Take this with a grain of salt because I just think too much about something most likely irrelevant. So, I rewatched all S1 scenes with Dedra for science (rebel!AU), especially to remind myself whether Dedra really was expected to be better than everyone, or if it was just her ambition. Partagaz specifically says,

"There's a high bar for your performance."

I did think it's perhaps just ISB standard because later he says,

"That's why we're bringing in officers like you."

And it can easily be interpreted like she's not meeting ISB standards here, but no. She is expected to do better than ISB standards

"There's a high bar for your performance. Unfair perhaps, but senseless to ignore, and potentially the foundation of a uniquely superior career. You're supposed to be more competent and tucked away, that's why you're here."

So maybe I'm stating known things here, and came late to the party. But Dedra isn't just held to the ISB standard and never was. I was thinking what reason would have Partagaz to actually dot on Dedra. We don't see him giving any advice to anyone else privately. Not even to Heert, who is under Dedra. And he backs her all the time, even to Yuralen who seems to not be impressed with her.

I wonder if it's cut part of fitting 3 seasons into one, but it looks like she was supposed to be shown that she specifically is groomed for far higher positions - "uniquely superior career." If it were just about power and outranking others, it would be a "superior career.". So, Dedra herself is a unique case of an officer within the Empire.

Which moves us fast forward to S2 and Kalkite meeting. She was specifically selected by Krennic despite Ferrix (which honestly should be blamed on that guy who kicked B2), and as he said, he wanted her plan specifically, and she already had one "before they finished talking". But like, why would Krennic even know about her? She's just a Lieutenant Supervisor at ISB. He's in the Imperial High Command, and his branch is the Imperial Military Department of Advanced Weapons Research. ISB has an affiliation with it, but again, Dedra had no idea how the attendant who gave her information was called. So it kinda makes no sense for Krennic to know someone far below him, from a different division. Especially when he's clear in S2 that Supervisors are just "clerks" to him and beneath his reputation to care about. Technically, you could say they know her because of Ferrix failure, but also if it were any other supervisor in her place, they would have no career. So my theory is that Dedra, because of being raised by the Empire and having potential, was part of some gifted kids group that she didn't even know about.

So everyone demanded exceptional results because she was meant to be a perfectly shaped mold. High Command and Partagaz, as the one directly above her, would know they needed to shape her with challenges. Results of an ordinary supervisor would be lost in the ether, but if true, Dedra would be closely monitored. It would also explain why Partagaz considers Dedra his pupil. He was aware that her mind alone would be worth ten others combined. This would also fit within my theory that Dedra is actually pretty young. From my calculations, the ideal age would 25 yo in 5BBY* when Andor starts. It's enough to finish Royal Imperial Academy, even so if she was good enough to skip some classes. What makes me think that is that in S1, everyone treats her like a newbie, like she doesn't know how ISB even works. If she really was younger than most Lieutenants, it would make sense. It looks like she wasn't an attendant and came a Lieutenant straight from Enforcement. Where I suspect they saw in a short time she exceeded the expectations for that branch and would be more beneficial in Investigations, which is exactly what happens. So I would say in a way, Dedra wasn't aware that she was a sophisticated tool for the Empire. As long as there were results, she could bend the rules more than others; she could slip here and there because, in the long term, it was still beneficial. Her chain of luck ended when Lonni stole her codes. Even when Krennic is interrogating Dedra, he still admits "How does one balance such passionate competency with the mindless decision to confront Luthen Rael on your own?"

Dedra was really good in their eyes, probably too good, and because of that, she started to break the mold that Empire created for her. When she saw the outside through the cracks, she noticed the incompetence of the Empire, superiors, and how most go after their own benefit rather than the benefit of the Empire. This is why paradoxically she started to rebel against her own. Unaware of it, she started to fight the system that created her to be greater than most. When that happened, it made the system flawed and imperfect. It couldn't feed her enough.

Since I love parallels, it's like the Empire is Kronos, whose children were more powerful, and he feared they would overthrow him, so he ate them instead. Dedra, Krennic, Partagaz, Lonni, Tarkin, etc., could be seen as children who were eaten, while Vader fulfills the role of Zeus, who "kills" Palpatine. Together, all of them had their part in the fall of the Empire, just like Zeus killed Kronos with the help of his siblings.

*She couldn't be in her 30s or 40s as it would make her around +/-20 years old when the Galactic Empire was created, so her kinderblock past makes absolutely no sense. Honestly, I don't even have an idea what I'm saying, my mind is literally this.

hellooooo! i read a lot of buck/eddie fics, literally everyday, and earlier this december i thought "why not share some of my favorites that i have read this month?" so here we are! i couldn't include everything i've read and enjoyed, the list would be really long. but i've picked a few fanfics that i've read (for the first time) in december that were really huge favorites and stayed with me for a little while these past days/weeks. i will try to make these on a monthly basis, because fanfic authors deserve all of the recognition! oh, and happy new year!

Eddie manages to resuscitate him, but as Buck recovers from yet another trauma, Eddie can’t help but notice there’s something very different about him. He’s not quite sure what version of Buck he got back.

this fic is absolutely incredible. i couldn't put it down once i started. it's extremely well written and brilliantly planned out. the angst is heavy but so is the reward: this is an amazing story. easily an all-time favorite!

another exquisite fic from this author. they never miss!! this one explores a dynamic i don't read that often (sub eddie) but it works SO well here. extremely well done, as usual. i also absolutely love this buck here.

incredible concept!!! all the moments chosen for eddie to revisit are perfect and make so much sense for his character. this was such a great read and an absolutely amazing character exploration fic.

okay so i literally read this in one sitting and went to bed at 7am to finish it. i couldn't put it down. the angst is SO good and frustrating and delicious and painful. but the payoff is so worth it!! this is really really really good. i loved all the dynamics, especially eddie and karen's friendship.

Season 1 (continued???)

Main characters as usual are Yume, Koharu, Rola, Mahiru, Ako, and Haruka Ruka 

I said that S4 only had Yuzu, Yozora, and Tsubasa but we’re changing that– Lily now is also part of S4 and takes Hime’s spot since,, yk,,, Hime’s missing 

Hime disappeared a while before the S4 Selection (so she was there for her second year at FSA and was in S4 for one year, but is not there for her third year when the series takes place) 

Hime disappeared after an S4 concert (the same one that Yume and Koharu attend to in Episode 1 of AiStars)-- and Yume was the last person to see her (and the rainbow power was accidentally given to her here idk how just bear with me) 

Anyways uhhhhh what else 

Brands in the rewrite aren’t under a specific type; they don’t fall under cute, cool, sexy, pop coords specifically (so they can make coords that vary in types) and idols can choose what coord they want based on their preferred idol type 

We’re deleting that one FSA rule where you can’t make a brand if you’re not in S4 because I think that’s lame and stupid and doesn’t do much for the plot anyways 

So some characters still have the same brands (Lily w/ Gothic Victoria, Yozora w/ Romance Kiss, Yuzu w/ Shiny Smile) but some don’t 

Ako, for example, uses a brand that’s story themed– this brand is heavily connected with a film production agency and the agency and brand correlate stories (like if the brand released an Alice in Wonderland collection, the film agency would then release a movie based on Alice in Wonderland) 

I wanted to lean more into Ako’s acting side and thought this would be a good fit 

Haruka Ruka uses a brand called “DECO●LOUR MY WORLD” that follows a decora and candy concept

