Inherit the Wind of Fanaticism

Just picture this: members of parliament truly believe environmental disasters, social upheavals and disruptive behavior are the result of a godless society who does not abide by the religious scriptures, a society whose moral fabrics are not cemented on these members' interpretation of God and Christian beliefs.

Therefore a vengeful, resentful and merciless Entity (but who also loves us) has punished mankind for worshipping pagan gods, dabbling in unholy ideas, embracing liberal ideals, endorsing human rights and teaching scientific concepts.

As a result, to placate His wrath, after the daily prayers, they enact bills to make religious dogmas become societal laws, eventually abolishing the idea of a secular society. After all, History has taught us how theocracy benefit societies by propelling human development and progress.

Bear in mind they only accept religious fundaments from the Books of the Old Testament. Any monotheistic philosophy from the Torah, Tanakh, Quran, Analects of Confucius and Rig Veda are considered as corrupt and harmful as multi-gods religions like Shintoism, African and Indigenous ones. The Roman and Greek mythologies would be forbidden to even be studied. In fact, anyone not embracing their own image of God will be labeled atheists, regardless they believe in other ideas of God, others gods or not at all.

No doubt they would commence their moral crusade by labeling as abominations homosexuality, divorce, feminism and prostitution and any other communist attitude (though Marxism is a an economic theory) they claim to not meet their medieval criteria of decency traditional family values.

Abortion would not be addressed under the scope of education, public health or social conditions, but a hideous crime committed by murderous women who became pregnant on their own. Certainly the fetus would be protected until birth like Rosemary's baby was, but differently from the spawn of the devil, the baby would not be adopted by any Christian family or be provided economical and social means to have a dignified life the children of churchgoers do.

Even if the pregnancy is the result of a rape, women must be criminalized. Either their amoral behavior and inappropriate clothes fleeced men to act as irrational animals or, under medieval beliefs, a conception can only occur if a woman has orgasm, proving the rape was pleasant for her. Because undeniably rape is about love, consent and pleasure, not about power, sense of inferiority, hate and control.

After the easy part of ridding of minorities, the parliamentary sect broadens the horizons by both outlawing tattooing (Leviticus 19:28), adultery (Exodus 20:14, Deuteronomy 22:20-21 and Leviticus 21:9), blasphemy (Leviticus 19:28 and Monty Python’s Life of Brian), use of garments made of different threads (Leviticus 19:22), cutting the hair or shaving (Leviticus 19:27), sowing the same soil with different crops or touching the skin of a dead animal (Leviticus 19:22), working on the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2), sexual intercourses with menstruated women (Leviticus 20:18) and enforcing others like compelling women to be subservient to their husbands, not speaking unless given permission from their husbands (Deuteronomy 22:5).

The enforcement of these laws would be severe and swift, since these Books also bless stoning, flaying, burning and beheading as acceptable means of capital punishment, something from which many influencers could monetize.

To not convey the wrong idea of a harsh sectarian agenda, parts of the scriptures would be legalized to foster free enterprise like selling of the youngest daughters into slavery (Exodus 21:7). In fact, to not sound feminist for favoring just the enslavement of women, why not reinstate slavery and racial segregation? Genesis 9 and 18-27 state that black individuals are cursed for being the descendants of Ham, Noah’s son who emasculated himself, so slavery is morally justified, and not enforcing it a sign of infidelity against God according to Genesis 11, Deuteronomy 32:8, Acts 1:8 and 17:26, 1 Corinthians 7:17-24, Romans 13 and Revelation 5:9 and 7:9.

To complete the path to a religious state, the abolishment of the Constitution, penal and civil codes, agreements the country is signatory, secular principles of separation of State and Church and independent forms of government would be enacted and substituted for clerical tribunals responsible to judge our moral conduct and enforce obedience to the Ten Commandments, elaborated sentences conceived by God while disguised as a flaming bush.

Perhaps He Himself could have announced the set of rules live to the tens of thousands of Jews at the bottom of Mount Sinai to prevent suspicion, but as He works in mysterious ways, it looked a better idea to ask an elderly man to do the job.

Nevertheless, as the Orwellian pigs did while running the Animal Farm, once a while the Commandments could be amended for all are equal servers of God, but some are more equal than the others.

Before the looming fundamentalist Twilight Zone episode becomes a reality, I will take the opportunity to say a few things:

1- Religion may be a source of soothing, love, tolerance, comfort and peace of mind, making one feel embraced, helping refuel hope and deal with losses. The problem starts when its fanatical fans and followers make it an obsession, use the belief in a God as the unique source to explain all phenomena, natural or not, relinquish all other forms of human knowledge and finally impose onto others this mindset as the absolute and only truth. After all, if God is responsible for all beautiful stuff like sunsets and cherry blossoms, he may be a bit culpable for bone marrow cancer in children too. In addition, why did He get so upset to the point of drowning everyone for bad behavior, including children and unborn babies, during the Flood but allowed the Nazis to closely annihilate His people in Europe? Why not obliterate Berlin or even Nuremberg during the Hitler's Youth rallies as he did in Sodom and Gomorra?

2- If one has a faith, why does it need constant validation or confirmation from others? Why do believers find it so hard to accept skepticism or questioning? It is how the human brain functions, how we manage to stop living in caves when we started to reason, challenge dogmas and develop scientific curiosity as many religious people like Kepler, Newton, Darwin, Da Vinci and Galileo did. Really, if it is your faith, just believe it, why bother and see a different opinion as a threat to your faith? Maybe you yourself have doubts about it.

3- Faith is not a scientific hypothesis that requires empirical evidence and peer review to validate it. Both traditional religious beliefs and unorthodox ones like crystals, ghosts, elves and astrology do not require proof. If someone tells me the Theory of Evolution is only a theory (which under scientific perspective means it is a validated fact, just not demonstrated through equations as a scientific law), the Earth is flat, vaccines cause autism, climate change is not caused by deforestation and carbon emissions, the moon landing was a hoax, I just ignore it. One piece of advice then: If one finds it a bit strange an 800-year old man managed to house millions of different species in perfect harmony in an ark for forty days and eventually his family managed to re-populate the world with all different ethnicities, just ignore it. It is easier and simpler, since it requires no evidence, just your faith.

4- Finally, try to imagine a reverse reality. Instead of religious groups imposing dogmas and creating a theocratic state, a Government that cancels police and firefighter support since churches and temples are granted tax exemption , allows Catholic priests to marry and nuns to celebrate masses, institutes the singing of the national anthem in seminaries and convents, forbids money transactions during religious ceremonies, prohibits the Bible and other religious books in libraries and public schools. Would you feel your so-called freedom of religion is menaced?

