My Golden Globes Film Predictions
The Golden Globes are tomorrow, and with them we can start to get an idea of what’s getting nominated (and winning) at the Oscars. So, without further ado, here are my predictions for the film awards.
Best Film - Drama: This category is about 50% almost guaranteed Best Picture nominees (The Brutalist, Conclave and Dune Part II) and 50% films that are still fighting for a spot (A Complete Unknown, Nickel Boys and September 5). While A Complete Unknown is drifting into the “almost guaranteed” category, I still feel like the voters will go with one of the more guaranteed picks, and of those picks, I feel the most confident in The Brutalist.
Best Actress - Drama: Like (almost) all the acting categories this year, the Best Actress category is pretty contentious - there’s maybe two guaranteed picks, neither of which are competing in this category. Of the 12 actresses nominated at the Globes, only five will be nominated at the Oscars, so I’m trying to think along the lines of “who will be nominated?” There are two (maybe three) actresses in this category that I think have strong chances, and of those two, I’m feeling the most comfortable with Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl.
Best Actor - Drama: In terms of nominations, this is probably the least contentious acting category (barring Stan I wouldn’t be surprised if this category is the Best Actor lineup), but in terms of who’s winning….oof. My mind is really at war between Brody and Chalamet, and I think I’m going to go with Adrien Brody for The Brutalist.
Best Film - Comedy/Musical: I honestly believe that 5 out of 6 of the films nominated here will be nominated for Best Picture, which makes the job of predicting what’s going to win here that much harder. There’s probably three real competitors when it comes down to it, and I think at the end of the day I’m going to go with Anora.
Best Actress - Comedy/Musical: See above for my comments on the Best Actress race this year. There are a few competitors here, but I think I’m going to go with Mikey Madison for Anora (and to be clear, she is one of the two that I think are guaranteed).
Best Actor - Comedy/Musical: Also see above for what I said about the Best Actor lineup this year. With all my love and respect towards the actors in this category, I think they will all be Globes-only nominees this year, which means this is purely according to Globe voter tastes. For some reason, I’m really feeling Sebastian Stan in A Different Man.
Best Supporting Actress: Due to not being split by genre, this category is made somewhat easier by only being one person larger than the Oscar lineup. The question of which of these six won’t make it in (or if someone else entirely will sneak in) is what’s making this category contentious. I do think there are two spots that are guaranteed, though, and of those two I’m feeling confident in Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez.
Best Supporting Actor: Once again, see above for my comments about the supporting acting races. This one is different because, unlike the rest of the categories, there has been a frontrunner this whole time: my prediction of Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain.
Best Director: This is yet another category with no clear frontrunner, and another category which is only one person bigger than the Oscars. For now, I’m gonna go with Brady Corbet for The Brutalist.
Best Screenplay: See above for everything I’ve said about no clear frontrunner. This is also an interesting category because this is a category that expands, rather than condenses, at the Oscars (split between Adapted and Original Screenplay) so this is only a sample of the screenplays that will be nominated. Of all the scripts and screenwriters, the one that is calling to me the most is Peter Straughan for Conclave - which would be a sign of it winning for Adapted Screenplay, still leaving Original Screenplay up in the air.
Best Animated Feature: To me this category really feels like a tossup between The Wild Robot and Flow, and ultimately I am more optimistic about The Wild Robot’s chances.
Best Non-English Film: This is yet again another category where this’ll likely shape up to be the Oscar nominees (excluding All We Imagine As Light, which was not submitted by any country for consideration). Due to its nominations elsewhere, I’m going to go with Emilia Pérez.
Best Score: This is another category where one of the nominees has already been excluded from Oscar consideration (Dune Part II) (though that doesn’t exclude it from winning here). Ultimately, though, I’m going to go with Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross for Challengers.
Best Song: The Academy seems to be doing a lot of musical exclusion this year, as one of the nominees here, “Forbidden Road” from Better Man, has also been excluded from consideration. The winner here is probably going to be one of the songs from Emilia Pérez, and of those I’ll follow Gold Derby and go with El Mal.
Cinematic and Box Office Achievement: Since it’s nominated elsewhere (and since it hasn’t won anything else in my predictions) I’m going to go with Wicked.
Final Tally:
Emilia Pérez: 3
The Brutalist: 3
Anora: 2
A Different Man: 1
A Real Pain: 1
Challengers: 1
Conclave: 1
The Last Showgirl: 1
The Wild Robot: 1
Wicked: 1

re: rwrb emmy noms odds
Yesterday, I replied to an ask about rwrb's odds for emmy noms, and I like numbers and was procrastinating had time today to dig deeper into this. I wanted to see our odds for the Emmy noms compared to the Golden Globes (which rwrb didn't get).
