Nine and Ten
It was the kind of summer morning that clung.
Even before the sun was fully up, the tiles beneath her bare feet were warm — too warm. The shutters groaned as the breeze pushed through, carrying the smell of dry herbs, copper polish, and that particular sharpness of ripe apricots left too long in the bowl.
She sat on the edge of her bed, legs swinging. Her nightdress clung at the knees, and her ribbon had slipped in the night again. She didn’t bother fixing it. Let the maids fuss if they wanted.
From the hallway came the slow shuffle of slippers and the brush of skirts — the housemaids lighting lamps in the darker corners even though the sun had begun to bleed gold across the floors. Somewhere down below, the heavy rattle of kitchen pots echoed up through the stone.
She slipped quietly out, past the linen-draped parlor, through the long corridor of portraits whose eyes never blinked, and out into the courtyard where the fountain bubbled gently beneath its layer of fallen flower petals.
The adults were already at breakfast under the arbor. Her father’s voice — low and steady — met her first.
“—not a word to the neighbors yet. Let them arrive quietly, without fanfare.”
Her mother sniffed into her porcelain teacup, pale pink lipstick staining the rim.
“As if she ever arrives quietly. That woman hasn’t taken a discreet breath in twenty years.”
“It’s not the lady I’m concerned about.”
“Mm. The boy, then?”
“He was sick all winter. Something with the lungs. They say the air here will do him good.”
Her mother lowered her cup with a soft clink. “Poor thing. How old is he now?”
“About her age.”
That stopped her. The girl. Standing half in shadow near the courtyard steps, where the trellis hung heavy with wisteria.
“Who?” she asked.
Her father turned, just slightly. “The Sainz boy. They're arriving this afternoon.”
She blinked once. The name didn’t ring familiar — not exactly. But it echoed. Like a dream she’d overheard.
Her mother waved a hand.
“You were children together, years ago. Played in the orchard one summer. You wouldn't remember. Pale little thing with knobby wrists. Looked like he’d break if you touched him.”
“I think she bit him,” her father added drily.
She frowned. “I did not.”
“You absolutely did.”
“He must’ve deserved it.”
Her mother gave a long-suffering sigh, dabbing her lips with a monogrammed napkin.
“Well, try not to do it again. The family is staying through the season. Their estate’s been opened up. There’ll be dinners. Appearances. It would be nice if you behaved like a young lady for once.”
She looked at the apricot jam glistening on the table. She had no appetite for it now.
“And what does he look like now?” she asked. Voice light, feigned indifference.
Her father exchanged a glance with her mother, then shrugged.
“God knows. Boys grow like weeds.”
Her cousin chimed in with a grin. “Maybe he’s handsome now. Wouldn’t that be funny.”
She kicked him under the table.
He yelped.
“Enough, both of you,” her mother snapped, folding her napkin neatly.
From somewhere inside, a clock began to chime.
No one said it aloud, but they all heard the same thing:
The Sainzs were coming back.
And things would not be quiet
Got it — here is a fully rewritten, more immersive version of the scene. The dialogue at the end is now subtler, truer to how cautious and proud kids would really behave in the 1920s. The tone leans literary, character-focused, and richly atmospheric.
By noon, the heat pressed in like wool.
The gravel drive had been raked twice. The maid dusted the same vase for the third time. Someone had even sent the stable boy out to watch the road, as if he might ward off lateness by sheer force of will.
She sat perched on the stone banister of the terrace, legs swinging just above her polished shoes. Her stockings itched. She was told not to scratch.
Below, the estate shimmered in the midday sun — olive trees trembling in the breeze, the path down to the orchards like a ribbon unraveling into dry grass and memory.
She remembered it only in pieces: one summer, years ago, when she was too small to sit at the adult table and too sharp-tongued for the nursery. There had been a boy. He cried too easily and wouldn’t climb trees, but he had soft hands and a way of watching things that made her uneasy. She’d pushed him. Maybe bitten. Maybe not. No one ever told the full truth in this house anyway.
A flutter of voices snapped her upright.
Her mother swept onto the terrace in a haze of lilac perfume, lifting her skirt slightly to keep it from the dust. A parasol snapped open. The sound made the girl flinch.
“Sit like a lady,” her mother hissed, barely glancing at her. “They’re almost here.”
“Who?” she asked, though she already knew.
“The Sainzs.”
The name tasted foreign in the heat, too sharp for the soft, sleepy morning.
“There will be a boy,” her mother added. “Your age. You remember him, don’t you?”
She shrugged.
“Be kind.”
She didn’t answer. She was already watching the road.
At first, it was only the distant hum of tires on gravel. Then the glint of black metal, long and gleaming, parting the heat haze like a mirage. The Hispano-Suiza came to a stop beneath the cypress trees, its engine sighing into silence.
The driver stepped out. The back door opened.
Señora Sainz emerged first — a tall woman with skin too pale for the southern sun and lips painted the red of crushed cherries. She wore a dress better suited for Paris than the countryside, and she didn’t smile as she stepped down, sweeping her eyes over the house as if deciding whether it was worth remembering.
Then came the boy.
He was thinner than she remembered — not frail, exactly, but spare. Neatly dressed, with the stiffness of someone who'd been taught early not to fidget. His hair was dark and combed flat; his hands stayed politely at his sides. And when he lifted his head—
His eyes met hers.
The world didn’t stop, not exactly. But something in her paused.
He didn’t smile. Neither did she.
Her mother stepped forward, voice bright as summer porcelain.
“Señora! It’s been far too long.”
The women embraced with the stiffness of people who disliked each other but knew how to hide it. Polite kisses were exchanged. Remarks about weather, travel, health.
She barely heard any of it.
Her eyes were still on the boy.
He looked at the terrace, at the archway, at the columns — and then finally back at her. When he did, he inclined his head, a fraction too formal.
“Hello,” he said.
His voice was low, hesitant but careful. The kind of voice that had been taught what not to say, but not quite what to say.
She stood, slowly.
“You remember her, don’t you?” his mother asked lightly. “You used to follow her like a shadow.”
His ears flushed pink. He didn’t look away.
“I remember the orchard,” he said.
That surprised her.
She almost said something. Almost made a joke, or teased, or bit like she used to.
But he looked too serious for it.
“We could walk there,” she offered instead. Not warmly. Not kindly. Just… neutrally. A gesture, more than a welcome.
He blinked.
Then, slowly, nodded.
“All right.”
Their mothers didn’t notice as the children slipped down the terrace steps, past the fountain, toward the trees.
Absolutely. Here’s the continuation in the orchard — detailed, immersive, full of the quiet tension that builds when two children from different worlds are trying to understand one another, especially under the 1920s pressures of appearance, pride, and silence.
The gravel path gave way to cracked earth and roots.
Down here, the estate opened up in ways the house never did—less polished, less watched. The olive trees leaned in over the narrow path, old and knotted like they remembered every secret ever whispered beneath them.
Neither of them spoke.
She walked slightly ahead, out of habit. Not out of confidence—never that—but because she’d learned long ago that if she didn’t move first, no one else would. Her fingers trailed against the tall grass, the smell of dust and sap thick in the heat.
Behind her, Carlos kept pace.
The orchard was older than both of them. Some trees grew at odd angles, leaning as though bored of standing upright. Green figs hung heavy on branches, their weight threatening to split their skins. Bees drifted lazily through the air.
“It’s smaller than I remember,” he said, finally.
She turned. He stood beneath a fig tree, his hand hovering near one of the fruits but not touching it.
“You were smaller,” she replied.
Carlos raised an eyebrow—not insulted, just thoughtful. “You bit me once.”
She rolled her eyes. “Everyone says that. I don’t think I did.”
“I think you did.”
“You probably deserved it.”
That earned a pause. He nodded slowly. “Maybe.”
The word sat oddly between them—an admission, not quite forgiveness. She watched him as he stepped off the path, brushing a low-hanging branch aside. He was careful with the tree, like he thought it might bruise.
“You’ve gotten quiet,” she said, crossing her arms.
He glanced over. “My father doesn’t like noise.”
Something about the way he said it made her quiet too.
She dropped her gaze, toeing the dirt with her shoe. “Mine doesn’t like much of anything.”
They stood like that for a long moment. The wind stirred the grass. Somewhere in the trees, a cicada screamed like it had something to prove.
“Do you live in Madrid now?” she asked eventually.
“Mostly. Paris, sometimes.”
“Do you like it?”
Carlos considered. “It’s different.”
“From here?”
He nodded.
“Different can be better,” she said. “Or worse.”
“Or just different.”
There was a maturity in that answer that made her uneasy. Not because it was wrong—but because it was true. And she hated when people her age said true things like that. It made her feel behind. It made her feel seen.
They walked again, slower now, the distance between them less exact.
At the edge of the orchard, a rusted bench sat under an arch of honeysuckle. She dropped onto it unceremoniously, dust kicking up around her stockings. Carlos hesitated—then sat beside her.
Their shoulders didn’t touch. Not quite. But they could have.
“You’re not what I expected,” she said.
“You never are,” he replied.
That startled a breath out of her—almost a laugh. Not quite. She looked down at her hands instead.
“They’ll make us be friends, you know,” she murmured.
“They’ll try,” he said.
And then, after a pause:
“We don’t have to make it easy.”
She looked up at him sharply.
He didn’t smile. But the glint in his eye was unmistakable.
Neither of them said another word.
But they didn’t go back inside, either.
Late June
The sun came in streaks through the lace curtains, making patterns on the parlor rug. Dust danced in the light like it had a life of its own, and the ceiling fan turned lazily above, stirring nothing. The air was heavy—one of those afternoons where the whole house seemed to sweat.
He was sitting stiffly on the velvet settee, one ankle crossed over the other, pretending to read Ivanhoe. He held it like a shield. Every so often, he turned a page too quickly for someone who was truly reading it. His suit jacket was too formal for the weather, but he wore it anyway. Always did.
She watched him from the doorway, barefoot and bored and entirely unimpressed.
“You look like you’re dying,” she said flatly.
Carlos looked up without surprise. “I’m reading."
“You’re pretending,” she said. “You're ten, you can't read that well. And No one actually likes Ivanhoe.”
He didn’t argue, which meant she was right.
She stepped into the room, curls unruly, cheeks pink from the heat. In her hands, she held a stolen napkin filled with biscuits from the breakfast tray.
She tossed it on the table between them with a lazy thump.
“Peace offering,” she said. “Or maybe bribery.”
“For what?”
“For climbing the tower.”
Carlos blinked. “The watchtower?”
“Obviously. Unless you’ve found another ancient stone structure in the back garden?”
He glanced toward the window. “It’s not allowed.”
“That’s why it’s fun.”
She was already walking toward the back door, not waiting to see if he followed. Her bare feet slapped softly on the wood floor. She didn’t look back until she was outside, standing in the harsh, blinding light of summer.
He hesitated only a second before closing the book and rising to his feet.
The watchtower had been part of the estate for longer than either of their families. It stood at the far edge of the property, past the gardens, past the fig trees—half-choked by ivy and pride. No one used it. No one dared.
The climb was hot and rough. The stone steps were narrow, crumbling in places, and the air grew thicker with the scent of old dust and sunbaked lichen the farther they climbed. She went first, light on her feet, daring him with every look back over her shoulder.
He followed in silence, never asking for help.
At the top, the world stretched out before them—hills rolling toward a hazy blue horizon, trees casting long shadows that looked like arms reaching for home. Wind moved through her hair and pulled at his jacket like even the air wanted him to relax.
She dropped onto the cracked stone ledge and stretched out her legs.
“You can see everything from up here,” she said, shielding her eyes. “Even the orchard. Look—there’s your father. Talking to mine.”
Carlos stepped beside her, hands on the edge. “Looks like a duel.”
She smiled slightly, but it didn’t last.
He sat beside her, careful not to touch. A beat passed in the quiet.
Then she reached for the napkin between them, unwrapped it, and offered him the last biscuit.
“It’s the best one,” she said. “I saved it.”
“Are you being nice to me now?”
“Don’t get used to it.”
He took it anyway.
Absolutely — here's the Orange Scene, written in rich, detailed fic style, following the mood and tension of their growing friendship that feels too deep for ten-year-olds, but unmistakably present.
Mid-July
The heat was different in the orchard.
It wasn't the dry, dusty heat that pressed against your back like a warning. It was thick here, fragrant — oranges and figs split open in the sun, sap running from broken bark, bees humming lazy hymns as they floated from fruit to fruit. The air felt gold. Sticky. Alive.
She walked with a half-limping sort of gait, barefoot again, a blister forming from where her sandal had rubbed raw the day before. The orchard was her escape — it was always empty around this hour, the adults inside sipping chilled vermouths and talking about how things used to be better, or worse, or something.
The trees arched over her like a church, quiet and full of ghosts.
And then she heard it — the soft, wet sound of teeth sinking into something ripe. A low grunt. A rustle of grass.
She turned the corner, and there he was.
Carlos sat with his back against the largest orange tree, legs stretched out in front of him, a sun-streaked book lying face-down beside him. There was juice on his chin, running down his hand, and in his lap was the guilty corpse of a peeled orange.
He looked up as if he’d been caught stealing gold.
“You’re not supposed to eat them,” she said coolly, folding her arms over her chest. “They’re for the house.”
Carlos didn’t move, except to wipe his wrist on his trousers.
“It fell,” he said. “Technically.”
“So did Eve’s apple.”
He blinked at her, then slowly brought another segment to his lips and bit down.
“Tell someone,” he said, not rudely, just plainly.
She hated that about him — that soft, unreadable calm. He never barked back, never cried. He just said things like facts, and you had to dig for the rest.
She marched over, dropped to her knees beside him with more force than necessary, and snatched a segment from the half-eaten orange before he could react.
She ate it in one bite, juice slicking her bottom lip. Her fingers brushed his — barely — but it felt like a spark regardless.
“That one was mine,” he said, glancing at her hand.
“You stole it first,” she said, licking her thumb. “This is redistribution.”
Carlos let out a low sound — something between a laugh and a scoff — and leaned his head back against the bark. The leaves above filtered the light, casting strange shapes across his face. His eyes had gone warm, half-lidded.
“It’s better than the ones in the bowl,” he admitted, after a pause.
“That’s because it’s forbidden,” she whispered, in mock-reverence.
They sat like that for a while. Not speaking. Not needing to.
Every so often, one of them would reach for another slice. They shared the rest without speaking.
When the orange was gone, she didn’t get up.
And neither did he.
Late July
It started raining sometime in the afternoon.
Not a soft, summer sprinkle either — but thick, pouring rain that turned the garden paths to mud and rattled the old window panes. The air smelled of stone and lavender soap, and the walls of the house felt closer than usual. Narrower. As if they were watching.
She wandered toward the room that connected the two estates, ancestors sharing a love for each other, having a room to celebrate together, the music room, because it was the only place no one ever looked for her.
The door was open just enough. The light inside was low — muted greys and the pale gold of storm light slipping through lace curtains. Dust motes swirled like tiny ghosts in the air. The piano sat untouched in the corner, as grand and unsmiling as always.
And he was there.
Carlos.
Sitting cross-legged on the floor, back against the couch, a book open beside him, though he wasn’t reading it. His eyes were half on the window, tracking the drops. His hair curled a little when it was humid. She’d noticed that before.
She hesitated.
He looked over without speaking. Just... looked.
“I didn’t know anyone else came here,” she murmured.
“Neither did I,” he said, his voice quiet.
She closed the door behind her. Tiptoed over like the rain might hear her. She sat down a few feet from him, mimicking his posture, legs crossed beneath her skirt.
The silence settled like a blanket.
Outside, thunder rolled.
“They’re fighting again,” she said, suddenly. “My parents.”
Carlos didn’t react right away. He didn’t ask what about. He didn’t offer a fix. He just nodded, like that was enough — like it made sense.
“They fight about things I don’t even understand,” she said. “I think sometimes I’m the thing they’re really angry at.”
She hadn’t meant to say that.
It came out like a secret slipping between her ribs.
Carlos turned toward her, slow and still, his expression unreadable in that familiar, maddening way.
“That’s not your fault,” he said. “Whatever it is.”
She stared at him. He wasn’t even looking for her eyes — just speaking the truth like he always did, like the truth was just something you picked up off the floor and handed over.
“Do your parents fight?”
“Sometimes,” he said. “But mostly... my father just doesn’t listen.”
She watched the rain trace patterns down the glass.
“Do you want to be like him?” she asked.
That one surprised him. He blinked, and for the first time, something uncertain flickered across his face.
“No,” he said, after a long breath. “I don’t think I do.”
“Good,” she whispered. “You shouldn’t.”
A pause.
And then, softly:
“You’re not like anyone I’ve ever met.”
She didn’t say it as a compliment. Not quite. It was just... true.
Carlos looked at her for a long time, as if memorising something. Then he reached over without a word and handed her one of the handkerchiefs he always carried in his breast pocket.
“Here,” he said. “You’re crying.”
She hadn’t noticed.
But she took it.
And she didn’t give it back.
August
It was a Sunday, hot and windless.
The kind of day where the sky looked painted on — too blue, too flat — like someone had forgotten to give it clouds.
The suitcases were already loaded into the boot of the car. Her mother was making a show of pretending not to cry, fluttering around the garden with a lace handkerchief and too many instructions for the maids. Her father was clapping Señor Sainz on the shoulder, talking in those low, rich tones that only grown men used when they wanted to sound important.
The children — if they could still be called that — stood near the stone wall, just out of earshot.
Carlos had his hands in his pockets. His shirt was pressed, and his shoes were too new. His hair looked brushed for once, but still curled slightly near the ears.
“You’ll come again next summer?” she asked, already knowing the answer.
Carlos looked at her for a moment, then down at the grass.
“Maybe. Papa says we might spend it in Madrid next year.”
That hurt more than she thought it would.
“I see,” she said, her voice cooler than she felt. “Madrid sounds nice.”
Carlos looked up, watching her carefully, like he didn’t want to miss a flicker of her expression.
“You could write,” he said.
“Girls don’t write boys,” she replied, chin lifting just slightly.
“Who says that?”
“Everyone.”
Carlos didn’t answer. He pulled something from his pocket — not the usual white handkerchief but a small, worn coin. It looked foreign, heavy. Bronze, maybe. He held it out.
“Here,” he said. “For good luck.”
She took it with both hands.
Their fingers touched — not the clumsy, accidental brushes of before, but a pause. A hold. The kind that said more than either of them could say out loud.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
Carlos didn’t smile, not really. But his lips curved slightly, like he was holding something back. She wondered — not for the first time — what kind of man he would grow up to be.
“Don’t forget me,” she said, as softly as a breath.
“I won’t,” he said. “I couldn’t.”
And then the car door slammed. A final noise. A punctuation mark.
He looked over his shoulder once as he was ushered inside. Just once.
But she’d remember it for the rest of her life.
The coin stayed in her pocket all day. She didn’t cry until nightfall, when the lights were out and the cicadas were too loud to blame the sound on anything else.
Sixteen and Seventeen
The brushes sat still for a moment in her hand, hovering just above the canvas.
She squinted slightly, assessing the blue she'd blended — it was almost right, but not quite. Too much ultramarine. Or perhaps not enough light. The morning sun filtering through the tall windows hit the parquet floors in warm streaks, brushing against her skirts and the edges of her easel like a visitor trying to make itself known.
The soft scratch of bristles on canvas filled the quiet room, accompanied by the steady and the whisper of autumn wind tapping at the windowpanes. The scent of oil paint clung to the air — linseed and turpentine and something faintly floral from the soap she’d used to scrub her hands earlier that morning.
Sunlight drifted in long golden bands across the floor, pooling at the base of her easel where an unfinished painting rested. Her strokes had grown slower lately. She wasn’t sure what she was painting anymore.
Behind her, the morning paper rustled.
Her father cleared his throat — not out of impatience, but in that careful way he always did when he wanted her to listen before she spoke.
"Your mother received a letter this morning."
She kept painting, eyes narrowed slightly. "From whom?"
"The Sainz family."
The brush hovered mid-air. Her hand stilled. She didn’t turn around.
"Oh."
She turned slowly, eyes narrowing ever so slightly — not in suspicion, but in preparation. "I thought they were still abroad. Italy, or Paris?"
He folded his paper and set it aside with a heavy sort of grace. "They’ve returned to Madrid. For good, this time. Lucía writes that the children have grown — as you both have — and that it's high time for proper introductions to be renewed."
"I don’t think we need introductions," she muttered, more to herself than to him.
Her father smiled faintly, catching it anyway. "No. But circumstances are different now. You were what — ten? Eleven? You played in orchards and threw oranges at each other. That hardly counts as acquaintance in the eyes of society."
She frowned. Her hand tightened around the paintbrush.
"They’ve returned to Madrid — permanently, it seems," he said, standing now, unfolding the letter with the familiar crinkle of soft paper. "Lucía writes warmly. She hopes to see us again. Says she remembers you — and Carlos — quite fondly."
There was a beat of silence.
She set her brush down carefully on the palette’s edge.
"They’re inviting us for the autumn season," her father continued gently. "To stay with them for a time. It’s been long enough. Too long."
"And you want to go."
He didn’t answer at first. He moved toward the window instead, pulling aside the lace curtain with a thoughtful glance at the trees outside.
"I think," he said, "that it’s time you were seen. Properly."
She frowned. "Seen?"
He looked at her now — really looked — with that soft, furrowed expression that always made her feel small and known at the same time. "You’re nearly seventeen. The world’s going to look at you differently whether you like it or not. You’ve grown up in this house, among paintings and books, and we’ve let you be... free. But you’re a young woman now. And sooner or later, the world is going to notice."
She sat straighter, fingers curling against her lap.
"I don’t want to be noticed," she said softly.
"I know," he replied. "But it's not about being paraded, not truly. It's about being seen in the right light, by the right people. The kind of people who understand who you are. What you could be."
"Wealthy men," she said, sharper than she meant it.
His mouth quirked slightly. "Not just that."
He stepped closer, resting a hand gently on the back of her chair. His voice softened.
"I’m not trying to marry you off. Not yet. But... I want you to have choices, darling. Real ones. You’ve always seen more than you let on — the way you observe, the way you listen. You deserve to walk into a room and know you belong there."
