Avoid framing Sam only as a caretaker or emotional support for Bucky. Be mindful of Sam acting angry or aggressive in an out-of-character way and falling into the angry/sassy Black man trope (check out the MCU source material to help with character traits).

Okay finally able to watch 4 Minutes ep 1.

I legit didn't realize how much I missed Bible until he was on screen, omg. Also, I NEED to know. That cat…is that one of BIBLE'S CATS? I'm sure there are like, trained TV cats, but somehow I feel it likely Bible would bring his own, yanno? I need a gifset of Bible and Cat ASAP.

I also have to say I do love this premise. I love that there IS a premise, yanno? Like an unrelated-to-romance premise.

And I like that Great is starting out in a not-a-great-person place, from what we can tell. Like from the partying and hit-and-run, though I will give some allowance for outright panic.

I was spoiled for this, from yanno, ALL THE GIFSETS that were the only reason I knew this show had aired, lol. So yeah, very interested in What It All Means. Super excited.

The imitating-the-head-movement thing is soo great, tbh, I wonder if he was directed to or if he did that on his own. There's some really brilliant "little acting" in this show that's just so very good. I rewatched the S2 finale, and that scene with Cathy (not her eyebrows!), when she has that discussion with Ma Mary, he's full on beaming at his mother's pathetic claims about how much she's missed him, face completely dropping at Mary's "well you did dump him here quite a long time ago!", the way he says "Mum's had a lot going on" - that was sooo nailing the abandoned child in denial about their parent's lack of affection, brilliant, but also Mary's reaction!! When her eyes stay on James for a second before going back to Cathy going on about her business, you can literally watch Ma Mary's heart break for him! Considering there's some quite silly slapsticky comedy and over the top physical stuff in there as well, in some moments we really get to see how much *serious* acting talent there's assembled in this cast! ("Serious" acting talend in addition to comic acting talent, which is obvious in practically every scene I mean)

yes, totally agree! there's some really, really top tier "little acting" from the entire cast (face acting, i think it's called? idk, don't quote me on that, i am not a trained actor).

in the same vein as the "little acting," the background acting in derry girls is just so excellent. i remember an interview with one of the main cast members where they talk about how tiring some of the long filming days would be because, even if they didn't many lines, they are always in the scene, reacting or doing something in the background. orla/louisa harland gets a lot of recognition for their/her background antics, but i think james/dylan llewellyn is really, really excellent with his background acting too. and, imo, it leads to a really rich text to work with as a fic writer and makes the show endlessly layered and rewatchable. i still feel like i pick up on new things when i revisit the show.

mine and @derrygirlstrash's fic, making moves, is grounded in only a look that erin gives james in the dark when the gang is sneaking into the protestant boys' room in 2x01. she's concerned about how she "doesn't have any moves," looks back at james anxiously, he very clearly notices, and then his next line is about how "boys like girls who are confident." like! why was she looking at him? had they talked about this together before? he's so quick to reassure her, to make sure she's not worried. boom - we wrote a fic about it.

or in 3x03, when james is about to sneeze on the train and erin is looking at him encouragingly, hoping she'll get to hear about his "hopes and dreams," and michelle is looking between the two of them like she suspects something, like whatever is about to happen needs to be stopped. did michelle really just happen on them kissing in 3x04 or had she been watching them for a while, seeing this develop right in front of her eyes and try to interrupt it? because i think it's fun, my headcanon is the latter and it's based literally on that one look in 3x03 alone. i'm not gonna write it, but someone give me a "5 times michelle suspected" fic!

there's just so much there if you've got an eye to it, so many spaces for fun ideas. it's the way i like to write and think about fic - to find those spaces in a source material, to find those opportunities within it to really explore what else could be there and to better understand who the characters are to themselves and to each other. imo not all source material has those spaces, but derry girls has it in spades.

One of my favorite things about Rogue Time, honestly, is the fact that that's the episode where I first realized that Cisco was actually important to Barry (tbh I think it’s the episode where Cisco first realized he was important to Barry, too).

Everything I saw about The Flash on Tumblr before I started watching the show (aside from Kurtbastian AU gifsets) had to do with either Westallen or Snowbarry, with some Coldflash and Olivarry thrown in as well, and I saw pretty much nothing about Cisco. And what with Iris being Barry's childhood best friend and Caitlin having a Hermione-esque energy (and Tumblr SERIOUSLY misleading me about what her relationship with Barry was gonna be like), I thought that Cisco was going to be basically a third wheel who's only there to make handy gadgets, name bad guys, crack jokes, and get yelled at when he's not being Serious™️ enough. I had absolutely no clue he was going to become Barry's best friend; I really thought he was just gonna be Some Guy that works with him.

