analysis: is haddo afflicted with eleazar?
spoilers discussed and mentioned:
secret summer paradise event
veluriyam mirage and it's NPCs
sumeru archon quest
eleazar
duel! the summoners' summit! event
nahida's story quest
haddo is a hydro eidolon - a physical manifestation of the real haddo who visited the mirage in the past. we do not know how long ago he and his brothers visited. this means we cannot rule out eleazar based on timeline. if he visited prior to the deletion of forbidden knowledge, then he could possibly have eleazar. if he visited after, then it is impossible for him to have eleazar, as it was completely cured and no longer an issue for current and future residents of sumeru.
i don’t recall any mention of what haddo had besides being the “sickly brother.” he exhibited only fatigue and frequent coughing to us. i cannot find any information regarding that online.
with that said, this post will continue under the assumption that there was no mention of what ails him
eleazar’s main symptom is hardened scales covering the skin, which causes nerve damage, stiffness and numbness, as well as clumsiness and fatigue as a result. it will slowly overtake the entire body until the afflicted becomes paralyzed. they may become comatose. there was no cure that humans could provide, only treatments to ease suffering.
though eleazar affects the whole body, character models in-game only showed bandages on the hands and/or forearms.

dunyarzad prior to being cured. the bandages are gone after eleazar is erased.

gulab (left), one of the creators of genius invokation TCG.
emira (right), featured in nahida’s story quest
on the other hand, there are those with no visible bandages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kumar, an NPC found in vimara village. it seems he has a band of scales around his wrist but he does not have it covered.
collei, a playable character, who really needs no introduction. however, her clothing does cover her hands and forearms, where eleazar presents on the NPC character models.
now we look back at haddo.
Tumblr media
haddo has no visible bandages.
just like collei, his sleeves cover the area in question. his hands are bare, but as we’ve seen with kumar and emira, it doesn’t have to show on the hands, it could present on the forearms only.
it’s impossible to compare his physical features to his brother’s, ferdinand and jeroney, as they too wear the standard adventurers’ guild uniform.
it was never mentioned where the three brothers were born, if they were residents of sumeru. eleazar is unique only to sumeru, as it’s a manifestation of the withering on the body.
could it affect anyone living in sumeru, including those not native born?
in conclusion, there is not enough evidence to suggest haddo had eleazar. if he arrived in the mirage prior to the cleansing of irminsul, he could be hiding the affected areas under his uniform. at this point however, it is inconclusive.

As a diligent and thorough architect, Kaveh likes to cover all of his bases before starting on any project. If he wants to build a house, he examines dozens of different styles and draws out a hundred unique layouts. If he wants to erect a tower, he studies lighthouses and skyscrapers. These buildings may come in the form of contemporary or ancient architecture, and Kaveh investigates both with equal vigor and intellect. This way, he can combine the knowledge of all the architects before him and create a new masterpiece with every finished building.
It’s how he finds himself in the ruins of an old hospital in the Sumeru desert, located southeast of Aaru Village and completely abandoned. He’d been commissioned with an extremely generous base supply of mora to build a new hospital in the desert, and with the exploration restrictions lifted by the Akademiya, Kaveh pounced on the opportunity to survey one of the oldest hospitals in Sumeru history
A Matra guard trails behind Kaveh. She shifts uncomfortably as they stop at the entrance of the Dar al-Shifa, by all rights looking like she wants to be a thousand kilometers away from the hospital. Kaveh can’t help but take pity on her; in order to explore the ruins, a scholar must take a Matra member with them for their safety. The ruins are generally unstable and hostile creatures still lurk in the area, ready for their next victim.
Kaveh can protect himself, though. He has a Dendro Vision, a claymore, and years of exploring architecture under even worse structural conditions. So, he offers her the only mercy he can:
“You can wait here and guard the entrance,” he says. She looks at him hesitantly, biting her lip and tensing her shoulders in a speech about how she is required to stay by his side. He pushes on. “If anything happens, which I’m sure nothing will, I will scream for you. The hospital will have an echo, so you’ll hear me clearly. Besides, by standing at the entrance, you’re still doing your job. It’s the equivalent of guarding the outside of a room at night rather than standing directly by the scholar’s bed.”
The last addition manages to convince her, and her body sags with relief that Kaveh would find funny if anxiety wasn’t also curdling his stomach. It’s not the instability that worries him, he knows. It’s the hospital itself.
Dar al-Shifa emits an aura unlike any other abandoned building Kaveh has explored. Just from standing outside of it, unnatural chills make goosebumps rise up and down his arms and neck. The hospital has a driving wind of its own, like the current coming off of the sea at the port. It feels both horrifyingly alive and dead at the same time.
If Kaveh hadn’t been born Kaveh, he would’ve long turned away by now. Instead, he nods his head to the Matra guard in farewell and sets off to study the cold interior of the building. He was asked to build a hospital, and by the Archons he will do it with the Dar al-Shifa as the ancient structural base.
Ruins in particular benefit Kaveh in two ways. He can observe what the architects did right to make the structure look both beautiful and functional, as well as what they did wrong. Where were their calculations wrong? What caused one area to fall apart faster than the rest? What paint did they use to last hundreds upon thousands of years, and where did they find the resources to build their floors, ceilings, and beams?