Oh and she’s also the princess of this land called “E-Magi Nation” (pronounced “imagination”) and everyone thinks she’s putting up a persona because there’s no land called the E-Magi Nation silly! Except no she’s dead serious she’s a literal princess from the E-Magi Nation and her home palace is actually made of gingerbread and candy canes thank you for asking 

Romance Kiss’ official concept says that its a “brand that travels around the world” and takes inspiration from different ethnic cultures, so I was thinking this brand would have a whole bunch of branches in different parts of the world with different top designers and such– Yozora (and later Mahiru) is the top designer of the Japan branch 

The muse of Romance Kiss is in charge of representing the different cultures of the brand 

The school coords in Four Star Academy also has various silhouettes rather than the typical “different tops- same skirts and shoes” pattern 

Here’s an example with an Ako Star Coord I designed 

(I didn’t design anyone else guys I don’t have any ideas I tried with Hime and it was a disaster so please be nice about the Ako design I tried my best) 

Also people can enter the magic fitting room thingie (I forgot what its called HELP) by using their Aikatsu mobile instead of their Aikatsu pass because idk I thought it’d be cool I’m not too sure about this idea though

Lets move on from most of the plot points and go to the end of the season 1 where the S4 Selection happens because I forgot SOOOO many things!! Yay me!

In Wind Dance, Haruka Ruka loses to Yuzu (but since everyone in S4 is a third year including Yuzu, Haruka Ruka gets the spot for S4 next year) 

In Bird Theatre, Ako wins the spot for S4 by beating Tsubasa 

In Moon Beauty, Mahiru beats Yozora and inherits the muse position from Yozora

Its here where Yozora announces that she’s taking a hiatus from being an idol to focus on being a designer (for Romance Kiss) (guys I need reasons to get the 25th S4 Gen out of Season 2 okay bear with me) 

In Flower Song, Lily wins over Rola and Yume,,, however, Rola wins over Yume and gets the S4 spot; Yume becomes Flower Song Class’ admin

TLDR: basically Rola, Ako, Mahiru, and Haruka Ruka are the 26th generation of S4 and are the S4 for Season 2, Mahiru (or Ako I’m not sure) becomes the leader for S4 and we say goodbye to our previous generation of S4 

Oh and Hime shows up at the finale! But like in a super mysterious way where we know its her but no one sees her and she’s just quietly lurking and its basically a hint to her being in the next season

Season 2

Ohohohohoho here’s the fun part 

OKay SO 

The top idol Hime Shiratori has shown up to Four Star Academy… with the Perfect Idol Elza Forte 

Idk why they’re there its probably to try to steal S4 away from FSA 

Anyways Elza does her big performance and she gets her Star Wings and everyone’s in awe and she’s made her name as a perfect idol you guys know the drill 

Hime says that she has returned to help her friend Elza collect perfect idols and get all the Star Wings like they’re Pokemon 

And because of this, she is currently residing in Venus Ark (not as a student she just stays there as a guest of Elza’s) 

The normal shenanigans happen, some Venus Ark characters get their pretty wings 

Oh and later, Hime does a performance (which is her big return back to idoling (which she kinda hates), just for Elza to get her sun wings) and gets the Earth Wings 

A big thing here is how Hime truly trusts Elza and wants her to achieve her dream, doing the one thing she hates (being back in the public spotlight) just so Elza can get her mom’s approval (this is important later) 

But you may be wondering…. if Hime got the Earth Wings… what wings does Yume get? 

LOL HAHAHA GUYS 

she’s not getting any wings 

(I swear I love her she’s one of my favorite characters I just gonna make her struggle… sorry) 

The lineup for the wings goes like this: 

Kirara has Mercury as usual 

Mahiru gets Venus (guys guys calm down I know that Elza has Venus canonically but I swear I have a good reason!!!) (the good reason being that I like Mahiru and Rola together and if Rola gets Mars then Mahiru should get Venus because in mythology-)

Mahiru got her wings due to a plot point in Season 2 where she has multiple muses in Romance Kiss to show the many faces of beauty in different cultures rather than just one– she implements this officially in a festival celebrating different cultures and does a performance and BAM SPR 

Hime gets Earth because it made the most sense to me 

Rola gets Mars and Aria gets Jupiter, like in canon 

Ako gets Saturn (I kind of pushed out Yuzu and Lily in Season 2 so that they play roles similar to Yozora and Tsubasa and Hime in the canon Season 2 of AiStars, so that Ako and Haruka Ruka can get their pretty wings) 

Rei gets Uranus and Elza gets Neptune (because *mumbling* the Sailor Moon ship) 

Haruka Ruka gets Pluto and her wings are made of candy because I said so 

Oh and Koharu’s back! She was in France for a bit learning more about fashion and Elza took her in and now she’s a cool fashion designer who loves Venus Ark with all her heart and having the time of her life 

Aria and Hime also have a sweet relationship– Hime actually meets Aria in Season 2 (rather than pre-show in AiStars), and the two connect 

The main reason they connect is because they were both muses of My Little Heart. My Little Heart was Hime’s brand before she disappeared, and after she did, the whole brand was running around to pick up the pieces 

They had a little reboot and got a new muse (our little fairy Aria) who became the new muse of My Little Heart 

Hime is sorry for the trouble and hate that Aria received after she became the muse but Aria’s very sweet about it with her– they get along quite well because Aria sees Hime as this cool older sister and not a top idol, and Hime is truly at her calmest with Aria 

Oh speaking of brands, Hime has a private brand in Season 2 to avoid the same thing that happened with My Little Heart (she’s planning to leave the spotlight again after Elza gets the Sun Wings) 

We’re gonna skip a lot of plot points because.. again… I forgot a LOT of the ideas I had I should really write these down 

Hime finds out that Elza was just using her the whole time and gets really really upset,,, and pulls a little revenge 

Can you guys guess what it is 

Lol Hime gets the Sun Dress… surprise(!!)

I know Hime is out of character here compared to canon but then again this is my rewrite and I can do whatever I want and I think she should be able to destroy a few dreams because of the betrayal she feels 

And everyone was like “WOAH!! How did she do that!! Gasp!! The Sun Dress is here again??!” 

So the main rival of Season 2 shifts from Elza to Hime

Uhhh skipping more plot points,,, but Yume is doing pretty great! She was kinda moping around after she didn’t get an SPR but she and Koharu made up and created a new brand called “Rainbow Berry Parfait” Yay!! 

So she’s kinda vibing because her best friend is back 

OH MY GOD WAIT I FORGOT TO MENTION 

So at the end of Season 1, because she lost the S4 Selection and was exhausted due to the rainbow power, she took a small hiatus 

She still trains a LOT, more than she used to, so she learns to control her rainbow power again idk how 

But you may be wondering,,, Yume has no SPR nor a sun dress, how the heck is she gonna beat Hime in the finale? 

