Being okay with your body starts with looking in the mirroring and acknowledging what you see. Day after day you peer into the reflection that stares back and you listen to the words that pop up in your mind. Hateful words spilled between mistakes made and every new discovery. With each negative criticism that rushes in our angry inner critic takes a seat to get comfortable. Instead of pulling up a chair we replace those words with something kind no matter how silly. Before you know it you'll look up one day and that kind silly thought will begin to bubble to the surface more quickly with ease and what once was a seething rage turns into a timid fondness. When fondness finds it's way to reciprocal love you have found the one. The person who will always find a way get you back to neutral ground. YOU. Update

I’m so sorry, at the moment I’m just kinda rereading some of my comfort series that I’ve either already reviewed or plan on reviewing much later when the series is closer to finishing. Dealing with everything that’s happened this year regarding my health has been tough. While you’re going through it you kind of have no choice but to get on with whatever it is and deal with it. You take the drugs because without them you’ll die. And when they stop working you take the drugs that make your hair fall out in chunks. And when they stop workin you prep for surgery because without it you’ll die. But what about when it’s no longer life or death? When the surgery’s done and you’re no longer in danger? you go home from the hospital, they wean you off the drugs, your hair stops falling out as quickly. What then? That’s the time people don’t warn you about, when you have time to stop and breathe and think and mourn. And that’s kind of what I’m dealing with right now, the slow down period where I heal and learn to adjust. And it’s taking all of my mental energy and strength so I’m having a very short break from reviewing while I learn to deal with this, I might do one or two reviews, I’m not sure. I’m not setting any rules or schedules and if I read something and have something to say and the energy to say it of course I’ll post it but this is more of a warning that that may be happening less often for a little while. But I’ll be back fully once I deal with everything and I hope it won’t take long. Xxx thank you all so much

#getyourbellyout Catheter is out, drain is out, ostomy is producing. You can see the old ostomy scar that my surgeon fixed to make thinner. My long scar is mostly hidden by the blanket but you can see part of it. This is a tattoo I haven't shared...until now! Simply too gorgeous to keep under wraps much longer! 😍 pic from @jodiewilson_tattoo @bodyposipanda was colour inspo 💖 I've had this a while, but truth is I didn't post it because I was worried about how my stomach looked. I have always suffered some body image distortion, truly believing I was fat when I was much lighter than I am now (and being fat is ok. Fat is not a dirty word.) But I truly wasn't. In fact I was quite ill with crohns disease and was scarily thin. (Nothing wrong with thin either - I am referring to alarmingly thin *for me*). I can only see how ill I looked when I look back at photos. I couldn't see it at the time and thought everyone else was crazy for commenting on my skeletal frame. Physically I am much better now. Mentally I'm still trying to work through body image issues, but I'm much better than I was. I allowed the media to get under my skin for too long and make me feel like my body would never be good enough. Isn't it about time we started focusing on what our bodies CAN do instead of what they DON'T look like? Our bodies are the vehicles that allow us to experience life - without them we wouldn'tbe here! Life is happening RIGHT NOW and I'll be damned if I'm missing out on a single minute of it because I'm worrying about what my stomach looks like! Seriously...life is way too short. Quick and Simple! 

That’s a new concept for me, I tend to go slow and overcomplicated but here goes. 

Apparently it’s National Poetry Week! Over the years I’ve used poetry as a way to express my feelings. Some I think are good, most are pretty poor and a few are a real eye opener for people who wish to know me! 

I thought as a quick post I’d share with you the poems from that collection that have a special meaning…

Today marks 10 years of being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. For those who don't know, I have inflammation and bleeding ulcers in my intestine. This causes me to be fatigued, bloated, extreme weight gain or loss and extreme abdominal pain. Luckily I've been in remission for few years now thanks to my medication. But it is not easy to live with an invisible illness. There is a stigma that if there is no "clear" signs of health problems then you really aren't sick. But this is not the case, people need to understand that there is more under the surface and be not too quick to judge. It has been a struggling ten years; learning how to manage my diet, healthy lifestyle choices, stress levels and keep my social life. Luckily I had a great start with this journey thanks to @cheohospital the strong and amazing support from my family. Thank you to my brother @drake.lariviere for always standing by me and trying to keep me strong through this journey. Thank you to my father for always making sure I had a smile on my face and reminding me not to be too serious. Now my mother spent many hours away from work and sleep to take care and manage my disease and if it wasn't for her, I'd likely not be in this spot today. Thank you mom for all your amazing support and thank you for continuing to help me. Lastly, above this beautiful tattoo above reminds me everyday the struggles I've gone through between managing a diet, being "normal", changes of medication dosages, body image, and acceptance, but here I stand proud of everything I've accomplished and ready to take on the rest of my life!! 💜 #purpleribbon #getyourbellyout (at Crohn's and Colitis Canada)
