Half of me yearns for the time when Mando felt so separate to the rest of Star Wars, but then the other half of me LOVES seeing Din's story become part of something bigger. The fact that little boy from Aq Vetina has a major role to play in key events in the galaxy like reclaiming Mandalore when everyone else gave up is quite incredible, actually.

I can't lie though, I do miss how separate season one felt to everything... mysterious man who barely speaks making his way through the galaxy with his strange frog baby. So many new characters and planets introduced.... it was amazing to see after the sequels. Mando s1 really united the fandom.

While I don't think it could have stayed that way forever and regardless of where the story goes, I guess i'm just glad we have the first season to go back to with all of those nostalgic feelings. But the "problem" of the story being linked to existing characters started in season 2, not season 3 like a lot of people pretend. At least season 3 was actually linked to Mandalorians, which is personally what I want in a show called THE Mandalorian lmao. It still has its flaws of course, but I hope at the end, when Din's story is complete, some of the choices will make more sense.

oooh the differences in the way the post-earthquake dive happened between the donghua and the live drama are so interesting. 'cause in the drama, lu guang met cheng xiaoshi for the first time when they were already adults, not when they were students (and without any of the timeloop stuff, I presume). so drama!lg feels a bit... less prepared for the emotional backlash from cxs, especially from such an intense dive. and also he's almost a bit... cruel? or maybe not "cruel", I guess it's more like "insensitive" — it's just not an appropriate time to say cxs passed some "test" after that kind of dive.

live drama definitely has that "first time coworkers" feel compared to the donghua's "we've been best friends/roommates/coworkers for years" dynamic. like, lu guang has always been analytical, but I think drama!lg's arc is about learning to be more empathetic and not just idealistic, whereas donghua!lg you can feel that he already learned this lesson from cxs before the donghua even started (plus some extra baggage from the loops, that I don't think drama!lg has). donghua!lg loves cxs for his sincerity (genuineness? naivete? not sure what the right word is), and that's something drama!lg hasn't decided for himself yet.

so of course, donghua!lg puts more care into these things and is more aware of cxs's triggers (drama!lg seems to only realize mid-dive why cxs is protective about the mother). but I do have to give props to drama!lg for having the ability to snap cxs out of a dive any time he wants, and he uses that ability at an earlier point for the earthquake dive.

I do appreciate how the drama has more space to explore how much that particular dive traumatized cxs. the montage of him staring at an apple on the street, messing up his shots, the nightmares, flashbacks during work, etc. wish we had that in the donghua, but I understand they only had 11 episodes to work with. I really hope donghua season 3 gets to do more of this kind of stuff since it'll have a larger episode count.

both drama and donghua versions of lu guang deserve getting punched in this arc, imo, but I was almost afraid drama!cxs wouldn't commit to it. I'm so glad he did.

anyway, the drama feels refreshing in the sense that... donghua!lg does his utmost to be put together and have a plan for everything, so it's interesting to see an interpretation of him where he doesn't have the experience to be like that.

GUESS WHO'S GONNA TRY AN WRITE ABOUT HOW BOUT FLO AND ARTHUR STRUGGLE TO "LET THEIR HAIR DOWN"!

... No guarantees but like... tis very significant. Yesterday I put this style on Flo (Erumae's style, but with longer locs pulled back), and it felt right! I keep trying to put Flo in this style just to see if I feel comfortable enough with it and guess what! Twas the housefit it works best with!

This is so funny and fitting cuz Flo always has their hair up in a ponytail cuz the partial down style frames their face weirdly in the main look (irl reason), but the housefit is less bulky so the hair isnt too much! For Flo reasons they always prefer a ponytail cuz it's practical, they don't feel relaxed enough to take it out and wear it loose and it makes them look too much like Erumae when it's partially down. And I know I haven't shown it much, but they have a lower mask on all the time. The cinematic scenes took it off, but yeah they're always covering their face in some way and it's for the same reason as the ponytail. It's practical and it's a guard. Security blanket. Makes them feel more comfortable talking to others. Same thing with Erumae, but... less security blanket and more cool factor.

I also wear a ponytail (at work) and a mask irl all the time, but that's just... that was coincidental.... partially.... Remember to mask! I digress.

Now what makes this even better is that I made the housefit specifically to talk to Arthur so the little bug/glitch where my body covers up his face when I talk to him isn't obstructive. The hair I struggle to put on Flo fits it and I didnt cringe. Put it into perspective in the game, Arthur is the only one who gets to see Flo feel safe and relaxed enough to dress down/let down their hair and ultimately let their guard down. Arthur also struggles with letting his guard down too!

I dont know if I made any sense... Idk what Im trying to say, my brain is fried from work but I made progress on fleshing out Flo and their relationship with Arthur! They have something big in common that they struggle with and overcome together! Yay!
