Here's some proof that I've finally started the fic to end my series of headcanons about German!Gale and Bucky:

Something had happened. He should be feeling something, doing something. His hands—they’d gripped something and squeezed. Harder than he’d ever gripped anything in his life. He’d felt white hot and sick and furious— He’d been afraid. But it was hard to feel like that now, cocooned in the dark like this. Whatever it was, Gale knew, like an absolute truth, that it couldn’t reach him here. He wanted to sink into it even further. To reach oblivion rather than float aware in this void. He was comfortable, here. Safe. Not quite resting, but quiet. He hadn't had a lot of quiet lately.

Modern AU in which Gale and Raphael are professors at the same university, and sort of in a friendly rivalry with each other. Whenever they meet somewhere on campus, they break out in impromptu poetry slams, reciting texts against each other. And when I say against, I mean it.

I cannot stress enough that they have nothing against each other in this AU, you'll likely even see them having a drink together at the fanciest bar in town the same evening, but they just constantly try to one-up each other, which is always an absolutely delightful show for everyone who happens to witness such an instance.

One day it'd absolutely come down to them reciting the entirety of Faust among the two of them, with Gale as Faust, and Raphael as - oh, the irony - Mephistopheles.

I've spoken about this one a.wee bit before, but this is the final installment of my German Gale AU.

When we last saw them, Gale was "recruited" ask a spy for the military and partnered with Ulrich Hausmann, whilst John had to stay at Thorpe Abbotts without any knowledge of what happened to him, until Chick calls him into the office where Hausmann waits and says he has news of Gale.

This fic is about what happened to him. It's inspired by a real person!

Spanish double agent Juan Pujol was a WW2 agent codenamed GARBO who fabricated a while network of spies, worked with real agents from all over, and was instrumental in making sure D-Day actually happened.

In this fic we see Gale getting thrown into the deep end as he rendezvous with spies, tries not to get killed, and tries not to kill Hausmann, all whilst trying to get back to Bucky in England as soon as this is over.

So, after the celebebration i decided to hook up with Astarion. He was actually last on my list, bc motherfucker he is written to appeal to my inner teenager, the feminine part of me, and my naive & romantic part. You know the one, the part that wants to be deeply in love with a flawed slut of a man who somehow thinks he is beyond everything and everyone but also elevates you, almost worships you merely for existing. I savescummed through all the interactions one by one and literally just went with the one that felt most "real". Him showing his scars and being all defensive was real.

Aaaaaanyway. Then i handed him the in-universe version of the Necronomicon, in hopes he can seperate from his master. Thats it. Next i saw the (!) above his head and decided to talk to him and ...

OH BOY

That fucker really and i mean really turned into a classical romance poet just to tell you he loves you .... as a .. not really convincing lie to get you to sleep with him? I think i get the hype now, at least a bit.

BG3 Origin Companions as Dog Breeds

Wyll is a German Shepherd. He hunts his prey with a single-minded tenacity bordering on mania, but when not on the job he is surprisingly waggy, loyal, and sweet. If anyone threatens his pack he will go right for their throat.

Karlach is a Golden Retriever. She has boundless enthusiastic energy for whatever is happening, is loyal to her dying breath, and cuddly as hell. Don't come between Mama K and her brood, or she'll show you her fangs.

Gale is a Corgi. He has big brown eyes that he knows are beautiful and uses that to his advantage, is comfortable around royalty, and enjoys an afternoon tea. It is also very difficult to get him to stop yapping.

Lae'zel is a Dachshund. Listen, those little bastards have the heart of a dragon trapped inside the body of a weasel. They were bred to hunt badgers. You think Lae'zel is going to let something like a badger get in her way? Didn't think so. She'll rip out your throat and then poop in your shoe just to show you exactly what she thinks of you. But if you earn her trust she might let you pick her up and cuddle her.

Shadowheart is an Afghan Hound. She is dignified, independent, and aloof, with fur that is and will always be more beautiful than yours. She is cautious around strangers and takes a while to warm up, but once she accepts you as part of her pack she'll allow you to pet her.

Astarion is a cat.

I’m obsessed with your German Gale AU! What do the other guys think of Bucky being rescued by the supposed enemy?

Hello Anon!

I am working on a fic for that AU as we speak, but I admit it is slow going.

So during the war I think John would tell someone he's closest to about Gale's help, or someone he trusts to be level headed - if he tells anyone. But I think it would have to come out some way or other that he got back with help.

But yeah I think everyone would be suspicious. There was a curious mix in the US after the war between hostility to German Nationals and a their pretty successful integration into American society.

But between the aerial bombardment and the Stalag, I do think some of the 100th wouldn't understand.

Crank would. We saw in the show he could differentiate between the German military and civilians. I think Benny and Crosby would be more on his side of things, too.

Hambone would have one of the biggest issues I think. Brady wouldn't like it but would come around eventually.

Rosie would be be okay with it I think, but would also be the first to rant and "debate" with Gale about what he saw over there and what he found out when preparing for the Nuremberg trials.

I'd love to say when they all got to know Gale they'd come around, but what the went through during the war would just be too much for some.

Gale's first time crying since the war started being when he first sees John with his face busted up and injured when they reunite in the Stalag

at first he can't even feel anything, doesn't know how to feel anything when he sees John walk through the gates with his head practically caved in, still looking beautiful and charming even through the blood, and it's like his brain is on a lag or something because he doesn't quite feel anything yet

but when John finally gets processed and is shoved into Gale's bunk by cruel German hands, Gale can feel his emotions well up inside of him

Gale finally cries when he insists on washing John's wounds, refuses to let him see the doc because HE needs to be the one to do it, he needs to see if John's okay, and when John winces when Gale presses a damp cloth to his eye, the dam just fucking breaks

he sobs like a child, all heaving and hiccupping and shaking as he tries to do what a Major should do, tries to help his comrades but he can't... can't fathom that John got this hurt... but he's also alive, after seeing Brady and not John enter the Stalag he had thought for sure John was dead... but he's alive, goddamnit John is alive

and John holds Gale while he sobs, arms strong around him and Gale heaves shakily into his neck, doesn't say anything which only makes Gale sob even more because John always knew what to say, always had a word of encouragement for him, and oh, how the fucking war has changed them, hasn't it?
