Hiken in een wereld zoals ie is. Ik presteerde het eens om te wildkamperen pal naast een vliegveld -nog nét niet naast de landingsbaan- om het vliegtuig te kunnen halen de volgende morgen, terug naar Nederland. Daar ging ik meteen door naar een 4-sterren hotelkamer, aangeboden bij een uitnodiging voor een event. Ik trok bij wijze van spreken nog de takken uit m'n haar terwijl ik me neer vleide op de crispy witte bedlakens. Het was een contrast waar ik niet alleen om moest gniffelen, maar langzaamaan ook, bijna krampachtig, comfortabel in begon te worden. Maar goed ook, want hoewel het zeker niet over één nacht ijs ging, zou het extreme contrast van armoede en rijkdom me nog veel vaker gaan overvallen. Waaronder de afgelopen maanden. "Tegenwoordig bekijk ik de wereld in de zelfopgelegde primitieve leefstijl van het hiken, met een een zelfopgelegde kastijding van honger en hard werken. In rijke en arme landen. Om de wereld te bekijken en te ervaren ‘zoals ie is’. Al dan niet in de gêne van mijn relatieve rijkdom. Om te beleven dat de meest armoedige mensen in staat zijn om te delen. Omdat ze doordrongen lijken te zijn van het gegeven dat ieder mens waarde en waardigheid heeft." Strength, Courage, Wisdom. 

These are words, I try to emulate. I know, or rather I feel that the women before me, were pure examples of these strong verbs. 

But I have faults, just as they did. 

I judge, and Im not perfect. I can be vicious and uber unforgiving. 

The standards that I hold myself too as well as others in my circle, can become like a self mad prison. I judge myself so much and often unfairly I project that judgement onto others. I expect that when I meet a person, that first impression will set the stage for whom I expect them to be. But of course, in reality, this is not true. 

I judge myself, all too often. I set myself in this mental prison. I set my self made expectations so high and rarely forgive myself for falling off. Why is this?

Am I really strong, courageous, and wise? Am I kind? 

I try to be. We all try to be right? 

Where do you falter? DO you judge those around you as well as yourself? 

Do you forgive yourself? 

I vow to release myself from these judgements, let go of the infatuation to be perfect, or least come off as if I am. I release myself from believing that I am someone who must never waiver. I release myself from thinking that I must know it all. 

I release myself, let go, and let my inner spirit of imperfection, and un courageousness, and so small wisdom, just be. Because I am just me.