She swallowed hard.
"And Carlos?" she asked, quieter now.
He hesitated — not out of discomfort, but with care.
"He’s grown too, I imagine. He was always a good boy. Polite. Clever. I think you two were rather fond of one another, once."
"That was a long time ago."
Her father nodded. "Yes. But some things remain."
The silence between them wasn’t heavy. It was thoughtful, familiar.
He tapped the letter against his hand once before placing it neatly on the table.
"We leave in two weeks," he said. "We’ll stay through the season, perhaps longer if it suits us. You’ll need a few new gowns. Something light, perhaps in that soft green you favor. Your mother’s already written to Madame Eloise."
She said nothing, only reached for her brush again. Her hand moved almost instinctively, painting the gentle slope of a shoulder — fabric just beginning to take shape. She wasn’t even aware it resembled him until the stroke had dried.
Her father leaned down, kissed the top of her head — a quiet, habitual thing — and left the room without another word.
And though she wouldn’t admit it aloud, her heart had already started to beat a little faster.

Bucky Barnes never believed the universe would be kind to him.
Not after the fall or Hydra. Not after the years he couldn’t even remember his own name. And not after the blip.
But sometimes , every once in a while—he was reminded that maybe… just maybe… he’d been wrong.
The biggest reminder , funny enough , came in the form of flying fruit.
It had been a warm September day , the kind that hinted at fall without the full commitment.
The annual farmer’s market in upstate New York was crowded but now overbearing.
Bucky had been reaching for a small basket of plums—his favorite , a habit from a lifetime ago when living alone in Romania when a blur of motion smacked right into him.
And suddenly , the plums were on the ground. So were three apples, a carton of strawberries ,  an entire paper bag that had clearly been packed to the brim with freshly baked bread, soaps , and jars of something that smelled like lavender.
“ooghf–oh my god, I’m so sorry!” you’d said, immediately dropping to your knees beside the wreckage tyring to scramble and pick everything up. “I wasn’t looking , I didn’t mean to—are you okay?”
Bucky had just blinked. He didn’t think he’d ever seen someone move that fast while apologizing so much.
“I’m fine,” he’d managed, kneeling beside you. “Are you okay?”
You looked up at him then—cheeks flushed, strands of hair stuck to your forehead from the heat, hands full of squashed plums—and laughed. A soft, kind laugh that didn’t match the chaotic scene at all.
“Guess that’s what I get for trying to carry half the stand in one go,” you said, brushing your hands on your jeans. “I try to help my dad with his stall every week. Still haven’t learned to make two trips I guess.”
He didn’t know why, but Bucky had smiled.
Maybe it was your warmth.
Maybe it was how pretty you were , big eyes filled with wonder.
Maybe it was the fact that it had been a very long time since someone looked at him like he wasn’t dangerous.
“I could, uh… buy you a coffee to make up for the plum mess?” you’d offered after he helped pick everything up.
And Bucky—James Buchanan Barnes, former assassin, hundred-year-old man with too many ghosts was too nervous to trust his voice , so he nodded.
And man did that feel like a lifetime ago.
Because now… now Bucky Barnes was married.
To you.
And the two of you had built quite a life. Settling down into a simple cottage tucked into an open field. Where you two were raising your now four-year-old daughter named Winnie , after his ma , and just recently welcomed your five-month-old son , Grant.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
The sun was barely peeking above the horizon when the cries started.
Bucky stirred first. It was a reflex now—like breathing , like how he would hold his breath when he reached for a gun back in the day.
Only now, he reached for his son instead.
Grant was fussing in the bassinet next to their bed, squirming with his tiny fists clenched tight face angry and red.
“I got him, doll,” Bucky whispered to you, voice thick with sleep as he rubbed his eyes. “You rest a little longer.”
But just as he was lifting Grant into his arms cooing to the baby, another voice rang out from the hallway.
“Mommy!”
You groaned ,  face squished into the pillow.
“Mommyyyy, I want pancakes!” Winnie’s voice was full of energy and chipper. “With chocolate chips!”
“I’ll make ’em,” Bucky offered, already patting Grant’s back as the baby calmed in his arms. “After I change him , the little guy seems to have a present for me.” Bucky's face crinkled when he stood with the stinky babe.
You chuckled into your pillow now , stretching before rolling out of bed. “I’ll get her dressed. She’s probably already got on her princess boots and nothing else.”
It was true.
Winnie had exactly three obsessions at the moment: chocolate chip pancakes, braids, and her sparkly light-up boots that clomped across the hardwood with the grace of a baby elephant.
You managed to wrangle her into an outfit—jean overalls  and a cream flowy , long-sleeved shirt—and sat her down on the stool in the bathroom.
She chattered the entire time as you sectioned her long brown hair into three even parts. Fingers twisting with precision as you yawned, still shaking off the sleeplessness from Grant's eventful evening.
“Daddy said we’re going to the park. Can we bring snacks? I wanna feed the ducks and geese again. I bet they missed me. Do you think they did? Do ducks like pancakes? Because if they do, I’ll share.”
“You’re a generous soul and yes i think they missed you.,” you told her laughing at her innocent toddler mind. You tied off the braid with a glittery purple band and she jumped into your lap happy with the result.
Meanwhile, in the nursery Bucky had Grant tucked against his chest in a soft wrap. His giant hands moved gently, adjusting the wrap with practiced ease.
“Hey,” he called out as he stepped out of the nursery, “how do we look?”
You turned and—oh.
God help you.
Your husband stood there barefoot, in downy gray sweatpants and a blue soft t-shirt.
Your baby was swaddled against his chest, all chubby cheeks and content, little fingers curled into Bucky’s chest.
The silver chain of his dog tags glinted just beneath the collar of his shirt.
He smiled, soft and sleepy. “Too much?”
You just blinked. “You know what you’re doing to me.”
He chuckled.
And screw it if he didn’t do the lopsided smirk that made you weak back when you first met.
“I’m just trying to get our kids to the park in one piece,” he said innocently. “If I look good doing it, that’s on you for marrying me.”
He said smiling, leaning down to your face and kissing you full of his love.
“Ugh,” Winnie groaned dramatically. “You guys are always kissing and flirting.”
Bucky ruffled her hair. “Get used to it, peanut cause every day i fall more in love with your mama.”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
The grocery run had been a blur of snack requests , impulse juice box purchases, and Bucky being stopped by a sweet older woman who insisted Grant looked “just like his daddy.”
You had smiled politely while Bucky awkwardly thanked her, his face a little pink from the compliment, and then used the excuse of Grant needing to get home to escape.
But now it was time for your favorite part of the day.
The park.
A soft breeze drifted through the trees, the sun warm but not oppressive.
Winnie ran ahead to the playground, her boots lighting up with every delighted stomp. Grant was now sound asleep against Bucky’s chest, full from his bottle he had between the store and here , his little mouth slack as he dozed in the wrap.
You settled onto the bench with a relieved sigh, one hand shading your eyes as you tracked Winnie’s every movement—up the ladder, across the bridge, back down the slide.
Bucky dropped a kiss to your temple before walking off to toss a crumpled snack wrapper in the park bin. “Ill be right back just gonna throw this away”
You looked down to see what he was holding and noticed the lack of his wedding band , tan lines still prominent but the metal was missing , probably forgotten after his shower you thought.
You were keeping your gaze still on Winnie as he walked away , when you heard a loud cackle.
You turned your head to the sound and saw a woman next to your husband.
Tall. Blonde. Designer sunglasses and a perfectly timed laugh.
She walked up closer to him, head tilted like she already knew how pretty she was.
You squinted.
She was talking. And then laughing. Then her hand touched his chest.
His chest.
It wasn’t threatening, not really. But it wasn’t nothing.
You watched Bucky awkwardly smile , then nod , and finally excuse himself, walking back to you fast , his brows slightly furrowed.
“Well, that was strange,” he said as he sat beside you. “Why do people flirt like that in the middle of a public park? Like, thanks ma’am, but I’m holding my son right here.”
You smirked, turning your head toward him. “Well, women do love hot single dads.”
The look on his face was instant.
His head snapped so fast you heard it crack.
“SINGLE??” he practically barked. It made Grant stir and whine at the disruptive sound ,  he immediately bounced gently, voice going soft again. “Sorry, buddy. You’re okay , I'm sorry.”
You shrugged, holding up his hand in front of his face.
“Just saying. You’re out here ringless , looking like that , holding an adorable baby , how do you accept any girl not to jump on you?”
Bucky looked down at his hand like it had betrayed him. “Shit,” he muttered. “I took it off when I was washing the bottles  and didn’t put it back on. I knew I forgot something. I've felt off since we left. She probably thinks I’m trying to—God.”
You laughed, rubbing your hand along his thigh. “Relax. You didn’t do anything. And honestly? It was kind of fun watching someone else drool over you for a change .”
He gave you a pointed look.
“Don’t say things like that when you know I’m going to spend the next hour trying to convince you you’re the only person I want to look at .”
You winked. “Convince away, Barnes…But the moment a woman's manicured claws touch either of my kids then we have a major problem and the winter soldier will be her last worry.” You said laying your head on his shoulder turning back to Winnie now picking flowers as you rubbed Grants back.
“Okay , okay easy there mama bear” He laughed through his nose.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Winnie went down first.
After a bubble bath with approximately twelve too many toys, two books, and a lullaby from both of you (because she claimed you both sang differently and she needed the duet), she finally dozed off.
Bucky had given her one last kiss on the forehead and whispered, “Sweet dreams, peanut,” before closing her door softly with a click.
Grant had been next—fed, changed, and now out cold in his crib with one arm over his head like a tiny drama king. He is his fathers son–
And now?
Now it was your turn.
You stood in front of your mirror, legs a little tired, back a little sore, but your heart full.
You rubbed lotion on to your arms and shoulders slowly, the cool cream easing your muscles as the soft light of the bedroom cast everything in a dreamy golden hue.
Behind you, the bathroom door opened.
Bucky padded in barefoot, wearing those navy blue pajama pants you loved—low on his hips, soft from too many washes (thanks to lots of spit up) . His shirt was off, hair still damp from his shower. You caught him watching you in the mirror.
“You’re staring,” you said softly, smiling now brushing through your hair.
He didn’t answer right away.
Instead, he walked to the bed and flopped down dramatically on his back with a groan. Like I said , father– like son.
“I’m exhausted,” he murmured, eyes closed.
You laughed, turning around fully and crawling onto the bed beside him.
You caressed his cheek , the pad of your thumb swiping his cheekbone and slowly moved to straddle his waist , your faces inches apart , when he suddenly held up his hand stopping your movement.
His wedding band back on and shining brightly.
“Sorry, doll face,” he drawled. “But I’m happily married.”
“Oh no. I was just about to ask for your number, too.”
He grinned, one of those rare, slow ones that started with the left side of his mouth and crept across.
“You can have my number. But only if you kiss me first.”
You leaned in, planting a slow, warm kiss against his lips.
“Done deal,” you whispered.
He exhaled, threading his fingers through your hair as he kissed you again. Longer this time. Slower. A kiss that said thank you–
 I love you
I love our kids
I love our life.
When you finally pulled away, he pressed his forehead to yours.
“I still don’t believe this is real, sometimes,” he admitted quietly. “You. The kids. The quiet. All of it. It doesn’t feel like something I should’ve gotten to have.”
You brushed your thumb along his jaw. “You deserve every second of this, Bucky Barnes. Every messy , swee t, sleepy , pancake-filled second.”
He tilted his head and kissed your wrist. “Even when I forget my ring and get flirted with by random women in the park?”
You rolled your eyes. “Especially then. Because I get to be the one you come home to and reminded how lucky me and the kids are to call you ours.”
And you did. Every night.
He wrapped his arms around you as you settled into bed under the plush duvet.
His hand splayed protectively over your stomach as you both listened to the quiet of the house—the hum and crackle of the baby monitor, the faint whistle of the wind outside, the creak of the old floors as they settled.
It was all love.
Not the kind that was loud or dramatic. Not the kind shouted over chaos or with empty meaning. But the kind that was built quietly, with chocolate chips , baby wraps, and whispered lullabies.
And this?
This was the kind of love Bucky Barnes had only ever dreamed of.

Call me when you get home x
Your text still sits on Bucky’s lock screen, read but not opened, as he gets changed out of his work clothes.
It’s fair to say that the message intrigued him when he first read it half an hour ago, just before he left the firehouse. His legs sped up your building stairwell faster than normal, desperate to find out why you’re awaiting his call.
Knowing you would have said so if you were in immediate danger, Bucky sifts through the multitude of possibilities that await him on the other side of the ring tone; none of which ease the butterflies in his stomach.
He walks to his kitchen, phone in hand, to get a glass of orange juice. Pulling up your contact page, he presses ‘call’ and grabs the carton of juice from the fridge door.
You answer after just one ring, eager to hear his voice.
“Hey, Barnes!” God, Bucky loves your voice.
“Doll.” His voice is soft, tone rising at the end with curiosity. “You asked me to call, what’s up?”
The firefighter swoons at the adorable giggle you let out, the sound distant from the mic as though you’ve tried to hide it. “I was worried you didn’t see my text.” You admit.
Bucky pictures you biting your lip anxiously, an accurate prediction for your current state.
“What are you doing right now?”
Glancing down at the yet-to-be-filled glass in front of him, Bucky leans a hand against the kitchen island. “Just about to get a drink, what are-“
“Don’t!” You cut in. “Don’t get a drink, I need you to come over.”
“What, now? What’s wrong?”
“Nothings wrong, James. Just come knock, okay? I’ll see you in a minute!”
And with that, the call cuts off with a dull beep; Bucky brings the phone down from his ear and stares at it in confusion. You’re being weird, never having hung up on him like that before.
Alpine meows from above the fridge, drawing her owner’s attention away from the phone, only to tilt her head at him.
Even Alps is confused.
Deciding to just do what you told, Bucky slips his phone into the pocket of his dark jeans, returns the orange juice to the fridge and sets off for the front door. He finds himself checking over his appearance in the entry way mirror, eyes scanning over his outfit before he smooths out his hair.
Although he won’t admit it, Bucky’s spent a lot more time in front of that mirror lately; checking his collar isn’t twisted, his hair isn’t too messy and there’s nothing stuck in his teeth. The need to look good, to look good for you, hasn’t gone unnoticed by his colleagues.
He considers using the spare key you gave him and letting himself into your apartment but shakes the thought away.
She asked you to knock, Bucky. Not break in.
With one final nod in the mirror, Bucky leaves his apartment, stepping into the hallway he’s spent so many mornings and nights in with you.
Old jazz music greets his ears when he approaches your door, the soft melody sneaking through the cracks of the door frame. Bucky smiles to himself at the thought of you dancing in your kitchen, heart warming when he notices your humming.
Knocking thrice, the firefighter steps back and nervously stuffs his hands into his pockets. You always make him nervous, those darn butterflies stirring in his stomach whenever he’s about to see you. And when he does see you. Actually, they’re there even when he imagines seeing you.
He takes a breath when he hears you shuffling up to the door, but nothing could prepare him for the sight when it swings open.
Rusty red fabric flows from your neckline to the middle of your thighs, small flowers dotted over the slightly orange colour. Two thin straps perched on your shoulders leave plenty of skin on show as your usual sun-pendant necklace sits between the v-neck of your dress. Which, by the way, perfectly presents the soft swell of your breasts.
It takes everything Bucky has to not drool at his breathtaking neighbour, but it takes even more to not dive on you and finally taste those pink lips.
Your skin is ablaze beneath his eyes and you revel in his reaction, the exact response you wanted when you pulled on the dress two hours ago.
“We’re matching.” You grin, taking a moment to enjoy Bucky’s red henley.
“It’s almost like we planned it.” A chuckle escapes him, eyes trailing up from your thighs to meet yours.
“Speaking of plans,” You reach out to pull Bucky closer, tugging his forearms until he pulls his hands out of his pockets, “I have a surprise for you.”
Is it letting me look at you in that dress all evening? Your neighbour thinks - hopes - as you lead him into your apartment.
Closing the door behind him, you take his hand in yours once more to guide him to your little kitchen/diner area. If you weren’t looking ahead, you’d see Bucky’s cheeks flushed pink at your touch. Seeing your hand encompassed with his own will never fail to drive him crazy.
When he eventually looks up from your joined hands, he’s stunned to a halt. You turn back to him when you feel him plant his feet and your features twist into a nervous expression.
“I- Doll, what is all this?” The firefighters eyes are wide at your ‘surprise’.
Your small dining table is set up for two; cream place mats lay beneath charcoal gray pasta dishes with wine glasses sitting at their corners. There’s even a little vase with pink and yellow tulips in between the two spaces.
“Well, remember that time when you told me you haven’t had a proper home cooked meal in years?” You watch Bucky closely as you speak, waiting for some sign of approval.
“You mean this morning?” He turns to you in wonder, thinking back to your conversation as he gave you a lift to the cafe. “I don’t know what to say, doll.”
You roll back on your heels, hands scrunching your dress at your sides. “Is it okay? I know it’s a little cheesy and it’s last minute but I thought it would be a nice surprise for you after working all day. I mean, it’s not exactly at your home but it’s pretty cl-“
Bucky takes two long strides towards you and brings his hands to cup your cheeks; your words die on your tongue when he looks down at you with tender eyes.
“It’s perfect, Y/n.” He smiles, stroking his thumb over your cheek bone. “You could feed me Alpine’s food and i’d still bow at your feet, sweets.”
Now you’re the one blushing. You heart skips when Bucky’s eyes drop to your lips with hunger in his gaze.
“Always so good to me, aren’t ya?” His words tempt a whimper from deep within you, a submissive whine held back by the last of your restraint.
“Well-“
The oven beeps, its sharp tone darting between your bodies and making you step back from Bucky’s hold.
“Uhh” Your mind is all over the place as the firefighter watches you with amusement, “I- I should, I mean- the pasta must be-“
“Go, doll.” Bucky shakes his head laughing quietly.
Your dress sways as you spin away to the stove, stirring various pots and tidying up the counters. Your neighbour watches you in awe, unashamedly enjoying the view; you just look so goddamn sexy in that cute little dress while you cook for him. He wishes he could come home to this every night.
“You need a hand with anything, doll?” Bucky’s voice sounds from behind you.
“Actually, yeah!” You glance over your shoulder. “Come here.”
If you keep bossing him about, Bucky’s gonna struggle not to tear that sweet little sundress right off you.
Settling in at your side, Bucky cocks his head. “What d’ya need?”
You scoop some of the creamy tomato sauce onto a spoon and bring it to Bucky’s lips. “Try this for me.”
With bated breath, you watch his full lips wrap around the end of the spoon, his eyes bearing into yours as he drags the sauce into his mouth.
Bucky has no business looking as dirty as he does in this moment; you watch his adam’s apple bob as he swallows before his tongue juts out to catch a few missed drops. And just when you thought your panties would survive the sight, a moan ripples from his throat and you clench around nothing at the sound.
“Good?” You murmur, hoping he doesn’t notice when you cross your legs.
He notices.
“Delicious,” Bucky takes the spoon from your hand and stretches across you to place it back in the pan, his right hand brushing against the small of your back, “you did great, sweets.”
Fuck. Me.
You regather your composure and ask Bucky to get the wine from the fridge. He pours you both a glass, setting them back on the dining table gently before returning the bottle to its home.
“Hey, could you bring the bowls over, please?” You call over your shoulder.
You plate up the sauce coated pasta while Bucky places the dirty pans in the sink, both working around each other like a fine tuned machine.
Before you can do it yourself, Bucky is picking up the bowls and laying them on the place mats, winking at you as he does so. He pulls your chair out for you, nodding for you to join him.
“For you, Madame.” He jokes, allowing you to sit down while tucking you in.
You watch him round the table and take his own seat. “And they say chivalry is dead.”
Bucky grins at you. The orange glow of sunset shines through your windows, catching your features with grace. Your eyes shine beneath the light and Bucky can’t help but find you angelic.
“You’re beautiful, doll. I don’t know if I said that earlier but, god, you look stunning tonight.”
Dropping your head, you play with the hem of your dress shyly. Your hair falls into your face, forcing you to push it behind your ears, though Bucky wishes he was close enough to do it himself.
With rose tinted cheeks, you look up at Bucky through your lashes. “You say that to all your neighbours, Barnes?” You raise a brow with your teasing voice.
Bucky throws his head back and laughs heartily, a sound you’ve come to adore.
“Only the ones who cook for me.” He winks.
“Doesn’t Ms Scott bring you pies every couple weeks?”
“And I tell her she looks ravishing every time.”
You giggle and tell Bucky to dig in, though you could happily sit and talk all night. While you both stop every now and then for a forkful of food, conversation bounces between you as it always does.
Tonight isn’t much different to a typical evening with the firefighter next door; usually you share some snacks and beers, cozying up on the couch as you watch tv. It’s become ritual for you to send Bucky a video of you playing the piano each evening, his phone playing the video on loop as he sleeps. It’s strange, but the music creeps into his dreams and keeps them peaceful, keeps him away from that burning building.
It’s been a few weeks since the night he was sent home early. Both you and Bucky felt a shift that night; waking up in his arms left you craving more, though you’ve yet to tell him as much. You left him sleeping peacefully that morning when you left for work with only a couple hours of sleep under your belt.
Bucky hated waking up to find the other side of his bed empty, no longer feeling your heat. The note you left him eased the disappointment slightly, your neat handwriting promising to come back in your breaks. Neither of you have addressed how right it felt to sleep beside each other that night, despite spending all of your free time together with unspoken words hanging over you.
Instead, you dance around each other like two ghosts doomed to never touch. The bond between you is stronger than any you’ve ever had, the magnetic lure undeniable for you both.
Your glasses have been emptied and refilled twice now - dinner long since been finished - and you’re starting to feel the buzz; those butterflies in your stomach have turned into a swarm of confidence, your brain taking a backseat from its usual overthinking.
“You expect me to believe that you broke down the door before Sam could? The same guy who beat you at your physical a few weeks back?” You tease the brunette, a challenging brow raised at his rather unimpressed face.
“What are you trying to say there, doll?”
