i did in fact change the tiers up a bit because i had like half of this in F tier and not all bad books are made equally

this tier is for sueños de piedra and sueños de piedra only because it's one of my favorite books of all time and it would be unfair to rank the rest with it in mind

i've read this book like 100 times and i'll read it again. it made me cry so much but i felt so good after too. this book never fails to warm my heart <3

started strong but then became too formulaic in a way that detracted from the experience. overall i did enjoy it. it was fun and dynamic and the characters were all interesting and fun to read. the ending did disappoint me. the thg x unwind at home

personally disliked that a couple that broke up came back together but i can get over that. i can't get over not committing to the bit tho and for that the book is just okay and not great

the main character was unlikable (in a bad way) and suffered from the authors being cowards and not making her unhinged. the adventures they go on are boring and overall pointless. at the top of this tier because i came up with a genius ending that made it worth the pain (the canon ending was fun too)

first time reading (2024)

the Point of this book is to make you attached to the main couple so they can then pull a memory loss ending with an epilogue. needless to say, they failed the first main point. i did not buy their relationship, i did not care whether they ended up together or not, or if they did if she forgot him. it also had very dumb plot points that tried to be dramatic but sounded stupid

i did chuckle at a couple of jokes

el eco del destino (timekeeper #1)

477 pages / ya fantasy

first time reading (2024)

boring. so much yapping in the internal monologue of the characters that got repetitive real fast. all the characters felt like the same and they faced problems in the most stupid way possible (for the plot)

the world building (the point of the book) was all over the place and not great at all. it was an amalgamation of stuff with no connecting tissue tying it all together, and even the things that were connected made no fucking sense

seremos el huracán

526 pages / ya contemporary retelling (ish)

first time reading (2024)

go girl give us nothing. fail book because its mediocrity was bad. bland. didn't achieve either of the two things it should have: make the reader believe the synergy of the band members, and their romances. characters only interact on page with their love interest, which impedes them forming bonds with the rest of the group, and then this interactions are so surface level and one dimensional that you don't see why they then say they are in love with each other

it also left the grief plot completely underutilized (which was honestly just an excuse to have a cross dressing character in the boyband)

this one did achieve what it set up to do but it did it in a way that ruined the whole ass book when it could have been a C tier, even B tier. the ending destroyed all the groundwork the first book painstakingly set. it went from a grounded, tonally serious story to something completely out of the ballpark. the tonal shift was so jarring it gave me whiplash. and for that, it's the lowest one in this tier

not a fail book because the first 400 or so pages were very enjoyable

*feral* the show is so good, excellently paced and well-acted…. plus, it has all the stuff we enjoy the most:

whump, crime family, family drama, daddy issues (MAJOR!), mommy issues (MAJOR!), well-done action sequences, trauma, “protect the family” sense of duty mindset, lots of baking (by my poor blorbo charles as a coping mechanism), sibling issues, oldest son vs youngest son dynamic (- two brothers, who have both spent their lives competing for attention, approval, and freedom; in their own different ways -), conflicted tortured oldest son, did i mention major daddy/mommy issues and PLENTY OF THE GOOD OL’ EMOTIONAL WHUMP.

and oh their troubled mother is played by THEE MICHELLE YEOH !!!!!!! ✨MOTHER✨

ahhhh charles, his father brainwashed him, turned him into a ruthless killer and put him through so much trauma. my man just wants to have a normal life, bake pastries etc and reconnect with his mother and brother. like look at him (HE NEEDS A HUG AND SEVERAL CHURROS)

i am a sucker for this type of genre. 10/10 no notes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MY FRIENDS, GO WATCH IT 🎉.

I saw someone say that Blitzø communicates through raw emotion and I haven't been able to stop thinking about that. He doesn't know how to express his feelings, he bottles everything up because he's never been safe to do anything else. So when something happens that's just too much for him to shove down, it all comes flooding up. He doesn't know how to use 'nice' or 'romantic' words because he doesn't even know how to feel nice and romantic feelings. So he says everything he can identify, everything he's bottled up in a flurry of raw emotion that he doesn't even have time to think about until it's already left his mouth. When he tried to open himself up to the fact that somebody, Stolas, could love him, he yelled and screamed and shouted everything he felt because for him that was his way of opening up. He was trying so hard he cried. It was the most vulnerable he's ever let himself be. But because Stolas has only ever been shown reserved words, passive aggressive comments, and kind language, he didn't know how to hear anything but Blitzø's tone and that's the most heartbreaking thing. They both want so bad to open up to the other but neither knows how because they've never been given a truly safe place to do so

Finished ok ko last night (my first full watch thru since I would catch the eps on cable as a hyperfixated teen) and tell me why this show didn’t get 5 more seasons and a movie.

I have so many thoughts but I am overwhelmed by the fact that we BARELY got to see voxman get back together in a meaningful way. I mean PV was REALLY shitty to boxman (granted it was shadowy and nothing the real PV would actually do, seeing as shadowy also missed poor finks recorder recital 🥺) but I ended up feeling SO bad for boxman and I wish we got MORE than just the little cameo “I’m sorry” moment in the last ep…

It’s great to see what they were going for! And clearly PV felt so bad after the fact he was willing to FUCKING DIE … but I just wish we could have gotten a proper apology/scene + boxman expressing how much it hurt … sigh…

Okay so ah, before I continue this, let me just say this:

Yet again, crossing off another thing that seemed impossible yet was possible, North believing things such as myths and beliefs circulating around an engine.

But then considering he has the logic to not believe in such things without a proper reason, maybe this is actually hinting at something Merry has?? Im guessing its something related to black smoke or some sort of “gold dust technique” (what the fuck am I saying)

BUT either way I still have my suspicions about her soul (both how it is in the present and past times)

Cause for some context, Ive had a theory (for a while) that Merry (or Jacqueline in the present) had black smoke inside her soul for a while in a way where Blue Peter had his black smoke stored, but in a way where it’s the cause of her cruelty as a parent.

But that was a scrapped theory since I had another theory involving Silver souls, her being one of those said silver souls in that theory.
