The Heathers + Veronica go to Comic Con

Once a year the Heathers and Veronica go to their local Comic Con

'Local' is a stretch, its obviously not in Sherwood bc why would anyone in their right mind actually go there, so they drive to Columbus

They make a little trip out of it, none of them want to drive there, spend all day at the convention, and then drive all the way back

They take Duke's jeep bc its the only car that can hold all the crap they buy

Its around a 3 hour drive to Columbus, so they leave around noon the day before

Duke drives, her jeep is her baby and she will not let anyone else touch her under fear of death

Chandler rides shotgun, she gets carsick easily and being in the front helps with that

That leaves Veronica and Mac in the back

Chandler is a backseat driver, she is constantly criticizing Duke's driving, and if she goes even a single mph above the speed limit no one will hear the end of it

She's a massive hypocrite bc her driving is very reckless, but she insists that she knows what she is doing, unlike Duke and her 'monster truck lookin ass car'

Duke of course takes great offense to someone insulting her baby and they have a fight which lasts for five minutes at most before they get over it

Because of this Veronica and Mac bring noise cancelling headphones and nap the entire time

Chandler is also the person who makes them stop every five minutes bc she has to go the bathroom or she's hungry or whatever

By the time they get to the hotel Duke is about to kill Chandler while she's just thankful that the ride is over

They stay at some upscale hotel near the convention center

Once they settle in, they head to the pool with the attached hot tub

Chandler and Mac relax in the hot tub while Duke and Veronica take a dip in the pool

As revenge for being a pain in the ass during the car ride, Duke splashes the cold water onto Chandler and laughs while she flips out

They dry off and head back to the room, where they get to bed early

They have to wake up early to get their cosplays on

Duke and Veronica sleep together while Chandler and Mac take the other bed

Veronica set an alarm for like 3am

When it goes off she has to rush downstairs to get coffee (and tea for Mac) for her gfs so they won't be cranky

They quickly shower and get their cosplays ready

Some of the cosplays they've done include

Kessoku Band from Bocchi the Rock! (Mac was Nijika, Chandler was Kita, Veronica was Ryo, Duke was Bocchi)

Duke had to be Bocchi bc she was the only one who didn't have a character who matched with her color

The Gaang from Avatar The Last Airbender (Mac was Aang, Chandler was Katara, Veronica was Sokka, Duke was Toph)

The original animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's (Mac was Chica, Chandler was Freddy, Veronica was Bonnie, Duke was Foxy)

Duke and Chandler fought over who got to be Foxy, Chandler said it should be her bc red is her color, but then Duke guilt tripped her and she gave in

Disney Princesses (Mac was Belle, Chandler was Aurora, Veronica was Cinderella, Duke was Mulan)

Originally they wanted to do The Wizard of Oz but then they saw Wicked and Mac really wanted to be Glinda so they went with that (Chandler was the Wizard, Veronica was Fiyero, Duke was Elphaba)

They then cross the street and head to the convention center

Once they get in they head to the Celebrity Area

The convention isn't exactly the biggest or most prestigious, but they still get a decent few celebrities

They brought a few things with them to get signed like funko pops or posters, and they'll spread out and meet who they want to

Veronica refuses to get anything signed by the anime VAs who are there bc she is a sub purist and refuses to watch dubbed

Once they finish up there they'll usually attend a few panels before heading to the Marketplace, which is where they spend most of their time

While they walk around people are constantly coming up to them asking to take pictures bc their cosplays are just that good

They also sometimes see Betty, Martha and JD there

Betty and Martha usually go as Wesley and Buttercup (who could've seen that coming) while JD does just the weirdest ones like Slenderman

They buy so much stuff, it's just crazy

They have to make so many trips back to the room to drop off their stuff so they're able to carry more

Chandler buys the least out of them bc she's the least nerdy, but she gets the occasional poster, figure, or the like, which is something they all get

Mac gets so many plushies

She is trying to collect a plush for every single pokemon, of which there are 1025, so she is constantly searching for the less popular ones and the ones only available in Japan

Duke and Veronica both are looking for collectibles, and they are both running ahead of the other to try and get a rare figure or funko before the other can see it

Duke is also a dice gremlin, and she can spend a good half hour looking through dice, trying to remember if she has this color or pattern already

One time Veronica bought a body pillow and Chandler was just so embarrassed that she refused to talk to Veronica for the rest of the day

Once they've scavenged the convention for all its goodies they'll return to the room and pass out as soon as they take off their cosplay

Once they wake up and have had their drinks they spend an hour trying to fit all their purchases into Duke's Jeep

It's like playing Tetris except they have to be extra careful bc if a box gets damaged then someone is gonna get mad

i know it’s popular for the fandom to view elphaba as having zero knowledge about fashion, and while i do think that is much glinda’s fare, i don’t think elphie is totally fashionably inept. like, if you look at every single outfit she wears in the musical, they all really compliment her colorwise. like even the blue frock she wears at the beginning goes really well with green! and like, the obvious answer is that wicked is a musical so of course the main character is going to be in outfits that work with her being green, but they could have also gone the other route and made her pre-popular clothing clash with green but they didn’t. i don’t know what that says about elphaba’s character, if anything, i just think it’s a neat little detail.