Before reading this post, I encourage you to check out the linked reply above first (it's a quick read).
NOTE: This is all using data from Gold Derby. Again, anyone can just create an account and do their own predictions, but it’s still the main website for predictions, including votes from experts. Emmys noms campaigning season have just started, these are very early predictions, so these odds can change dramatically from now to early June. Some shows that are eligible are yet to air, however are expected for nominations. The data I include in this post are as of April 6. I might revisit their odds once all predictions are locked in, so we can track any changes.
Quick explainer for Gold Derby: - There are 5 types of users on Gold Derby: experts, editors, top 24 users (users who had the best scores last year), all-star top 24 (users who had the best scores over the past two years), and the rest of the users on the website - When I say total rankings, it means the combined votes from everyone Total accuracy for the Golden Globes predictions: - TV Limited Series/Movie - 83.33% - TV Limited/Movie Actor - 63.67% Links: Golden Globes | Emmys
Previously, some predicted a Golden Globes nom for RWRB (which it didn’t get), but RWRB/Prime did not campaign for that. The SAG-Aftra strike ended on Nov 9th, and the deadline for Television nomination ballots to be sent to all voters was on the 20th. Now with the strike over, Prime seems to be actively pushing for the Emmy noms, and I think we can expect some more content asides from The Awardist podcast with Nick and Taylor. There is a higher chance of an Emmy nom as Limited Series and TV Movies have separate categories.
As of now, RWRB sits at #4 (out of 15) on Gold Derby’s total rankings, and there are slots for 5 nominees. If filtered to just the experts’ votes, it actually climbs to #3.
Tumblr media
For the Golden Globes, RWRB was ranked #13/41 (all votes from users, no experts/editors). For this category, Gold Derby had an 83.33% accuracy.
Tumblr media
ACTING NOMS:
EMMYS
From the votes from experts and editors, only one editor voted for a nomination for Taylor, and none for Nick. The one vote puts Taylor at a tie with Austin Butler and Aaron Pierre.
Tumblr media
However on the total rankings table, Taylor and Nick ranked #17 and #26, respectively (with Nick for Mary & George at #18).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GOLDEN GLOBES
Similarly to the Emmys, Taylor had one vote from an editor, but he placed higher on the table at #9 (tied with Joe Cole). Again, no votes for either from experts.
Tumblr media
On the total rankings table, Taylor and Nick placed at #13 and #14, respectively.
Tumblr media
Uma Thurman also has votes in the total rankings for both the Emmys and Golden Globes.
Emmys
Tumblr media
Golden Globes
Tumblr media
The Emmys TV Movie/Limited Series Lead Actor category is so stacked that the boys and Uma had higher chances at the Golden Globes. Again, remember these are very early predictions, so changes to these odds are expected.

Whoaaaa Challengers for Score!!! Who are these people and what have they done with the Globes???
#I mean GREAT but I guess I was thinking of the Academy (which I really do not see as hip enough to give it to challengers)#but yeah I guess the Globes are different#(for those unaware -- the Oscars nominations are voted on by specific branches in the industry#the directors' branch votes for the director nominees#the actors' branch votes for the acting nominees#the cinematography branch does the cinematograpy noms and so on and so forth#and everyone can vote on the nominations for Best Picture#but once all the noms are in then everyone can vote in all categories#which is why you get some out there nominations in the tech categories that most people have not seen#but the people who are in the industry in fields like editing or sound design or cinematography have#but the actors' branch is the largest branch in the Academy and they vote differently#The Golden Globes are a critics/journalist awards base not an industry one but apparently they have REALLY shaken it up#also different branches in the Academy have different rules#The director's branch for example only gives voting privileges to people who have had at least one movie in the past decade to keep it more#current. The score branch is EXTREMELY old-fashioned. Which is why I don't think the Oscars are cool enough to recognize Challengers in#score bc they rarely nominate electronic scores#see them nominating Indiana Jones of all things last year#but then again everything is apparently chaos I just don't see the GG as being predictive this year#the way they more or less were last year)#lior liveblogs awards season

OH NO! la séduction’s editor is addicted to fashion!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the parties simmered down and the sparkle of New Year’s Eve faded, I did what any self-respecting fashion devotee does—dove headfirst into the year’s style predictions. With a piping hot cup of tea and my loyal laptop, I embarked on one of my favourite January rituals: dissecting the fashion forecast. It’s like a stylish time capsule—revealing the year, good or bad, in terms of the outfits worn. A good forecast, means a good year for girls like me.