So it was something of a surprise when Barry reacted the way he did to finding out that Cisco had been kidnapped. Then when Cisco is let go and he tells Barry that Captain Cold forced him to tell him his secret identity, I expected Barry to actually react to that news in some way. I expected him to be stressed, and maybe even a little mad/annoyed at Cisco, even if he didn't say so to his face and just gave him a polite, "the important thing is that you're safe", and then went all "that bitch actually sold me out" to Caitlin or Joe or Wells later (I feel like Clark did something like that on Smallville once, but I don't remember the circumstances, and I think that's what I based my expectations off of). But instead, Barry's concern was 100% for Cisco. He didn't get upset or put any kind of blame on Cisco; he just hugged him, told him he was sorry for putting him in a position where that could happen in the first place, and then worked out the matter of Captain Cold knowing his identity on his own—which involved telling him that if he ever hurt anyone he loved again, he would take him down and he didn't care how many people he told his real identity to. So even when he's running damage control, Cisco's safety still takes priority over his own anonymity.

Another thing I love about that situation is that it's one of many turning points in Barry and Cisco's relationship. One was in Captain Cold's first episode, another was after Flashpoint, and so on. This particular one showed us Cisco thinking Barry's life is more important than his own, and very likely thinking that he cared more about Barry than Barry did for him, considering the kind of relationship he has with Dante, the fact that he went his whole life up to this point thinking that Melinda Torres didn't love him back, and the fact that this episode comes right on the heels of us learning that the person Cisco admires the most and sees as a father figure is capable of killing him in cold blood without hesitation. Even though Cisco doesn't remember that timeline yet, we know he's used to having unrequited feelings for people, so it tracks that he would have the same expectations in his friendship with Barry. He's just happy to help from the sidelines, he doesn't need recognition for everything he does, so it doesn't even occur to him that Barry sees and appreciates his value and genuinely cares about him as a person, and not just the guy who patches up his suits. Once he does figure out that Barry values him, it gives him more security and confidence in their relationship, which results in him later getting more sarcastic with him, and being able to vocally disagree with him, without worrying that Barry will stop being his friend. And the longer the series goes on, the stronger their friendship grows, and the more comfortable Cisco becomes in challenging what Barry thinks, and because of this, Barry is able to grow more as a person as well—and it wouldn't even have been possible if he hadn't shown Cisco that he was important to him.

this is such a fun gifset! <333 Could you please explain how you made it? Like where you found these images and textures, how you created this white outline around the characters, which font you used etc. I hope that's okay to ask.

Yes of course it's okay Anon, I love to help with giffing when I can. We're gonna go through the Santana gif but I'll share the layers of Kurt and Rachel too to demonstrate that it's the same principle. And of course if you have any further questions please do ask.

So my comic book-style gif making started with the set before this one, Kitty's Paintbox Comeback set that's more like my most recent Quinntana hallway fight one. I'm pointing that out because I unfortunately, shamefully, didn't link to the tutorial I had used with later ones but did there. @yuutta’s wonderful tutorial is the one I based them all on so check that out for the comic effect itself.

So, Snixx Attack:

First, we just have the first half that’s a pretty straight-forward gif with some adjustments and last-minute colouring:

Now, we need to cut out Santana from the last frame, where we want this pop-up sort of freeze-frame thing to happen. I used the pen tool to do the actual cutting. And actually, I was lying that the first thing we need is the proper gif part because you’ll want to prepare for this freeze-frame step before doing anything else. To make your life as easy as possible, select in advance what your last frame will be and duplicate that layer. Then, when converting to Smart Object, leave it out and just drag with the Smart Object itself. Like so:

On that second one you can see that I move the single frame to the very end so it just stays like that once the clip ends. We can then cut Santana out, or rather cut around her.

Once we cut our character out, we apply the “comic book” filters and play around until it looks good. In Photoshop, the filters look like this on my gif:

I usually just copy these as they are to new comic book gifs I make. The white outline you asked about is just a stroke applied to this cutout and then black and white and other adjustment layers are applied as they would be to other elements of gifs. Layer 4 copy is a duplicate of this (don’t let my lack of naming convention fool you) with a color overlay and nudged to the right.

