3.4 Major
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader
Summary: Lily McIntyre, trainer for new SHIELD recruits at the Avengers Tower, has been in love with her best friend, Bucky Barnes, from the moment she met him. She's been content with her role of the #1 girl in Bucky's life, even if it means she has to sabotage a romantic relationship or two. It'll be worth it when he realizes that they're meant for each other, right? There's just one small problem: Lily McIntire never expected Bucky Barnes to fall for You.
Warnings: (For this part only; see Story Masterlist for general Warnings) Language, mentions of Bucky's past, minor fluff.
Word Count: 482
Previously On...: Bucky and Lily went out to brunch, and Bucky lied about his upcoming plans with you.
A/N: I'm going to let you all know well in advance that, once I finish posting through Chapter 5, I am going to take a small break from updating so I can write (I'm thinking maybe a week, tops). I've had some things going on recently that have been taking up a lot of my mental and emotional energy, which has prevented me from being as invested in the story as I want to be, so I need to take some time to get myself in the right headspace to where the story just flows out. I'm currently only two chapters ahead, and that makes me nervous, so I would like to build my buffer back up again. So, there will be a pause in updates starting on Tuesday, May 14th, and updates will resume on Tuesday, May 21st. I do hate doing this, and I know that, as a reader, it's so annoying when you have to wait between updates, but it needs to be done in order to provide you with the best story possible. I probably should have taken more time between finishing Unwanted and beginning to post With Friends Like These..., but I was too eager to share it with all of you to wait, lol. I want to be upfront and honest with all of you ahead of time, so I hope you understand.
NOTE! The tag list is a fickle bitch, so I'm not really going to be dealing with it anymore. If you want to be notified when new story parts drop, please follow @scoonsaliciousupdates
Thank you to all those who have been reading; if you like what you've read, likes, comments, and reblogs give me life, and I truly appreciate them, and you!
You’d spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon digging up everything you could about Bucky’s trial. At first, you were getting nowhere, not being able to find any information about ‘Bucky Barnes,’ but then you nearly slapped yourself on the head when you recalled Lily referring to him as ‘Jamie.’ Obviously, ‘Bucky’ was a nickname, and once you searched ‘James Barnes + trial,” you were nearly overwhelmed by the number or results you got.
Meticulously, you went through them, as if you were gathering intelligence for a military op. You read all about his history in World War II with Steve (which, admittedly, you sort of already knew about from Nat), but things took a turn when you discovered he’d been declared MIA: Presumed Dead, only to resurface around 2014.
You nearly started crying when you read what had been done to him– the loss of his arm, the experiments, the serum, all under the control of the terrorist group, Hydra. The brainwashing. And you really did start to cry when you read about what Hydra had made him do for them. The assassinations, the murders. Screw whatever Zadie and Rand thought. This poor man was a victim. One who didn’t deserve to spend a moment behind bars. Your heart positively broke for him.
You were wiping the tears from your eyes when Zadie popped her head in. “Hey, Major,” she said, a devilish smile on her face. “You got a delivery.”
You look back at her, puzzled. You weren’t expecting anything. Getting up from your chair, you made your way to the front reception area. There, on Zadie’s desk, was a beautiful gold bowl holding a live fuschia orchid plant.
“There’s a note!” Zadie squealed, bouncing on her toes and wringing her hands together in excited anticipation.
Biting your lip, you reached over and picked up the note. Unfolding it, you tried to make out the messy scrawl:
‘Major,
Thanks for bringing some beauty into my life last night. Figure it’s only fair I return the favor. Looking forward to seeing you tonight for dinner. - Bucky’
“Oh. My. God.” Zadie picked up a piece of paper from her desk and began fanning herself. “I don’t care how many people that guy murdered,” she said. “That’s the most romantic fucking thing I’ve ever seen!” She paused. “How did he even know orchids are your favorite?”
“I don’t know,” you said, gently running your finger along the edges of the soft petals. “I guess I’ll have to ask him tonight.” You looked back at the note, rereading it, and smiling. You felt your stomach fill up with butterflies, as though you were a sixteen year old girl again, getting flowers from a boy for the very first time. God, but this man seemed absolutely perfect.
But you were never this lucky. You couldn’t help but wonder when the other shoe would drop.

