#1998 worst witch

H.B.'s Hair:

You know, it seems that throughout the three seasons of the 1998 "Worst Witch", Hardbroom's night attire would be the same; purple silk pajamas with a Chinese (?) robe (did she take a trip to China and got that along with her black cheongsam or were those gifts?). But then there's her hair.

In season 1, her hair was kept in a tight, updo ponytail.

In season 2, her hair was down but there was a braid wrapped around her head.

Then in season 3, it was all out.

Makes you wonder why the producers had that done. Was it deliberate? Was it to show how, despite being the same old H.B., Mildred's influence seemed to have allowed Constance to "Let her hair down"?

I haven't seen "Babylon 5" (outside of some Jason Carter's clips), but I can't help but see Delenn's dress as something Constance Hardbroom would wear.

The woman who sold me this told me that I would definitely turn heads? Yeah well, if they turned much further, you’d be sued for whiplash.

Anyway, I've done this a long while back and thought it'd go well with Snoliday. Not sure if this goes with Frost or Lights though...

The Snolidays are back!!

The holiday season is upon us and we’re inviting everyone to partake in the Snolidays 2023 Fest! A perfect chance to revel in headcanons, have Severus demonstrate your favourite traditions, and share the holiday spirit with all of us! Winter holidays of all religions and nations are welcome and encouraged!

How it works:

Art, writing, headcanons, meta – we’d love to share all of your creations with the rest of the fandom.

In order to help spark the inspiration, we’ve chosen a theme for each of the four weeks leading up to Christmas: ‘Frost’, ‘Lights, ‘Preparations’, and ‘Festivities’.

We’ve also included 7 prompts for each week. You can combine several of them in one piece, skip the ones that don’t inspire you, or even create multiple works for a single prompt!

Don’t worry about tackling the themes in order, or about being late. In fact, if you have older winter-related works you’d like to show the Snapedom again, go ahead and send them in!

The Worst Witch December Holiday Fic Collection 2024

Hello, TWW fandom! I know we've just wound down from the excellent Halloween Drabbles Exchange that @heathtrash has recently hosted, but there is a December Holidays "Guess the Author" fic collection up for anyone who wants to participate!

When you post your works, you'll be anonymous until 9:00pm AEST, Christmas Eve (24/12/2024). Your gift is the satisfaction of being right & having new TWW fic to read, or the disappointment of being wrong that quickly leaves because there's new TWW fic to read!!! Whether you're writing fic for the books, the movie, the 1998 series, The New Worst Witch, or the 2017 series, any form of The Worst Witch is welcome! <3

Please ensure that you read the FAQ and Rules carefully. They can be found on the AO3 page linked at the bottom of this post. If you have any questions, feel free to throw it in the comments of this post or DM me here on Tumblr!

I have a theory that there's like, an intrinsic cosmic principle related to the aesthetics of any given Miss Cackle and Miss Hardbroom pair, and it's like that 'Antony must be 25% sluttier than Cleopatra' thing only more like, 'HB must be at least 75% edgier than Miss Cackle'

my evidence is that 2017 Miss Cackle is full pink cottagecore grandma aesthetic, which is why HB only has to go as far as looking like a Victorian governess in mourning - meanwhile, 90s Cackle is a fully Committed goth librarian, and that's how you end up with a Miss Hardbroom who's stalking around in a pleather turtleneck maxidress.

Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches stood at the top of a high mountain surrounded by a pine forest. It looked more like a prison than a school, with its gloomy grey walls and turrets. Sometimes you could see the pupils on their broomsticks flitting like bats above the playground wall, but usually the place was half hidden in mist, so that if you had glanced up at the mountain you would probably not have noticed the building was there at all. Everything about the school was dark and shadowy. There were long, narrow corridors and winding staircases.

About Severus's Friendship With The Malfoys...:

Would Snape still be friends with them had he lived after the Second Wizarding War? I'm trying to do a fic series where Snape is (magically) brought back to life and reunites with Constance Hardbroom (of the 1998 "Worst Witch") and their long-lost son, Nick Hobbes (of "Weirdsister College") in 2006. Snape and Hardbroom would remarry and have a daughter, Morrigan, in 2009.

With this in mind, how would Constance and Nick view the Malfoys. Constance does think highly of the rich, judging by the Hallows. Yet, it's doubtful that she wouldn't be very thrilled with Lucius or Narcissa (ESPECIALLY when hearing about Cedric Diggory and Charity Burbage). Though I'm not sure how she'd feel about Draco, Astoria and Scorpius. So it's uncertain on whether of not Constance would let Nick or Morrigan anywhere near such a family. No matter how much Severus would try to defend them. Not to mention, Constance would've probably put some blame on Lucius for Severus getting in with the Death-Eaters in the first place.

What also wouldn't help was that, (in my fics), the Rowling Wizards and the Murphy Wizards are of different magical "breeds". The Rowling Wizards are known as the eccentric, powerful and progressive "Imperiums" (or "Barmies") while the Murphy Wizards are the traditional, limited, Muggle-like "Ex-Codices" (or "Killjoys" or even "Faux-blood"). If anything Lucius (and maybe Narcissa) wouldn't think to highly of the "Faux-blood" Constance. The Malfoys would even look down on the wealthy Hallows for it too.

Then there's Nick; knowing him, I doubt he'd be so anamored (if that's the right word) with any of the Malfoys. He didn't even care much for the rich girl, Ethel Hallow. Not even asking her if she can use her wealth/connections to help with his endeavors. With Draco being Ethel's male counterpart, Nick would be annoyed with him, if not more. Then again, since this is post-"Deathly Hallows", Draco would've mellowed out a bit (especially with Astoria and their son). So, maybe Nick would, at least try to get along with Draco and maybe Narcissa. As for Lucius, I can't help but see Nick punch him after an insult too far about Constance, his Ex-Codice upbringing or his friends. Either way, Arthur Weasley would be proud.

Still, what are your thoughts? Would Severus still try to reconcile with the Malfoys? Would Constance and/or Nick stop him? Or would Severus only stay in touch with Draco and Astoria? Would there still be some emotional distance?