As this set was inspired by this one, I kinda followed the example and nudged the main cutout a bit as well as making it a bit bigger. Compared to where Santana freezes on the original it looks like this:

And then I put on the color overlay layer as well, put a comic background behind it and do the text and its effects. We’ll get into those in a second, but broken down all these layers that appear at the end of the “normal” gif look like this when separated into three main parts:

For the red background, I just googled “comic book background” until I found the right one. Lots of googling involved when you see stuff like this in my sets. Same goes for the Rachel and Kurt backgrounds. This is the one I used for Santana, slightly adjusted for the gif:

I placed it so Santana was in the middle and the lines felt like they were “coming out of her”. And then it was the text and all its effects, arguably the hardest part.

The first element is a type of comic effect-thing, again found via google:

The devil horns and tail, again, googled, and placed on this new layer + with the bg:

The text itself was a lot of trial and error but it’s ultimately SF Comic Script Condensed with gradient, stroke and drop shadow effects. Or, well, with “just” those and some rise warp text applied it’d look like this:

I was looking into how to turn text into a 3D sort of effect in a simple way in Photoshop and probably struggled more than I should have. It’s been a while so I don’t fully remember, but basically there’s a duplicate layer under Snixx Attack nudged to the right to create that final look. IIRC it was duplicating and slightly moving the layer and then combining all duplicates into one, and applying the following effects:

That bottom layer is a few nudge and duplications merged and with the effects above on. On its own, it doesn’t look appealing but with the OG text I’d like to think it achieves what vision I had in my had.

It’s a similar process with Rachel and Kurt, just different scenes of course and different logo/text. The hardest part was figuring everything out with Santana and then recreating the process two more times was quite fun, experimenting with different things. I won’t upload all the files used for those two but you get the idea, googling around and combining images.

With Kurt’s unicorn, again I googled “unicorn” and did some effects on the best png I could find

I know I sped through some things and apologies I’m only answering this now. Please let me know if I need to clarify anything. Ideally this would have been a better tutorial but lack of time and a need to let you know this was more than okay to ask prevailed. I hope it is helpful though and again, happy to answer further questions.

e4: -sorry seb's "says who?" at the start of episode (in response to ferrari telling him what to do) GAGGED sets the tone for the episode PERFECTLY -mattia talks about monza the way indy drivers talk abt the 500 lmao -the whole "there is no #1 driver" bit makes me think hey r there parallels to be drawn between sebchal here and alonso/hamilton in 2007? just thinkin about it -before i get to far i want to share some thoughts: when i first watched this episode with NO prior knowledge it was rly hard to follow. after i heard about the specifics of the ferrari engine controversy (cheating), for the second watch i remember this episode suddenly clicking for me! this episode would've benefitted so much from a will buxton monologue explaining the juicy details for a newish viewer. i understand that there might have been pressure from ferrari to not include those details but it is such a shame, to have such a core piece of information missing and viewers have to try to piece together the narrative without it :/ -HI LAURA WINTER -very much get the impression that seb is like the family member who notices the generational trauma and going hey maybe we should change things to stop that and gets exiled from the family instead :) those sure are the vibes -HI CHARLOTTE -im sorry the back to back "seb has a lack of confidence with the car. and charles' car is not performing" like theyre the same car but you're gonna frame it like its seb's fault but not charles's? mattia choke -at the part where they're explaining the engine controversy--i still stand by wishing they explained it better and EARLIER because i think its much needed context for the first half of the episode too -at the end of the day all i need to know is that seb clearly thought that what ferrari did was wrong, and thats all i need to know if he says so then i believe it!! -the way netflix is trying to tease like ~oh imagine all the different teams he could go to! who wouldnt want him~ is so cheeky but also i NEED to know what this was like live when yall didnt know where he was going i'm JEALOUS i wish i got to be there for it all to unfold -double ferrari dnf at monza must've been crazy to watch live too lmao -seb zigzagging through all the photographers on his bicycle. love him -seb announcing his new seat the same weekend as ferrari's 1000th is crazy ex girlfriend levels of unhinged (pos). like posting ultrasound pics the same day as your ex's wedding type of shit. no one does it like him -sorry im incapable of watching ferrari episodes without writing an essay. hope you enjoyed

