because the thing is, prosecutors in ace attorney are almost always at least a little bit evil. they're cruel, they're ruthless, and they prioritize winning over discovering the truth. which absolutely makes sense for the front cellbit's putting up; he no longer cares about unmasking the federation, instead cutting off everyone around him and selfishly wanting to keep richarlyson to himself.

and then there's the fact that he chose godot.

godot, a man who once was a defence attorney. who only became a prosecutor to test phoenix wright, the successor to mia fey, godot's old flame whose death was a factor in his decision to completely change his identity from armando to godot. he felt guilty over mia's death, and projected that guilt onto phoenix.