All of these questions can be found within the hospital of Kaveh only looked. Unfortunately, the uppermost layer appears to be the worst off, with the ceilings falling away and the stucco floor and walls left to dry up and crack in the heat. The hospital is situated in a gloomy corner of the desert, sure, but the burning sun is as inescapable in the desert as water in the ocean. There isn’t much to note about this layer of the ruins other than the fact that Kaveh will need to use the reinforced stucco now more commonly used by modern architects to protect the buildings from cracking in the dry heat.
The stairs leading down to the second floor are as ominous as they can get. He swears he can hear a low whine in the breeze that sounds remarkably human, but it's gone the next second. Kaveh pushes aside his nerves and takes the steps one at a time, careful to not trip over any loose rocks that have been slowly pushed inside over the decades of abandonment.
The second floor is immediately cooler than the first one, though not much darker. Light filters in through the caved-in holes of the first floor, allowing the sun to reach far corners. Kaveh can find separate rooms now, and it's in the third room he explores that he finds the first bed. Maggot and bat-consumed holes dot the mattress. The sheets are brown, unrecognizable from the color they were originally. The frame is all but rotted away.
Kaveh leaves the room as quickly as he came. It’s a useless endeavor, he knows; there will be many more rooms to go, and they will all be necessary if he wants a full scope of what this architecture may have looked like in its prime, and why it's reduced to the flayed shell it is now.
Getting a hold of his nerves, Kaveh forces himself to work through the rest of the floor. Other than the occasional bed and table, there aren’t any artifacts to speak of. Even the insects seem to have left this layer behind. The real challenge, and subsequently more fruitful information, will be in the bottom third and fourth floors. Kaveh finishes his notes with a rising heartbeat, and he descends another set of stairs.
Dar al-Shifa seems to breathe on its own, sending a breeze through Kaveh’s hair even though he’s well below ground level at this point. He’s far from the sand and wind of the surface. It’s more unsettling than he thought it’d be. His hands tremble as he keeps a tight grip on his quiver, and he moves much slower than he had on the previous two floors.
It’s darker, he notes. The sun doesn’t reach this far anymore, and what little makes it through only settles by the stairs. He infuses his Dendro energy with Mehrak and lights the way. For once he’s thankful it cannot experience emotions like humans can. Kaveh wouldn’t want it to feel fear or the creeping dread that a zombified patient would come from the walls to eat him alive.
He jumps at the slightest of sounds, even though he knows logically that zombified patients are not real, and the only known “zombie” in the world is a little girl who can barely remember her own name. There is nothing to be afraid of.
Still, his heart pounds rabbit-fast as he takes notes of the hallways and rooms. His previous assumption about the bottom two layers was correct; fewer people have been brave enough to explore the ruins at this depth, so more artifacts are still present. He finds vials of soured liquids, shattered bottles and vases, medical machinery, and operating tables with the faint impression of dried blood.
Of course, he also finds the carvings on the walls and the notes left behind. He tries to focus on the preservative qualities of the stucco rather than the words themselves, but it’s impossible. He reads their pleas for help, the tick marks of the days going by, the vain scratch marks from insanity, and he feels sick. The faded ink on the papers is almost worse as they detail the “treatments” the Eleazar patients endured. They list names lost to history, long since buried in their righteous graves. At least, he hopes they’ve been buried. It’s the respect they deserve after their years of pain and suffering.
Kaveh manages to push on to the last floor of the hospital. The anxiety gnawing at his skin grows, and he’s nearly overcome with trembles when he reaches the bottom of the stairs. He doesn’t make it two steps in before he hears a tell-tale groan and the crack of stucco breaking apart.
He doesn’t have enough time to escape the falling ceiling. The little distance he makes protects his upper body from the main crash, but his legs still are caught by the debris. He falls onto the floor face-first. The air is knocked completely out of his chest, searing hot pain explodes through his body, and he screams. A hunk of hard, rotting wood lands directly in the small of his back, thwarting the desperate attempt he was making at crawling out from under the stucco, metal, and beams of wood.
His bones must have broken, for every time he so much as twitches, he cries. He can’t take in more than shallow breaths, both from the wood crushing his back and the sobs constricting his lungs. His heart pounds out of fear a piece of broken sternum will pierce the beating organ. His legs are entirely unmoveable. Any attempt at tensing or shifting them sends stabbing pain all over his lower body.
“Sir Kaveh! Are you — Oh my gods! Are you okay?” His Matra guard exclaims in horror. She got to his side in an instant and heaved the wood off of his back. It alleviated only some of his breathing restrictions; his chest is definitely broken, and he can’t quite push himself up with his arms without them immediately failing. “I knew I shouldn’t have left you! This is all my fault! I’m so sorry!”
Kaveh can’t respond to her even as she apologizes over and over for something he urged her to do. She didn’t make the ceiling fall, either. If anything, it was Kaveh walking on it after so many months or years of being undisturbed that caused it to collapse. He knew this going in — he should’ve been better prepared to make a mad dash.