Well, think about it. All you have to do is think by yourself.

God has a purpose for all He had made.

God ordained a man and a woman to live together As husband and wife in a marriage union (Genesis 2:18,24,25; Matthew 19:6).

You are to be satisfied with your spouse. God ordained sex to be within the context of marriage union, between a husband and the wife (Proverbs 5:15-20).

Sex has been made cheap and crude, people get involved in it, like that of animals (Ezekiel 16:29; 1 Corinthians 6:13,18).

Do not trade your birthright because of the mundane—the material things: "LEST THERE BE ANY FORNICATOR OR PROFANE [godless] PERSON LIKE ESAU, WHO for one MORSEL of FOOD SOLD HIS BIRTHRIGHT" (Hebrews 12:16 NKJV).

Some bachelorette go about trading their bodies because of money. They adorned themselves to be attracted to men.

Your body is God's temple that should not be defiled. If you did, you had defiled the temple of the living God, and there are serious consequences for that (1 Corinthians 3:16,17; 6:18-20).

A Curse is on those who adorned themselves for the purpose of trading their bodies, prostitution; because they are defiling the body that should be God's abode (1 Corinthians 3:16,17; 6:29,20).

In the book of Isaiah, God pronounced Judgement on the daughters of Zion, because of pride, outward adornments of their bodies, and prostitution (Isaiah 3:16-24).

Adornment might not be bad outrightly, If it was moderately done and with good intentions or motives: "AND I WANT WOMEN TO BE MODEST IN THEIR APPEARANCE. THEY SHOULD WEAR DECENT and APPROPRIATE CLOTHING and NOT DRAW ATTENTION TO THEMSELVES BY THE WAY THEY FIX THEIR HAIR or BY WEARING GOLD or PEARLS or EXPENSIVE CLOTHES" (1 Timothy 2:9 NLT).

3 DON'T BE CONCERNED about the OUTWARD BEAUTY OF FANCY HAIRSTYLES, EXPENSIVE JEWELRY, or BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES. 4 YOU SHOULD CLOTHES YOURSELVES INSTEAD with the BEAUTY that COMES FROM WITHIN, the UNFADING BEAUTY of a GENTLE and QUIET SPIRIT, WHICH IS SO PRECIOUS TO GOD." 1 Peter 3:3,4 (NLT)

The salvation of your soul is important than whatever, money or the ephemeral, would be gotten through the Acts of prostitution (Mark 8:36).

If you claimed to be born-again, and you engaged in the illicit affairs, casual sex, you are trading your salvation which cost Jesus Christ His life (1 Peter 1:17-19).

It means you are rubbishing what He, Jesus Christ, did for you (Hebrews 10:26,27,29). Remember, you are bought with a price, and redeemed not with corruptible or perishable things, but the precious blood of Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 6:20; 1 Peter 1:18,19).

If you considered yourself beautiful, shapely figured, and you are being thronged by Men, Does that mean you should be fooling around with Men? And not when you even claimed to be a Believer in Christ Jesus. Should a believer in Christ do what you are doing?

The Book of Song of Songs, or Solomon, describes the love that ought to exist between a husband and the wife.

Sex before a marriage union, or outside a marriage union, is wrong; And it is contrary to God's purpose of establishing the institution of Marriage: "MARRIAGE IS HONOURABLE AMONG ALL, AND THE BED UNDEFILED; BUT FORNICATORS and ADULTERERS GOD WILL JUDGE (Hebrews 13:4 NKJV).

When God's principles are violated, or lived against, by a Believer who is expected to know better; It brings a Curse on the person.

And in a marriage union, If God's order is changed, how He specified things to be done, then problems set in.

God is a match Maker. He is the only one who can bring you in contact with the right person whom you are to settle down with in a marriage union.

Some bachelorettes are just giving their bodies to Men because they are desperate in having a marriage partner. - Some Men, who are not godly, or those who have the form of godliness but denied its power, take an advantage of such ladies, that should be called Christian sisters, because of their desperation and gullibility.

These men use such ladies, who professed to be sisters in Christ, and sleep with them to gratify and satisfy their lusts, and dump them: 5 HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENYING ITS POWER. AND FROM SUCH PEOPLE TURN AWAY! 6 FOR OF THIS SORT ARE THOSE WHO CREEP INTO HOUSEHOLDS and MAKE CAPTIVES OF GULLIBLE WOMEN LOADED DOWN WITH SINS, LED AWAY BY VARIOUS LUSTS" (2 Timothy 3:5,6 NKJV).

Marriage is ordained by God, and He is the only One Who can help you in locating the right person to settle down with, who will stand with you in fulfilling His purpose and plan for your life.

Desperation and anxiety are products of Unbelief or faithlessness. And Unbelief or faithlessness displeases God, only faith and trust in His Word please Him (Hebrews 11:6).

The beauty which God gave to you, which men commended, and attracted them to you; is for the glorification of His name, and not for prostitution.

Thus, let the name of God be glorified through the way you live your life. Let Him not regret or sorry over your life (Genesis 6:5,6).

In some cases, It is almost sisters proposing brothers, even in the church, today; all because of desperation. They use all manner of gimmicks to woo brothers.

Note: God is Great and Greater than the greatest. No one can be compared with Him. He knows who would be the best person, partner, for your life, in your journey on earth, and as par the assignment He has for you.

As a Believer, sisters in particular; Wait on God to lead you, and do not through a gimmick corner a man with your own sensual wisdom: your crafty heart and enticing speeches (Proverbs 7:10,21).

Know that a way that seems right might be a way of death or destruction: "THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO A MAN, BUT ITS END IS THE WAY OF DEATH" (Proverbs 14:12 NKJV) READ: Proverbs 16:25

Tithing

The modern "church" preaches that you are free from ALL God's other commands, BUT the one they twist to give THEM your money!!!

The Tithe was to the Levies, not to pastors or churches. Churches since the earliest days DID RAISE MONEY, but it was never for the church itself or the staff or pastor; it was to help other Christians in OTHER churches. There are no more professional spiritual class to handle the work of sacrifice. No, today's pastors are NOT modern Levites! How evil and greedy of them to try to spin it that way. The Bible calls this spin, "Deception", "Bondage", and "Selfish Ambition."