I like this take!! Elphaba is not *clueless* when it comes to fashion! Honestly I'm glad they didn't give her the "Ugly Betty" treatment and only make her conventionally pretty after Popular

Honestly, if you think about it, "Popular" while sort of being a makeover.... literally all Glinda does is take elphaba's hair out of the braid, put on a little lip gloss, and put a flower in her hair and then all of a sudden its "Miss Elphaba, you're beautiful!!" So really the 'beautification' scene in wicked involves very little change-- Elphaba was beautiful all along!

(Also, hot take, Elphaba's "Galinda-fied" outfit, with the white jacket? My least favorite costume in the whole show...)

Okay so obviously Aoinene are THE couple to do matching costumes on Halloween every year. Duh. Here are some of the ones I think they would do:

• Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Obviously. This is a wlw right of passage. Nene is Harley and Aoi is Ivy

• Glinda and Elphaba/The Wicked Witch Of The West. Nene is Glinda and Aoi is Elphaba, though they fought on this one because they both wanted each other to be Glinda (Nene ended up falling for Aoi’s flattery and agreeing to be Glinda bcuz that girl is down bad)

• A mermaid and a sailor, this one is pretty obvious but Nene is the mermaid

• Witch girlfriends or a witch and a vampire. Very much HKOM vibes, if it’s the second option then Nene is the vampire (trust)

• Betty and Veronica, Nene is Betty and Aoi is Veronica. Bonus: Teru and Akane tagged along as Jughead and Archie respectively

• An angel and a devil, this one’s a classic. Nene is the angel and Aoi is the devil

• They attended a party as Ghostface one year but they kept swapping the costume (or they wore two separate ones) to confuse ppl

Since the start of the tour, the troupe always put on an event for various holidays, including Halloween. It was pretty much just an extra way to sell more war bonds, get pictures with Captain America and the Star Spangled Singers, buy some merch. Since the Captain America shorts started playing, other things featuring him started popping up like action figures and even comic books.

The unfortunate part was that even though they were encouraged to dress up, it had to be appropriate. Which meant, nothing scary, nothing sexy, and it had to be All American. Virginia had wanted to be the Bride of Frankenstein but it was deemed inappropriate, which rather annoyed her. Nonetheless, she carried on and decided to be Glinda the Good Witch with Betty as Dorothy. It was cute and she knew that the kids would like it.

Ginny hurried over to Steve's room and knocked rhythmically against the door. "Stevie, we're all leaving! Got your booty out here!" She teased him.

The Heathers + Veronica and Halloween

Jello Shots it's Halloween, Liver Spots it's Halloween

Halloween is probably the holiday that the residents of the Chandler-Duke-McNamara-Sawyer household look forward to the most

Mac still maintains that Christmas is better, but even so she still gets super excited when October rolls around

The four of them go all out for the holiday

They build a giant graveyard in their lawn

They've bought custom fake tombstones that have their names written on them, about 7 skeleton's worth of fake bones, bags of spiderwebs, giant spiders, several animatronic ghosts, the list goes on

It takes a while to set up just because of the sheer amount of stuff, but when it's done it looks amazing

People will come from miles around to see their decorations and take pictures, and their house has ended up on Youtube and even on the local news a few times

The main attraction is the giant skeleton that Chandler got one time

It's easily three stories tall and has to be stored in a warehouse whenever it's not in use, but it is terrifying seeing this giant skeleton tower over the already massive mansion

It also has to be put up by helicopter, which is not cheap

Chandler had gotten it as a prank

The others were being very annoying (they beat her at Mario Party and she is the pettiest of bitches) so she decided to prank them and did so with some Halloween spirit

The idea was that they would come home from work and see this giant skeleton and freak out, but what really happened was that they got home and were amazed at how cool and scary their house looked

She got upset because they were supposed to be scared, to which they said "Heather it's literally 3 fucking stories tall we could see it from miles away"

His name is Mr. Skel Eton (it was Mac's choice, Chandler thought it was dumb but Duke and Veronica liked it and it stuck) and every year they look forward to his installation and dread paying for his removal

Around the middle of the month Mac will come to them with her costume theme

Her and Chandler had always done themed costumes when they were kids, like Anna and Elsa or the Powerpuff Girls (Mac was Bubbles, Chandler was Blossom), a tradition which they continued into adulthood

Some of the costumes they've done include;

South Park: (Chandler as Cartman, Duke as Kyle, Veronica as Stan and Mac as Kenny)