Bucky’s jaw clenches when you tilt your head slightly, eyes shining with amusement beneath the exposed hanging light bulbs.
“Nothing to worry your cute little head about.” You watch Bucky relax into his chair slightly as you reach for your glass with a smirk. “Just that I doubt Sam has any difficulty kicking a door down, not with the way he’s built.”
The scoff to end all scoffs ripples from your neighbours throat; his bright blue orbs glare into you and his features twist into a scowl. Oh if looks could kill…
Bucky’s tone is flat, “Didn’t know you were such an admirer of Wilson’s build, Y/n.”
The lack of a pet name sends your confidence wavering, but not enough to keep you from having a little fun.
“Well, you know,” You bring the glass to your lips, “he’s hardly difficult to miss.”
Watching the deep ruby liquid pass over your lips, Bucky fights to hide the fury that’s flooding his veins, forced to look away from your smug grin.
He knows, he knows, that you’re lying through your teeth, trying to get a rise out of his usually impenetrable facade, and yet he can’t help but feel jealous.
Bucky’s painfully aware that he has no right to feel so possessive, not when he lays no claim to you. But the twist of his stomach is proof that he doesn’t much care.
“Maybe I should just give you his number and you can cook him a meal next time.” Bucky grumbles.
“Oh, that’s alright, I already have his number.”
You’ve never seen Bucky’s head snap up as quickly as it just did, his gaze pinning you to your spot.
“You what?”
Gently, you place your glass back on the table. “Yeah, Steve gave him my number last week so he could get in touch.”
The fire in those blue eyes burns brighter with each word, his body so still that his chest is barely moving when he breathes. In fact, you’re not even sure if he is breathing. Hell, he’s not even sure if he’s breathing.
“Is that right?” Bucky’s gruff voice is laced with possessiveness, the low tone travelling straight to your panties till you swear you feel yourself throb. You wonder briefly if you have a jealousy kink and the sweet arousal dripping from your cunt only confirms your suspicions.
“Mhm.” You hum in response, “In fact, i’m going out for coffee with him next week.”
“Huh.”
Bucky’s chair screeches against the hardwood floor as he pushes himself back. You follow his movements with amused eyes when he stands up and grabs your plates before storming to the kitchen. You twist in your chair, watching him place the dishes in the sink and flick on the tap.
“James, what are you doing?” You ask.
“What does it look like i’m doing?” Oh he’s grumpy, grumpy.
Bucky’s shoulders are tense beneath his tight henley, his sleeves now rolled up as he starts scrubbing at the plates. It’s quiet while he concentrates on his work, only accompanied by the music still flowing from your speaker.
From the corner of his eye, the firefighter sees you rise from your chair, ears honed in on the sound of your feet pattering towards him.
It’s now hard for Bucky to focus on anything but your breath on his neck, goosebumps littered across his skin like a rash. You stand right behind him, tracing your fingers up from the small of his back; Bucky’s muscles tense momentarily before melting at your touch, just like always.
“Ask me why i’m seeing Sam next week.” You order, hands still roaming the taut fabric on Bucky’s back. The command makes him pause and clench his eyes shut. Why are you making him talk about this when it’s tearing him apart?
The brunette turns in your hold but you don’t release him, instead settling your hands on his waist.
“Why are you seeing him, doll?” Bucky sounds despondent, brows furrowed in confusion as he looks down at you.
“He asked me to teach his nephews to play the piano, Buck. I’m meeting him and the boys on Wednesday, Sarah too.”
A shocked ‘What’ tumbles from his lips as the information sinks in, his frown slowly falling away as he processes your words.
“Yeah…” You grin, though it’s more like a smirk, content with yourself proving he was jealous.
In a desperate attempt to save his ego, Bucky rolls his eyes playfully. “I knew you weren’t really attracted to that dumbass.”
You scoff and pat his chest lightly. “Sure you did, Barnes. Now scoot, you wash ‘em, i’ll dry ‘em.”
With his hands on his hips, he stays still as you nudge your way to his side, stretching to the window sill where your dish towels lay. Bucky’s never been in this position before, it’s always him who’s teasing you; this is new territory for him and it irks him that you riled him up so easily.
Once he shakes his head clear, the firefighter returns to face the sink and starts washing the dishes again. You wait patiently while he works, humming along to whichever song is playing.
“You like the old stuff, huh doll?” Bucky grins warmly at the slight sway of your hips, your radiance beaming like a lantern.
You giggle sheepishly and bite your lip, unknowingly sending Bucky spiralling. “I thought it was fitting for tonight, really leaning into the whole ‘housewife’ role.”
He raises a brow, “Does that make me your doting husband then, sweets?”
Realising what you said, your cheeks heat up instantly and your eyes widen. You attempt to backtrack but your words stumble over one another as though you’re a little school girl.
Bucky, however, is basking in the familiarity of control; your rosy cheeks never fail to bring a smile to his face, and boy is he beaming right now.
“I meant- It’s- You know what I meant, James.” You shoot daggers at him, though the idea of being married to your neighbour sends your heart into overdrive.
That swoon-worthy laugh greets your ears with haste, Bucky’s eyes crinkled at the corners as his chest reverberates with its force. It’s impossible to bite back the grin that’s fighting its way onto your lips.
Small tendrils of chestnut hair tumble from behind his ears, begging to be pushed back, but the buzz from the wine has dulled and you can’t find the confidence to do it, no matter how much Bucky’s eyes are pleading you to.
“You know, it’s sweet of you to teach the boys how to play.” He looks at you in adoration, the image of you spending time with Sam’s nephews triggering a warmth to spread in his chest.
A breathy laugh escapes you as your gaze falls to the kitchen counter. You blush at the compliment and slowly start drying the dishes again.
“Do you spend much time with them?” You ask with a brief glance his way.
Bucky shrugs, “Yeah, Sarah is always throwing barbecues for the squad. They’re good kids, and I bet they’ll love you!”
“Oh God, I hope so. I’ve never taught before and i’m scared they’ll hate me and i’ll destroy their dreams and-” You ramble away without noticing the frown tugging at your neighbours brows.
“Teach me.”
Huh?
“What?” You freeze.
“You said you’ve never taught before,” Bucky steps closer to you, his cologne swarming around you like a warm hug, “so practise on me. Teach me something.”
You almost laugh at his words, mind immediately jumping to the conclusion that he’s joking. But Bucky doesn’t move, his blue eyes study your own, body so still that you fail to conjure a laugh. He’s not joking.
Hesitation is written across your features, drawing a single shake of Bucky’s head. “Come on, sweets. Please? For me?” He pleads.
“Okay.”
It’s scary how quickly you succumb to Bucky’s wishes; you fear you’d do awful things if only he asked and you’d even do it with a smile. You’re so doomed.
With a triumphant grin, Bucky plucks the dish cloth and plate from your grasp and carefully places them on the sink’s edge, before taking your hand in his and guiding you to your piano.
Nerves prickling beneath your skin, you trail behind him and silently revel in his touch. It’s hard to not stare at his perfect body as you stumble around furniture, the sharp muscles of his shoulders rippling as he tugs you with him. Flicking off the speaker on the way, you fall onto the small piano stool beside Bucky, and with such little room, your left thigh is pressed up against his. The solid curve of his muscles prod into your flesh and yet despite the fluttering it causes in your stomach, you’re far more focused on his hands.
From the bulge of his toned biceps to the trail of prominent veins in his forearms, your eyes drag down Bucky’s arms till you pause at the sight of his large hands. They lay spread across the span of his thighs, his right pinky finger mere atoms away from your exposed skin where your dress has ridden up. You find yourself craving the sparks that alight with his touch, so you adjust your position to make sure your leg brushes against his hand.
It certainly hasn’t gone amiss to the firefighter that you’ve taken a liking to his hands. Sure, he’s caught you staring at them before, but the hunger in your gaze right now is greater than ever.
The corner of Bucky’s lip turns up into a smirk as he reaches for your hands once more, lifting them to rest on the ivory keys of your piano.
“Wanna hear you play me something before you give me a lesson.” He admits, his words more of a demand than a question.
When you fail to respond, still caught up in scanning the crevices of his calloused hands, Bucky nudges your shoulder.
You shake your head with a dazed frown, “Huh?”
A playful chuckle falls from his pink lips, “I said play me something, sweets, before you start teachin’ me.”
You giggle sheepishly, sighing an ‘Oh’ before you gather your thoughts. Bucky returns his hands to his lap - a movement you struggle to ignore - giving you free rein of the instrument.
Running through some songs you could teach him, you settle for one of your favourites, or more accurately, one of Bucky’s favourites. The cool surface of the keys is harsh beneath your fingertips, a stark contrast to the Bucky-induced-heat flushing through your veins, hands stretching into place as you prepare the opening chords.
Rhythmic tones swarm around the two of you as you begin playing, masterfully dancing across the keys like it’s a second language. Your graceful motions always bring Bucky to a halt as you entrap him in your art.
He recognises the song straight away, lips turning up at the sweet melody. You didn’t even have to ask to know what he wanted to hear, you just knew. Bucky’s head feels light at the sight before him. A knowing grin has settled on your soft lips, your body ever so lightly swaying to the music, clearly getting lost the sounds.
It’s impossible not to feel the adoring stare of your neighbour, no matter how hard you try to ignore it. Warmth is pooling in the depths of your heart where it feels like you’re bleeding out, your love for Bucky forcing out the blood till the only thing circulating through your veins is him. No longer able to cope with the feelings swarming within you, your fingers abruptly stop mid song before you turn to look up at the firefighter.
“Okay, your go.” You state, but when Bucky raises a bemused brow your way, you continue to instruct him. “Come on. You’re gonna do the left hand, I’ll do the right.”
“Yes Ma’am!” Bucky chimes with a mock salute, earning him a glare.
It takes a few tries to move his fingers into the correct positions, both because he’s apparently wholeheartedly incapable of doing what you say but also because you may or may not zone out every time the veins of his hands stick out as he moves. But it’s still entirely his fault though. Entirely. ‘Maybe like 98% his fault. That’s seems fair.’ You think.
“There you go!” You cheer when the firefighter successfully plays the right notes in tandem.
“Would you look at that, not so useless after all.” Bucky winks at you and you blush lightly.
Glancing at him hopefully, you ask him to play the first chord you taught him.
“Oh, umm-“ He stutters, fingers flailing about and pressing random keys in search of the right pattern.
“Here, let me…” You chuckle sweetly at how utterly lost he looks and move to help him.
Leaning forward, you drag Bucky’s fingers over the ridges of ivorite, slowly placing them on the correct keys. You feel his lust-filled eyes trained on your face while you work, though it’s getting harder and harder to focus under his stare.
A frown tugs at your brows when your mind goes blank as to where Bucky needs to put his left hand, his still-wandering gaze burning into you and spreading to your cunt faster than you care to admit.
Of course, Bucky notices your breath quickening, chest stumbling up and down with shaky pants. His proximity is intoxicating and the will to fight it is slowly slipping past you, fingers itching to trace up Bucky’s thick arms to his neck so you can finally pull his lips to yours.
Bucky reads every inch of your skin like he’s studying for an exam. From the clench of your jaw to your eyes fluttering shut, he knows that he’s winning this tussle for control.
“Bucky…” You breathe, the wavering sigh rolling from your tongue like a stray secret.
“Yes, doll?” Bucky smirks with glinting eyes and you bite back a whimper.
Opening your eyes, you keep them trained on where yours rest on his. “I can’t focus with you looking at me like that.”
Bucky knows exactly what you mean but he can’t help but toy with you. “Like what?” He cocks his head with faux innocence that fools no one.
You turn to look up at the firefighter, eyes meeting his half lidded ones, the blue of his eyes barely visible behind his lust-blown pupils but the blue you can see is so impossible dark that you wonder if they were ever light in the first place.
Taking a breath, you wet your lips so briefly that Bucky nearly misses it. Nearly. “Like you want to kiss me.” You say, barely above a whisper.
“Oh,” Bucky sighs, leaning in closer, “I want to do much more than that.”
Your body is alight with need. Craving his touch, a breach of the barrier between you, you practically whine your reply. “Then why are you just staring?”
“Well, I wanna remember you like this; sweet, angelic, so perfect in your little sundress.“
With the back of his hand, Bucky nudges the hem of your dress higher till his whole hand is spread against your thigh. You quash the aching desire to glance at where your bodies meet and lock your eyes on Bucky’s, whose lips are turned into a knowing smirk.
“Gotta savour it while I can.” He says as he pushes his palm further to your inner thigh, his pinky finger mere inches from your heat.
“Why?” You ask, heart racing.
It dawns on you that you may actually pass out when the firefighter leans in close to you, nose pushing your hair aside to expose the soft skin of your neck which now sits defenceless to his advances. The heat of his breath is electrifying, lips nearing your pulse point eagerly.
Bucky’s lips ghost over your skin as he explains, “Cause once I’ve had my way with you, you’re gonna be a hot fucking mess, sweets.”
A breathy moan tumbles from the depths of you chest at the crude insinuations of his words; your eyes flutter shut, an unintentional reaction that you’re grateful for as it hides the way your pupils roll to the back of your head.
Through the dark span of your eyelids, you picture exactly how Bucky will make you a hot fucking mess. Spread legs with his tongue delving through your folds, back arched as he pounds into your pussy with vigour, his hands guiding your hips back to meet his as he fucks you from behind. The images bear too much for you yet you can’t stop picturing the salacious scenes, not when your neighbour is pressing open-mouthed kisses to the side of your neck.
“James…” You sigh, voice carrying the weight of a thousand pleas.
“Yeah? Is that what you want?”
Nodding your head desperately, you whine, unable to form any words beneath his sinful tongue.
“Words, doll.” Bucky says, lips hovering over your ear. He’s struggling to hold back but can’t let himself touch you the way he wants to until he hears you spell it out for him.
Turning your head slowly, you peer at Bucky with half-lidded eyes and a slack-jaw. “I want you, James. Please.”
That’s all it takes to disintegrate the final remnants of the firefighter’s self-control before his full lips meet your own with a hunger that’s been brewing for months.
Bucky’s lips glide across yours, slotting between your own so easily it’s got you believing this is not your first kiss. It’s soft and sweet but so goddamn sensual that you can’t help but moan into his mouth, the now open gap giving him the perfect chance to slide his tongue inside.
You bring your hands up Bucky’s body and rest them on his neck, fingers tentatively feeding through the hair at the nape of his neck while you jostle for control of the kiss.
Forced to pull back for breath, you take a peek only to find those strikingly blue eyes already on yours.
“Fuck, doll,” Bucky whispers, “you don’t know how long I’ve been waitin’ for this.”
“Probably not as long as I have.” You scoff.
“Then let me make up for lost time.”
“Wait, what do y-“
Within moments, Bucky is lifting your legs over the bench and is knelt between them, his large hands teasing the hem of your dress as he keeps your thighs spread apart.
Your mouth is agape with surprise while you grab onto the piano behind you for stability, a mixture of nerves and anticipation coursing through your veins. And as if he can read your anxious thoughts, Bucky looks up at you with the most sincere expression across his soft features.
“Do you want me to stop?” He asks, despite the deep desire shining in his eyes. He wants you more than anything, but he needs to know you want him too.
It’s an easy answer and you’re shaking your head faster than you care to admit, but the memory of Bucky’s prior words flash through your mind and you still just as quick.
“No.”
Watching intently as he runs a hand from your ankle up to your knee, the firefighter rolls his bottom lip between his teeth when your breath hitches.
“Then promise me you’ll tell me if that changes?” Bucky asks.
You reach down and run your fingers through his chestnut locks, tucking the few loose strands behind his ear.
“I promise.”
“You’re gonna be the death of me, sweets.”
A hearty laugh reverberates through you, but you’re quickly silenced by Bucky’s lips on your inner thigh, eyes fluttering shut at the feeling. He kisses his way up to your heat, slowly pushing your dress higher and higher till the only thing between you and his mouth is the crimson lace panties covering your mound.
A sound you can only describe as a growl ripples through the room and you glance down at your neighbour to find him practically drooling at the sight of you. But then his eyes are on yours, his hungry, half-lidded eyes, and he’s tracing a finger over your clothed slit. Your breathing becomes laboured at his touch, your body, your mind, all of you at his mercy.
“Bucky, please…”
“Ah ah ah-“ The firefighter tuts, “-since when do you call me Bucky?”
You frown, back arching slightly in search of some friction on your core, too aroused to process his words properly.
“Look at me, Y/n.”
The stern nature of his tone lures your eyes to his once more. “What?” You ask, confused.
“I haven’t spent months goin’ crazy listening to you use my name only to have you call me Bucky when I’m finally between your legs.”
The throb of your pussy spurs you on and you tilt your head teasingly. “Touch me, James.” You say, and he obeys.
Bucky glides his hands up to your hips and drags your panties lower and lower, his lips chasing the lace till there’s no where left to kiss but your slick folds.
He hovers over your heat with bated breath before forcing himself to close his eyes and ask if you’re still okay with this.
“More than okay, James.” You answer truthfully.
“Good, cause I’m fucking starvin’.”
You feel his mouth on your pussy before you’ve even processed his words, tongue delving between your folds like he really is starving and you didn’t just feed him the best dinner he’s had in years. Though something tells him that title is about to be beaten the second you cum all over his face.
Your mouth curves into an ‘o’, the most pornographic of moans escaping you at the sinful sounds of Bucky’s mouth on your cunt. Drowning in increasingly intense waves of pleasure, your senses are dialled up to the max; with every flick of his tongue and suck on your clit, you find yourself falling deeper in your arousal. It becomes impossible to listen to anything Bucky’s telling you.
“Y’taste so sweet, doll.”
“Doing so good for me, aren’t ya? My good girl.”
“Let me hear you, doll, need to hear how good you feel.”
Whether it’s praises or orders, there’s no chance in hell of you understanding a word that falls from his lips, though Bucky doesn’t mind. The clench of your soft thighs around his head tells him all he needs to know - that even if your heads not fulling comprehending him, your body is. And the sheer amount of slick glistening across your cunt is enough for him to know that you’re ready for more.
The sensation of Bucky’s finger tracing along your pussy lips sends your eyes rolling to the back of your head and your hips lifting off the stool.
“James- oh fuck-“
Words die on your tongue when Bucky eases a finger inside you. White hot pleasure builds at your core, burning the last remnants of your self control, its embers coaxing a near-scream out of you.
“Fuck, that’s it, sweets. That’s- shit you’re so tight, pussy’s squeezing me and it’s just one finger.”
You mewl and squirm beneath him.
“How you gonna handle two of ‘em, doll?”
Bucky’s mesmerised at the sight of his finger gliding in and out of you, drenched in your sweet juices, too beautiful of a sight for him to give up by eating you out. But when you groan at the suggestion of two fingers, he drags his gaze upwards and is greeted with a view that’s evening better.
You, draped against the piano, head tilted back and brows drawn together while uneven sighs tumble from your swollen lips. God, you look heavenly, Bucky thinks. He doesn’t realise he’s said it out loud, but it makes little difference seeing as you’re rather preoccupied with the thought of Bucky fucking another finger inside you.
“James?” You call, reaching down to cover your left hand around the one at your sex, the other tugging on his hair.
“Yeah? Are you alright? Do you want me to stop?” He panics, thinking you’ve grabbed his hand to stop him.
Instead, you look him in the eye and say “Are you gunna fuck another finger inside of me or what?”
An awe-inspired grin spreads across Bucky’s face at your question. He keeps his blue orbs on yours while he presses a kiss to your clit and pushes himself higher till he’s inches from your face.
He rests a hand against the piano, caging you in and says, “Anything for my girl.” before a second digit joins his first.
The stretch knocks the wind out of your chest but Bucky hardly gives you any time to adjust, his fingers pumping in and out of you even faster than before. His palm slaps against your bundle of nerves with every thrust, the force riding to your chest where your tits bounce in rhythm.
“So damn beautiful…” The firefighter says.
You look up at him through your lashes and pull his lips to yours, tasting yourself on his tongue. With clashing teeth, the wet slapping sounds only feeds into the moment and Bucky’s suddenly very aware of the tightness in his jeans.
With each passing second, the cord in your stomach is getting so close to snapping that your mouth isn’t even moving against Bucky’s anymore.
“Fuck, James, I’m- I-“
“Shh, I know.” He presses a kiss to your forehead. “You gonna cum all over my fingers, doll? Gonna let me see you fall apart?”
You nod feverishly.
“Good girl, now let go for me.”
That’s all it takes for the damn to break loose and the fiercest orgasm of your life to rack through your body. It reaches every part of you, all the cracks and crevices you never thought could be touched, yet here you are, feeling every inch of yourself set on fire.
“That’s it, doll, that’s it.” Bucky comforts you while you lay victim to the aftershocks of his work, slowing the thrust of his fingers till your breathing evens and he moves to gently circling your sensitive clit.
“Holy shit…” You sigh, a satisfied and totally fucked-out grin playing across your lips.
Noticing how your hazy your eyes still are, Bucky smiles to himself while pressing loving kisses on your forehead.
“You did real good for me, sweetheart.” He listens to you hum beneath him as he moves to kiss your temple. “Y’look so pretty when you cum, you know that? Even prettier than I imagined.”
You twist in your seat to face your neighbour. “You’ve imagined this too?”
“Every night, doll.”
“Huh…”
Though Bucky’s eyes remain fixed on yours, it’s obvious that his mind has slipped away; he’s now clouded by memories of his x-rated dreams, ones that have ended with him pumping his embarrassingly hard length into his fist one too many times, and his cock twitches in his ever-tightening pants. You notice the movement at his crotch and, emboldened by his confession and the best orgasm you’ve ever had, you decide to take back some control.
“What have you pictured doing to me, James?” Your tone is so sweet, so innocent, that it takes a moment for your words to register in his brain. But when it does, boy, does a fresh wave of blood rush to his cock.
“You sure you wanna know? Cuz it ain’t all sweet and innocent.” He warns.
You say nothing and let your actions do all the talking; you slide a hand down to meet his left, the one still nestled between your sticky thighs, and tug it away from your cunt. With your eyes locked on his, you raise Bucky’s cum coated fingers to your mouth, slowly wrapping your lips around them and sucking your sweetness away. Making sure to give the firefighter a show, you swirl your tongue around his fingers before taking them as deep as you can, a knowing look in your eyes when you notice Bucky clenching his jaw.
