yes. THIS. because twilight/new moon jacob would have never do that. eclipse/ breaking dawn jacob wasn’t even jacob that was the cullenizers depiction of what they think he should have been. she destroyed his character for some racist fetish and i’ll never forgive her.

he deserved better than some lazy racist writing.

just to be clear my saying “jacob deserved better” does not mean “jacob should have been loved and forgiven even though he harassed bella and imprinted on an infant and generally became manipulative as he developed” i mean that jacob deserved better than racist ass stephanie meyer writing him that way in the first place when he had so much potential to be a good and healthy friend for bella and a generally loveable character.

we get over 100 pages worth of bella and edward in love and banging and bella outwardly expressing to both us and edward that this is what’s stopping her from wanting to be turned - something she’s been so adamant about since twilight! - and yet smeyer’s view of a happy ever after to destroy the humanity of her characters (and not just bella) and for her to endure a gruesome pregnancy and have them become teenage parents. something they obviously didn’t want. something they’re now stuck with. this is not happiness for them! for bella! for edward! for jacob! FOR ANYONE!!!!

why would you inflict more terror on your characters? you can have conflict without the pregnancy mess; you can resolve the treaty conflict without jacob imprinting; you can turn bella into a vampire and even delay that WITHOUT A FUCKING PREGNANCY - and instead let her go to college. let us get fluff. let her rework her friendships and have a new perspective on life. let her feel like those things will slip from her and then she realizes after she’s turned that she can still see charlie and renée and jacob and everyone else. you can do both of those things and also get rid of so much of this book and also still have jacob’s pov. but NOOOOO more pain, more unnecessary conflict and predatory plot points, more terror and nightmares and suffering and stereotypes and racist writing because we’re stuck in smeyer’s narrow-minded universe

so fucking tired of media with a super cool and interesting premise and all sorts of fun stuff going on just for it to spend half it's time going on and on about yet ANOTHER mediocre romance. Seems like every time there's a character who gets talked up as being cool and competent and maybe scary who isn't shown immediately, I get lured into a false sense of security until BAM! it's a conventionally attractive man who is often way younger than the way people talk about him would imply. And you just know, right away, "oh okay so our protagonist is going to spend most of her time falling for this guy rather than focusing on any of the actual fucking interesting things going on despite her being the center of those interesting things"

Dude twilight would be such a good concept for a world building study but it's so steeped in mormonism, grooming, and just... Awful relationships that it was entirely ruined.

It would be so much better if Charlie (Bella's dad, for the fortunate people who have never been forced to watch this stupid movie series or read the books) decided to just... Show in the first movie and go full vampire hunter. It would solve so many problems.
