I can’t claim this “The Last of Us” analysis, but I wanted to share it here because it’s a fascinating thought:

Bill in the game was a cautionary tale. He was a model for what Joel should avoid becoming, which was a closed-off, selfish loner who managed to push away the person he cared about the most.

Bill in the show is Joel’s inspiration/model. He is the one who puts into Joel’s head that he needs to stop being a closed-off, selfish loner and that he must do whatever it takes to save the person he cares about the most.

And what’s cool about this is that, even though both Bills are different, they both served the same purpose regarding Joel’s character.

SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR HOMICIPHER

So I haven't gotten ALL the endings yet, but I did get the "True End", and I've unlocked almost all the CG's, so I wanna give my thoughts on the game. This isn't a full/formal review, it's just my thoughts/first impressions, since it's gonna take me a lot longer to digest a story this big and complex 😩✌🏾

First things first, I do love this game! The concept in and of itself intrigued me so much so that I was looking for updates constantly. I really appreciate Yatsunagi's work, they always do such a good job with the art, characters, and story in their works! Now, I think my biggest gripe with the game is the lack of romance. The promise of being able to romance monster men was what drew me even further to the game originally, and it's tagged as an "otome". I assumed there would be some kinda kissing, hand holding, romantic CG's, something. There's nothing like that, unfortunately. I think the closest you get to "romance", is maybe... Headpats.

I know people are already gonna be telling me, "it's a horror game, stop bitching about there being next to no romance". And to that I say: refer to my earlier point.

Another thing I thought was odd (at least to my understanding, since the translations I had in-game may not be accurate), is that there's at least two Male Leads that don't... Understand love/feelings, so pursuing them is kind of futile. Again, kinda odd in an otome game.

Anyway, I'll finish this rant by saying that for my informal review, I'd still give the game a 4/5! Mr. Silver Hair and Mr. Scarletella, my beloved(s)...

Pristine Cut new routes!

I've currently played through all of the new routes (as in the new branches of Specter, Damsel, and Prisoner) and I just wanted to get all of my initial thoughts down and share them with you guys!

So

I TALK SPOILERS, DONT CLICK THE READ MORE BUTTON IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE NEW ROUTES OR ARE NEW TO THE GAME

The Princess and the Dragon was the first one I did and FINALLY SEEING THE LONG QUIET IN FULL because we're inside the Princess's body is AMAZING!

Like?????

And the fact it confirms that LQ just stares when he's talking with the other voices, and the voices can share control of the body and they actually have distinct mannerisms! For sure now one of my favorite chapters!

The Cage's design is SO COOL! I'm not disappointed in how the Cage turned out cuz the way the Woods look and the Cabin being on a floating island makes it one of the more distinct Ch.3s. I will say that I am disappointed in how my run of the Chapter went cuz Skeptic turned into one of the worst voices for me when he's paired with Paranoid (my favorite voice and unfortunately).

I've heard that there's actually a bunch of variations for this chapter that end up with a happier ending, but the one I got where LQ gets decapitated and he just watches his body fight the Princess's felt a bit too jaded for my tastes. I'm gonna be experimenting to see what else I can do!

And finally...

OH MY GOD HAPPILY EVER AFTER IS OFFCIALLY THE BEST CHAPTER IN THE GAME!!! (in my opinion!)

I'll be honest, Damsel wasn't really my favorite because going through it as it was was just kind of...boring. Deconstructed Damsel was far more interesting because it pointed out the problems with her as she is (and the doodle is hilarious to boot). The Burned Grey, while a cool design, also wasn't really all that impressive to me because that chapter always ends with you and her burning together (but I do get what that route was trying to get at, which is how destructive a person blinded by love can be).

Happily Ever After takes that same idea and applies it to the fricking Smitten! SMITTEN!!

We finally have a chapter where Smitten is taken to the extreme and I'm all for it. The way he kills us to get to it is fricking terrifying, and the form he ends up taking to control the Princess is also heartbreaking (pun partially intended).

BUT HAVING THE FRICKING NARRATOR FINALLY REALIZE HOW BAD HIS IDEA IS AS WELL?????

Him witnessing first hand the torture of having someone else tell you what to do and how you should be happy as well as what stagnant, never-changing life actually looks like....

And him getting a mini-redemption arc out of it🥲

And gaaaaaahhhhhhh that final dance under the stars with her was perfect😭😭😭

I actually didn't want this Princess to go and was so sad when she got picked up by Shifty (its what I felt towards Thorn but like 10x worse).

