Venezuelans are being arrested for posting on social media about the situation and can't obtain the awareness this situation needs all on their own. You do not get to refuse to reblog this post just because you might interpret it as passive aggressive. Venezuelans need our help spreading awareness of what's going on there. Update about Venezuela

Today, October 3rd, 7 kids between 15 and 17 years old were condemned to 10 years of prison for protesting against the government. Since the national elections, today was the first time their mothers were able to see them and talk to them. They present signs of torture like missing teeth, and burnt nipples due to torture with electricity, and 2 of them expressed suicidal thoughts, even 1 of them tried to kill themselves. One girl said that a policeman offered to free her if she had sex with him.

This is what this government is doing to our people. This is how much Maduro's regime cares about children.

Many of you think that María Corina Machado, the current opposition leader, is a fascist or something like that, just because she's fighting against Chavismo, but the truth is she's fighting against a tyranny, she's fighting for every venezuelan that, on July 28th, showed their wishes to be free in the national elections. It saddens me that thousands of people around the world say that they stand up for freedom, but when it comes to fighting for freedom in a left-wing dictatorship they go blind. If you're one of those people defending Maduro's regime, let me tell you something: YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. Your fight was never for freedom. You just care about your ideology, and you don't care that they're murdering innocent people, as long as they say they're socialist.

I'm argentinian and my country more often than not comes up on top of the ranking of "latin countries with the best English level". I am working as an English/Spanish interpreter over the phone and video, do you gringos know why?

1. English is taught in schools. My first lesson was in 4th grade (I was between 9 and 10 years old I'm 32 now btw). Now even some Pre K schools teach basic English to the kids.

2. Most of the music, films, tv shows and other entertainement comes from either USA or UK. And you know... when you like a song usually you want to know what does the lyrics say, and we are not afraid of subtitles!

3. Internet! English is the Universal Language by now... how are we supposed to fight it?

You guys speak English because is the only language that you know... we speak English because is the only language that you know.

And, of course, some of us actually enjoy learning languages. I'm learning Russian at this moment and I plan to learn Euskera after... maybe some Arab as well.

Another interesting discourse I've seen in communist circles across different platforms after the elections:

I've been seeing multiple people ask Venezuelans WHY they speak "perfect" English if they're Venezuelan, only to then accuse them of being CIA bots.

First off... we wouldn't have had to learn English if you hadn't made English a lingua franca. English is, in fact, compulsory in many schools here.

Second, we wouldn't be speaking to you in English if you hadn't made sure that certain spaces and content on the internet could only be accessed by speaking English. Go figure where most of us learned slang.

Third, we wouldn't be posting and interacting in "perfect" English if you didn't make fun of us when we make grammar mistakes, or outright asked us to speak in your language. Until today I still double check with translators before even posting something.

I think it's your turn to start using translators.

Look at how they say "Chavez vive" (Chavez lives).

You only need to see the first minute of the video, two argentinian journalists speak and then show a video of one of the detention centers where the person in charge (I guess) speaks of the 75 prisioners for terrorism and treason while assuring thet he and his people will do whatever is needed for the laws to be obeyed.
