Thinking a lot about the dream scene in Electric Dreams.

Miles tells Edgar that "a dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep" when Edgar asks what a dream is. Right after that scene, Edgar gives himself a human name, then imagines himself as a human- his wish is to be human because he believes it's the only way he could be capable of love.

The lyric "inside emotions that you might not feel, if by some notion the dream was not real" i think represents that fear that he'll never really know what love is- set in by the line between him and Miles- "It came from deep inside of me, she made me feel-" "She made you feel! That's good! That's perfect! That's-" "Love!" "Well, no, but it's good enough for a song."

I also like to connect two lines. The lyric from The Dream:

"Lovers can dream, devils can dream"

to the message that displays on Edgar's screen near the end of the movie-

"If love is greater than me, but Moles is lesser than love"

Edgar considers himself incapable of love. Love is greater than him, something he doesn't think he can achieve. But to connect Miles to "devils," he believes that what Miles is doing is also not love, but lesser than love. He may not think he knows love, but he does know that Miles doesn't either.
