You may remember Ruwa Romman as the representative from Georgia who would have given a speech at the DNC if the Harris campaign had not its head up its ass.
I read this and cried a lot. I so very desperately want this country to be worthy of the faith she and other Palestinians place in it.

While Americans are distracted watching the Super Bowl, Israel has chosen to begin bombing over a million Palestinians.
It’s timed too conveniently to be a coincidence.
There’s nothing we can do to stop this but please don’t be silent. Even if you’re watching the game, please use your voice to condemn genocide in this moment and afterwards.

lol the NYT published an article about how western states are "losing the information war against Hamas" and how "an alliance of authoritarian governments has succeeded in fomenting illiberal antidemocratic sentiment... where accusations of American or Western colonialism or dominance find fertile soil" (actual quote). no I think you're just obviously in the wrong here and everyone can see through your bullshit

Weird. I have been repeatedly assured, including just this morning, that Biden personally loves doing genocide.

saw someone throw this around so gonna put it on here as well:
if taylor swift actually said something about this world’s ongoing genocide, we would have so much more money given to palestians.
ariana grande and jenna ortega brought attention to pcrf, they raised over 600k$ through their fanbases.
melanie martinez, coldplay, and mitski both at concerts have raised the flag of palestine and spread awareness at their concerts.
macklemore has made a song called “hind’s hall” and all proceeds have gone towards unrf.
the weeknd has donated 4.5 mil and so many other artists have at least done the bare minimum.
taylor swift has said nothing about the genocide of palestine and is the only billionaire who has reached said status via the music industry.
taylor’s silence is deafening.
why has she not taken the eras tour movie, a recording of the most successful tour the world has seen that she earns over a million from every performance out of theaters in israel?
why is it that she blocked comments when the swifties for palestine movement protested on the same day of the eras tour final show in madrid?
why is taylor swift the only billionaire in the music industry and she has said nothing about the mass murder of palestinians while headlining the most financially successful tour the world has ever seen?
the fact that taylor went out of her way to detail how she regretted staying silent of the 2016 election in the usa because she wants to be seen as someone who “was on the right side of history” tells a lot about her as a person. what says even more about her is every single fucking statement above, it is so hypocritical of a woman who stated that she wanted to be “on the right side of history”.
if taylor were to announce reputation tv at the eras tour but wait to release it until palestine was fully freed, it would save a life. it would save hundreds of lives. it could be the thing that pushes palestine to the freedom that they have deserved ever since the nakba. but seeing the reputation taylor alone has made for herself, i can barely see her doing it at all.
the fact we can have one end of the earth shaking it off at a multimillion dollar tour and the other facing the closest thing we’ve seen to hell on earth is fucking horrible.
swifties for palestine, thank you. also what do you think of my new concept for the 22 t shirt. it’s not gonna spell out speak now taylor’s version in the red letters but i still think it’s cool

Was it just me or were they channeling Stardust Express* during the roller skating portion of Usher's halftime show?
I'm going to have "Yeah" in my head like it's 2005. There are few other things that will activate older millennials** like the fucking Manchurian Candidate.
Damn Usher still look good. Probably better actually.
How is a country taking out a fucking propaganda ad during the Superbowl while they bomb the shit out of a city they told people to flee, during the halftime show, not a Black Mirror episode? I feel like there should be a thinkpiece or blog post about the limits of fiction in an absurdist and increasingly(?) horrific world, but all I can muster is a primordial howl.
--
* My parents took me and my cousin to Las Vegas many years ago and we saw the production there. I'm pretty sure my dad purchased tickets only because they were cheap. It was an extremely strange experience.
** The other being PUSA's "Peaches"***
*** COME FROM A CAN THEY WERE PUT THERE BY A MAN / IN A FACTORY DOWNTOOOOWWWWWNNNNN

If you're a Taylor Swift or Selena Gomez fan...please don't interact with my blog because I'm going to assume you support and encourage white feminism and you will be blocked.
Both celebrities have the ability to encourage their fans to boycott brands listed on the BDS list, both celebrities have the ability to encourage their fans to call and email their reps, both celebrities have the ability to encourage their fans to educate themselves about Palestine and post about the war on Gaza - but they won't because they don't actually care about human life, they care about being "politically correct" and not doing anything that will cost them money.
Selena who has always stood for kindness has shown her lack of it with regards to Palestine. Taylor who has always stood for activism has shown her hypocrisy by not only polluting this world with her private jet but also by refusing to even address the on-going genocide.
Liking their music does not inherently mean you are a bad person but defending their actions and endorsing them will make me question your moral stance.
Don't say you support Palestine when you support celebrities like them. And don't clain that they are kind souls when they have done nothing to spread awareness about Palestine. They chose ignorance, they chose silence and they chose to stand with the oppressor.

