I’m so glad you noticed this, because I couldn’t figure out how to work it into their dialogue in the comic, but YUP—

My thoughts for this particular comic series were that Chuuya is a creature of habit, and Dazai is a weirdo(affectionate) who memorized all Chuuya’s weekly scheduling habits back when they were in the mafia (for strategic purposes, he will insist) and Chuuya hasn’t really deviated from those habits since, so Dazai will periodically have moments like this throughout his day:

…so yeah, after Ranpo convinced Dazai to go clear things up with Chuuya, Dazai ran across the city while doing intense internal calculations to take all known variables into account, and finally decided that Chuuya had to be shopping at that particular grocery store :0

You’re in luck anon, these two were next on my list! Castle McDuff grants immortality to those who reside in its walls, keeping them at a set age. However, these two don’t live there full time. Tilly stays alive because she constantly alternates between living there and not, and Hortense has her own methods of avoiding aging. As a result, all three McDuff siblings have quite varying physical ages, Scrooge appears to be a surpassingly spry eighty something year old, Matilda looks to be in her early sixties, and Hortense in her late forties to mid fifties.

finally read the beau tmn origins comic and i didnt like it very much T_T .. .. like it was fine . too short as per usuall (also i never like the very generic designs for the panels/speech bubbles/sound effects in any of these but whatever). anyway , choosing to focus on this wine selling scheme instead of the cobalt soul at all was weird, especially because it's so short. and also without knowledge of cr2 to back it up i feel like you cant even particularly tell that beau's dad is abusive until he's suddenly having her kidnapped. (tho i did like that they kept her mum's characterisation of being so passive abt it all. like beau actively asking her for help and her just saying nothing in return. heart breaking). i just think also the art wasn't very good. beau didn't look like beau, the faces would kind of melt, some of the line art seemed both stiff and clumsy at once , and that stamp brush for the entirety of the vineyards was wild to me. in a professionally published book.. the characters would just be laid overtop of it too, not even walking behind the rows of vines 😭

Literally going insane, might have to write fanfic for the first time in 2 years because the people™️ do not get my favorite female characters like I do and I feel the insurmountable urge to write her. I’m going to bite drywall why don’t ppl see her complexities. PLEASE STOP WRITING HER ETHIER AS DOMICILE MOM OR BITCH (or just for shipping) she is so so cool please guys please.

Also while I’m here, fandoms tendency to shove women in the ‘pure powerful goddess who can do no wrong’ box and then proceed to never give them an actual narrative role other than like ‘supportive’ or ‘took out a few background guys’. Like why DOES this incredibly badass and complex female character just get shunted into doinging some cool flips, getting praised about it (she’s the strongest fighter, so feminist wow) then never getting actnowleged as a 2 dimensional character.

I saw this a lot when I was in the Batman fandom, particularly with Cassandra Cain. She is a highly complex and interesting character, but in fandom she’s kind of shunted to ‘Badass therapy dog who takes care of the men’. Because even on the slight chance her backstory is brought up it’s always never delved into and mostly used to make her etheir more tragic and in need of support on a surface level or to let her be compassionate with the men characters who get their actual problems foucused on. It’s a unqiue kind of frustrating because it’s like almost letting the cool female character be cool, but it’s more like the idea of a badass women is shoved in your face, maybe joked about (or if we’re lucky she gets to beat up a few bad-guys), but ultimately treated like a cardboard cutout. Interestingly this actually isn’t entirely a female character thing, it’s also common with like old grandfather/grandmother characters and the elderly in general. But it’s usually badass women from what I see. :/ Why can’t fandom explore their stories (people do but why is it so much less), why can’t they be the prtags of cool AUs or time-travel fix-its, or crossover events

Idk I think I’m just frustrated, and I typed out more than I thought I would. Also Ive seen what happens to some other posts complaining about fandom misogyny, so please know if you’re a TERF, fuck off you have no place in this discussion. We will never agree, and frankly all of these points apply to canon Trans Women characters. Don’t say shit ill fucking end you.

Thinking about Carter trying to help Percy go out and do things again as he slowly gets better so he tries to figure out stuff that Percy likes that's not just swimming. And Percy says he likes skateboarding so Carter get himself a skateboard and protective gear and gets ready to make an idiot of himself at a nearby skatepark and Percy's decent but he's so. Unengaged with it. They go out once and then never again. But when pressed Percy insists he does like skateboarding.

So Carter tries again. What else. What things did he do as a kid? What did he do when he had free time? What made him happy? And of course there's swimming but even with a pool right across from him, Percy doesn't really use it. At some point he admits he didn't swim as much as people might expect as a kid. For a long time, he needed an adult with him to have access to the public pools and his mom was busy and Gabe wasn't going to go with him. But he likes swimming. He does!

Contrary to popular belief, he was quiet kid. A homebody. He didn't have friends. He didn't have money. He didn't go out. He didn't do things. He had two video games for a GameCube console that he never got to use because Gabe hogged the TV. He had a box of cheap PC games no one ever heard of that were kinda fun but the computer took ten years to load and when Gabe came around, he hogged that too.

Outside the house, he sorted through trash for recycling to donate for coins. Hung out at the candy shop with his mom when he could. Bought a macrame set and made ornaments to sell to neighbors for the holidays. Picked up skateboarding because it looked cool, it was free, the board was cheap, and he needed a reason to not go home because Gabe was there.

He never really considered the question before. Maybe because, like now, he knew deep down asking himself "what do I like" would open up a can of worms he didn't want to sort through. He didn't need to know. He knew the reality. There was nothing good in that can. Just worms all the way down.

"Annabeth and I would go to museums," he says, flicking a piece of lint on the carpet.

Carter doesn't even look up from his computer. "Do you like going to museums?"

"Annabeth likes it," Percy says.

"But do you like it?"

Percy pauses. Then, "The tours are okay."

"So no." Carter clicks his tongue. His brows furrow. Percy wants to smooth it out. Make it go away. How can he make it go away? He put it there, he needs to make it go away.

He flicks the lint again. It tumbles once. "Sorry."

Carter's gaze flickers. "Why are you apologizing?"

"I don't know." Because I'm stupid and empty and a burden, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Without looking away from his laptop, Carter reaches out and pinches Percy's cheek. "You said you sold macrame a couple times. What about that? What if you picked it up again?"

Percy rolls his finger over the lint. It balls up. Fuzzy. Gray. Small. Flattens smooth and thin as he presses down. "Sure." Maybe he could make a tiny cactus for Grover. He moves his hand but the lint stays flat. Thin. Unable, unwilling to separate from the curls of the carpet. Pathetic. "Let's try it."
