Someone in our little server mentioned that we don't really know what happens when a demon dies:

And it got me thinking, which is dangerous, but also I'm operating on a layman's understanding of the physical world so don't, like, quote me on the science here.

We're told that Aria doesn't obey the laws of physics the same way that Elegy does, that it is a completely different system that's hard to explain. But, being human, we can only grasp concepts that abide by the laws we understand, so I was considering an analogous explanation.

On one hand, as a sort of disclaimer, there might not BE any conservation laws, the system might be so vastly different that analogies cannot be made, and when a demon dies the magic just ceases to exist. That's kind of boring to speculate about though, SO

Our universe, Elegy in context, is made up of matter, energy, and space. Matter comes in different forms depending on the amount of energy within it: solid, liquid, gas, plasma, and other stuff above my pay grade to understand. Those main ones are what I'll be considering.

We humans are walking forms of energy, solids, and liquids. Sorry for that picture.

Aria, we're told, is magic. Dæmons are also magic. While we might immediately and instinctively think of magic as an energy, I think it's not illogical to compare it with matter in this fictional context. Why? For one, dæmons exist as a physical presence in Elegy, which means that magic, at least in Elegy, exists as a solid. In addition, dæmons need energy from human emotions to sustain their form and use their magic, similar to the way that we need calories (energy) to sustain our forms and use our bodies (matter).

So if we consider dæmons, and magic by extension, as a form of matter, we can think of them as different phases of matter.

Aria and dæmons are both made of magic, but they're also separate and distinct from each other, so we can conceptualize Aria as a gaseous form while dæmons exist as a solid within that gas.

So, what's this mean for conservation of arcana and what happens when a dæmon dies? I posit that the magic they consisted of returns to Aria in a "gaseous" form, conserving the amount of magic within both universes, but losing the sapience and physicality of its former solid state in the process. That magic can then be recycled in the system by eventually coalescing as a new dæmon.

Now, this doesn't really consider where Sovereigns fit. Maybe they're one of those forms of matter above my pay grade. Maybe they're even further outside of our of understanding and cannot have an analogous equivalent.

It also can lead us down a path to understanding that while dæmons are analogous to matter, Hush is analogous to dark matter. Familiar to Vega in one way, but completely alien and wrong, the opposite of what he should be.

Hi!! No literally sorry... Like it's extremely dire for real, I'm pushing through it exclusively because Natlan so far is very Abyss related and my interest in genshin is extremely Kaeya-centric so anything Abyss related might come up again later with Khaenri'ah and such but so far it's like... Everyone in the main cast so far is ugly and whitewashed and the lore is confusing and the saurians also piss me off. Like. I was talking about this to my boyfriend too the other day but i feel like by keeping everything about Natlan under wraps for 4 whole years and then delivering something like extremely sub par and disappointing they did like the opposite of building hype for it like... for every other region we had little details sprinkled in since very early on and npc dialogue to go off of so we knew just enough about them to form a mild interest in the region before it came out but everything about Natlan feels very out of nowhere... I honestly just hope they let me see Kaeya and his ugly brother again soon or Childe because truly all i care about at this point are the same 3 characters i've been obsessed with since day 1. The only thing i'm interested in for now other than the Abyss stuff is Capitano because . He's been on my mind since the harbinger reveal teaser video dropped but i'm worried they're gonna fumble it with him too. In any case unless they improve the skin tone situation i won't be pulling on any banner for the foreseeable future even if i am and have been f2p since day 1 cause i hope their banners flop.

heheh ! thanks for asking anon :) Uusually I would base a winged au varient character's persanality on the bird species I'm giving them the wings of [Like I did w/ Ink [hummingbird] or Fresh [cuckoo]] but I chose Error's wings entirely on appearance alone, the nourthern jacana bird just Called to me fr fr </3. [these lovely birds have mostly ruddy red wings with bits of black spotted in, and then all the primaries and secondaries are these Lovely creamy yellows! absolutely stunning. They also have Real Yellow Spikes :)) [they're called spurs, and usually only used for fights within the species [rarely used to combat preditors]]] His personality is still based on a bird though! It's just Another bird, the Cracticus quoyi, or Black Butcherbird. This little sweetheart is known to impale it's prey on thorns for safekeeping and later eatings, and I just thought that screamed Error. He likes to hang up the souls as such, but also snacks and other such knickknacks in his web :D! [rather stressful to the dear Kestrel [blueberry] he kidnaps to be hung up by what seems to be a rather butcherbird like avian friend </3] He also likes taking naps higher up, and will make little hamocks and string swings to lounge around on; he's rarely ever on the anti-void floor proper, much preferring the elevated altitude of his strings.

idk dude like i do not care abt the pkmn company losing money becos they're being "ripped off" by palworld

(1. palworld will not outsell pkmn and its silly to think that 2. i want more competition for monster-collecting games becos the monopoly pkmn has has given us some unfinished, buggy messes)

its less abt pkmn designs being "ripped off" and more abt how unoriginal and slapped together the pals are. like it's honestly kinda a shame that the monsters in this new monster-collecting game don't really have their own identity. like when I look i them I dont think about palworld, I dont think of them as pals, I think of pokemon. Thats uh. not great imo?

its extra sucks becos I see the pals that are original and theyre good!! I usually really like those designs!! There was something there but the game relies too much on the familiarity of pokemon's designs and i just feel indifferent at best and kinda 😕gyeh at worst

im also comparing it to cassette beasts, another (very good) monster collecting game that appeals to me as a pokemon fan, but absolutely stands on its own and exists completely separate from pokemon because of its unique designs and unique takes on some pokemon formula things.

Like sorry to compare but: the beasts in cassette beasts are clearly identifiable and there's a design philosophy going on there. And although I can easily pick out a pal from a pokemon, I'm not thinking of the pal, im thinking of the pokemon parts its made from. honestly its just not great design imo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Watched the MLB movie finally! While I had a few Notes, all in all I enjoyed it, the animation was so pretty and I was really impressed how they condensed so much stuff into one movie