His gasps come in fast and hard, every breath harder than the last. She clears the smaller pieces of debris on his arms and head, but the larger chunks crushing his legs remain stuck in place. Her efforts to move them only made it hurt worse, if that’s even possible. Every time they moved in an inch, electric shocks spasmed his body.
“I need to get help! It’s too heavy and I — I can’t do it on my own. I’ll be right back!” The guard tells him, kneeling to the ground and grabbing his face with her dirty, blood-stained hands. His blood. “Stay alive,” she demands. Then she runs up the stairs quickly as a hare.
He does everything he can to not let her down. He slows his breathing the best he can, and he tries to pinpoint the exact points at which the most weight is bearing down. It only lasts for a while. Most of his time is spent in a pain-induced delirium, thinking about the mistakes he made and the people he left behind.
He imagines Cyno telling a God-awful joke that nobody laughs at, but Kaveh still manages to find humor while underneath the rubble of the ceiling. Faruzan tells him about the various ways to get out of the predicament he’s in, though they all require more energy than he has. Then Tighnari sits down next to him, reminding him to stay awake and breathe.
It feels suspiciously like Death is keeping him company, with the way the hospital’s breath settles over his broken body like a cold hand. His vision swarms, and the same Death that took away the Eleazar patients kindly numbs his broken bones. Head buzzing with overwhelming exhaustion, he lays his head on the ground and stares listlessly at the debris and dust lying in heaps in front of him.
Then Alhaitham pinches his cheeks hard enough to leave bruises. “Do you really think you’re going to die here?”
Kaveh wakes to Hydro overtaking his senses, stuffing his nostrils, and bringing pain back into his body. He gasps, his broken sternum stabbing into his lungs, and his vision sharpens in on golden sandals. The weight on his legs releases with several groans of effort, and he can’t hold back his cries as an entirely new ache settles in his bones.
“I thought I almost lost you,” Candace says, her sweet smile showing through her voice alone. “Thank you for holding out until I could get here.”
Death’s cold embrace is replaced with Candace’s warm hands pulling him clear of the rubble. Hydro flows consistently from her Vision, closing the bleeding wounds from the sharp edges of the debris and binding, to some degree, his broken bones and torn ligaments. That doesn’t mean the process of moving him doesn’t hurt like he’s the sacrifice to a particularly violent deity, but the pain at least reminds him he’s alive.
Candace and the doctors she brought with her set up a temporary camp outside of the hospital grounds while still remaining in the general area. It’s too risky to carry him too far until they have the proper equipment, like a rolling stretcher and splints. She holds his hand when he can, letting him soak up her Hydro energy like a cat does the sun. It’s not a fix-all solution; her healing powers are limited in comparison to the strength she produces.
She was likely the one doing most of the debris removal, too. Kaveh wonders how he was able to make allies with the strongest person in the nation, someone who would come to him in his hour of need without a single complaint on her lips.
“Thank you,” he says when he’s lying down. His chest still aches with every inhale, and his breaths are still too short in comparison to normal breathing, but he needs to say this. He needs to express his gratitude for her saving his life.
Her heterochromatic eyes fix on him, and there is nothing less than comforting warmth in her gaze. “I was only helping a friend. Please, rest. I’m sure you’re in a lot of pain.”
“Whatever I can do,” he wheezes, “to repay this debt. Tell me.”
She smiles at him and crosses her legs on the chair situated at his makeshift bedside. Her hands rest in her lap. “I want you to recover and build our hospital. That is the debt you owe me.”
Kaveh closes his eyes and lets blissful peace wrap over his aching and broken body. It is not Death that keeps him quiet this time. It is the promise of a debt to be paid, a hospital to be built, and friends to heal for. It is Candace’s prevention of Dar al-Shifa’s final attempt to claim one last victim that puts his mind at ease.

your general cyno headcanons?
Cyno Head-Canons (in general)
Firstly, sorry this took so long but I wanted to play and inhale all the lore from Lupus Aureus Chapter 2 before I share my Cyno head-canons to not say things that dont make any sense with his lore (or to repeat stuff that his lore already confirmed) Secondly, omg, I never thought somebody would actually request head-canons but I'm happy somebody did. I don't know where to start but :3 Thirdly, I'd like to add that things mentioned here are NOT canon. Head-Canons are what one imagines to be "canon" for a character/series but is not (obviously some head-canons can become reality if it is later confirmed by the creators but that chance is soooo low, so don't see this as anything canon even if most of it might be based on canon in-game events)
─────────────────
Tumblr media
I'll throw some minor and short points at you before I go into detail about some Head-Canons I have... >-<
vvv
Cyno's a complete workaholic and nobody can stop him
Cyrus and Cyno act like "Student and Professor" when in public but they call each other "Dad/Father" and "Son" in private
When Cyno is stressed out he'd chew on his nails or pull on the skin of his lips without even noticing
He can swim, but he dislikes water if it's too deep for him to stand in safely
Cyno, at least once in his life, encouraged Collei to do something plainly stupid
If he fears something, it's Tighnari's or Cyrus' wrath
If he ever ecountered the deepest emotional low ever, he'd cut off his hair to cope with it
He's a calm drunk: If he's drunk, he's completely quiet, just minds his own business and gets really sleepy
Taj is like an uncle to him; when Taj had died, it hit Cyno harder than one would think and he cried in his room and at Taj's grave on ungodly hours so nobody would see
─────────────────
Now, I present to you things I think about at 3AM when I can't sleep:
Cyno is Collei's father figure / adoptive father Cyno adopted Collei at some point, in my opinion. He takes care of her, visits her and I'm sure she means a lot to him as well. For everybody that hasn't read the official Genshin Impact Manga: Cyno was the one to seal the Archon Residue in Collei and took her to Sumeru so she could fullfil her dream to cure Eleazar. They also have a lot in common and I think Cyno sees a younger version of himself in Collei and he's so proud of her to see her grow and live her life.
