Was about to complain about the resurgence of people drawing spamton too normal-looking now that spamtenna is popular but then I realized that Tenna would have known spamton pre-gasterization and therefore it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that he’d look like any other Addison and this information has wrecked me. He actually would look like a normal guy. Horrible. Shrink that freak right tf now

I think this is why the original sound novel without the redone graphics will always be my favorite. The full CGs are beautiful but there’s something haunting about the screen going black or staying on a photo-bashed background and being alone with the white words scrolling on top. There aren’t any beautiful pictures or humanity to connect yourself to. It really puts yourself in the shoes of being isolated and everything being in your head.

you know it increasingly actually bothers me a lot that my impression of higurashi for so many years was that it's a lot of like "wouldn't it be FUCKED UP if kids killed each other" when higurashi is very clear that the kids doing the killing are unilaterally terrified people driven to violence by the most obvious metaphor for conspiratorial thinking, reactionary ideology, & social isolation ever written

I feel like a lot of this misconstruing of the original narrative is due to sub par anime adaptations in which the horrifying prose depicting the descent into madness is replaced with shock-value gore and creepy faces. For me the horror of higurashi has always been in the paranoia people can succumb to in their darkest moments, especially when feeling isolated and alone. And the minimal visuals with in-depth descriptions of the terror the characters are feeling helps convey that so much, that when you take it away, I feel there is something lost.

I’ve said this before on other socials but I don’t really feel comfortable with kids following me! Just because I might post cute or colorful art doesn’t mean my stuff is “for kids.” I won’t post anything outright graphic but I don’t want to censor myself in fear of children watching…so please unfollow if you’re under 18! I’m so glad the new chapters have helped people understand how interesting and cool Kris is as a character. They had so many cool moments these last chapters and I’m like. Finally you guys get it. Cheering and yahooing and crying cuz they are so cool

here it is! drawn around september 2021. these two absolutely took over my brain for a bit. but i have to admit i prefer other ships now...sorry...

i do like parts of this drawing still, despite how rough it is. noelle's expression is particularly cute. also, it was my first art piece to get over 1k likes on instagram (or maybe second?? they were both suselle lol) (also i know numbers don't matter but it was a personal achievement of mine)

maybe i'll redraw the other one one of these days lol