Once you pervert the church into a RELIGION, into and INSTITUTION with staff and pastors as a PROFESSION, you've got the same old paganism the church is supposed to COME OUT OF and BE SEPARATE FROM. The so-called chruch is an INVERSION of the freedom, life, abundance, and blessing that God called us into, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

And once you go to full 501c3 (let the godless state tell me what I can do and say, again because of MONEY reasons) you are a full on PROSTITUTE to the Beast System.

In total contrast: the Kingdom of God is about blessing, about abundance, about overflow. But it is never about money. Yes there are expenses, but we seek to fulfill ALL God's commands (knowing the saccrifical commands of animals were fulfilled and completed with Jesus Himself as the for all time Lamb of God.)

We DO CONTINUE TO SACRIFICE, but it is a sacrifice of PRAISE. (Hebrews 13:15 and Psalm 116:17) We DO CONTINUE TO PAY OUR DEBTS, but is is a debt of love. (Romans 13:8) We can never love God too much or love our neighbor WITH GOD'S LOVE too much. WE ARE FREE FROM THE MANIPULATION OF MONEY. “Pay all your debts except the debt of love for others — never finish paying that”.  -Romans 13:8

In Babylon, money is key, it ia a central way to CONTROL others, to extend GUILT and PRESSURE and BURDENS and BONDAGE. To LUST after and to pursue with extreme selfish ambition.

In the Kingdom of God, they found that gold makes for great road pavement, it is so abundant, all this gold has to be put SOMEWHERE after all. Yes, in the Kingdom of God, you USE GOLD to get to other people. In the dark Kingdom, you used people to get gold.

Living in the close proximity to Babylon, money in all forms is central to life. But really the natural Earth provides all our real needs - air, water, food, and LOVE. The rest is a CONSTRUCT OF SOCIETY and civilization is something the fallen angels have CONTROLLED for humans since their beginning. (since about 1000 years after God made them, still be beginning as far as humanity is concerned on the whole).

Jesus talked a LOT about money, even more than He talked about hell as recorded in the 4 Gospel letters. He emphasized FAITH in the character and nature of Father God. He emphasized that money is a TOOL to love and bless others with. He HIMSELF is the life-devt that He Himself FULLY paid. You are free from all debts. And yet you are SILL COMPELLED. But now, in Christ, you are compelled by love, service and gratitude.

Seek God for what all this truth means as it manifests in your specific life in practical ways. God has all the real wealth. You have a good and loving Father who WANTS to bless you. Blessing in the purest form is INCREASED INTIMACY with Himself - the source of all goodness.

The Gospel is SO SIMPLE and totally without the eeed for institutions and hoops of control / pressure / manipulation to jump through. God LOVED you. God loved you so totally that He was moved to meet you at the point of your deepest need! You needed live and connection to Himself. You needed your sins forgiveness so that a relationship of harmonious and conversational INTIMACY with Himself could flow freely! In this way you are healed and made whole from the inside out at every level. And FROM THIS restored intimacy with Himself, the overflow is acts of love to the world that also show OTHERS who God is, and cause them to also be reunited to Father God, by grace through faith, in the Person of God's Son, Jesus of Nazareth. The Son of God is authorized to invited you into the FAMILY of God. There's no selfishness, just the opposite. The Son of God is inviting to unite with you, His life, His righteousness, and also his unlimited riches and blessings, as a FELLOW HEIR with Himself as the beloved son of Father God.

John 3:16. God loved. God gave. Love gives of itself to meet the deepest needs of the beloved.

God faced the diabolical evil that was separating you from this relationship of harmonious love as an intimate ally, ambassador and extension of God's family/kingdom. THUS... when you see someone in need, you likewise love, and you likewise GIVE. Too simple for the religious entangled mind that lives in guilt, in pressure, in performace - rather than in faith and grace.

Jesus taught us to pray for our "daily bread" (Matthew 6) - our tangible needs, our survival needs. And this was in the CONTEXT of a prayer about manifesting the HOLINESS of God on this Earth in tangible ways. It was in the context of shunning evil, living in forgiveness, and worshiping God as Holy and Worthy. It was in the context of a KINGDOM mindset. In that very same chapter, does not God Himself say:

"You are to seek God's kingdom foremost - to live out the righteousness of God Himself, and all these things (tangible needs) shall be supplied by God as a by product" - Matthew 6:33

John 3:16-21 "For God so LOVED the world that he GAVE his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

God's Tools for Judgment May Shock You

It's one thing to talk about the judgment of God coming upon His people. Its an entirely different manner when that judgment comes in the form of the worst kingdom imaginable. 

Isaiah 13 opens with shocking language from God concerning the tool in His hand of judgment against Israel, the pagan idolatrous nation of Babylon.

Isaiah 13:1–3 (ESV) The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw. 2 On a bare hill raise a signal; cry aloud to them; wave the hand for them to enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I myself have commanded my consecrated ones, and have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger, my proudly exulting ones.

Notice the word, "consecrated". The word is "qadash" in Hebrew which refers to set apart or "holy." It's used in Genesis 2:3 to refer to the Sabbath day as "holy." It refers to the firstborn of Israel in Exodus 13:2. All throughout the Law it refers to objects and people set apart for God's purposes. And here Isaiah uses that term to illustrate Babylon!

Wow. 

This kind of shatters what you imagine when you think of holiness, doesn't it? Holiness is a designation, not a moral improvement. Yes, moral improvement may result, but it is not the definition of holiness. Holiness happens when we are used by God. And sometimes to be used for God, He has to use other things to chisel away the things that do not glorify Him in us.

Isaiah 13:5 (ESV) They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the LORD and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

Isaiah wants to be clear. God is doing this. He will use one nation to punish His own people. Later in the chapter, Isaiah tells what sin the Lord is dealing with specifically. As usual, downfalls begin with pride.

Isaiah 13:11 (ESV) I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.

Then, suddenly in verse 17, the chapter lists another tool in God's arsenal. One that can barely be considered a relevant threat at this time. 

Isaiah 13:17 (ESV) Behold, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who have no regard for silver and do not delight in gold.

Isaiah 13:19 (ESV) And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the splendor and pomp of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God overthrew them.

It would take a few decades, but the Medes would bring destruction on Babylon. Just as Babylon was His holy tool to judge Judah, the Medes will be His tool to judge Babylon. Even more, the destruction of Babylon will be complete and forever. 

Isaiah 13:20–21 (ESV) It will never be inhabited or lived in for all generations; no Arab will pitch his tent there; no shepherds will make their flocks lie down there. 21 But wild animals will lie down there, and their houses will be full of howling creatures; there ostriches will dwell, and there wild goats will dance.