For the ask game: do your durge and gortash coordinate clothes?
I wanted to get at this when I had time cause it's a bit of a long multifaceted answer that I have spent way too long contemplating because im obsessed with fashion. I'll include some art and photos because I'm extra. but the short answer is yes.
Gortash is prone to wearing luxury Baldurian fashions in black and red with gold accents.
Achaia wears the same red and golds but is more prone to wearing white before he and Gortash become an item, and he switches to black afterwards. His fashion however is very much loose flowing art silks, folded in a dhoti style for his pants, if he wears a shirt it's a kurta style tunic. He'll wear sarees and dresses, anything flowy that's beautiful when he's moving around.
Gortash will occasionally add a long silk shawl in a matching color to his own outfits to tie their looks together. And once in a while Gortash can get Achaia in a high collared Baldurian jacket.
After the events of the game if he rejects Bhaal and destroys the brain, Achaia swaps his red primary color for a fuschia to match his new eyes, which are orchid pink, tho he keeps the golds and blacks to match Gortash(who has to be alive or Achaia takes control of the brain to go get his man, at which point he keeps the reds regardless)
After he rejects Bhaal Achaia does have a bit of a fashion crisis because he sees a lot of his clothing tying him to much to a man he can't remember being but his fashion preferences win out eventually. Also Gortash loves the easy access the folded silk pants give him.
Under the cut I'll include some of the outfit inspirations I use when I'm working on Achaia's looks
I like to think that by the time Achaia is dressing in the pinks and fuschia's that match his eyes, Gortash is also replacing the reds in his own outfits so they match.
And this is actually how they look if Gortash ascends to Demi-godhood and Achaia becomes his chosen

Better late than never right (looks directly at the camera)
⬅[Prev] Day 7: Free Day
@ygoc-week Day 7.2: The F in Free Day stands for Flower Language (Final)
i'm very normal about flowers and symbolism okay
Originally I picked the Hibiscus for Fuschia because it has a loud appearance just like him, but then I found out it represents fame, glory and riches?? Perfect for mr get that bread (he also likes the edible kind)
also apparently you can use it to denote if you're married or not in Hawaii well he sure is a househusband thumbs up emoji
With their dignified and noble appearance, I immediately looked towards white Chrysanthemums for Viol! They require lots of water, and this boy can pack so much ocean-related imagery
White chrysanthemums in particular also symbolise mourning and are used in many parts of the world at funerals, and he's had to deal with two major losses in his life (one before and one during the war).
According to this one Japanese blog I found, the name (kiku) comes from the word for dead end because it's the "last flower to bloom in the year" and that's very funny so apt to me because it symbolises the fate of those from the Fusion Dimension that crossed his path during the war (except for one little guy)
Jackie was another character where I assigned a flower to her out of vibes and then when I checked its symbolism it was a match made in heaven yippee
Camellias are bold, beautiful, and being winter bloomers, tough and resilient. As an orphan that climbed her way up the social ladder in the Synchro Dimension through years of shady side-jobs, that alone would have cinched the assignation, but on top of that, camellias also represent eternal love and long-lasting devotion as the petals and calyx fall together when the flower withers.
Jackie is a very social creature, and here, she's holding (slowly letting go of) yellow camellias, which represent friendship, highlighting what's most important to her...
The Ghost Orchid has no cool symbolism or flower language associated with it (yet, anyway) but it has plenty of characteristics to derive meaning from!
Inhabiting swamps and forests and blooming once a year or sometimes even none at all, it's an extremely rare specimen.
It's largely leafless, and relies on its roots rather than photosynthesis for nutrients. Likewise, instead of relying on others like how plants require sunlight, Fleur sets up her spider web throughout the Synchro Dimension to accomplish her goals.
Also, both she and the plant have the same little scarf!! (Another happy coincidence)
Bonus lore!! (since its related) Jackie also has a habit of assigning flowers and animals to all the women she meet (Viol is the odd exception) and keeps track of them in a little notebook she carries around (and me with a handy dandy excel sheet).