Basically, Yume and Koharu,,, craft a Moon Dress by themselves– its not given from the system or anything but they literally make a dress that can rival the Sun Dress 

Each one of Yume’s friends help her too, like Mahiru making the crown, or Haruka Ruka helping get certain fabrics? Stuff like that 

And then in the near finale of the season, Yume performs in this Moon Dress (without wings) 

She activates her rainbow power and has a super powerful aura,,, except the rainbow from her aura then goes into her back,,, and forms a pair of wings 

And its sort of basically the system deeming her “worthy” of the Wings of Stars 

Yume wins the competition and beats Hime– so both of them sort of get what they want? Yume is at the top now because of her hard work and now her super rainbow power and Hime is finally lifted the burden of being the top idol 

Also Rei, Aria, and Kirara get Elza’s mom to give her a hug and they sort of mend their relationship from there 

And in the end of the season, Yume beats Rola in the S4 Selection, Mahiru, Ako, and Haruka Ruka win their S4 spots again

Rola decides to go to England to find out what being an idol means to her (and makes a cool rock band because I think that’s what she deserves) 

Koharu is now the top idol of Rainbow Berry Parfait– she leaves Venus Ark and opens a boutique that is also a candy shop because why not 

Ako is the top actress,,, ever; she’s getting film deals everywhere, every movie she is in sells out completely, she’s a big hit 

Mahiru is a supermodel, she’s constantly traveling the world for brand deals; one of the most influential people in the world 

I’m ngl I barely talked about Haruka Ruka,,,, oops I swear I love her 

I imagine that she gets her own talk show that’s super successful- I also remember making her have a rivalry with Yuzu so she probably beat Yuzu sometime in Season 2 but I never mentioned it until now 

And Yume is the top idol of top idols; she’s now the leader of S4 with her super successful career and now she’s just vibing 

Elza and her mom are working to mend their relationship good for them good for them 

Also Elza apologizes to Hime for using her because I think Hime deserves that apology; they don’t end up being friends again but they do end their little,,, whatever they had going on, amicably 

Venus Ark leaves Japan at the end of Season 2 and they’re gonna go to some other country to girlboss and be better than other idol schools good for them 

Hime actually stays in Japan! She now helps with Hotaru’s (Moroboshi’s sister) flower shop! 

Yozora is the top fashion designer for Romance Kiss in the Japan branch 

I think Tsubasa starts an idol agency because I think it’d be cool to have one of those and no one would do it better than Tsubasa 

And Yuzu and Lily make their own idol unit its literally a canon event 

And I think those are all my ideas so far for the series but if I remember any more ideas I’ll probably reblog this with the new ideas 

Also if you read this whole thing, I APPLAUD YOU BECAUSE HUH??? One of god’s strongest soldiers fr 

(Note: I swear the characters, especially the main six, are very close to each other I was just trying to get my ideas out so I didn’t focus on much on the relationships between characters) 

Also I definitely planned more for lore building like the origin of the rainbow power and how the aikatsu system works (because that thing is definitely sentient,,,) but that's all in Season 3 + 4 where there are new characters (,,,,my ocs,,, STOP SCREAMING I AM BUT A GIRL WHO WANTS TO INDULGE HERSELF IN HER LITTLE DELUSIONS!!!) so that may be a different post,,, maybe

Which Storyline Would Best Suit These Two?:

Context: I’ve been trying to make a fanfic series where Severus Snape (specifically in the “Harry Potter” films) is brought back to life through magical means and reunites with his ex-wife (m.1985-1986/1987), Constance Hardbroom (of the 1998 “Worst Witch” series). The pair would eventually reunite with their long-lost son, Nicholas Hobbes (from the “Worst Witch” spin-off, “Weirdsister College”).

At first, it was supposed to go like this; in the summer of 1985, Severus and Constance would secretly elope with Elphinstone Urquart (McGonagall’s late husband) or Albus Dumbledore (who managed to get the marriage papers from the Ministry Of Magic). Urquart, McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Amelia Cackle (Headmistress of Hardbroom’s school, Cackle’s Academy) served as the happy witnesses. Yet, this arrangement had to be kept under lock-and-key for various reasons.

 For one; Severus working as a double-agent for Dumbledore while needing to be connected with the Death-Eaters (facts that Severus told Constance before the elopement). Another is due to Severus and Constance belonging to different sect/breeds of wizards. The “Rowling” Wizards are known as “Imperiums”; they wield wands, allow both witches and wizards to fly brooms and find themselves free with magic. As for the “Murphy” Wizards, they are the “Ex-Codices”; they use wandless magic/their fingers, have the witches ride brooms with the wizards wielding staffs, and have to adhere to The Foster’s Effect (overusing magic can cause crazy stuff to happen). 

While Ex-Codices don’t hate Non-Magical people/Muggles as much as Imperiums, the former branch are more apprehensive with their counterparts. If an Ex-Codice were to marry an Imperium, it is mandatory for either bride or groom to be Non-Magical/a Squib. And, if any children result in the union, their loyalties lie with the mother. If the mother is an Ex-Codice, the child(ren) would be Ex-Codice. If the mother is an Imperium, the child(ren) would be Imperium. Merlin of Arthurian lore was a product of such a mix with an Imperium mother and an Ex-Codice father.

Back to Constance and Severus. At first, the marriage started off nicely. But, over time, arguments would often ensue. Poor communication on both sides, Constance being too traditional/rule-abiding to take risks in the magical arts, Constance not liking how Severus was with his students (and letting the Slytherins get away with everything), and Severus (possibly) pining for the late Lily Evans. What also didn’t help was Severus having nightmares of being like his abusive father, Tobias. Dreams that Severus refused to tell his wife.

Then in 1986/1987, things would take a turn. The Death Eater, Mulciber would (somehow) discover a place near Cackle’s Academy. Unbeknownst to Mulciber, this cottage was the place Severus and Constance have been sharing. When Mulciber confronts Severus about it, the latter would say that it’s just a base Basil Brennan and Sophronia Maidenhair (Snape and Hardbroom’s aliases) would lend him. Curious, Mulciber told Snape that he would visit in order to get some information out of them. As a result, Snape would go to Dumbledore, telling them of Mulciber’s plan. A wise action to make as Constance had gone back to the cottage due to being ill. 

Long story short, Dumbledore had aurors take Mulciber into custody. And, while Constance was unharmed, Dumbledore still had to get Madame Pomfrey to treat the still-sick witch. Upon medical examination, Constance would get the news that she, herself, was carrying Severus’s child. This leads to this dilemma: the outcome.

Choice 1: When getting the news, Severus was in shock. First, there’s his fear of becoming more like his own father as both a spouse and parent. Second (and more importantly) Constance and their unborn child could’ve been killed thanks to him! With these factors, Severus felt unworthy of such happiness and felt like both Constance and their child would be safer/better off without him. So, he put divorce on the table.

Heartbroken, Constance would agree and decided that their upcoming child would be put up for adoption. Specifically given to an Ex-Codice orphanage run by Orbana Hart (a former schoolmate of Amelia Cackle). Thanks to Dumbledore, Constance would hide away at the Flamel House in Paris, France with the blessing of Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel. As Amelia, Poppy and Minerva would come to Constance’s aid, Severus often visited. Though, he and Constance barely spoke with one another.

Then the big day finally arrived with Constance and Severus welcoming a son whom they’d name “Nicholas” (middle name would either be “Brian” after Dumbledore, “Elphinstone” after Urquart, or “Salazar”-this is Snape we’re talking about…).  While the new parents were delighted to have their infant with them, Constance and Severus had to force themselves to sign both the divorce and adoption papers. At nine days old, baby Nicholas was given to Orbana Hart.

Distraught and wanting to keep Constance and Nicholas safe from any Legilimens (including Voldemort should he be back), Severus placed his memories in a box of vials and had Dumbledore magically mind-wipe/alter any recollections that involved Constance and/or Nicholas. Before the mind-alter took place, Constance (having been told of the matter by McGonagall) confronted Severus to stop him. Still, Snape was adamant and went along with the altering to the distress of Constance. She would say her last goodbye to him.