For sure, the spirit of Babylon is alive and well and often described toward the end of the New Testament. But the nation is long gone and the area is indeed an uninhabited wasteland today. 

Here's the key difference between God's judgment of His own people and His judgment of outsiders. When God judges His people it is to purify and restore them to righteous living. When God judges outsiders it is to wipe them out. 

Isaiah 13 makes one thing clear. God is in total control of the nations. He rules even those foreign and godless leaders and nations that we think are "getting away" with sin and wickedness. He will, in concern for the character of those who bear His name, use the pagans to make His children pure. He will do this because we are made to reflect Him.

He goes North for Cumbrian lakes and West for Somerset wassailing and even more West to sit at the bottom of a Cornish tin mine when those moods take him.

Glastonbury is weird and old and filled with things that just don't make sense at first glance, never mind the music festival next door (which I am sure Arthur attends off his face for the entire time). Half of it is a manufactured neo paganism of course but it only springs up here because of these old stories. And I think it makes Arthur all the stronger for it.

And it's Celtic, not Norman, not German, not even Roman... it's like the core part of Arthur from when he was a baby. It's his connection to his mother and his siblings. If he ever feels truly like a black sheep, all he needs do is return here and remember. Like even Bath, as wonderful and beautiful and important as it is - is still Roman.

Okay, just to rattle of odd things about the town and why I think it's kind of important when thinking and conceiving of Arthur as a character. It's a microcosm of his history and culture and what's been done to him.

So.

Glastonbury is built at the foot of a hill. The hill stands out like a sore thumb from the surrounding area as everything else is flat. The church fell during an earthquake in the 1200s (we just... don't have earthquakes strong enough to do that) but we kept the tower. A hollow beacon.

Glastonbury has several iron age lake villages nearby and the Somerset Levels were once upon a time underwater and so all you had was the Tor, poking out as an island amongst the fens, something it does even now in the fog:

And it was the Normans who drained it and made the island join the mainland but that island is probably possibly potentially where King Arthur is buried. We think. Obviously this is contentious.🤭

So it's maybe. Probably. Most likely. Avalon itself. Isle of Apples. England's national fruit. Glastonbury has the apple festival plus the orchards in the parish and considering it was after all an island once...

Glastonbury Abbey, long before it was a ruin, argued they had his bones. Arthur's. The reformation lost them and the abbot was hung drawn and quartered by Henry VIII. How convenient. Glastonbury Abbey by some counts pre-dates the Roman attempts to enforce Christianity. So it's old as heck. Older than any Anglo-Saxon invader.

It had an English Hawthorn (aka - I shit you not - a Mayflower [cough cough Alfred cough]) tree that bloomed twice a year in the dead of winter and no-one could understand why (stories about the holy grail feature and pop up in other places in Glastonbury). Parliamentarians burned it during the Civil War (Godless and pagan as it was and as spiteful and superstitious as they were) but they used to take cuttings from the tree to send to the Royal Family each Christmas because of its winter flowers. Other cuttings were made and descendants of the tree survive in other places. There's a butt ton of folklore for Hawthorns which I don't have time for but essentially they're fairy houses and borders and don't bring the flowers into your house or you will die. It smells of rotting animals but tastes of bread and cheese. It's a fucked up plant essentially. And it had pretty flowers that we wear on May Day celebrations. Dichotomy. That's... that's Arthur.

And then there's the springs. The Chalice Well and the White Spring. One runs red. One runs white (no it runs clear but it does have chalk in it). They pop out literally across the road from each other despite having completely different sources. They've never dried up in 2,000 years.

One is blood (the Holy Grail returns) and one is milk (I think it's supposed to be the goddess Brighid's milk but I may be misremembering - it's someone's breast milk) so the spring's path and pools runs the most fantastic iron red and clear...

So. Not to be like... insane. But Arthur needs to have a home here. He needs to be able to come back to a place which is his connection with his mother that isn't just the standing stones and tombs of Avebury and Stonehenge and West Kennet. A place which is alive and lived in and used.

A place where the Romans couldn't touch it where the Saxons fought battles to get it where the Normans changed the landscape beyond recognition where Henry VIII sold it and hung drawn and quartered it where the Parliamentarians purged it where his namesake rests. A place where he can drink milk and blood (ooft that's a bit metal eh) and remember. It's a big bundle of changes and trauma and yet it remains all his.

And then he takes too much acid and kind of looses it during the music festival and comes back to five days later with two STIs and desperately needing a bath. #WorthIt

Look at this nonsense. You just know Arthur is passed out in a hedge after listening to something like Marina Diamandis' Savages on stage and having an panic attack of how close it hits home.

ok so like, jews generally follow god's rules, muslims follow allah's rules, hindus probably follow their gods rules, so on and so forth. and overall they do it out of faith; they do it because they want to honor the deity who loves them rather than because society forces them to.

"if you aren't x branch and dont obey y rules you'll go to hell so we'll fucking murder you" is pretty much the main driving force behind a significant portion of christianity in history. the catholics, the protestants, the orthodoxy, all are built on a foundation of fear, anger, and hatred. it's shaped the way society developed; in the 4 nations that did the most genocidal imperialist colonialism- England, France, Spain, and Italy- a combination of convenient coastal locations, naval prowess, military tendency, christianity, and ultranationalism lead them down a path of missionaries, holding bibles in one hand and bloodstained knives in the other. the religion is inseparable from the culture and inseparable from the horrible things done in the name of their god, and the resulting cancers of society we feel today from the campaigns of slaughter. xenophobia. capitalism. savage barbarism via sensationalized capitol punishment. misogyny. queerphobia. gender fascism. classism. racism. all of these issues in the "civilized world" stem predominantly from those four nations and the disease ridden pestilent filth some call pilgrims.

there are less than 5 million shinto in the world.

there are less than 25 million jews in the world.

there are less than 30 million sikhs in the world.

there are roughly 100 million african cultural religious adherents in the world.

there are less than 400 million chinese cultural religious adherents in the world.

there are about 500 million buddhists in the world.

there are about 1.1 billion hindus in the world.

there are about 1.2 billion nonreligious people in the world.

there are 1.6 billion muslims in the world.

and one final statistic

there are over 2.1 billion christians in the world.

the jewish count is a highball, rounded up, and includes several different definitions of jewish including people who are only one quarter. so for every single person who is even remotely jewish, there are more than 8 christians. for every hindu, there are 4 christians. for every atheist, agnostic, or "other", 2 christians. this frightening statistic should set off warning bells for everyone who is involved in a discussion about religion. and anyone who knows BASIC world history and can correlate data at all can probably piece together what I'm putting down.