Styling a silk slip
I picked up another solid colour silk slip from Silk Laundry, this time in bronze. I find the quality of their silk and the bias-cut drape of their slips to be really excellent. They are my go-to lounge wear, supremely comfortable, more so than sweats, yet also glamourous.
I bought this piece to wear out as well and thought I'd share some styling ideas instead of my typical review. The silk slip is a great starting place to experiment because it's like a blank canvas. Its luxurious simplicity makes it so easy to work with. You can dress it up or down. You can incorporate it into a variety of moods. Here, I'm going to visit three common slip dress looks but give them a little twist.
Pairing a slip dress with a fur stole, stilettos, clutch and jewelry is pretty standard but it's also very predictable. Here, I've taken advantage of the simplicity of the slip and neutral chocolate brown stole to introduce an unusual statement gold headpiece by Agent Provocateur and other accessories to support its drama, a classic gold snakeskin knuckle duster clutch by Alexander McQueen, matching burnt bronze snakeskin heels by Tom Ford, and an antique snake armband. Each supporting piece is interesting but not to the point where they detract from the head piece. Simple but memorable. Such an opulent yet sleek look could also contrast well with the overblown romanticism of Kurkdjian's Absolue Pour Le Soir.
A slip dress with a white t-shirt and Doc Martens is very 90s. Here I've updated and elevated this classic grunge look with a Parisian striped mockneck tee, leather driving gloves with gold chain detailing, a sage Chloe purse with a touch of that French boho vibe, a matching green, black and white scarf by Hermes which you could tie to the purse or style with your hair, and a McQueen earcuff to polish off this elegant bad girl vibe. I like the bronze and green colour scheme because it feels "natural" but you could swap the greens out for a different colour, like a pale orchid and fuschia. I'd also swap out the 90's CK One for Etat Libre's smoky, sheer jasmine, which I think makes for a perfect finishing touch to this edgy feminine outfit.
A slip dress, cozy sweater and neutral suede boots make for a lovely, simple autumnal trio. But I thought we could have more fun with it by choosing this matching mohair sweater by Marni which adds more texture and pops of colour for contrast. The accessories build around the sweater with a lavender wool Ganni beret, two-toned crystal ring and asymmetrical earrings by Justine Clenquet and just one mauve crocodile moto glove since we'll need the other hand bare for the ring. The pieces are all just a little bit different in colour from the sweater so the look remains dynamic and not too matchy-matchy. We close this eclectic magpie outfit with ivory wide-leg kitten heel boots from ba&sh and this quirky bright yellow "Do Not Disturb" tote by PZtoday which looks small in this pic but is actually massive! An off kilter look like this would pair well with an unusual perfume like the strangely sweet, earthy, and spicy Rouge by CdG.

colors: fuschia and dark orchid (bernat baby yarn cakes)
wanted to try something with gradient yarn this time!
kinda realizing i should've cut out more of the whiter ends of the yarn if i wanted more color but it's still pretty cool
started at the bottom with 2 dark orchid and 1 fuschia, then switched to 2 fuschia and 2 dark orchid when i ran out so it'd be reversed
border was made with some of the remaining colored yarn, the fuschia end has a dark orchid border before it switches
it's also thinner and longer than my previous blankets (this one started with an 80 chain instead of 85)
learned from THIS video

Hi hi! Still a bit hyper! Not sure if you saw this one, yet. Sorry if you have!
What are your & the Dorfbots & Botmise's favorite flowers? Top 5 overall categories, whether by color or by type. I, personally, really like lilies, irises, orchids, gladiolus, fuschias, sakuras, wisterias, roses, water lilies, & other similar flowers. But if a flower is purple, pink, blue, or twotoned/gradient, then I'm more likely to like it.
For specifics, I especially love stargazer lilies. For instance, Oriental Stargazers like Asiatic Forever Susans & Goldband Lilies, & roselilies or double lilies like Anouska Lilies & Magic Stars. I also like tiger lilies & daylilies. For irises, I love bearded irises, Siberian irises, purple Dutch irises, & so on. Orchids just, in-general, are gorgeous, period. Most gladiolus are also super pretty, but I especially like purple, pink, & orange ones.
See this? Forever Susan.
Ansouka Lilies:
Gladioluses (I also really just love their symbolism & stuff):
And, here's fuschias:
But, I think you'll like blue lagoon lilies:
I’m sure that some of the Dorfs would like holiday cactus flowers, any variety of Selenicereus & Epiphyllum cactus flowers (TP might especially miss the Night-Blooming Cereus & the Queen of the Night, a.k.a. Selenicereus undatus & Selenicereus grandiflora, respectively, the flowers that grows from Voltfruit Cacti), the Mother of Millions succulent flower (Kalanchoe delagoensis).
Holiday cacti:
Cereus:
Mother of Millions:
The Queen of the Night would likely be an especially profound memory for most as they only bloom once a year & when they do, it's en masse in a dramatic display. Not to mention, they are known for being very big, beautiful, & especially fragrant before wilting at dawn. (I imagine that the Gerudo would have their own flower-viewing festival of sorts specifically for it for this very reason, as well as due to moths & keese, as well as ordinary bats, flocking to them during that time. I imagine my Everlost Moths being the moths that would do so, as they're fairly large & known for glowing a light aqua blue at night. It would likely also act as a signal for Gerudo sericulturists that the next harvest season was on its way, which is always something to look forward to as it means an economic increase for the Gerudo. Not to mention, the visual display is likely absolutely enchanting under the light of the full moon.)
Though, I think that WW would likely be fond of the Exotic Flower (which I refer to as Morning Clareta, a type of Echinocereus) as it appears to resemble a very specific type of rainbow cactus which might remind him of the cacti of his homelands.
At the same time, I’m sure that there’d be other sorts of flowers they’d like too. Whether it be due to symbolism, floriographic meaning, or simply finding them to be aesthetically pleasing. Though, I very much doubt that TotK would like Silent Princesses or Sundelions due to their association with Princess Zelda & Queen Sonia.
For me, I think that WW & TotK would appreciate the quiet, dignified beauty & elegance of sakura blossoms. (Would they be called Satori blossoms, here? Hmm...)
I really like all flowers! Never had a chance to think about a favorite. I do like those blue lagoon lillies! Forever Susans look very pretty. Um, Sweet Williams are nice. I loved them as a kid cuz they share the same name as my dad. I really like Succulents, just cuz I have a black thumb and kill all other plants XC But Succulents can look very pretty as well!
************************************************************************
The Ganondorfs (from Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Hyrule Warriors, and Tears of the Kingdom) and Demise have distinct personalities and styles, which would also influence their favorite flowers. Here's a breakdown of their preferences:

Desert Flowers (Cacti blooms) – Any cactus flowers, specifically ones that bloom briefly but intensely, remind him of the harsh desert life.
Hibiscus (Red) – They represent passion and fierce beauty, which aligns with his own forceful approach to life and conquest.
Ganondorf (Twilight Princess)
Favorite Flower Types:
Night-Blooming Cereus (Queen of the Night) – These would hold a special place in his memory of the Gerudo homeland, blooming under moonlight and symbolizing the secretive and powerful.
Blood Lilies (Red Lilies) – Their deep red symbolizes both bloodshed and fierce vitality, which resonate with his combative spirit.
Holiday Cactus Flowers (Selenicereus and Epiphyllum varieties) – The rugged beauty of these blooms during harsh conditions would reflect his own endurance.

Favorite Flower Types:
Gladiolus (Purple, Red, Yellow) – Signifying moral strength, honor, and remembrance, these bold and upright flowers reflect his commanding nature in battle.
Tiger Lilies – Symbolizing wealth and pride, their fierce appearance and vibrant colors match his explosive presence and ego.
Golden Sunflowers – Their strong stalks and radiant blooms echo his desire for dominance and superiority.
Irises (Purple) – Associated with valor and royal lineage, these would align with his aspirations for absolute power.
Dahlias (Dark Red or Purple) – Symbolizing elegance, inner strength, and commitment, dahlias fit his need for both refinement and power.
Ganondorf (Tears of the Kingdom)
Favorite Flower Types:
Desert Lotus – The idea of beauty rising from adversity would align with his personal journey and desire to reshape the world.
Irises (Blue and Purple) – Their symbolism of wisdom, hope, and royalty fits his vision of himself as the true ruler of Hyrule.
Blood Lilies – These bold flowers represent sacrifice, power, and vitality, something he would view as essential in his conquest.
Acanthus (Bear’s Breeches) – Symbolizing immortality and eternal power, the regal and fierce look of acanthus appeals to his grandiose ambitions.
Silent Princess – While he may not like its association with Zelda, he would acknowledge its symbolism of rarity, persistence, and strength, all qualities he believes he possesses.
Demise
Favorite Flower Types:
Blood Lilies – Representing the essence of bloodshed, power, and life-force, they align with his desire for destruction and dominance.
Dragon Lilies – Symbolizing otherworldly strength and mythical power, they appeal to his god-like persona.
Orchids (Black, Red) – Their exotic and dark beauty symbolizes mystery and strength, qualities Demise prizes.
Nightshade – A poisonous flower, symbolizing danger and darkness, would suit his malevolent nature.
Bromeliads (Red, Orange) – Their spiked, fiery appearance represents the force of nature and destruction that Demise embodies.
Each version of Ganondorf, along with Demise, would be drawn to flowers that represent power, mystery, beauty, and resilience. They share an appreciation for flowers with dramatic blooms or bold colors that symbolize their strength and ambitions.
