I’m going to send u something you can actually respond to this time instead of acting like the godless pagan animal that I am, bc I thought of smth that in think you’d laugh about 🥰
So my first ever boyfriend was this gorgeous goth boy that everyone envied and he was obsessed with me—as he should’ve been, bc I was and am That Bitch. Anyway, he insisted he was a werewolf and the first time he met my blue collar alcoholic father he said, “Sir I’m going to stay away from your daughter on full moons bc I don’t want to hurt her” and I have never wanted to apologize to my father as bad as I wanted to in that moment but the wtf look he gave me on our porch that day shames me even now, 15ish years later. The boyfriend then cheated on me in summer school, so fast leaves young love.
I'm actually losing it A WERWOLF LMAOOOOO I HAVE NO WORDS

Idk who I heard make this argument for the first time but it was definitely one of the final straws that caused me to begin Christian deconstruction
Obviously there were other factors, like getting my first job and meeting people that I really liked and respected (much more so than most Christians I knew) that were not not religious, really hating Christian music, literally having nightmares about the end times, realizing that I had prayed for god to help me with my chronic pain for literally years, being abused by my Christian parents and people within the church saying “it’s all gods plan” or “they’re doing what god wants”, prophecies not coming true, being discouraged from following my dreams because of god, rly looking at the misogyny, starting to realize I may be a touch fruity, and being extremely drawn to witchcraft
If god is unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.
If god is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good.
If god is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist?
If god created everything then that means he created evil. And if that is the case what does that say about god?

The nazis that you see in movies are as much a historical fantasy as vikings with horned helmets and samurai cutting people in half.
The nazis were not some vague evil that wanted to hurt people for the sake of hurting them. They had specific goals which furthered a far right agenda, and they wanted to do harm to very specific groups, (largely slavs, jews, Romani, queer people, communists/leftists, and disabled people.)
The nazis didn't use soldiers in creepy gas masks as their main imagery that they sold to the german people, they used blond haired blue eyed families. Nor did they stand up on podiums saying that would wage an endless and brutal war, they gave speeches about protecting white Christian society from degenerates just like how conservatives do today.
Nazis weren't atheists or pagans. They were deeply Christian and Christianity was part of their ideology just like it is for modern conservatives. They spoke at lengths about defending their Christian nation from godless leftism. The ones who hated the catholic church hated it for protestant reasons. Nazi occultism was fringe within the party and never expected to become mainstream, and those occultists were still Christian, none of them ever claimed to be Satanists or Asatru.
Nazis were also not queer or disabled. They killed those groups, before they had a chance to kill almost anyone else actually. Despite the amount of disabled nazis or queer/queer coded nazis you'll see in movies and on TV, in reality they were very cishet and very able bodied. There was one high ranking nazi early on who was gay and the other nazis killed him for that. Saying the nazis were gay or disabled makes about as much sense as saying they were Jewish.
The nazis weren't mentally ill. As previously mentioned they hated disabled people, and this unquestionably included anyone neurodivergent. When the surviving nazi war criminals were given psychological tests after the war, they were shown to be some of the most neurotypical people out there.
The nazis weren't socialists. Full stop. They hated socialists. They got elected on hating socialists. They killed socialists. Hating all forms of lefitsm was a big part of their ideology, and especially a big part of how they sold themselves.
The nazis were not the supervillians you see on screen, not because they didn't do horrible things in real life, they most certainly did, but because they weren't that vague apolitical evil that exists for white American action heros to fight. They did horrible things because they had a right wing authoritarian political ideology, an ideology that is fundamentally the same as what most of the modern right wing believes.