now, I may be slightly biased here considering my eclectic religious beliefs. now, I personally believe that there is some primary force of energy that may or may not manifest itself as a humanoid being, that engineered the most basic laws of physics in the universe: atomic magnetism. as can be inferred by planck's constant and its implications, our universe is digital, written in binary. an electron either moves or doesn't move. there are no other options. so I genuinely believe in some form of intelligent design; whether it's a bearded guy on a cloud, some dude with six arms and an elephant for a face, just a big swirling pool of ectoplasm, or a big ol' plate of spaghetti and meatballs, something is out there that we are physically incapable of contacting from our plane of existence, just as a drawing on a piece of paper cannot reach out to interact with the world: a gif will move on its own but it will never acknowledge our existence, even if it could think by itself. and all the different mythologies of the world- egyptian, greek, norse, shinto, whatever- very well could be the agents of that unknown "god". perhaps anubis, ra, and bastet are just angels with animal heads that all of the peoples of ancient egypt saw and were like oh I guess this must be a god. maybe zeus and loki were the same person with a magic dick who fucked a bunch of animals in both greece and the scandinavian countries and spawned all of the horrible half-animal monstrosities that, idk, made vishnu think "well I have to kill that" and caused the biblical flood or something. maybe the jewish god gifted wisdom to siddhartha for sitting under a fig tree for 6 years through the angel pomona [roman goddess of fruit, had to google that one], so buddha gets his wisdom from demeter and is in nirvana right now right a step up from hades on yggdrasil the world tree keeping an eye on his charge persephone. any theory could theoretically be true but we ants of humans will never fucking know because we can't just point a telescope at the magellanic clouds and say "look, there's amaterasu with russell's teapot, and she's having tea with... *rubs eyes* lemmy kilmister??? wow I guess gods are real after all!" it's impossible to know the secrets of our universe because of the very restrictive nature of the universe itself. is it a circle? is it a donut? WE DONT FUCKIN KNOW.

we cannot know what religion is truthful.

Britain, France, Spain, and Italy, by extension Protestantism and Catholicism, are the shared factor between the long and bloody history fraught with massacring indigenous populations who wouldn't convert religions. native americans, indigenous canadians, latin americans but predominantly mexicans, the eastern chinese, coastal africans, aborigine aussies, indians- coastal coastal coastal. true the western chinese and the mongols/hunnu and xinjiang muslims haven't exactly been on civil terms and the silk road has always been a battleground and the middle east was already tenuous before murrica bombed them for oil but those happened in such a spread out area among asia which is FUCKING HUGE, MIND YOU! but also that's three high traffic places with massive diversity, it's human nature to have conflict, but not nearly to the same level as all of the shit christianity has done to the world. it's impossible to separate the religion from the cultures; victorian england without protestantism is just dirty people who die at 15 from having their 3rd child. italy without the catholicism is just grass and cheese. france and spain without religion are just kingdoms that fought wars with england for forever and now just make food that's one part delicious and three parts horrifying. religion is directly responsible for a significant portion of the evils those countries committed. one religion in particular.

they don't practice religion the same way as the rest do. they aren't faithful to their god. they don't follow his rules out of love but out of fear. they execute dissenters without a second thought, heresy they cry. they execute women and little girls for being free thinking or having sickness associated with mercury poisoning in the water, witch they cry. they slaughter men women and kids alike in the name of cramming their beliefs down the natives throats, we're chasing out the snakes they cry, we're bringing god to your godless people they cry, we're just civilizing you they cry. they shit in the streets and proudly display rotting corpses and leave the impoverished disabled and starving to die alone and whip their slaves and rape teenage girls and scrap in the streets while sopping wet with spilled ale over insignificant insults and stab people to death in the night and never even fucking BATHE, and they have the nerve to say the natives were uncivilized. the nerve. because hey. they read a magic book they stole from a culture who stole from another culture who stole from another culture, mistranslating each time from hebrew to greek to italian to english, and they think they're better because their skin is white.

 Do we know the signs of our times? They point to two inescapable truths, the first of which is that we have come to the end of the post – Renaissance Chapter of history which made man the measure of all things.

The three basic dogmas of the modern world are dissolving before our very eyes.

 First, we are witnessing the liquidation of the economic man, or the assumption that man who is a highly developed animal has no other function in life than to produce and acquire wealth, and then like the cattle in the pastures, be filled with years and die.

 Secondly, we are witnessing the liquidation of the idea of the natural goodness of man who has no need of a God to give Him rights, or a Redeemer to salvage him from guilt, because progress is automatic thanks science, education, and evolution, which will one day make man a kind of a god. We are witnessing also the liquidation of rationalism, or the idea that the purpose of human reason is not to discover the meaning and goal of life, namely the salvation of a soul, but to devise new technical advances to make on this earth a city of man to displace the city of God.

It may very well be that Historical Liberalism of our modern generation is only a transitional era in history between a civilization which once was Christian and one which will be definitely anti-Christian.

 The second great truth to which the signs of the times portend is that we are definitely at the end of a nonreligious era of civilization, by that I mean one which regarded religion as an addendum to life, a pious extra, a morale-builder for the individual but of no social relevance, and God is a silent partner whose name was used by the firm to give respectability but who had nothing to say about how the business should be run.

 In the new era into which we are entering is what might be called the religious phase of human history. Do not misunderstand me; by religious we do not mean that men will turn to God, but rather that the indifference to the absolute which characterized the liberal phase of civilization will be succeeded by a passion for an absolute.

 From now on the struggle will be not for the colonies and national rights, but for the souls of men. The battle lines are being clearly drawn and the basic issues are no longer in doubt. From now on men will divide themselves into two religions understood again as surrender to an absolute. The conflict of the future is between an absolute who is the God-Man and an absolute which is the man-god; between the God Who became man and the man who makes himself god; between brothers in Christ and comrades in anti-Christ.

 But, the anti-Christ will not be so called, otherwise he would have no followers. He will wear no red tights, nor vomit sulphur, nor carry a spear nor wave an arrowed tail as the Mephistopheles in Faust. Nowhere in Sacred Scripture do we find warrant for the popular myth of the devil as a buffoon who is dressed like the first “red.” Rather, is he described as a fallen angel, as “the Prince of this world” whose business it is to tell us that there is no other world. His logic is simple: if there is no heaven there is no hell; if there is no hell, there is no sin; if there is no sin, there is no judge, and if there is no judgement then evil is good and good is evil.