Choice 2: Ok, so this is a working progress but it would almost be the same as Choice 1. The Mulciber Incident, the hide-away to Flamel House, and Snape Mind-Altering. However, there’s this version.

Once knowing that he was gonna be a father, Severus was lost for words. But, in spite of his fears and self-esteem, he was adamant in keeping his wife and upcoming child safe. With the help of Dumbledore, McGonagall, Pomfrey and Cackle, Constance would be cared for at the Flamel House with Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel. Months later, baby Nicholas came into the world.

Unfortunately, the happiness couldn’t last as (somehow) the Ex-Codice Magic Council got word of a child born to a magical Imperium and a magical Ex-Codice. While the Council isn’t surveillant like how the Ministry Of Magic is, they can still be intimidating and demand respect. So when they found out about baby Nicholas, the Council wanted Snape to either give up their powers or for Snape and Hardbroom to give up their son. 

As Snape needed to work for Dumbledore (and later protect Harry Potter), he couldn’t just give up his own powers. Plus, an Imperium suppressing their magic can be extremely dangerous. Constance, herself, offered to relinquish her own powers but the Council denied that offer as the Code states that it’s the Imperium partner who must be non-magical. 

In the end, after much arguments (and possible threats by Snape, McGonagall, and even Pomfrey), the newborn was taken from his parents and given to Orbana Hart’s orphanage. All with Snape and Hardbroom divorcing.

For the same reasons (being distraught and wanting to keep Constance and Nicholas safe) Snape had Dumbledore magically alter his memories but not without storing the old memories in vials. All to Constance’s upset.

For Further Context: Constance Hardbroom is Potions Teacher and Deputy Headmistress for Cackle’s Academy. Like Severus, she is cold, studious, extremely strict, adores the color black and experiments with newly invented potions. But while Severus is an INTJ, Constance is an ISTJ who greatly values tradition, rules and discipline. With this in mind, Constance seems to believe that everyone has their own place and must stick to it. It’s one of the reasons why she butts heads with the Non-Magical gym teacher, Imogen Drill and the clumsy student, Mildred Hubble (a witch from a Non-Magical family). During “Worst Witch” and “New Worst Witch”, Constance doesn’t seem fond of men; she loathes the idea of Cackle’s being co-ed (especially as the wizards could take more power). Yet, she did show interest in Icy Stevens and Richard Avalon.

okay, so. magic ethics is HUGE in my setting, to the point where there's a whole separate branch of law that's dedicated to all the minutiae of it. it's... quite a complicated topic ahaha.

(also, I'm gonna be covering the ethics of magic in just One country, where the story takes place, but I wanted to mention that this stuff does vary from place to place)

so, first things first. to perform magic, you need a magia conduit. to get a magia conduit, you need a license. to get a license, you need to have finished appropriate studies in appropriate institutions (most commonly, magic-focused academies, but some specialized vocational schools offer it, too), so it's definitely not a thing Anyone can do. and you can very much lose that license for misconduct (this is, of course, not mentioning anything outside the law lol).

ethical violations are the most common reason people lose their licenses. broadly speaking, using magic on/against other people is, in most cases, not allowed. this affects some areas more than others - for example, charm magic, which is essentially manipulation of the psyche. this branch of magic is the most heavily regulated, for obvious reasons lol. it helps that, 1) in most cases, people can tell they've been charmed afterwards (it takes a very adept charm user to fully conceal it), and 2) magic always leaves a trace, so even if the person doesn't remember, it can still be uncovered if they'd been charmed, even a long time ago. rule of thumb is that you may only charm someone if they had given their consent, but even that can get pretty muddy lol

of course, an entirely different set of ethics apply to magic academies and research institutions. which is where some major parts of my story's conflict rise from, actually lol

essentially... wow, I'm struggling to condense everything here because the whole story is very much intertwined heavily with this topic, but. a huge part of magic advancements come from research done on people - specifically those afflicted with magical conditions. ''but wait!'' I hear you say. ''isn't it forbidden to do magic on people?" well! depends. to put it very simply, every study needs to get approved by an ethical committee, who weight the potential harm the subjects may experience vs the potential knowledge gained from the study. and potential knowledge is the most valued aspect of any study (or person).

thus, if you can prove that your study could hugely advance the understanding of some part of magic, then, in terms of ethics, you can get away with a lot.

now, this brings us to an interesting part of the justice system. depending on the severity of a mage's transgression, their punishment may range from a temporary suspension of their license to the death penalty (which, fun fact, Quil almost got HA). somewhere in the middle of that falls exile. and that is by far the most popular form of punishment for disgraced mages (only those who are deemed active threats to society get locked up, which in academia circles happens quite rarely).

why? well. I'd love to go in depth, but this is already getting too long lol. guess you'll have to wait to read the story to get the full picture! but, putting it shortly, remember what I mentioned about potential? yeah. there's also a reason why those exiled mages don't actually get their magia conduits confiscated... sure, other countries would confiscate them if they chose to travel there, but there's the whole Wilderness! you can do whatever there! you can even continue your...studies...that got you exiled.... hm. hmm.....

My interpretations of the goobers summed up :D

Ultra Megalopolis: A city that holds the Ultra Academy, Megalo Tower, and many businesses as well as nightlife, resturants, and activities. Megalo Tower encompasses the central part of the region, with the rest of the city being divided into “sub-cities” due to how large it is. The central part of the city is divided into three categories, Uptown (where Ultra Corp is and branches out into the subcities), Midtown (the nightlife and business hub, also where Megalo Tower is), and Downtown (the crime and gang zone, it has been cut off from the rest of the city. The region as a whole is led by President Diyana, with the Underground portion being led by Saevi.

URS (in general): The Ultra Recon Squad was only established a few years before Soliera was born (late 2220’s), it became an offshoot of Ultra Corp’s police faction, specializing in Ultra Beast research and helping to subdue multidimensional and citywide threats. Professor Protea and Phyco established the Scout Program, a program kids in the Ultra Academy can sign up for to become a Scout. Squads consist of 5-6 scouts including a Captain, Scouts will typically go on missions in pairs. Phyco is part of the Captains committee and his squad is Team 14, and they tend to go on crazier missions.

Characters-

Phyco: The Captain of Team 14 and one of the founders of the URS. In his younger days he worked with Xerosic as a multidimensional scientist with Dulse’s father as their apprentice. After a freak accident involving the death of their colleague, Essentia, Xerosic disappeared and left Phyco on his own. He would marry a supermodel and join Ultra Corp, where thanks to a complicated series of events, he would become one of the founding fathers of the Ultra Recon Squad. A few years later he and his wife would have a daughter, Soliera, but as the years went on his wife would prove to be incredibly narcassistic, projecting her insecurities onto their daughter which would lead to their divorce. Soliera would eventually go with him and live in Ultra Corp. Some time later, he would get called to investigate the blackout crisises around the city, which uncovered a massive conspiracy involving Diyana, Cosmog, and Downtown’s gangs. See canon for the rest of his story with some tweaks.