After releasing his fingers from your swollen red lips, you press a kiss to the palm of his hand. “Tell me.”
What you can only describe as a growl rises from the back of Bucky’s throat and before you know it, you’re being carried to your bedroom, legs bound tightly around his waist while your arms wrap loosely around his neck.
He sits down on the edge of the bed; hands resting on your hips and edging lower to your ass, his fingers grip the supple flesh to keep you in place.
His force on your hips is pushing you down on his ample bulge, sparking a flash of pleasure straight up your spine that escapes you with a moan. Bucky chuckles softly with a sinful grin as you tilt your head back at the feeling.
“You wanna know what I’ve imagined us doing, doll?” The firefighter grabs your chin to bring your attention back to him. He runs the pad of his thumb over your bottom lip, tugging on it and letting it bounce back into place.
“I’ve pictured us just like this.” He drops his hand to your neck, tracing the curve of your collar bone till it meets the strap of your sundress. “You, naked and beautiful as ever, riding my cock like I know you can.”
You gasp lightly when he tugs your strap till it’s tumbling off your shoulder.
“And you’re telling me just how full you are, how stretched your little pussy is around me, choking my cock like a damn vice.”
Bucky’s filthy words send your hips into motion without warning; you grind your bare cunt over his crotch, the tent in his pants settling between your slick folds till his shaft is enveloped with your warmth.
“Does that sound good, doll? To have my cock buried inside you when you bounce on it? Fuck, I bet your cunt is dripping for me again,”
“It never stopped, James.” You whimper, your sensitive clit sending jolts up your frame as Bucky guides your hips over his.
“That’s right, you’re never gonna use anything else to cum ever again. You got me now, doll. I’m all you need. Me, my cock, I’m gonna ruin everyone else for you.”
You don’t even notice that Bucky’s hands are on the zip at your back, slowly pulling it down till the fabric are your chest goes slack, and with the straps already draped over your shoulders, the flowing material cascades around you, tumbling to your hips and leaving you defenseless to Bucky’s insatiable blue eyes.
“Fuck me, sweets, you’re- god- you’re perfect.” He leans in and kisses your collarbone. “So,” kiss, “So,” kiss, “perfect.”
Your eyes flutter shut, lost in the feeling of his touch, and Bucky smirks when he sees you. He teases a hand up your soft skin till it sits just beneath your tit, daring to reach up and play with you in the ways he’s always dreamt of.
“Is this okay?” He asks, earning an even more passionate grind of your hips as you push your chest closer to his open mouth.
He chuckles, “Needy, aren’t ya, sweets?”
You whine.
“Hmm, lucky for you, this is exactly what I imagined doing to you, what I’ve dreamt of for months…”
His lips wrap around your hardened nipple with haste, the warmth of his mouth a welcome sensation. He sucks at the sensitive nub, this tongue reaching out to soothe you afterwards. You throw your head back and moan loudly.
The sound of bucky loudly licking and sucking on your tits is driving you crazy, to the point where your hips are stuttering over his, practically drowning in the feeling till you have no control over your movements.
“God, I love your tits. Wanna act out every dream I’ve ever had of you. Fucking your tits, your throat, your cunt, anywhere you’ll let me, doll, please. I’ve needed you for so long.”
You blush at the word love, surpressing the hope that is stirring at the possibility that your tits aren’t the only thing he loves. Has he really wanted this as long as me? You wonder, picturing everything he just revealed he’s been wanting.
“M’So fuckin’ hard for you sweetheart, I know you can feel me. Dick’s throbbing, doll, it’s s’hard it hurts.”
You pull at his hair so he’s looking up at you again and capture his lips in yours.
“I wanna see you, Bucky…”
He groans and reaches for the hem of his shirt which he waists no time in tearing off. Your chest rises and falls heavier than before, eyes raking his physique just like you had that night he was leaving the shower at his place.
You trail a finger down his abs till it brushes the button of his jeans teasingly.
“All of you, James.” You look pointedly at his crotch. “May I?” You ask and when he nods, you climb off his lap and sink between his legs on the floor, you dress tumbling to the ground immediately.
Bucky’s abs tense as you work to undo the button, your hands tiny in comparison to his body. Next, you work the zipper up and over the bulge of his cock, the teeth desperate to come apart after being so constricted for so long. The two sides of denim snap away from the tent of his boxers, perfectly presenting where the firefighter so badly needs your touch.
He helps you kick off his jeans till the only thing between you is his boxers. You trace a finger up and down his shaft through the cotton, enjoying the sticky patch of pre cum leaking through the top.
“Have you ever imagined me sucking your cock, James?” You ask with half lidded eyes before kissing his covered shaft. “Cause I have.”
Bucky whimpers - whimpers - at your words, his hips snapping up to your face uncontrollably.
You begin to drag down his boxers, trailing kisses down down down, your lips greeting his tip when his cock flicks up against them before your eyes even get chance to glance at him.
Your eyes flutter shut at the salty taste on your lips, revelling in the breathy moans from your neighbour.
“Fuck- pl-please honey, I need your- argh- mouth around me!”
You make eye contact with him from your place on the floor and ask if he’s sure.
“More than anything.”
And with that, you take his thick length into your mouth, lips sealing around his angry pink cock head briefly when your trace your tongue over his slit, before gliding lower down his cock.
You take as much of him as you can, but you need time to warm up having never taken a cock as large as his before.
“You’re so big, baby.” You say as you pull off his shaft with a pop, “Biggest I’ve ever had in my mouth.”
A frustrated groan arises from the firefighter and you feel his hand on the back of your head, gently pushing you to his dick once more.
“Suck my cock, doll, just like we’ve both imagined, nice and deep, please.”
You take the base of his cock in your hands and guide his tip back to your lips.
“Atta girl,” Bucky encourages as you take him deeper and deeper.
He feels you relaxing your throat to take more of him and his balls clench at the feeling.
“Argh fuck, fuck, fuck. Good girl, oh my god, yes!”
His praises and curses cheer you on and you manage as much of him as you can, only an inch or so remaining that’s simply too thick to fit in your mouth. Lord knows how he’ll fit in your pussy, but you’re sure he’ll figure it out.
You bob your head on his length over and over till you’re in desperate need of air. You let your hands work your spit and his precum up and down his hard cock while you catch your breath and watch his beautiful face contort into one of extreme pleasure.
Your chest fills with pride at Bucky’s facial expressions; making him feel good is somehow more rewarding than anything you’ve done in your life and you find yourself content at the thought of spending the rest of your days pleasing him.
Bucky is oblivious to the gratified smile toying your lips and wholly unprepared for your next movement.
“Oh god- oh fuck, doll-” He groans, his breathing staggered and eyes clenched shut when you take his balls in your mouth, the skin sloppily wet from your work on his cock, and now enjoying the warmth of your mouth.
“Oh honey, do that again, felt so go- argh!” He’s interrupted by you tending to his sack once more, your tongue swirling around them and lightly sucking.
You moan around his pretty, swollen balls, the vibrations drawing a sigh of pleasure from your neighbour. The trimmed hair at the base of Bucky’s member is tickling your nose while you fight to taste every part of him.
With a final sharp suck, you release his balls with a small plop, plant a wet kiss on each and flatten you tongue to lick a bold stripe up his length. The tip of your muscle presses into the vein on the underside of his dick and Bucky thrusts upward, his hips bucking as he desperately searches for more.
As you ready yourself to glide his cock down your throat once more, you feel Bucky’s hand on your cheek, pulling you off him.
“What’s wrong? Did I do something?” You ask with a concerned frown, nervous that you’ve done something wrong to have Bucky stopping you. You wrap your hand around his forearm, the one outstretched to hold your hair, while the other remains enclosed around his cock.
“Nothin’ bad, sweets, it’s just that- fuck-“
You absentmindedly stroke your thumb over his girth, a motion you intend to be comforting but in reality, it just makes him throb even harder in your hands.
“-I’m not gonna last much longer if you keep using your pretty mouth like that.”
“And that’s a problem because…?”
He laughs lightly and tucks your hair behind your ear. “Cause as hot as you’d look swallowing my load, I’d much rather cum inside that sweet pussy for our first time.”
You roll your bottom lip between your teeth before pecking a doting kiss to his forearm and letting Bucky pull you to your feet. His eyes follow yours till he’s looking up at you from his seated position, his hands falling to your hips with an awestruck face.
“What the hell did I do to deserve you?” His voice is barely above a whisper. You blush crimson.
“Get on the bed, doll.” He orders. “Lay on your back.”
You do as he says and once you’ve settled, he crawls on top of you. It’s quiet for a moment as Bucky stares lovingly down at you, burning the image into his memory to remind him he has everything he needs.
“I should have found the guts to do this months ago…” You murmur, pushing the fallen tendrils of chestnut hair behind his ear. He looks so goddamn perfect; the golden glow filtering through your window catching every feature you’ve spent so long dreaming about, and now he’s here, really here, and you can’t help but stroke his cheek with revere.
“We have now, doll. That’s enough for me.” Bucky whispers. “Are you comfortable?”
You nod, truthfully, both in terms of your position but also for what’s coming. But then his elbows bend out and he’s lowering himself onto you.
“How about now?”
There’s a gleam in his eye and a playful smirk on his lips as he watches your chest heave, your body taking more of his weight now.
“No!” You giggle.
“No? Is this better?” Bucky teases, briefly laying his whole weight over you until you paw at his shoulders to push him off.
“James! You’re squishing me!”
The melody of your carefree laughter has Bucky melting and he pushes himself up onto his hands once more. His lip is tucked between his teeth, enjoying the view as he becomes increasingly aware of his cock now just one slip away from your pussy lips.
Quickly coming to your own awareness of Bucky’s rock hard length pressing into you, you sober up.
“Darling?” You tug on his bottom lip with the pad of your thumb.
Bucky’s brows pinch closer slightly.
“I need you inside me.”
His soft lips are crashing against yours within moments, his hand fighting between the nonexistent space between your bare bodies to grasp his cock and guide his tip to your bundle of nerves.
The sudden taste of how good Bucky can make you feel forces a sharp breath from you. It’s so much yet not enough, all at the same time.
“Tell me if you need me to stop, okay? Let me take care of you how you deserve.”
After a meek nod with your hands finding refuge in Bucky’s soft locks, he trails his cock head down your pink folds till it catches on the dip of your entrance.
Bucky tempts a whimper from you as he slides inside of you, your walls stretching to accommodate his larger than average member.
“Fuck, doll, you’re so tight for me.” The firefighter moans, resisting the urge to snap his hips and bottom out completely.
You’ve yet to make a sound, the sting in your pussy not yet dissipating, and when you glance down at where your bodies meet, you realise you’re barely taking half of him.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Bucky’s reassuring voice is ghosting over your ear, “you’re taking me so well, sweets. You need me to go slower?”
You clench your eyes shut briefly, “No, keep going, you’re just so…”
“So what?”
Bucky watches a deep red creep up your neck before returning his gaze to your eyes, that now dance across the room avoiding him.
A gentle grasp on your chin draws you to face the breathtaking man above you and you clench around his dick.
“What happened to the little minx who was practically beggin’ me to fuck her, huh? Don’t get all shy on me now, dollface. I’m so what?”
His words have you spilling yours without second thought. “You’re so fucking thick, James, cock’s splittin’ me in half.”
He groans and snaps his hips fully into yours, making you scream out, “Jamie!!!”
His scalp burns when you pull on his hair harder than before, your moans filling the room like a broken record. Bucky should be focused on the furrow of your brow, your laboured breaths, the way your cunt is choking him, anything about how perfect this feels, but all he can focus on is how with one thrust, you called him ‘Jamie’. And you didn’t just say it, you screamed it.
“Shit, honey, say it again.”
“Ja-Jamie…” You whine and feel Bucky draw his hips back before pounding into you once more.
“Again.” Your neighbour growls.
“Oh my god, fuck- I”
“Again.”
It takes everything you have to open your eyes and look at him. “Fuck me, Jamie.”
“That’s my girl.”
Bucky drives his length into you till his tip is hitting your cervix, the pleasure wrapping around your throat and squeezing the air out of you. You fight to breathe as Bucky drills into you, over and over, softly grunting with every thrust.
“Never felt anything as good as your cunt before, doll. Wanna spend the rest of my life buried inside you.”
You pull his lips to yours and, back arching from the mattress, dive your tongue into his mouth with vigour. He lets you explore his mouth while fucking you deep and fast, the headboard of your bed slamming against the wall and probably driving your neighbour crazy. Oh wait, he is your neighbour, and it is driving him crazy, but in the best way imaginable.
“So goddamn tight, sweets, y’pussy was made for me,” He swallows your whimpers happily, “don’t you think? You feel how good i’m filling you up, honey? Sliding in an’ out so easy, you’re so fucking wet for my dick.”
“Harder, Jamie.”
Goddamn.
“Keep calling me that and I’ll do whatever you want.”
You lose yourself in his thrusts; the sting has long turned into the most pleasure you’ve ever felt, and that’s saying something after the orgasm he lulled from you only a few minutes ago.
“Fuckin’ me s-so good, Jamie.”
“Ah- just like that, baby.”
“I’m getting close, James, need you to go faster.”
Your pleas send Bucky’s cock pulsing and he does exactly as you wish. He fucks you faster, fighting off the desperate urge to cum inside your sweet cunt.
“Jamie…” You sigh.
He grins up at you from his place at your tits, his tongue reaching out to tease your nipples. You push his head down till he takes your sensitive bud in his mouth, sucking and swirling his tongue over it while he gropes its twin.
The tight coil in your stomach is twisting to its limit and you find yourself dangerously close to cumming around Bucky’s hard, thick length.
“I’m so- oh fuck- i’m so close, James.”
He lifts his head and eyes you with lust blown pupils.
“Are you gonna cum for me, doll? God, I can feel you clenching around me, you wanna cream all over my cock? Huh?” He smirks at your pornographic moans. “Bet I’ll look so good covered in your cum, sweets, maybe I’ll let you clean me up, put that mouth to good use.”
“I’m gonna cum, i’m gonna cum,” You chant several times breathlessly.
“Let go for me, sweet girl, make a mess o’my cock. Cum, doll.”
Your body shudders as your hips grind up into Bucky’s, your walls tightening before he feels you gush around him. Practically screaming in pleasure, you bite down on Bucky’s shoulder to quiet yourself, though the pain travels straight to his member, still fucking into you with force.
“Fuck, James, you’re so perfect, never came so hard in my life- shit-“
He’s groaning into your ear, his balls slamming against you and filling the room with salacious wet slaps.
“You’re so wet and- fuck- I can’t- I can’t hold back much longer.”
You tug on the hair at the nape of his neck and lick up the side of his throat, tongue catching the salty beads of sweat in its path. Reaching his earlobe, you suck on it lightly and whisper into his ear.
“Want you to cum inside me, Jamie. Fill me up, please, I need your cum.”
“Argh, fuck!!” Your words send Bucky over the edge and his hips stutter while he finally lets go.
“Oh god, yes!” Bucky grunts. “Take my cum, doll, fuckin’ take it.”
Your tongue seeks his neck once more, pressing open mouthed kisses as his cock shoots streams of white seed into you, the spurts seemingly never ending.
“Fillin’ my cunt so much, Jamie- fuck- you feel so good!”
As his cock softens, his thrusts slow to a more bearable pace, both of you so sensitive from your orgasms. Catching your breath takes a minute or two, but in the meantime, you coax satisfied sighs from your firefighter by running your hands up and down his back; the light sheen of sweat greets your fingertips as you touch him tenderly.
With no words being shared, you focus solely on Bucky’s breathing, the rise and fall of his back beneath your hands and the weight of his body on yours. It should be uncomfortable, but you’ve never felt so at home in a place, let alone with a person, in your life.
“That was…” Bucky murmurs into your neck.
You finish his sentence, “Pretty damn good.” Laughter ripples through the muscles of his back.
“Yeah,” He agrees and pulls back slightly to look at you, “you feeling okay?”
“If by okay you mean ‘completely and utterly fucked out’ then yeah, I’m great.”
You grin cheekily before pushing his hair behind his ear yet again, an act you find yourself praying that you’ll get to do for the rest of your life.
“How are you feeling?” You ask sincerely.
Those blue orbs flick between your own, laced with an emotion you hope to be love. “Like I want to be with you like this forever.” Bucky admits. “That and completely and utterly fucked out.”
You laugh heartily, bringing a beaming smile to Bucky’s swollen red lips.
“Let me clean you up, doll.” He offers before pushing himself off you, much to your dismay. He disappears to your bathroom for a minute before returning with a damp cloth in hand.
“Can you spread your legs for me, sweets?”
He bites a chuckle at how quickly you obey him and gets to work, wiping away your shared cum from your pussy and goosebump-ridden thighs. The towel is warm and soft on your skin, lulling you to sleep, though you fight to keep your eyes on your neighbour.
“You’re so beautiful, James.” You say, reaching to place your hand on his that sits beside you hip, where he’s leaning his weight.
He smiles sheepishly and focuses on the job at hand. Once you’re clean, Bucky carries you to the bathroom so you can do your business, waiting patiently outside after putting his boxers back on and grabbing his henley for you to wear.
When you step out of the bathroom, Bucky’s holding his he let out in front of you. “You looked a bit cold so I thought you might want a shirt?”
You smile, “Your shirt?”
“Yeah…” He rubs the back of his neck, muscles flexing at the movement, “You don’t have to, I just thou-“
He stops talking when you pull the henley from his grasp and tug it over your head. It swallows you whole and the sleeves tumble past your hands, but Bucky thinks it’s perfect. You’re perfect.
Grabbing his hand, you pull him back to your room and back into bed, tugging the sheets over you both where you nestle into his chest.
“You’re staying, right?” You ask with the most puppy-dog eyes you can muster.
“Of course, doll.”
Smiling to yourself, you curl up against the firefighter. “Woulda cooked you a meal months ago if I knew that’s all it took for you to finally fuck me.”

♡ babysitter

You've heard a lot about him from Abby, mainly bits and pieces that she's told you, but nothing really about him and the only thing he really says to you is that he's eventually going to pay you back. But you always refuse.
The old couch squeaks softly as he sits beside you, a gentle hand goes to reach your face but hesitates.
He’s been very busy for a while now that he has started his new job at a security guard that was shut down ages ago. When he comes home he's always so tired, like he's a different person. As if he cannot relax. You hear the door open and slam back as it he closes it.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't hear you come back.." You whisper, groaning whilst you move out of the position you had been in for a while. Yawning as you gently wipe your eyes.
Mike looks at you, half-smiling as he leans against the cushions. He's tired, you can tell. "Sorry if I woke you, you looked exhausted, so I just wanted to cover you," he whispers back, stretching his arms. "Did Abby go okay for you?" he asks.
"I told her it's bedtime an hour ago, but you know how it is with little ones." You joke.
"Abby was great, she missed you, though.." You smile sheepishly, shifting on the coach to face him. "How was work?" You ask, seeing the slight bags under his eyes.
Mike chuckles softly, leaning his head back and letting out a deep sigh as he stares up at the ceiling.
"It was long," he sighs. "I mean, I've gotten used to it, of course, but god, it's draining..." He leans forward and rests his elbows on his knees, looking off to the side and fiddling with his fingers, trying to find the right words to explain what just happened at work. He seems hesitant to say.
"You okay? You can talk to me if something is bothering you." Hesitantly placing your hand on his shoulder, slowly forcing him to look at you. You've known him for years due to babysitting Abby, but he's never opened up.
"Well... it's just..." Mike sighs again, still not meeting your eyes. "...Abby asked me some questions about stuff today."
He rubs the back of his neck, shifting in his seat as if he's about to say something and then thinks better of it. He leans back against the coach, letting out a frustrated grunt as his eyebrows pinch in frustration. "I... I just can't tell her."
"Is there anything I can do to help?" You whisper, staring at him, waiting for a response.
Mike's face softens a little, looking over at you before he sighs, shaking his head. "It's nothing. Abby asked about the job, and... well, it got me thinking..." He shrugs his shoulders again, still looking off to the side.
"Look, I'll tell Abby about it myself, I don't... I shouldn't put it on you..." He sighs one again, staring at the floor.
"If you need me, don't hesitate." You place your hand on his thigh, squeezing it for reassurance. Gaining confidence, you slowly move your body off the couch and sit on his lap.
"Oh..." Mike says quietly, his face turning bright red as you place your hand on his thigh. He looks down at you, his expression of uncertainty on his face changing as his eyebrows rise.
He's speechless, frozen in shock at your touch, and his entire face is practically bright pink. He's suddenly a lot warmer, his chest heaving as his heartbeat picks up speed. "... Y- you're..." he says with the last of his breath, his brain having trouble finding the right words to say.
"Is this okay..?" You grind against his lap, whispering against his ear.
"Shit..." He stammers, his brain desperately trying to process what you're doing. He looks confused, his eyes drifting down to you as his mind races.
"What... what are you... n- no, it's... we can't..." Mike stutters, trying to find a way to reject you. But the longer you're in his lap, the harder it is for him to say no.
"Just relax, Abby is fast asleep in her room.." You grind harder against him, using your index finger to tilt his chin up, making eye contact when you suddenly hear him whimper.
"T- this isn't the time..." he mumbles in response, his eyes closing at the sensation and his whimpers becoming more noticeable.
"W- we shouldn't be doing this..." he whispers, his arms hesitating in the air for a moment before they eventually wrap around your waist. He's still torn between going along with it or saying no, his heart racing as he gazes at you.
"Beg for me to continue." You stop moving your hips, feeling his arousal throb against your ass. Wanting to see how he would react.
"P- please... God.." he whispers, the breath catching in his throat and his voice turning raspy.
He looks at you, his eyes pleading, his body quivering under your control. His heart is pounding out of his chest. He swallows, looking up at you as his entire body screams for you to keep going while his mind fights back.
"You can do better than that.." You tease, breathing against his neck, gently creating bruises as you feel his slightly breath hitch.
Mike whimpers loudly when he feels your bites, his muscles tensing as he tries to relax.
