I disagree. Found family can be both "I have endured the horrors with these guys and would die for them" AND "This guy is so dad-coded, etc etc". It depends on what family you're finding in it. Not every character has to go through horrors to find a family, and sometimes it does have certain traditional family dynamics and that's not bad. Sometimes people are close enough that they act like siblings without having gone through some traumatic event together. Sometimes there's a third member of the dynamic that keeps them from hurting themselves in their shenanigans.

Who are you to define Found Family for other enjoyers of the trope?