Soliera: The Offense Scout of Team 14, their second in command, and Phyco’s daughter. Growing up, she was constantly pressured into becoming a spitting image of Marza, her mother. After Phyco and Marza divorced, she went into Marza’s custody at first. She wasn’t allowed to eat anything Marza said she couldn’t, was forced to wear designer brands and follow her mother around like a duckling, and after having enough and lashing out, she went to Phyco and asked to be in his custody, which he would win a bit later. She enrolled in the Scout program, meeting new friends such as Tray, Katlina, and Kasra. She later met Dulse and Vycas after Phyco let her tag along on a mission, and was there to help put their abuser in jail for the rest of his life. Soliera was also a Ultraball player (literally american football but with different rules), and was popular in school. Now officially a Scout, she was sent on her first big mission after Phyco got a call about the blackouts. After losing a friend and almost losing another, Soliera decides she feels like she needs a break, which somehow lands them in Alola where what they initially believed to be a simple rift mission turned into NECROZMA??? Afterwards (i will explain this later don’t worry), she and Tulip; her newfound girlfriend, decided to travel the world for a little bit. Then they get called back to the Aether Foundation thanks to fuckass farm simulator person wanting to restart the universe, Soliera finds out she’s an AUNT!!! Eventually she and Tulip have their own girl, Naomi :]

Dulse: The researcher of Team 14. Born to scientist parents with his twin brother Vycas, Dulse had a cozy life prior to UNIVations. He was a straight A student with hardly any friends aside from one, and was interested in research from an early age. When he was 12, a take your kids to work day devolved into a freak accident that killed their parents and a few other workers. Not wanting to face consequences, the leading supervisor had practically kidnapped Dulse and Vycas for three years. Running experiments on Vycas until he became an empty husk. They were sent to work in the weapons department. Thankfully for them, the URS had caught wind of the shady actions of UNIVations and arrested the supervisor, rescuing the twins. They enrolled into the Scout program, and had testified against their abuser and got him locked away for good. A year later, Vycas disappeared, leading Dulse to fall into a depression. Phyco, worried due to his diagnosis of PTSD, had him be fostered by Janae and Fyna, Zossie’s moms. After becoming a Scout, his first big mission led to him losing his friend, finding his brother, almost losing him again, and finally being able to find closure for his childhood. He’s initially against it when Phyco states they’re going to Alola, but eventually gives in. After having Necrozma calm tf down, he and Sabrina (newfound gf he and Soliera BOTH pulled thanks to Alola 😭) had moved into Akala Island. (This ship is so fucking out of nowhere but I can’t deny a good himbo x bad bitch dynamic). They eventually had a daughter, Medo, and would move to Unova where a few years later they adopted another Megalopian child, Elvira, and had a son, Auryn.

Zossie: The youngest of Team 14 and a Beast Handler. She was abandoned at the doorstep of Ultra Corp as an infant, where she was taken in by Phyco and later was adopted by two of the original Scouts, Fyna and Janae. She was raised in and around Ultra Corp, and when she turned 10, she enrolled into the Scout program. Zossie blew through the ranks within her first school year, and was appointed as a Scout, the youngest on record. At some point, Dulse became her foster brother and having already lost one sibling, he was initially extremely overprotective over her, much to her annoyance. She guided Islea/Caze and Ximon through the Scout Program, and after the series of events that happened in the PLC arc, she was officially made a Scout of Team 14. Her first real mission was Alola, and she’s a pivotal figure in the story, being a rival to the player and raising the Cosmog that would later be taken by Necrozma. As she grew older, her missions got more important, and eventually she would become a Pokemon teacher back at the Ultra Academy while living on Melemele Island.

ULTRA MOON/ Z-A AU EXCLUSIVE- (only two of them get huge changes)

Soliera: Got with Kasra after the PLC arc instead of Tulip, and closer to her cousin Ace. After he went to the Ultra Academy, she took him in and essentially became his guardian. After Ace decided to go to Kalos with Mari, she secretly followed behind and accidentally got wrapped up in the Z-A Royale, managing to reach Rank K.

Dulse: Got with Andrex after PLC due to him never going to Alola, he mitosed Mari when he was 19 going on 20, due to his body having a stress reaction from burnout and still trying to find his brother. Was essentially a single father until Andrex stepped in. They later had a son, Cali. Dulse did go to Kalos with Mari and Ace… where he eventually got lost and despite not actively participating in the Z-A Royale, CONSTANTLY gets jumped looking for his daughter (and accidentally made himself a cryptid, way to go dumbass you’re a Kalosian urban legend now)

(OCS will come seperately but there are a few I will touch on rq)

Tray, Katlina, Kasra, and Andrex: All members of Team 14, the former beast handler, stealth scout, tech correspondant, and defense unit respectively. Tray unfortunately died in the PLC arc at the hands of Vantablack :( leaving Katlina, his girlfriend, to fall into a depression. Kasra is the cousin of Saevi, the Undergrounds mayor, and Andrex is a celebrity scout (model and later talk show host).

Vycas: Dulse’s twin brother, he accidentally got caught up in Downtown’s gangs after running off and through an unfortunate series of events, started leading Vantablack, one of the Tri-Alliances gangs. He would grow into the role in the next 2 years, until the PLC arc where he and Dulse reunited… anddd he would get crushed by a building. He’s fine though just a bit fucked up. Due to experiments done on him prior, he has enhanced strength and speed. He doesn’t really know how to control his strength though 😭

Mari and Ace: Dulse’s daughter and Soliera’s cousin respectively, both being in their teens, they’re best friends and ended up being enamored by the Pokéverse, convincing their guardians to let them go. Mari being a skater and Ace being a hoverboarder, they tend to get around quickly. Mari just wants to explore Kalos and ends up wrapped in Hotel Z’s thing, while Ace wants to go for the Z-A Royale.

Umbrella Academy Daemon Headcanon

*Updated Version*

So I did a daemon headcanon for the Umbrella Academy quite some time ago, and now after Season 3 I wanted to do an updated version. I’ve only truly changed Ben’s, and that’s because I couldn’t think of a good choice for him back then. Everyone else stays the same, but I’ve hopefully explained the choices better. Hope you like it!

Luther: A rottweiler. Rottweilers are often thought of as very aggressive and dangerous dogs, but like with most fighting dogs with bad behaviour it is a result of the owner and not the dog themselves. Reginald’s abuse and manipulation made Luther overly aggressive, clinging to rules and order and his position in command and control of his siblings. But once he was free from Reginald’s grasp and realized the terribleness of his master, he becomes gentler, kinder, and a much better big brother. Rottweilers are overall kind of goofy dogs, not the brightest bunch and definitely on the more stubborn side - much like lovable himbo Luther. But they are fierce protectors of their families, and love their people with all their heart. Better with others rather than on their own, a big, clumsy, lovable, goofy, stubborn mountain of a dog seems perfect for representing who Luther truly is as well as the journey he takes as a character.

Diego: a coyote. A coyote is a really good representation of Diego, especially as contrast/compliment to the daemons of those around him. In the earlier seasons, a coyote would be very contrasting against Luther’s rottweiler; Diego is not quite the prim proper leader Reginald wanted, but more of a street scraper loner type; And the similar yet very different canine daemons would likely have just as much animosity towards each other as their people did. But in later seasons we see Diego come out of his shell and become much less tightly wound. Coyotes have been known to play with discarded dog toys in backyards after dark, and Diego definitely enjoys a good bit of fun as much as a good fight. In later seasons as well, his coyote would be an amazing compliment to his story with Lila, in his journey of realizing he’s not better on his own.

Bonus Lila: Badger. Lila is stubborn and aggressive and a little bits nuts in the most fun way, which is really represented by the curmudgeon gruffness of a badger who would be as blunt and chaotic as its person. However, the true poetry of her daemon is with Diego’s coyote daemon. Despite both animals being independent, accomplished hunters on their own, there are many documented cases of badgers and coyotes hunting together. The two predators work together, the badger going into the dens and the coyote catching the rabbit that is scared out. Together, the unlikely pair is much more successful at hunting than on their own. I think these two sort of loners would have daemons that reflect themselves well, but really shine in their polar-opposite, yet-somehow-the-same relationship with each other.