 But above all these descriptions, Our Lord tells us that he will be so much like Himself, that he would deceive even the elect – and certainly no devil we have ever seen in picture books could deceive the elect.

 How will he come in this new age to win followers to his religion?

— He will come disguised as the Great Humanitarian;

— He will talk peace, prosperity and plenty not as means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves.

— He will write books on the new idea of God to suit the way people live; induce faith in astrology so as to make not the will but the stars responsible for our sins;

— He will explain guilt away psychologically as repressed sex, make men shrink in shame if their fellowmen say they are not broadminded and liberal;

— He will identify tolerance with indifference to right and wrong;

— He will foster more divorces under the disguise that another partner is “vital”;

— He will increase love for love and decrease love for person;

— He will invoke religion to destroy religion;

— He will even speak of Christ and say that he was the greatest man who ever lived; his mission he will say will be to liberate men from the servitude of superstition and Fascism: which he will never define.

 But, in the midst of all his seeming love for humanity and his glib talk of freedom and equality, he will have one great secret which he will tell to no one; He will not believe in God. Because his religion will be brotherhood without the fatherhood of God, he will deceive even the elect.

 He will set up a counter Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will be the mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the church as the mystical body of Christ.

 In desperate need for God, he will induce modern man in his loneliness and frustration to hunger more and more for membership in his community that will give man enlargement of purpose without any need of personal amendment and without the admission of personal guilt.

 These are days in which the devil has been given a particularly long rope. For we must never forget that Our Lord said to Judas and his band: “This is your hour.” God has His day, but evil has its hour when the shepherd shall be struck and the sheep dispersed.

 Has the Church made the preparations for just such a dark night in the decree of the Holy Father outlining the conditions on which a Papal Election may now be held outside of the city of Rome? Men who know history have seen these dark days coming. As far back as 1842, 105 years ago, Heine the German poet wrote: “Communism, though little discussed now and loitering in hidden garrets on miserable straw pallets, is the dark hero destined for a great, if temporary, role in the modern tragedy…Wild, gloomy times are roaring toward us, and the prophet wishing to write a new apocalypse would have to invent entirely new beasts – beasts so terrible that St. John’s older animals would be like gentle doves and cupids in comparison. The gods are veiling their faces in pity on the children of men, their long-time charges. The future smells of Russian leather, blood, godlessness, and many whippings.

 And, I should advise our grandchildren to be born with very thick skins on their backs. That in 1842.

 Well indeed may we be warned. For the first time in history our age has witnessed the persecution of the Old Testament by the Nazis and the persecution of the New Testament by the Communists.

 Anyone who has anything to do with God is hated today, whether his vocation was to announce His Divine Son, Jesus Christ, as did the Jew, or to follow Him as the Christian. Because the signs of our times point to a struggle between absolutes we may expect the future to be a time of trial for two reasons: Firstly, to stop disintegration. Godlessness would go on, and on, and on if there were no catastrophes.

 What death is to an individual, that catastrophe is to an evil civilization: the interruption life and for the civilization the interruption of its Godlessness. Why did God station an angel with a flaming sword at the Garden of Paradise after the Fall, if it was not to prevent our first parents from entering again and eating of the Tree of Life, which, if they ate they would have immortalized their guilt.

 And, God will not allow unrighteousness to become eternal. He permits revolution disintegration, chaos, to come as reminders that our thinking has been wrong, our dreams have been unholy. Moral truth is vindicated by the ruin that follows when it has been repudiated. The chaos of our times is the strongest negative argument that could ever be advanced for Christianity. Catastrophe reveals the evil is self-defeating and that we cannot turn from God as we have without hurting ourselves.

 The second reason why a crisis must come is in order to prevent a false identification of the Church and the world. Our Lord intended that those who were His followers should be dierent in spirit from those who were not. But, this line of demarcation has been blotted out. Instead of black and white, there is only a blur.

 Mediocrity and compromise characterize the lives of many Christians. They read the same novels as modern pagans, educate their children in the same godless way, listen to the same commentators who have no other standard than judging today by yesterday, and tomorrow by today, allow pagan practices to creep into family life, such as divorce and remarriage; there are not wanting, so-called Catholic labor leaders recommending Communists for Congress, or Catholic writers who accept presidencies in Communist front organizations to instill totalitarian ideas into movies.

 There’s no longer the conflict and opposition which ought to characterize us. We are influencing the world less than the world influences us. There is no apartness. We who were sent out to establish a center of health have caught the disease, and therefore have lost the power to heal. And, since the gold is mixed with an alloy, the entirety must be thrust into the furnace that the dross may be burned away.

 The value of the trial will be to set us apart. Evil catastrophe must come to reject us, to despise us, to hate us, to persecute us, and then, then we shall we define our loyalties, aim our fidelity and state on whose side we stand. Our quantity indeed will decrease, but our quality will increase. It is not for the Church that we fear, but for the world. We tremble not that God may be dethroned but that barbarism may reign.

 And three practical suggestions then for the times as Christians realize that a moment of crisis is not a time of despair, but of opportunity. We were born in crisis, in defeat – the Crucifixion. And, once we recognize that we are under Divine Wrath, we become eligible for Divine Mercy. The very disciplines of God create hope. The thief on the right came to God by a crucifixion.

 And secondly Catholics ought to stir up their Faith, hang a crucifix in their home, remind them that they have a cross to carry; gather your family together every night to recite the rosary; go to daily Mass; make the Holy Hour daily in the Presence of our Eucharistic Lord and particularly in parishes where pastors are conscious of the world’s need and therefore conduct services of reparation.

 And, finally, Jews, Protestants, Catholics, Americans, all of us, must realize that the world is summoning us to heroic efforts at spiritualization. It is not a unity of religion we plead for that is impossible when purchased at the cost of the unity of truth, but a unity of religious people, wherein each marches separately according to the light of his conscience, but strikes together for the moral betterment of the world.

 The forces of evil are united; the forces of good are divided. We may not be able to meet in the same pew – would to God we did – but we can meet on our knees. You may be sure that no sordid compromises nor carrying of waters on both shoulders will see you through. Those who have the faith had better keep in the state of grace and those who have neither had better find out what they mean, for in the coming age there will be only one way to stop your trembling knees, and that will be to get down on them and pray.

Pray to Michael, Michael the Prince of the morning, who conquered Lucifer who would make himself a god. When the world once cracked because of a sneer in heaven, he rose up and dragged down from the seven heavens the pride that would look down on the Most High.

