This disability pride, in honour of my grandma, who gets mad when I call myself disabled, please reblog and scream:
I’M DISABLED
In whatever way you like, just do it. Get it out there, combat all the people who don’t like you using that word!

to my fellow disabled people - i promise you that your existence and your needs and wants are not burdens and they will not be a burden to the right people. i’m so sorry if you need to rely on people who make you feel like a burden or if you need to rely on abusive people or anything similar. i want you to know that it isn’t your fault. you didn’t chose this. one day we’ll find the people that will love us right and love as the way we deserve. you all deserve love and support and you deserve to have your needs met. just know, even if you feel completely alone, i’m rooting for you all. whether i know you or not, whether you think you deserve it or not, i’m rooting for you.

i wish there was more of a community for FND on here. this disorder is scary and sudden and feels like every neurological symptom in a trench coat (from non epileptic seizures to tics to chronic fatigue to gait difficulties to functional paralysis—)
so if anyone else seeing this has FND too, just know you’re not alone. it’s supposedly such a common disorder yet we’re all isolated from each other. sending virtual hugs to anyone struggling this disability pride month

Thinking about how epic it is for me to finally get my FND diagnosis during disability pride month heheh
Got some mobility back with the dx (FND is funky like that) but I still am very much not able bodied, at least not yet, may not ever be. My joints will likely be messed up from all the tension from the functional seizures and immobility, and I still don’t have good balance. My feet still go numb/ tingly pretty frequently, but I can do stairs a lot now! I’m only using my cane as opposed to rollator and wheelchair most often, and it makes me happy that I can move around a bit more!
I’m doing physical therapy and will be starting a DBT program sometime, when they can get me in. Very glad to have answers and be getting help.

What do you mean by 4th time wheelchair user?
I’ve had 4 different wheelchair eras including this one!
Once when I was in third grade(severe leg pain)
Once when I was in 7th grade(extream nausea, lightheadedness, and weakness from moving around at all, I couldn’t speak or dress myself)
Once earlier this year for a similar problem but it didn’t progress as quickly so it didn’t get as bad. Also it was more physically collapsing and lightheadedness than nausea.
And months after that, I recently had to go back to my wheelchair because of a very painful rash on my theighs. It’s so bad I can’t walk very far and have to converse my steps as much as possible.
The first 3 were from my AMPS, conversion disorder, and autonomic dysfunction. We don’t know hwat is quite wrong with my legs right now though

Happy Disability Pride and awareness month! Let's talk about Epilepsy!
Tumblr media
Hi there! I got tired of seeing my condition (that impacts my literal every day life) being left out or forgotten about during discussions about disabilities, so I made my own post about it! Let's go!
First Off! What the heck is epilepsy? Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder in the world, and it's a chronic medical condition. Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes recurring, frequent, triggered, and unprovoked seizures to occur.
The official Epilepsy Foundation describes seizures as follows: "Seizures are sudden surges of abnormal and excessive electrical activity in your brain, and can affect how you appear or act. Where and how the seizure presents itself can have profound effects...Seizures involve sudden, temporary, bursts of electrical activity in the brain that change or disrupt the way messages are sent between brain cells. These electrical bursts can cause involuntary changes in body movement or function, sensation, behavior or awareness." (Source link)
Sounds like a lot of fun right? This is our life. Even with medication, we can be VERY limited to what can be safe for us. Seizure medications are NOT a cure, they only exist (at least as of now) as a tool to help have your seizures less often, or be triggered less intensely. Even on medication, seizures can still happen.
If you have epilepsy as a child like I did, it impacts your entire growing and developing experience. I spent MANY times as a child in and out of hospitals, neurologist and specialist offices, an getting so many EEG tests done. The pain of scrubbing the glue out of your hair for DAYS is horrible.
At a young age my seizures were so frequent and serious, it impacted my brain's ability to retain information. I had to re-learn the names of things at age 8 and 9. I had to re-learn HOW TO READ at age 10. I had to be home schooled because the public school system of my state at the time refused to work with me. I have VERY distinct and vivid memories of crying over my little baby ABC's book that I needed as a 4th and 5th grader. I knew I should've known this by this age. I knew that at one point I already did, and it was TAKEN FROM ME.
As an adult, I'M NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE A CAR. And I can NEVER go to see a movie in theaters or go to see concerts or live music. There are entire TV shows I don't get to see. I can't go to clubs, arcades, dances, or raves. I miss out on A LOT of fun things. I always do, and I'm WELL AWARE of the fun I'm missing out on. The social, casual, and fun life experiences I'll never get to have. That WE'LL never get to have. And oh yeah! Seizures can KILL SOME OF US. Yep.
And the list goes on, and every person with epilepsy experiences it differently. There are multiple different types of seizures you can have, they're NOT always convulsing on the floor. For example, I have complex-partial-myoclonic-seizures. Meaning my muscles DO twitch when I have seizures, but I'm not always completely unconscious and sometimes I'm even able to stay sitting up. However, I'm still very "off" and can't focus or remember much for a good while after the fact. I can't talk or communicate during one, even with my slight bit of consciousness.
My experiences are not universal, I just wanted to talk about it and bring it up. It helps to talk about it even a little bit. Here's more about different kinds of seizures. Here's more about common seizure triggers. Here's more about CORRECT seizure first aid. And here's more general information/resources.
Please stop leaving us out of disability awareness. Please stop ignoring us or saying we're "not really disabled" or anything else like that. Please. Why does it always feel like the only people who care about epilepsy, are people WITH epilepsy? We're so tired of being ignored by others who don't have our condition.
If you're an epileptic person reading this, I see you. I love you. You're so strong, we all are. I believe in you, I believe in us. We're so much stronger than we get credit for, and it's going to be ok. Your anger and frustration are valid. Your emotions and struggles are real. You're valid, and I see you. Hang in there, we got this.