‏Hello my friends, I am Nada from Gaza🍉♥️. I studied law for 4 years and applied to practice for 2 years. There was a week left for the exam and then the war came. The effort of 7 years was wasted. My husband had an accessories store and unfortunately it was destroyed. I had a very beautiful house. I lost everything because of the war and you can see that through the pictures. I am now homeless. I live in a tent. We have no income. My only hope is your support to get out of this situation. My family and I have children who need a future and a clean environment. You are the only hope. Support me through the link in my CV. Even 10 or 20 dollars would make a difference in my life and my family’s. You are the reason for rebuilding my life. Thank you for your humanity. https://gofund.me/ 🍉🍉🍉
it doesn’t take a superhero from a movie to save a life. just a little humanity

at the height of her career, the silence is deafening, and i have questions
listen, my sister has been a Swiftie for over a decade, BUT we both find it insane that she's at the height of her career and she can't find the time to publicly denounce the genocide in Palestine.
i KNOW we shouldn't depend on celebrities to get a message across, but we literally protest by the MILLIONS and no one listens.
the best time to speak up was yesterday. the second best time to speak up is today.
although i refuse to put that kind of faith in her specifically, i appreciate the other big names that have come forwards to call out the despicable actions that have been committed against the Palestinian people for 75 years. Colonialism is a disease.
i have to ask, if in a few decades from now, we will look back and see how she spoke over people who were condemning these events? will we even remember that someone even mentioned Gaza the night she announced her new album?
i have questions and i want answers
she doesn't owe anyone anything, of course, but all humans have SOME sort of moral code. Usually hearing "+30,000 deaths, including +15,000 children, in less than a year" is enough to get people asking questions at the very least. She hasn't even vague posted about it :/

Dear Taylor
I’d like to preface by saying this is not intended as a hate message at all, rather I urge you to see where I’m coming from as someone who really genuinely loves your music.
To put it bluntly, there is a genocide going on right now in Palestine and while I and every other Palestine supporter condemn the violence and the killings on both sides, it is clear which side is being oppressed and needs support. Despite the lies the media may spin (which I know you could testify to yourself) there is so much proof as to who is being wronged that there is no excuse for not speaking up.
Taylor you’ve written so many amazing songs, you’ve written about love and heartbreak and death. You’ve written about betrayals, vengeance and success. The power you hold, along with your army of dedicated fans is unbelievable and they are ready to go to the ends of the earth for you. That’s why you, of all people cannot be silent on such a crucial matter.
The torture, the violation, the horror the Palestinians are facing is unfathomable. They have no rights, no food, no shelter. Young girls are being raped and abused. So many of them are children. So many of them are innocent children who have done nothing wrong except being born and they have no hopes for a bright future, no chance of fulfilling their dreams. Instead they live through every day wondering if it will be their last.
As human beings, as people, we cannot afford to stand by in silence while the Palestinians are being wiped out in masses. We cannot. We have to do the right thing, regardless of the consequences.
Yes, people will hate. Yes you might lose fans. But not only will you seal your place in the hearts of many more, when all this is over, one way or another, you won’t just be remembered for being an incredible songwriter. You will be remembered for siding with justice and taking a stand against oppression, and, at the end of the day, isn’t that what’s more important?
We love your music, but we also love the person behind them, the person who loves her fans and has shown herself to be a good person, who stands up for others and we need that Taylor more than ever now. As they say, ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ and you have so much power. Your words are able to move people and stir their hearts.
We urge you to use that power, to use your voice for what’s right because it will have an impact. Silence is not an option. Palestine needs you. Please lend your support to these people, these men, women and babies who are suffering through some of the worst atrocities ever.
Yours sincerely,
Your fans