Cyno was bullied as a kid Knowing that Cyno grew up in the Academiya after Cyrus took him in and that scholars don't think all too good about people from the desert, I think Cyno received a lot of mean comments during his time as a scholar. Canonically, the matra are also not treated kindly by the scholars, but since Cyno is an adult now and seemingly unbothered, even fancies what the scholars say, he just learnt how to deal with the comments...
Lisa and Candace are "big sister" figures to Cyno Cyno and Lisa seem to be very close, especially with their connection to Cyrus. I like to think that Cyno sees Lisa as his older sister and she also sees him as her younger brother, mostly taken from how they interact with each other in the official Genshin Impact Manga, Lisa trusts him and Cyrus from the Academiya the most. Candace meanwhile just acts overly sisterly towards him, she worries about him, looks after him and scolds him if he does something reckless. They just give off "big sister-young brother" vibes from how they've behaved around each other during the Sumeru Archon Quest and the Lupus Aureus Acts.
Cyno has Lichtenberg Scars on his arms If you don't know what Lichtenberg Scars are: Those scars are inflicted by lightening strikes and look like tree branches. Hermanubis himself also had Electro powers or powers that inflicted lightening, therefore I also think that this applies to both Cyno and Sethos
Childhood Trauma This is the point where I bring up the things Collei and Cyno have in common. Both were sold or given away to somebody by their parents; Collei was given away to the Fatui and Cyno was sold to the Temple of Silence as vessle. They've both been used for experiments and most likely endured painful experiences + they were severly sick in their childhood as Collei suffered from Eleazar and it's symptoms while Cyno suffered headaches, fevers and probably some minor injuries he can't remember. As Cyno said himself that not everybody could probably endure what he and Sethos had to go through, I believe he meant both physical and mental pain which explains why he lost so much memory from the time at the Temple - it was his mind, perhaps even Hermanubis, protecting Cyno from the upleasant and traumatic events he endured during that time (that is called "dissociative amnesia"). I also believe that little Cyno (and Sethos) must've been terrified during that time and it mustve been hard for older Cyno still, probably even after Cyrus took him to the academiya.
Cynari (Cyno x Tighnari, yes, the ship, skip this if you want <3) Inhales - I don't think I need to explain that canonically speaking Cyno and Tighnari have multiple times described themselves as their best friends. No, you dont have to like the ship and nor do you have to agree with the ship since it is NOT CANON, hoyoverse can't and won't put any same sex romantic relationships or general romantic relationships between playable characters into their games anyway for obvious reasons, the most they will do is hint at them like they do with Xingqiu and Chongyun or Ningguang and Beidou (the characters are written that way to leave us imagining, not to confirm anything). However, I'd like to think that they are in a loving relationship because of their chemistry and that both act as Collei's parents (Dads). I know this means nothing, but the way they worry for each other, care for each other, act towards each other and think about each other simply fuels my brain with "Look at those two idiots being in love".
─────────────────
Honestly, I just wrote my mind because general head-canons take up a lot of my mind and I feel the need to explain myself so people understand what I mean or where I'm coming from ;-; So, sorry for the wall of text, ehe.....
ERM!!! I'm free to discuss things in the replies or dms if you want!!

TIGHNARI: # the roots of ambition.
Tumblr media
INDEX. A compilation of resources, inspirations, and additional writings for this project.
Read the fic first! Table of Contents / Chapter I
Tumblr media
Short playlist I created to help myself stay focused on the project's themes, tones, and atmosphere:
Y/N's abstract I wrote before I wrote the fic:
The exchange of chemicals such as carbon through mycorrhizal networks is a topic in increasing need of study as our forests change rapidly. The rapid acceleration of the plague known as The Withering has opened up a fresh world of ideas, such as that Irminsul is deeply connected and implanted upon non-elementally infused fungi such as fungal mycelium. In the present studies, we examined the ecology of microscopic fungal bodies and Adhigama saplings to diminish abstract definitions of Withering Zones and create opportunities for fruitful methods and study. We tested two groups in the first study: a control group with no past association with Withering Zones, and a group of samples from Adhigama roots within a 10 metre radius of Withering Zones. There was no difference between groups in this study, so we proceeded in the second study with a control group and a sample from the direct outskirts of a Withering Zone. From within the Withering Zone, we were able to witness a healthy sapling’s decay over three hours. This may suggest still-active mycorrhizal networks in Withering Zones. With these results, the case of The Withering’s manifestation in the human body, known as Eleazar, may be understood through a clarified lens of possible elemental manifestation within the body. Future research should examine this possibility more intently.