I am so excited to share The Buddies Project (Disability Buddies and Pride Buddies) with the world!
The Buddies project consists of two individual sister projects, Disability Buddies and Lion Pride Buddies.
Tumblr media
As you can see on the logo above, I make these cute animal character designs to represent medical conditions (Disability Buddies) or LGBT identities (Pride Buddies). Along with a desire to make education and representation more accessible to people with chronic conditions and LGBTQIA+ individuals, these characters are at the heart of the project.
The logo includes Ellie, the Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Buddy, and Gabe, the Gay Pride Buddy. The belong images include examples of a character from each project: Freya the Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) Buddy and Toby the Transgender Buddy.
Tumblr media
This project is still in early stages, but I’m uploading character designs to different social media platforms (check the bottom of the post) and we have a Discord server where you can help me design characters for your medical condition or identity that will be made into plushies and pin buttons, as well as provide visuals for our educational pamphlets and other material. Here is a pin button I have made already!
Tumblr media
The Buddies Project already has partnerships with a local clinic and Pride organization, as well as a reservation for an information booth at my next local Pride Festival, but I hope to make this a global effort once I get farther along in the project and have money to make merchandise (plushies, pins, stickers, etc.) and more educational material (infographics, printed pamphlets, posters, informational booths, etc.)
⭐️ Please come along for the ride! Reblogs appreciated! ⭐️

i meant new ask: character headcanons?
oh okay i wasn't sure my bad!
i'll start off with some small ones and gradually get to the bigger ones:
i can't tell if you were the one to come up with it or if it was established in the novels but i really like thinking of ougi as a neat freak... since koyomi is one, it ties in nicely
vegetarian koyomi & sodachi are also very good (i think veggie koyomi is yours and sodachi is annabelle's)
kanbaru and hitagi actually kissed in middle school. several times maybe.
yotsugi has a crush on nadeko but she doesn't understand that it is one. nadeko has noticed something's up but isn't sure yotsugi knows either
uni senjougahara can drive a motorcycle (please picture koyomi in the backseat as well)
hanekawa knows way too much about cars and all the men she meets at diners and gas stations overseas are really impressed with her, whether they like it or not (she drives manual btw.)
kanbaru wanted to become a sports doctor after meeting with numachi again, so i think she would mostly work with teenagers. i'd like to think that she frequently visits naoetsu and that ougi and kanbaru are still friends and reading buddies even when kanbaru grows into an adult.
my biggest headcanons are not fun ones and they are senjougahara related. reader discretion avised (mentions of eating disorders, cancer)
it's pretty on the nose, and it's edgy, and it's not revolutionary or anything, but hitagi crab as an analogy for eating disorders works extremely well in my eyes.
as someone who has dealt with eating disorders it makes for a very true-to-life tale of a girl whose response to multiple trauma has been control of other's perception of her by violent means (mindful of what people are saying about her, can't let anyone know about her secret, threatens and bullies anyone who tries to get closer to her). this is coherent with anorexia as a way to regain some form of pride and "autonomy" when you feel like everything's been taken away from you. the "weight" aspect is a major factor in how people come up with this interpretation, it's a pun on "omoi" (heavy ; feelings / ties / memories) and how cutting these off completely is easier than dealing with them... and eating disorders oftentimes serve as a way to shift the focus on something other than the actual traumatic event. i remember it functioning the same as addiction on a neurological level.
anyway, what i like about this reading is how the analogy makes it non voyeuristic. the lack of voyeurism (ironic, huh) when it comes to traumatic events is something i really appreciate in monogatari. even as she's talking about the ways she was emotionally and sexually abused, we're not directly shown, we listen to senjougahara talk. a lot of stories about eating disorders are very graphic with the subject matter. seems people can't talk about this stuff without putting extra stress on the "disgusting" aspects of it (critically underweight bodies, laxatives, vomit and other forms of purging). this kind of stuff does nothing except add shock value and try to warn readers or watchers about self-image issues and how starving and purging is bad and gross!! like they don't already know. with hitagi crab as an analogy for anorexia, the self-image/societal perception aspect is neatly implied and the root of the problem (relationship with her mother) is addressed directly.
the other on-the-nose, edgy thing, is senjougahara had a critical operation which saved her life when she was little. it's never been said outright what her disease was, but cancer is prevalent enough among kids and it fits her motif.