Naturalistic Paganism
Now I've read Green's book Atheopaganism: An Earth-Honoring Path Rooted in Science, which stands as one of the most important books I've ever consumed, for life in general and in light of my recent journey into the study of Paganism. It has given me the comfort of knowing that I can be both spiritual and skeptical. That's one of the most beautiful things about Paganism, really. It is tolerant and relentlessly defies rules and religious dogma. Paganism does not create borders like other types of spiritual belief systems.
Reading this book made me feel a sense of belonging--like someone was reassuring me that I'm not alone in my thoughts and feelings. And I cannot stay quiet about this book because a) I'm hoping I can let other people know they aren't alone and b) I'm now certain that this worldview is fundamental to my life's path and the person I want to become.
At the start of his book, Green points out something that, being a staunch atheist for many years, I had often ignored or pushed to the back of mind: "In reaction to the supernaturalistic religions of our time, we sometimes end up throwing out the proverbial baby with the bathwater." In this case, the baby is transformative religious experience, and the bathwater is superstitious beliefs without observable evidence.
Atheopaganism, or Naturalistic Paganism, pairs spirituality with rational naturalism. It combines the energy of ritual, praxis, symbolism, values, etc. with a structure that values the truth. This is more specific than neopaganism in general; Atheopaganism believes that the truth matters--it opposes the weakness of believing things simply because "it would be really cool if it were true." The atheopagan does not avoid thoughtful and informed inquiry, or embrace conspiracy theories and the use of literal supernatural magic.
But hey--can a non-theistic worldview even count as a religion?
Well, the answer is that it depends on your working definition of "religion." If a cosmology (what is believed about the nature of the universe), ideology and practice are the key components of a religion, then the answer is yes. Atheopaganism adheres to the cosmology of the world as understood by generally accepted scientific discovery and analysis, and thus is always subject to change. The ideology and practice of nature-worship follows this seamlessly. Some might disagree with the idea that a religion can exclude the worship of one or more supernatural beings. For me, I'm not too hung up on whether I belong to a religion; it's enough for me to know that I simply belong.
If any of this interests you, read Mark Green's book or check out his website, and perhaps even John Halstead's website and book on Naturalistic Paganism as well.

You know how yanqui evangelicals complain about the "war on christmas" and such? like they get offended if people don't celebrate Christmas even though it makes no sense?
well my evangelical side of the family here in my part of Argentina at least, as you might know, adheres to the belief that everything that is fun is sinful and godless, and that includes christmas trees, decorations, gifts, and even worse, getting together to eat and drink because that's worldly and sinful you know.
I wonder how a yanqui evangelical would react when my aunt says "no we don't do Christmas trees, that's not Christian, that's pagan"
#cosas mias#of all the branches of Christianity my mom's family chose the most boring one#my dad might have lots of flaws but at least he let me enjoy stuff#(example: mom says science fiction is 'pointless fantasy' and fantasy talks too much about 'witchcraft')#(her entertaiment is watching pastors do stand-up jokes)

I was blown away by this post and need to talk about it, or I will never sleep lol. I wish I could show you our entire conversation but the OP deleted all my comments so I couldn't screenshot anything.
https://whereserpentswalk.tumblr.com/post/747399887511060481/the-nazis-that-you-see-in-movies-are-as-much-a
"Nazis weren’t atheists or pagans. They were deeply Christian and Christianity was part of their ideology just like it is for modern conservatives. They spoke at lengths about defending their Christian nation from godless leftism. The ones who hated the catholic church hated it for protestant reasons."
The nazis, including Hitler, were absolutely not supporters of Christianity, you don't even need to be a Christian to see why this is so problematic. The main idea of Christianity is that Jesus is the Messiah, the one and only Son who loved the world so much he sacrificed his life to pay the debt of our sins.
Jesus isn't just not Aryan, or not white. He is a Jew. Christians literally worship him, seeing him as both fully human and fully divine.
Hitler taught that Jews were inferior, the scum of the Earth, deserving of inhumane treatment and death. Why would he support a religion that worships a Jewish man as the Messiah?
Furthermore, the gospel teaches that ALL people, regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, etc. We're made equal in the eyes of God, and that we all came from the same two people.
Hitler taught that the Aryans were the superior race, and preached the inferiority of anyone else. Why would he support a religion that so blatantly contradicts his teachings?
But wait- if Hitler and the Nazis were against Christianity, why did they employ Christian rhetoric in speeches? Why did they negotiate a treaty with the Vatican?
If you are a psychopath vying for support and leadership in an overwhelmingly Christian nation, are you really going to talk about how useless you see Christianity, or how it is a threat to your rule? Of course not. Hitler was a demagogue. He wanted to appeal to the common 1930s German citizen, which meant he would need to appeal to Christians.
It wasn't until he had secured power that he could finally show his true colors, breaking his promise to the Vatican to not interfere with the rights of the church. Among the many groups persecuted in the holocaust were Christians, especially Roman Catholics. Clergy in Germany and other territories were closely supervised to make sure they didn't contradict the Nazi teachings, Catholic organizations were shut down, and many prominent Christians were sent to camps for forced labor and execution.
I pointed out some of these the the OP, to which they responded
How stating that the Nazis weren't supporters of Christians and that Christianity cannot coexist with Nazism makes me a holocaust denier, I don't know. I'm not the one denying that a certain group was persecuted by the Nazis (the OP stated in a comment of theirs that the Christians put into camps were only attacked for their ethnicity, not their religion) and trying to make it look like the Nazis actually loved and cared about that group.
I also don't understand how Christianity is inherently antisemitic. I asked the OP what about it was antisemitic, so after deleting all my comments, they blocked me. If you have the answer, let me know, I am genuinely curious.
It makes me sad to see that people actually believe this kind of propaganda. Also, if you're going to make a post about the evils of Nazism, you probably shouldn't use misinformation to villianize and scapegoat a group, or censor people who speak out against said misinformation. Just saying.

