#Fun fact I've never had gazpacho! Was going to maje some for today#But didn't have a chance to go shopping (was on campus all day) and since I'm close to Thanksgiving break don't have the ingredients here :#(Also didn't know before RD that it wasn't a hot soup. The only reason I never would've pulled a Rimmer#is that I'd be too nervous to call the waiter back.#More prone to fall into a reverse Gazpacho Event: Getting served tomato soup cold and not having the courage to get it sent back)#Anyways! I'm sure we'll make a good and totally normal bowl of Gazpacho :)))#Red Dwarf#Original Post

very mad that i wasn't allowed to argue with the 6th graders that Actually cereal is a soup and you cannot come up with a taxonomy that excludes cereal without having some sort of soup be left out, because then the next stage would be to inflict the Drawfee pizza, sandwich, salad discourse onto them and now i don't get to 😔
#drawfee#one kid said soup has meat in it#i raise you broccoli and cheddar#cereal is too cold to be soup!#well what about gazpacho?#soup has to have seasoning in it#what do you think the sugar in cereal is for#chirp chirp

Guess who
I actually thought that I’d answered this one… oops!
So, I’m currently working procrastinating on a couple of WIPs — namely, From The Vaults and my OG novel, which needs a fresh round of editing. However, I’ve spoken about that one’s playlist a hundred times now, so let’s look at the others!
The FTV shorts I’m focussing on for now are ones for the Ship Weekend. Two of these take place in the run-up to the Celestial Ball in Year 4. For these, I’m taking two songs from my Saga playlists: I Love To Boogie and Dancing in the Moonlight. There’s also one from the Valentine’s Ball in Year 6, so for that I’m choosing Heartache Tonight, which is the song for that fateful night in the Saga playlists. The last one is a KimChi short, the song for which isn’t on the playlists, but is Freedom because it inexplicably has lovesick Jae vibes for me.
I also need to edit a semi-platonic Chartemis short for the Ship Weekend. Seeing as my last Chartemis story took its name from a Smiths song, let’s go for Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want.
The other story that keeps spinning around in my brain atm is another original novel. I’m still at the planning stage right now, but I already know that the songs of Aretha Franklin will be featuring heavily in the playlist. The song that I cannot dissociate from this one in particular is her iconic version of Son Of A Preacher Man.

Last time I was at a QR restaurant I had to download and then delete three different QR code reader apps before I found one that worked while the waitress kept reappearing every two minutes, increasingly annoyed at me like I was the one who made this nonsense marketing decision.
#also it was a Grilled Cheese-specific restaurant#and the “tomato soup” that came with the sandwiches was a tablespoon of ice cold spiced gazpacho#which is INCORRECT

Gazpacho
Niektórzy zalecają octy winne produkowane z wysokiej jakości win Sherry de Jerez z okolic Jerez de la Frontera, ewentualnie octy z regionu Montilla-Moriles, jedne i drugie certyfikowane Chronioną Nazwa Pochodzenia (D.O.P.), zaś inni uważają, że wystarczy uczciwy ocet winny (skoro uczciwy, to raczej niewinny?!), byle nie balsamiczny.
Choć trudno w to uwierzyć, słynna hiszpańska zupa istnieje też w wariancie ciepłym: to gazpacho tostado, z rozmoczonym pieczywem, pomidorem, papryką i sokiem z sewilskich pomarańczy oraz gazpacho manchego i gazpacho serrano.
6 dojrzałych pomidorów zielona papryka (u mnie 8 pimientos de padrón) 1/2 czerwonej papryki 2 czerwone cebule ogórek 2-3 ząbki czosnku 80 ml oliwy z oliwek e.v. 20 ml octu winnego łyżeczka kminku (opcjonalnie) sól i czarny pieprz do smaku kilka kromek bagietki (lub innego pszennego pieczywa) 2 gałązki szczypioru
Wykonanie:
Opłukać pomidory, papryki, ogórek. Pokroić warzywa na kawałki, usuwając z pomidorów twarde szypułki, a z sześciu papryk gniazda nasienne.
Cebule i czosnek obrać. Cebule pokroić w dużą kostkę, czosnek w plasterki.
Do kielicha blendera wrzucić po kolei: pomidory, cebulę i czosnek. Pomidory mają najwięcej soku i ułatwią blenderowi rozdrobnienie twardszych składników. Zmiksować na gładko.
Dodać kawałki papryki, ogórka i ponownie zmiksować, aż pulpa osiągnie pożądaną gładkość. Dosmakować solą i pieprzem. Wlać ocet i - jeśli chcemy uzyskać rzadszą konsystencję - wodę. Zmiksować i w trakcie dolewać oliwę z oliwek.
Gazpacho wlewać do miseczek, obsypać dodatkami i skropić oliwą z oliwek. Można też serwować w szklankach, wówczas bez dodatków.
Cieszcie się latem, bo szybko mija!

This time last week I was in Washington, DC for a short trip, and so I was finally able to make my first trip to the DC Jaleo location, which was just as marvelous as anticipated. As part of the sandwich combo I ordered for lunch, my flauta came with my choice of gazpacho, salad, or potato chips, and I opted for gazpacho. This time around, however, the gazpacho on offer was a beet-tomato gazpacho, and as someone who has tried to get into beets with middling results, I was a bit nervous.
It was amazing, and I knew my husband would love it, so I made it for dinner this past weekend. (Spoiler: I was not wrong.) It’s so good that I’m making it for holiday celebrations this week, and I’m going to sip on the leftovers for the rest of the week. Look for the recipe on the blog later this week!
