variety of sizing. back pockets, snaps to the side pockets, and other functional details. mesh panels & inserts in the seam to make them much more wide leg. D rings, straps, reflective trims, patches.

Latest DIY pants--patchwork and visible mending
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cute fabric scraps + Walmart jeans on clearance = fun pants you can customize to your liking
This is now my second pair of patchwork jeans, and they're Halloween-themed, just like the last pair. What can I say? I know what I like. Yes, the embroidery on the right pocket got a bit wonky because I didn't center it as well, so that poor bat is struggling, but I don't feel like fixing it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I had never done visible mending before, but I wanted to try it out. I chose more vintage-y feeling patterns for it. I intentionally chose bee fabric for one knee so I could have the bee's knees 😜
The visible mending pants are more colorful than I typically go for, and I did struggle to style them, but I think they're still neat.

Upcycled jewelry time ;) I had this leather zipper piece I harvested from an old purse and turned it into a spike bracelet 🌿⭐️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used some large sew-on snaps as closures and i added some charms to the zipper. It was a fun project and it helped me out of my art block a little bit :)
[Image ID: an 8 inch long and 2 inch wide black leather bracelet with a black zipper in the middle. The two segments when unzipped are about half and inch wide and each segment has seven half inch cone spikes lining them about an inch apart fron each other. Both the leather segments have white stitching along all the edges from when this zipper piece was attached to a purse. There are large silver snaps on the ends of the bracelet with black embroidery thread attaching them, and on the loop that the leather zipper pull is attached to, there's a large safety pin with beads on it. two black wooden beads and a big green plastic star bead in between them.

are you worried about being perceived as a poser in your local punk scene? My biggest tip is to not shove yourself into the little box of what you think a punk should be. The culture of punk should be diverse, that’s what makes it beautiful. You want to go to a show wearing all pink and cute dresses? fucking go for it!!! rock it! if anyone says anything to you about “not being punk enough” they are full of bullshit and are definitely projecting their insecurities onto you.

Friend wants to have demonia style boots but doesn't have the money or availability. Alt and goth fashion used to be diy and cheap. How could she do this now? Please share for reach and community knowledge in general cause the monetization of alt fashion is horrible
(Australian if that matters but all info will help honestly)