ep5: -the great daniel/cyril divorce -i cant remember who said it or where i saw it but when i first got into f1 properly someone talked about how Different things might've been if there hadn't been covid--since the season was delayed, the contract was signed before reneault could have any races with daniel that year--so daniel could only make that decision based off 2019 races -the jump clearly did not work out for him but alpine also went to shit too. but if cyril hadn't left who knows. i think all of daniel's choices make sense honestly!!!! he just got very unlucky -anyway their dynamic is insane and they deserve soooo many more fic than they have!! -"it's probably a bit like being dumped by a girlfriend, but she hasn't moved out of the house yet." christian did eat with this one. unfortunately -i love cyril but him being the one to actually complain about the pink mercedes feels very..... my wife is divorcing me so i'm gonna sue my neighbors over the property line -"i hate those fucking pink cars" oh i need to gif that. i'll be watching and i'll just KNOW like yeah that needs to be in the next gifset -i cant believe i havent mentioned it yet renault colors are the BEST daniel has ever looked i miss having yellow n black on the grid. maybe thats why alpine went to shit they gave up the best color combo they could have

e7: -pierre redemption episode!!! i think this is one of the best episodes ever tbh. very cathartic movie plotline really ticks all the boxes -HI PATRICK -ok but the fact that dts NEVER covered alex's podiums w red bull after milking the shit out of his missed podiums is a hate crime to me personally -onboards going through eau rouge are scary af. -filled with rage at how christian horner chews up new drivers and spits them up (even though its all so predictable at this point. no one will ever live up to the golden boy) -i remember seeing people complain that the williams family leaving wasn't given focus in dts, if anyone has any fun video essays about that i'd love to watch! -i do take issue with will buxton saying "red bull can't admit they made a mistake (with alex)" i think red bull made a mistake with promoting ANYONE too early and expecting too much from them, but not in a pierre v alex way. neither of them were given enough time or support by red bull to flourish. and they lowkey admitted that recently lmao -but it /is/ cathartic to know that red bull have tried to get alex back since then and he doesn't need his toxic ex in his life anymore no thanks ✌️ -i just know i'll LOVE watching this race in full -they set up the suspense so well for the end of the race -and it really is. if carlos had won this race with mclaren, his first win, how different would the trajectory of his career been -ANYWAY theres something that just always gets me about men holding all their emotions in right until they cross the finish line and they finally allow themselves to feel the emotions. okay so this is the second time i’ve seen someone write ‘queerbait’ in the tags of this post and i’m just. blegh. i have some thoughts and i’m not sure if i’m wrong or perhaps thinking too much into it or what but. i’m just Not Okay with that being tossed around based off scenes of Eddie looking at Buck.

the acting choices Ryan is making in terms of Eddie looking at Buck stem from a place of Eddie possibly having had his “OH! IT’S YOU.” moment, his “my god do i love you” moment, his “i’m dying and all i want is to hold your hand moment”, something we actually got to see on our screens when he was shot in the middle of a Los Angeles street and the one thing he does is reach out for Buck, whether or not you believe he remembers any of it is up to you but he Did That. That was a scene that happened, in canon. we don’t know that Eddie has had That moment, only Ryan does. and his acting choices have Been Okayed by tptb because hey, they wrote the damn scenes. we have no control over that, we just see his amazing acting choices play out for us and make our assumptions about why.

now, that being said, no one is saying Eddie is in love with Buck, no one is saying Buck is in love with Eddie, as far as I know no one from production has outright said “maybe we will, maybe we won’t.” no one has made Ryan and Oliver have interviews in which they’re playing up the ship for laughs and giggles, only to downplay it in the same breath. i have not seen any sort of “yea we know about X Ship and we are gonna mess with the audience about it” talk to get people to watch the show as most queerbaiting tends to do. no one is saying Eddie might possibly be kinda gay only to have him date women after women after women because He Is A Man. imo i think i’ve been around fandom long enough to know This Ain’t It babes. 

now what happens in the rest of the season, and possibly any other season to come, is another story but if they haven’t been doing that for the past 5 seasons why would they do it now?

my gifset was meant to show how eddie looks at buck with such love and adoration. he looks at him like he’s happy to see him, happy to be around him, happy just to be and exist. buck allowed him to be vulnerable and broken and stuck around anyway, in spite of it all, maybe even because of it. because at the end of it all buck needed someone to do just that for him too. they need to be broken and vulnerable together to learn how to put each other back together.