 And, pray too, pray to Our Lady, and say to her “It was to thee who was given the power to crush the head of the serpent who lied to men that they would be like unto gods. And mayest thou who didst find Christ when He was lost for three days, find Him again for our world who has lost Him. Give to the senile incontinence of our verbiage the Word. And as thou didst form the Word in thy womb, form Him in our own hearts. Lady of the Blue of Heaven, in these dark days light our lamps. Give back to us the Light of the World that a Light may Shine even in these days of darkness.

Jewels of Truth Statements and Favorite Quotes of the Month of November

Hello All,

I hope those of you in the States had a safe and pleasant Thanksgiving Holiday. I haven't posted so much due to some holiday blues. This is the 1st holiday season I'm spending alone. Otherwise, my mother which I'm a caregiver from a distance for the past 9 months. She will be shortly transferred to a long-term skilled nursing facility (SNF) versus her current memory care assisted living facility. (ALF). Due to her deteriorating health conditions overall, thus the holiday blues in part.

Aside from this human drama, I'm still channeling the angels just not as frequently as before. It's always been in cycles of periods of heavy-duty inspirational automatic writing and then periods I enter the doldrums over these 25+ years. Perhaps it's their way to keep me frosty without burning me out throughout the year.

Today's trio of angelic channeled "Jewels of Truth" statements are on the topics of Worship, Humanity Creates God Fulfills, and Divination & Magicks. I've always have channeled as a universal all-inclusive compassionate faith perspective. As if God has no favorite form of spiritual tradition or religion since it is all him in various flavors. Thus I can easily touch briefly on a statement that has Christianity, Hinduism, and Paganism all in one like a melting pot of the glorified heavens eternal.

May you find today's statements intriguing even though they may challenge you spiritually. Which is a good thing for it expands your inventory of possibilities of the Great Mystery of God in earnest. Amen.

The Divine spiritual and religious traditions globally has been an attempt by humanity to transcend its mundane limitations. Now the Science experiment has replaced the ideations of the gods as angels and/or a Creator spiritually as God in part. It is merely one philosophical doctrine replacing another by evolutionary tendencies that are wholly natural by the arc of the eons of mortal existence.

The Universe is both seeped in the Divine regardless of Xyz of a particular faith tradition. It is also godless without spirituality as each entity as a childlike creation of a cryptic Maker has the liberty to choose within this Great Mystery. To this effect, the point of origin of existence is a paradox of godly/angelic design. It is subjective and objective simultaneously of your very mundane human finite lifetimes.

Each of you are vehicles as projections of the Infinite nature of the Universe extraordinarily so. This Universe is God-centric and it is not. The Universe of immense populated souls times infinite comprehension is just another stratum of higher echelon interpretation of the one Supreme Soul of God(dess). This Universe physical or otherwise metaphysical is just another incarnation of a spirit entity as a child of God. Much like your planet of the earth is Mother Earth as a spiritual sister to the singular Soul of God(dess). Which all life shares as its own rightful incarnation at a greater scale of life is Mother Earth and Father Sky than one mortal lifetime as people are predisposed as lifeforms to date. The Universe is only a subset of the Created children of a Majestic Deity which includes the astral multi-verse of the afterlife. (ie the heavens, limbos, and despicable hells)

Every philosophy dependent on like-kind is an expression trying to grapple with the meaning and function of existence at large. Where every patron under the proverbial sky is a governor of a certain aspect of your reality in earnest. Be it of the human condition and/or of meteorological wonders and other meta forms of existence as its very misunderstood conundrums. Some succeed in piercing the veils of the astral metaverse of the spiritual continuum of what you term as the supernatural afterlife.

Meaning the afterlife is the angelic playground of the gods and goddesses as the lesser deities of all combined macro-mythologies across all realities simultaneously extraordinaire. Some worshippers of the angels (ie lesser deities) of now mostly dead religions as schools of thought that later became philosophical doctrines of various orders of a similar kind. Whereas the instance of the School of Diana (Artemis) as the ancient Greco-roman goddess. Is an angelic presence of the heavenly Olympus as the astral Kingdom of God in a metaverse all of its own divine nature.

You see where the children of God worship anything whatsoever as real or unreal all that raw spiritual power dynamo of the Soul of God for centuries has to go somewhere. Thus it becomes enchanted by magical or otherwise divine means under the Will of God mysterious as it stands. All myths and Legends are treated as reality upon the spiritual afterlife regardless if it was real or not on Earth and beyond. Anything that a semi-sentient species like humanity upon the cosmos worship through the Meta-Supreme Almighty Soul of God(dess). Becomes christened as a divine keepsake eternal entity given a spirit body as a zeitgeist of its era or society of its subsequent civilization(s) that birthed it philosophically.

Moreover, anything with sufficient reverence as adorations by humanity en masse. Becomes deified by the Will of God(dess) as the Great Mystery Loves to Create Wonders through its Children Forever as Divine Immaculate Law. A perpetual grandiose cause and effect conundrum on a scale that dwarfs comprehension. Of our combined spiritual understandings as mortals having a finite existence as people much less realized as eternal souls.

This is truly a thing of beauty as an unintended consequence of spirituality with timeless repercussions. God enchants through all of its/his/her Infinite Children as spiritual bodies in motion in any reality whatsoever that it is pleased. Humanity is no exception to this rule of cosmic divinity. So the angelic goddess entity of "Artemis/Diana" is man-made fictitious lore of a now-dead religious theological Hellenistic period of humanity. Albeit paradoxically she was born with her twin brother Helios/Apollo god of an angel by the metaphysics explained above. She isn't immortal stalking the earth as the huntress. She is a christened angel a lesser deity as a spirit body created by humanity's ancient greek soulful devotions worshipped spiritually speaking. Over two thousand years plus of worship and a spirit is born upon the astral realms of humanity.

In the movie THE GOLDEN COMPASS, there are at least 50 references to a child's "DEMON."

Instead of presenting the trailer on the homepage, The Golden Compass website uses audio to introduce the characters of the film and their respective demons, and then provides a prompt to "Meet Your Demon."  Twenty questions are presented which promise to reveal "your true character and the form of your demon."  Once you complete the questionnaire, you can send your resulting demon to your friends, presumably to build a community of young demons who will all later commune at the theater.  This is pure Satanism and it's being directed at our children.  Satan wants your child.  The Golden Compass series glorifies demonism, witchcraft and divination; while blaspheming God Almighty.