Why, you ask? Because decoding these trends isn’t just fun; it’s a masterclass in how fashion breathes and evolves. And for us des gens normaux (it means normal people… its prettier in french sorry) who can’t refresh our closets every season, these insights help us curate timeless staples that flirt with the trends while standing strong year after year.
So, of course, the second I started a blog, I couldn’t resist diving into it and sharing everything I know with you, my dearest, darlingest readers. And yes, I know—I tend to slip in a few too many French words. But honestly, I can’t help it! It’s just so romantic, don’t you think?
The making of The ‘fashion forcast’
Before diving into the hits and misses, let’s demystify the magic of trend forecasting. Fashion houses like Prada and Miu Miu often set the tone with early shows, testing the waters with wearable, crowd-pleasing pieces while simultaneously dropping hints of what’s to come. Think of these hints as breadcrumbs leading us to the defining looks of the year—though consumerism, the terror that it is, means we often see multiple microtrends swirling in the mix.
For 2024, the the spotlight is on two major looks: minimalism & ’90s quiet luxury. Designers leaned into “modern beauty,” described not as an ideal, but as a celebration of life’s delightful messiness. In lay terms? Chicly chaotic elegance—oversized trench coats, effortless pencil pants, and Birkin bags casually unorganized à la Jane Birkin herself. (yes, i picked up french this year)
I’ve dubbed this aesthetic “The Art of the Lived-In Look.” Think accsesorised cameras and bags, jewellery layered in every possible combination ever, and outfits that say “I woke up like this” in the most intentional way possible.
Tumblr media
This will be a two part series, please don’t let this flop i would be very depressed— or how do you say it… déprimée
Trends! Trends! & Trends!
White dresses
Tumblr media
I seriously doubted this one. Could bridal ivory really dominate? But wouldnt you know it, they were everywhere—from Angelina Jolie’s striking appearances to Jessica Alba’s understated elegance. The Grammys, Wimbledon, and the Golden Globes all bore witness to this trend’s dominance.
Rating: 8/10
Timeless, classy, and universally flattering. These dresses brought subtle sophistication without veering into the ‘in-your-face’ territory
Tumblr media
Editor’s Pick (2024): Bella Hadid stole my heart with a summery sundress featuring delicate lace details. Paired with strappy white sandals and breezy beachy curls, it was casual perfection.
Tumblr media
Overall Favorite: Angelina Jolie’s silk gown at the 2004 Oscars is still the blueprint. Its low neckline, soft sheen, and classic diamonds felt effortlessly iconic. So iconic, even Sydney Sweeney’s recreated it, with a marilyn monroe coded twist of course
Pants: Grey, High-Waisted, and Wide-Legged
Tumblr media
The 2024 forecast saw pants reaching for new heights—literally. High-rise styles are back, though I still feel like we’re straddling the low-to-mid rise era with the “office siren” trend: medium-rise pants paired with structured tops.
Grey pants, however, enjoyed a resurgence thanks to the “old money” aesthetic, offering a much needed break from the overdone blue-black combo (I still love it though). And wide-leg jeans? A perfect fusion of baggy comfort and polished elegance.
Rating: 10/10
From tailored grey trousers to relaxed wide-leg jeans, these styles are versatile staples that won’t fade anytime soon.
Tumblr media
Editor’s Pick (2024): Bella Hadid strikes again! Her grey pants ensemble with a tank, oversized blazer, and accessories nailed the “more is more” mantra, while others stuck to safe white tops.
Tumblr media
Overall Favorite: Sofia Vergara’s pop-of-red streetwear look proves that a single bold color can elevate even the most neutral pieces.
Polo Shirts and Breton Stripes
Tumblr media
Polo shirts: the love-it-or-hate-it staple that refuses to die (why?!). Vogue revives this divisive classic every few years, but for me, it still symbolises uninspiring school uniforms… ew! Breton stripes, on the other hand, feel effortlessly French—especially in classic black and white.
Rating: 6/10
While polo shirts remain polarising, Breton stripes bring a hint of Parisian charm. you cannot tell me it isn’t perfect to wear to a tiny little café no one knows about.
Tumblr media
Editor’s Pick (2024): Taylor Swift’s polo outfit was surprisingly chic. Paired with red boots and a sleek bag, it exuded sophistication— her stylist needs a raise
Tumblr media
Overall Favorite: Audrey Hepburn’s Breton-striped shirt is exactly what I’m talking about. But honestly, maybe it’s the shirt, maybe it’s her. Either way, it just oozes iconic.
Thats it for right now. I promise i'll be back to look at all the other trends and also further into the importance of personal style in part 2 of the ‘2024 Fashion Predictions’ Tips are welcome! farwell,
Tumblr media
Ma chérie! i love you!