Villanueva, Ma. Andrea Jenelle V.
STEM MED 1B
From 8 hours to 2 hours
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, sleep is a crucial activity humans must persist to continue surviving, effectively functioning, and preserving the brain’s well-being. But as humans grow older, the responsibilities they must attend to increase, leading to sacrifices, and one of those is insufficient time for sleep. It has become common for teenagers and young adolescents to have their sleep schedules tentative, and their sleep duration lessened as they compromise to do school-works, part-time jobs, chores, unproductive hobbies, and other time-consuming tasks. Sleep Deprivation among teenagers and students is so looked down upon by them as well as by the education curriculum and system. Aside from humans’ biological nature of changing the chemistry of hormones behind the urgency to sleep, two of the three major reasons why teenagers are poorly derived from sleep are because of the influence played by social media and the various affairs assigned by the school (Child Mind Institute). It is quite upsetting that teenagers and young adolescents took too much pride in how deprived they are of sleep despite the reason without properly thinking of the consequences that could manifest where only time can tell.

Full Body PET Scan Cost in Mumbai – Everything You Need to Know
If you are considering a full body PET scan in Mumbai, it’s important to understand the factors that influence the cost and why this diagnostic test is beneficial for your health. A full body PET scan is an advanced imaging technique used to detect abnormalities such as cancer, infections, and other systemic conditions by showing how your tissues and organs function in real-time.
At Ace Imaging, we provide detailed insights into the cost and procedure of a full body PET scan, helping you make an informed decision about your health. Our facility uses cutting-edge technology, providing clear and accurate imaging for early detection and diagnosis of various health issues.
What is a Full Body PET Scan?
A Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan is a non-invasive imaging test that helps doctors observe the metabolic activity of tissues within the body. It is a powerful tool in diagnosing cancers, heart diseases, and neurological disorders. When combined with a CT scan (PET-CT), it provides both metabolic and anatomical images, making it even more effective for accurate diagnosis.
A full body PET scan is typically recommended for individuals with a higher risk of cancer, heart disease, or those experiencing unexplained symptoms. This scan can also be used as part of a routine check-up or for monitoring patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Factors Influencing the Cost of a Full Body PET Scan in Mumbai
The cost of a full body PET scan in Mumbai can vary depending on several factors, including the location, the technology used, and the expertise of the radiologists involved. At Ace Imaging, we offer competitive pricing and ensure that you receive the best quality imaging for your health needs. Some of the factors that can affect the cost include:
Technology Used: Advanced PET/CT scanners and state-of-the-art equipment tend to cost more. Higher-end technology generally provides more accurate and detailed images.
Healthcare Facility: The reputation and infrastructure of the imaging center play a role in the cost. Well-established centers like Ace Imaging offer high-quality services and professional expertise.
Location: The cost of healthcare services can vary by region within Mumbai. Prices may also vary between different hospitals or diagnostic centers.
Consultation and Additional Services: Some diagnostic centers may include the cost of consultations with specialists, blood tests, or additional imaging in the overall cost.