im feeling better and i had a brilliant brilliant genius idea scoob. (EXPLANATION BELOW)
Tumblr media
okay class what was the author trying to say
fatui harbinger au. SHOCKED EMOJI
sub-au. an AU of an AU (marvel impact) because three things happened to cross paths in my big empty mind:
1. "man i would love an evil stephen au"
2. "man i need to draw genshin mordo"
and 3. "i love the harbingers" and when the idea lit up like a flame in my brain i exploded out of bed
this au consists of the best magic users ever being fatui harbingers (rip traveler) because evil hot and crazy sexy, instead of adding more harbingers they replace already existing ones because one two three enough fatui for me
so basically evil evil magic users au
((before moving on for ppl that do play genshin but dont know much about the fatui harbingers, there's 11 of them and they're ranked based on strength, personally i wouldnt even know how to scale them based on their powers so i didnt touch the ranks, just switched out the characters))
NOW EXPLAINING EACH OF THEM IN ORDER OF THEIR 'RANK' starting with lowkey
Tumblr media
Loki is pretty self explanatory, he takes The Tsaritsa's place because cryo archon.... ice...god.....
i was initially planning on making loki take scaramouche's place because i found scara's "YOU'RE INTERRUPTING A CONVERSATION BETWEEN GODS......" dialogue in the sumeru quest so funny and because the idea of loki being a fake-god seemed cool, but her as the cryo archon and overall leader of the fatui was too good to put aside
IMPORTANT NOTE/EDIT: NVM YALL LMFAOOOO I DECIDED (iwas MANIPULATED /j /aimed) TO CHANGE LOKI BACK TO TAKING SCARAMOUCHE'S PLACE there's a lot more things they have in common and it sets an interesting dynamic between him and other characters in this au, including thor ("better version of him"), strange (using loki as a vessel to create a god) etc
Tumblr media
Wong's the baddest bitch in this post theres no other explanation
im (half)joking (hes so fine) theres an explanation
it was between that and making him take Il Capitano's place, which would have been Rank 1, and he would have still ranked higher than everyone else (besides Loki) so i looked at their wikis .
The Director (Pierro) handpicked certain Harbingers, two of which being Il Dottore and La Signora (in this au, Strange and Wanda) so that was just the stars aligning for this au
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Strange's gotta be even more self-explanatory than Loki's
il dottore. the doctor.
need i say more (no but i will)
i need at least 34084 aus of this man being evil idk i cant control myself
Sufian and Zandik (Dottore) already had a lot in common or parallel in the marvel impact au, both expelled students from the Akademiya, positive/negative relations with the dendro archon, man kissers, insert il dottore wiki
i want him to be scary and feared now and then, is that too much for a man to want from another man (rip eleazar patients)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
clea had to be arlecchino/the knave because. because
clea in a suit primary excuse
arlecchino's cool hair secondary excuse
woman kisser back-up excuse
theres little to no explanation here i just sensed it spiritually (arlecchino is the best ily arlecchino) + the theory about arlecchino being half-hilichurl?? or something like that? because of the cool gradient on her skin, which is rlly awesome, so non-human bonus points
need more insane, cold, calculated, manipulative, insane, insane, deceiving, insane women sometimes
Tumblr media
mordo he exists hes here save me mordo
im gonna be so fr with you guys rn
Tumblr media
pulcinella is just there, i forget he exists often times
only mordo can fix that
after deciding on making Wong the Director, i considered making Mordo take Il Capitano's place or Pantalone's/The Regrator's, but i was really really unsure, he didn't seem to fit either of them and by making him take the Regrator's place I would be putting him in a rank that is wayy too low (9) and considering how little there is about Pulcinella (literally almost nothing), I would have a lot of creative freedom
Tumblr media
wanda had to be one of the easiest to sort out....la signora..... alternatively "crimson witch".......? come on they forced my hand atp
im so sorry red bisexual i didnt want you to get such a low rank (8) i had no other choice
la signora is such a badass im tired of pretending shes not (+her Crimson Witch form is amazing)
consumed by grief and anguish, destroying themselves in the process? they twin
fandom theories about their resurrection? they twin
that was it i love being normal about any interest i have . ever

Hellooo, request might come off as weird, but I've been thinking about it. For a few days
Could you write a small fix about collei going on an adventure with the 10 doctor while trying to escape dottore?
Okay so this was an awesome request, thank you so much! Never noticed the similarities between El Dottore and The Doctor until now…..I will apologise since they weren’t exactly escaping Dottore in this. *I got a little carried away in the rest of it tbh* I hope it still hits the spot for you though ✨✨
WONDER 🍃
Doctor Who x Genshin Impact crossover
Featuring the 10th Doctor and Collei
TW : MUCH cannon divergence, mentions of injury, captivity, mentioned medical abuse
——-
The TARDIS warped disjointedly as it spun through spacetime. It’s usual musical sound was a comfort to the Doctor, but this one was new. All these centuries and he had never heard it cry in such a manner. It terrified him. He was frantically pulling levers and smashing buttons, anything to escape the pull of this monstrous vortex. His efforts were all in vain. For once, his knowledge and experience wasn’t going to get him out of this one. All he could do was watch on his scanner as the TARDIS entered the eye of the vortex and all the systems shut down.