The Wizard of Oz: (Chandler as Glinda the Good, Duke as the Wicked Witch, Veronica as the Scarecrow, Mac as Dorothy)

Spongebob: (Chandler as Mr. Krabs, Duke as Squidward, Veronica as Patrick, Mac as Spongebob)

The Nightmare before Christmas: (Chandler as Sandy Claws, Duke as the Oogie Boogie, Veronica as Jack, Mac as Sally)

Scooby-Doo: (Chandler as Daphne, Duke as Velma, Veronica as Shaggy, Mac as Fred)

Teletubbies: (Chandler as Po, Duke as Dipsy, Veronica as Tinky-Winky, Mac as La-La)

Sometimes they re-use these costumes for Comic-Con

Sometimes they get Betty and Martha to abandon their usual Wesley and Buttercup costumes and go with them, for instance during the year they did Wizard of Oz they went as the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Man, but some years they year the theme and say hell no

Such was the case during the Teletubbies year

Chandler had tried to nope out of that one too but Veronica and Duke told her that if they had to be humiliated so did she

JD also gets roped into this, but he doesn't have a choice in the matter

Veronica will just send him a text saying "You're gonna be XXX this year" and if he tries to refuse Chandler and Duke will get increasingly petty and bother him until he accepts

They made him go as Noo-Noo the Teletubbies year and he literally glued a vacuum to his nose

He didn't speak to any of them for a good few weeks

If they don't need him to join with the theme he'll dress as Jason Vorhees and hide in their bushes, jumping out if someone gets too close

Mac was kinda upset by this, but he reassured her he only does it to people who look like dicks and never kids, so she just kinda accepts it

During the Halloween season they'll watch some appropriate movies

Chandler, under absolutely no circumstances will watch a horror film

She despises them with every fiber of her being, if she sees Veronica or Duke watching one she will go sit outside or go to 7/11 until its over

Mac also gets nightmares if she watches one

One time they watched The Shining and Mac insisted that she is an adult, she can handle a stupid movie

She could not

They had to sleep with the lights on for weeks after

That being the case they usually stick to PG films

Of course that comes with its own issues

None of them can agree wether A Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas or Halloween movie, if they play it in October Veronica and Chandler say that its too early, if they play it after Duke and Mac say that its too late

They tried to watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown but they all got so pissed off at how stupid Linus was being that they had to shut it off

Hocus Pocus and Coraline are good options that don't result in an argument breaking out

Their favorite Halloween movies;

Mac - Muppets Haunted Mansion

The latter is a point of contention

The other three think that its stupid, but Mac loves both the Muppets and Haunted Mansion and even if they Kermit puppeteer doesn't sound quite right she still loves the movie

As for candy, their house is usually filled to the brim with sweets but this gets even worse around Halloween

They'll go to Costco the week before to load up on the boxes of the full sized Hershey bars and the like, but Chandler has to hide them so her wives don't eat them all

She made that mistake once, and none of her wives could hear straight for a week after the yelling spiel she went on

"WE ARE ADULTS, IF YOU WANT CANDY GO TO THE FUCKING STORE AND BUY YOUR OWN, WHY DO YOU IMBICILES INSIST ON STEALING THE ONES FOR HALLOWEEN WHEN YOU KNOW THAT THE STORES ARE GONNA BE SOLD OUT SOON..." and she went on and on and on and on

Like literally everything else in their lives they argue over candy corn

Mac and Veronica love it, Duke and Chandler would rather eat cow manure

Chandler absolutely refuses to buy any on her shopping trips or even let it in her kitchen so they have to keep bowls in their rooms

Eventually Halloween night rolls around

Their house is well known for being one that gives out full size candy bars, so people will travel near and far to get some

It got so bad one year that they eventually limited it to one bar per person per night, but to make up for it they bought a giant cauldron and filled it with smaller candy and everyone was allowed to grab as much as they could in a single handful

Some people have gotten creative with the word handful, making things like giant hands to grab more candy

Usually the four of them will hand out the big candy and Martha and Betty will handle the smaller candy, making sure no one is coming back for seconds

While she is handing out the candy Chandler reflects on her past

Her mother was vehemently against Halloween, claiming it to be the devil's holiday and forbidding Chandler to participate

On Halloween itself she would drop Chandler off at Mac's Dad's, going to church to pray for the salvation of humanity or whatever and not wanting the others to see the evidence of her sin (Chandler)

Mac's Dad thankfully wasn't a massive prick like Chandler's and would buy a costume for Chandler in secret and let her and Mac go trick or treating

The night always ended too fast, Chandler being forced to give her candy to Mac to hide the evidence from her mom, but she never forgot those happy memories they shared

And in the present, she can't help but give some extra candy to the kids she sees trick or treating with their friends, seeing her and Mac in them