"H- I- please, don't stop..." he murmurs hoarsely, sounding completely different than you've ever heard before. He whimpers again, his head tilted back as he tries to hide the pleasure in his face. He can't believe what he's doing, but he can't turn away.
"Good boy.." Slowly reaching to take off your top, revealing your covered breasts as you start to grind against him, pushing your panties to the side, creating a wet spot on his jeans.
Mike looks down at you, taking in the view as your top is removed, his face getting even pinker as his heart races.
He swallows nervously in response to your wetness, his eyes trailing down your body before they eventually turn back to your face. His cheeks are bright red, his breathing heavy as he glances back down at you, looking into your eyes as you look into his. He takes a long, drawn-out breath, his entire body quivering with anticipation.
"Just take what you want, Mike, no one is stopping you.." You tease, eagerly watching his reaction.
"I- it's..." Mike starts to say, but he can't say no to you, not right now. He leans back, pushing himself deeper into you like he can't help himself, the breath catching in his throat as he takes in the sensation. His eyes are closed as he tries to ignore his own morals.
His eyes snap open, his lips parted as he whispers, "More.."
"You close?" Whispering seductively, moving harder as you feel your climax coming fast.
"Oh, god..." Mike breathes out, his face red, and his eyes roll back into his head. He moans, bucking his hips up against you, feeling himself come close to release as he cums in his pants, feeling you come down from your high.

"No way he really did all that ?" Your 15 year old daughter gasped at your revelation.
"Yeah!" you laughed, shaking your head. "Then he started throwing out all these shitty excuses men come up with when they’re desperate."
She blinked, leaning in. "I bet he was."
You smirked.
"Oh he truly was, so I just stared at him and I was like ‘why are you so obsessed with me?’"

The Hogwarts Whisper
Okay, guys, grab your wands because this tea is spilling. Our sources have definitely spotted Mattheo Riddle, yes THE Mattheo Riddle, son of Voldemort and the absolute hottest guy at Hogwarts (Professor McGonagall, we know you’re not exactly a fan, but we see you), with none other than the new girl in the three broomsticks. Is this the start of a new Hogwarts couple? We’re not saying they’re a thing... but it’s looking suspiciously like it.
But wait, things are getting spicy ! Another source of ours claims she saw them in the restricted section of the library, right next to the Dark Arts aisle, sharing a kiss that was so passionate, even Ron Weasley would have dropped his Chocolate Frog. Now, we have to ask, is Riddle trying to tip her over to the Dark Side? He didn’t exactly confirm or deny it, but what we do know is that he definitely tipped her over to his bed… No, we don’t mean in a metaphorical sense–
Your heart dropped.
What the fuck ?
You turned to your new friend, Luna Lovegood, who sat next to you in the Ravenclaw table. The paper was still in your hand and you gestured to it.
"I’m going to have a panic attack Luna. What is that ?"
It was supposed to be a quiet morning.
You had just sat down at breakfast, half-asleep, your toast untouched, when the shriek came from the other end of the Ravenclaw table.
"Oh. My. God. You’re on the cover."
You blinked. "Huh?"
Before you could even react, a copy of The Hogwarts Whisper was slammed onto the table in front of you. The glossy, overly dramatic headline screamed back at you:
“Mattheo Riddle Caught Locking Lips With Mysterious New Girl in Restricted Section.”
Your face went up in flames. It couldn’t be you right ? But your name was clearly mentioned in the paper.
"No. This is insane. I didn’t—I’ve never—"
But no one was listening. Everyone had turned to look at you. Eyes widened.
Whispers buzzed across the hall louder than enchanted howlers. You could see girls glaring, a few Ravenclaws snickering, and somewhere down the table, someone gasped. Dramatically.
"Merlin’s beard," you muttered, flipping the page. It got worse.
One source claims they heard moaning next to the Dark Arts aisle. Another says she’s been under a Love Potion. Which, let’s be honest, is very on-brand for someone who wears last season’s robes.
You slammed the magazine shut and turned to your friends. "Who wrote this? Who let this get published?"
Cho mumbled, "It’s anonymous. Probably that nosy third year Hufflepuff-"
"I wasn’t in the library yesterday ! I wasn’t even near the restricted section! I was in the common room, writing a stupid essay on wand theory!"
Your voice cracked, slightly hysterical now. Your hands came to rest on top of your eyes. You breathing was shallow as you tried to keep your calm, trying to think about what could’ve gone wrong.
You’ve transferred from Ilvermony a month ago. Hogwarts was supposed to be a new start for you after what happened there. You were bullied, relentlessly. Whispers behind your back that turned into cruel jokes in the hallways. Spells cast when professors weren’t looking. Your wand yanked from your hand mid-duel, your belongings hexed to humiliate you, your name always twisted into something meaner.
No one ever really stepped in. Not the teachers, not your so called friends. By the end, you stopped trying to defend yourself. You stopped speaking in class. You stopped looking people in the eye.
So when your parents offered the transfer to Hogwarts, you didn’t hesitate.
"Well actually, it could be Riddle." Luna interrupted your thoughts. You stared at her in question and she continued. "It says here that he confirmed that you guys slept together. It’s quite explicit."
"How could he do this ?" You wondered out loud. "Why would he say things like that ?"
"Tell that to them." Cho hummed towards the Slytherin table where a group–including Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Theodore Malfoy and Lorenzo Berkshire– was sat. They were also checking the journal, although they seemed amused by what was written. Obviously they would be.
Riddle was part of their friend group. It made them laugh to hear about another one of his conquest being publicly outed. You looked back at the journal. The guy even had the nerve to give a personal interview. You felt outraged.
When Mattheo Riddle arrived in the Great Hall, he was oblivious to the commotion happening. He sat next to his friends, thinking about his next potion class.
"Long night ?" Theodore questioned, a smirk on his face. He just rolled his eyes in response.
"Bugger off." He grabbed a spoonful of scrambled eggs and poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice. Something felt weird. When he raised his head, he saw all his friends staring at him expectantly, a big smile on their face. "Okay are you gonna tell what’s happening now ?" He dropped his spoon on the table, folding his arms against his chest.
"Aren’t you gonna read the news ?" Pansy smirked handing his a piece of journal. He stared at it confused, dread forming in his chest. What did his father do again ? At this point he was expecting a handful of things.
But what he truly was not expecting, it was to see his name on the paper. He read the headline once, twice. He frowned.
His eyes scanned the paper, widening each time he read the most blatant bullshit ever written on a paper. He quickly slammed it on the table, eyes wide open in horror as if traumatised.
"What was that ?" He looked around at his friends, who seemed to have witnessed the best entertainment of this year so far. "I’ve never seen this much bullshit written about me and trust me, I’ve read a lot of shit by the Rita Skeatcher."
"Come on, don’t act oblivious. You wrote this."
"I did not." He felt offended that people, let alone his friends would think he would engage in something as irrelevant as gossiping. Mattheo did not have the time for this. People already knew he could pull, why brag about it through a paper ? "This is an obvious piss-take. I would never say this." He gestured to the paper.
"Good point." Blaise nodded.
His thoughts seemed to clear a bit and that’s when he realised. His head snapped up, and he looked around scanning the Hall, looking for you. You were sat with your friends, furious he noticed. Obviously you would be.
When you felt eyes on you, you automatically turned your head toward his table, locking eyes. Your frown immediately deepened and you flipped him off, with both your hands. Childish, he pointed out.
You then stood up, aggressively and walked out of the Hall. Draco, who was the only one who noticed this interaction snorted on his food. Yes, Draco Malfoy snorting.
"Good job cousin."
Mattheo rolled his eyes. Standing up walking towards the entrance. After having done four strides, he immediately turned, walking back to his friends.
"Please find who wrote this and delete that shit." And without waiting for an answer he turned back, speeding to catch up with you.
"Hum… who’s gonna break it to him?" Pansy muttered.
"It was your idea. You assume the consequences." Blaise huffed.
"What ?" Lorenzo, Draco and Theodore stared at the two of them, confused.
"Pansy had this great idea to ruin Mattheo’s reputation after he pranked her. You know when he turned her hair yellow neon."
"You actually helped me write this, you hypocrite !" Pansy defended herself. Blaise simply shrugged at that.
"I don’t think it’s even possible to ruin his reputation at this point there is nothing to ruin." Enzo deadpanned.
"Hey I was desperate. We each have our own reasons to hold a grudge against Riddle…" Pansy muttered. "But I didn’t think he would get this." She paused, searching for the correct word. "Agitated ?"
"Well about that…"
You were strolling to your dorm. You needed to get your books before the first period started, that is if you even considered going. Your feet met the concrete floor with a loud thud, each step a confirmation of how furious you were.
You heard from behind quick paces. You curiously turned your head and to your own displeasure you saw the person you last wanted to talk to. Mattheo Riddle, with his hair all disheveled was trying to catch up with you. And he definitely seemed out of breath. Probably his smoking, you thought.
You rolled your eyes quickening your pace.
"Hey please." You heard him call out. Still you ignored him. You were nearly running now, running away from him as he chased you. The situation was dramatic, a bit comical from an external point of vue. But you really wanted to get away from him. You were nearly there. You could see the Ravenclaw’s common room’s door right in front of you.
It’s when you felt his hand on your shoulder that you suddenly flinched and stopped right on your track.
"Don’t touch me you dirty ass rag." He looked taken aback by your sudden outburst.
"I-"
"No you don’t get to fucking talk. You fucking humiliated me. And for what ? A good laugh ? Why would you sqy shit like and lie about us having sex ?"
"I never said this. Please just listen to me-" He nearly begged but you cut him off.
You did not care about him. You definitely did not sign up for this bullshit when you arrived. Having to deal with a guy was one of the last things you wanted to do.
"No I won’t. I know how men like you are. Pathetic. I’ll leave you to your miserable life. Continue bragging about getting me in your bed, it’ll make you look obsessed if it didn’t already."
You walk towards the door of your common room, thankful for the suspiciously great timing of the first year opening door at this right moment. You definitely didn’t feel like solving a riddle while trying to get away from Mattheo Riddle (pun not intended). The student awkwardly smiled at you, not meeting your gaze and you guessed that he probably heard your conversation.
Oh well. Something new to gossip about.
"I’ll fix this !" You heard his muffled voice, after closing the common room door.
Asshole.
Once you were settled on your bed, you decided that skipping your morning classes wouldn’t be that bad of an idea. You had advanced potions and you were prepared enough for your NEWT’s that skipping that one class wouldn’t hurt. You glanced at the paper on top of your roommate’s night table, The Hogwarts Whisper. On the front page, a very realistic picture of Mattheo Riddle kissing someone (that looked very similar to you) against a bookshelf. You did not take the time to properly look at it this morning, but watching it more carefully you realise that it’s not even you on the moving picture .
You crumble the piece of paper between your hands before igniting it with your wand. This was humiliating. You would never admit it but you truly fell for his charms. Back on the first day.
"Hi." You walked reluctantly towards the boy sitting alone in the Hallway. You were lost. Again. It was the third time and it was only the first hour of your first day at Hogwarts. The boy raised his head, his cigarette not moving from his mouth and he just waited for you to continue talking. "Do you know where the potions classroom is ? It’s my next class and I don’t really know my way around here. I would have tried looking for it myself but I’m a bit late. And well I have this map but it’s hard to–"
"It’s just here." He cut you off pointing to the door behind you.
"Oh." You mumbled embarrassed, looking at the ground. You felt your face flushing. "Mmh…Thank you, I guess ?"
You quickly turned around knocking once on the door. Without waiting for an answer you opened the door, too embarrassed to be one more second around the boy. You apologised to the professor and found a place in the back of the room.
As if the universe was against you, the classroom door opened to reveal the same boy who had been sitting smoking just a few minutes ago.
"I’m sorry Professor Slughorn. I woke up a bit late."
"Come come, m’boy." The professor waved him off, returning to his lecture.
Misfortunately for you, the boy obviously sat next to you. Out of all the empty places around you. You turned to him and saw that he didn’t even pay you attention.
"You did not."
"Excuse me ?"
"Wake up late– I mean that’s not the reason why you’re late."
"Wow you truly are clever." He answered sarcasm dripping from his voice. "I bet you’re in Ravenclaw right ?" He smirked.
"You see my tie colour." You deadpanned.
"I’m colour blind."
"No you’re not."
"How would you know. Do you know me ?" He asked challenging you.
"No, but colour blinding is a condition that affects only 4.5 per cent of the population, population that is, may I add, muggle. It does not affect wizards whatsoever."
"So Ravenclaw ?" His smirk was still present or his face, although it softened a little bit.
"What’s your name ?"
"Mattheo."
"Mattheo what ?" He frowned at that. Did you really not know who he was ?
"Riddle ?" He said but it sounded more like a question.
"No, no riddle just tell me."
"It’s Mattheo Riddle." He huffed exasperatedly.
"Oh okay, sorry."
After this, he volunteered to show you around the castle. You both hit it off pretty well. He spent three hours explaining every thing you needed to know to be able to guide your way around. He made a few jokes here and there making you laugh, and you always wittily retorted back which, as hard as he tried to conceal it, made him laugh too. Eventually, you both started talking about your personal life, sharing deep thoughts you’ve each never told anyone before. You’ve known each other for just a few hours really but it felt like you could both trust each other. It had been just a few days. But in the span of them you felt like he was your first friend, and somehow you were also the first person he truly appreciated.
Until that stupid paper.
"You should come to the party." Cho cut your thoughts.
You didn’t bother going for lunch nor for dinner. Your roommates have been kind enough to bring you something to eat, just a piece of bread with cheese and two blueberry tarts. This small gesture warmed your hearts and you thanked them although you weren’t very hungry.
They were now dressing up for the Hufflepuff quidditch victory party against Gryffindor. You were told Hufflepuff threw the best parties and although you wanted to figure it out for yourself, you did not feel like showing up your face ever again.
"Arghh… No I’m never setting feet out of this room." You retorted, your face deep in your pillow.
"This will be so much fun, you have to come please." Padma, another one of your roommates, tried convincing you.
You smiled apologetically at them. You truly appreciated how they wanted you to feel included but you genuinely didn’t want to party. They understood and after a few minutes they left the room leaving you alone. Or that’s what you thought.
"Your head is surrounded by nargles." You flinched at the sound of her voice. She took off the originally shaped glasses she was wearing, and stared at you. "Is something bothering you ?"
"I mean other than what happened this morning…"
"Oh yes right." She muttered. After a few minutes of silence she broke it. "You should go. To the party. You shouldn’t let Riddle hold this much power over you."
"I know but…" You had no explanation.
"In other circumstances would you have gone ?" She asked. You thought for a few seconds then you simply nodded your head. "Then you should go. Don’t let Riddle have that much power over you." You nodded thinking about it. She was right you shouldn’t let him affect you this much.
"Luna, I don’t know anyone."
"It’s okay I’ll come with you."
"You would ?"
"Yes I mean I don’t like parties but I guess if this could help you, why not ?" You warmly smiled at her.
Then you both started getting dressed. You wore a simple black laced top with a short black skirt and black boots. Luna suggested you wore a dark red lipstick, and you were against it until she reassured you it would really compliment your facial features. She herself wore a lighter version of your outfit, a long white skirt with a white top and light pink ballerinas. It complimented her fair skin and light hair.
The Hufflepuff common room was buzzing with music, you heard the sound of it even before entering the common room. Once you were inside, it was the smell of booze that entered you nostrils, making you shudder a little bit. You turned towards the makeshift bar in the end of the room.
"I’m getting myself a drink." You turned to Luna and she nodded, although she followed there.
You wouldn’t admit it but you lost count of the number of Firewhisky shots you drank after the second one. You weren’t used to drinking, a simple drop of it was enough to make you tipsy. But now you were absolutely wasted. Cho and Padma joined you when they saw you did in fact make it to the party. And quickly enough, you started swaying to the music amongst the crowd of students.
You were the first person Mattheo Riddle noticed when he entered the common room. It was hard not too. When you were in the middle of the dance floor, the sound of your laugh distinctive amongst the chatter, as you were swaying with the Hufflepuff’s quidditch team’s captain behind you. You looked beautiful that’s also one of the first thing he noticed but he couldn’t help feeling bitter about the position you were in with that other boy.
"Hey mate, we’re going–"
"Don’t fucking talk to me." He cut Blaise off.
His friends eventually told him they were the ones behind the article. And well…let’s say that Pansy couldn’t make it to the party because she unexpectedly grew a snake tongue in her mouth. Blaise was still there, although his hair was not.
They didn’t mean any harm. For them it was just a simple joke. But Mattheo seemed to have taken it that badly that he also refused to speak to any of them (and he probably will for at least a month even if you talk to him again). And that meant even his brother and cousin.
He headed towards the middle of the dance floor right towards you. He physically couldn’t bear watching you dancing this close to another man. It was also his chance to explain himself.
"Please can we talk ?" He said once he was close enough to you.
You turned your head and your joyful expression started to turn grim at the sight of him.
"You’re delusional if you think we have anything to talk about." You went back to dancing against the guy you were with. His hands going suspiciously lower and that was the last straw for him. How dare he touch you like this ? Let alone while he was clearly talking to you.
He ripped his hands off your body, nearly breaking them as you gasped. The guy cursed him loudly, but Mattheo didn’t care as he grabbed your hand. With a flick of his hand, the guys mouth was zipped shut. Satisfied, he guided you towards the exit of the common room, although you tried fighting back but your drunken body couldn’t do much against him. Once you were both in a quiet corner, he decided to let go of your hand.
"What is wrong with you ?" You frowned trying to stabilise your body. You were feeling extremely dizzy and Mattheo noticed, putting a hand on your hip so you wouldn’t fall.
"I hope you’ll listen to me now." he said, though his voice was softer than you'd expected.
You nodded slowly, barely holding yourself together. You really shouldn’t have drunk this much.
"Tell me." You mumbled trying to compose your thoughts. "Why are you so obsessed with me ?" It was meant to come off as biting. Dismissive.
But Mattheo didn’t take it that way. He didn’t even flinch.
He sighed.
"Because you’re the first person that doesn’t make me feel like I’m completely fucked."
You flinched at his honesty, blinking hard as your slow brain tried to catch up with the weight of his words. But he kept going.
"And I can’t fucking help thinking about you."
His voice was strained now. Like it hurt to speak.
"You’re constantly on my mind to the point I just can’t help but crave having you near me. All the time. And it’s driving me crazy. It’s scary as hell and I know it sounds insane but I need you. You don’t even realize how much.
You make it look so easy. So right. Like whatever I’ve done, whatever I’ve been, I’m not being judged. Not by you."
He took a shaky breath and pursed his lips, like he was trying to stop himself from saying too much. Then, quieter.
"I wouldn’t fuck it up. Not this. It would never be worth it."
There were still so many things he didn’t say.
How you made him feel safe in a way no one ever had.
How you listened without flinching.
How just existing near you felt like healing.
And maybe someday, he’d find the words for all of that.
But for now, this was everything.
"You’re pathetic." You huffed, but there was no bite in your voice. If anything, his words had sobered you up. Slowed your heartbeat in that dangerous, terrifying way.
"I know," he murmured. "Just for you."
You rolled your eyes but your lips twitched.
"You better deal with the paper."
"Yes." He was already shifting. "I’ll do it right now if you want."
You leaned in, your fingers brushing against his jaw, tilting his face toward yours.
"I’m thinking about doing other things." You muttered.
And then…
Dot dot dot.
"Fucking disgusting!" Your daughter gasped.
"Don’t tell me you told her about The Hogwarts gossip thing." Mattheo appeared in the living room, still in his robe from work
"Of course I did. She had to know the real truth about how her parents started dating."
"You didn’t need to say the WHOLE thing." She yelled.
"I didn’t. The ending is kept open for free interpretation." You shrugged, an amused smile on your face.
She huffed getting up. "This is so going to the group chat. Uncle Draco’s definitely going to hear about this. You two need help."
Mattheo glanced at you with a smirk.
"Do you think we should ask Draco for that therapist he talked about ? Maybe our dear daughter might need it."
"I don’t think it’s necessary. She’s just jealous she’s not as fun as us." You answer teasingly.
"You’re both insane!" Your daughter yelled from the hallway.
Mattheo chuckled and dropped onto the couch beside you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you into him. You went without resistance, head resting against his chest.
"You shouldn’t have told her." He muttered. "It’s an embarrassing story."
"It’s a cute story." you countered, lips curving into a smirk.
He paused. Then sighed.
"Yeah well. Still awfully cheesy."
You just laughed, knowing damn well it was his favorite memory too.

how to disappear. (opla!zoro x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
synopsis: joining luffy’s crew made you believe that you’d finally escaped your former pirate crew and nightmare of a captain for good. that is, until a certain butler starts looking a little too familiar. good thing zoro’s keeping a close eye on you.
warnings: opla spoilers (ep 3), some direct dialogue from opla, mentions of verbal/physical abuse, kuro is just a weirdo tbh, reader is called a bitch, protective zoro, for the sake of the story sham and buchie joined the black cat pirates after reader left
word count: 4.7k
Tumblr media
“this guy is full of shit.”
you knock your shoulder into zoro’s wider one. “be nice. and so what if he is?”
zoro gives you a pointed glare. “then we should turn around and look for someone who can actually help us find a ship.”
“all business, as per usual,” you reply, with a purposefully dramatic sigh. “why can’t you have a little fun?”
“what about this is supposed to be fun?” zoro spits out the word like it’s poisonous. “this is the blandest village i’ve ever seen.”
you scoff. “now you’re the one that’s full of shit. nothing’s ever bland with us and you know it.”
the us in question was your newly formed pirate crew… if you and luffy could even be considered that. having left the ship you’d been on a few years ago, you were in search of a new crew. luffy was persistent and charming — when you’d crossed paths in shells town, it took little to no time for him to convince you to join his hunt for the one piece. zoro and nami, on the other hand, had yet to follow in your footsteps.
“well, considering that we’ve only been traveling together for a day and a half and i’ve already escaped a marine base, defeated a marine captain, and fought a clown with devil fruit powers… i’d actually have to agree.”
you can’t help but giggle at his sarcastic delivery. “be grateful, zoro. not many pirate crews are this fun to be on, trust me. oh wait, that’s right, you still haven’t officially joined—”
“tell me about your old pirate crew,” interjects zoro, your comment having piqued his interest.
you notice that the playful atmosphere dissipates. “god, where do i even start?”
zoro answers that for you. “why did you leave?”