——-
Collei stared at the damp ceiling, trying to ignore the shivers racking her body. The chains around her wrists were irritating the wounds from the doctors scraping the eleazar scales from her skin. She didn’t understand why they had to run those awful tests every day, but she was thankful there had at least been no experiments performed on her in a while. A whirring sound followed by a thud from the basement below suddenly caught her attention. Perhaps she had given thanks too soon and this was another experiment in the making. Footsteps became clearer, entering the corridor outside her room. She sat up, wincing as the chains weight shifted.
The Doctor landed with a thud, the TARDIS systems slowly returning to life one by one. The second his screen came back on, he pulled it down closer to his face and studied his location. This vortex could have sent him anywhere, from before time itself right until the end of everything.
“That can’t be right..” He muttered to himself. “That’s not possible.” He spun on his heels and ran towards the TARDIS doors. He popped his head out first, making sure it was safe. Then slowly he stepped out, taking in the wet brick walls, corroding the seemingly random pieces of machinery they held. He lifted his screwdriver, scanning to confirm his theory. Gasping, he dropped his arm. His face, for the first time in hundreds of years, held a look of pure wonder. One all his companions had worn upon viewing their first new planet. While he had been to parallel universes, he had never found an entirely new one with different planets and star systems.
“I’m in another universe!” His hands pulled at his face while he grinned like a child. Laughing, he made a break for the stairs. Once in what seemed to be a main corridor, he burst into the first door he saw. There wouldn’t be long until the vortex started to close and he was all too aware of that and even more unwilling to waste a single second in his Teyvat adventure.
Collei jerked back in her bed, as her door flew open. Her wide eyes shook as she took in the odd appearance of the man in front of her. Spiky black hair and a blue striped suit….certainly not a fatui. So what could he be doing in her room?
“Hello! I’m the Doctor.” His smile faded as his eyes fell on the chains around the frail girls wrists.
“The Doctor?! You’ll get yourself killed running around saying that!” Collei warned the obviously unwell man. She held her breath as he stepped closer to her, his brows furrowed. He kept coming until he knelt at the side of her bed.
“What’s your name?” He asked, staring thoughtfully into the scared child’s green eyes. She hadn’t been granted the respect of eye contact in such a long time.
“My name is Collei.” His smile returned as she spoke.
“Well, that’s a lovely name.” Despite his exaggerated manner, she couldn’t bring herself to doubt his honesty.
“Right! How about I get you out of here and you can tell me what’s so wrong with my name?” He didn’t wait for Collei’s reply before he pointed his sonic screwdriver at the chain locks. Her green hair fell into her face as she tilted her head in curiosity at the buzzing sound emanating from the glowing stick. The Doctor chuckled at the young girls shock when the chains from her body.
“Are you ready for an adventure?” He held his hand out, already knowing the answer by the spark in her eye.
——-
The new duo sat in the TARDIS as the Doctor looked around on the map for possible starting points.
“Mondstadt.” Collei near whispered, facing the grated floor. “I’ve always wanted to go to Mondstadt.” She spoke a little stronger and the Doctor flashed her a cheeky grin.
“Mondstadt it is!” He dramatically pulled down a lever and watched as Collei stared at the flashing lights and moving machinery of the engine, releasing her first true smile in years.
“I can’t believe you aren’t surprised that it’s bigger on the inside.” He kind of missed the running joke.
“We have lots of domains that are bigger on the inside in Teyvat!” Collei explained. “Though none that move quite as far as this one.”
They landed in a large grassy area. Both instantly enamoured by the dandelion seeds in the wind and sweeping hills, they made their way toward the city on foot.
“So, what exactly is the problem with my name?” The Doctor asked.
“The Doctor or Dottore is a bad man. He works for a big scary company who do harm everywhere they go!” Collei fearfully shouted before taking a breath. “He is an unstoppable genius, who does experiments on people and even himself. He did one that created different clones of himself at different phases in life. It multiplied his own brain power and now he runs experiments all over Teyvat at the same time!” Now with the full picture, The Doctor could finally understand.
“This man….. I think is the me in this universe.” He pondered.
“This universe??” Collei was getting confused now.
“Oh yes, of course! I’m an alien from another universe also called the Doctor; who also, sort of, has multiple versions of himself.” He didn’t expect the young girl walking at his side to believe him, but she seemed not to question him.
“Are you a genius like him?” She wondered. The Doctor made an awkward sound.
“Ah well, I suppose some people might say that…sometimes.” He babbled. “But I am nothing like him.”
Finally, they had arrived in the city. Collei ignored the Doctor mumbling something about ‘Germenie?’ and took a million mental images of the street in front of her. Peach cobblestones, surrounded by bustling buildings with bold bunting strings bringing bright colours to her eyes, all crested by a giant statue of the anemo god of freedom. The tiredness that dragged her down was worth it for the sights she had dreamed of for as long as she could remember.
“Are you alright there Collei?” The Doctor was concerned with her paling face, but trusted her when she said she was fine. They continued on, making their way up the stairs towards the big statue when the sonic screwdriver beeped.