Hi! I haven't read the iwtv books so could you explain what you mean by Lestat keeping Louis and Claudia as mortal as possible? And it's something that Marius advised? I wouldn't mind any spoilers!
Have a nice day!
Hey!
So to expand on that a bit:
After Lestat was turned against his will and after he encountered the Children of Darkness and Armand he tries to find Marius, Armand's maker (and a true ancient, them calling Armand ancient is very funny to me tbh^^) to find some (more) answers.
Ultimately he does manage to rouse Marius' interest, and Marius raises him from a dirt nap and takes him to the island where he lives and cares for "Those Who Must Be Kept". (We know that also happened in the show in some kind of manner, because Lestat refers to TWMBK in ep7.)
Marius tells Lestat his life story, introduces him to Akasha and Enkil.
And he gives him advice (from "The Vampire Lestat"):
"If you mean to survive, you must live out one complete lifetime as soon as you can. To forestall it may be to lose everything, to despair and to go into the earth again, never to rise. Or worse. . . " [...] "Then do as I advise. And understand this also. In a real way, eternity is merely the living of one human lifetime after another. Of course, there may be long periods of retreat; times of slumber or of merely watching. But again and again we plunge into the stream, and we swim as long as we can, until time or tragedy brings us down as they will do mortals. " [...] "Exactly, make them in love. And make certain they have had some lifetime before you make them; and never never make one as young as Armand. That is the worst crime I have ever committed against my own kind, the taking of the young boy child Armand. "
But he also gives him a warning:
"You know why not. I can't have you or anyone else know the location of Those Who Must Be Kept. And that brings us now to something very important: the promises I must have from you. " "Anything, " I said. "But what could you possibly want that I could give? " "Simply this. You must never tell others the things that I have told you. Never tell of Those Who Must Be Kept. Never tell the legends of the old gods. Never tell others that you have seen me. " I nodded gravely. I had expected this, but I knew without even thinking that this might prove very hard indeed. "If you tell even one part, " he said, "another will follow, and with every telling of the secret of Those Who Must Be Kept you increase the danger of their discovery. " "Yes, " I said. "But the legends, our origins . . . What about those children that I make? Can't I tell them- " "No. As I told you, tell part and you will end up telling all. Besides, if these fledglings are children of the Christian god, if they are poisoned as Nicolas was with the Christian notion of Original Sin and guilt, they will only be maddened and disappointed by these old tales. It will all be a horror to them that they cannot accept. Accidents, pagan gods they don't believe in, customs they cannot understand. One has to be ready for this knowledge, meager as it may be. Rather listen hard to their questions and tell them what you must to make them contented. And if you find you cannot lie to them, don't tell them anything at all. Try to make them strong as godless men today are strong. But mark my words, the old legends never. Those are mine and mine alone to tell. " "What will you do to me if I tell them? " I asked. This startled him. He lost his composure for almost a full second, and then he laughed. "You are the damnedest creature, Lestat, " he murmured. "The point is I can do anything I like to you if you tell. Surely you know that. I could crush you underfoot the way Akasha crushed the Elder. I could set you ablaze with the power of my mind. But I don't want to utter such threats. I want you to come back to me. But I will not have these secrets known. I will not have a band of immortals descend upon me again as they did in Venice. I will not be known to our kind. You must never-deliberately or accidentally-send anyone searching for Those Who Must Be Kept or for Marius. You will never utter my name to others. " "I understand, " I said.
Lestat goes to NOLA after and tries to follow Marius' advice - and heed the warning.
That is the why.
The how...
Lestat never shows them the full extent of his powers. He lives with them in a house, as a family, not as a coven. He tries not to be the "coven master" for long stretches of time (going so far as to leave his home for example). He hides the more monstrous aspects of their existence, as well as the cruel implementations/rituals other covens have. Since Louis is very much also "poisoned by the notion of the Christian God" he does not tell them much either, probably half for fear of Marius and half for the gut feeling that the knowledge he has would actually not help much.
That is what I mean that he keeps them as mortal as possible.
They live with mortals, in their midst, masquerading as mortals, having hobbies, and interests, going to theaters, cinema etc. He makes his fledglings from and through love, and tries to live a "life" with them.
As good as he possibly can.
(The downside is, of course, that Louis and Claudia unfortunately have no concept of what awaits them with the other vampires. Which is exactly why Lestat did not want them to go to... Paris.)