Overall, I honestly believe that "Princess and the Dragon" & "Happily Ever After" can make great final princesses before Shifty is fully reconstructed. HEA even more so because of Narrator's redemption and I have the sneaking suspicion that getting this as the last Princess might actually change his opinions when you meet him.

The Cage was pretty good, but like I said I need to see a more uplifting variation of it to be more satisfied with the chapter itself.

A/N: This was meant to be a short thing about Astarion using the invisiblity spell for innapropiate means, and delved into an Ascended Astarion, Consort Gale situation

The Willingly Unwilling

“I’m bored.” 

“So you’ve said.” 

“Aren’t you going to do something about it?” 

“I am slightly busy if you hadn’t noticed,” Gale motioned to the books strewn about the table. The parchment filled with his scrawl. The various ingredients. 

Astarion came up behind him and put his hands on his shoulder, slowly he ran them down the length of Gale’s chest, nails scraping the thin material of his shirt. 

“I’m all for having a hobby pet, it’s good to keep yourself occupied but as I said. I. Am. Bored,” he leaned over Gale now, chest pressed against the wizard's back. 

Gale shivered and spread his legs almost automatically as the vampire’s fingers began to knead the flesh of his thighs through his linen pants. 

“I’m nearly finished,” Gale licked his lips. “You promised-” 

“Agreed.” 

“Promised,” Gale repeated. “That I could have time out of the day to do what I wanted, and you would let me.” 

Astarion huffed. “You were playing dirty when I agreed to that.”

“You didn’t agree, you promised,” Gale reached for his quill. “And I’m almost done. We can do whatever you want after I finish.” 

“Perhaps it’s good I didn’t make any more spawn,” Astarion sat back but scraped Gale’s scalp with his nails. “Your stubbornness might rub off on them.” 

Gale leaned his head back at the touch and felt the cold press of lips, sharp fangs along the column of his throat. They were dragged teasingly against the skin before Astarion severed all contact. 

“Fine. I’ll find some other way to entertain myself,” Astarion left the room and Gale rubbed the back of his neck.  

He waved his hand and the door shut behind him. A quick flick of his wrist and a muttered spell and the doors lockeded. Astarion’s displeasure is palpable. 

Gale set the quill down and runs a hand through his hair. He’d lost track of how much time had passed, how long they’d been together in this, gods whatever it was. Everything leading to now felt as if it’d happened simultaneously merely weeks ago as opposed to months, when he first agreed to visit Astarion, to the newly named Ancunin Palace. Astarion had taken a gleeful delight yanking the plaque that adorned the large columns outside the iron gates and breaking it over his knee. 

When Gale had first arrived the palace was nearly stripped bare from the inside. 

“I can’t very well cement my place if everything reeks of old,” Astarion had told him. “So, I gathered everything that belonged to Cazador, minus the jewels and the gold, took it all outside and burned it.” 

Astarion hummed. “I even dusted off a few bottles of wine and enjoyed the little bonfire with a drink or two.” 

“Out with the old, in with the new as they say, no?” 

“Exactly!” Astarion whirled around and grinned at him. “When I said I was going to be better than Cazador, I meant it in every possible way. Just because we are the undead does not mean we must live and dress the part. He had no real sense of taste the more I thought about it.” 

“Astarion, why am I here?” Gale tried not to watch as a servant carried an armful of bloody bedding. 

“Because I asked you to come,” Astarion answered. 

“Yes, I understand, but your letter said that you needed something from me. Help or…or-”

“Help?” Astarion cocked his head to the side. “Nowhere in my letter did I state I needed help.” 

“Assistance then,” Gale replied. 

“Mmm no, no assistance, I’ve plenty of thralls roaming the halls,” Astarion mused. “I don’t need help and I don’t need assistance.” 

“Then why am I here?” Gale tried again. 

“Because I want you here,” Astarion had said. “Because I want your company. Because I want to talk to you, watch you. See you. We are friends, aren’t we Gale?” 

And Gale, like the fool he was, took his words at face value. He tried to keep his visit short, but then Astarion would look at him with those eyes. He’d pour Gale another glass of wine, or brandy, or tea. 

He’d find another book in the palace’s vast library. 

“When I saw it, I wondered how long it’d take you to read every single volume,” Astarion mused. 

The second time he tried to leave, citing his work and his research and wanting to write down his account of their journey Astarion had given him the office with the elevator. 

“I have no use for it,” Astarion shrugged, holding out the key. “Consider it yours to do with as you see fit. No one but you and I shall have the keys.” 