It's my own post so I'm allowed to bloviate about why all these moments intrigued me. Thought about doing it in the tags but I want to talk Way too much for all that :

How words came out like canaries, summer fruit in the dead of winter. → Little phrasings that remind me Armand lived most of his life in a time before modern technology (like that which allows some people to access all kinds of produce all year round). Also, I think the show version of Armand in particular struggles some with communicating verbally (haven't read enough of the books to be sure if I think the same is true there) so his awe at Lestat's words coming out like canaries makes sense. Also 'summer fruit in the dead of winter' is an objectively horny way to describe someone. You're starving and cold and want to eat him like a ripe plum we get it.

Cavalier, but I'm sure you're being careful. → Said in reference to the door to Louis and Claudia's apartment being a tiny bit ajar, during the middle of the day, while they (powerful dangerous monsters) were both awake and alert, talking in their own home. Armand sees this as dangerous enough to be worth commenting on. Also, CLASSIC passive-aggressive moment. He is not sure that Louis is being careful. He thinks Louis is not being careful but doesn't want to come out and just say that. It's so many years after Lestat broke up the CoD and he still sees living amongst humans as so perilous and heretical.

Why does that make you as evil as any vampire? Aren't there gradations to evil? → In hindsight I should've also included the later "only one sin is needed" section because that's the real kicker. Louis is toxic because he holds others and especially himself to an impossibly high moral standard and once you fall off that shelf, you're evil forever (I do think he struggles with this mindset and eventually starts to grow past it but this post isn't about Louis so that's the simplification for right now). Armand is toxic because he over-contextualizes the evil deeds of others, and himself, in order to justify them and render them Not Evil. He does this to paint over (ha 🙃) the abuses done to him, but also over his abuse of those under his power (Claudia and other coven members especially). Also this dialogue is straight out of the book and it slaps.

Do you keep this boy as a reminder? → First of all he sounds. So sad. It's important to remember how sad and weary he sounds here. Armand looks at Lestat and Nicki and sees Lestat as "keeping" Nicki - possessing him, even though we see no evidence their relationship is unequal at this point. We don't get lots of context for them in the show but in TVL they are childhood friends who had been a couple long before Lestat was turned. The phrasing, too - calling Nicki "this boy" even though Lestat is very newly a vampire and honestly not any older than him yet. The whole thing reads very 'projecting Marius-related feelings' to me.

Coven life requires a letting go of the self. → @atlasblue85 said it better than I ever could have in the tags tbh just gonna link that.

When you're the oldest suit in town, it is a comfort to be among your contemporaries. → Calling himself a 'suit' on the one hand is just slang, but it's an interesting choice. He's not a being, he's a suit. Even in this moment his identity is a thing to be put on, not something intrinsic and real. His demeanor here is so interesting he's so gleeful? I really do believe him that this is his favorite walk and that being among objects from his own era is a comfort to him. I don't think at this point he'd decided to show Louis the painting with him in it. Based on the change in his mood, safe to say that one DOES NOT bring him comfort. Probably on most of his walks he doesn't even go in that room.

The center isn't holding. → Love that the writers being nerds means that the characters are too. Go off with the Yeats, Armand. Am I going to make an Armand gifset with lines from 'The Second Coming' someday? Oh, inevitably. After all the ceremony of innocence is drowned and the best DO lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity! This stuff practically photoshops itself.

You'll be a monster. → At the end of the day, Armand really does believe he is a monster just as much as Louis does. It just manifests in extremely different ways for them. For Louis it's not wanting to eat humans, for Armand it is not wanting to doom any humans to the hell of being a vampire by turning them.

Life is cruel. Life is violent. → Louis dismisses the plays at the TdV as grimdark and edgy (fair) and Armand counters by inadvertently revealing that he sees experiencing 'cruel, barely motivated violence' as a fundamental part of being in the world. Which, considering Armand's entire life... also fair, but extremely fucking sad if you think about it for a second.

We do not need permission. We own dominion. → I think some people might read this one as Armand asserting vampire superiority over humans and I do see that but it's not really my main point of interest here. Vampire or human aside, it's obvious again how he sees the world as structured around power and ownership. Those who have power do not need permission to do whatever they want to those without power - that's just the way it is and always has been, no point fighting it. He's so casual about it here - maybe a little bit gloating but mostly just having the air of explaining something extremely simple that everyone knows.