“starting with the hard hitting questions, huh?” you joke, mostly to stall. you clear your throat before you answer. “well, it was different. nothing like what luffy has going on. he actually cares about his crew… and even those who aren’t technically on it.”
at that, a smile tugs at the corner of zoro’s lips. even you crack a small grin. although as you continue speaking, it fades.
“on my old crew, we were dispensable. anytime something went wrong, our own captain would threaten to kill us. it was… scary, to be completely honest. there were so many times when i thought i’d die with that filthy crew. and i never wanted that. so as soon as we docked at shells town, i left.”
zoro’s jaw clenches as imagines the things you’d seen and been subjected to. “this old captain of yours sounds like a real—”
“he was a nightmare,” you tell him. “he didn’t care that i was the only woman on board, he treated me just as horribly, if not worse.”
zoro stops so suddenly that it takes you a second to realize he’s not walking alongside you.
“what do you mean by that.” the way zoro phrases the inquiry doesn’t even make it sound like a question. more like a demand. his narrowed eyes are fixed solely on you. holding his gaze feels… intense.
you can’t help but glance away as you answer him. “he was just a bit of a creep.”
before zoro has the chance to try and extract more information out of you, a familiar voice calls both your names. you’re not really sure when you and zoro had fallen behind but from where you currently stand, the rest of your group looks miniature. or perhaps it’s just the massive size of the mansion behind them that makes luffy, nami, and usopp look pocket-sized in comparison.
“why’d you stop walking?!” your captain shouts, hands pressed on each side of his mouth to amplify his voice. “get over here, we’re about to go in through the top secret entrance!”
you vaguely make out usopp gesturing for luffy to keep his voice down. you’re sure that would warrant another comment from zoro about his reliability but he’s too busy staring at you with that expectant look in his eyes.
“we better catch up,” you tell him, heading in the direction of the deluxe home.
he allows you to dodge the subject and sighs, walking in long strides to catch up to you.
Tumblr media
“i’ve never seen a house this big before,” luffy admits, admiring the mansion along with the wellkept greenery surrounding it.
“awesome, right?” usopp gloats, walking around like he owned the place. “kaya’s given me an open invitation to drop by anytime i want.”
“wow.” you’re not sure if luffy was just going along with usopp’s act or if he really believed him. knowing the devil fruit user, it was more than likely the latter. “all this for just one person?”
“well, she lives here with her butler and a few other staff,” usopp replies, leaning against the stone well that sat in the middle of the lawn.
“money really shows you who people truly are,” nami mutters, eyes scanning the property. “most people only care about themselves and what’s theirs.”
zoro is quick to throw the insult back at her. “sounds like someone i know.”
you roll your eyes at his comment, though you make no effort to disagree with him. nami was a little on the materialistic side.
“and a small staff makes for easy pickings,” she continues, proving your point.
“we just got here and you’re already planning on robbing the place blind?” you ask though you already know the answer.
“at least a little blurry,” she smirks, following behind luffy and usopp who walk toward the entrance.
you and zoro share a look. one that says disappointed but not surprised.
going under a shrub shaped as an arch, you’re met with a beautiful pond. you admire the pink lilies that float at the top and the bushes that were intricately trimmed into the shape of various animals. even if the people that lived here were filthy rich, at least they had good decorative taste.
“so if you have an invitation, why are we going around the back way?” luffy ponders.
usopp’s answer is nonchalant. “oh, i never use the front entrance. like i said, this is the vip entrance reserved for special guests.”
zoro scoffs. “this guy’s definitely–”
“don’t start,” you groan, cutting him off.
abruptly, usopp freezes and spins around, attempting to usher your crew back. “you know what, there’s actually a more exclusive entrance this way–”
the sharp swoosh of a knife cutting through the air and burying itself in the ground between usopp’s feet cuts him off. from the direction the kitchen utensil was thrown stands a heavyset gentleman with his face wrinkled in anger. his demanding voice booms through the garden, “the hell are you doing here, usopp?”
the dark-skinned boy fumbles over his word. “buchi, buddy, uh, kaya’s expecting me.”
“another one of your lies,” the man – seemingly named buchi – seethes, grabbing him by the collar. “you ain’t welcome here and you know it.”
“i know nothing of the sort,” usopp retorts, keeping his cool even when he was practically being lifted off the ground by his shirt. “i’m here to give kaya an extra special gift.”
before buchi can get another word out, a feminine voice calls out for your companion. coming down the steps is a frail looking girl in a pink dress. on her arm is a man dressed in a crisp suit, presumably the butler usopp had mentioned earlier. though, from where you stand you can’t see either of their faces too clearly.
“what a wonderful surprise,” she exclaims, breathlessly.
“kaya!” usopp exclaims, returning her enthusiasm. buchi has no choice but to let him go, begrudgingly. usopp makes sure to shoot him a smug look before walking towards the young girl. “happy birthday.”
the butler clears his throat, not afraid to intrude on their special moment. “usopp, we’ve discussed this before. you mustn’t show up unannounced.”
“nonsense, klahadore.” kaya smiles warmly. “have you come to tell me another story? i do love hearing about your adventures.”
“i’ll do you one better,” usopp smirks with such confidence that even you’re left wondering what kind of surprise he has up his sleeve. “i brought some of my crew!” he gestures back towards the four of you, proudly.
your excitement vanishes. “oh. the surprise is… us.”
“well, that’s boring,” luffy agrees, just as disappointed as you are.
kaya, on the other hand, is none the wiser. “it’s so nice to meet you. you must all stay for dinner.”
klahadore lowers his voice. “miss kaya, it is a bit last minute. i’m afraid the kitchen hasn’t prepared for any extra guests.”
“please,” begs kaya, softly. “it’s my birthday. can’t be too much trouble can it?”
giving in, klahadore purses his lips. “anything for you, miss kaya.”
luffy claps his hands together. “alright! when do we eat?”
“you don’t. not dressed like that, at least.” the butler directs himself to a staff member with teal colored hair. “sham, kindly show usopp and his friends to the guest suites. you will bathe and change before dinner.”
she follows his orders and leads the way. luffy, usopp, nami, and zoro trail behind her and you go to do the same. however, all it takes is a quick glance to stop you dead in your tracks. usually, you weren’t one to stare but klahadore’s face. that stare. so dark and depraved.
“yes, miss?” he asks, holding your gaze. “can i help you?”
“n-no, i…” your throat goes dry as you attempt to recover smoothly. “i just wanted to, um, thank you for being so hospitable.”
his lips curve upwards into a sinister grin. “the pleasure’s all mine.” as if to confirm your worst fear, klahadore uses his palm to readjust his glasses. his beady eyes gauge your reaction closely.
the familiar gesture sends chills down your spine. appearance-wise, he had changed drastically but his aura was still just as menacing as you remember it. he was still the corrupt pirate captain you used to serve under. you feel like a weak and helpless subordinate all over again.
“klahadore!” giggles kaya. “you’re smiling! that’s certainly a rarity.”
he hums. “i’ve simply come to the realization that having guests once in a while can truly be a delight.”
his sickeningly sweet tone makes your stomach turn. just the fact that you were standing in front of him – captain kuro – again after all these years was nauseating in itself. last you’d heard he had died at the hands of captain morgan. how was this even possible? then again, he wasn’t dubbed kuro of a hundred plans for no reason. he always had a trick or two up his sleeve. you assumed this was no different.
“hey, you comin’?”
you turn around to see zoro waiting for you. he meets your gaze for a moment. the softness of his eyes is a stark contrast to kuro’s. it’s a breath of fresh air. he then shifts his attention to your former captain and you swear his eyes darken.
“yeah, sorry,” you mumble, trying not to look shaken as you walk up the steps.
zoro follows behind you, this time closer than before.
Tumblr media
“why would anybody even need this many clothes?”
“it’s not about need with these people, luffy. it’s about want,” nami spits, thumbing through the various fabrics on the wall.
“at least she’s rich and nice,” luffy replies, innocently.
nami rolls her eyes. “yeah, letting us stay for dinner must be her idea of charity work.”
“what are we even supposed to wear?” luffy continues, uninterested in nami’s criticism of the rich.
“anything you want. when are you ever going to get the opportunity to wear things this nice?”
you step out from behind the changing board where you’d swapped out your old tee and cargo skirt for an elegant satin dress. it was a stunning shade of olive green and frilly lace decorated the edges. not to mention, it hugged your curves in all the right ways.
nami’s eyes widen. “see, she’s got the right idea. you look amazing.”
you smile, bashfully. “honestly, i feel amazing.”
“you look the same to me,” your captain shrugs.
nami shoots him a death glare but you intervene before she can scold him.
“way to keep me humble, luffy.”
“no problem!”
at that exact moment, a freshly showered zoro arrives donning a silk robe. he eyes the multitude of garments that cover every inch of the room, not particularly impressed.
“there you are. don’t you think she looks nice?” nami asks him, gesturing towards you. she doesn’t notice how you shrink under zoro’s gaze. neither does he, as his eyes take their time raking over you, from top to bottom.
he hums. “suits you.” with that, he sets off towards a chair in the corner of the room.
“seriously?” sighs nami, exasperated. “are you two physically unable to give compliments or something?”
“hey, doesn’t that butler seem familiar to you guys?” zoro asks, promptly ignoring nami’s complaint.
his question causes your breath to hitch. you’d pushed the kuro problem to the back of your mind while you were in search of a suitable dinner outfit. you figured that as long as your crew was by your side, he wouldn’t dare try anything. and even if he did… well, you’d seen what had happened to axe-hand morgan and buggy.
“yeah, i think he was at the last dinner party i attended,” nami replies sarcastically, taking a handful of dresses behind the changing board.
as he takes a seat, zoro grumbles, “i swear i’ve seen him before.”
“where?” you can’t help but ask, fiddling with the lace on the neckline of your dress.
“so far, i’ve got two suspicions. a wanted poster or funky bar on mirrorball island. you ever been?”
you know zoro’s teasing you, judging by the grin on his face. after all, funky bar was known to get insanely rowdy; never would he imagine finding someone as gentle as you there. but what he didn’t know is that it happened to be one of kuro’s favorite bars. per his request, you and the rest of the black cat pirates frequented it often, so he was more than likely right about having seen kuro there. he’d probably even seen you in passing, once or twice. thankfully, he doesn’t seem to have any recollection of that.
the thought of zoro knowing about your past forms a knot in the pit of your stomach. would he think less of you for having joined such a ruthless crew at one point in your life? what if it put a strain on the friendship you’d worked so hard to form?
“i’ve, uh, heard of it,” you decide to reply, pushing down your worries for the time being.
he tilts his head slightly, thinking out loud. “then again, i have seen a lot of wanted posters and bars in my time as a pirate hunter.”
you feel a grin creep onto your face. “probably more bars than posters, huh?”
zoro mirrors your smile. “shut up.”
Tumblr media
by the time dinner rolls around, the entire crew is doing what they do best.
luffy is stuffing his face, nami is attempting to swindle one of the staff, zoro is hanging by the drinks, and you’re hanging by zoro.
“hey zoro, you gotta try this!” luffy calls through a mouthful of food.
“i’ve got all i need right here,” he mutters, taking a swig out of his champagne flute.
“you know, i don’t think i’ve ever seen you choke down something that isn’t alcohol,” you comment, watching the way he downs the glass in one go.
dryly, he replies, “that’s because i haven’t.”
“very on brand.”
“ladies and gentlemen,” calls out that voice from the top of the stairs. “may i present… miss kaya.”
arm in arm, kuro and kaya walk down the steps, all eyes on the birthday girl and her stunning gown. well, except you. your eyes never leave the so-called butler by her side. your jaw clenches when he has the audacity to meet your gaze and hold it. shameless bastard.
once they reach the bottom, merry leads kaya to the guests while kuro takes his post at the bottom of the stairs… right next to the drink table. before you can think about steering yourself and zoro away, kuro speaks.
“forgive me if i am speaking out of line, madam, but i must inform you. you look positively radiant,” he purrs, soaking in your appearance. he looks ready to pounce.
you can’t stop your eyes from rolling. good to know he’s the same pervert he used to be.
looking between you both and sensing your discomfort, zoro steps in. “and you look familiar.”
kuro’s head stiffly turns to face him, eyes peeling away from you. “highly doubtful, sir.”
“funky bar? mirror ball island?”
“funky bar?” kuro repeats, disgusted. “well, i can assure you i’ve never patronized that type of establishment.”
while it was amusing to see your highly esteemed former captain lie through his teeth, the tension between him and zoro was unbearable.
“well then.” zoro continues with his little interrogation. “ever been on a wanted poster?”
you cringe at his bluntness. sometimes it seemed like he had less of a filter than luffy.
kuro puts on a scandalized face at the question. “sir! such an accusation is highly offensive.” tugging on his collar, he goes to remove himself from zoro’s probing. “now, if you’ll excuse me, i’m going to help prepare the dinner table.”
he leaves, en route to the dining room. zoro’s eyes follow his figure until he disappears, squinting as he racks his brain for any further recollection of this suspicious butler.
you sigh. if zoro was going to continue being so relentless, you were sure the night would end in bloodshed and uncovered secrets.
Tumblr media
“keep this coming,” zoro demands, handing the empty wine bottle to sham. she takes it with a glare.
“would it kill you to say please?” you ask, slicing the slab of fish on your plate into smaller pieces.
“the service here is shitty. why should i have to be polite?”
you scowl. “remind me to never have dinner with you again.”
zoro turns to you with that cocky grin of his. “what if i asked nicely?”
his quip makes your heart flutter but you manage to keep your composure. “you can try your luck.”
before he can respond, usopp speaks up. “luffy, isn’t there something that you wanted to talk to kaya about?”
luffy gesticulates enthusiastically with his fork. “oh, yes! usopp told me that you own the whole shipyard.”
“well, actually, my parents founded the shipyard and merry’s been running the business since they… passed. but all that’s about to change. tonight, at midnight, i will become the sole owner.” she smiles somberly.
“well, that’s great,” luffy says, raising his drink at her. “because we want to buy a ship from you.”
“ah, i see. usopp mentioned that you’re sailors.”
“nope, not sailors. we’re pirates!”
you’re certain at least three people at the table choke on their food, yourself included.
“this ought to be good,” zoro mumbles behind his glass.
you’re too busy coughing into your napkin to chastise him for finding this entertaining.
“pirates?” kaya repeats, unsure of how to react.
“yup! we haven’t sailed together for very long but we’ve already defeated an evil clown, raided a marine base, and taken down a captain with an axe! for a hand!” luffy holds up a fist, presumably to impersonate axe-hand morgan.
“sounds a lot like your adventures, usopp,” kaya says, turning to the brunette.
all he can do is laugh dryly. “yeah, that’s… that’s crazy.”
“and we’re just getting started!” luffy continues, climbing up onto the table.
“someone put me out of my misery,” you mumble, looking down at your plate to ignore the secondhand embarrassment.
a tap on your shoulder answers your plea.
turning around, you find yourself face to face with kuro once again. “madam, a word please?”
“might i ask what for?” zoro cuts in before you can so much as think of a response.
kuro offers him the most forced grin you’ve ever had the displeasure of seeing. “i’m afraid that is between the lady and i.”
the swordsman turns to you, scanning your face for any ounce of discomfort. “you okay with that?”
you inhale, figuring it was finally time for you to confront the darkest part of your past. it was silly to assume you would be able to ignore him throughout your entire stay here. besides, you were sure zoro, just like the rest of your crew, would be on standby if kuro got brave enough to try anything. “sure. just… keep an eye out.”
zoro understands completely. truthfully, you didn’t even need to ask – he always looked after you. “got it.”
you push yourself out of your seat and smooth out your dress. you allow kuro to lead you to the doorway – he was smart enough to know that was the farthest you’d let him take you.
“what do you want, klahadore?” you seethe, folding your arms.
he arches a brow. “why must you call me that? it’s ridiculous.”
you tilt your head with faux innocence. “oh? is that not your name? must have misheard.”
he gives you an irritated look, dark eyes drilling into you.
“i remember that look,” you mutter, your memory serving you well. “it’s the same one you’d give me before you’d threaten to slice me to bits with your claws.”
kuro has the audacity to chuckle dryly. “but i never did, did i? although there were certainly times times where i should’ve.”
“what you should be is dead,” you hiss bitterly. “when i heard the news, i knew it was too good to be true.”
“you wound me, kitten,” he drawls, reaching up to fix his glasses.
the condescending nickname makes your skin crawl. it carried so many awful memories of your time spent with the black cat pirates. it reminded you of just how weak kuro viewed you — nothing but a helpless, pitiful kitten in his eyes. typical of the man that abused his authority and treated you with not a single ounce of respect.
he continues, putting on a sweet tone. “after all these years, stuck waiting hand and foot on that spoiled brat, there’s nothing i’d love more than to hear my favorite crew mate say my real name.”
you snap at him. “i’m no crew mate of yours.”
he sighs, dramatically. “sadly, you’re correct. after all, you did slip off the ship the moment we docked in shells town. locating you on an island crawling with marines proved to be nearly impossible. we had no choice but to leave without you.”
“that’s exactly why i chose to escape there.”
“and to this day i can’t for the life of me figure out why you would ever do that. why would you want to leave us? leave me?”
you actually laugh right in his face. “is it really that hard to figure out? you were evil. you threatened and harassed me on a daily basis.”
“so your solution was to join that ragtag crew?” he glances at the table. “it’s pathetic, even for you.”
you lean into his face, lowering your voice down. “i’m happier than i ever was on your shitty crew. every day i wake up grateful that i managed to escape you.”
you see that vein on his forehead bulge before he’s gripping you by the chin. “listen here, you little bitch–”
the shiny silver of a sword slides between you and kuro, coming to rest against his neck. his adam’s apple bobs as he gulps anxiously, releasing you. thanks to zoro’s sword, it seemed as if he finally remembered where he was. you were no longer on his ship, he was no longer allowed to treat you like the dirt he walked on. not without someone noticing, that is.
“why don’t you step away?” zoro offers simply.
that much was a kindness. usually those who found themselves on the end of zoro’s blade(s) weren’t lucky enough to receive a warning. however, the swordsman didn’t wish to cause a scene. at least not when you were right there and everyone was watching with shock from the dinner table.
kuro obliges, stumbling back. he meets kaya’s horrified eyes, feeling ashamed that he allowed his act to slip. surely this would cause some setbacks in his plan. with no excuse for his uncharacteristic behavior, the raven haired man scurries away and up the stairs.
zoro turns and locks eyes with luffy, giving him one singular nod. luffy returns it, jumping out of his seat and going after the butler. quiet murmuring breaks out at the dinner table, everyone surely confused.
sheathing his sword, zoro directs his attention to you once more. “are you alright?” a calloused hand comes up to grip your chin, much like kuro had. however, this time, the touch is gentle. loving, almost. you welcome it.
“yeah, i’m… fine.” your heart is beating out of your chest and it has everything to do with your close proximity to zoro.
he tilts your face around, inspecting every inch of it. once he finishes, he pulls back. his demeanor goes serious once more. “we need to have a talk.”
you nod. “i know. i’ve been keeping some things from you guys and–”
“just tell me what’s been going on,” he demands. “and don’t overcomplicate it. you can be straightforward with me.”
his sincerity makes you start over, this time far more candidly. “klahadore used to be a pirate. i was part of his crew. he was my… captain.”
the shame in your voice pulls at zoro’s heartstrings. didn’t you know there was no reason to feel guilty with him? “is that it?”
you open your mouth to speak but come up empty. all you can do is furrow your eyebrows at his unexpectedly dismissive reaction.
“i knew it,” zoro continues, annoyed. “i knew i’d seen him on a wanted poster before. just didn’t have any proof.”
“wait, so you don’t– you really don’t care?” you ask, still avoiding eye contact. “me being a former black cat pirate doesn’t bother you?”
he shrugs. “you said it yourself. ‘former.’ all that matters is that you got the hell out of there. and away from that creep. would he always put his hands on you like that?”
you blink a couple times, sighing. “his temper was really bad so–”
that seemed to be enough for zoro. “i’ll kill the bastard,” he hisses. “wanted to slice him to bits the moment i saw him grab you.”
though it’s a violent threat, you can’t help but smile. the idea of zoro being so protective that he’d kill a man just for touching you made you blush. pirate love language, you suppose.
“well, i wouldn’t have stopped you,” you tell him, more than ready to see your former captain go.
zoro clicks his tongue. “nah. could’ve stained your new dress with his blood. i never would have been able to forgive myself.”
“so you do have a soft spot,” you tease.
“only for pretty things.”
“do you mean me or the dress?”
now it’s zoro’s turn to become bashful. though, his lack of response is an answer in itself. you can’t help but giggle.
a loud bang from upstairs interrupts your moment with the green-haired man. you assume luffy had gotten his hands on kuro… or vice versa. zoro must be thinking the same thing judging by the way he instinctively rests a hand on the handle of his blade.
“you should go up there,” you tell him. “i’ll stay with kaya.”
he gives you a nod, though he doesn’t make any effort to leave. he stands there like he wants to say something… or do something. before you can think about it too much, you pull him in by the collar and crash your lips onto his. they’re slightly chapped and taste like the wine that’d come from the cellar – it’s pleasant. his large palms come to rest on your lower back; his hold feels tight and secure.
when you finally allow yourself to pull away, you’re biting back a smile. “kick his ass for me.”
“will i get more of that if i do?” asks zoro, wetting his lips. they now taste like the cherry lip gloss you’d borrowed from kaya. he takes a step forward, attempting to close the gap between you two once more.
you shrug, pushing him away by the chest. “go help luffy and we’ll see.”
you both know that means yes.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

pairing: ex!spencer reid x fem!reader genre: flangst tags: still in love exes. alcohol consumption. (sleepy) drunk reader. spencer reid's fear of dementia. word count: 1.3k a/n: obligatory do not contact your exes this holiday season. just fantasise about doing it to spencer reid. it’s opening night for my play so!! here is this while i go off to do that!!! :D
❄︎ advent calendar masterlist
Fourteen missed calls.