“The vortex has started to fluctuate.” He solemnly stated. “I’ll have to go back to the TARDIS after we see the statue, or I won’t make it back to my universe.” Collei focused her eyes to the top of the stairs, not wanting him to see her sadness. She understood, but there was still a pang in her heart.
“Look! We’re here.” She changed the subject, grateful for the stairs ending. The statue seemed even more vast when stood at its feet and Collei couldn’t help but giggle at the little children weaving in and out of the archways surrounding the area. As she moved her head to follow their path, she noticed everything had begun to move too. Faster and faster, her vision spun until it went white and she fell to the ground.
——-
Awaking in a small bed once more Collei shot upright, hands going straight to her wrists. Her relief that her adventure wasn’t a dream didn’t last long as she realised that she had probably been unconscious too long for the Doctor to have waited. They hadn’t even gotten to see Springvale or Stormterror’s Lair, never mind the rest of Teyvat. She shook her head to put her selfish worries aside and tried to be happy that her friend made it home. Deciding to look for any sign as to where she could be instead. Not a moment later, the door opened to reveal a young girl with two cute ponytails, who seemed to be a deaconess.
“Oh good! You’re awake!” She gently smiled before her face dropped into a panic. “Wait there! Don’t move!” The church deaconess called over her shoulder as she ran away, leaving Collei bewildered.
Within moments the door opened once more.
“DOCTOR!” Collei jumped out of the bed and threw her arms around him. “I thought you had left.” She admitted.
“We definitely cut it close.” He sighed. “I’m sorry. I have to go now.” He pulled away and sat her back on the bed. “Deaconess Barbara has helped me organise some care for you. A man named Tighnari will be coming to collect you soon, and don’t worry I checked him out myself. He’s a good honest man with medical expertise.” Collei relaxed at the idea a little after hearing the Doctor had been to see Tighnari.
“Cant I come with you?” She was afraid to be alone again.
“No. You would never be able to come back to your universe. I can’t have you be the last of your people too.” A dark look washed over him, showing the raw truth behind his words.
“I’m going to miss you.” She looked down at her feet dangling from the bed.
“Chin up Collei. You are going to be brilliant. Your adventure is just beginning.” He was satisfied leaving when the young girl in front of him lifted her head and gave him a strong, tearful nod. A ghost of a smile remained on her face as she watched him leave. But instead of being sad, she did what she thought the Doctor would tell her to do. She wondered what kinds of adventures would follow after Tighnari came to collect her.

Not just you. The instant miracle cure felt really deus ex machina (and not in a Genshin thematic way)-- it was a narrative reward for Nahida that undercut imo the most poignant parts of v3.0 Dunyarzad
Honestly hsr has 2/2 boring stories with actively problematic endings for the both planets, no one ever talks about how ableist hoyoverse is, they make a disabled npcs that's not a sad kid sitting in the corner for once then she turns out to be the villain, directly because she's disabled. until the actual bigger villain turns up that is.
hm. ok lets unpack. while i do think there are should be more characters representing different types of disabilities, like absolutely, your generalization excludes disabled characters that DO exist and absolutely not sad kids in a corner, and in a way that a lot of mainstream views ppl with chronic illnesses as "not disabled enough".
Dunyarzad is one genshin's best written NPCs, with all the ways her illness affects her life being shown, but having a fleshed out personality that is not centered around her illness, and she is one of main actors and emotional core of sumeru archon quest. Her and Collei being ultimately cured is questionable, but bc there are other characters who are not, like Xiao and Baizhu, i'm willing to let some wish fulfillment slide and also some illnesses do get cured\curated.
so like sure, i'm all pro being critical of how little body types, including disabled bodies, genshin has due to its rancid marketing strategies, lets not dismiss disabled characters it does have, esp bc if you look them up, you can see a lot of disabled ppl talking about how important these characters are to them.
that said, yeah that hsr plot beat was yikes. like they tried to make her come off as sympathetic and like morally complex, and do the "for already disenfranchised immortality can be torturous", but like i dont think it worked enough to justify Evil Bc Blind shit.

iii. jungsu's travels - sumeru
genshin impact x xdinary heroes au - piillow's slumber party special!
wc : 713 | genre : idk just silly, teeny tiny sad parts | a/n : not proofread, sorry :(
≡[。。]≡
“i think this is the right place…” jungsu said to himself as he approached the gates of sumeru city. as he walked around, he took a look at his map and confirmed he was indeed in sumeru city, the land of wisdom.
“now i just need to find the akademiya, i guess i’ll ask around.” he mumbled. he started to get desperate for some answers towards his sister’s disease, and decided to come here after lisa from the knights of favonius suggested he go to the akademiya.
while he walked around, he noticed a blonde guy with a briefcase sitting alone at a restaurant table doing work. he seemed smart, so he might have a clue, right?
“um, excuse me, do you know where the akademiya is? it’s open to the public, right?” he asked, the awkwardness clear in his voice.
“the akademiya? oh, yes, it is. do you have to meet with someone there?” the man asked, to which jungsu shook his head.
“uhh…” he started, “it’s kind of hard to explain. i just want access to the library, that’s all.”