Allison: Great Grey Shrike. These birds are dainty and pretty to look at, but are not someone to mess with: underestimated, but powerful and willing to do whatever it takes to survive/get what they want. These birds are desert creatures, and I find desert animals are very tenacious survivors. All throughout the seasons we’ve seen how important her people are to Allison - she will do anything for her family, her daughter, her husband - and the great grey shrike is also extremely family oriented. It’s often called “the butcher bird” because it hunts small rodents, reptiles and insects and then stores them in a makeshift larder by impaling them on cactus thorns or sharp branches. Its a very clever method because it keeps the carcasses up out of reach of other animals, and keeps a good supply of food available for their young. In season one I picked this bird for Allison because she had a “ruthless” energy to her that seemed willing to do anything to achieve her goals, and now after season three I completely agree with my choice.

Klaus: Black footed ferret aka the domesticated ferret. Ferrets are animals that do better in groups, and Klaus is an incredibly social person. Ferrets are often thought of as goofy, mischievous tricksters - and while this is true of the animal and of Klaus - they can also be very clever and quick on the uptake. Klaus doesn’t seem it because of his relaxed appearance and drug-related history, but he has a record of figuring out things and picking up on stuff well before any of his other siblings clue in. But no one listens to him because he seems like a clown. Ferrets are also predators and while Klaus isn’t overly aggressive, he is very willing to throw down with people who clearly outmatch him, especially in defence of those he loves. I think a ferret is a perfect choice for Klaus, because everyone is very aware a ferret is a goofy, mischievous ass-hole who will steal your underwear and wallet and hide it under the couch, but ferrets are so endearing that we love them anyway. Klaus is a tender soul who has learned to let the troubles of the world roll off him, but he cares about his family and about Dave - ferrets are incredibly social devoted creatures and a lot of people forget they can be cuddly companions in the face of their chaos.

Five: A Portia Jumping Spider. While Five is incredibly devoted to his family, I didn’t feel a super social creature fit him very well. He grew up in an apocalypse by himself, and even before and after that he loves his family but greatly cherishes his space and time to himself. This kind of spider is a relatively small jumping spider (space-time jump puns entirely intended), but they are insanely smart. They’ve been known to create multiple-step traps and methods to hunt. And among their prey they hunt other spiders, which is an assassin-who-kills-assassins parallel that felt too good to give up. They are problem solvers who take down prey much larger than themselves - which is a perfect description of both Five and the Portia Jumping Spider. So while I’m sure other creatures could fit Five well and show off his softer side, the narrative potential of this spider just seem perfect to me.

Ben: A Black Cat. I hadn’t been able to pick a daemon for Ben before, but the closest I got was a crow, largely due to the death-symbology of the animal. However with more seasons of Ben character development (including Sparrow Ben) I think he would be a black domestic cat. The omen symbology is still there and works for his self-power-loathing in season one as well as the moody-ghost-vibes, but also just has such cat energy. He wants to be loved desperately, and doesn’t have any idea how to obtain it so becomes an ass-hole nuisance, because then you are paying some sort of attention to him even if its not positive. He can be super smug and stubborn, but also incredibly vulnerable. He wants to be important and cherished, and when he doesn’t get that he knocks over a glass in frustrated boredom. Despite the differences between Umbrella Ben and Sparrow Ben, I can see both characters as different reactions of a cat being neglected; a cat who when neglected becomes anti-social through standoffish avoidant and rude behaviour, and a cat who when neglected lashes out with anger biting at your ankles and knocking over all your pictures while yelling the house down. Both want love and affection but have different coping strategies to try and get it.

Viktor: A golden mole. The golden mole is a desert animal, and as I said earlier, I find desert creatures tenacious survivors. Thematically, a tiny little mole would work really well for the first season, because its a blind little creature overlooked and thought unimportant, but its keen sense of hearing would fit well in with the power reveal. Then in later seasons when Viktor becomes more confident in himself and his powers, the mole would work well because despite being small, the golden mole is called “the sand shark” or “shark of the desert”: it burrows around under the fine sand and pulls unsuspecting insects under, an inescapable doom for desert insects who don’t know its coming until its too late. This unstoppable force energy in a tiny unsuspecting package works very well with the self-confidant world-ender vibe Viktor achieves by Season Three. Where first we’d only see the loner, independent, introverted side of this tiny mole and character, we’d grow to see the power and confidence and assured capability of a dangerous predator who is also cute as a button.

I'm so confused over how the Sparrow Academy timeline works?? So, Reginald decides to buy a different set of superpowerd babies. Alright, sure. What happened to that timeline's version of the Umbrella siblings though? Are they like chilling with their biological parents, were they offed as babies, or did by returning to the present they replaced their timelines' selves? I think the first option would be such a cool concept because it would explore who they could've been if they were never taken but it's more likely Reginald "took them out if the picture" so there wouldn't be any complications to his plans. And the third option, also possible??? I have no idea. I'm not even gonna go into the whole Old!Five with the correct equation time-traveling to a present that doesn't exist because my brain hurts. If you're just as confused as me then I'm so sorry for the long ask 🙏

Haha, dw anon you’re good :) I think many of us have been a bit confused by the show’s timeline because sometimes it doesn’t make sense lol, and the show hasn’t expanded much on what time travel rules it’s using yet.

But to answer your question, yeah, there are versions of the umbrellas who weren’t adopted by Reginald in the sparrow timeline. Of course, we don’t know what happened to them since s3 isn’t out yet, but I doubt we’ll see any of them. There are already a lot of characters listed for s3, so introducing another set of umbrellas for that timeline will just make the plot unnecessarily convoluted. Maybe someone will mention it, let’s say Klaus, ‘Hey, does that mean there are versions of ourselves in this timeline?’ And then Five would be like, ‘Probably, yeah,’ and it’s never brought up again.

And honestly, I’m not completely opposed to the idea that Reginald killed them. It’d make sense, he knows they’re the ones who caused the apocalypse. He may want to tie up lose ends and get rid of them so they wouldn’t cause trouble for him, whether he adopted them or not.

Ha, yeah, for that bit about old five, I’m sorry to tell you anon but I’ve got no fucking clue 😂 it makes my brain hurt too. I’ve considered that tua is a multiverse? So there are several timelines, and the one Five sent his boomer self back in is a timeline that exists separately from the sparrow one they created. Or, there is one timeline, but that timeline hadn’t branched yet to create the sparrow academy, so Klaus throwing the fire extinguisher was still a present that existed. Or maybe Five lied about the equation, so old man Five was sent back to the exact same situation Five was in the beginning of s1, and nothing changed.

But then again, I’m not sure😂 so if anyone knows more and would like to add on, that’d be greatly appreciated!

"okay, I get why you're here but why did I have to get dragged into this?" you grumbled to Rin Obami, your charismatic brother. your driver stopped in front of the main entrance of hyakkaou academy. So this was where the head of the hundred devouring families ruled.

"because you're the heiress of the Obami family after me." the swindler turned to face you, nudging you teasingly. "and I actually want you to join in on the fun." he joked. You rolled your eyes at this notion. He took your hand and pulled you out of the car. He Let go of your hand and proceeded to walk beside you in the halls with his head held high. His true emotions hidden under his smiling mask.