In the movie THE GOLDEN COMPASS, children are being kidnapped by a mysterious group called the Gobblers and taken "to the North" where they are tortured by having their daemons separated from them.  This is the Satanic garbage that film producers and book publishers are vomiting upon our children.  Towards the end of the film, the starring little girl deliberately destroys the machine that was robbing children of their daemons.  Literally, the movie portrays the little girl as a hero for ensuring that all the other children can continue to be daemon possessed.  This is one sick movie, straight out of the pits of Hell.

I have to preface by saying I’m agnostic. I’ve been getting recurring Loki dreams for several years now. MCU Hiddles Loki. Anyway, to answer your first question, Heathenry is more concerned about orthopraxy than orthodoxy. That is, the focus is more on religious practice and living a moral life than on believing the right stuff. There are agnostic Heathens today, and there were “godless” heathens in historical times who rejected religion but considered themselves pagan for political and cultural reasons. As long as you respect the beliefs of those who are of a more theistic bent, you’ll be welcome in Heathen spaces.

Unfortunately, only you can determine if something is a sign. Everyone has different criteria for what counts as sufficient evidence, and only you know what yours are. And only you know your local environment and circumstances. For example, an animal that shows up on my front lawn every day might be a super rare sighting for you, and vice versa. You’re the only one with enough context to decide whether what you’re seeing is mundane confirmation bias or something that’s actually improbable and out of the ordinary.

But when it comes to deciding whether or not you could work with Loki, it doesn’t actually matter all that much whether your experience is a sign. Filipinos are typically an intensely religious (superstitious) people. Roman Catholicism dominates, there are other various Christian/Protestant sects and a sizeable Muslim population. The Philippines of PT no longer observes Muslim holy days, however, and is seeing a popular movement towards Christian (Catholic) values. Paganism and folk beliefs, oddly, have strong supporters in the communist and rebel paramilitary groups (even a godless people need something to believe in, it seems). They wear talismans that they believe protect them from bullets. Agimat, or talismans, typically make use of Masonic, Greek, or alchemical symbology. I presume these were brought over to the Philippines by Europeans during the Spanish colonial period, and embraced by local mystic traditions.

There are hundreds of different Filipino pagan pantheons, as there are hundreds of indigenous tribes and nations. The afterlife, creation stories, tales of the death of the gods, cataclysms, legends of various deluges, animal fables, epic and heroic poetry all exist in multiple and different forms across different Filipino cultures. There are also traces of Hindu beliefs (brought by ancient settlers and traders) in art, place names, the various dialects, and in some myths.

Catholicism as practiced by most Filipinos is sincretic, it bends and accommodates very old folk and pagan beliefs. Native Filipinos welcomed the idea of rosaries and religious medals readily enough; for them they were just another talisman. The vast number of Catholic saints was only logical; are there not hundreds of gods for each valley and forest? The sincretism ranges from an absentminded belief that one shouldn't walk in certain areas after dark for fear of the ill glance (masamang tingin), to a sincere conviction that anito exist and engaging the services of barangans, hilot and babaylan. Mystery, possession, the fear of witchcraft and miracles fit in the belief that humans only shared the world with others, that dieties might sometimes inhabit the body of the village holy man or woman, and that the spiritualist or shaman was a conduit of spirits and a spokesperson for those from the other world. The church hierarchy tries to impose some sort of rational system of belief and acceptable sacraments based on canon law and catechism, but the people of the islands have believed and lived these traditions since ancient times. They're part of the water and soil.

Catholicism is strange enough as it is, but in the remote areas of the country and sometimes in the civilized cities, it is wild, ecstatic, irrational. It's rules make sense to those who know, and outsiders can only look on in confusion.

God's Tools for Judgment May Shock You

It's one thing to talk about the judgment of God coming upon His people. Its an entirely different manner when that judgment comes in the form of the worst kingdom imaginable. 

Isaiah 13 opens with shocking language from God concerning the tool in His hand of judgment against Israel, the pagan idolatrous nation of Babylon.

Isaiah 13:1–3 (ESV) The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw. 2 On a bare hill raise a signal; cry aloud to them; wave the hand for them to enter the gates of the nobles. 3 I myself have commanded my consecrated ones, and have summoned my mighty men to execute my anger, my proudly exulting ones.

Notice the word, "consecrated". The word is "qadash" in Hebrew which refers to set apart or "holy." It's used in Genesis 2:3 to refer to the Sabbath day as "holy." It refers to the firstborn of Israel in Exodus 13:2. All throughout the Law it refers to objects and people set apart for God's purposes. And here Isaiah uses that term to illustrate Babylon!

Wow. 

This kind of shatters what you imagine when you think of holiness, doesn't it? Holiness is a designation, not a moral improvement. Yes, moral improvement may result, but it is not the definition of holiness. Holiness happens when we are used by God. And sometimes to be used for God, He has to use other things to chisel away the things that do not glorify Him in us.

Isaiah 13:5 (ESV) They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the LORD and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

Isaiah wants to be clear. God is doing this. He will use one nation to punish His own people. Later in the chapter, Isaiah tells what sin the Lord is dealing with specifically. As usual, downfalls begin with pride.

Isaiah 13:11 (ESV) I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.

Then, suddenly in verse 17, the chapter lists another tool in God's arsenal. One that can barely be considered a relevant threat at this time. 

Isaiah 13:17 (ESV) Behold, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who have no regard for silver and do not delight in gold.

Isaiah 13:19 (ESV) And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the splendor and pomp of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah when God overthrew them.

It would take a few decades, but the Medes would bring destruction on Babylon. Just as Babylon was His holy tool to judge Judah, the Medes will be His tool to judge Babylon. Even more, the destruction of Babylon will be complete and forever. 

Isaiah 13:20–21 (ESV) It will never be inhabited or lived in for all generations; no Arab will pitch his tent there; no shepherds will make their flocks lie down there. 21 But wild animals will lie down there, and their houses will be full of howling creatures; there ostriches will dwell, and there wild goats will dance.

For sure, the spirit of Babylon is alive and well and often described toward the end of the New Testament. But the nation is long gone and the area is indeed an uninhabited wasteland today. 

Here's the key difference between God's judgment of His own people and His judgment of outsiders. When God judges His people it is to purify and restore them to righteous living. When God judges outsiders it is to wipe them out. 

Isaiah 13 makes one thing clear. God is in total control of the nations. He rules even those foreign and godless leaders and nations that we think are "getting away" with sin and wickedness. He will, in concern for the character of those who bear His name, use the pagans to make His children pure. He will do this because we are made to reflect Him.