“sure! i’m assuming you need directions, so i’ll come with you. i need to go back anyway.” the man replied, starting to gather his things together.
while they walked, the two of them had a casual conversation, starting to learn some things about each other.
“so, jungsu, you don’t look like you’re from here. are you from… liyue?” kaveh questioned, genuinely curious.
“yes, i am. i’m here to hopefully find a cure to my sister’s disease. the doctor’s said they tried everything, but haven’t found anything that works… i’m worried for her.” jungsu said.
“hm… i see… well, i’m sorry about your sister, first of all. second, i should be able to get you someone who knows the place like the back of his hand.” kaveh scoffed. as much as he hated al haitham, he wanted to help jungsu as much as he could. he just hoped that al haitham would actually go along with it, and not turn jungsu down. it’s not the first time he’s rejected outsiders.
by the time they reached the akademiya, jungsu couldn’t help but stare in awe at the architecture of the building.
“wow… you said you’re an architecture, right? i can see why…” he said in amazement, to which kaveh chuckled.
when the two of them reached the library, kaveh laid his eyes on the one and only. he turned to jungsu, suppressing the urge to start trash-talking.
“there he is. his name is al haitham. he’s basically the leader of the akademiya, but he rejected it. the old grand sage was a power-hungry man, so i guess he doesn’t want the people to perceive him like that too. which, i guess is understandable.” he shrugged.
“he rejected it? huh, i guess it must’ve been really bad…” jungsu said, slightly surprised.
as they walked over to al haitham engaged in his book, kaveh cleared his throat.
“‘scuse me. you’ve got a visitor, and for good reason this time, i promise.” he stated, before turning to jungsu.
“oh, hi. i was just wondering where the books on diseases and medicine are? i’m trying to find a suitable medication for my sister with an unknown condition.” jungsu stated, hoping that al haitham wouldn’t ignore him. he seemed really cold and distant, which would definitely match kaveh’s descriptions…
“medicine? they’re just behind me. you look like you’re from liyue, maybe your sister has eleazar.” al haitham replied in his usual flat tone.
“no, it’s not. i tried giving her proper treatment for it, but nothing happened.” jungsu replied, starting to walk to the bookshelf.
while jungsu looked through the books, kaveh was catching up al haitham on everything he’s currently discovered. all his travels, his findings, and his failures.
since jungsu couldn’t stay in sumeru for very long, al haitham promised him that he’d send him letters whenever a new book came in, so he wouldn’t need to traverse so far.
even after a whole year, al haitham hasn’t broken his promise. whenever jungsu receives a new letter from him, he likes to sit down with xingqiu and baizhu to discuss the new findings, and sometimes the extra messages from kaveh at the bottom of the letter.

Genshin impact hcs for every nation pt.4
Tumblr media
Sumeru edition!
Info: OOC? Mentions of other characters, writing sucks, sorry if I get some lore wrong with some characters! Fyi, none of this is cannon besides the occasional lore mentions (also I was a bit lazy near the end)
Tumblr media
Alhaitham: Alhaitham is surprisingly good at color theory, despite not using it often. How did he learn about it? No one knows
Kandace: Kandace always insists that you should keep your weapons in top shape so they don't stay dirty or break, that being said. Kandace will go out of her way for hours, just polishing/cleaning every single weapon she owns
Collei: Whenever Collei's Eleazar gets out of control, she'll have to use crutches for the time being, of course only if she's slightly stable. If it was any less, then she would immediately be put on bed rest. Collei also decorated it with stickers and bracelets to make her feel a bit better
Cyno: Since Cyno has white hair, one time when Tighnari was getting really fed up with his jokes, he emptied out his shampoo and instead put in black hair dye. For about a couple of weeks, Cyno had a weird black mop on his head that looked like roots
Deyha: On a rare occasion, when someone underestimates Dehya, she'll immediately pretend to be bad at something. When she's finished, she'll point out a flaw she made before going wild and showing off her skills
Dori: Dori used to have extremely bad handwriting, but when she started becoming a more popular merchant. She upped her game and practiced with her handwriting for days until she was proud of the result. She's even dived into calligraphy
Faruzan: Whenever Faruzan has time to herself, she absolutely loves learning about fossils and what animals or creatures used to walk on Tevyat grounds
Kaveh: Kaveh has a very long skincare route and will feel uncomfortable for the rest of the day if he wasn't able to do it in time
Layla: Surprisingly, Layla is secretly really good at ballroom dancing, but not tangoing
Nahida: Nahida has a very soft and unique singing voice, and during the time period when Wanderer was healing, she would use her voice for lullabies to lull him to sleep. Most of the time, she would sing to him when he was asleep, having a nightmare, but it would quickly turn into a dream when he heard Buer's voice
Nilou: Nilou is secretly really good at theater, but since she's put up a more confident persona when dancing, she gets really nervous and shy whenever she has to play pretend since she's not as confident
Tighnari: When Tighnari was growing up, he absolutely loved making fairy houses, and as he grew up, he got better and better at making them! He's even now taught Collei how to make some
Wanderer: Wanderer absolutely sucks at cutting hair, but since he's so used to his usual bowlcut, he's much faster at cutting his own hair