You knew he doesn't always smile like this. Carrying the family name on his shoulders whittled the poor man down at such a young age. You were born a year later. Rin was attached to you by the hip. He chose to protect you. You were thankful that Rin kept you from experiencing all that pressure and helped you grow up differently from him. He wanted you to experience the things he hadn't had a chance to see.

Rin wasn't just your brother, he grew up as a father figure for you. This was the least you could do to support him.

Soon, you reached the closed door of the student council room. In the hallway, everyone else from momobami family branches. You glanced at Rin's unwavering posture before you plastered on your practiced charismatic grin. you dove in head first to reconvene with your old colleagues.

It was time to get ready to take back the crown from the reigning queen of the families.

The introduction was quick and straight to the point. This election was about the other family heads going up against the current leader. You couldn't care less about this whole vote thing. You knew Rin would say the opposite. He must've hatched a plan to get more votes despite being the new kid by now.

You planned on playing a simple game of rock paper scissors against your brother in front of a moderator by the end of the day. But plans changed.

The cafeteria was littered with people trying to gamble their vote chips away for fun. Some people gambled out of boredom, some gambled to rise up the ranks and maybe even get a shot of winning the seat of student council president. Either way, you didn't care.

"do you have something up your sleeve, Rin?" you asked as you slurped some of your ramen. Ibara's eyes lit up as he rambled about the new scumcoin system Rin came up with while the man himself just sat with that same charismatic grin as he scrolled through his phone.

The small tranquil moment was ruined when a student came up to the table, clearing his throat to gain your table's attention. Rin placed his phone on the table then rested his chin on his hand in anticipation. This aught to be good.

"hello," the man who spoke was a lean male with long blond locks that framed his face. His hands were tucked into his pressed red uniform. "I was wondering if anyone was willing to gamble their vote chips with me." he said, pulling out about ten vote chips from his pocket. Rin's forced smile grew wider at the man. The slight twitch in his grin didn't go unnoticed to you. Was he irritated because the stranger interrupted one of the tranquil moments he can enjoy or was he amused because a student was willing to gamble with him?

"well, I'm not interested in gambling. Sorry." you said, taking another slurp of ramen as you tapped your sole vote chip on the desk. You were startled when you saw Rin shift in his seat enthusiastically.

"I'm willing to gamble." Rin raised his hand up only for him to falter and try to put it back down. "but I don't have many votes yet…" he pouted. You turned to see that the blonde was just smirking at your brother while he tossed the chips in his palm.

"that's fine. I think we have something to gamble on." the stranger said, turning to you with a glint in his eye. Your eyes snapped back to your smug brother who still smiled, only this time it was filled with malice. No. he was not serious with this, right? Right? Rin arched his brow at the male, gesturing for him to continue.

"We can play a bit of concentration." the stranger said, pulling a deck of cards from his other pocket. "if you win, I'll give you all my votes, I have 12 so far." he said, tossing his votes on the lunch table. His gaze turned to you, his smirking widening. "but if I win, I get to have her as my kitty." he pointed at you. You stood up in shock. No way. No fucking way.

You opened your mouth to speak only to get stopped by Rin who stood beside you. "we have a deal." your brother lent his hand for the stranger to shake. The stranger only chuckled before he linked his hand with your brother's and shook it.

"woah woah woah! Hold on a second!" you tried to gain the pair's attention. "first off, we don't even know you." you pointed out, crossing your arms. "second, I am not going to be used for a gamble, Rin." you grumbled, poking your hand into Rin's chest causing the man to chuckle in amusement.

"oh come on, (y/n), it might be fun~ trust me on this one. Right mr…" Rin tried to reassure you. He paused and turned to the smirking blonde in front of you.

"chishiya." he finished your brother's sentence, flashing you with a menacing smirk that made a shiver shoot up your spine.

"well, chishiya. Let's get started?" Rin waved his hand over the table, inviting him to get the cards out. Chishiya chuckled before he nodded, opening the new deck and placing it on the table.

Even though you trusted your brother to win this, his grin felt like it had a different intention. You could only hope it wasn't the case, that Rin was actually taking this gamble seriously.

Rin was definitely not taking this seriously. That bastard.

You and ibara were on the edge of your seat as you watched Chishiya get three pairs in a row. You didn't know if Rin was fucking with you or if chishiya was just that good.

"and that's the end." chishiya said, pulling the final pair he needed to win the game. You looked over at Rin and instead of that old fake grin he always had on or that scowl that occasionally would slip out if he lost, his face wore a small taunting pout. It took all your strength to jump up from your seat and strangle him.

"such a bummer... What can i do? I lost fair and square." Rin shrugged. He slouched as he sat back down and let out a small disappointed sigh. It was blatantly obvious that he was faking it. "a deal's a deal. (y/n) is your new kitty." Rin gestured to Chishiya to look at you. you unconsciously gritted your teeth.

"your little act is so obvious despite being raised by swindlers." you rolled your eyes. Your statement gained you your brother's attention. "okay, spill it. Why the fuck did you decide to lose on purpose?" you grumbled. You didn't care if Chishiya could listen in on the conversation. You needed answers. Now.

Rin darkly chuckled. There was definitely an ulterior motive here. You were going to get to the bottom of it.

"come on, (y/n). This is going to be a good learning experience for you. Besides, i'm sure chishiya will throw you for a loop and maybe even help you enjoy your stay here!" Rin encouraged you. You were speechless. So he really wanted you to do this, huh?

"ugh, fine. It's not like i have a choice." you groaned. You stood from your seat and walked toward the lean male. "hello chishiya..." you said curtly, causing the blonde's smirk to grow wider.

"hello little kitty~" he replied to you. He took a step closer to taunt you. You felt your cheeks grow hot at this notion. "we should get going. So much for you to see in wonderland~" he sang. You could've sworn he winked at you before he turned his back and walked out of the cafeteria.

You glanced back at your smug brother and his friend one last time before you jogged out of the cafeteria to catch up with your new master.

You could tell that this was going to be hell.

Chishiya led you into one of the many lounge rooms. He opened the door to reveal three people inside. There was a girl with braids in her hair, her feet up on the coffee table in the middle of the room. There was a short-haired girl who sat beside a soft looking guy, a chain wrapped around his neck, the words 'house pet' visible from where you stood by the entrance.

"welcome back, chishiya!" the girl with the braids said, kicking her feet off the table. It was then she finally properly noticed you. She tilted her head in confusion. It seemed like they rarely had guests in their little friend group.

Chishiya placed the stack of vote chips he accumulated for the day on the coffee table before he sat down himself. His observant eyes locked onto yours, telling you to sit down with the group.

"are you going to introduce us?" the short-haired girl asked. the anxious boy who fiddled with the chain around his neck. You sat down between chishiya and the girl with the braids who chewed on some gum stick while her eyes roamed up and down your body.

"this is (y/n), my new kitty." chishiya whispered with a proud smirk, his fingers ghosting over the skin of your arm, causing you to shiver and pull away. Chishiya couldn't help but chuckle. "(y/n), the girl beside you is Kuina, the short-haired girl on the doggy's lap is usagi and the house pet is Arisu. Get acquainted with them cause you'll be hanging out with them until you can get out of here."

You rolled his eyes at him. Why was he so casual about this? Well, you weren't just going to take this lying down. You stood up. Chishiya only arched his brow at you expectantly. You felt a strong urge to punch him.

"okay, what's the big deal? Why did you play against my brother and why did you use me as a prize?" you asked angrily. The other three people just watched this unfold in their seats, interested to see where this conversation was going.