Spencer Reid had fourteen missed calls, from a number he did not have saved, but could recognise despite the months that have passed and the seasons that have changed.
Why did he have fourteen missed calls?
Christmas was always an awful time for him. The striking reminder that he was alone in a big city, for his mother does not remember him this year, his father does not exist in his life, and his friends have families of their own.
And then there was you. Oh God, there was you.
He thinks even when he grows old and his brain begins to delete files from his expansive memory, you will stick around forever. He thinks he is physically incapable of forgetting you, even if he tried. Sickeningly so.
Shaking hands answer the sixteenth call before it can ring through, having watched the fifteenth come and go. He was met with a lot of silence, and he had to question if he even had picked up the call.
But yes, you were there. Quietly. Breathing into the phone, perhaps surprised by the fact that he had actually answered. Or maybe this wasn't you. Maybe you had changed your number, or gotten your phone stolen, or—
"Spencer?"
If anything were to pierce the silence in his apartment, it might be the shattering of his heart as he listens to you speak his name for the first time in thirteen months. Your voice was so familiar, yet so different, too. You had thirteen months of growth, and yet you sound the same as you had the day he first met you.
"Hey," he finally breathes out, and he hears you shakily exhale.
"Can you open your door? S'really cold out here."
He freezes. The causality in your tone tells him there's something else motivating your random reappearance in his life, followed closely by the faintest hint of a slur in your words.
Oh.
He heads to his door, and sure enough, on the other side of it, stands you, in something borderline ridiculous for the December weather. No wonder you were freezing.
"What're you—why're you—come in—it's freezing," he stammers out, eventually deciding on stepping to the side to let you into his warmer apartment, the visible relaxation of your shoulders providing some comfort to him in light of your state.
"Your hair," you say, eyes wide as he coaxes you inside and to his kitchen countertop. His fingertips probably burn holes through the fabric of your dress as he guides you.
"My hair," he replies, and though it isn't posed as a question, he is confused.
"It's longer," you clarify for him. "I like it."
He provides a weak smile. "Thank you. Are you cold?"
"Not anymore," you shake your head, finding a seat at his island, folding yourself in half over the edge of it, resting your head on the marble. "Your apartment's warm."
He nods his head, walking around to the other side of it, using his hands to lift your head back up. "Don't fall asleep."
"'m not," you mumble in response, though your head growing heavier and lolling into his left palm claimed otherwise.
"Liar," he muses, and you huff, quietly, but force your eyes open regardless. He ignores the heavy feeling in his chest when the two of you lock eyes. "There she is. Why're you here?"
"I dunno, actually," you say, and his heart sinks. "My friends put me in a taxi an hour ago. Or two hours. I don't really remember," he presumes one hour — you were still so drunk. "And I asked him to drive me around. He said okay, but he needed a final destination too. I guess I gave him your address."
"Why?"
"Habit, maybe," you murmur.
"It's habit to take a taxi back to my apartment?"
You shrug your shoulders. "'Cause I used to. Back when..."
We were still together, hangs off the end of your sentence.
"Christmas party?" he then asks you, and your head nods against his palm.
"For work," you end the word with a yawn. "I wanted to Merry Christmas my way back into your life, I guess."
He knew it was your lowered inhibitions spilling these details out to him, and he should pretend you aren't saying things like this for your own benefit. But he also couldn't stop the visceral reaction he has towards your admission of wanting to reenter his life.
"You shouldn't," he replies.
You pause, searching his face all too intently. "D'you not want me to?"
It's a loaded question, and he knows the response he wants to say is vastly different to the response he should say. But you're staring at him, albeit inebriated, and he has nothing left to do but curse his impeccable memory for reminding him of everything he hasn't had for thirteen months. He misses you.
"I don't want you to do something you regret," he settles on saying.
"Well, 'm already here," you mumble, and his hands soften on your cheeks, before he slips them away.
"Yes. You are," he nods, standing up straighter. "Do you have a way home?"
"Um, Uber, I guess."
"It's too late and you're too drunk for an Uber alone," he disapproves.
"I took a Taxi here alone—"
"—I'm not letting you go home — alone —from my apartment in your state," he counters immediately. "I don't really care how you got here."
You relent quite easily though, murmuring a quiet, "Okay," that shocks him.
"Do you want to shower?"
You nod, your feet slipping from the stool and landing on the floor. He's moving back around to you to help the second he watches your hands brace on the edge of the countertop, an arm looping around your waist that makes your stomach swim.
"I can walk, y'know."
"Uh-huh," he doesn't believe you fully, and you don't have it in you to fight with him as he leads you to an all too familiar bathroom. As he sits you down on his toilet lid, he says, "Stay there. I'll get you some clothes."
"Yes, Doc."
His cheeks puff as he expels a sigh at the nickname, shaking his head as he disappears back into his bedroom.
By the time he's returned, your eyes are fluttered shut, your head sitting probably uncomfortably against the wall next to his toilet. But your chest is moving evenly enough for him to conclude that you had fallen asleep that quickly, and he didn't have the heart to wake you back up. He'll take your frustration in the morning.
You barely stir as he carries you into his room again. Instead, he swears you curl further into his bedsheets the second he places you down on his mattress.
"Spence?"
He's barely two footsteps towards his door when you speak again, and his heart shatters. He turns over his shoulder, and though you're speaking, your eyes are barely cracked open.
"Where're you goin'?"
"The couch," he says, confused by the frown that tugs your lips down. "What?"
"Come back. This is your bed."
"It is," he nods. "But you're in it."
"'m not gonna bite," you say, your hands weakly stretching out towards him.
He takes a few beats to determine whether or not he'd take up your offer. But he is too weak of a man to not give in, and he doesn't know if he'll ever get you in his bed again. So, he sighs, and begrudgingly climbs back into his bed next to you.
"Hey," he turns his head, a question dancing on his tongue. But when he finds you again, you're fast asleep once more. Habitually, as if it hadn't been thirteen months, he brushes the hair that had fallen out of your face, and he smiles.
And, to no one in particular, he murmurs, "I'm glad you Merry Christmas'd your way back into my life."

Everyone was doing their Dick aus being de-aged... I want too-
The spell probably wasn't intended for Nightwing... It was a spell meant to leave the recipient vulnerable, probably... But he hit Nightwing, and things got... complicated from there.
Zatanna can't risk guessing the spell, she can only guarantee that it's temporary, so... They have to wait.
Dick, now almost twenty years younger, sits in the cave on a nursing gurney, hugging a stuffed elephant to his body as if his life depended on it.
Alfred, the first person he saw, told him the whole situation... And he accepted it.
And, now, his brothers are looking at him as directly as he looks at them.
Damian is... As impressed as he is scared.
Dick, his older brother, a father figure... His Batman, sits in front of him now as a boy almost half his age.
If Dick were a year younger, and Damian just a few months older... He'd be half his age.
But Dick was in his Robin uniform, just as Damian himself was. Dick, being almost half his age, had already gone out onto the streets to patrol, to fight.
He knew Dick was admirable, someone worthy of the adoration the hero community bestowed upon him... And maybe less than three years ago he wouldn't see anything strange... bad, in this form of his...
But now he saw it.
Tim, who always looked at Dick with a mixture of admiration and respect, now saw him like that... But also with an underlying desperation that had joined his gaze.
He had always been smaller than Dick, being younger by a few years. When he met him, Tim was just a toddler, so there was no way he didn't see Dick as someone big... When he himself was Robin, Dick was already an adult, he was still big.
But now, seeing Dick barely older than the first time he saw him..., and he being a young adult himself...
God, Dick was small.
Jason was disturbed.
He had been small when he was Robin in the beginning, he knew that... He barely reached Bruce's chest back then.
But, Dick? Seeing him in his Robin costume, for the first time ever... When he, Jason, was almost as tall as Bruce...
Richard Grayson was so tiny in comparison.
Dick couldn't reach him above the waist, he was smaller than most children of eight, almost nine years old, and he had seen little children on the streets.
And so, so small, tiny... And he was already a vigilante.
Jason feels sick.
Bruce thinks he might throw up.
Had Dick been so small back then? Wasn't that a side effect of the spell?
How had this little kid defeated guys the size of Bruce? How did he manage to fly through the air back then, so big for the Earth, even though he was so small?
He approaches the stretcher to see his first child, and the child smiles as soon as he sees him. He is missing one of his front teeth, having lost it shortly before.
He was a baby.
So capable... So terrifyingly capable.
So small. So young.
But so strong.
God, how could he have let this kid go back then? He knew his capabilities; he wasn't so foolish as to underestimate him because of his size and youth...
But how did his heart bear it?
Bruce doesn't know.

How I entered the void so easily after 1 year of trying
So after 1 year and half of trying to enter I finally did it and I am so mad because it REALLY IS SOOOOO EASY and tbh if in this post you are looking for any sort of validation or info you smart ass already know then please REMEMBER THIS : entering the void is extremely easy. You just have to do it in a way that resonates with you.
Personally for me since I had adhd I couldn’t just stay still and affirm for 1 or even a few for 10 mins. Not just because I was lazy but because just repeating “I am in the void” for so long gets me tired and makes me think of the void more and you actually don’t want to think too deeep about it. I couldn’t wake 3 hours prior and then affirm or even have the patience to do the psych k, yes I was extremely lazy back then and unpresistent but one thing that helped me even backed then was THE ALPHA STATE MEDITATION !
You just have to find what works for you, find a method technique whatever you want to do that doesn’t seem like a chore. So In a post back then I found on @gorgeouslypink acc talking about doing the alpha sate meditation and I tried it back then and I felt really relaxed and it was a good feeling but like I said back then I was realllly lazy so after a few mins I stopped. Then many months later passed and I was still looking for anything and everything on the void. Then just like two days ago I came across another post which was pretty simple and the technique I used was called the DISTRACTED TECHNIQUE.
All there was to do was the usual you get into a comfortable position and then she said to use the alpha state meditation and used the one gorgeouslypink recommended. So I used it and then what she tell you to do is to just think of anything else just get distracted basically and this WAS SO GOOD 4 ME because back then I had adhd so it made it harder to concentrate on just affirming and so yeah I just thought of random things and then at some point where I was completely distracted I felt my body like lift up 😭 if that makes sense I just can’t clearly describe it. It felt really like a shift and I was like ‘panicking’ in a way but I wasn’t actually panicking I just kinda became aware what was going and then I got scared a little but I just relaxed shortly after. Also my fan that was making like a loud noises was coming in an out and then I only hear it in one ear and then I didn’t hear anything and I just stayed there wondering if I reached the void and i actually was!!! I didn’t feel my body it felt like I had no body at all and it was pitch black just like how I imagined the void to be. For a few minutes I just stayed there feeling the most surreal peace I have ever felt. I needed that peace fr 💀.
So then I affirmed for my desires all I said was “I have all my desired results from my subliminal playlist.” Then just to be extra sure I just said “I have everything I want.”
At that point I got really excited and then I wiggled my toes to get out because I was too dam happy I needed to see all my shit the moment I wake up and then I slowly started getting out and when I tell you I cried for like a good dam minute when I woke up and saw how DIFFERENT. My room looked. I literally screamed onto my pillow. I was so dam scare and yet excited to see how I looked.
WHAT I MANIFESTED :
Desired body and face
Having silky straight tailbone length hair cuz mines was originally curly
And everything in my sub playlist
My desired boyfriend and guys I made him be like Gojo Satoru ( because we are all delusional over him 🤪) and let me tell you he is so tall, handsome, sexy and a literal god. He is so silly too 🩷
Moving countries I now live in ny
Never actually meeting my ex and all the people in my old school forget me and have actually never even met me. Like if u asked them about me they have never heard or known me before
Extremely rich rich like hella bands
Got rid of my anxiety and mental health issue
Plus +++
NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS.
Even if the circumstances seem to be eating you alive don’t mind that too much. Even if all seems hopeless don’t give up because you already know nothing can decide or be unless you give it power to be. So stop being goofy and take responsibility and DONT STRESS!! You don’t see God stressing do you. All he has to do is blink and whatever he wants to happen, happens. Plus a lot of confidence came from non dualism that I owe a huge thanks to @trynafindbarbiee she really said it like it is !!

Tumblr media
You were just coming back from your lunch break with two of your coworkers when you received a call from Gotham Academy asking you to come pick up Dick as soon as possible. It didn’t take more than a minute after the call ended for you to inform your boss you were cutting your day of work short today, to grab your black trench coat and bag and to sit behind the wheel of your car, on your way to the private school.
Dick Grayson had entered your lives a month and a half ago, after Bruce took you on a date to Haley’s Circus where the young boy’s parents died tragically in front of your eyes. When you were informed that their child didn't have any family to care for him and would end up in the foster system, you didn't even have to try to convince your husband to begin the process to become his foster parents. It had been two weeks since Dick started living with you in the manor and though he was slowly warming up to Bruce, Alfred and you, he was still plagued with nightmares and a deep sadness about the loss of his family.
“What happened?” You asked the receptionist in a hurry once you arrived at the school. You didn't need to introduce yourself or mention to the woman behind the desk that you were Dick’s ward, perks of being married to Bruce Wayne.
“Ah, Mrs. Wayne!” The headmaster, a bald fifty-something white man with round glasses that you should probably try to remember his name, exclaimed as he appeared in the doorway leading to his office. “Please, follow me.”
You walked around the receptionist’s desk and entered the headmaster’s office, where a small boy with dark hair hung his head low. You could sense the sadness emanating from him the second you stepped in the room. You ignored the principal’s invitation to take a seat in the chair in front of his desk to instead crouch down in front of Dick.
“Dick, sweetie, are you okay?” You asked him worriedly. You rested your hands on his knees and lowered your head to try to catch his eyes.
The young boy shook his head ‘no’ before lunging onto you, wrapping his thin arms around your neck as he wept on your shoulder. You were surprised at first, Dick wasn’t comfortable enough with you and Bruce to do more than holding your hands when outside of the house, but you recovered from the shock in less than a second.
“Oh, bubs,” you whispered in a sigh, hugging him close to you and rubbing your right hand up and down his back in a comforting way as sobs shook his small body.
“He’s been like this since the beginning of the students’ lunch break,” the headmaster sympathetically informed you. “The lunch supervisors tried to comfort him but it was to no avail, so we called you.”
You turned your head to face the older man, noticing at the same time the plaque on his desk that read ‘Principal Richardson’. “You did the right thing,” you told him.
“Given the circumstances, it is more than alright if Mr. Grayson wants to go home for the afternoon,” Mr. Richardson offered.
“Do you want to go back to the manor?” You whispered the question in Dick’s ear and he nodded his head ‘yes’.
You rose up from your crouching position, Dick still hanging onto you tight like you were his lifeboat. Thank God he was a little frail since his parents’ death or you wouldn’t be able to carry the eight year old in your arms right now.
“Thank you, Mr. Richardson,” you thanked the principal and he accompanied you out of the school where one of the lunch supervisors waited at the door with Dick’s school bag and lunchbox.
You sat Dick down in his booster car seat – he was still a little too small to sit without one – and put his bags in the seat next to him before closing the door behind you.
“Please send our salutations to Mr. Wayne,” the principal told you and you shyly smiled, nodding your head one time as you sat down in the driver’s seat.
The ride back to the manor was quiet except for Dick’s sniffles as he continued crying. It broke your heart that you couldn’t just take all of his pain away. Both you and Bruce had lost your parents when you were kids, you understood the grief Dick was in just like you knew that only time will heal him.
Once you arrived home, Alfred came down the stairs to grab your bags while you carried Dick, who was back to latching onto you like a koala, in the house. You kicked off your high heels after walking through the front door and went straight to Dick’s room on the second floor.
“Let’s get you out of that uniform, how’s that sound bubs?” You softly asked him once in his bedroom.
“Okay,” Dick murmured, letting go of your neck to rub the tears away from his eyes and his cheeks.
You sat him down on his bed and turned to his drawer to pull out a pair of pyjamas. You then helped him change his clothes and once he was ready, with Zitka his elephant plushie tucked under his arm, he grabbed your hand and pulled you out of his room.
“Can we make hot cocoa, please?” He looked up at you with his big blue eyes, the colour eerily the same as Bruce’s, and you simply couldn’t say no to them. Not before, not now and definitely not ever.
“Of course, bubs,” you said, squeezing his hand reassuringly.
You both made your way to the kitchen, where Alfred was doing an inventory of the dry food in the cupboards.
“Mrs. Y/N, Master Dick, can I help you with something?” He politely asked you.
“Pretend like we’re not here Alfred,” you told the butler as you helped Dick sit on the kitchen island. “We’re making hot cocoa. Do you want some?”
“You know I would never refuse a cup of your famous hot cocoa, Mrs. Y/N,” Alfred lightheartedly said and the two of you broke down in small chuckles.
“Should we also leave some for Bruce when he gets home?” You asked Dick who was now eye levelled with you from where he was perched on the kitchen island.
The little boy nodded his head ‘yes’ and you set up everything you needed to make the warm beverage, along with four coffee mugs. Dick helped you and in a matter of ten minutes, your drinks were ready.
“Come with me,” you whispered to Dick as you helped him get down from the kitchen island counter. “I have an idea of how to pass time while we wait for the hot cocoa to cool down a little.”
Dick held your hand as you made your way to the living room with the television and the comfy couches (because of course Wayne Manor had more than one living room, including ones that were more formal for the balls and galas you hosted).
“You wanna know what my brother and I used to do when one of us was feeling down?” You looked down at the small boy. He nodded his head for you to continue. “We built the biggest blanket forts that could ever be built. But I think with all the materials we have here, we can build an even bigger one. Are you in?”
You were slowly succeeding at making Dick feel better after the little episode at lunch. Grief comes and goes in waves, and his loss was still very recent. You just wanted to be there for him when the pain hits him.
Dick nodded his head, a little more excitedly this time, and the two of you set off to start building a giant blanket fort using the couch mattresses, throw pillows and blankets stored in the room. You were hanging a blanket that would be the roof while Dick held up the mattresses when Alfred brought your cups of hot cocoa to the living room, the drinks now topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. You thanked the butler and he smiled at you before he went back to the kitchen to complete his inventory, sipping his beverage along the way.
“Are you comfortable in there?” You asked Dick after a moment from the entrance of the blanket fort. He had been in charge of placing the pillows and blankets inside while you made sure the structure was stable.
“Mhm,” he positively hummed in response.
“Alright, I’m gonna give you our cups of hot cocoa then I’m gonna come in with the laptop and we can watch whatever you want,” you told him.
“Okay,” Dick said, his mood lighter.
Once the two of you were settled in the fort with your mugs, you opened the living room laptop (because of course you and Bruce had more than two laptops) and put it down between the two of you.
“So, what are we watching?” You looked at the dark haired boy to your right, waiting for his answer.
He shrugged his shoulders while drinking more of your hot cocoa. Yeah, he was gonna be a ball full of energy until way past his bedtime, but he deserved something fun and comforting. If anything, Bruce could train with him to tire him out once he was back home from work.
“Remember those songs we were listening to on the drive back from Bruce’s office last week?” You tried to jog his memory up to when you blasted Abba’s greatest hits after his first visit to Wayne Tower. You kept stealing glances in the rear view mirror the whole ride, smiling every time you saw Dick bopping his head along to the music.
The little boy nodded his head.
“Well, they made a movie where the characters are on a Greek island and sing the songs the whole time. Wanna watch that?”
Dick shrugged his shoulders. “Okay.”
You grabbed the laptop and put it in your lap as you went on Netflix and searched for Mamma Mia!. Dick took the opportunity to scoot closer to you, his small body curling around your torso, and you smiled at the fact that he was more trusting and comfortable with you.
When Bruce arrived back home, he came to a stop in front of the living room with the television in it that he was only planning on passing by while he made his way towards the staircase to get to your shared bedroom. The room was disordered and more loud than it usually was at this time of the day, which is what got his attention away from his cellphone. He loosened his tie, feeling more relaxed now that his day of work as ‘Bruce Wayne, CEO’ was over, and approached the blanket fort in the middle of the room.
“What is going on in here?” He crouched down and peaked his head inside the fort.
“So when you’re near me darling, can’t you hear me? S.O.S.,” you sang instead of answering him, index finger pointing in your husband’s direction.
Bruce sighed and rolled his eyes. “You roped him into watching Mamma Mia?” He asked with a hint of a smile.
“I didn’t rope him in,” you scoffed over Pierce Brosnan’s horrible singing. “I suggested it and Dick agreed to watch it,” you sweetly grinned at Bruce.
Dick, who was still curled against you, one arm looped with yours while the other held tight onto his elephant plushie, nodded his head to back up your claim.
Bruce then noticed the two now empty mugs, clear traces of hot cocoa on them. “Did you make hot cocoa?” He perked up, now fully smiling.
“You got this little man to thank,” you pointed to Dick. “We made a cup for you, just heat it in the microwave then you can join us.”
“I’ll be right back,” Bruce said and jogged to the kitchen where a cup of your famous hot cocoa was indeed waiting for him. He was back in the living room two minutes later, shoes and blazer off, top buttons of his shirt undone and sleeves rolled up to his elbows, ready to relax with his family.
He handed you his cup of hot cocoa for you to hold while he made his way in the blanket fort and settled on your left since the laptop was still in your lap, hence putting you in the middle. Once next to you, Bruce pecked your lips to greet you and when Dick glanced up at him, the look in his eyes wondering if he would also receive some kind of greeting, your husband affectionately ruffled his dark hair before leaning over you to plant a kiss of the top of the little boy’s head.
Bruce then made himself comfortable, also cuddling onto you, and put his head on your shoulder, a satisfied sigh escaping his lips as he did so. You handed him his mug back and the three of you continued watching Mamma Mia!, much to your happiness.
Enveloped in the warmth of your two boys squishing you from both sides, you couldn’t fight off the smile that pulled on your lips. Laying under your blanket fort with your little family, it was moments like this one that made everything else worth it.

Wrong.
“What do you mean wrong? I’ve been trying for two fucking goddamn hours?” Ellie yells tiredly, throwing her hands out in disbelief.