No not at all. I honestly felt like I was insane last night because everyone seemed to suddenly be omg it’s true love or omg did you see that look or wow the way Buck was eye f’ing tommy! And I was just like……where? Sure the camera framing was there for possibilities going forward if they want. But that one interaction we got between the two I was genuinely just what am I missing?? I’m all for bi Buck. And all for Buddie. Hell I’m even open to seeing something with Buck and Tommy if they decide bi Buck for some reason needs to not happen with just Eddie at first. As a member of the queer community I’m all for as much representation as possible in all medias. But I just… genuinely saw that scene last night as Buck wordlessly saying “Hey man thanks for the help saving some of the most important people in my life” to Tommy and then immediately running after Eddie. Maybe it’ll change next week when we’re actually supposed to see them interacting (and maybe even actually saying words to each other) but just based one the one scene, I too do not understand the degree people are reaching to make it into something bigger. like there’s so many behind the scenes clips from tour where like jk or tae will be upset with their performance and crying and jimin would be the one to come up behind them and hug them and wipe their tears

same concept for that one moment in bon voyage 3 when they told him that tae was crying and he just kinda hugged him and wiped his tears and hovered around him to make sure he was okay

or when they left hobi at the gas station in bon voyage 4 and then went back to pick him up he still hugged hobi even as he was laughing evilly

also in bon voyage 4 when they went on that helicopter tour and they was on the mountain and him and tae tackled each other and was rolling in the snow

and he is just like always in jk arms like he just jumps on him for no reason like in that video where lee hyun is acting as one of bts’ management

also in the behind from i think when they were practicing for the 2019 bbmas i believe at some point jungkook was holding that man spinning him in circles or sumn like that

and there’s also that one comeback show when him and tae were in the comic book cafe and they were just cuddled up together looking at tae’s phone practicing english i think

and on that one joon live when him and tae crashed and just caused a whole lot of commotion i’m pretty sure at one point they were cuddled on the couch and then jimin told tae his breath stinks and tae proceeded to open his mouth over the air purifier

anyway clearly he is a man with hands

but he also is someone who loves to spend time together it’s important to him

like i just think about how when they had their “break” back in 2019 he talked about how he just traveled the entire time and he went with various friends and family

and i’m pretty sure it was bon voyage 3 when they were doing their friendship trips and trying to make fresh pairings or whatever he was like i don’t think there’s any surprising pairing with me and it’s like… that’s true

there’s also that time he went live and someone said they had some kind of condition and then he took it upon himself to look it up and try to find treatments

and i ain’t even got the right words to express how i feel about the smile he couldn’t help when hobi had them all tell tae that they like him

not to mention the story he told during the festa video last year about how he always tried his very best to get hobi to praise him and how disappointed he was when hobi didn’t get it

and i may be tripping but didn’t like earlier this year he didn’t post on weverse or twitter for like a month or so because he wanted to keep seeing us say how much we miss him???

and in bon voyage season 2 when they had to write letters to each other and he wrote his to jimin and then cried when he read it

there’s also a moment in bon voyage 4 when he and rm were about to sleep in the same space and he asked joon if he could cuddle him and joon was like 🥴🤚 how bout no and tae was like you do like me right? and rm was like yeah of course but let’s not cuddle bro

also in that weverse magazine interview they did he talked about how depressed he got when they weren’t able to perform and he only felt happy for a while when he was able to communicate with us

and in turn he’s very verbally supportive as well

like at that one fan sign they was talking about bon voyage and they asked army which season they liked better 1 or 2 and someone said 1 and taehyung was like “😐 now why would you say that bc namjoon won’t even in that” even though really it was only like 1 or 2 episodes he missed out on

and like he’s always hyping seokjin up like when they were doing the map of the soul 7 comeback live and jin was talking about how he wasn’t a good dancer and taehyung was like 😡 don’t say that bc it’s not true you’re good and you always been good

and in the let’s bts thing again it was important for him to let jimin know that he likes him best like they really are best friends y’all 😭

and when he talks about how much he loves suga’s raps

and that moment in the soop when he set up a date for him and jungkook to talk out whatever tension they had or whatever

and how during those individual be interviews he had hobi flustered when he complimented his passion for music

and he always be saying like the most comforting stuff on weverse letting army know he’s there as a source of comfort at all times even when he can’t be

like this man is literally the creator of borahae meaning that we’ll love and support each other for a long time

so if you get with tae communication is key!!!