"well, because playing against new students are fun. Gives them an impression what gambling here is all about. It wasn't my fault that your brother agreed to our gamble." chishiya replied nonchalantly. He leaned in his seat, picked up a vote chip from the small pile and started playing with it in his fingers, aiming to spite you. And boy, did it work.

"so how can I get out of this deal?" you asked, crossing your arms over your chest. All you wanted was to support Rin and help him though the fog that clouded his mind at times. But now, you're doomed to stay by chishiya's side. Not if you can handle it. There has to be a way out.

chishiya wasn't all that uptight. He was more than willing to play along and negotiate. You never realized the glint in his eyes had the effect of get on people's nerves easily. Maybe he was doing it on purpose to anger you more. Emotions and gambling did not bode well. He was using people's emotions against them. And frankly, this spell was working on you too. The irritation of not being able to support Rin was nipping at you and you just wanted to go.

And it was clear that you were willing to do anything to grasp that freedom.

The only thing chishiya has to do now was wait for you to bite down. With enough patience, you'll playing right into his little game, a truly difficult one to get out of.

To chishiya, You just might be his most amusing little plaything.

"how about this, you can challenge me to any game you wish, whenever you feel like it." chishiya proposed, making sure the other people in the room could hear him loud and clear, making them witnesses to the deal he wanted to make.

"there's a catch, is there?"

"bingo~" he sang, slouching in his seat, "the bets will always stay the same. If you win, you'll get to leave. No questions asked." he said as he stood up. He took a step toward you, further startling you when he placed his fingers under your chin, making you look into his cat-like eyes. "but if I win, you'll have to stay and get to know me better~"

You reel back in disgust. No fucking way. He must be kidding. By the looks of his widening grin, it was definitely a sick joke. He couldn't help but laugh at your reaction. "oh how dirty~" he teased, dropping his arm around your shoulder. "don't worry, those aren't my intentions. I meant you'll have to stay with my colleagues and I and hang out with us until you have guts you challenge me again." you let out the breath you were nervously holding in. "so, do we have a deal?" he finally asked, lending a hand out for you to shake.

You didn’t see any other option so you swallowed up your pride and shake the blonde's hand, thinking of the games and strategies to play against the blonde man above you.

It was harder than you thought.

Everyday for the next few weeks, you would challenge him to a game and everyday he would catch on to your strategy and crush to a pulp.

It wasn't all that bad, kuina, arisu and usagi were there to keep you company, getting you to laugh when you felt down from another loss.

"you know, you should take a break and have a bit of fun with us." Kuina nudged you out of your thoughts, handing you seven uno cards. You sighed before taking it from her, albeit, very hesitantly. "oh come on, don't look at me like that. There's no bet involved." kuina reassured you, making you smile, looking at the starting card, a yellow 6.

After playing for a while, the topics branched out from the game to the only person not in the room, chishiya.

"chishiya might look laid-back and easy to get to, but he's really clever." Arisu said, placing down a red stop card to keep usagi from playing her card. "that's why I gambled with him and That was a very bad decision." he shivered in his seat, causing the rest of you to burst into a fit of laughter.

"but really, (y/n), he cares about you, more than the rest of us." usagi said, watching you place down a +4, looking up from the table in confusion.

"look, chishiya is very difficult to read but it isn't impossible, especially if you're his 'colleague'." kuina made quotation marks with her hand. "he would ask us about your well-being every day." kuina smirked, locking eyes with Arisu who smiled back at her.

"and remember those chocolates I gave you after one of your games? Those were from him, said I should give them to you if you looked upset with the loss." Arisu continued Kuina's statement, his eyes locked on kuina's hand that picked up four cards from the deck.

you felt your face heat up. Could it be that the emotionless chishiya actually feels something for you? Did you feel something for him?

Well, if you based your emotions on your quickening heartbeat, maybe that was the case. You're in love with your master and you haven't realized it before it was too late. You're in too deep. The group watched as you buried your face into your hands in thought. What could you do to confirm your suspicions? You dug through your thoughts for a while before a lightbulb came up. You had a plan. You looked up just in time to see chishiya walk into the room with his usual sloppy smirk.

"oooh~ what are we talking about?" he asked, plopping down beside you, leaning to look at the current game on the table. The trio only giggled before continuing on with the game. He didn't even bat an eye when he saw you staring at him in the corner of his eye. Just that small inkling of attention, made his ego grow larger. He was already in too deep, what's a few more feet, right?

"I wanna challenge you again." you said out of the blue, placing your cards on the table. Your words cause the rest of the group to gape in shock. You already challenged him today. You were already prepared to fight him again?

Chishiya arched his brow at you In amusement. He was prepared to hear what you had to say. His eyes followed your figure as You took all the uno cards and arranged them neatly into a deck.

"we play a 1 on 1 game of uno." you proposed as you shuffled the deck in your hand. "but I want to change the bets this time." your words caused the trio to murmur in confusion. What were you doing? Chishiya only chuckled at you, waiting for the rest of your proposal.

"if I win, I get to ask you a question and if you win, you can have my hand for life." chishiya's eyes widened in realization before he chuckled. He realized that you finally caught on to what he felt. The trio seemed to be left in the dark.

"so if I win, we get to be in a mutual relationship with one another?" chishiya cleared it up for everyone in the room. You nodded. Arisu and kuina's jaws dropped to the floor while usagi watched the scene unfold with a small smile.

"well, if you insist." chishiya shrugged, clasping his hands and resting his chin on them, waiting for the game to begin.

Alas, the game didn't go as chishiya planned.

Throughout the whole game, you seemed to have the upper hand. Chishiya's expression changed from confident to anxious in a few turns as his hand grew while yours shrank.

"this is the first time I've ever seen him with a frown during a game." usagi whispered to kuina who had to stifle her giggles so as to not interrupt chishiya's focus.

"could it be? Has our chishiya underestimated (y/n)?" kuina whispered back, unable to keep her giggles in for much longer. Chishiya snapped his head toward the pair and glared at them. Arisu has never seen him this worked up in his life.

You placed down your final card, a red +2 onto the pile, yelling 'uno!' with a triumphant grin on his face. The trio deflated in disappointed. This was the one game they wanted chishiya to win but unfortunately, that didn't happen.

Chishiya let out a dejected sigh. The one time where winning matters, he decided to not take it seriously and lose. "Okay, you won fair and square." he said, the usual melodic tone in his voice replaced with a slightly disappointed breathiness. "well, what was it you wanted to ask?" he asked, dropping his remaining cards into the messy pile.

"Well," you said, crossing your legs together, your ego boosted by the disappointed look the blonde wore in front of you. "I wanted to ask if you still want to have that mutual relationship." you said, mimicking the smirk he usually wore.

Chishiya's slight frown turned into a genuine smile. So he was getting what he wanted either way. Even a person like him couldn't hide his happiness. He tapped his finger on his chin, pretending to think. His little act caused the trio to stay on the edge of their seats in anticipation. "well…" chishiya pretended to ponder for a moment, watching as his grin grew wider by the moment. "your determination was really fun to play with… maybe a serious status wouldn't be that bad." he feigned a neutral shrug.

"so is that a yes? Are you like together together now?" Kuina asked excitedly, wanting confirmation. You and chishiya laughed before nodding your heads in unison.

It all started with a gamble, putting you in what you thought was a horrible position. But now you have your brother to take for losing the gamble that started It all. Because without him playing along, you would never have met chishiya and his gang. You never would've had fun with them.

Without Rin, you would have never fallen in love with your former master, chishiya.