“Because yer hand is still too rigid,” Joel answers her, taking the guitar off her hands.
“I’m not done for today!”
“Yeah, I think you are.” Ellie turns to see you standing in the door, baby Cerise snuggling in the crook of your neck.
Ellie smiled at the sight of you, fresh out of the shower, your hair wet and wearing a tank top and sweatpants.
“When did you get home?” The girl asked.
“Maybe half an hour ago,” you say, entering the room.
“Darlin’… stop being sneaky,” Joel says.
He stands up to greet you with a kiss and then grabs Cerise from your arms.
“You stop being paranoid,” Cerise babbles as she starts pulling Joel’s hair and making you laugh. “See, even your daughter is scolding you”
Ellie looked at the sight in awe, she was just past a year old, her look every day resembling Joel’s more and more.
She was happy, her birthday was in a week, and so far, she felt at home.
Ellie had found her family. Her safe place and everything she never thought she could’ve had.
“Go and let Cerise play in the kitchen while we cook dinner,” Joel nods at your words as you smile at him.
Looks really speak; and you and Joel rarely said I love you out loud, but every look you two shared screamed how in love you were.
Ellie watches as Joel and Cerise leave towards the living room, downstairs.
“So… a week for your birthday, huh?” Ellie sighs with a smile, nodding at you. “I’m warning you, I’ll sing you ‘happy birthday’!”
“Fuck you, god no” both of you start cackling and she finally stands up.
Hands on her hips, just like Joel.
To your surprise, Ellie hugs you.
“I’m kidding. But you don’t have to do anything for me,” you hug her back, brushing her hair.
“Shut up or I’ll make Maria gather everyone to hear me sing for you.”
Soon, a lot of sound starts coming from downstairs, Cerise screaming and laughing while Joel curses.
“I NEED HELP DOWN HERE!” Ellie hears your husband yell, and both of you laugh again.
“Let’s go help your old man,” the girl says as you pat her back.
Ellie loved you very much. And she couldn’t help but feel like you felt the same way.
You were silently her mother, helpmate, and one of her best friends.
When she opened her eyes, she rubbed them and sighed, feeling the cold breeze of the morning.
It was just a dream; you and Joel were gone.
She was in Seattle.
You can’t move.
Moving feels heavy, breathing isn’t enough.
You lift your head, and there is the woman in a braid.
She is about to kill Joel…
A few years younger than you, possessing an undeniable rage, she hits Joel's skull with a golf club once, twice, and you lose the count. Your vision gets blurry thanks to the tears. His moans of extreme pain make you cry and scream to the woman to stop.
The blood stars are running down his temple. His eye was so swollen he couldn’t open it. You weep harder, doing everything you can to get free from the embrace of two strangers.
To kill that woman and let your husband live.
But it’s too much blood.
“WAKE UP, Y/N!” Joel yells.
Until there isn’t.
You open your eyes and understand it was a nightmare. Product of what you saw at the ski lodge.
“What?” you ask, still half asleep.
Joel is there, kneeling in the old, creaky bed, firmly gripping your shoulders and looking very worried.
“You started crying asleep,” he says. “And then, you started screaming.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Are you okay?” Joel asks, ignoring your apologies.
“Yes… just- what happened at the ski lodge playing with my head” his heart pang in pain at your words.
“C'mere, darlin’…” and you do, you snuggle in the arms of your husband like a baby. “I’m not goin’ anywhere”
Joel holds you tightly, scared to let you go. Both of you are swimming in the same queen-sized bed, but pressed against each other. Joel understands that if they had switched the roles. If it were him seeing how you were beaten to death, Joel wouldn’t have survived.
Let alone now that you told him about the pregnancy.
He tries to tame his fears. It wasn’t the first time after all.
But still, you were his wife, the woman he couldn’t breathe without. Joel knew he would get obsessed with trying to protect you all the way from Arlington to Jackson.
It was safe to close his eyes, so he did, succumbing to sleep with you in his arms.
Joel wakes up to a cold on, left side of the bed. He sits up worried, then hears a shot, his sensitive leg is long forgotten as he runs outside the room, towards the entrance of the house. He looks around and finally sees you with his rifle and a hare in hand. Joel lets out a relieved sigh.
“Are you insane? You scared me to death,” he says as you step up to the old porch of the house.
After seeing him so worried and scared, you quickly wrap your arms around his neck, dropping the dead hare.
“I’m sorry, Joel,” you whisper in his ear.
As much as both of you tried to continue your lives, the trauma of the ski lodge and Denver remained haunting your memories.
“Let’s go inside, baby,” you nod at him, letting him guide you inside the house.
After making it to Arlington the day before, Joel and you found an abandoned neighborhood. It reminded me a lot of the descriptions he and Tess shared about Bill and Frank’s home. Until you visited the house of the late couple in 2023 and confirmed it by yourself.
The woods around it had grown so much that the abandoned place and there was no trace of infected or people living nearby. Joel suggested staying the night, so the horse you two had could also rest and eat something.
You fell asleep feeling hungry, making it harder to not go out to hunt something to eat.
The least you could do was to find some food for your husband and the baby.
The truth was slowly sinking in. You hadn’t been able to process the fact that you were pregnant again. Hours after getting the diagnosis, Masiel almost got you, and then the hospital was attacked.
But a new life was growing in your womb. And once again, you were out in the wild with Joel, just like the first time.
You place the hare on the dining table and turn to look at your husband. With the same clothes of the day before, disheveled hair, and eye bags showing how tired he was.
Joel looks up and down at you, he places his hands on his hips, and tries to formulate a decent sentence.
“So… we’re expecting again,” he says, and you simply nod. “How far are you?”
“Almost eight weeks,” god knows why, but suddenly the conversation feels awkward.
You cross your arms, leaning against the old dining table.
“You can’t be out here anymore,” Joel starts, already showing his uneasiness on the issue. “It’s not safe.”
“This ain’t my first rodeo, Joel,” you remind him as he sighs and rolls his eyes. “I knew the risk, but it’s not like you pulled out each night, and despite being at a hospital, condoms are not a trend anymore.”
“The sooner we get to Jackson, the sooner I’ll stop being a burden for you.” Turning around, you start to skin the hare.
“That’s not what I meant,” Joel explains.
“But that’s what it sounded like,” you say, venturing inside the kitchen without looking at him. Your eyes prick with tears, and you do your best to swallow the painful lump in your throat, threatening to come out with a loud sob.
Joel sighs once again, dropping his head back and taking a deep breath.
But you did understand, Joel. He was tired, dealing with ptsd. The least he wanted was more pressure. And you tell him his wife is pregnant? Yeah, he was stressed out.
But in the mind of a woman gestating, your emotions were a little out of control. And you were afraid of indeed feeling like a burden before going home. Where more issues would lurk since nobody knew Joel, and you were alive.
A family of four lived inside the house. Two teenagers, mom and dad. They had too many pictures together, framed on the dusty wall in the hallway that connected all the rooms on the second floor.
You enter the master bedroom, completely untouched. The living proof that the world was once fine. The shame of wandering through a stranger’s belongings was long gone. The woman of the house had been tall, frail, and had a shy face, but was very pretty. Still, her clothes fit you, and she had a lot of expired makeup.
Your hands fold three tops to put inside your backpack when the door creaks open, and it makes you alert and startled.
It was Joel, fresh out of the shower. You went first, and the water was flowing brown for the first three minutes.
“You scared me,” you say, returning to fold the clothes.
“I’m sorry,” Joel states, but you just shrug.
“It’s okay, this house is old as hell.”
“No, I mean I’m sorry about me being an asshole before” you look up at him.
“It’s not like the first time. I’m just… shocked,” he admits, taking a seat in the bed where you were folding the clothes. There’s a little expression of awe on your face as you listen to him.
“I get it, Joel,” from the bottom of your heart, you mean it.
“I just want to protect you and make sure we make it back home.”
“I think the worst is over. We were with the enemy for months, and we didn’t know,” Joel nods.
“So WLF?…” he asks, sighing.
“They can go and fuck themselves” you say with a bitter smile. “I don’t think they’ll go back to Wyoming. Their policies only apply in big cities where they can afford the risk of making a settlement.”
“Yeah, but what if?- “You grab Joel’s hand to stop him.
“What? They return to the ski lodge to see that our bodies are gone? Or Ellie goes after them for revenge?” Both of you chuckle. “We’ve already taken too long; we need to go back. I can’t keep going to sleep knowing they think we’re dead.”
“I know, darlin’. We are very close…”
Unbeknownst to you and Joel. Not many good things were happening back in Jackson. And certainly not in Seattle.
“So… you are making me a dad again? At the ripe age of 61?” You chuckle at his comment, letting him grasp your hair. “We’re insane, aren’t we?”
“We’re kinda jinxed,” you admit.
“We are. But I don’t mind as long as we’re together,” Joel says, making you unable to not pretend his words didn’t touch your heart.
“Give me a kiss,” you say, stepping between his legs. He smiles amidst the kiss, feeling his chest relax and trying to be optimistic. Just for you, as always.
Drops of rain start tapping against the window, and both of you look at it.
“We’ll leave tomorrow in the morning,” Joel states firmly, you only nod, retuning to kiss him just a little more.
The breeze was humid, hot, and you knew you shouldn’t be wearing a dress when you’re out in the wild. But you don’t care, the isolated street in Arlington had proved to be safe enough.
“What are we exactly looking for?” Joel asks, kneeling beside you. Both of you ignore the loud crack of his bones. Mainly because you won’t want to worry.
“Anything that can give us energy or boost our immune system,” you answer with a little smirk.
Your hands dig into the bushes, spider webs gone thanks to the rain that had been pouring for the last two hours.
“I dunno, darlin’… seems like there’s no such thing” at your husband was killing your hope, you shushed him right after grasping something. “What?”
“Oh my god, Joel…”
Fresh raspberries. You were collecting raspberries. You had never tasted them before.
“I had never tasted raspberries in my life,” you say, pulling out your hand from the bushes, at least four raspberries rested in your palm.
Joel smiled at the sight. Seeing you so happy about something so meaningless as finding raspberries reminded him of what the world had reduced to.
And at the same time, he found himself also enjoying the moment. Because anything that made you happy also made him happy.
“Give some water, please.” he hands you a glass with water he had been drinking inside the house.
You rinse the berries, and soon you are handing him some. Joel smiles at you before taking a bite along with you.
The moment feels surreal. Like a deep breath that you had been holding since the day at the ski lodge. A sense of hope that in a couple of days you’ll be in Jackson and everything will be fine again.
Then… birds flying away, scared.
“What was that?” Joel stands up first.
When you do, you see a lot of birds flying away from a trail of dark smoke coming from the south in the woods. “Change of plans, we need to leave now.”
“But we have our-“
“No… y/n, we are leaving right now,” Joel says with a stern look.
You nod, following him with hurried steps inside the house.
You grab your rifle, the food was packed, and the clothes tucked inside the backpacks.
“Fucking hell” you say as you stand in the porch. Joel follows you and stands.
“What?”
“The horse, Joel… is gone,” you say, pointing at the door of the garage.
Your husband sighs tiredly.
“Doesn’t matter. We’ll get a car once we enter the city again; we need to leave.”
You look back at the smoke, looking fainter than before, mixing with the orange sky of the sunset.
You start following Joel with quick steps., your hands holding the rifle as your fingers barely grasped the trigger. Then you see how the large street of old houses starts looking farther and farther, until it disappears from your sight and both of you enter the woods again. To the north…
Ellie stands in the darkness, her heart is beating fast, blood rushing with the adrenaline flowing all over.
Some of Nora’s blood was splattered on her face. But her shaky hands gripped the door frame as she watched Tommy bandage Dina’s leg, and Tommy started an improvised meal for her.
“She’s taking longer than expected,” Jesse says.
“She’s coming back, we know it,” Dina bolts to answer him. Ellie knew they were talking about her.
“This was a bad idea,” Tommy adds.
“Tommy. She doing this for”
“For Joel and y/n. I know…” the man glared at Dina.
A heavy silence fell upon the old room.
“She saw all of it. Joel screaming, y/n crying, and-“ as Dina was speaking, Ellie closed her eyes, forcing herself to avoid remembering.
“They might be alive,” Tommy reveals.
Dina seized talking, Ellie gasped, covering her mouth as tears started to roll down her cheeks.
“What?” Dina asks with a broken voice, face full of surprise.
Jesse eyed her with shame. Ellie realized he probably already knew.
Tommy moved away, sighing before standing up and preparing the right words.
“When the horde came, we were out of reach for weeks; we didn’t do patrols,” Dina nodded, urging him to keep talking. “After the reconstruction of Jackson, the snow fell heavier, and we couldn’t reach the ski lodge to collect the bodies. Until the spring arrived, Maria sent Jessie to look again with others.”
Tommy and Jesse eye each other, building tension.
“And?” Dina asked.
“There were no corpses… their backpacks were gone as well,” Jesse said.
Dina sighed, rubbing her eyes.
Ellie almost fainted. Her view turned blurry, and panic flooded her.
The rage she had been containing completely out. She hated even more Nora, her death being proof of her pain. All the trauma, all the suffering… because of that braided woman.
Ellie knew she had to kill Abby.
The sound of the river was loud enough to make you almost yell.
Ellie knew she was dreaming. This time, she was aware it was a memory.
She was still in Utah. Joel was leaning against the SUV, rifle in hand, as you were with the girl.
Both of you are still in hospital gowns, splashing water on your faces after hours of being sedated.
“There was no cure, right?” Ellie asks. You shrug, looking at the water flowing.
“Even if there was a cure. I think we would’ve died, Ellie.”
“You have Joel, you have someone waiting for you.” You turn to look at her with a frown. “I don’t. It would’ve been correct for me to make the sacrifice.”
“Ellie… you’re my family,” you firmly say. “You and Joel are my whole world.”
She only eyes you with awe, not knowing what to say. Maybe it was because of the reaction to the sedative.
“I would kill anyone who made me separate from you two,” you admit.
Evidently, the words sank further as time progressed.

Batfam and Danny, Part 8
Jason and Danny leaving Catholic Mass.
Danny: That was sooo long.
Jason: Yeah, Father Henry spoke at length today.
Danny: I know the exodus is important and all, but there was no need for that to last 3 hours. Besides the man is ancient, how does he have that much energy?
Jason: I've been asking myself that for years. Our lead pipe issue here was so bad, the man should be long dead.
Danny: Had? Let me guess, Bruce paid to have them replaced?
Jason: Yup. Speaking of Bruce, want to go to the manor?
Danny: Sure why not?
Jason picked up his phone and called Alfred to pick them up.
Jason: Alfred should be here in five minutes or so.
Danny: Why don't we just fly there? I can carry you with me.
Jason: Kid, last thing I need is for you to be declared the anti-Christ by Father Henry.
Danny: I'm not even a baptized Catholic so...
Jason: What even are you?
Danny: Well I was raised Protestant, but after the whole ghost king thing, I more or less converted to the main religion of the Infinite Realms, called Infini. It's basically the worship of the multiverse itself.
Jason: I was half expecting you to say you were a figure of worship yourself.
Danny: No, the old king made himself a figure of worship. Once I took his place I put a stop to that.
Jason: Damn, I wouldn't have.
Danny: Luckily you're not king.
Jason: I think it's for the best.
Danny: Hmm, what about everyone else? I know Bruce is Reformed Jewish, he's taken all of us to his synagogue.
Jason: Oh, we are very religiously diverse, let me think. Alfred is Anglican/Church of England, Dick and Duke are non-denominational protestants, Tim and Barbara are Agnostic, Steph is an Eclectic Pagan, Cass is Buddhist, and Damian is Muslim. He laughed. Poor Bruce has to keep up with so many holidays.
Danny: Is that why we never do any vigilante stuff on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays?
Jason: Yes, Bruce made that clear to the rouges years ago. Besides they like the days off to make their plans.
Danny: How nice of them?
Jason: One time the Penguin tried to rob a bank on a Saturday and Bruce landed him in the ICU for a month. No one dared brake Batman's "days of rest rule" after that.
Danny: Is that why his nose looks weird?
Jason: No, he was born like that.
Danny: Hmm, follow up question why don't the others join us for mass?
Jason: Father Henry has banned from attending, after they almost burnt the church down.
Danny: They almost burn the church down!?
Jason: Long story, Father Henry has never forgiven them.
Danny: I think Big J might disagree with that.
Jason: Did you just call Jesus "Big J?"
Danny: Yes, and he cheats in Monopoly.
Jason: You've played Monopoly... with Jesus...?
Danny: Yes, it was the Annual Abrahamic Figures Assembly. That game of Monopoly was between Jesus, Abraham, Moses, Ramses, Muhammad, and myself. And Jesus was cheating! He had half the railroads, houses, hotels, and was stealing everyone's money!
Jason: Hold up, Ramses was there?
Danny: Yeah, Moses and Ramses reconciled when they reunited in the afterlife.
Jason: And you attended a gathering of Abrahamic figures?
Danny: Yes.
Jason: ...I sometimes forget you're basically a god.
Danny: Yeah... I sometimes forget that myself. They looked at each other. Oh! Also Mary makes one hell of a challah.
Jason (ruffling Danny's hair): You never stop surprising me kid.
Danny: And I have no plans on stopping.
Jason: Nor would I want you to.
Alfred rolled up in front of them.
Jason: Well Alfred's here, let's go kid.

Day 12: Time Travel
“Sooooo Phantom, do ya have any siblings?” Kid Flash asked as he tried to make small talk with the newest recruit to the team.
A few days ago, Young Justice was called to a meeting by Batman where he introduced their new team mate, Phantom. Phantom was a tough looking dude, he was jacked and towered over them all, even Conner!
Batman didn’t give them much information about the guy but apparently John Constentine was the one who suggested him for the team since he needed “community service hours”.
The dude was currently drinking some soda next to the computer as Red Robin searched for any new info on their latest mission. He turned his attention away from the can, and stared at Wally, his red eyes piercing into his soul.
“Why?”
“Well we are all about to go on a mission together and none of us really know you so I think it’d be best if we all got to know you better,” that was half true. Mostly Wally was just being nosey, but the dude really did make everyone nervous since he was this really tough dude with blood red eyes and apparently was here because John Constentine said he needed community service hours???? Constentine typically say some wild shit, but what the fuck do you mean by community service? Wally knows you can’t use those for school, he’s tried, and what else gave you community service? Juvie and prison!!
Phantom stared at him hard for a few seconds, his eyes searing into the back of Wally’s skull before saying, “Okay fine”.
The answer surprised everyone in the room, I mean the guy had barely even spoken the last few days and had rejected every question about his personal life.
“Depending on how you see it, I have 2 to 4 siblings”
“Is your father a serial adopter too?” Tim joked.
“Yes and no”
“Huh?”
“It’s pretty complicated,” Phantom shrugged, seemingly deciding to end the conversation there and taking another swig of his drink.
However, Tim, out of annoyances of every attempt to get to know this jerk being thwarted and a bit of confidence his family was more complicated, decided to challenge Phantom’s statement.
“Ehh, it probably isn’t as complicated as my family, we got about 50 more siblings adopted each month, all with lots much trauma”
At this, Phantom narrowed his eyes at Tim.
“I see what your doing, your trying to get me to talk tell you guy more about my family by acting like yours are more insane”
“Am I?” Tim asked, trying to hide the shivers going down his spine from the way Phantom was staring at him.
Phantom to a huge swig of his soda, emptying it and throwing it into the garbage, before fully turning to Tim.
“You’re lucky I am always good for competitions, now sit down this is going to take a bit”
Tim gladly obliged and soon everyone sat around Phantom as if it were storytime in kindergarten.
“Okay, so at first I only had an older sister and my parents” Phantom began, “but then they died because of a mistake I made and I had to move in with my evil godfather”
Megan raised her hand and asked, “Isn’t a godfather someone who is very close to the family? Why would your parents choose an evil person?”
“‘Cause my dad was oblivious to this and though they were good friends even though the dudes tried to kill him multiple times”
“I see,” Megan lowered her hand, no less confused.
“There I went mad with grief and had him remove my humanity and tried to kill all of humanity”
“I think that was a bit of an overreaction,” Wally joked.
“You tried to kill all of humanity? Why weren’t we told of this when it happened?” Kaldur'ahm asked.
“That was in a different timeline, I was a big enough problem that they gods tried to kill the younger version of me to stop me, so to avoid dying, my younger version decide to try to defeat me and the only reason he did was cause I was underestimating him,” Phantom emphasized the last part because he had to stress he didn’t not lose to a 15 year old boy because he was weaker than him.
“What happened next?,” Artemis asked, completely inraptured in the story.
“I was then imprisoned for sometime before escaping, causing problems and then realizing that causing younger mean the same pain I experienced won't bring my loved ones back,” Phantom continued to explain, “so I am now going to therapy, doing community service, and got the majority of my powers taken away”.
“Is your therapist open to seeing new patients?” Konner asked.
“No, but this timelines version of my sister is and she has a lot of experience so I can give you her number instead”
“Sure, that’ll work”
“Okay,” Phantom said before writing her number down and handing it to Konner, “The thing is I can’t go back to living with my real parents because they don’t know that I am Phantom so I have to go back to living this timelines version of my godfather”
“You gotta be kidding me” Tim groans.
“Exactly what I said!!” Phantom put his arm up defensively, “Fortunately, this version is a little better, he is no longer tiring to kill my dad and has stopped chasing after my mom, he did clone the other of me and now there is a genderbent version of him but my godfather treats her like a princess and will not stop spoiling her, which I am also guilty of”
Phantoms continues to explain more and in the back of Tim's mind he remembers he was supposed to be doing something but honestly this conversation was too good to care.
“Anyways that's how I technically have 2 to 4 siblings, Jazz and Elle are permanently my sisters and I love them so much, and even though the other Jazz is technically the same as this Jazz, I still think of her as someone else, someone I miss dearly. Also if I considered this Jazz my sister, I guess I’d have to considered the other me as my brother”
“Damn bitch your family is crazy” Wally said, happy he finally managed to get through Phantom’s tough skin.
As they finished up their storytime, the Zeta-tubes activated and Red Tornado and an upset looking Batman walked to the group.
“You all were supposed to leave thirty minutes ago”