you gotta tell him how you feel about him

and when they were practicing home for the magic shop muster and yoongi sat in the arm chair and immediately jk sat in his lap and tae sat in his lap

or how in in the soop after they were done eating he just went and latched onto jin’s back

and how tae had went to go wake jk up that one time and they ended up falling asleep

or how jk had went to wake up jimin that one time and they ended up falling asleep

there was just a lot of jk cuddles going on in in the soop so i’ll move on

let’s talk about the pool water debate run episode where in the end jk decided to latch onto jin’s back yet again

i’ll take this moment to mention the jinkook moment that lives in my head rent free for no valid reason it’s from the life goes on countdown video where they were reading the post cards and he was wearing that big pink sweatshirt and jin was wearing that pink and black bomber jacket and jk just grabbed jin’s arm and held onto it and played with it and when he was done he just threw it away i… i think about that moment a lot there’s an entire section in both my head and heart dedicated to that moment anyway continuing on

i’ll talk about that time they were backstage for a show and they had them blow up mattresses and suga was minding his business resting and jk just rolled up and moved his legs and laid beside him and then hobi decided to pile on top

and whenever they’re on stage he’s always the most delighted when joon would suggest a hug he’d be the first one over there nose scrunched up giggling he loves it

there’s also many instances in interviews and lives where he just can’t keep him hands to himself

just like that last butter live when tae ended up with a crown of forks thanks to mr kook

and he never misses an opportunity to feel up joon

which makes me remember that time he kissed namjoon on the forehead

and he is just always carrying jimin for some reason

so in conclusion… physical affection

and if he was your mans you’d be on the frontlines of receiving all he has to give

not necessarily in public or around a lot of people but in a space where you both were comfortable yes

you’d just have to accept that when you’re standing around he’s going to give you a shoulder/neck/back massage for no particular reason

and he will latch onto you in different positions for extended periods of time

hi, yes of course!! the font is called Glamour Brush which you can get here

as for the second question, i am the WORST about saving psds (apparently i saved all the colorings for this set but not the typography 🤦) so i can't tell you with 100% certainty exactly how i did it, but i can tell you how i think i did it based on how i normally get this kind of effect and what i ended up with in trying to recreate it

so the basics of what i'm about to explain are an easy way to make pretty much any text look nice. i start by typing out the text in white and setting the blending mode to difference. now if you click on the fx symbol at the bottom of your layer tab group, you'll pull up the style options. what we're interested in here is gradient overlay

the style menu looks like this:

you can see i already have my gradient loaded up there, but if you click on the gradient you can play around with the colors until you settle on something you like. the main thing here is the blending mode. if you leave it on normal it's just going to replace your white text with the gradient, which can look nice but it's not what we're going for. i normally use hard light, linear light, or sometimes color. just play around with it till you find one you like. again, i can't be positive, but i'm like 95% sure i used linear light for this one, so it looks something like this at this stage:

then i also add a drop shadow to make the text pop more (this is done in the same menu we used to apply the gradient, you can see it at the end of the list on the left of that screenshot). you also want to do any distortion/rotation/resizing at this stage cause we'll be using the text to create layer masks in a second.

so this is what i have now:

and i could just leave it here but i don't like how dark the dark parts are, so i'm gonna try and fix that. there's no set way to do this so, as always, just play around with it till you land on something you like.

anyways, first i hold down the ctrl key and click on the T icon on my text layer, which will select the text pixels:

now any adjustment layer i create will be masked to the text (just make sure you drag it under the text layer). i ended up using both brightness/contrast and curves to get a look i was happy with:

remember that since the text blending mode is difference, in order to make it lighter we actually need to make the image underneath it darker, hence these settings ^

and that's basically it! for the final touch i duplicated the text layer, set the fill level to 0 (this is like opacity but does not affect the layer style), and added an outer glow. then i nudged that layer down and to the right a few pixels so it was slightly offset.

and here's the finished product that i made for this tutorial along with the original! not an exact match but i think i got pretty close:

ps: because the lighting on all the gifs in that set is really different, i definitely didn't use the same blending mode for the gradient overlay or the same adjustment layers for each one. just something to keep in mind!

Most of the time, at least before, he’d let shit slide if it was too small. Nowadays though, if he even catches something bothering you he steps in - always finding the small of your back and pulling you closer to him like he was keeping you close to protect you. hello! i was wondering how you added pink to this gifset (/post/669957573452103680/ladies-meme-%C2%BD-unfairly-hated-kira-yukimura)? i'm relatively new to photoshop so im sorry if it's easy to do lol

Of course! This got pretty lengthy so I put it under the cut. Just remember that I make my own gifs from scratch so if you're using gifs from gifpacks things might be a little different!