“Are you quite sure?” Gale asked. 

“Of course,” Astarion smiled. “I want you to enjoy yourself while you are here….You are enjoying yourself aren’t you?” 

“I am,” Gale answered.

Can barely contain my thoughts of excitement for M. Bison’s DLC I don’t normally do insane rambling so I’m gonna put this under the cut. Spoilers for Bison’s World Tour stuff below if you haven’t seen and want to experience that yourself!

Ohhhhh my god the absolute relief and joy I feel that they didn’t do away with M. Bison’s amnesia with his world tour. I think the way they went about that in general was pretty well done! I had my concerns about how they were going to handle his story but giving Bison a clear cut disinterest in Shadaloo beyond what it can do for him is GREAT. I think most important to me he is still Bison, just in a brand new package. Personality wise he’s still his violent, jerkish self with a new layer of hostility and disinterest in others due to his amnesia. I love that there’s a consensus in the game that no one views this version of Bison as “complete” even Bison himself making statements about it. And us as the viewer seeing how characters react to that. F.A.N.G is obviously not thrilled with the whole outcome, JP’s win quote paints him as intrigued about Bison not being “his whole self yet” it’s something every Shadaloo member seems to want to remedy and mitigate as fast as possible, but Bison…does not seem to care beyond the annoyance and curiosity of foggy flashing memories. He states even if a more perfect version of him came along he would simply crush them and take their power for his own. In his own words

His specific point of not really caring about reestablishing the organization (he really went “we’ll see about that”) is a huge relief to me. Because the fact he’s more interested in seeing things play out/not particularly bothered or threatened by the existence of the remnants of Shadaloo means that JP can still run his schemes without me having to worry about Capcom using Bison as an “in emergency break glass” Villain (I hope…)

The only reason Bison is hanging around the ruined lab is just a curiosity for the potential strength hidden in these residual memories, even claiming whether or not they actually do anything matters very little to him. He’s perfectly content with his vessel as is only seeking ways to complete it further if the opportunity presents itself. Biding his time and satiating his hunger for strong fights that fuel his psycho power and give him a chance to control it further.

What I wanted most from his DLC story after seeing the trailer was for him to remain disinterested in Shadaloo (we already have a whole cast of characters deeply embroiled in the sort of feud between Neo Shadaloo’s ranks and all the stuff with F.A.N.G and A.K.I), and for him to still have that personality I love so much even if his methods or motives changed, and I got both of these things so I really am a happy camper.

Other things I really liked about this include pretty much everything around Bison’s bond with his horse

- Bison only sparing us initially because his horse likes us (100/10 reasoning I am obsessed with this)

- then proceeding to tell us in another interaction that said horse is above us on the pecking order and that being useful is the only continued reason for his training of us

- the fact he nursed this dying horse back to health complete with psycho power infusion because he could see how determined it was to stay alive is just AAAAAA

Horse enthusiasts M. Bison is my favorite thing besides just his new looks in general and BOY do I think he looks good. I am chock full of ideas of my own and curious about any new things we may still learn! But needless to say the buzz of excitement is still heavy for me. And I didn’t even get into his arcade mode art phewwwww l’ll put those in a separate post. I also want to say that I love the potential that with Bison’s current disinterest it opens an opportunity to see versions of Vega and Balrog without their direct involvement with Shadaloo, something I would love to see.

Overall though I’m glad that amnesia or not Bison is still himself in the best ways possible and I have so many ideas for stuff especially revolving around my oc now. In the meantime just…just look at him <33

This might be a stretch but, since most/all of the changes in “The Last of Us” TV show have been intentionally done by the showrunners so far, did anyone else notice the darker changes to Ellie’s character? Because that scene where Ellie stabs the zombie in the head and steals a gun from Bill’s house was not in the game.

I feel that the show is setting up Ellie’s dark tendencies in this way. You can read the stabbing scene as Ellie’s morbid curiosity with the infected, especially since she cut the infected’s head open first, which was completely unnecessary. Also, in the game, Ellie first picked up a gun to defend Joel. In the show, Ellie steals a gun that belonged to Joel’s friends, who he just learned had died, and from behind his back, which is significantly less heroic. These are small scenes, but these scenes do add up as the show goes on.

Possible reason I can think of for these changes to Ellie’s character: To better justify Ellie’s villainous actions in the second game. It wasn’t just Joel’s death that brought this out of her, she’s had these dark tendencies from the start.
