Just as a heads up - if I do reblog anything about the Goncharov thing (a movie that does not actually exist) it’ll be tagged with #Goncharov Gaslight so that there is as little confusion about it as possible.

I find some of the artistry going into the meme beautiful and hilarious, but I also don’t want to fuck with anyone’s sense of reality past the point of a joke.

DONT BURN ME AT THE STAKE. I haven’t rewatched the first movie in a while, and I went to go look up his name after I finished this… and that’s when I realized he showed up in the movie already but it’s TOO DAMN LATE. EDDIE CAPULTO HEADCANONS CAW: HE DO BE BLONDE AND HE DO BE BLACK. there is a legitimate reason behind him being black. Imagining Him, Charles, and Tiff being the serial killing Trio (Eddie mentions Tiffany in the book, he doesn’t like her. His motto is “F em and forget em” he’s not a big fan of tiff

I think him being a young (20 something) black man in the 80’s would just add a bit of nuance to the reason he drove away. Charles may get life in jail but he’d get the death penalty- or hell, he probably wouldn’t make it to the trial. also Eddie being blonde bc bc Charles has a thing for Blondes. They’re friends with benefits who have NO IDEA that they’re gay.

I think the portrayal of Spider-Man 2099 in Across the Spider-Verse is in-character in that aside from like Shattered Dimensions he's always been portrayed as a bit of an asshole who slips into anti-hero territory at times and generally has a "needs of the many over the needs of the few" mindset and given his specific circumstances in the movie it's not unreasonable to think he could take the actions he does. However it does kinda suck that since like 99% of moviegoers had no idea who he was before the movie came out their first impression of him is when he's in an antagonistic role and people think "antagonist" and "villain" are synonyms so now I'm gonna have to listen to people who've never read a comic saying he's a villain or isn't a real Spider-Man for the rest of time or at least until he inevitably changes his mind in the third one.

my binder i used in 7th grade i had a blue one that looked pretty similar to this for 8th grade but idk where it went, also the parts i scribbled out are my full legal name i had written on it. i wrote it normally and then the big spot is where i wrote my name REALLY BIG in elysian code from the vladimir tod books. also the lines are from when i used an exacto knife to cut up some papers and forgot that my binder was underneath

in conclusion yall can now see why im so shameless about talking about shigaraki the way i do

personally i'm streaming it illegally on couchtuner (#throwback lol, what is this, 2015??) but i think you can find it on amazon prime with a paid account and for free on peacock streaming. it might also be on hulu but i don't have that one so i'm not sure.

You know as a horror fan "cultural Christianity" is such a useful term because as an atheist as well as a horror fan and a fan of haunted house stuff if it's done well I very, very quickly noticed how many horror movies are Christian propaganda. So few horror movies involving religion (which is a shocking amount of them btw) pick any religion that's not Christianity to center itself around and when they do that religion is bad and evil, not the cause of evil and the savior from it (because the demons may be Christian, but God and the bible are also the solutions in a way other religions aren't granted. Bonus points if it's an indigenous religion being portrayed as Evil and Bad).

Pretty much any exceptions I can think of to that rule use Judaism and the Holocaust as a backdrop and never in like a normal, the Holocaust is horrible way it's always playing on myths of Nazi Germany's experimentation on the Jewish population. Which I find highly troubling and disturbing, but regardless nothing like being a horror fan to convince you of cultural Christianity because no other genre leans on religion as a plot device so much unless it's straight up a Christian movie for a Christian audience using Christianity as it's main theme and through line.

You are not woobifying them if you like it soft or write a fic where they say they love each other or kiss or high five or take a bite from the same sandwich or whatever. You have a different interpretation, that’s all. You’re not committing some horrid unforgivable atrocity against your fandom. You’re not an ��annoying fan” if you want your ships happy, even if other people dislike you for it, the same way you are not an “annoying fan” if you like your ships intense and other people dislike you for it. You’re not a mean person for having an opinion that the majority dislikes. You’re an individual human being who has an opinion and your opinion is worth JUST as much as every other opinion in your fandom. Because that’s how opinions work. You’re not disregarding canon any more than people who bend it to fit their other non-canon ships or headcanons or other interpretations of this ship or their interpretation of any other ship or anything else that JRRT or Christopher or the Tolkien estate disagree with. We all see a piece of media and interpret it differently. It doesn’t make any of us better or worse for it. Ship and let ship.