okay so first things first, once you open your gif you're going to want to get all of your base colouring done so your layers screen should look something like this

now we're going to add a black and white layer so to do that we're going to go to the adjustments tab and click on gradient map

from here we're gonna click on the drop down menu and choose the black to white gradient

so now your gif should look something like this

now, still on the gradient map layer, you're going to use a soft brush (adjust size as needed) with black as your colour and erase anywhere where you want the colour to be showing, so that it looks something like this

next you're going to add a new layer, and using the paint bucket tool we're going to fill the page with our colour

after this we're going to create a clipping mask over the gradient map so it looks like this

and then set the colour layer to multiply

and that's the gist of it, I also used the hue tool to make the colour more vibrant and tweak it. and i always use the selective colour to brighten the whites and darken the blacks!

buckle up folks this is gonna be long bc min. character limit uni papers thought me a lot of things but def not how to be concise 

01. planning

this was a long time ago but i do remember wanting to make something with overlays bc quite honestly i started working on this way too late and it seemed the fastest lmao. jokes on me i had 2 failed attempts and this also went through some changes along the way. initially i wanted to combine dye, bol and present:you... them being my fave eras for this lovable dumb man. so it would’ve been one pair for each gif.

02. creating

picking footage

so onto creating,, first things first the concept had to be changed bc present:you only had light shots so that had to be removed rip, here you can see a failed attempt at me trying to include it. this was before i started making proof on concepts for gifsets which later on saved me so much time... but not this time

once i accepted defeat i had to reshuffle the shots and add some new ones but it was all good i was not losing braincells at all. so onto the real gifs, gonna show you the red one bc that’s my fave of the three. 

making the base

btw i’m always working with timelines and smart objects bc it feels way easier than frames. so here we started with this jaebeom, and since the background and his hair it’s pretty dark those will be the parts which will be covered with the next gif. i made it black and white and also adjusted the levels a bit to make it a bit softer (lowered the whites and lightened the blacks)

for aesthetic purposes i always go for one close shot and one wider shot, then literally all i did was add the other gif on top, and set it to lighten. okay this is it that’s the whole process bye. oh we need the rest too? okay okay. so btw for a while i was considering making both of them coloured but then bw looked better when having all three gifs under each other, felt more like a ‘set’

now for this gif in particular i did not need to mask anything, shocking, but for the others i had to either blend the edges or make the bottom layer darker at some places to let the top layer show up a bit more e.g. for the second gif i needed a tiny blending like so (it’s the layer 1 copy 3 lmao)

making the overlay bits

then we are basically done with the main part of the gifs, obviously i applied colouring to each inside the smart object. but i always like to add something extra on top which are usually two things: 1.) full overlay gif something blurred (literally any kind of footage.. i used leaves, water, space renders etc. so far), or a light leak, oooor a bokeh effect whatever and just keep it subtle. and 2.) some smaller moving bits which are usually sparkles, dust, stars, galaxy stuff etc. u get the idea. for the above gif this happens to be Layer 1 copy 2 rip. also in this case this overlay is actually this jaebeom footage blurred and with some colouring added on top of it to have this redish brassy tone (not me forgetting about this completely lmao) obviously it’s zoomed in and i’m using the top left part of the video blurred. look at me explaining my chosen gif with another gifs gahd i’m bad at this. anyways it just goes to show i use practially anything i can think of and just blur it. 

for the full overlay footage i either go black and white and set it to overlay or soft light, whatever works best, or go coloured and set it to lighten again.... whatever blending mode works best. for this specific 2nd gif i went with lighten. for the smaller moving bits same tbh i just adjust the levels/curves to only show the bits i need when it’s set to lighten, i.e. i make its background more black so it won’t make the gif hazy. 

 adding the text

so anyways i add those on top so it’s not boring anymore,, practically just concealing the fact that all i‘ve really done was adding a gif on top of another and set it to lighten rip. oh yeah we have the text layers, nothing fancy here: for the script i used Challenge and the serif is FogtwoNo5. For the script i sampled some red from the background and just set it to overlay, and for the serif i just went with full caps adding some extra kerning bc one: for full caps you always need that, not this much lol, and two: it just looks better okay. 

last touches

then i added a levels adjustment layer because i felt the gifs were a bit brighter than i wanted, so we ended up with this

oh my gahd we are almost theeeere, for saving gifs here are my settings, i did not have to tell photoshop which colours to use luckily so it was an easy process.

03. posting

eeehmmm posting... yeah nothing exciting? i just save it in my drafts check it on mobile, and if something is really messed up i’ll change some colouring and saving settings, but this was a fairly ‘easy’ gif for tumblr to compress decently so none of that.
